What if the Stardew Valley Farmer got a Trainee?
Okay, imagine: Depressed teen, third year of uni/college in Zuzu city doing biology and looking for an internship somewhere remote so they can get out of the city and see the world. Lo and behold, one day, someone responds to their ad. With a letter. It just appeared on their desk one day, right out of the blue.
Hi there! I heard you were looking for work somewhere remote so you could continue working on your biology degree. Well, I run a farm in a little place called Stardew Valley and I could certainly use some help. There will be plenty of opportunities to survey the natural wildlife that live around me, and the people of Pelican Town would love to see a new face!
If you would like to accept this offer, please sign your name down the bottom of this letter and send it to the address written on the back.
Kind regards,
ᛏᚻᛖ ᚠᚪᚱᛘᛖᚱ
Two days later, they find themselves on a bus headed into the countryside, carrying nothing but a bag of clothes and a toothbrush. Following the instructions that came in the follow-up letter, they arrive at a little cottage sitting in the middle of a giant paddock. There is no one around. Upon knocking on the door, there is no answer. The wind howls in the distance, but it sounds almost... alive. They sit there for a while, outside the cottage, too nervous to explore.
It was getting late, and they were about to get up and leave, but then suddenly, there's a massive BANG, jolting them from their stupor. And standing there coughing and spluttering, covered in slime and guts, holding a glowing sword and toting a bulging backpack is the farmer. They look down to see the kid sitting on their ass looking up at them with a bewildered gaze.
"Oh shit... you're arriving today. I'm sorry, this is really not a good first impression." Stretching out a slimy hand, he pulled the kid off the ground. "Hi, I'm the Farmer. Let's get you settled in." The Farmer's house was quite eclectic, with little trinkets scattered everywhere and a mismatched collection of artwork lining the walls, with windows squished between them in the most random of places. Throwing his bag on the table, they could just see the faint glow of a deep purple ore sticking out of it. "I-uh, haven't got much set up yet." the Farmer said "We'll get you a bed later, but for now, you can roll out a sleeping bag on the living room floor. I need a new house upgrade anyway, so you'll be fixed up with your own room soon anyways."
They didn't know what to think of everything so far, but hey, at least it would be interesting.
The next day, they were woken up at 6am to see the Farmer staring directly at them. "Rise and shine kid! The suns up and it's time to grind!" Ten very messy minutes and one pot of coffee later, they were outside in the cold, shivering in the one pair of pants they brought. The only sound they could hear was the quiet hiss of the sprinklers watering the multitudes of strawberry plants. They just seemed to go on forever, an army of green and red.
The Farmer - who seemed positively cheery - clapped their hands and strode towards a rows of coops and barns on the right. Upon opening the first door, a torrent of chickens fled out, including one that was bright blue. Moving on to the next coop, they opened it to find a duck, 2 rabbits and a giant lizard waiting for them. It was so large, it could barely fit through the doors to get out. Upon being released, it immediately raced past the poor kid to go chase a butterfly. When it caught it, it pinned it to the ground with it's foot and proceeded to fucking torch it with a burst of fire from it's mouth.
The farmer gave it a little pat on the head, and it trotted away proudly with it's crispy prize. "That's Bill. I'm sure you'll love her." They said. The barn didn't have any unholy creations, just some cows. They never thought they would be so happy to just see some cows.
For a few days, they worked on the farm, feeding the animals, planting and harvesting crops, avoiding the lizard from hell, and in their spare time, trying to actually study and complete assignments. On a rainy Friday, they walked into town to pick up some seeds and meet the people. Pierre was nice enough, but was distracted trying to sell the Farmer as many seeds as possible. They went to the Saloon for the evening, and they watched in confusion as the Farmer walked around the room handing out gifts to everyone in there. A bowl of spaghetti for a lady, who promptly stopped dancing with her husband to chow down on it. There were three people their age playing pool, and they could only classify them as the adventurous one, the emo and the puppy dog they adopted. Sam honestly just seemed to bounce around and have a good time. They were all given shiny gemstones and pizza, which they loved. It was very interesting to see everyone individually greet the farmer and get given a trinket or piece of food.
For a few weeks everything was calm, with mild weather and good spirits, they explored the world of Stardew Valley. There was wildlife (slightly toasted wildlife in some instances) surrounding them on all sides, but the people of Stardew interested them more. On the other side of town, a small museum sat only half-full with items, and upon asking around, they found out the Farmer had been providing all of the exhibits.
The beach was nice, if not cold. But Elliot was always up for a chat when they visited, and they found they both loved watching the ocean. Leah had some interesting sculptures, and knew where all the best spots were in the forest to view the wildlife.
And the Farmer. Well, they didn't know what to make of the Farmer. Some days, they were the life of the party, floating around handing out gifts as if they were Santa Claus. And other days, they just weren't there. They left at the crack of dawn, holding that strange glowing sword. They wanted to find out what happened on those days, but the Farmer never talked about it, so they never asked.
One day, they woke up to see the Farmer staring over their bed. Again. "Time to get up. We're going to the mines." "I'm sorry, what?" they asked. The only answer they got was a sword thrown on their blanket.
An hour later, they stood inside the entrance of the old mines in the pouring rain. They had taken the rickety minecart system, and they felt like they were going to throw up. "Here, eat this." The Farmer said, throwing them a piece of glowing rock candy. Why was everything always glowing? They ate it anyway, and felt a surging rush of energy. They felt like they could take on the world. And then, they were in a rickety old elevator, shooting down, fast, into the earth. The Farmer stood next to them, sword raised. "Get ready." The Farmer said. They raised their sword as well, very afraid.
The doors clicked open, and the Farmer bolted out. From out of their pack, they threw a bomb at a nearby cluster of rocks, which instantly exploded in a cloud of dust, leaving a small pile of gemstones. The Farmer didn't even stop to inspect what was left. They just kept running towards the next cluster. They stood there dumbstruck, watching the farmer sprint their heart out through this cave. They then heard a small noise, and as if they had materialized out of the walls, a small man shrouded in shadow was upon them!
They lashed out in fear with their sword, but the shadow man was faster, dodging neatly out of the way. They stepped backwards, into the elevator, sword raised. The shadowy creature lunged at him and- it exploded in an instant. From the other side of the cave, the Farmer held a sling in their hand, and it was aimed where the shadow person had been. "Keep moving if you want to stay alive!" the Farmer shouted.
Eventually, they completed ran out of stone to blow up, and they gathered up all the gemstones and other items. They sighed in relief, thinking it was over, until the Farmer pointed to a nearby ladder, going deeper into the Earth.
They emerged several hours later, covered head to toe in dust and monster guts. But their backpacks were full of materials. After a long shower, they flopped on the couch.
"Is that what you've been doing all this time?" they asked the Farmer. "No, actually." they responded "that was actually a warm up. There's a much more dangerous place in the desert I usually go. That was a warmup, so I wouldn't throw you in the deep end." The poor thought they might kill themselves at this point.
They did a few more trips to the mines over the coming weeks, and they did get better at fighting monsters. When they walked into town, they were treated with a new respect by the townspeople. They felt more confident, but the Farmer still came up with new ways to terrify them. The mines were nothing compared to the sheer chaos of the Skull Caverns.
During the Winter, the Farmer decided to dedicate an entire week to investigating the deep caves there. They called it "The Skull Caverns Dive." This was when the Farmer introduced them to magic. In preparation for the week, the Farmer showed them how to use a warp totem in case of emergencies. It was a very disorienting experience, but it was fast.
When the week begun, they thought they were prepared for anything. By day two, they bore bruises and scars across their body, compliments of the monsters of the Caverns. They watched in awe and fear as the Farmer turned into an absolute demon, storming through the caverns like a wrath of nature, destroying everything in their path. By the final day, even the Farmer was tiring, but the monsters never stopped coming. At one point, a flying serpent raced into the Farmer, who went sprawling into the ground. The serpent turned around and went for another pass, racing towards the Farmer. The serpent was fast, but they were faster. Slicing through the serpent with the borrowed sword, they dragged the Farmer to their feet and activated the emergency warp totem, sending them back home. They both crawled into their beds and slept well into the next day.
Eventually, the year was up, and they had to return to Zuzu city. They were still doing a degree, and it was time to head back to complete it. Most of the town came out to say goodbye, and more than one of them had tears in their eyes. Right as they were about to leave, the Farmer came up to them. They pushed a small package into their arms. "This is a reminder of your time here. You can return whenever you want, you know. There will always be a place for you in Stardew Valley."
On the bus ride home, they opened it to see a dagger, pulsing with energy, along with a small scabbard. They tied it to their belt, and swore never to part with it.
When they returned to live at college, everyone gave them a newfound respect. Perhaps it was the way they walked, or the knife strapped to their belt. People could just feel the danger radiating off them. Their old friends hadn't changed too much, and while it was nice to see them all again, it wasn't the same. No monsters to fight, no fire breathing lizards to feed, no monumental harvests and re-plantings.
When they graduated, the swore to return. Because there was something special about Stardew Valley, and now because it was home.

Warnings: Mentioned vomit but never in detail and Max has destressing behavior from coming down from a high
The next morning didn’t go as badly as he was expecting. It went worst.
Between the gags and retches, Mike had managed to drag her to his bathroom. She was disoriented but more aware than she was earlier and tried to fight him away from her. Her shoves were blind, almost as if it was just her fight or flight kicking in.
There was nothing left in her stomach so it was just bile coming up and as she hugged the toilet seat she yelled at him in her scratchy, worn voice to get out. And so he did; he was tired of being thrown up on and if she doesn’t want his help right now then that was on her. He had to stop himself from slamming the bathroom door on the way out.
That was going on forty-five minutes ago, she still hasn’t come out. The retching has stopped and the sound of the shower has come on. He wonders if she even knows where she is. He leaves the water and Advil Emily had left last night at the foot of the bathroom door as an act of peace before the inevitable war.
To pass the time he’s stripped his bedsheets to throw them in the wash, put away his makeshift bed, put the coffee on the pot, and made himself a bowl of cereal. The sun has started to rise outside and Derek will be up soon for his morning run. He feels like he’s playing a super intense version of Pac-man. Max is Pac-man and his roommates are the ghosts and he’s grasping the controller trying to make sure they don’t run into each other.
As on schedule, the moment the clock turns to seven Derek is coming out of his room in his running gear. He gives Mike a weird look, confused as to why he’s up this early. He gives him a terse smile and Derek just shrugs his shoulders. “Rough night?” he asks Mike as he grabs his water bottle from the fridge.
“Yeah, I guess you could say that,” he teeters.
Derek asks vague questions about the party but other than that he doesn’t force a conversation as he downs a granola bar. He does also ask if he’s seen Bill this morning since sometimes Bill will join Derek on his run but he shakes his head. Bill’s bedroom door is still open so wherever he is, he’s not here. Mike stares at his fruit loops and is grateful when Derek mumbles out a goodbye. He hasn’t checked on Max in a while and he needs to- as much as he wants to put it off.
A “Christ! Bill! ” stops him from doing so the moment Derek opens their front door. Oh, how Mike hates being the responsible friend sometimes.
Bill is laying on his back in their front hall, his long legs over the front door threshold, and is rubbing the back of his head and grumbling. Derek stands off to the side, bewildered by the sight in front of him. It looks like Bill was sitting against their front door and when Derek opened it, he fell backward inside. For fucksakes, how long was he out there?
Bill is still drunk as he slurs out, “Nnn-no ‘ey.”
“You could've texted one of us to let you in! You scared the shit out of me!” Derek snaps at him. He’s always had less patience with Bill when he’s drunk and or high. Emily has a little more but it’s always Mike who’s stuck helping him. After the last twelve hours, he’s so tired of inebriated people. At Derek’s raised voice, Bill’s blotchy face gets even redder and tears start to form in his eyes. He’s never seen Bill cry and he doesn’t want to break that streak today so he intervenes.
“Come on ole’ Billy Boy,” He cajoles pulling Bill up by his armpits. Bill smiles like a dope up at him, signs of his tears gone, and lets Mike drag him to his room. The sound of the front door closing tells him Derek has left. He’ll probably be huffy puffy with Bill for a while but he’ll get over it.
With anOof, Mike drops Bill off on his bed. To which the dufus promptly passes back out. Mike isn’t nice like Emily, he doesn’t leave a glass of water or an Advil, because Bill deserves his oncoming hangover. It’s then he realizes that besides Bill’s soft snores, it’s quiet in the room. Too quiet. There’s no sound coming from the bathroom. With apprehension trickling down his neck he gumshoes his way back to his room.
Max is standing in his room, dressed back in hissweater, probably couldn't find her shirt, and her back is towards the door as she stares at the posters littering his walls. There are a few great ones he brought from home. Princess Leia and Anakin watch over him while he sleeps and on the adjoining wall is an art twist style of the periodic table. He doubts that Max is admiring them more than she is judging them.
He tries andfails to close his bedroom door quietly, prepared for the onslaught that is about to come from Max when she sees him for the first time for what feels like eons. Max swivels on her heel and her eyes widen almost comically in disbelief when she sees him. That only lasts for a moment before her eyebrows draw together and her lips turn down in animosity.
Idly he wonders what word of choice is she going to use to snap at him.“Loser” was her favorite concerning him but“Creep”can apply in this situation and to her, it may seem deserved. But who could forget about the good ole classic“Stalker”that she called all of the Party members in their junior high years?
The movement of her hand tightening around her shoes in her hands catches his eyes and he notices for the first time she’s barefoot. Is she thinking about hitting him with her shoes? Is that the kind of thanks he’s entitled to when he brought her to his apartment for her to sleep off her high? The high that left her incapacitated. Or how about how he cleaned the vomit off of her and let her sleep in his bed while he slept on thefloor? The same bed she puked in just an hour before!
She has the audacity to look at him like that as if he is just some- some inconvenience in her way. Venom pools on the back of his tongue. He doesn’t give a Demogorgon's dead ass if Max does look like shit, with the way small tremors wrack her body and her hair is a matted wet mess. If she eventhinksabout berating him, he’ll easily tell her the what’s what.
But that's not what happens at all. If Max was a balloon it’s like someone reached out with a needle and popped her. Her shoulders fall and the blazen look in her eyes dissipates as she drops them to the floor. Without a word, she shuffles past him.
Staring at where she once was, he has to pick his jaw up from the floor. MadMax wasn’t mad. Fear spikes through his chest as he scrambles after her.“Max?!”
She is out on the sidewalk in front of his apartment, a purpose in her walk propelling her down it. It’s cold enough to be nippy out here but she didn’t bother to put on her shoes. Too desperate to get away. Mike is also barefoot because he was too busy chasing and calling after her. What a sight these two make.
It takes Mikegrabbing her by her arm to slow her down. Despite grabbing her by her upper arm, the image of her purple elbows and bruised body forever imprinted on the inside of his mind, she still hisses in pain.
When she meets his eyes this time, he desperately looks for the fire that makes Max,well; Max. Instead, her eyes reveal nothing but a poorly masked fear. It immediately makes him let her go and take a step back. Max is worse off than he thought. The Max before is nothing but a shell of the Max he knew.
They remain to stare at each other, years of anguish and unspoken arguments flooding the space between them. It becomes so overbearing he has to break the silence. “What the fuck happened to you, Max?” He’s never been one for tact.
Max laughs mirthlessly, her eyes-no,her whole being is hollow. “Fuck off Mike.”
That one jab is enough to relieve him that the old Max isn’t completely gone, just buried deep. Possibly hiding. It’s also enough to tick him off. He squares his shoulders up, trying not to shiver in the morning wind, and jabs a finger at her, “You’re telling me to fuck off? How about a thanks instead? You know after I cleaned the vomit out of your hair and gave you a place to stay-”
“I didn’t need your help! I never asked for it!” She’s in his face then. Well as best as she can be, he easily towers over her. Her breath is rancid and she’s seething. Where did this energy come from? “You could’ve just left me where I was but no Mister Self Important Michael Fucking Wheeler had to go and play the savior as he has always done! How’s your ego now?! Do ya feel like a hero?!”
He flounders for just a moment, but refuses to step back, “I wouldn’t have had to play the fucking ‘hero’ if you hadn’t gotten strung out on heroin at a random frat party! By the way Max- heroin?  Are you fucking serious?! And what was with that guy last night that was just as high as you? Was that your dealer?! Getting high with your dealer, real classy Max.” It's more of just a guess but now in the morning time, he knows that guy is nothing but bad news.
"It's none of your business what I do or who I hang out with! Don't youdarepretend to care about me now, Wheeler!" She snarls back.
"Don't worry, you don't have to worry about me caring about you!" He chuckles incredulously. A small voice in his head is telling him to stop while he's ahead, to instead reassure Max that while they haven't talked in a while doesn't mean he doesn't care for her well-being. As always, he doesn't listen to it. "I just wonder what El and Lucas would think of you? If they saw how screwed up you've-"
Suddenly the world blurs past him and his mind registers the pain blooming in his hands as used them to catch himself. The weight of his body falling to the ground forces him to land back on his bare elbows and heat radiates up his arm from the pain, battling against the cold morning air. Max has managed to surprise him twice this morning. First when she didn’t initially put up a fight and opted to leave his apartment without a word and now when she shoved him roughly to the ground.
A flash of regret crosses her face but she doesn't extend her hand to help him up or even say sorry. She just huffs at him and turns on her heel, doing something between a run and a walk to get away from him. Her shoes are still clutched in her hand and still wearing his sweater.
He manages to find his voice before she rounds the sidewalk, “You’re messed up Max! Get some help!”
-
For the rest of the day, he tries not to think about Max. Which is easier said than done.
After watching the ghost of Max disappear, he headed back home. Took a shower himself, did some chores, and actually ate something. Derek came home from his run and reminded him of their study group tonight at the library for the upcoming midterms. Something he completely forgot about.
That wasn’t until later at least so he played on his switch in the living room to kill the time. Emily came out of her room and played Mario Party with him which was unusual. He wasn’t dumb, he knew she was waiting for an opportunity to ask him about Max. But Mike had resigned himself to not thinking about her and was thankful for the shield that was Derek. Who was reading in the armchair, only looking up to make comments when Mike did something he considered dumb in the game.
Then the time came for Emily to leave for cello practice for the evening and Mike was safe from having to answer her questions about Max. For now at least. Emily is persistent so it’s only a matter of time before she digs the answers she seeks out of him.
Bill had come out of his room during their rounds of Mario Party and fell very ungracefully onto the couch, his head falling in Mike’s lap. Bill was clingy when he was hungover and often sought out physical comfort. He never looked for it from Emily and Derek was still annoyed with him from this morning’s fiasco so Mike it was. As usual.
After Emily left Mike only got to play thirty minutes of Pokémon before Derek was telling them they should head out soon. He stood straight up from the couch, sending a nearly asleep Bill sprawled out onto the floor. He glared up at Mike for under his bangs that had fallen in his eyes.
“I hh-hate you.”
“No, ya don’t Billy. Now get up and get dressed. We got the study group at the library, remember?”
Bill shook his head, “Not going. Don’t fuh-feel well.”
He didn’t look hungover, but he wondered if he didn't emotionally feel well. Mike has some questions of his own for Bill and they all have to do with the golden curl Adonis he was making out with last night. He has run intomany of Bill’s one-night stands in the mornings but that situation…felt different. More significant. Bill retired to his room though before he got a chance to ask him. My Chemical Romance started blaring from behind his door so Mike left him alone.
When he came to college he didn’t bring many clothes, despite his Mom’s insistence, so he pulled a new outfit to wear from the dryer of his freshly washed clothes. Right on top was Max’s long sleeve red shirt. He forgot he threw it in the wash. Dammit.
She has his sweater and he has her shirt. After doing so well today of not thinking about her, she immediately flooded his thoughts. Derek yelled at him that they were going to be late so he changed quickly and shoved Max’s shirt in his nightstand, deciding to think about what to do with it later. He grabbed heated up a Cup-Of-Noodle to-go and went out the door.
Now he’s walking alongside Derek in companionable silence as they head to the library. What is he supposed to do about Max? A part of him, bigger than he would ever admit, feels guilty about how he reacted this morning. It just-Max gets under his skin. She’s always been able to, knowing exactly what to say to piss him off. Guess the same could be said for him, he remembers saying things in their youth solely because it would get a reaction out of her. Have they always just been shitheads to each other?
How is he supposed to help her if they’re each other's lighters to their fuses? Does Max even want help? Why the hell has this become his problem? How do you help someone get into recovery? Someone he feels like he barely knows anymore.
That’s the kicker of all of this he realizes, he doesn’t know Max anymore. Could the answer to all of this be just reaching out an olive branch to her? Just see how her life is going. It makes him feel stupid that he doesn’t even know what she’smajoring in here at school. That is something tangible that he could do, just show her that evenhe cares about what’s going on in her life…despite what he yelled at her earlier. It feels like he’s fucking this up before he’s really even begun.
“Honor is bringing one of her buddies by the way,” Derek breaks him from his chain of inner questioning as they’re about to enter the library, “Forgot to tell you but I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal.”
Mike makes a noncommittal hum. Their usual study group contains him and his roommates, a girl named Patty from Bill’s creative writing class, and Honor. Honor is more a friend of Derek’s than she is of Mike’s, but she’s nice enough. A really hard worker and he can respect that. Sometimes she’ll bring her girlfriend to their study group, Kennedy he thinks her name is, and they make a cute couple. Seeing as Emily had cello practice and it couldn’t make it tonight and Bill was being weird, Honor bringing someone else is fine in his book. It still won’t be crowded.
