A-Levels
Preparing for the GCE A-Level examinations (at President's College) was tough. The school had trouble finding teachers and came up with out-of-the-box solutions. The Accounting class traveled to the University of Guyana for classes (a professional from the Accounting Department taught the class). Another lecturer visited the school to teach Statistics. We did not have an Economics teacher (O-Levels was much better).
The trip to UG was tiring but also fun. We traveled by minibus. I recall that the bus driver smiled a lot. He seemed pleased to have the job.
I learned a little bit about the UG campus then. We had classes in any available classroom in the Education building, which was at the front of the UG campus. We saw some of the hustle and bustle of the campus from that building. For some strange reason, I was interested in the trees near the front of the Education building. I learned that they were ackee trees.

i do often feel insane for not understanding the tribalistic difference between like STEM....and like humanities? or whatever else?
Like from my own perspective, i grew up incredibly interested in science and history, two things that seemed so interconnected esp with my interests in dinosaurs. However my true passion, and my main focus today, is in creative writing - and particularily table top role playing game creation which itself combines writing with maths (and not mentioning the computer skills ive been forced to pick up to produce even substandard ttrpg works)
- and all this before mentioning i studied history, economics and politics for alevels, seperate from creative writing or stem, wait is economics stem or humanities?? Its surely seems like both, or at least attracts people into both kind of things?
I just dont understand the division here?

UPDATE!!!!
Now I know I disappeared for like two, three months. And I don't really have any one else to blame for that other than the stupid academic system. But now I'm baacckkk. I'm done with all my exams except one which is next month so I'm not even thinking about that. As for the exams... they surprisingly went REALLY well? Especially economics which is a surprise.
Anyways... onto the main topic. Now that I'm done with all that mess, I want to get back into writing fics cuz I desperately miss my Azzy. So I am accepting any requests for Azriel that you may have. Please send them in, I'm desperate for ideas.
That said, another thing I have been missing terribly is ASOSAS. That is my first, multi chapter fic and the story is so near and dear to my heart. But I have neglected it quite a bit and have been terrible with updates, mainly because Alevels is just very draining, especially when you're a perfectionist who thinks that anything below an A or A* is a death sentence. So my question to any of my followers is: If I were to continue ASOSAS and start updating chapters, would anyone be interested?

i had no clue seb was going to be on the question (ive watched it a few times for my economics alevels). is there a reason he got invited - i thought it was mainly british politicians/economists invited on
me and u 🤝 watching question time for alevels (except mine was for history)
there have actually been other non political figures on the show such as hugh grant
but the panel as a whole does include significant figures in the industry, the media and entertainment so that’s a possible explanation as to why they have chosen seb, bc of his recent activism

Difference 1: The evaluation system is different.
The most direct pressure on the domestic high school is the college entrance examination.
The evaluation system of overseas universities will be more diversified, in addition to the high school entrance examination results, that is, GPA, will also look at the standardized IELTS TOEFL, in addition to a relatively objective reflection of the child's academic ability, foreign universities also value personalized and extracurricular activities, for example, on the basis of all high scores, how to select students, he will look at the temperament of students who are suitable for the school.
Difference 2: the curriculum is different.
Domestic high school senior basically not divided into literature and science, is the general curriculum, mainly study nine courses language, mathematics, foreign politics, history and geography and physical, chemical and biological.senior three is mainly to do the final sprint and strengthen the high school stage to meet the college entrance examination.
International high school courses include Alevel, IB, AP, depending on the country you want to go to or which courses are offered by the school. Regardless of the type of curriculum, the proportion of English classes is higher than ordinary high school, for the development of English skills will also require higher, such as presentation skills academic writing, because these are often used abroad to study in college, and Chinese children for this knowledge is generally relatively weak. In addition to these, international high school students will also be exposed to economics, business and some courses that are not taught in domestic high schools, so their knowledge will be broader. Furthermore, international schools will offer different kinds of club classes that students can apply for themselves.
Difference 3: Learning and assessment are different.
A familiar phrase you hear in domestic high schools is that the test is the teacher's magic bullet and the score is the student's lifeblood. Because also mentioned above, high school selection is to determine the knowledge of the knowledge through repetitive high-intensity practice, mainly to master the test content and familiar with the answer ideas skills. The usual homework is mostly test papers, tutorials practice questions written homework is the main.
International high schools also have exams, such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, Alevel global exams, but the pressure of this test can be split. If you don't do well on one test, you can take more than one test and submit your application with the best score. In addition to written papers, there are often assignments in the form of presentations, group presentations, poster making, practical reports, etc. The emphasis is on dynamic assessment of the process.

An Introduction to Me?
I don’t know where to start! Introducing yourself is a lot harder than I remembered; eight weeks into quarantine and my ability to socialise has taken a big (and hopefully reversible) toll.
Moving on . . .  Hey! I’m Alexa and I’m a year eleven. I don’t know whether to consider myself a year eleven or a year twelve, honestly, at this point, I’m just going to say I’m a year twelve. For a-levels I chose: History, Law and Economics and I’m really excited to start college.
After I finish my a-levels I want to go on to study law at university! I’ve been inspired by those around me to pursue a career in law and I want to chronicle the process here and share my ups and downs with a supportive community. I hope to become an active member of the Studyblr community and try to show my love and support by liking and reblogging everybody’s posts!
Here are a couple things about me:
- I love learning languages, I’m currently learning Korean and I’m planning to eventually learn several more languages.
- I’m a massive book worm who will reading book you put in front of her
- I’ve been writing since I was around ten and am in the process of writing a book called ‘Sanguinaria’ (I might make a post about, I’m not sure!)
- I’m sixteen, turning seventeen in less than a year (whoop whoop)
- I cannot live without music and I’m constantly listening to something
- I like watching kdramas and listening to Korean music
What I’m going to be posting:
- Study techniques I find useful and effective
- My thoughts and feelings about my work and the subjects I’m taking
- I’d like to eventually share some of my writing and other similar projects
Thank you for reading my intro! I hope we can become friends, feel free to drop me a message because I’d love to have a good chat. I’ll see you around 💗