The library is warm on the tip of his cold nose and the smell of cinnamon wafts in the air underneath the yellow lights. The librarian has completely forgone Thanksgiving and put up Christmas decorations around the library. Crazy lady. Mike is too busy trying to get through midterms to even think about Thanksgiving, let alone Christmas. That and the fact that all Christmas does is remind him of the time Will went missing and the beginning of The Upside Down chapters.
Derek and he sit in their usual corner, the one with a long couch and some musty bean bags. Patty is already there, glaring down her essay but she smiles at them when she sees them and greets them with a soft “Hi,” as she always does.
She and Derek make small talk while Mike digs out his work. He feels fairly well prepared for his exams but better safe than sorry. Is Max prepared at all? Does she need help- No! He’s not going to think about her right now! … But does she need help to study?Fuck him.
“Hey, guys!” Honor greets them very chirpy, tearing him away from staring blankly at his sheet of formulas, “Sorry I’m a little late but this is Stanley, he’s in my Intro Into Advanced Mathematics!”
Suddenly Mike sees why Bill didn’t want to come. Stanley gives them all a small smile and nods as he sits down on the couch by Honor. They look like a pair of twins honestly. They're both in sweater vests with button-ups underneath. The only difference between the two is Honor is in a skirt with tights and Stanley has khaki pants on. It makes sense that they're friends.
Stanley must not recognize Mike from last night because something tells him if he did, he wouldn’t be sitting with their study group. He looks more put together now than he did last night but Mike sees the faint outline of concealer on his neck, covering the mark that Bill made. Stanley just doesn’t seem like a guy who would fool around with a guy like Bill. The few times he's seen Stanley studying in the library he always came off as too intimating to approach. Never like Bill with his goofy smile. He seems too put together and Bill…isn’t. He's Bill.
Not to say that Bill isn’t attractive and can’t pull, but Stanley is some other level of pretty. Doesn’t look human. Actually, he reminds Mike of those vampires from the Twilight movies that he watched with Nancy, not an imperfection to be seen on him. Mike isn’t the only person who’s noticing how pretty he is as he can see Patty eyeing Stanley from the corner of his eye. This probably won’t bode well for Bill, someone who considers Patty a friend. Whatever he has his own problems to worry about.
Their study group is quiet for the first hour but by the second hour, they’re quizzing each other with flashcards and actually havingfun. Derek has resorted to throwing pieces of M&Ms that he found at the bottom of his backpack at someone whenever they get a question wrong. All five of them are smart so he doesn’t get a chance to pelt them often so soon he just starts throwing them a Mike for fun. Especially whenever he says something sarcastic.
That too eventually pitter patters out and the conversion moves past midterms and onto the holidays. Who’s going home for Thanksgiving? Any special plans? Who got lucky and gets to stay at the university and enjoy the quiet campus?
Patty mentions something about being excited to go home to visit her synagogue there, to which Stanley takes interest in. Turns out they're both Jewish. Mike pretends to not see the looks Patty starts to send Stanley after that. Poor Bill.
Derek says how he’s going home for Thanksgiving and Mike knows Emily also is going home too. Mike’s mom would kill him if he didn’t make it back for the holiday so that means Bill gets the apartment all to himself for the week. Mike is many things and sometimes one of those things is a nosy nelly. Also, other people’s problems are a good distraction from his own, not that he wants to deal with them either.
So of course he mentions this tidbit offhandedly to the group, gauging Stanley’s reaction to Bill being brought up. It’s only because he’s looking at Stanley that he sees the blink and you miss it recognition of fear in him. Huh.
“Oh, Bill’s not heading home to Derry?” Patty asks curiously.
Derek answers around the mouthful of M&Ms he just popped in his mouth, “Nah said his parents are traveling so he just decided to hang back. Enjoy the empty apartment,” he mutters the next part, “Lucky bastard.”
“Derry? Stanley, didn't you say where from there?” Honor looks at him. She is always so quick to put things together. Which is lucky for Mike because this is interesting.
Stanley's smile doesn’t look forced but Mike doesn’t buy how easy it is for him,  “Yes I’m from there. Bill and I were classmates but we never interacted much.” Funny, could’ve fooled Mike based on last night’s interaction that he saw between those two, “I’m looking forward to the break at home, I miss my parents.” Stanley continues. Then his eyes land on Mike and it’s like he mindread Mike’s snarky comment and is looking for payback, “What about you Mike? Any plans for when you go home?”
Great. Now they get to find out that Mike doesn’t have any friends at home anymore and the most exciting thing he’ll be doing is listening to Holly gossip about the cute boys in her class. Maybe Robin will come home with Nancy, she’s at least entertaining. “Uh nope, not really. My little sister will talk my ear off about boys in her class so I’ll mainly be trying to escape that.”
“Aw I remember what it was like to be like that,” Patty sighs.
Derek pops another M&M into his mouth as he speaks and Mike is tempted to snatch them away at this point, “No friends from school you can run to their house to hide?”
Mike doesn’t want to talk about The Party, not with these people. Nothing against them but they’re not the people he fought literal demon-monsters alongside.Max is one of those people. And besides, after everything that went down, The Party is only altogether in the same room once in a blue moon. He doesn’t even knowwhowill be home for the holidays. He seriously doubts Max will be, there’s no one left for her in Hawkins.
“Not really, the friend group I had in school all kinda went their separate ways once we graduated.” That is partly a lie, Lucas and Will see each other all the time and El, bless her, frequently tries to reach out to him and everyone. She’s the lifeline between what is the remains of The Party and he knows it’s because she misses how things used to be. Whenever theydoget together it's because of her.
“Sometimes that’s for the best,” Stanley says quietly. He says that with what almost sounds like…empathy?Strange.
Honor shakes her head, “I disagree, I think it’s sad. The people we knew in high school saw us when we were in our developmental stages. We grew up with them and in a way, we’re always bound to them. Seeing them is like a sense of coming home or a sense of nostalgia from our childhood.”
He immediately thinks of Max as she says this. If he’s being honest with himself he wants nothing more than to go on and pretend that last night never happened. That he never found out about how bad Max has gotten. But he can’t.He may not be a great person but he can’t at least not try to help Max. It wouldn’t hurt to reach out to El while he’s back home. He doesn’t have to tell her directly that it’s Max, just a friend from school, because El is always so willing to help people she'll take what he says at that. She can give him advice so that he knows where to start with Max. He’s going to help her to the best of his abilities, whether she likes it or not.Fuck,he owes her that.
Mike scoffs at Honor, “You gonna get off your high horse now? Some of us are just friendless losers in our hometown Madame Popular.”
Honor snatches the rest of the M&Ms out of Derek’s hand and proceeds to pelt him with them. He kinda deserves it.
A/N: I've been going through a lot of personal problems but now that they're finally over I feel like I can write again so expect more updates!
OKAY LOOK Mike is not the best at dealing with the situation that is Max right now. Keeping him in character means he doesn't know what to say and honestly in this chapter he caused more harm than good. I will reiterate; this is a slow burn. Max and Mike will end up together and Max will get better...just with time.
Yes I had to put Honor Rose in here from The Honor Society Movie and YES I had to make Kennedy her gf because imo they should've been endgame in that movie. Also I just love her.
Stenbrough dynamics were being set up in the background of this chapter but at the story goes on they'll be more of a backburn ship!
Also thank you to everyone who left a comment on the first chapter! Comments really do fuel the motivation to keep writing this story and I'm so happy to see ya'll along for the ride!
And a question, do ya'll want shorter chapters and quicker updates or longer chapters and slower updates?

PAIRING: richboy!kang taehyun x fem!reader
SYNOPSIS: He’s been a pain in your ass since you began working at the club. He’s arrogant and insanely wealthy, and you’re struggling to simply pay tuition. Needless to say, it’s not quite the match made in heaven… or so it seems.
WC. 11,200+
GENRE: rich kid au, country club au, e2l au, crack, fluff
WARNINGS: mild language, illegal activity, y/n’s an actual dumbass, and taehyun’s kind of a dick lol
.
You repeatedly tapped your pen against your sticky, worn checkbook, awaiting a response from the refined, old lady sitting comfortably under a patio umbrella. You, on the other hand, felt the scorching heat of the summer sun against your back, making you sweat uncontrollably—you could only hope you didn’t resemble a drenched pig. The woman eyed you, a bit too judgmentally for your liking, before pointing her perfectly manicured nail at the menu in her hand, “I want this pasta, but make it gluten-free. Throw in another iced tea, too… extra lemon, of course!”
You winced at her shrill voice.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry, all of our pasta is made from flour,” you explained patiently. Her right eye twitched. You were an obstacle in her way of getting what she desired, she was angry. Lovely. However, above all, she was confused, “Just tell the chef to make it without flour, let him know it’s a special request. I don’t see the issue.”
“Ma’am, I’m telling you… there’s no way to make it without flour, we just don’t have the type of noodle you want in house.”
She drummed her hand on the table, absolutely fuming. She glanced at you like you kicked a puppy, it was absolutely infuriating. She grasped for nothing as her brain formulated any response, “This is outrageous! I want to speak with a manager. Now!”
You sighed, “Gladly.”
It was astounding, truly, the lack of self-awareness and consideration some people had... or, didn’t have. You wished, so badly, to tell them off, but you desperately needed the cash. After all, college wouldn’t pay for itself and the bills piling on your coffee table wouldn’t just magically disappear. You swiftly turned around and trudged away, scanning the vast garden for your manager, Yeonjun, but unsurprisingly, he was nowhere to be found. You’d known him long enough to assume he was hiding in the manager’s office, his poor attempt to flee from the overbearing, entitled crowd. How he scammed his way into a managerial position, a position of authority… that was beyond you.
You were halfway across the floor, pushing past another server when you felt an intense stare land on you. You halted in place, knowing exactly who the gaze belonged to. You glanced at the table stationed in the far corner of the garden, instantly meeting his piercing stare. He eyed you shamelessly, a signature habit of his, before throwing you a smug grin. You weren’t going to kid yourself, he wore the smirk well.
Too bad he was a pompous ass.
Kang Taehyun. You hated saying his name, it humanized him and he was anything but human. Rather, he was an evil, irritating demon spawn simply disguising himself as human. And the cherry on top? He was the absolute bane of your existence.
There was a hint of mischief in his eyes and something else you couldn’t quite pinpoint, but you didn’t necessarily want to. He opened his mouth to call you over, but much to your dismay, decided against it and instead rose from his seat to saunter over to you. You tried fleeing the scene the millisecond he stood up, but the elderly lady directly in front of you shuffled quite slowly, blocking your exit and trapping you in place. You tapped your foot impatiently as he approached you.
“You look… sweaty,” he observed, chuckling at your less-than-appealing state. Truth be told, though he didn’t like admitting it to himself, he thought you looked beautiful.
“Taehy—” he forcibly cut you off by landing his slender finger on your lips. You ignored the spark you felt from the small contact. He let his gaze travel to your Cupid’s bow momentarily, a part of him wanting to kiss your frown away.
“Ah, not Taehyun,” he reminded you smoothly. You considered biting his finger off, but you prided yourself on your outstanding professionalism. Granted, it significantly dwindled every time you spoke to him.
“Gosh, I’m so sorry,” you mumbled monotonously. “Mr. Kang… if you don’t remove your hand from my mouth, I will shove a menu so far up your ass, you’ll choke,” you snapped, a pretty smile adorning your face.
“Oh, Y/N. Your customer service and approachable personality never fail to amaze me,” he stated, drawing his finger away from you. He continued despite the growing, fiery rage in your eyes, “I’d like another fork, mine’s a bit dirty.”
“That’s your problem. I’m not your waitress, I have my own customers to deal with, so if you don’t mind…”
He completely disregarded your subtle plea for him to leave. “For your information, I’d much rather prefer you as a server and not him,” he admitted, throwing a spare glance at his server—Hyunjin, if you were guessing from the blond hair.
“That’s too bad…” you trailed as you mustered up the fakest sympathetic pout you could. You continued, “Anyways, I really hate to cut this short, but I’d better get going. I’m sure you’ll survive with your fork. You probably won’t get tetanus, but fingers crossed.”
“Yeah, best of luck with Cinderella’s stepmom,” he mumbled, gesturing to your awaiting customer. He flashed you a confident wink before whirling around and returning to his seat. You scoffed, your lips tilting downward into an ugly grimace. The snapping sound from a couple of feet away brought you out of your disgusted daze. The lady you had spoken to was repeatedly snapping her fingers in an attempt to grab your attention. You were met with an expectant gaze when you directed your focus back on her. She was poised, her spine in perfect posture and hands folded properly across her lap; her body language exhibited no sign of emotion until you reached her watchful glare, clearly telling you to hurry along. You inhaled sharply before plastering on a fake smile. You resumed your hunt for Yeonjun, but once again, you felt the weight of a cocky stare land on your back.
He was challenging you, silently. You knew it. Unfortunately for him, you had no interest in playing his silly, childish game, so you clenched your jaw and walked away.
· ──────────────────── ·
As odd as it was, you and your best friend had a favorite bench. It sat a block from the country club and in the middle of a hidden, rugged park, but it was your safe space; it’d been your favorite place since you both found it in fourth grade. After every grueling shift, Kai would meet you on the bench with dinner. The food was almost always inedible, but you weren’t there for his cooking, rather his company. He was already perched on the bench, kicking at a pebble beneath his feet. He heard you approach but kept his focus on the fascinating rock.
“God, took you long enough, I’ve been here forever. I started to think you ditched me for one of those rich boys,” he complained. When you didn’t retort with a snarky comeback like you normally would’ve, he turned from his spot and glanced at your disheveled figure, immediately letting out an obnoxious laugh.
You looked like shit.
Your hair was a disaster, the wisps of hair framing your face no longer considered stylish, but rather unkempt and as Kai liked to put it, “homeless-like.” Not only did you look bad, you felt unclean. The sweat behind your knees was quickly becoming uncomfortably sticky and your mascara was rubbing off, making you look like a rabid raccoon.
Despite all that, you were happy to see Kai, his bubbly personality never failed to cheer you up—but you’d never let him be privy to that.
You shot him the nastiest glare you could muster, but that proved difficult considering the little energy you had left.
“Aw, Y/N…”
“I’m going to quit, I swear to God. If I have to hear one more soccer mom complain about her salmon being too fishy, I’m going to have to start perfecting my mugshot pose,” you grumbled through clenched teeth. He made a noise of disagreement, “Let’s not throw your ass in jail just yet. Orange makes you look like a traffic cone.”
You shot him an indignant glare, “Thanks.”
“That’s what I’m here for. Anyways, I made us some hamburgers and managed to grab some extra soda cans before leaving home. So bone app the teeth or whatever.”
You snorted. He always brightened your mood, just a simple sentence could lift your sad spirit. You had to give it to him, the burger looked pretty appetizing… but you’d learned that with his cooking, much like anything else, appearances can be quite deceiving. Despite this, you inhaled your burger, ignoring the fact that the meat was undercooked and the mayonnaise was likely expired. You paid no attention to the fact that your soda was lukewarm and flat—you sipped on it regardless. Your mind was elsewhere, easily drowning out whatever Kai was ranting about.
“... I know you probably had a bad day ‘cause of your boy,” he observed quietly.
You snapped your focus back, “My boy?”
“Yeah, your boy. The one you think is a self-righteous prick, but secretly think is really hot. Hm, what was it… Terry? Tyler? Taeyong?... Oh, I got it. Trash can.”
You scoffed, “Taehyun, most certainly, is not my boy. I can’t stand him. His head is so far up his flat ass, I’m surprised he’s still breathing.”
Kai nodded in feigned understanding. He tilted an eyebrow quizzically before opening his mouth, but you beat him to it.
“And I don’t think he’s cute!”
“... And I’m Beyoncé.”
You didn’t respond, too tired to argue with him. Instead, you let out a small noise of disagreement before resting your head on his broad shoulder, contently sipping on your warm soda. He knew how tired you were; everyday he watched you wear yourself down to practically nothing, it hurt him. He leaned his head against your own, placing a hand atop your thigh and squeezing reassuringly. You allowed yourself to relax, breathing in the humid, summer air. You stayed like that until he let out a small laugh.
“Let’s rob him,” Kai suddenly suggested. He was joking, obviously, but you still perked at the idea. You turned to face him expectantly, straw loosely hanging from your mouth. He visibly retracted, “Jeez, Y/N, I was kidding.”
“I’m not.”
“… I’m not robbing someone.” He threw you a cautious glare before aggressively taking a large bite of his burger and chugging his flat soda. You were losing your mind, he was sure of it. You poked curiously, “So I’m assuming your stance on graffitiing is the same.”
He pressed his lips into a thin line before letting out an exasperated sigh, “Obviously.”
You turned away, sulking, and he couldn’t help but snicker. You were his best friend and had been since second grade, but if he said he didn’t think you were a dumbass, he'd be lying.
“Come on, it’s time to get you home, you have an early shift tomorrow,” he reminded suddenly, mouth still full. You smacked his arm, disgusted by his lack of basic manners. He opened his mouth to showcase all his unchewed food.
You gagged.
“You’re disgusting!” you screeched, shuffling away from him. He chased after you, catching you almost immediately. His long legs made it easy. He effortlessly tossed you over his shoulder, ignoring your squirming, and carried you to his car, “Hush, I know you love me.”
“Gross. Never.”
He slapped the back of your calf and you squeaked, “Kai! Put me down! Now!”
“No, not until you say it. Make it believable, too.”
He wasn’t joking, you knew that. Eleven years of friendship and he was still as shameless as the day you met him. More so, if anything. Yes, his eight-year-old self was quite the charmer. You grumbled monotonously, “Kai, what can I say… you’re the light of my life, my hero, my best friend. I don’t know what I’d do without you. Probably die. I love you, I guess.”
“Too sarcastic, but it’ll do,” he conceded. He set you down and held in a laugh. Your hair looked even worse than before. He slung an arm around your shoulder, “Okay, get in the car. Hurry. I’d rather not listen to you complain about your lack of beauty sleep… again.”
· ──────────────────── ·
You mindlessly typed in a complicated order as Yeonjun watched your gaze drift over to the garden.
“You’ve pressed that button so much, the console’s probably broken. Cool it,” he reprimanded gently. Your attention snapped back to the screen which was littered with incorrect orders.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what has me so distracted today,” you mumbled sheepishly. He chuckled and gave you a comforting nudge on the shoulder, “I think I know exactly why.”
Your gaze followed his and instantly landed on Taehyun. As much as you hated to admit, he looked good. Great, even. It looked like he’d just walked out of a rager, especially with his tie undone and shirt untucked, which he pulled off beautifully. His hair was slightly disheveled and you suddenly had the strongest urge to run a hand through it.
Your eyes widened at the sudden thought and you aggressively shoved it to the back of your mind. “I don’t like him!”
“I never said you did.” he argued, suppressing a mirthful grin. Yeonjun reminded you of Kai, especially with his insistence on your attraction to Taehyun, or as you believed, lack thereof. He continued, “Just a reminder, though. The line between love and hate is so, so thin.”
Rather than responding and saying something that would surely get you fired, you huffed and turned your focus back on the order, unaware of your aggressive punching on the console’s screen. You were already having a rough day, but everyday spent at the country club was considered less-than-stellar. Yeonjun gave you a reassuring smile before sulking off to deal with another whiny, overbearing customer. You unconsciously let your gaze travel back over to Taehyun and was instantly met with a genuine smile, just not one directed to you. He laughed at a joke, oblivious to your longing and thank God, if he caught you staring, you’d never hear the end of it. His smile was just so pretty, you couldn’t help but feel giddy. Sure, you hated him—that’s what you told yourself—but you could appreciate a handsome face. As if on cue, Taehyun turned in your general direction and you quickly scrambled out of sight. As you turned, Hyunjin scrambled by you, the heavy tray resting on his shoulder nearly beheading you. His long, wavy blond hair, which was in a nice, neat half-ponytail at the beginning of his shift, was now splaying in every direction—he was beyond stressed. If the messy hair wasn’t enough, his hooded eyes were getting darker. You approached him as he grabbed a checkbook, “Hyun, you look like a mess.”
“Hey, Y/N! Yeah, I just have a lot of floor to cover, and they’re all extra demanding today,” he explained, short of breath. He groaned as he watched another set of people sit in his section and continued, “God, please cover me. I’ll owe you one. I’m already overwhelmed with my current table number.”
You laughed understandingly, “Of course.”
“You’re the best, it’s table thirty.” He squinted to get a good look, “Oh! I know that customer, he’s a great tipper. You should be just fine.”
You shifted your attention to the table in question, immediately deflating as you saw Taehyun sitting with a friend. You turned around to protest, but Hyunjin was already gone.
You internally screamed before trudging over to his table, gathering all of your dignity... kissing his arrogant ass wasn’t necessarily on your agenda for today. When Taehyun saw you approach his table, he did little to hide his pleased smirk. You undid your balled fist.
“Hi. My name is Y/N, I’ll be your server today,” you monotonously stated, an unenthusiastic but convincing smile plastering your face. To any other guest, it would’ve been believable, but Taehyun knew better; your server persona didn’t fool him.
“Y/N. What a pretty name,” his friend observed, a bit too flirtatiously for your liking. Taehyun noticed too, judging from the way he narrowed his eyes and tongued his cheek. And also the way he obviously kicked his friend’s leg under the table. You mustered a sweet smile, hoping to mask your disgust, “Thank you! That’s so… nice. Anyway, what would you like to drink? We got in a new Italian wine, just delivered today.”
“That’s alright, just water.”
“Water.”
Cheap. Especially for a pair of chaebol children.
“Alright! I’ll be back momentarily,” you informed, smile dropping the instant you turned away. As you trailed back to the kitchen, you heard Taehyun give his friend a hushed reprimanding making you smirk. You passed Yeonjun, noticing he looked as if he was about to lose his sanity. You gave him an encouraging pat on the shoulder—for someone so young, he managed well. Of course, he used his handsome face and charm as often as possible; his attractiveness and charisma was dangerous. He managed to grasp the attention of everyone and it aided him greatly. You pressed quizzically, “Jun, you don’t seem good.”
“Says you. You’re lover boy’s server. What a shocking, juicy turn of events. I’m on my toes,” he teased impishly. You stared at him vacantly. Yeonjun continued to poke fun, enjoying the lack of response you gave as you procrastinated to avoid returning to Taehyun’s table, but sadly, there was only so long it could take to fill a glass with water. Yeonjun pouted sympathetically, “Good luck.”
You didn’t need luck. No. To spend a precious hour or more, waiting on a privileged, disgustingly wealthy teenage boy, specifically Kang Taehyun, you needed patience, self-control, and temper management. You reminded yourself of just that as you approached him, placing his water near his plate, “Gentlemen, are you ready to order?”
You jotted down his friend’s order, ignoring the growing complexity as he piled on request after request, no sign of stopping. “... And I need it lukewarm. Not room temperature, but lukewarm.”
You diligently suppressed the eye roll that nearly bubbled up. Honestly, you’d dealt with far worse, Taehyun’s friend didn’t even scratch the surface.
You had to wonder though, did people like this ever feel shame?
You faced the cocky redhead, “And for you… Mr. Kang?”
You cringed. He didn’t miss the nearly imperceptible flash of disgust that crossed your expression. He grinned, “Just the lasagna. While you’re at it, I’d like another glass of water.”
“You already have a full glass,” you seethed, glancing at the glass you had just set down. He enjoyed this: testing you, pushing you, slowly dwindling your sanity until you snapped. He wanted to get a reaction from you, anything other than the bored, disinterested expression you gave him every single day. He smiled innocently, “What can I say… I like staying hydrated.”
His amusement was irritating. Unsurprisingly, his torment was based on the stupid, outdated notion that a boy has to show interest by picking on his crush, but you weren’t privy to his inner thought process. You suppressed another eye roll as you turned to grab a pitcher from Hyunjin, the boy sprinting behind you with a full tray. You felt bad for him, at least, until you remembered he pawned Taehyun’s table onto you and your pity became short lived. You filled an empty glass, increasingly aware of Taehyun’s piercing stare. Your emotionless expression would’ve given him no indication as to how nervous you felt if it weren’t for the slight blush that painted your face.
He smirked victoriously. You hated it.
A breath of relief escaped you as his attention turned to his friend. He leaned back in his seat and lifted a hand to rest behind his head, accidentally smacking the pitcher, causing you to spill the cold water onto his lap. He flinched at the sudden icy contact.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” you gasped, fishing a stray napkin from your apron. Normally, he would’ve brushed it off, considering it was his fault, but he felt pressured under the expectant gaze of his snobbish peer. Plus, he gained the reaction he wanted from you... something other than disgust. He feigned offense as he dramatically pushed his seat back and stood up, easily towering over you, “Next time, try not sucking at your job!”
He immediately regretted his outburst but he showed no sign of remorse, not when he had a reputation to uphold. God forbid, he could actually be a considerate person.
More importantly, though, he pushed too far this time and there wasn’t much turning back. You winced at his tone, withering back from his harsh statement, though you quickly replaced your hurt with unadulterated rage. Your blood boiled as your vision went red, steam practically fuming from your ears. Your pained expression broke his heart and he nearly dropped his act, but before he could do or process anything, his silk shirt was sticking uncomfortably to his body as ice water seeped through. His slacks were drenched and his designer loafers were completely ruined. He didn’t pay much attention to that, though... not when you were an inch from his face, holding an empty water pitcher over his head.
“I quit,” you lowly hissed. You firmly shoved the pitcher into his hand and scoffed as he stumbled back from the force. All eyes were on you as you stalked off, hastily tossing your apron into the nearest trash can. Yeonjun gave you a quick nod, his subtle way of telling you he was proud.
He’d get your resignation letter another day.
Taehyun helplessly called after you but it was useless. You were too far gone to care.
· ──────────────────── ·
You slammed your car door shut, absolutely fuming. You blankly stared at the frog keychain hanging from your rearview mirror. Normally, you would’ve smiled at the small figurine, but in the moment, you wanted to punt it into another timezone. It’s cheeriness pissed you off to no end. You quickly fished your phone out to dial Kai’s number, the line ringing thrice before he picked up, groaning, “I’m trying to sleep.”
His voice seemed muffled, likely from the thirty plushies he insisted on sleeping with.
“It’s dinner time.”
“It’s called a nap, genius.”
“Alright, well, I just quit my job… and I might have dumped a pitcher of water onto Taehyun’s stupid, privileged ass.”
The line fell silent. You wouldn’t have been surprised had he hung up on you—your tendency to act impulsively drove him up the wall and he was nearing his limit. You patiently awaited his response, likely a reprimanding scold.
“Y/N, what the fuck.”
“He had it coming, I swear,” you promised. In detail, you explained your biased side of the story, ignoring the obvious judgement emanating from the opposite line. The minute you finished, you spotted Taehyun’s panicked figure run into the full parking lot, frantically searching for you; you ducked behind your steering wheel, praying he didn’t see you. You squeaked, cutting off Kai’s tangent, “Oh my God! Oh my God! He followed me!”
He sighed. “If you dumped ice water on me, I’d be chasing after you too.”
You peeked curiously from your spot, seeing he had yet to find you. The cogs in your mind churned slowly, mixing in with your rage, “What if we graffitied his house?”
“You’re an idiot.”
“I’m serious, I want to do it! He can’t just get away with humiliating me in front of the entire club, waitstaff, and my manager. And graffitiing isn’t illegal… ish.”
You could practically picture his narrowed gaze, “It’s definitely, most certainly, illegal. Sunshine, I understand your anger, hell, I’d be outraged, but revenge isn’t always the answer. And graffiti isn’t the most… sound idea.”
You crossed your arms defensively, “It’s a genius idea.”
“It really isn’t.”
“I’m going to do it, regardless of if it’s a good idea or not. You’re either in or out.”
Once more, the line fell quiet. His mind churned, concluding there wasn’t a chance in hell you’d follow through—you were simply too chicken. He laughed, “Fine. I’m in.”
“Great! Find his address, I’ll be over soon.”
You hung up and regained your composure. Taehyun spotted your car as you buckled in your seatbelt, making direct eye contact with your enraged figure. You were surprised, he didn’t seem angry, rather regretful. Almost apologetic.
But you didn’t care.
You sped off the lot without sparing him a final glance.
· ──────────────────── ·
“Have faith in me! Finding his address isn’t going to be hard. You know, I’m a tech whiz, it runs in the family.”
You snickered, “Beomgyu getting accepted into the computer science program at his university doesn’t mean you got the tech gene. You’re the worst with technology, you can’t even remember your laptop login half the time.”
He eyed you challengingly, before cracking his knuckles and typing furiously. Only a single minute had passed before he was yelling, “Jackpot! I found it!”
You were thrown for a loop. He was quite technologically inept, he couldn’t even open a browser without some trouble, let alone find an address. You stared at him quizzically, a smidge of doubt crossing your mind. He deflated, avoiding your hard gaze, “Okay… maybe, just maybe, I called Gyu before you arrived and had him help.”
You snorted. “Yeah, that tracks.”
You sighed and tossed yourself back on his plush bed, staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars plastered on his ceiling. You laughed quietly, you remembered putting them up there—it was really only a year ago. See, Kai had this whole star-sticker-related schtick or as he liked to put it, “Inability to have them as a child which subsequently caused emotional damage.”
You had just returned from a grueling shift and you were exhausted, weak, and insanely pissed—reason being Taehyun, of course.
It was always Taehyun.
In a frivolous attempt to cheer you up, Kai suggested pasting the stickers onto his ceiling. Honestly, it was more stressful than fun. He constantly wobbled around the bed, nearly dropping you several times as you sat perched on his broad shoulders and stuck them up. It kept you busy though, and thus, kept your mind off of Taehyun.
It was funny, honestly. For someone that swore they hated him, you sure thought about him a lot. He took residence in your mind and you felt like the landlord trying to evict him.
Even at that moment, you couldn’t stop thinking about him. Of course, you were in denial. You told yourself it was natural to be thinking about him; after all, you were going to destroy his property. There was absolutely no other reason as to why he ran free in your mind… none at all.
Kai knew you were overthinking. It wasn’t hard to tell, especially since your forehead usually tended to crease in the ugliest manner when you did. He tried reeling you out of your daze, “So, we’re going to commit a crime.”
“Yep.”
“... There’s no turning back.”
“I know. I’m not going to chicken out.”
He couldn’t help but laugh, of course you’d chicken out. You always did. He didn’t see any harm in indulging you with your idiotic plan, so he found the address. No harm, no foul. Right?
· ──────────────────── ·
You anxiously picked at the leather seating beneath you, nearly tearing a hole in the worn fabric.
“Yo, cool it. Jihyo is already pretty fucked up,” Kai warned. Oh, Jihyo. You still couldn’t believe he named his old, rickety car—let alone after his ex. His car looked as if it had a mile left in it before it ultimately broke down, but you had to put some blind trust in Jihyo. After all, she was your getaway car if everything went south. You’d been sitting in Kai’s passenger seat for half an hour, coming up with nearly every excuse not to proceed with the crime.
“We really don’t have to do this. Not to mention, I don’t want to do this,” he grumbled.
“Then why are you here?”
Imagine his surprise when you showed up at his door, decked out in all-black, stealthy gear, hope and adrenaline coursing through your body. He truly believed you would’ve backed down by now, and a small part of him hoped you still would, but the odds weren’t looking in his favor.
“I’m not letting you go to jail! I can’t get through the school year without you, especially now that Jihyo—human Jihyo—is starting to spread her stupid, little personal agenda against me. Like, yeah, I broke up with you and that’s rough, but maybe next time, try not being manipulative… or a cheater,” he rambled. You flashed him a sympathetic smile; he said he was over it but you knew better. You patted his arm comfortingly and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, a flustered, shy smile replacing his pout.
“Guess what? I think I know exactly what’ll make you feel better,” you whispered sweetly.
His smile instantly turned down into an exasperated frown, “Mhm, let me guess… robbing the rich boy you have a crush on.”
“I don’t have a crush on him! Why would I like him? He yelled at me in front of the entire club! And we’re not robbing him, we’re simply… graffitiing his house. Tastefully.
“So you admit, you had a crush on him.”
“No! I’m just saying!”
He pointedly rolled his eyes and turned his attention to the castle-like house across the street, not wanting to have that conversation with you. He mumbled something that sounded an awful lot like idiot but you let it slide, instead choosing to focus on the task at hand.
“Okay, so the gate code is probably something stupid like his birthday, his mom is probably sentimental like that,” you mumbled to yourself. You tapped your foot anxiously as you tried to formulate a coherent plan. You slowly continued, “The only problem is the crazy amount of security cameras around his house. Like, who needs that many cameras? People are dying.”
“God, I hate you,” Kai grumbled.
You ignored him, “There has to be a blind spot, somewhere a camera won’t cover. Hm…” you studied the perimeter, searching for that camera-free sweet spot. At that moment, you found a tiny patch of grass, hidden under a massive oak tree.
Bingo.
You shook Kai’s arm aggressively, “Look! Right there, that’s the spot. That tree has to cover the camera.”
He rested his head against the steering wheel, “Let’s get this over with.”
As you both climbed out of his car, you couldn’t help but feel a bit out of place. The street was littered with fancy, expensive cars while Jihyo looked like she belonged in the dump, making you even angrier. Kai crept over to the sidewalk, insisting on creeping in the shadows like a vigilante. You, on the other hand, struggled to carry your duffel bag full of equipment, constantly getting slowed down by the exceptional weight. That was your fault though, you packed it full of necessary, outstandingly heavy equipment (necessary being a loose term). Alongside the many cans of paint sat a bag of Goldfish, three juice boxes (because Kai is a massive baby), a faulty navigation system, a not-at-all threatening ski mask, and a broken hammer.
You didn’t remember packing that hammer.
You settled in front of Taehyun’s gate, hoping your birthday theory was correct. Of course, simply because it was you and your luck was awful, it wasn’t. You began pressing random keys, hoping something would work but it was fruitless. Nothing worked, not even the basic combinations. You huffed, “I guess we’re going to have to climb our way in.”
You mentally prepared yourself as Kai sent a couple of prayers out for good measure. He eyed your duffel bag curiously before opening it, instantly met with a multitude of spray paint in all shades. He narrowed his eyes and scoffed, “Jesus, Y/N! Where the hell did you get all this shit?”
“... Craigslist.”
“Bullshit, you were kicked off Craigslist years ago.”
You winced, insulted by his easy remark—he knew how sensitive you were about that. You kicked a pebble sheepishly, mumbling softly, “Fine, I bought the paint from Soobin…”
His eyes widened comically as his heart practically ripped out of his chest, “Soobin?! Choi Soobin?! You can’t be serious. No, there’s no way you bought from the school drug dealer! He’s a criminal! He probably tried to toss in some of that devil’s lettuce with your purchase, huh? Or worse… crack!”
You rolled your eyes and tossed your head back, he was always so dramatic. “Kai, he’s not a criminal. He’ll occasionally sell an edible or two, but that’s it! He didn’t try to sell me anything. Actually, he gave me a pretty good deal on this stuff.”
“Lovely, a modern-day businessman,” he grumbled sarcastically.
“Whatever, just help me climb the wall,” you huffed, zipping up your bag before tossing it over the blockade. Hesitantly, he got on one knee, muttering something you couldn’t quite hear—not that you wanted to anyways. You delicately stood on his knee as he pushed on your thighs in an attempt to boost you over.
Honestly, you struggled. Your weak muscles did little to aid in your quest, but Kai’s strength helped.
“God, take your sweet time, it’s not like your flat, piece of plywood ass is dangling in front of my face or anything. I’m about to throw up,” he gagged.
You scoffed, “Yeah, yeah, complain all you want but this is the most action you’ll ever see.”
“... I won’t hesitate to drop you on your face.”
However, before he could follow on his threat, you managed to hoist yourself over the brick wall. You offered a hand to Kai but instead of accepting, he eyed it mockingly, knowing you weren’t strong enough to lift him. He stretched his legs before taking a step back, giving him a running start, and surprising you both when he successfully lifted himself.
You placed your hand over his mouth, “Shh.. whisper. We’re in enemy territory now.”
He licked your palm, nearly making you screech, “Gross!”
He childishly stuck his tongue out. You shook your head and began scrounging the duffel bag for the perfect paint color. Of course, you wanted to create a masterpiece worthy of Kang Taehyun... you even considered tagging it. Kai silently sat on the grass, aimlessly picking at the freshly-cut blades as he watched you happily paint.
You were pleased to say that in the half an hour you’d been painting, nothing had gone awry... yet.
“The fuck is that supposed to be?” he questioned curiously, leaning closer to inspect the vulgar work.
“Taehyun,” you said easily.
“Really? ‘Cause it looks like a dick.”
“It’s called symbolism, Kai.” You stepped back to admire your work as if it were hung in the Louvre whilst Kai scrunched his nose, clearly offended by the unpleasant art.
“You know, it’s funny how you have the biggest crush on this dic—” Before he could further elaborate, he was interrupted by an awfully familiar voice.
“What the hell are you doing on my front lawn?”
You cringed. You’d been caught red-handed.
Kai turned slowly, surrendering with his hands up. You, however, kept your back turned, considering just going to hell with it and continuing your tasteful artwork. He glanced at you anxiously, silently pleading for you to put down the paint can.
Only because Kai looked a second away from fainting, you huffed and turned around, mimicking his pose, the only difference being the bored expression plastered on your face.
Taehyun stood in front of you, his arms crossed and irritation painted all over his body language, but as much as he tried to hide it, there was a glint of amusement behind his eyes. You hated how his obnoxious, stop sign hair managed to look amazing under the glow of the moonlight—it was beyond irritating. Arguably, his entire being was irritating. You held his gaze, silently challenging his presence. Kai, on the other hand, was sweating profusely and dramatically hyperventilating. He clutched onto your shoulder, failing to catch an actual breath, “Oh my God! I feel like my heart is pumping out lukewarm sewer water.”
He placed his hands on his knees as he hunched over and continued, “Please, Taehyun. Please, don’t hit me with your Lamborghini. I’m begging you.”
Taehyung blankly stared at the younger, completely forgetting he was even there. You rubbed your temple and hissed, “Will you shut the fuck up? You’re making this worse.”
“I don’t want to go to jail! My face is too pretty for jail, they’d murder me on sight for being the most gorgeous boy they’ve ever seen. God, please don’t call the cops… I’ll do anything,” Kai shamelessly begged. You were so close to punting him into the Pacific Ocean. Taehyun’s annoyingly gorgeous lips twisted into a smug grin as he directed his attention back on you, “Hm, and what about you, Princess? I don’t see you begging.”
You scoffed, “I’d rather eat Kai’s shoe.”
He simply hummed, “That’s too bad. You know, I have a family friend who’s a cop… I’ll convince him to go easy on you in jail.”
“The wealthy wielding control over the justice system… how unexpected.”
“Oh my God! Y/N’s kidding, she’ll do anything,” Kai blurted quickly, shooting you a death glare. Taehyun’s eyebrow lifted curiously, a satisfied smirk settling comfortably, “Is that true?”
“What the hell do you want?” you questioned hesitantly.
“A date.”
You briefly considered his words before shoving Kai forward, “Yeah, go nuts. He’s all yours.”
“... With you.”
You threw your head back and let out an inappropriate, hearty laugh. Even Kai let out a small snicker before replacing it with a fake cough, but Taehyun didn’t seem amused. He watched you expectantly, awaiting an answer.
“So this is the only way Kang Taehyun can score a date… by blackmailing them. You know, that actually makes sense,” you theorized to no one in particular. You simmered in silence for a short moment before Kai cleared his throat, hinting at his obvious discomfort. Taehyun was enjoying this, you just knew it.
That broken hammer never looked better...
“Fine,” you conceded. You glared at him, biting your tongue to prevent you from going off on his pompous ass. Taehyun’s eyes lit up with hope.
Kai let out a breath of relief before mumbling an apology and dragging you off the lawn. His grip on you tightened as you turned around one last time to shoot daggers at Taehyun. He stood comfortably in the middle of his manicured lawn, the porch lights behind him highlighting his pleased smirk, yet all you saw was red.
· ──────────────────── ·
Kai splayed across your bed, mindlessly picking at a random throw pillow while you spritzed a hint of perfume on your forearm. His gaze trailed over your figure curiously, “You’re quite dressed up for someone who’d rather sleep in a dumpster than go on this date.”
“Well I’m not about to walk into high society wearing a stained sweatshirt and joggers.”
He snorted, “Right, that’s the only reason.” You smoothed your shirt and gave yourself a once over, feeling quite confident in your choice of clothing. Kai wasn’t blind, he thought you looked nice, but he’d let pigs fly before he told you that. He continued, “You don’t look… that ugly.”
You rolled your eyes, knowing that was the closest you’d ever get to a compliment from him, “Thanks.”
“Do you know where he’s taking you?”
“Nope.”
If you were being honest, you didn’t care where he took you; you didn’t set any conscious expectations.
“Oh! Before I forget…” Kai smirked as he dug around his backpack. He tossed you a small, blue bottle of mouthwash. He winked cheekily, “You never know… mayhaps you’ll kiss him.”
You nearly threw up, “I most certainly will not be kissing anyone tonight, especially not his pretentious ass. Besides, you know about my rule.”
He groaned. He definitely knew about your rule, it was all you talked about after getting dumped by your last ex. After your last failed relationship (or four) you created a no-kiss policy for your first three dates. You wanted to make sure your kisses weren’t in vain, and honestly, it was fun just watching them work for it.
“The rule is dumb,” he reminded.
“... You’re dumb.”
You were busy dodging a pillow when your doorbell rang, signaling Taehyun’s arrival. You were shocked he didn’t just notify his presence by honking his horn—for a pompous ass such as himself, you wouldn’t have been surprised.
“It’s time,” you mumbled somberly.
“He isn’t the Grim Reaper. This is a date, it’s supposed to be a happy thing!” he tried encouraging sweetly as you stalked down the staircase, but to no avail, your mood didn’t lighten in the slightest.
You aggressively swung open your front door, nearly knocking Kai unconscious. Taehyun dressed simple but pleasant; his expensive, black sweater was expertly tucked into a nice set of slacks and the Cartier bracelet that adorned his wrist, perfectly accentuated his veins. His bright, red hair was styled messily and his cheeks were flushed, beautifully highlighting his angled nose and sharp jawline. Your mouth gaped, just slightly, as you drank him in—while he was always attractive, this specific look had you stunned. He held a single rose against his chest and it only made him look more ethereal, if that was even possible. When you looked up, you instantly noted the hint of panic in his eyes, which made you feel at ease.
“Taehyun,” you blankly addressed.
“Y/N! You look amazing, so beautiful…” he trailed as he handed you the rose. You grabbed it and immediately shoved it into Kai’s chest.
“Let’s get this over with,” you grumbled, pushing past him and harshly hitting his shoulder.
“... Right.”
“Hey, try not to murder him, I can’t afford bail. I make minimum wage,” Kai reminded, flashing Taehyun a sympathetic smile as the older trailed closely behind you. You were about to open his car door when he came rushing by, insisting on opening it for you. In return, you sent him a nasty glare, “I’m capable of opening my own door.”
“I’m just trying to be a gentleman.”
“A gentleman doesn’t go off on someone in the middle of a public space,” you reminded.”
He sighed. A mere five minutes into the date and he already felt defeated. He wished he could form a proper apology, but it would be futile—you’d just shut him down. So he decided to express his apology in the form of something he knew you’d accept; needless to say, he had a trick or two up his Gucci sleeve.
You kept your gaze focused on anything but him. Your arms were folded across your chest, the evident frown on your face doing very little to hide your irritation. Despite that, he still thought you looked beautiful… granted, every single time he spoke to you, you wore a frown so this wasn’t new to him.
“You look so pretty,” he complimented as he slid into the driver’s seat.
“I know.”
Of course he deserved every ounce of your cold, unwelcoming demeanor, but it still hurt. He was flushed but you didn’t notice since you made an obvious effort to scoot as far away from him as possible, practically pressing yourself up against the car door. However, the painful silence quickly overwhelmed you, so you hesitantly threw him a bone, “Where are you taking me?”
“It’s a surprise but I know you’ll like it. It’s my way of apologizing.”
“This better be a hell of an apology.”
“I promise you it is.”
You noticed his sincerity. His usual cockiness was replaced with shyness and a twinge of guilt, and you found it endearing. You stayed quiet for the remainder of the car ride, only a small sound of confusion as he pulled into a half-empty parking lot of a local carnival. A young employee approached the car and gave Taehyun a permitting nod, making you suspicious. He drove past the entrance gate and straight into a private space, parking next to a dinky, old ice cream truck. The space was close to a nearby forest, a bit too secluded for your taste.
“So you’re going to kill me,” you observed, scanning the dark environment around you.
He rolled his eyes. “No.”
“That’s what a murderer would say,” you mumbled.
You were so stubborn, he knew that, yet he still let out an exasperated sigh. He frowned and climbed out of his car, shuffling to your side, only to find you were already halfway out. You didn’t say anything, choosing to send another hard glare his way instead.
He headed in the direction of the carnival—not the forest—and gestured you to follow him. You trailed behind, ignoring the damp mud that stuck to the bottom of your cheap shoes. You felt a bit overdressed, but when you glanced at Taehyun, you felt better. However, the more you thought about it, his outfit likely cost more than your college tuition, putting a slight dent in your ego. You focused your attention on the glowing moon instead of him, and when he turned to look at you, he was in awe. You seemed peaceful, or at least, not as pissed.
It was nice.
He led you down to the middle of the fair where you saw a crowd gathered around a massive dunk tank. He seemed antsy, constantly shifting his weight and picked at the hem of his costly shirt. He momentarily abandoned your side and walked to the dunk tank operator, speaking briefly before grabbing a bucket filled of unknown stuff.
When he walked back, you stared curiously at the bucket which was full of heavy baseballs. “This is my apology.”
Vague.
As if he read your mind, he gently placed his hand on your shoulder and turned you to face the tank, pointing directly at the chair above the pool. “I’m going to be sitting on that chair. Your job is to throw them,” he gestured over to the bullseye, “at the target, until I’m submerged.”
You couldn’t suppress your smile. He was right, this was an apology you’d accept, an apology in the form of embarrassment. Smart boy.
He didn’t necessarily look forward to ruining his cashmere sweater, but he would’ve done anything to make it up to you, and your bright smile told him he was on the right path. You let out a light laugh, picking up a baseball and tossing it carelessly.
He spared you a final glance before shuffling off to his fate. He seemed to garner a lot of attention, the crowd had grown significantly larger since you first arrived. You held the ball in your hand as he climbed onto the chair—you were arguably a little too excited to send him into the cold, cold water. He seemed shaky, but you didn’t care. You threw the ball with no hesitation.
Strike one. You missed by a long shot.
He suppressed a laugh. You shook your body, ridding yourself of any anxiousness before trying once more.
Strike two. You were closer. Barely.
You had an unlimited amount of attempts, but the longer you failed, the more embarrassed you felt. He now seemed comfortable... prideful, even. Your face was flushed red from humiliation, but you tried to keep it from affecting you as you threw once more, this time, significantly more aggressive.
Strike three. This was outright shameful.
“C’mon, you can do better than that…” he baited. He couldn’t help but tease, it didn’t matter that you were on a date. The crowd let out a collective laugh. You scoffed indignantly, cracking your neck and back, your stare darkening. You were about to hit the winning shot, he knew it. He loosened his grip on the chair and leaned forward.
“I’m sorry,” he mouthed.
The longing, heartfelt expression in his eyes had you flustered. You nodded understandingly, reeling in his genuine apology, and flashing him a sympathetic, sincere smile before throwing the baseball straight at the bullseye, sending him (and his expensive outfit) straight into the tank.
You pumped a fist in the air as the crowd cheered. He emerged from the stale water, completely drenched. He shook hair away from his eyes before climbing from the tank and into a changing room, but not before finding your figure in the crowd. You wore a gentle, soft smile; for the first time, you looked at him with something other than hatred.
It gave him hope.
After changing, he appeared by your side as the crowd slowly dispersed, dressed a lot more comfortably. He changed into a pair of fitted (and designer, you just knew it) joggers and a clean, simple sweatshirt, pulled together with a silver chain hanging from his neck. He went from runway to streetwear yet he managed to look absolutely fantastic and it irked you. He seemed expectant yet nervous, constantly shifting his feet and biting his bottom lip. He needed reassurance and suddenly, you weren’t hesitant to provide it.
After a minute of painful silence, you conceded. “I forgive you.”
A deep sigh of relief escaped him. He’d practically been holding his breath since that day and all of a sudden, this weight had been lifted off his chest. A wave of solace washed over him, “Thank god. I didn’t know what I would’ve done if that didn’t work.”
You giggled softly. He short-circuited for a mere second; being the cause of your melodious laugh had him speechless. It was all new to him. Your laugh was so sweet, soft, and a drastic contrast from the person he was used to. He yearned to hear it again.
You peered up at him without saying a word.
He coughed awkwardly. “Right, uh, that didn’t take long at all. Let’s get you home, this was a waste of your time, I’m so sorry,” he rambled, turning in the direction of his car. You tilted your head questioningly. The night was still young and you had no interest in going back home. You were pleasantly surprised, all it took was a simple apology for your hidden, buried feelings to surface, though you knew how hard it was for him to apologize. Maybe that’s why you were so easy to forgive. You reached for his sleeve and gently tugged him back, “You asked me out on a date, so let’s do it.”
Going on an actual date was the last thing he expected. His plan for the night was to pick you up, try his best not to offend you more than he already had, and get dunked into some dirty, stale water. Of course he couldn’t refuse, seeing as his heart nearly soared from his chest. He nodded eagerly, “Y-yeah! Yeah! Okay, let’s have a date. Okay, uh, this is a carnival, right? I have to win you a plushie then, that’s just basic, carnival date knowledge. That’s the rule.”
You snorted. “Can’t break the rules then.”
He led you on over to the strength machine, eager to showcase his brawn—he hoped to impress you. His boyish mentality made you laugh, as endearing as it was, you couldn’t help but find it primitive and a bit childish. Nonetheless, you indulged him. He fished change from his wallet and you couldn’t help but notice the shiny, heavy, black card sitting comfortable in his wallet’s compartment; you suppressed an instinctual eye roll. He held the massive hammer in hand, attempting to hide the fact that it slightly weighed him down, despite his muscular build. He flashed you a confident wink before raining the hammer down on the target, sending the marker less than halfway up the pole. You coughed in an attempt to hide your laughter, you didn’t want to embarrass him, he’d already been dunked into a tank of mucky water.
He stood dumbfounded, “Okay, this is rigged.”
“Mhm, right.”
“Fine, hotshot. Give it a whirl then,” he challenged. You raised an eyebrow cockily, yanking the hammer from his hand. It was simple, all you had to do was send the marker higher than his. You smugly grinned before trying your luck, the marker barely rising an inch.
He slapped his knee and cackled. You were offended.
“This is rigged,” you mumbled.
“S’ok, love. There’s plenty of other stuff to do that isn’t rigged,” he encouraged, throwing a side eye at the gamer operator who simply shrugged in return. He slung an arm around your shoulder, choosing not to dwell on the way his heartbeat sped, “Let’s go get you a prize.”
· ──────────────────── ·
For him to win you a singular prize, it took a game of whack-a-mole, a shared slice of pizza, a tuft of cotton candy, a vigorous pep talk, and sprinkle of beginner’s luck. It was a cheap, funky-looking ring, but you wore it with the utmost pride.
You both talked excessively, really getting to know each other, and with each new detail, he fell harder. Your shy smile, adorable laugh, witty sense of humor… they were all just a bonus. Normally, you weren’t one to fall, if at all, but you found yourself going against your instinct and doing just that. In hindsight, though, it’d been a long time coming. He was hesitant to initiate any sort of skinship, considering you’d forgiven him an hour prior, but you proved opposite after you mindlessly reached for his hand the second you spotted your favorite ride.
“The spinning teacup! That’s a must!” You both felt the spark from the contact, it was unmistakable, but you both chose not to say anything. He let you drag him over, despite his aversion to the particular ride; he just couldn’t say no.
“Fine, but promise me you won’t spin fast.”
“Pinky promise.”
As the cup turned, albeit at snail pace, he admired the light wind that flowed delicately through your hair. You had a certain aura, he couldn’t help but notice. It was enchanting. The moonlight kissed your skin beautifully, it had him watching in infatuated awe.
“You’re staring.”
“Pssh, I’m not staring.” You eyed him and he crinkled his nose, “Fine, I was staring. I can’t help it, you’re beautiful.”
He didn’t know where the sudden confidence came from, perhaps it was just the motion sickness, but he didn’t regret it. You turned away from him, clearly flustered, and it made him smile. The ride ended quicker than he expected, but it was a welcomed relief, considering his well-being. The second he stepped from the cup, he fell to the floor.
“I barely spun the cup! It turned, like, a mile an hour!”
“I’m sensitive! I get sick easily.” He lifted himself off the ground, just slightly, continuing with a corny joke. “Look at me on the floor, I guess some might say… I fell for you.”
You snorted, not at the cheesy line, but the aggressive finger-gun that accompanied it. He tried to wink but failed, immediately hunching over from the queasy feeling in his stomach, “Oh my God, I’m going to die.”
He made an ugly, inhuman noise.
“Jesus Christ. Are you okay?”
“No, it’s fine, I’m great. I just think it’s my time to go.”
He reminded you a lot of Kai—both of them had an affinity for being overly dramatic.
You rubbed his back soothingly. He felt so embarrassed, but the feeling was overshadowed by the sickly feeling. You continued caressing, making sure to glare at anyone that dared judge him. You crouched down until you were eye level and brushed his hair from his forehead, giving him a small smile. At that moment, he could’ve sworn you were an angel of some sort. He felt better instantly.
“I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine,” he insisted, waving his hand carelessly, telling you not to worry.
“Let’s just head home. I’ll have Kai pick us up, he’ll definitely do it.” You paused, crinkling your forehead in thought, “Scratch that, he just got his license and ran over a cone yesterday.”
He stood up slowly, waving his hand once more. “In the recipe for a perfect carnival date, the ferris wheel is a must.”
You didn’t like where he was going with that.
“You’re going to hurl if we go on that. For real, this time.”
He rested his hand atop his heart. “I won’t! I swear.”
“I don’t know...”
He laced his hand with your own and pulled you to the carnival’s main attraction. He fiddled with the ring on your finger, proudly glancing at it every once in a while.
Just your luck, a slightly younger couple was paired with you on the ferris wheel. The ride operator shoved the four of you into the cramped, tiny compartment, ignoring the silent plea Taehyun sent her way. The other couple sat hesitantly with a noticeable distance between them, awkwardly shifting every now and then. The young men—one blond, one with raven black hair—stayed quiet and you couldn’t help but think they were also on their first date. They often glanced at each other but didn’t talk and Taehyun had to hide his amusement. All four of you simmered in uncomfortable silence for a good portion of the ride.
Taehyun unconsciously threw an arm around your shoulder and pulled you close as you laid your head on his shoulder. It was a subtle display of affection that made you blush, but he didn’t notice. Out of the corner of his eyes, Taehyun watched the blond boy copy his movement, just significantly clumsier—the poor boy accidentally smacked his boyfriend square on the nose. It took a lot for Taehyun (and you) to suppress an amused laugh.
“Oh my God! I’m so sorry,” whispered the blond. His boyfriend let out a small, nervous laugh, “It’s okay.”
The black-haired boy gently rubbed his nose before reaching for his boyfriend’s hand—a simple compromise. The blond avoided eye contact with you and Taehyun, choosing to shift his gaze to the carnival below. The black-haired boy spoke first, “We’re kind of… new to dating.”
The blond cringed, still looking at the fair, before nodding in agreement. You giggled at the obvious tension, quickly comforting, “It’s cute! You two seem like an adorable couple.”
The couple smiled fondly at each other. The blond squeezed his boyfriend’s hand reassuringly and it made you smile. They seemed so in love, you were swooning. The remainder of the ride was silent and the couple chose to get off the ride after the first go-around. The blond meekly nodded his head in Taehyun’s direction and your boy gently returned the gesture with a shy, caring smile.
As soon as they were out of earshot, you both broke into a fit of laughter, “Oh my God! He was totally copying you, that’s adorable!”
Taehyun gushed, “They both were so flustered! Too cute.”
You both spent the next go-around giggling, conversing about nothing, and sharing sweet, longing gazes. The carnival beneath you slowly began shutting down, each area turning their lighting off one by one. You kept your hand laced with his and while you glanced down the dying fair, he lovingly gazed at you.
“I guess that’s our cue to leave.” You gestured below. He trained his gaze to the lack of vivid lighting around the carnival and sighed, “Yeah, I guess so.”
He squeezed your hand tighter. You didn’t want to part from him so soon and he shared your exact sentiment.
· ──────────────────── ·
As Taehyun pulled into your driveway, you instantly spotted Kai’s silhouette lurking in your bedroom window.
“Jesus Christ,” you grumbled.
Kai had spent his night waiting for you to come home, eager to hear your nightmarish tale. He planned to head to his house and simply wait for your inevitable call, but when he left to grab takeout, he found himself straying back to your house. Your mother must’ve let him in, granted he was also gifted a key and he used it regularly. Your mind suddenly short-circuited by the feeling of Taehyun’s hand atop your own. If you noticed his tremble and clamminess, you didn’t mention it.
He cleared his throat, “Let me walk you to your door.”
You sheepishly nodded, anxious to speak. If yesterday, someone had told you you would be this shy at the end of the night, you would’ve laughed in their face. He rushed to open your door and you let him, much to his surprise, without any snarky remark. The short distance to your front door didn’t stop him from holding your hand, leaving you a giggly, flustered mess.
You could practically feel Kai’s smirk.
Taehyun stood awkwardly, frequently shifting his weight, while you nervously picked at your fingernail, both waiting for the other to break the silence. He took the first leap of faith, “I had a great time tonight, I hope you did too.”
You were too focused on his calloused thumb tracing soothing circles along the back of your hand, making you lose your train of thought, “Yeah! Yes! So fun!”
You winced at your overly enthusiastic response. The luminous light, hanging haphazardly above you did little to hide your anxiousness. He chuckled softly, glad he wasn’t the only nervous one, “That’s good to hear.”
“I’m sorry you nearly threw up.” You both cringed at the recent memory. He squeezed your hand reassuringly, “Don’t worry. Weirdly, that’s not the worst thing to happen to me on a date.”
You tilted your head curiously, you wished to hear his story. Frankly, you found yourself wishing to hear everything about him, but before anything, you needed to get some stuff off your own chest. “I’m also sorry about other stuff. I have more to apologize than you, even before the incident, I was always so abrasive and mean, and I want to apologize for that. And, I, uh, also kind of broke into your house… so obviously I’m sorry about that too. Not to mention, I thin—”
He placed his hand on your cheek and caressed softly, making you quiet. “It’s water under the bridge.”
You shyly smiled, looking away from his adoring gaze. He tried mustering up a cheesy line but he found himself losing focus, his eyes constantly straying to your lips; he couldn’t help it, he really wanted to kiss you. He sucked in a deep breath, gathering the courage to just do it, even though he knew you’d likely reject his advance. After all, it was just the first date and you only forgave him three hours ago.
Not to mention, Kai stole your phone to get Taehyun’s number just to inform him of your strict no-kiss policy.
He hesitantly brushed your hair behind your ear before leaning in slowly, his plush, attractive lips easily tempting you. Unfortunately for him, you kept to your rule. You splayed your hand across his chest before pushing him back gently, “Nice try, Romeo.”
He wasn’t surprised, it was a long shot anyways. He’d just regret it if he didn’t try. He nodded understandingly before leaning in once more, this time to place a gentle kiss to your forehead. You couldn’t hide the obvious blush that dusted your cheeks, making him grin. Maybe you weren’t as tough as you liked to seem.
He felt hopeful.
“So for our next date, I was thinking mini golf,” he said enthusiastically. His eyes sparkled with excitement; he seemed thrilled, you couldn’t help but giggle, “Easy there tiger, I don’t recall ever saying anything about a second date.”
He leaned in to plant a kiss on your cheek, pulling away only slightly to whisper, “I think I’ll be getting another date.”
He was right. He was definitely getting another date… and maybe, just maybe, you’d break your no-kiss rule.

(I love him sm, ugh. He’s so cute in glasses🥺)
The brisk winds of New York City blew harshly against his cheeks as he walked towards the book store. The faster he walked the closer he saw the book shaped sign and baby blue store front that he had been visiting for the past few weeks. When he approached the door, he took his hand out from his warm pocket and pulled it open. He felt a wave of hot air embrace him as he entered the store. The sudden change in temperature caused his glasses to fog up, obscuring his vision. He didn’t actually need the glasses, but it helped him get around the city without being noticed every few minutes.
He wiped his glasses with his sleeves and slid them back to rest on the bridge of his nose. He took in the warmth of the cozy book store, sniffling as his body adjusted to the heat. He had stumbled upon the unique store when he first came to New York. It had been snowing when he first arrived and he was looking for a place to get some nice hot coffee. There wasn’t a single Starbucks near his hotel and the closest thing to coffee was a small cafe just a few blocks away from him. He ended up visiting the cafe, later discovering that it had a library hidden in the back. After days of hanging out at the cafe and reading some books, he had become familiar with the staff there. Especially you. Although he’s never spoken a word to you. Instead he’s only seen you from afar, exchanging glances and shy smiles at each other.
He approached the counter and was greeted by Marco, the barista of the cafe/library.
“Hey man, you gettin’ your usual?” Marco asked as he reached for one of the festive cups near the register. Tom pursed his lips as he looked at the menu.
“D’ya know what, I think I’ll have a hot chocolate today.” Tom smiled as he took his wallet out. Marco nodded and scribbled the order onto the cup.
“Anything else?” Tom shook his head and handed Marco a $10 bill. He shoved his wallet back into his pocket, scanning the store for a place to sit.
“Keep the change, mate.” Tom told Marco waving a hand at him.
“I’ll bring your drink to you.” Tom nodded thankfully and found a table towards the back. The smell of books brought him peace and comfort as the low hum of music surrounded the store. He took a seat debating on whether or not he should go through the library or read his script. He decided to read the script, remembering that he should go over his lines for the scenes they were going to shoot tomorrow.
Pulling the script out his backpack, a smell of vanilla and a hint of fruit breezed past him. He looked up to see that you had walked past him. A small smile made its way onto his lips as he watched you interact with some of the customers. Your bright eyes were accompanied with a kind smile as you conversed with an older lady. You were dressed in a knitted sweater, some jeans, and brown boots that went up to your knees. You settled into the seat across from the old lady which was a few feet away from him. You were wearing something so simple, but he thought you looked absolutely stunning. Tom found himself being more focused on you than his script.
Suddenly a steaming cup was placed down on the table, startling him. He looked up to see Marco smirking at him as he followed his line of sight. Tom quietly thanked him as his hands gripped onto the warm cup.
“Ya know, she’s single.” Marco whispered before walking away from Tom’s table. Tom blushed furiously as Marco turned back to him with a shit eating grin. He’s been caught staring at you. Tom rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment as he forced his focus onto his script. He barely looked up, only looking at his script and cup.
An hour had passed and he was halfway through his lines. His cup was almost empty, only a few sips of hot chocolate left. Tom sighed, taking his glasses off and rubbing his tired eyes. He put the glasses back on and looked around. Outside, the sun had started to go down and there were different people in the store. He suddenly heard a laugh, a sweet sound, like a melody. His eyes followed the sound, only to see you laughing with one of your coworkers. The two of you were organizing books at the back. Your eyes averted from your friend, connecting with Tom’s brown eyes. A strand of hair fell from your face and Tom couldn’t help but feel tempted to tuck it back behind your ear. You shyly smiled at him with a small nod towards his direction. Tom felt the butterflies erupt in his stomach, making him feel breathless. He smiled back at you, his fingers fiddling with the highlighter in his hands. You were the first to turn away, returning to your task at hand.
At that moment, Tom felt pity for himself. You were just a few feet away from him looking as beautiful as ever. But there he was glued to his seat, only admiring you from afar. He was too scared to approach you, you just seemed too good to be true. His leg bounced nervously as he continued to sneak glances at you. His script was long forgotten, the hot chocolate now cold. He wanted to approach you but he was too nervous to go up to you. Suddenly an idea popped into his head.
Tom looked around, trying to discreetly wave down Marco. The man was busy wiping down the counters until he saw Tom flailing his hand at him. He threw the rag into the sink and approached the British man.
“What’s up? Refill? Or have you finally mustered the balls to ask (y/n) out?” Marco questioned him nonchalantly. Tom’s head snapped at the barista.
“H-how? Wait, her name’s (y/n)?” Tom’s voice trailed off as he paired the name with your face. (Y/n). The named rolled off his tongue so naturally.
“Yeah. How can I help you?”
Tom leaned in closer to Marco keeping his tone low, “Has she been reading any books lately? Like anything in the library?”
Marco took a minute to think to himself, “Ummm, she mentioned something about rereading The Great Gatsby.”
“Great, uhm. Where can I find that?” Tom asked eagerly.
Marco waved him off and patted his shoulder, “I’ll get it for you.”
Marco returned a few minutes later with the book. The book was aged but still in good condition.
Curiously, Marco asked, “What are you gonna do?”
Pulling out post it notes from his bag and a pen, he opened the book to the first page.
“I’m going to leave a note for her.” He muttered, “For (y/n), I mean.” He quickly elaborated to Marco.
He stuck the post it note to the page and thought of something to write.
“Alright, I’ll leave you to it. If you want, I could give it to her. Just hand it to me when you leave.” Marco offered beginning to walk back to the counter.
“That would be great, thanks man.” Tom sent him a grateful smile and looked down at the book. He racked his brain for something nice to say that would set a good impression on you, but instead he went with the first thing he thought when he would see you.
“I think you look very beautiful today :) — Tom xx” were the words he scribbled onto the post it note. He closed the book, looking down at it nervously. Would you think the note was creepy? Would you cringe? Maybe you would appreciate it? Would you find it cute? Many questions formed in his head making him second guess his decision of leaving the note for you. But then he finally mustered the courage to just give it to you and hope for the best.
Packing his things, he slung his backpack over his shoulder and threw his cup away. He quickly looked around and saw you standing on a ladder. You were still sorting books, but now your hair was pulled up into a ponytail. With one more glance at you he took the book and approached Marco.
Marco looked at him expectantly. Tom double checked to see if the note was still in the book.
“You good?”
“Yup, I think I am.” Tom sighed finally giving the book to Marco.
“I’ll give it to her as soon as she’s done over there.” Marco motioned to you placing the book in his large apron pocket.
“Thanks, Marco. I appreciate it.” Tom smiled at him. Marco shrugged as if it were no big deal.
“No problem man, you have a good night.” Marco waved at Tom as his hands pushed on the door. Tom was about to leave but heard Marco call out to him again.
“I better be seeing you tomorrow. She’ll read the note by then.” Marco pointed at him.
“I’ll be here.” Tom confirmed before leaving the store with one more wave at Marco.
As he walked through the blanket of snow a smile was on his face the entire time. When he got back to his hotel, he laid in bed wondering if you have read the note already. He found himself anticipating the upcoming day. He couldn’t wait to visit the cafe after set or during his lunch. Maybe by tomorrow he’ll stop admiring you from afar and finally talk to you, who knows?

The Black Bulls and their bullshit in the modern time: jobs I guess – Part. 1
Here is what my brain came up with when I imagined the life of the Black Bulls or something in the present time. I did this instead of focusing during online classes, and 2 more parts are coming soon to cover all the members I guess. I didn't intend for them to turn out like headcannons but that happened :D
Yami Sukehiro
lifeguard
he probably signed up because he thought he was gonna get good money from just sitting on his lifeguard chair and sipping Tequila
his supervisor doesn't like that he's always drinking during work, but he's too scared to approach Yami about it
girls ogle at his body 24/7 but he's too dense to notice any of it
fell off his chair twice on his first day
gets approached by clueless kids who are lost and can't find their parents
helps the children find their parents, but they scurry away in fear that Yami would do something to them or their kids
soon he becomes a playground for children
5 of them simultaneously pull his hair and climb his body
at first he didn't mind, but now he's extremely careful
because one, he got kicked where the sun don't shine accidentally an energetic 6-year-old
and two, because he accidentally kicked a toddler into the pool while his vision was covered by a bunch of 4-year-olds
he couldn't care less about what people think, but he likes the praise and approval he gets from saving a few toddlers from drowning in deep water
Nacht Faust
opened a coffee shop at the corner of the street
is seldom there because he would rather do other things than spend his whole day watching some of them mess up their job
other than the coffee shop, no one knows what Nacht's job is
Finral and Gauche came up with the theory that Nacht works as a stripper
always pays the workers on time, because he thinks it's what they deserve from keeping the café alive
decorated the whole shop by himself
at first it looked like an emo kid's room
Finral hated it so much he worked his ass off to convince Nacht that it does NOT look good
now it looks better, like an aesthetic bar with lots of plants
continuously emphasises to the Bulls to keep the place clean
walks in one day to find coffee and cake all over the floor
gave them ^_^ this look and the place was clean in 10 minutes
once he slipped and fell face first when the floor was still wet from Grey mopping the floor
that moment birthed the loudest evil laugh that anyone has ever heard from Gauche
got up casually and walked away like nothing happened
recovery +100
after that, he never visits the shop in day time in case of embarrassment
honestly, he likes the coffee that Finral brews, but he'll never tell a single soul
Finral Roulacase
works at the coffee shop pt. 1
became the supervisor of the coffee shop by process of elimination
he does the job well even though he hates the responsibility part
no one really listens to him though
scratch that, no one EVER listens to him
the only person in the whole store who makes decent coffee
spent 2 months learning how to make a leaf with latte art
and now he's trying to master making a Pororo because once a child burst into tears when he didn't know how to.
whenever he sees a lady entering the store, he can't help but flirt with them
but he gets roasted by Gauche, who gets him back to work by rubbing Finral's fat crush on Finesse who works at an antique shop a few blocks away into his face
whenever Luck stops by, Finral gives him lessons on how to make a cappuccino
it never works out, and it ends with a huge mess that both of them help Grey clean because they feel bad
Grey
works at the coffee shop pt. 2
most of her work consists of cleaning the shop up, like wiping down the tables or sweeping the floors
also occasionally helps Finral make coffee and plates the dessert that Charmy sends to the café
absolutely REFUSES to serve customers
broke a whole table once because she was shy
no one knows how she did it
Finral once encouraged her to serve a cup of coffee and a plate of red velvet cake
everything went out the window, including the window itself
when the shop is empty, she lays herself on one of the tables near the window like seaweed to absorb sunlight
also she's the person who waters all the plants in the café
because no one else cares enough to do it
Nacht is secretly thankful for her for keeping his potted plants alive
she hopes that one day she can work at the counter and interact with the customers instead of shying away behind Gauche
Gauche Adlai
works at the coffee shop pt. 3
takes the orders of the customers at the counter and occasionally serves their food
tells off rude customers and will not hesitate to kick them out
he once beat the shit out of a customer outside for touching Grey inappropriately and no one dared to stop him
that day, Finral praised him, and let him clock out earlier to see Marie
has a framed picture of Marie left at the counter
when people ask who she is, he tells them that she owns the place
did not want this job, he was dragged into it
sucked at taking people's orders at first because he was insulting people left to right
Nacht wrote down sentences on a piece of paper for Gauche to memorise
it took him 2 weeks to get the hang of it
stares at his polaroid photo of Marie when there is no queue
when Sister Theresa visits with Marie, he becomes the most diligent worker in the shop
even Finral is surprised
good at working with numbers, mastered the cashier machine immediately
sometimes adds a few extra dollars into a rude customer's bill out of spite
passive aggressively forces customers to leave a good tip
once stole a potted plant from the shop to gift to Marie
Parts - 1 | 2 | 3

We already talked about this in dms but like👀 Keigo and a female reader that he thinks is just all cute and shit. But nah she’s actually one of the best dancers in japan and specializes in badass and sexy dances
I went down such a rabbit hole picking out the choreo for this for zero reason 💀💀💀 but man am I here for it. For those curious what I pictured writing this it’s this dance at time code 7:27 choreography is by Jojo Gomez
It’s an 18+ one y’all, minors dni. Warnings for dom/sub dynamics, mention of reader having a vagina, fingering, hand jobs, light edging, light nipple play, unprotected sex, semi-public sex, minor praise kink
“So when are you finally gonna seal the deal with (y/n)?” Mirko asks Hawks one day as they walk their usual patrol route. It’s a quiet day and quiet days always made Mirko more likely to pry. “Seal the deal?” Hawks asks. “Y’know... Do the devil’s tango? Make the beast of two backs? Teach her the birds and the bees?” Mirko teases, wiggling her eyebrows and crowding into his personal space. Hawks rolls his eyes hard and shoves her out of his space, not that it deters her. “It’s not like that,” he tells his nosy friend but she just scoffs in response. “Don’t play like you don’t want to get all up on her, Hawks. You go to that cafe she works at every night after your shift and I’m pretty sure you don’t even like coffee,” Mirko points out. “I like coffee,” Hawks retorts mulishly. “No you don’t.” “Drop it Mirko.” “Oh c’mon! It’ll be easier if you just admit it.” “Fine! She’s adorable, you happy?” Hawks finally huffs, red tinting his cheeks. There’s a beat of silence before Mirko responds but it’s not quite the response Hawks is expecting. “Wait you think (y/n)... is adorable?” Mirko asks. “What do you mean? She is!” Hawks replies defensively. “Relax tough guy, adorable just isn’t the word I’d use to describe her,” Mirko shrugs. “How else would you describe her? She always seems kinda sleepy on her shift and she wears those big oversized sweatshirts,” Hawks elaborates but Mirko continues to look confused by his assessment of you. “Have you never seen her dance before?” Mirko finally asks. “She dances?” Hawks responds.
In Hawks’ personal opinion, Mirko’s reaction is over dramatic. She had stopped in her tracks and stared at him as if he’d sprouted a third head or announced an early retirement. “What?” he asks, even more defensive than before. Mirko heaves a sigh as if Hawks’ ignorance is her greatest source of disappointment. “I forget sometimes you live under a rock, Jesus Christ. We really do need to talk about you getting out more for things other than work and creeping on the sexy dancer barista you have a crush on. Why do you think she’s so tired every shift?” Mirko asks in disbelief. “She’s a student isn’t she? I assumed school stuff!” “You really are hopeless.” “Hey!” “She has rehearsal before her shift dummy, she’s tired from practicing.” “How do you know so much about it huh?” “Well for starters her group has literally won competitions so jot that down. And two we follow each other on Twitter.” “Why do I even ask you things?” Hawks laments. “Shut up, I have an idea,” Mirko suddenly grins. “Oh god, what the fuck are you planning now?” Hawks groans. “I think we should pay (y/n) a little visit during rehearsal, don’t you?”
Hawks follows Mirko through the halls of the university rec center with a growing sense of dread. She looks mischievous and that’s usually a sign that Hawks is going to regret whatever he just signed up for. After they round a final corner, Hawks can clearly hear music coming out of a room down the hall labeled rehearsal room B. Hawks and Mirko push through the door right as the song stops and immediately Hawks realizes that this was a mistake. Gone is your oversized hoodie, instead you’re in just a pair of sweats and a sports bra, covered in sweat and chest still heaving from whatever dance you and the two other girls with you had just done. Hawks should’ve just ignored Mirko and waited to look up one of your dances on YouTube in the privacy of his own apartment. “Hey (y/n)!” Mirko calls out cheerily even as Hawks mentally curses her out for dragging him here. Your gaze snaps over to the two of them and immediately you break out into a wide grin, the same one Hawks had been fawning over as cute and precious for the past several weeks. “What are you two doing here?” you ask as your friends grab water. “We were in the neighborhood and I remember you mentioning you rehearse around this time so I figured why not swing by?” Mirko replies and god does Hawks hate her right now. “You guys have perfect timing actually, we’re working on something to the song ‘Ride’ by Ciara and it would be really great to get an outside opinion on it. Would you guys mind sticking around to check it out? I promise it’ll be quick the other girls have something right after this,” you ask the two pros, giving your best puppy dog eyes. Hawks wants to politely decline, he’s having enough trouble keeping himself in check as it is thank you very much, but before he can Mirko is already agreeing and he doesn’t have the heart to shut things down when you look so excited. “Ah amazing!! Ok! Just sit at the front of the room and be our audience!” you beam and Hawks is helpless but to comply.
Hawks’ eyes trace over every inch of your body as you start the music and then get into the starting formation of the dance. Hawks can tell the moment you’ve focused in on performing your choreography because your whole demeanor and energy shifts. It’s commanding and confident and very, very sexy. He’s starting to understand Mirko’s reaction to his earlier description of you because the woman he sees before him now? Well adorable doesn’t quite fit the bill anymore. He’s already half hard in his work pants, much to his chagrin. What would the tabloids say if they knew he was getting this aroused in public? It’s not exactly befitting of the number two hero considering he’s supposed to be a role model for future generations. But could anyone blame him? The way you move your body and swing your hips is mesmerizing. At one point you slowly roll your body down to grind your hips to the floor and it’s impossible for Hawks not to imagine you using that same precise control to grind down onto his dick. He tries to focus on the music instead in hopes it will help him calm down but it only takes a second for him to realize the song is painting the very same image he’s trying desperately to clear from his head. He’s almost positive Mirko is smirking beside him but he can’t focus on her, you’ve captured the entirety of his attention.
Then the chorus hits and Hawks is really in trouble. You’re singing along. You’re singing “they love the way I ride it” and making direct fucking eye contact with him while you swing your hips in a slow, sensual grind and how can he not react to that? His wings flare and puff out instinctively, his cheeks going red, and his dick is now fully erect and leaking precum into his boxers. It would be mortifying if he weren’t too focused on your every move to truly remember his surroundings. Eventually the song ends and even though Mirko stands to go compliment you and your friends on a job well done, Hawks stays rooted in place. He doesn’t dare move as his painfully hard cock twitches in his pants. Sweat drips down your neck and god he wants to lick it off you so goddamn bad he barely even notices you saying bye to Mirko and your friends until the door is shutting behind them.
Hawks hasn’t even fully registered that the two of you are now alone in the room before he’s coming up behind you and wrapping an arm around your bare torso. You open your mouth to ask what’s up with him when you suddenly feel his erection against your backside. “Tell me you don’t want this or I won’t be able to stop,” he all but growls against the shell of your ear. “What if I do want it though?” you ask breathlessly as you shamelessly grind your ass back against his throbbing dick. The moan that crawls its way out of his throat in response is guttural, he genuinely can’t think of a time he’s ever been more turned on in his life as he wastes no time spinning you around to face him and pressing you up against the wall. “You knew what you were doing didn’t you?” he asks before dropping his nose down to run along your jaw. You shudder as he licks a long stripe up your neck, delighting in the salty taste of your sweat. “Maybe?” you hedge at first but then he bites the column of your throat hard enough you’re sure it’ll leave a mark and you can’t help but whimper. He draws back to look you in the eye, his pupils blown so wide they’ve almost completely consumed his golden irises. “Don’t lie to me little dove,” he warns. “I may have gone a little harder than usual because you were watching me,” you admit and it’s apparently the right answer as Hawks all but chirps his satisfaction before leaning down to press a bruising kiss to your lips that has you melting. One of his hands slides up to grasp and squeeze one of your breasts but even that is not enough for him and in the next moment one of his feathers glides in to swiftly cut your sports bra off entirely. You’re about to protest but the words die in your throat as Hawks starts pinching and twisting one of your nipples. “Does that feel good little dove?” he asks and all you can do is let your head fall back against the wall and nod your approval.
Hawks takes advantage of your head’s position to resume leaving marks on your exposed neck as his free hand snakes its way into your sweatpants and panties. As his fingers finally reach your dripping sex you feel him moan against the sensitive skin of your throat. “You’re so wet for me already,” he notes as he slowly slides a finger inside of you. “Want you, need you,” is all you can keen as he drags his one finger torturously slowly inside of you. “Want me that bad love?” Hawks teases and your answering nod is almost frantic as he inserts another finger and takes careful note of the way you squirm. “Use your words,” he commands. “I want you so bad Hawks please,” you beg but even as he uses his thumb to lightly brush against your sensitive clit he still doesn’t budge. “I don’t know, you were so naughty teasing me so much in front of Mirko and your friends. Do you understand how turned on I was?” he asks but you can only whimper in response. You jerk your hips forward in desperate search of more friction or movement or something but all that accomplishes is Hawks using the hand not currently buried inside you to hold your hips still. “I want you to feel how turned on your little show made me little dove. Can you do that?” he asks. “Y-yes,” you moan before obediently reaching one hand out to feel his hardened length through his pants. God he’s so big, and it only emphasizes to you how much you want him inside you. “Not gonna get much done from there, little dove, don’t be shy. I want you to feel me, feel the cock you’re so fucking desperate for,” he growls, slowly dragging his fingers in and out of you to emphasize his point. It’s so good but it’s not nearly enough so you fumble with the belt and button of his pants until finally, finally you can slip your hand past the waistband and into his boxers to grasp firm hold of his weeping cock.
It doesn’t take long for the two of you to find a devastating rhythm, your hands moving in sync to drive both of you towards your respective climaxes. Your moans echo around the small practice room and it’s music to Hawks’ ears. You’re close, so close, right on the precipice of orgasm when suddenly Hawks is leaning in to whisper into your ear a simple command: “Stop.” His hand stops moving and then he slowly extracts his fingers from inside you. You whine at the loss, pussy desperately clenching around nothing but you obediently stop your hand's movement. "Don't look so disappointed, I thought you wanted my dick," Hawks teases. "I do, fuck, I do," you groan. "Be specific. What do you want?" "I want your dick inside me, please Hawks I'm begging, I want it so bad," you whine. What a pretty sight you make squirming and whining for him. Hawks thinks he could watch you like this forever but even he is starting to get impatient so he decides to finally give you what you want. He shoves his own pants and boxers down low enough for his dick to spring out of its confines, the head flushed red and glistening with precum. Meanwhile his feathers push down your own sweatpants and panties as you watch him with half-lidded eyes, eager to finally feel his hardened length inside you. He has you wrap your arms around his shoulders and places his hands on your waist. "Hop up pretty girl," he commands and you eagerly obey, allowing him to lift you and then wrapping your legs around his waist to further support you weight. "Ready?" he asks. "God, yes Hawks please," you groan as he lines himself up with your waiting entrance. Hawks complies with an almost feral grin, wasting no time in shoving himself fully inside you. You groan as his thick length stretches you open but the slight burn feels so good as he fills you up. "You're doing so good for me, baby. So good," he praises and you practically purr your satisfaction. "P-please. Move," you moan and Hawks doesn't need to be told twice as he begins fucking into you in earnest. All words are lost between the two of you, the only language you need being the moans, groans, whimpers, and whines the two of you pull out of each other. As he drills into you harder and harder you rapidly feel yourself once again approaching climax. "Hawks I'm gonna-" you start but he cuts you off. "Me too baby, hold out a little longer and we'll cum together ok?" he ask. "Ok," you whimper, trying so hard to be good for him. Just a few long deep strokes later he finally gives you permission to cum and almost immediately you cry out his name, clenching and squeezing around him as he tumbles into his own climax. His groan is long and low as he spills his seed inside you and you relish each and every moment of it.
As the two of you finally come down from your highs Hawks carefully sets you back down on the ground. "Shit," he swears. "You can say that again," you laugh breathlessly. "Maybe I should invite you to more rehearsals from now on," you joke. "I'd much rather you give me a private show at my place," he replies easily. "I think I can make that work." "Good." "When would you like your first performance?" "How about now? You were just bragging about how much 'they' like it when you ride it. Time to put your money where your mouth is." "I'd like nothing more."

We're Worlds Apart (3)
Draco Malfoy x American No-Maj!reader
series m.list | general m.list | previous chp
warnings: cursing, angst(?), Draco being a meanie :(
summary: Draco Malfoy is a pureblood wizard. Magic runs through his veins and has been since his birth. You're a Wiccan No-Maj; a non-magical being with ordinary blood through your veins, but practices what you call magick. And this very practice upsets your neighbor.
a/n: not my best lmao kinda gets cheesy. anyways, Y/M/N = your mother’s name and Y/B/N = your brother’s name
Tumblr media
(gif cred)
“Do I really have to get one?” Draco whined in the middle of the phone store, getting his very first cellular device.
“Yeah, man. It's 2008 and you still write letters. Plus, your bird took a shit on my car,” Blaine said matter-of-factly. He found it funny that Draco still used an owl post for communication; the only other person Blaine knew that still uses an owl is his 97 year old grandmother. And even she has a landline in her house. “It's just easier and quicker to use. Why wait a whole day for a letter when you can just text me and I’ll respond in two seconds?”
“I’ve never even used a wall phone, how do you expect me to use a bloody cell-phone, Blaine?” Draco was fidgeting in his seat as he waited for the store employee to finish, what was it called, a credit score? Muggles sure are weird.
She came back shortly with a small, black box that had a weird word on it. What the bloody hell is an iPhone? She explained how it turned on, all the applications it carried, and details about billing and more. Draco was still confused about the whole thing but Blaine said that he would help him understand it better.
“Well look at you, Dray. A modern wizard in America,” Blaine jokes. Draco played with the new device, working out all the kinks of it. He sent his very first text message to Blaine at that moment. Took him precisely 5 minutes to type out a very bland, simple ‘Hello. -Draco L. Malfoy’
It made Blaine laugh so hard that he held his stomach. “My god, we’re gonna have to work on your texting skills, man. First things first, you don't have to sign your name at the end of a text. I know it's you.” Blaine explained to Draco all the fundamentals of texting as they walked through the halls of Santa Marie.
Throughout the day, Draco shared his new number with his department. The more he shared his number, the faster he became at typing.
At the end of his shift, he went to a nearby restaurant where he usually picked up dinner —not one to know his way around the kitchen — and headed home.
It's been a good week for him; his mother had sent him a letter everyday, he finished setting up the guest room for Theo and Blaise, he has this new phone, and best of all, Y/N had not crossed his mind once.
Now he still hasn't accepted what she does in her free time, but also he realized that she’s not exactly harming him nor did she know what he was. He's usually busy with all the work he does, anyway. It was quite a sudden change of heart. But mostly, it was his mother that was able to talk to him and change his views.
My dearest son, had it been during the time before the war, I would have agreed with you. But you have to understand that things are different now. You're different now. Now I am not forcing you, but maybe you should just talk with her just once. If not, just ignore her. After all, she only lives next door.
When he read the letter, he could practically hear all of his friends telling him ‘She's right, you know.’ And deep down, he knew it too. So he went with her advice: ignore Y/N.
You’ve had a terrible week; your assistant manager forgot to count the inventory which meant she also forgot to make an order for inventory. A group of teens stole a bunch of little vials of oils you had put on display. And to top it all off, a man stood in front of your shop with signs that had biblical verses written on them, blocking the entrance way and essentially driving away any potential customers. You called security but they never came.
You were used to this happening, it's happened all your life. But that didn't mean that it didn't hurt. I'm not harming anyone, so why does this happen to me? Next week, your mother was flying in from Maine to look around the house to make sure nothing would ‘freak Stephanie out.’
Driving back home, you were just waiting to mix some bath salts in your tub, play music, and relax for the next couple of days. By sheer coincidence, as you pulled in you noticed your neighbor that you now knew as Draco pull into his driveway.
This week can't exactly get worse you thought as your legs carried you to his front door. With gentle knocks on the door, you waited patiently. Being rejected once more didn't bother you, but you at least wanted to hear him speak to you and try your chance to become better acquainted.
Draco opened his door, his tie was undone and he looked confusingly at you. “Can I help you?”
Panic overcame your senses and without thinking, you blurted out, “Do you hate me?” You noticed his shocked face as it was probably not something he expected to hear.
“Excuse me, what exactly are you talking about?” he asked in his entrancing British accent. It was too late to take it back, so you just kept going with it. “I’m sorry, but you moved in here four months ago and you seem to have made friends with everyone around here but for some reason, you won’t even say ‘hi’ to me. Did I offend you or something?” You sounded exhausted and sad. Not only at the week you just had, but how Draco wasn’t being so neighborly with you as he was with everyone else on the street. It bothered you so much to no end. And the most frustrating thing was that you didn’t understand why.
“Uh, I apologize that we haven’t been on speaking terms but I don’t think I have to talk to you now, do I?” Draco scoffed. Why is he being such a jerk? “I’m not saying that you have to talk to me, but it’d be nice if you could at least wave or something. But instead, you look at me funny and ignore me. It’s kinda rude.”
“Merlin, you muggles are so temperamental.” Draco said under his breath. The word sounded funny to you.
“Muggles? Did you just call me a muggle?” The look on Draco’s face didn’t go unnoticed. He stared at you for a few moments, not saying anything. What does that mean? “Is that what you call Americans in the UK? Doesn’t really sound nice.”
Draco started laughing mockingly at you, his grip on his door tightening and knuckles turning white, “Look, I don’t understand what it is exactly you want from me but I will say this; the fact that you are so offended that I won’t acknowledge you is honestly quite fucking childish and if you couldn’t get the hint then I’ll say it plainly for you now. I don’t. Wish. To. Be. Friends. With. You. Got it?” and with that, he slammed the door in your face.
Groaning out, you yelled at him through his door, “Fuck you then! I don’t wanna be friends with some rude prick!” You ran to your door and slammed it pretty hard. The sudden noise frightened your cat and made her run from her tower into your room. What the fuck is his deal?
You walked to your room, pissed off and tired. Looking up, you saw Draco in his room. You stared each other down before you walked up to your window to close your blinds, flipping him off before it fully closed. Afterwards, you took a regular shower and went to bed. Anger built up inside you, and for probably the first time, you hated another human being. And you had to live next to him for god knows how long.
-
“I mean, did you really have to say that to her?” Ian and Ashley had just listened to Draco explain what had happened the night before. Ian just sat in the chair eating his lunch as Ashley responded to him. “I know things might be different in England, but you should’ve given her a chance. She could be nice. I have a couple No-Maj friends on my block.”
“I’m on Ash with this. Is it really all because she’s Wiccan? Be honest, Dray,” Ian chipped in. At that point, Draco didn’t really know what to say. He thought he could look past it, but he couldn’t. “Maybe, yeah. I come from two families that had very strict traditions and views of muggles. I thought I dropped those views but seeing first hand what they do and-”
“And it makes you feel like a freak? Because you’re a real wizard that can do magic and they sit in some weirdly drawn circle and ‘do’ magic?” Ashley finished Draco’s sentence, making quotation marks with her hands. “I get it, I really do. I was offended too when I had to read about No-Maj’s doing this during school. And then to see movies where witches are viewed as ugly, green-skinned hags with warts on her face and wear rags for clothes. Kinda brings you down as a kid. But I got over it. You should, too.” Ashley held Draco’s hand for a bit before she grabbed her coffee mug and left for her appointments.
Ian sat quietly, watching as Draco was sinking in everything he was advised. “Look man, it’s not really my business to be telling you what you should or shouldn’t like, and who you should or shouldn’t like. And you know what, you’re not exactly in the wrong to get mad about what happened. After all, she just kinda picked a fight with you out of nowhere.” Draco had a face that looked as if he was saying ‘Right? I’m not crazy here’
“But,” of course there’s a ‘but’, “from what I hear around the street, Y/N’s really nice. Super weird for sure, but an overall nice person. I think you should think about it.” Ian nodded at Draco before joining Ashley out of the breakroom. Draco sat there, thinking about what his friends said and also thought back to his mother’s letters. I’m such a child. And I’m the one that called her childish. If he was honest, you were but it didn’t make him better.
He knew what he was going to do after work. It pained him to have to apologize to someone. Apologizing wasn’t something he was exactly used to doing. He’s only done it once to Harry and his friends nearly three years after the Battle. He didn’t even really know what to say to you. But he’ll figure it out. Right?
-
You stood shocked at your doorstep, hands holding onto the sweater as you looked before you. “Mom, you’re here early.”
“I had been given an extra week off of work so I thought I’d just come and see my oldest baby before your brother and Stephanie comes. Also gives me a head start to plan our dinner and get this house situated,” your mother walked past you with her two large luggage cases and dropped them on your living room floor. She looked around the house and eyed all the decorations and pictures on the walls.
To her, everything was nearly normal. You had family pictures posted and some pictures of you and your friends from college. In the living room, you had a tapestry hung up behind your couch that used to belong to your grandmother. “Y/N please, will you take down that blanket? Why don’t you put up a picture of some flowers, or maybe something abstract?”
“Because I don’t want a picture of flowers and that’s not a blanket. It was Grandma’s. I want it hung up there. Ma, you gotta understand that it’s my house now.” Your arms were crossed due to the cold. You had the day off and tried to spend it well as you did your cleansing spell in the morning, but it seems that it wasn’t very effective seeing as your mother came in and immediately started nitpicking everything.
“It was cute in your room when you were a kid. But you’re 26 now. How would your boyfriend feel if he walked in here and thought ‘oh, didn’t know I was dating a 16 year old.’” Her constant criticism was nearly pushing you to the edge. “Ma, I don’t really want to argue with you tonight so I’m just going to bed-” a doorbell rang throughout the house and you were thanking whoever was listening for giving you a reason to walk away from your mother.
As soon as you opened the door, you were met with another face that you weren’t exactly excited to see. “Can I help you?” you repeated Draco’s words from last night back at him in a spiteful tone.
Through gritted teeth, he looked at you and said, “I just wanted to tell you that I’m sorry for being an arse yesterday. I hope we can look past it and become well-acquainted neighbors.”
“Huh, you’re sorry? You don’t really sound it.”
“I know, I’m not really used to doing this,” Draco quipped. “But nonetheless, I would still like to apologize.”
“Yeah, whatever, I’m sorry too.” You were about to close the door until your mother came up and pushed the door completely open, “Honey, who’s at the door- oh! Hello, I’m Y/M/N. And you are?” She looked at Draco with the nicest smile that you had ever seen on her.
“Hello, My name’s Draco. Nice to meet you,” he awkwardly shook your mother’s hand. He didn’t smile, but he also didn’t have the usual scowl on his face when he would look at you. Guess he does have manners. “Y/N, is this a friend of yours?” your mother insinuated with a less than discreet wink. Without missing a beat, you replied, “No. Ma, this is my new neighbor. I just met him. But it’s late, so nice meeting you Draco. See you around.” And you closed the door.
“That was rude, Y/N. You should have invited him in. He’s very cute,” your mother grabbed her bags and headed into the guest room. From a distance, you could hear your mother speak to herself, saying ‘At least this room looks normal’. “It’s kinda late. Besides, we have all the time in the world to talk.”
You walked to your small closet and grabbed the special bath salts for stress relief and walked to your bathroom. Starting to strip, your mother barged in. “Ma! Privacy, please!”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Y/N. I gave birth to you. Anyways, how long has it been since he moved in? Do you think he knows about your witchy stuff?” She asked as she stood by the door, checking her reflection as you continued to undress for your bath. “I don’t really hold a sign around my neck that says I’m a Wiccan, Mother,” you said with closed eyes. Your mother said, “I hope not. Night, baby,” and closed the door.
This is going to be a long three weeks.
-
The morning came and you woke up before your alarm and did your daily routine. The only difference was that your mother was going through your pantry looking for ingredients to make breakfast. “Morning, honey. Do you want some pancakes? I’ll make your favorites! It’s still blueberry, right?”
“No, that was Y/B/N. Mine are chocolate chip and peanut butter.” You said flatly as you grabbed your watering can. “Oh that’s right. But I already bought the blueberries.”
“That’s fine, they still taste good.” Your mother was satisfied with your response and started right away. You walked out to your front yard and watered your plants along the fence. The betony plants were beautiful, its sight was calming your nerves as you poured water over them. The sound of a door closing caused you to look up, watching Draco as he was standing in his yard with what seemed like a cigarette attached to his lips before he took it out and placed it onto an ashtray that was on his porch.
He walked over to the fence that separated your yards. The smell of the cigarette was in the air and it reminded you of your late father. “I meant it last night,” he mentioned his apology. You didn’t really know what to say so you just nodded and went back to watering your plants.
“But if I recall, you did start that fight,” he chuckled. You glared up at him for a few seconds before returning to your task. “Alright, I guess I’m sorry too.” Draco scoffed and just whispered ‘Whatever’ and walked away. “Wait,” you called for him before he walked back into his house and luckily, he stopped. “I’m sorry,” you said with sincerity. “Can we just start over?”
He stared at you, visibly contemplating your question then finally said, “Sure.” He walked into his house and you stood shocked in your yard. Your mother walked out and announced to you, “Honey! Breakfast is ready! Come on, I think your plants are watered enough.” With the snap of your screen door, you were released from your daze and walked inside. Maybe this week is turning around after all.
-
Draco sat in his room, not exactly sure what exactly happened. Was he really going to try and become friends with a muggle? He could imagine the look on his fathers face. Just because he had lost in the Battle, didn’t mean that he magically accepted muggles and muggle-borns. Narcissa didn’t like them much either but she also didn’t hate them as Lucius did.
This would shock not only his parents, but also his friends, Blaise and Theo. Merlin, the person that would probably have a field day about this would be Hermione Granger. He sat there, imagining Granger either laughing at him or cursing him after all the bullying he put her through. All those years of calling her a mudblood and he becomes friends with a muggle. A No-Maj. A Wiccan No-Maj. But then he thought about what Ian said at work. Y/N is really nice. Weird, but nice. And when he agreed to having a fresh start with you, he figured that it would give you a chance to prove him wrong about what you were like.
Or she could be exactly what I always thought muggles to be. Foolish.

The Half of It
A Mc x Poppy fic inspired by the film
Summary: Bea, the town’s outcast is recruited by the school jock to win Poppy’s heart. But what happens when she starts falling for her as well?
Author’s Note: So this will be a multiple part series that includes scenes heavily inspired from the movie “The Half of It”. I certainly recommend watching it. My version will have different twists and a different ending, and definitely more angst. It will include mature themes as the story progresses.
Warnings for this chapter: Swearing. This is a good thing for now.
Chapter 1-
“Love is simply the name for desire and pursuit of the whole.”
                                                   - Plato, The Symposium
It is said that when one half finds its other, there’s an unspoken understanding. A unity. And each would know no greater joy....than this.
...Except this is highschool. And in my opinion, there is no other half. Maybe the other half is a paper on Greek God philosophy due at midnight. But make that four papers, including mine.
My name is Bea Hughes and let’s just say...this is not a very happy story. Well maybe some parts are, but you’ll have to read to find out. I come from a small town called Farmsville, and when I mean small, I mean really small. Except the highschool seems fucking huge, with never ending hallways and when you do somehow find the end, there’s usually two inbreds eating each others mouths off. Lucky for me I am the epitome of antisocial, reserved, an introvert, or whatever the inferior beings, aka every other senior, calls me when they think I can’t hear. But I hear everything, including that one time Bradley Denbrough, upcoming hotshot actor, or so he claims, found out about a crush a poor unsuspecting freshman had on him. Everybody knew what Bradley and his goons did to that boy, even the adults, but no charges were pressed. This town is as conservative as it gets, but no one knows of my secret. I carry this school on my back when it comes to having everyone graduate, but that’s all I am to them, a pawn. And that’s all I wanted to be, nothing more and nothing less. I preferred to be in the shadows.
 ***
...Except the mandatory Senior Talent Show forced Bea out of her hibernation hole. The thought haunted her as she sat in the dance studio, the last fucking place she wanted to be. Dance was so not a Bea kinda thing, but the blonde knew exactly why she granted herself the misery of picking the class. Poppy Min Sinclair, the golden girl of Farmsville High, the preacher’s daughter on a more serious note. She is...the most fascinating girl Bea ever laid her eyes on even if her boyfriend was a complete asshole who sermonized his duties as her future husband. Like seriously? Poppy has got to have some screws loose to date such a fake loser who plagiarizes all of his speeches at sunday church, and once literally begged Bea to write an apology letter to his father for him after completely upending their summer cabin. Except the blonde wrote the opposite of an apology, it went something like this…
Dear beloved donkey, I mean dad,
I am terribly sorry for inviting 20 hookers to the summer cabin. I have these strange impulses and you should at least be grateful I didn’t invite the big boss as well. His wife came though, in many, many ways. You should get the carpet changed.
 Sincerely, your STD free son
It was safe to say that Mr. Denbrough had a near heart attack after reading it, and Bea did kinda feel bad, kinda. He never mentioned the letter to Bradley though, instead silently calling up the owner of Teopoli Catholic Summer Camp and essentially deporting the boy to Canada for the summer. No son of his would end up in hell was what the old man preached everyday from then on. It was the quietest summer Bea had ever experienced.
Being the towns outcast, Bea could have her fun when she so chooses to, but that didn’t pay the bills. In fact, the multiple essays that people paid her to write was her way of surviving and taking care of her mother. They weren’t very rich but Bea worked with what she had, helping her mother manage the farm, which included getting on her knees and wrestling the pigs. And that’s how she was gifted the name “pig girl”, stupid Bradley and his fake friends just had to wander too far and catch Bea in the act. She swore a remixed video of her hog calling surfaced the web at one point and that gave the blonde her five minutes of fame. Boy was it an awful time in her life.
Bea worked her mother’s previous job as station master or signalman for the trains that passed through, even if it barely paid her shit. The secluded feeling of sitting in that booth and having a moment with her thoughts was enough to give her purpose. Bea was fond of poetry and it usually helped her come up with song lyrics.
 Song lyrics…
That she would have to sing at the talent show. A huge sigh escaped her lips as she slumped further into the ground, maybe hoping she could bury herself six feet under. It wasn’t that Bea hated singing, no she absolutely loved it. Playing her guitar at night and belting out lyrics that only resulted in her mother banging on the ceiling below in efforts to shut the blonde up. But the mere fact that she’d have to sing in front of the ruthless seniors rubbed her the wrong way. Something would go wrong, it always did. Bea was shaken out of her thoughts when Poppy crossed the center of the room, moving her hips slowly to the sound of Rihanna’s voice. The class chose a slow r&b song to choreograph today and of course all eyes were on Poppy.
If i’m your girl say my name boy
let me know i'm in control
Her silky blonde locks swayed as she danced to the beat, hands thrusting sensually along her sides. Bea stared in awe, almost like Poppy was the only one in the room and a spotlight illuminated every movement, every curve. Except she definitely wasn’t the only one picturing Poppy in that way. Carter, the school quarterback leaned against the railing, arms crossed and eyes trailing the rise and fall of her chest.
Got me wondering, I’m wondering if i'm on your mind
Bea sat up straighter but nearly lost her bodily functions when Poppy locked eyes with her before spinning away. It was simple eye contact Bea, don’t let it get to your head. You already have multiple lyrics inspired by Poppy offering the bare minimum in human interaction. She doesn’t actually like you. Poppy is popular and has the perfect life...and boyfriend, even if Bea heavily disagrees. Poppy was a bitch of course, but not a bitch bitch. Unlike the other wannabe mean girls, the blonde didn’t give Bea hell, well that was because the girl paid her zero attention. She seemed distant, off in her own world, or well in her parents world learning the strategies of business. Poppy was expected to follow in her parents footsteps and keep up with her reputation of being the richest in town, and of course a faithful future wife. So fun. But the blonde had other prosperous dreams of travelling and following her passion of music and dance. Highschool was her only outlet and she took advantage of it any chance she’d get. Bea knew this because she would ride her bike every friday night to the school and watch Poppy dance from outside the glass window. Maybe Bea realized it was kinda creepy, but she’s dumb enough to not realize her obvious growing attraction. I mean who pedals miles just to watch someone trip on their feet?
 ***
The sound of the bell caught everyone's attention and the teacher slowly lowered the music. Bea watched as Bradley approached Poppy and smothered her with kisses and praises. She rolled her eyes painfully, this kind of PDA definitely wasn’t it, she could have gone her whole life without seeing that. She walked silently through the crowd of kids in the hall, everyone was laughing and talking to their friends. All Bea could allow her mind to focus on was the very intimidating billboard of names a few feet across from her.
Winter Talent Show Sign-Ups (Mandatory For Seniors)
Bea glared at it quietly before signing her name on the sheet, sealing her inevitable fate. Through the hustle of students, Carter watched the blonde with a yearning look from afar. This should be great…
The next few classes were a blur and Bea eventually found herself getting up to hand Ms. Kingsley her paper. The older woman looked at her with a knowing glance as she took a generous sip of her coffee, which was 75% tequila.
“6 different interpretations on Plato? Colour me impressed Miss Hughes.”
Bea shrugs nonchalant, “yeah well would you rather read their actual essays?”
“Oh hell no.” Kingsley feigns shock as she looks at the stack of papers with a comical expression. She takes another sip, watching her younger, prodigy of a student carefully. “You know there are places outside of this godforsaken town where you can put your talents to use... Real use. I teach at Belvoire University occasionally.” Ina winks and slides Bea an application, studying her initial reaction. “It’s...in New York.”
“Damn right! The Big Apple.”
“Kingsley you know I have to stay here. It’ll be easier for me to manage the farm and be close to home”, Bea says confidently even though her body language displays otherwise. She predicted the big sigh filling her ears before it actually happened and it still managed to faze her. “Who ever said you had to do anything? What about what you want to do?” Bea doesn’t make eye contact with Ina, that woman could convince you to do just about anything with a certain look. “No we are not doing this. You can take your reverse psychology and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. I’m outta here.” The blonde stomps out of the classroom, the sound of Ina’s chuckles still ringing in her ears.
“Hey! Everyone in this town fears God, but you know what God fears? My ability to hide a bottle of Don Julio in my left boot.” Ina pulls out the newly bought bottle and cradles it. “Come to mama.”
 ***
Bea rode her bike alongside the dirt road, Kingsley’s words on replay the entire ride. Maybe she did deserve to experience something more than what this town had to offer. But would her mother manage without her? Sacrifices, sacrifices. Bea was used to making those for her mother after her father’s death. What would her dad think of all of this?
 “Hey!”
He’d surely smack Bea upside the head for the little antics she pulled occasionally. And then he’d buy her vanilla coconut ice cream and ask for every single detail of what happened as they sat and laughed together. That’s the kind of relationship Bea would have had with her father, she liked to assume so. She also liked to assume that she’d get home safely everyday without a scratch, but then there’s Carter.
 “Hey wait up!”
The jock seemed to be running ridiculously fast and crashed right into the rear end of Bea’s bicycle, sending her face first into a mount of dirt. The initial impact was enough to boost the blonde straight back up like nothing happened and into a fighting stance, fists out and eyes wild. Very scary Bea. When she realized it was him...well it only pissed her off even more. “What the fuck Carter! You asshole!”
“I’m sorry Bea! Here let me help-”
“No! Move away! You- my bike- I…” Bea groans frustratingly, stepping away from the wreck as she tries to catch her breath. Carter watches her sheepishly, rubbing an envelope between his fingers awkwardly. After a few minutes of painfully uneasy silence he speaks up, “Okay...I didn’t want to ask you this way but I was wonder-”
“Oh, so you practically break my ass and now you want me to do you a favour? Real nice way of communication you have there Mr. Quarterback. What is with you and those freakishly large muscles anyways? Maybe it’s my fault I didn’t hear your avalanche built ass coming from behind.”
“Hey! They are not freakishly large!”
“I hate to break it to you Jackson but mine are significantly more appealing to look at.” Bea smirks widely, flexing her arm as best as she could. It’s a work in progress… just bare with her.
It didn’t take much effort for Carter to break out into a smile and look at her fondly. Maybe there was more to this girl than just being a human dictionary. Well that’s what people called her, and he maybe believed it at first.
Bea noticed the lack of response and shifted awkwardly, clearing her throat. “Listen, its $10 for three pages, $20 for three to ten, I'm not in the over-ten-page biz.”
“No..no I’m not here to cheat!” Carter blurts out. “But I’ll let you know if I do plan on- anyways. I uh..” He hesitates before handing her the envelope. “What’s this?
“Well you see it’s a letter..”
“Yeah but who writes letters these days?”
 “I thought it seemed romantic..”
“And I thought women writing Jeffrey Dahmer letters in jail seemed romantic”, Bea says sarcastically, her smile dropping instantly after catching a glimpse of Poppy’s name at the top of the paper. It was like the blood stopped flowing through her body for a few seconds as her mouth went dry. This had to be the work of the so-called God everyone praised in this town, or it was one cruel coincidence. Bea wasn’t sure why seeing her name made her heart beat ten times harder, but it also wasn’t a necessarily uncomfortable feeling…
 “I- I can’t help you.”
“But if you just add a few more words-”
“I’m not writing a letter to Poppy Min Sincla- to..to some girl for you. Letters are supposed to be authentic, from the heart, your own words, your...feelings.” Bea hurriedly turns to grab her bike, suddenly losing all interest in being social.
Carter was afraid this would happen. But he was stubborn. “But I can pay more for authentic!”
Too bad Bea was stubborn as well. “Just get a thesaurus...Good luck, Romeo.”
***
Bea sat in her room, strumming away softly at the strings of her guitar. Some of the keys were off but the old thing still worked, and that was good enough for her. She could hear the tv blasting downstairs, her mother most likely watching the news. There’s something about old people and news, were they secretly ogling the news anchors? Just like Bea ogled Poppy any chance she could. The blonde frowned to herself, her eyebrows crunching together in question. What so hard about writing a letter to Poppy? It’s not like it's coming from her. Well it technically is, but Carter is taking the credit and Bea never had a problem with people taking credit for her words. So why did this very thought prove to be such an inconvenience? Lucky for Bea, her mind drifted elsewhere when she heard a painful snap. Even if it wasn’t physically connected to her body, she felt a horrible ache. Slowly peering down at the guitar in her hand, Bea found that the neck of the guitar had miraculously split almost clean off, a splinter of wood just holding it intact. She wanted to scream but nothing really came out, except air of course. Much to her disapproval, this was definitely a result of her strength. Stupid muscles couldn’t contain themselves at the thought of Carter being with Poppy. Now how could that be?
But now she had no guitar. And no guitar means no strings to strum, and no lyrics to sing, and no talent to show at the talent show. Now she was in trouble. Probably because she knew that the only way to get the money to replace the guitar would be through sealing the deal with Carter. Oh fuck it!
 ***
“One letter. And enough money to buy a new guitar.”
 “Deal!”
Bea turns away with a sigh, completely ignoring Carter’s high five. Now all she had to do was write this letter, and pray that Poppy wouldn’t completely consume every fiber of her being in the process.
                                 -------------------------------------------
End note: So how we feelin’? Carter and Bea Brotp??

Thor (Ragnarok) - fanfiction
Pt 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7
Characters: Hela x fem!reader, Tony, Nat, Thor
Word Count: 1,474
Warning: angst angst angst angst
You don't know how long you stood at your shattered window for. Your fingers were numb from gripping the windowsill and it had begun to rain.
A warm hand covered your own and pulled you gently away before you caught a cold. Natasha sat you down in the living room and Tony set to work on your window. Thor handed you a cup of tea, and you could taste a shot of something had been added, but you welcomed it warmly.
“Should be fixed in no time, Y/N,” Tony was the first to speak up. Natasha sat next to you on the couch, staying quiet. Thor was pacing back and forth, impatiently.
“We have to find her,” he growled.
“No, we don’t,” Nat retorted. “Wherever she is, it’ll be a waste of time tracking her down.”
“She may know something about Thanos!”
“I doubt that, big boy,” Tony sighed. “If she knew something about Thanos, you  really think she would’ve waited here with Y/N until we all came looking for her? If I’d been her, I would’ve fled ages ago.”
“You don’t know my sister, Stark.”
“Well, clearly you don’t either.”
“If you knew what Hela was capable of-,”
“Please, be quiet,” you said, softly. The two men ceased their bickering and looked at you. Tony crossed his arms and sighed.
“Wanna tell us what happened?”
“I- I don’t know, okay? She.. we became close, that’s all. I liked her. I think she liked me too.”
“Y/N, she’s a merciless killing machine,” Thor spat. “She cannot be trusted!”
“She didn’t kill me, did she? She had plenty of chances, but never killed me. Nor did she ever run away even after she was free.”
“And why exactly did you free her?” Natasha asked.
“Because I trusted her. I trust her still. She didn’t hurt any of you, nor me. She’s just protecting herself.”
“And then she ran off and left you alone. Very trustworthy.”
“It’s not that simple!” You slammed the cup on the coffee table, angry tears streaming down your face now. “It’s not fair. You guys can’t just come in here and- and fuck everything up!”
Startled, the three looked at you, quiet for once.
“She- she was wonderful. Better than anyone I’d ever met! And then you fucked it up. And now I’m alone, again, because you guys refuse to ever talk to anyone!”
You were gasping for breath as you cried, and Nat hesitantly drew your into a hug. You slumped in her hold.
“Instead, you just come in here with weapons ablaze, and scare the shit out of both of us. I thought.. this time, I really thought...”
You blinked more prickly tears away.
“We’re sorry, Y/N. But it’s over now, and she’s not coming back,” Natasha said. “You think she’ll come back after what’s happened?”
“She wouldn’t just... leave. She has no where to go.”
“I doubt that,” Thor interrupted. “She has plenty of places around here she can fit right into. Maybe a goth band.”
Natasha threw a pillow at him.
“Y/N, come with us. Your place needs to get cleaned up. We’ll get you sorted out, and it’ll get better, okay?” Natasha cooed you quietly. “But you can’t think about her right now, nor can you trust her.”
“She killed thousands of people without a second thought, and almost killed me, too,” Thor said. “If it came down to it, she would kill you too.”
You felt numb. Part of you screamed outrage at what they were saying, but you felt like you had no other choice. You had no idea what was going to happen next, and now you were alone again, unsafe and vulnerable. At least the Avengers stuck around, right? Maybe Hela really was just waiting for a wait out.
You heart ached and you felt tears welling up again, but you quietly nodded. Natasha helped you pack a bag and Tony set the security locks for your place before you shut everything off and locked the door behind you.
-
Hela’s lungs were on fire from gasping for so long. Not because she was out of breath from running, but she was out of breath from crying. Cold tears stung her cheeks as she finally came to a halt somewhere deep in the city. Car horns and chatter sounded all around her.
She paced on a stretch of sidewalk for a few moments, trying to gather her thoughts, trying to keep your scream out of her head. The way you pleaded, cried out, struggled to help, was burned into her memory. It hurt more than all the memories of people she’d killed, all the blood she had spilled, and her heart broke over and over again.
Her eyes shifted to glance behind her every few moments, expecting a hammer-wielding God or a man in armour to come charging at her at any moment. The idea of being blamed for Thanos’ work or having to face him or the grief of your friends terrified her. Thanos was not something she could face, at least not in the state she was in now.
Her body ached from the sudden exercise and adrenaline coursing through her veins. She wanted to eat something, Hela decided. Not that she needed to, but she wanted to.
Snatching a hotdog off of a lonely vendor, the man shouted at her at first, but one glare shut him up. There was a kid with a hotdog staring at her as she devoured it, mustard dripping on his shirt that depicted a star surrounded by  white and red rings.
“Are you an Avenger?” he asked, gawking. She looked at him, incredulous, wondering if you would’ve been mad if she killed this kid on the spot just out of spite. Instead, she raised her foot and nudged him until he stumbled and dropped his hotdog. Amid his sniffly cries, Hela grabbed another hotdog and marched away, fuming.
She could no longer feel the impending doom of the past few days, and she realized it really had been a sign of Thanos’ incoming attack. Her mind ached with worry, something she wasn’t used to. She was worried about you and your loved ones, and even the Avengers. Even her asshole of a brother who tried to kill her multiple times.
She’d become soft and caring, Hela realized. She snorted despicably at the sensation, but it ached with a need for comfort as well. Your comfort. She wanted to be back in your home, with cozy heating and food for days. But if it meant you being in danger, she’d have to hang out here in the slumps of the city, in secret, until she could figure out how to protect you and what to do next.
Hela passed an ice cream shop. She had learned what shops were here, how they worked, and what to do, but she con’t be arsed at the moment to follow any of the etiquette you had advised her on.
Stomping inside, she demanded the largest portion of green tea ice cream they had. Their diner TV was on, news of the ‘Blip’ keeping all their attention.
“Unusual flavour!” the worker at the cash register commented, clearly flustered by a customer acting normally for once. “Extra large then?”
“Give me the whole tub,” she ordered, eyeing the container that a co-worker was scooping ice cream out of.
“Sorry, ma’am, we can’t do that, you’ll have to order a size-,”
Hela lifted her leg and smashed the cash register, bills fluttering in the air. “Now.”
Trembling, they did as she asked, and she took the ice cream scoop that came with it as well. On the way out, she kicked the door hard enough that the glass in it shattered too.
You had once told her, humorously, how many people your age would binge-eat ice cream and other sweets when heart-broken. Now, Hela understood why.
She wasn’t worried about the Avengers fighting her. Clearly, they were more concerned with you and half their population disappearing than with tracking her down.
People took no notice of her, they seemed accustomed to people walking down their streets with horns coming from their heads and carrying a freezing cold tub of ice cream.
Hela walked far enough until she reached the supermarket you had taken her on her first trip out in New York. She bunkered down next to a homeless fellow sitting by the front door. He had a little cap on the ground with a few meagre coins tossed in it, and he was clearly startled by the angry goth woman coming to sit next to him, chomping ice cream.
She offered him some, he refused, and so she kept eating in silence, glued to the spot, despite the cold weather and stares.
And that was how Loki found her.

Erwin caught your eye a few times. You two went to the same college, hung around the same groups of people, and even had a few classes together. He was hard to miss, really. With his charming blue eyes, perfectly sculpted face, even his beautiful smile that he gave to you whenever you passed him. You noticed the way his eyes would narrow when he’s concentrated on something, how he idly fiddled with his pencils after finishing a test. You know, things you’d usually notice about someone.
Not to mention him catching you staring at him a few times during class, from across the room. Hey, you couldn’t help it. He’s just extraordinarily handsome, that’s all, is what you told yourself. Maybe you would’ve believed that at first, but not now. It’d been far too long, having been around seven months. You’d known of him for seven months, but had yet to have a conversation with him. Sure, you’d said hi a couple times when you ran to get your morning coffee, or when you waved to him while he walked to meet his friends.
You weren’t exactly friends, per se, but more so acquaintances. Besides his name, you also knew other things about him, like his birthday - which happened to be today - and things like his favorite color, coffee blend, artist, etc. However, you weren’t sure he’d really acknowledged you even existed. He was very good friends with two other people in your class, Levi and Hange. You hadn’t formally met Levi, due to the fact that he didn’t seem to enjoy the company of other people - not that you complained - and you’ve talked to Hange a handful of times. They’re louder than Erwin and Levi, always earning a scoff and a harsh ‘Shut up, Four Eyes,’ from the smaller man.
He hung with them frequently, and from what you gathered a few months ago, they’d been friends for a couple of years. Erwin trusted them greatly, and they reciprocated. You wished you had that type of relationship with him, but settled to yearn from afar. Most would probably describe you as weird, but you wouldn’t. At least not out loud, anyway.
The bell rang, signaling the class was over, and you snapped out of your thoughts. You’d spent the class time fondly gazing in Erwin’s direction, missing the strange look Levi gave you. He’d noticed that you’d done that a lot and brought it up to Erwin a while ago, but the blonde dismissed it. Erwin figured you were staring at the wall or something, before he shot a glance in your direction, briefly meeting your eyes. From that day forward, he began noticing you too. Not that you picked up on, of course.
Packing up your things, you left the classroom and began heading to your dorm. However, when you were halfway there, you noticed that you’d left your pencil on the desk. You cursed to yourself, turning around to go retrieve it when you came face to face with someone’s chest, craning your head upwards to see who it was. To your surprise, it was Erwin, pencil in hand. He gave you his famous smile that melted your heart, clearing his throat to speak.
“Sorry to seem like a creep,” He nervously chuckled, fiddling with the item in his hands. “But I noticed that you left it at your table and wanted to return it. I hope this doesn’t seem weird,” He mumbled, handing it to you. You stared in astonishment for a moment, before shaking your head. You took the item from him, smiling in response.
“Thank you,” you said as you placed the item in your pocket, to put in your pencil case for later. “But um,” you tilted your head, pointing to yourself. “You know who I am?” That earned you a laugh and an even wider smile from the man in front of you, causing your heart to thump louder in your chest.
“Yes,” he chuckled. “We have a class together, silly. You sit closer to the window, two rows behind me.” You nodded, a blush forming on your cheeks. You honestly didn’t know what to say, you didn’t think he even knew your name, let alone where you sat.
“Right,” you confirmed, fiddling with your fingers. “What brings you to my dorm?”
“I wanted to bring your pencil back, remember,” You internally facepalmed. He just said that, you thought, feeling embarrassed. “I’m also here for another thing,” he continued, staring into your eyes.
“I was wondering if you wanted to join my friends and I for a birthday dinner tonight.” He looked at his watch. “It’s at eight. I’ll pick you up at seven.” You already knew who the friends were, of course.
Your eyes widened. He wants me, a stranger, to join him for dinner? Someone that hasn’t had a full conversation with him ever, to join him and his closest friends? You internally panicked, Erwin clearing his throat to snap you out of it. You sheepishly rubbed the back of your neck, nodding in response.
“Sure.” You pulled your phone out of your pocket, opening the contacts app and pressing the button to add a new one. Inputting his name in the field, you turned the device in his direction.
He took the device from you, fingers brushing yours. Oh fuck.
Erwin gave your phone back to you, waving you goodbye as he walked in the opposite direction. Looking down, you noticed he not only input his number, but put a ‘;)’ next to his name.
Hurrying back to your room, you fumbled with the key to unlock your door before pushing it open, throwing your bag down and rummaged through your closet. It was almost hilarious how fast you moved, tossing items you disapproved of onto your bed. It seemed like what you had in your wardrobe didn’t fit the occasion. Or, maybe you were just overreacting. Probably both, to be honest.
Thirty minutes later, you finally decided on an outfit. You’d gone for something simple, not too over the top. Sliding on your flats, you checked yourself out in the mirror, smoothing any creases or wrinkles out with your fingers. You were nervous, to say the least. Maybe nervous was an understatement. Checking yourself once more, you checked the time on your phone. It was about 6 pm, meaning you had an hour left before Erwin came to pick you up. You made a quick run to get him a birthday card, signing it and adding his favorite candy in the bag next to it.
You spent the next hour lost in your thoughts, missing Erwin’s text thirty minutes later and jolting at the sound of someone knocking on your door. Glancing at the clock on your nightstand, it was indeed 7 P.M. You stood up, double checking that you had everything you needed before heading outside to join Erwin. He greeted you with a grin, glancing at your outfit. He held his hand out for you to take, leading you to the passenger side of his car and holding the door open for you.
He informed you that Levi and Hange were already at the restaurant, waiting for the two of you to join them, meaning you’d be alone during the car ride. The ride itself was initially nerve-wracking, but things calmed down once he’d broken the ice by telling you a few jokes of his. He made you laugh and asked a few questions about you on the ride there, learning your favorite color and the type of music you liked to listen to. You found that Erwin was really easy to talk to, in addition to being funny.
Arriving at the restaurant, he opened your door for you once more, leading you inside of the restaurant. It was fancy, having beautiful portraits on the wall and playing classical music over the speakers. Your eyes scanned the crowd, spotting Hange waving the two of you over, with an unenthusiastic looking Levi next to her. He looked like he didn’t want to be there, but Erwin assured you that he always looked like that.
Taking your places across the brunette and raven-haired man, a couple of menus were placed in front of you. You flipped open the menu, eyes scanning the options. There were plenty, various dishes containing some type of seafood and the other side of the menu containing kid’s meals. You hadn’t noticed that there were a curious pair of eyes on you, admiring you.
You’d ordered and enjoyed your food, exchanging a bit of small talk with the people around you. Hange and Erwin cracked a couple of jokes, their loud laugh resonating throughout the restaurant. Levi, as usual, was mostly quiet but did engage sometimes, throwing a poorly-timed shit joke just as you were taking a bite of your food.
Despite being nervous at the beginning, you came to truly enjoy the event. It felt like you fit right in with them and they welcomed you with open arms. Well, if telling you shit jokes could be counted as open arms. They definitely got a few giggles out of you, almost making you cry from laughter at one point. You had a wonderful time and was thankful that Erwin invited you.
After paying the bill, the four of you left separately. Hange and Levi drove to their dorms and Erwin drove you back to yours. The car ride was pleasant, the radio playing songs the two of you liked. The most notable one being ‘I Wanna Be Yours,’ by the Arctic Monkeys. You sang along and Erwin hummed beside you. His larger hand brushed over yours, fingers stroking the back of it.
After reaching your dorm building, you sat in the car for a moment. Erwin’s hand squeezed yours, making you look at him. The look in his eyes was soft, one you’d never expected to see from him. He gazed fondly at you, bringing your hand up to plant a kiss on it.
“Thank you for tonight,” he whispered to you. “I hope you had a good time.”
“I did!” you blurted out, startling both yourself and Erwin a little. He laughed it off, nodding.
“I’m glad.” Silence remained for a brief moment before you reached in your bag, handing the card and candy to him.
“Happy birthday,” you mumbled, leaning against the back of your seat. “I wanted to get you a present, but I didn’t have much time, so I rushed out and got you your favorite. I hope you like it.”
He was touched. His hand cupped your cheek, him leaning in to give you a gentle kiss on the lips. Your heartbeat thumped in your ears as your eyes fluttered shut. Internally, you were screaming; yelling to the high heavens, so loud you would’ve lost your voice.
But on the outside, your hands were slightly shaking as you lost yourself in the kiss.
Erwin pulled away, stopping to mutter a quick “Thank you again,” before pressing his lips to yours once more.

A Cure for Insomnia CH 14
Somehow someway you had ended up spending the night in Toby's room. What had started out as sitting next to him turned into laying down next to him. And after a while of no talking or movement, just the steady sounds of breathing. You more or less closed you eyes for a minute.
Before you knew it you were waking up to sun in your face. And found a blanket haphazardly thrown onto you. Though honestly you probably just moved a lot in your sleep. A quick glance around the room tells you you're alone and by the looks of it have been for a little while now. Weirdly there doesn't seem to be a clock in the room and when you go to check your phone the battery is dead.
'Oh God what time is it?' you worry as you gather yourself to leave the room in search of a clock.
Even though you have the strongest suspicion that you're already late for work. Fuck Nate is gonna kill you. You hope you don't get fired for this. That doesn't really seem like the Cowell way but you really don't want to risk it. No where else in town would pay the bills plus give extra cash for doing jack shit.
Just as you closed the door behind you you see Toby and Connor walking up the corridor. Toby has two bowls in hand and his steps falter a bit when he sees you.
“Shit did I wake you up?”
You can see the veins in his arms as he tenses, poor guy must have a tic coming on. You hold your hands out to give him the option of handing them over so he can relax. With no hesitation on his end he does just that.
“No? I don't think so, I just woke up. What time is it?”
Toby's hands jolt in place. A large tremor of movement, thankfully you took the bowls from him so he wouldn't have splashed...cereal? Your confusion must have shown because you get a nervous laugh in response.
“It's like eight twenty or something.” seeing you visibly deflate he adds, “Barry told me to tell you you're excused from work today.” He took a bowl back from you and placed a hand at the small of your back to push you back towards his room. Apparently done with having a conversation in the hallway and letting your breakfast get soggy.
“Barclay.” you remind him, your efforts award you a shrug, “and are you serious? Because making me late for work wouldn't be very funny.”
He plops on his bed and a bit of milk sloshes out of the bowl dropping on to the sheets. In the back of your mind you think about how Barclay more than likely is going to ban Toby from the lodge for anything other than an emergency. At least if he ruins the bed by dropping food all over it...actually you're pretty sure Jake's mentioned there being a rule about eating in the rooms.
“I'm serious, you can go ask him yourself.” his face flushes as he shovels a spoonful of Captain Crunch into his mouth, “twey shed somfingu bot ah ahpawawgee for da kid”
You give Toby a sneer as you process what he just said. Even normally your brain didn't always process what was said to you properly and Toby speaking with a full mouth certainly didn't help in any case. But you can kind of gleam a bit more context from his red cheeks that your spontaneous three day weekend is thanks in part to Jo hanging out with you yesterday.
Really you didn't mind that she hung out with you. But you would accept the apologetic day off for her attempting to give you a love life. You aren't one of her gossip stories nor do you wish to be.
“First, gross dude. Second, I'll take it.”
He snorts, “Watching me chew through the hole in my face is ne-neat but me talking with my mouth full is where you draw the line?”
“Honestly I never even thought of that.”
You can't help but let out a chuckle at how dumb that must have made you look. Geez you were such a dork sometimes. On the other hand it seems like that must have been the funniest thing Toby's heard in a while as he roars with laughter. Soon your chuckles turn into full blown laughter from Toby's contagious mirth.
“I'll get out of your hair after I finish eating.” you finally say when the two of you calm.
“...you don't have to do that. I-i thought we cou-cou-could hang out?” he says sheepishly.
Toby tends to stutter when he's nervous you notice. Maybe this was to be expected you kind of did solidify that you both wanted to be friends. Of course that would mean opening up to hanging out together on purpose more often.
“I'd like that! Did you have something in mind?”
The room goes quite, well more accurately Toby goes quite as you finish your cereal. Looks like someone hadn't thought this far ahead. At least you aren't the only dork in this room or this friendship for that matter.
Toby's dark eyes scan around the room, not really looking for something while he thinks of something you could do today. Instead of just staring at him like a creep you turn your attention to the rottweiler looking at you with hopeful eyes. Connor's eyes briefly moving towards your bowl where a tiny bit of milk sits and then back at your face. Licking his chops as he looks you dead in the eyes.
Having a pretty good idea of what he wants you look for Toby's bowl. If it was on the ground that'd be a good indication that Connor's allowed a bit of cereal milk if it was on the bed well then you'd still have your answer.  And sure enough right next to Connor's butt is an empty bowl.
Yup, Barclay is so gonna ban Toby from the lodge.
Throwing out any thoughts of the lecture you'd get if Barclay were to find out you let a dog eat from his bowls you place the bowl in front of Connor. Who sits in his position and won't stop making eye contact with the bowl. Tail going a mile a minute as he stares at his prize in anticipation. God he really is the best boy in the whole world.
“Thank you Connor.” you whisper to the dog before he attacks the bowl.
As the pup rips into the left over cereal milk, which wasn't even that much, you can't keep yourself from flapping your hands right by your chest. The fast movement seems to catch Toby's attention and brings him out of wracking his brain for ideas. Giving you a moment to just enjoy the happy stim he just watches. It isn't until Connor has bounded over to you letting you pet him as a 'thank you' for giving him a treat, that Toby speaks up.
“Is there...what's there to do here?”
Looking at Toby as you shake Connor's ears around, you don't immediately say anything. Honestly thinking of just what the two of you could do in this small town. Something that wouldn't prove to be too distracting and maybe give the two of you a chance to get to know each other better. Something without too many interruptions or things to get you off topic.
“Wanna go get a slushy?”
Toby's brown eyes cut as he stares at you unimpressed.
“I kno-rrow that we're in a small town but, 's not that small.”
“Oh no it's actually smaller.”
He rolls his eyes with a huff ready to bite in with a snarky remark no doubt until he catches your eyes and the serious expression. He stares at you, eyes darting across your face looking for a sign that you're joking.
Thankfully you aren't one to leave a friend in the dark.
“Tobias, the gas station Tim works at is the only one for this town.”
“That can't be right, it's not even in town. What about...” once again Toby's eyes shift as he tries to think of any other gas stations within Kepler.
When he comes to the conclusion that you are indeed not fucking with him and Kepler does just have the one gas station his shoulders slump. Almost like he's in shock that he hadn't caught that sooner. You can feel the tinkling sensation of a tic coming up, at the base of your neck. Timing it mentally as you watch Toby go through the stages of grief you miscalculate and ruin your tic.
Head jolting into your right shoulder rather than jerking above it. Letting out a small “fuck” at the fact that you're about to be in an uncomfortable sensation, not totally unlike when you chase off a sneeze but still do need to sneeze. You feel the tic at the back of your head but know it won't be going away anytime soon and all thanks to your hubris.
Looking back at Toby you find he's moved on from the single gas station fact and is looking at you mildly amused. Briefly you wonder if he's ever chased off a tic and felt the uncomfortable sensation you're now dealing with. That leads you to ponder if he's ever even felt the anticipation of nerves before a coming tic. It's not really a painful sensation but discomfort sometimes goes in hand with pain so maybe CIPA affects that feeling too. You'll have to ask, but first you have to shut his stupid face up.
“Shut it.”
“Didn't say anything.” he smirks.
His smiles are really growing on you. They feel special and very genuine despite the awkward nature of his facial movements.
“Hey wait, the mini mart doesn't even have a slushy machine.” he says as the realization finally sets in.
“Yea we have to drive to another town for one. So far Franklin has the best slushies but it's like two hours away.”
You lean your weight back onto your hands watching as Toby's wide eyes stare at you in disbelief. Actually in this light you really can't tell if Toby's eyes are blown wide or in their normal state. Judging from the way his lips curl over his teeth you figure they must be as he stares stunned by something you've said.
“Do you seriously drive two hours for a slushy?” the disbelief in his voice is thick, but not thick enough to cover the thinnest hint of amusement. Maybe even pity.
“Not all the time, sometimes its only like thirty. One night I actually drove five hours without realizing it...though to be fair I did get lost.”
Lost in your thoughts on that particular night some how you'd ended up in Point Pleasant. Instead of a slushy you'd gotten a Mothman themed iced coffee. A nice trip over all but one you didn't want to go on at the moment.
Coming back to the present in time to catch Toby flopping back on the mattress his curls bouncing up over his face as he did so. He let's out an exaggerated groan.
“Still, Brian's got the car today.”
Pfft that's not an issue.
“I have a car.” you say plainly.
That must not be the issue because Toby raises himself onto his elbows to look at your lax form on the carpet. Leaning back on your hands with Connor splayed across your lap looking ready for a nap. Toby opens his mouth to say something before shutting it and looking off to the side. He seems to collect himself quickly but not enough to look at you.
“Uh..I, that's not really the...” well maybe he hadn't collected himself that much.
Brow furrowing as you squint at the man before you. The two of you don't know a lot about each other but from what you've noticed Toby has some hang ups about drivers and driving. Although he's let you drive him home once that doesn't mean he was comfortable with it or wanted a repeat performance. And while you don't consider yourself a bad driver you'll spare Toby the difficulty of admitting he isn't comfortable with you driving.
“You can drive.” dark brown eyes are on you the instant the words spill from your lips, “You've driven my car before. Plus I don't mind I like not driving.”
His eyes dart from you to Connor and back up into your face. Even though they're darting slightly you know he isn't such evaluating your expression. He's thinking and weighing his options.
“You sure?”
And with no hesitation at all, “Absolutely, you've driven it before.”
Though he hadn't been thinking of that particular issue with being given the choice of driving your car. It did bring up another insecurity before hastily stomping it into the ground. He has driven your car, albeit once, before and you are giving him explicit consent to drive it again. Regardless of his tourette's, Toby honestly can't believe you have such blind faith in a person you've just befriended. Then again that's friendship isn't it.
“Ok then...let's go?”
After a nod from you Toby grabs Connor's gear to get him ready for the drive. Meanwhile you take the dishes back downstairs to the kitchen, letting Toby know you'd meet him by the door. Unsurprisingly Barclay is in the kitchen when you get down there to place the bowls into the sink.
Seeing as it's just the bowls and spoons in the sink you decide you can wash them before placing them in the sanitizer rack.
“Mornin'.”
“Good morning.”
“Basket's on the table.”
“Thanks.”
A quiet settles over you two and you can feel Barclay's brown eyes trail towards your form every few seconds. Finishing the dishes you turn, leaning your butt onto the counter, to face the lumbering man.
“Can I help you?” you raise a brow at him. Clearly he had something more he wanted to say.
“I, I just thought we were closer than that.” he sighs.
Okay what now? Your confusion goes ignored as he continues to speak.
“Seriously YN, you didn't need to sneak away last night if you wanted to spend the night here, and with your boyfriend. I wouldn't have judged.”
“My who? Tobais? He's a friend!” you whisper scream in case Toby is near by. God could at least save one of you this embarrassment.
“Really YN? From the things I'm hearin' you two are a bit more than friends.”
“Ok seriously where are you getting your info from? We haven't done anything. Like just YESTERDAY we agreed we were friends. We've known each other maybe a month?!”
“See that's why this is confusing, you don't touch just anyone. And suddenly you're handsy with some new kid.” Barclay had the decency to start whisper screaming with you. He's gesturing vaguely towards the rest of the lodge before bringing his hands before him and flailing them away. As if to say 'what am I supposed to do with this now?'
“He's neurodivergent!” you say bringing your palms up in front of you.
“So are Jake and Aubrey.”
“And I high five Jake so much.” throwing your arms outward to indicate how much you two high five. “Plus he gets a hug nearly every time I see him.” hands brought back to emphasis this point.
Barclay thinks on that for a bit, “Point taken,” he stands from his hunched position and crosses his arms over his chest, “so y'all aren't dating? Nothin' happened last night?”
“No and no.”
“Don't have to deep clean the sheets today.”
“Gross and no.” best keep the milk droplets out of this, you'd really like to leave the kitchen sooner rather than later. Preferably with no lecture about hygiene and the importance of respecting other's property.
Barclay looks down at you scanning your face for something you aren't quite sure of. But you have a feeling he's treating you like a child for a very specific reason.
“I'm not a virgin.” you deadpan as the man before starts to sputter.
His eyes wide with disbelief. So he really thought you were a virgin this whole time? You wonder who else thought this, you hoped they wouldn't try to confront you about your nonexistent relationship.
You'll just never understand why people assume you're a virgin and why they try their hardest to butt into your life when they think that way. This topic tends to put you in a sour mood and you can already feel it on your face. It's disgusting how people can't mind their business about baseless assumptions.
“Jeez sorry YN,” he does look it as he rubs the back of his neck, “it's just you've never shown an interest and I guess we all got swept up in the possibility of seeing you happy.”
“I am happy?”
“I mean in a relationship, happy in a romantic relationship.” He claps his hands gently on your shoulders. A touch you've gotten used too, had you not wanted it you would've taken a step back.
“Kirby's not in a relationship.” you point out.
“Kirby's gross, and you're adorable.” he chuckles at your glare, “a-dor-a-ble.”
“I will bite you.” he lets go of you with a laugh.
“We're just...trying to keep you safe.” he sighs, and though you don't understand what any of their weirdness has to do with “keeping you safe” you nod. Just to get this over with faster.
“Can I leave now? Tobais and I were gonna get slushies.” he didn't need to know your plans but you didn't want him assuming you two were sneaking off for a date.
“Yea yea, sorry for keeping you.” he leans against the counter as you grab your basket and head out of the kitchen and towards the main door.
Toby and Connor were already waiting for you. If the swaying of his weight was anything to go by they'd been waiting for you for a bit. Seeing you coming his subconscious movement stops and he opens the door. Keeping it open for you.  You lead him over to your Soul as you look through the basket for the keys.
“Keys?” he questions as you pat your pockets.
Toby stops walking with you as you begin to panic. You've lost your keys. Before you voice that though you look through the basket once more, placing it on the hood of your car so you can use both hands to check. His eyes follow you and are caught by a gentle swaying.
“You are a serial killer's wet dream.”
He opens your passenger side door and comes out holding your keys that had been in the ignition. If the blank look he gives you is anything to go by he's not impressed.
“I,I,I was in a hurry!” you say flustered that you did something so stupid. His expression doesn't change.
“Could you pop the trunk please?” you ask not looking in his direction.
The click of the lock is all you need to hear before you rush around him to place the basket in the back. As you do you catch sight of the deer skull still in your trunk. With everything going on you hadn't been to see Madeleine for a mount for the guy. You'll have to remember to stop by her shop this week.
Toby had already gotten Connor situated in the back by the time you sat down in the passengers seat. After buckling in and plugging your phone in to charge you stare ahead of you waiting for Toby to start driving. When you look over at him you see he's staring right back at you with a brow raised.
“Yes?”
“Where are we going?”
Yes the key detail of any road trip, the driver needs to know the destination. Unfortunately for you and Toby you've forgotten to tell him one crucial detail. You drive with no sense of direction. And you relay this to Toby. He looks seconds away from getting out of the car and claiming he's never seen you before much less ever been friends with you.
He takes a deep breath and collects himself.
“Y'know what Brian's worse with directions.” he says more to himself than to you.
He calmly puts the car in gear and heads off to town. No input from Connor, you may have chosen a really good day for this drive. Your phone hits one percent as you pass Resort Row. You know the Hornet's Nest is coming up and that intersection leads to the interstate despite not having legible signs.
“Hey when you get to the Hornet's Nest swing right then drive straight, we'll end up on route 3 onto the interstate.”
“Hornets' nest?”
“It's a skate/stunt park. You'll see it after we get away from the mountain.”
Just as you said Toby saw the Hornet's Nest as he turned onto the road leaving the mountain. By the time you were on route 3 your phone had charged up to seven percent. Enough to turn it on and put on a playlist. You put on one of your sea shanty and folk punk combos.
Toby hasn't even let the song get thirty seconds under way. “No vetoed, we are not listening to sea shanties.”
So he does have music preferences, fair enough. You switch to a playlist with a more chilled electric vibe that has a few oldies tossed into the mix. Toby hasn't heard this playlist before and you are determined to learn his music tastes today.
“Wait wait wait, so you'll listen to folk punk but not sea shanties?”
“How are those even related?”
“They are literally the same thing.”
The two of you continue to bicker back and forth about how similar, or different, shanties and folk punk are. Occasionally it's broken when you read a sign, noticing Toby's horrible squinting, to see if you're on the right route to...well you don't know the destination Toby's been ignoring most of the exits for the past forty minutes though you're sure you two could find a gas station with a slushy machine at any one of the surrounding towns.
You don't mind though you're really enjoying the ride. The soft sounds of the car cutting through the wind at seventy three miles an hour. And the dull hum from the engine falling into the background as They Might Be Giants plays softly through the radio. With a majority of his focus being directed to the road  and the handful of other cars around you, your conversation is limited to topics that don't require much thinking. Really you've just ended up playing twenty questions with the other pulling uno reverse.
Not life altering secrets or deep talks...well until the question was favorite romantic comedy.
“How is Venom a romantic comedy?” Toby laughs after you answer.
“They kiss!” Toby just snorts.
“No Venom in Anne's body kisses Eddie.”
“Yes Venom kissed Eddie. Romance.”
You hear the murmur of 'oh my fucking God' come from Toby as you giggle in your seat. Having been egged on by that simple phrase you continue.
“Eddie is always giving Venom chocolates.”
“Oh yes, sorry, that's very romance.” Toby laughs out rolling his eyes.
“Thank you, I'm glad I could enlighten...” you pause as a sign for the next exit catches your eye. Had you two already driven two hours? Time really does fly when you're having fun. “Hey next exit, Franklin.”
“Thanks got it.” this time he turns on the blinker to get over into the exiting lane.
“What gas station am I looking for?” smart man. He's stopped asking for specific directions and is now asking for a land marker.
“Giant baby.” the car comes to a stop at a red light and Toby takes his eyes off the road to face you.
“...is this...will I just know when I see it.” “When you see it” you say the last part in unison with him nodding solemnly.
To his credit Toby has gone a long way with your weird antics, despite being your official friend for less than a full day. Keeping up with this pattern he doesn't ask anymore questions about this giant baby, keeping his eyes peeled for anything worthy of that title. His valent efforts are rewarded not even ten blocks from the turnpike.
“Is that...”
“Giant baby.” you nod knowing he sees the giant opposum decal in the window of the beat up gas station.
Opening your glove box you remove a spare mask for yourself before offering a sealed in package one for Toby. Who readily takes it after he parks your car in front of the store. Turning to look at you, you can read all the skepticism on his face. It's funny how this is where he questions you, your destination and not like the way over here-or the moment right after you told him you had no sense of direction.
“They have the four divide mega slush.”
“What the hell is that?”
With a coy smile you put on your mask and exit the car waiting at the front for your friend to get his shit together. He doesn't take long to follow you, Connor's lead in hand, into the gas station.
For as dingy and beat up as it looks on the outside it isn't bad once you step inside. Might actually be cleaner than the mini mart in Kelper. Toby glances around taking a mental tally of all the patrons in the store and their positions. He does this a bit. Just hyper aware of everyone when in enclosed spaces.
Dragging him over to the slushy machine after acknowledging the cashier's greeting. Showing him the four divider mega slush cup you demonstrate how it works. Choosing the only three flavors you like and adding a random extra of the three into the forth slot.
The face he makes when you stick the straw in the middle is priceless.
Toby demonstrates how a slushy should be made. Grabbing the single cup and over filling it with cherry flavored ice. He doesn't pick up a straw and you two make your way to the counter.
Since Toby drove here you had no problem paying but he was quicker to get his wallet out and hand the cashier a ten for your slushies. They give him back his change and you two wind up back in the car, taking off your masks.
You take a long sip from you drink.
“I can't believe we drove for two hours for you to just wreck your taste buds.” a playful disdain in his voice.
“Not 'we', you.”
He cuts his eyes at you before shaking his slushy into his open mouth. Guess he couldn't use a straw when he was missing part of his cheek. No suction there.
“So?” you say adding the questioning lilt to your voice.
He shrugs, “It's good.”
“Worth the drive?” He shakes his head.
“Nah - drive made it worth it.”

Warnings: noncon sexual acts (blowjob); alcohol
This is dark!Bucky and dark! Loki and explicit. Your media consumption is your own responsibility. Warnings have been given. DO NOT PROCEED if these matters upset you.
Summary: Your father was a bookie and taught you everything you know about numbers. After his death, you were taken on as a bookkeeper for Loki Laufeyson, resident crime boss in Manhattan. But can you keep your place in the background when a man from Brooklyn threatens to drag you to the forefront?
Note: This thing never ends but I’m not complaining!
Thank you. Love you guys!
As always, if you can, please leave some feedback, like and reblog <3
Tumblr media
You stared in the mirror. Your cheek was swollen and your entire body was sore from his touch. The bathroom was a mess still. Water all over the floor.
He’d left moments before. It had taken too much to get him to go. Thinking of what you’d done, you felt stupid but you didn’t regret. If you could do it again, you’d have choked him harder, sooner.
You touched your tender jaw and whined. Loki would know the moment he saw you. Another gruelling day made longer by his disapproval. Even if he didn’t guess, he might find out from his business partner. You frowned and winced.
Well, you could try to lie, you just had to make it believable.
You inhaled and grabbed your clothing from the table along the wall. You swept through to the bedroom and shoved them messily into the end of your bag, half hanging from the zipper. You took the night shirt and pulled it over your head.
You went to the front room and crossed to the mini-fridged beneath the glass bar. It would be satisfying to add the costly drinks to Bucky’s bill in your deception.
Well, if it worked.
You took out three of the miniature bottles of chardonnay and two of the tiny whiskey bottles. It was almost five. The sun would be up soon and Loki too.
You paced as you uncapped a bottle of the chardonnay and drank it. One bottle would be enough of a buzz to make it believable. As you reached the dregs of the wine, you opened another and poured it down the sink behind the bar.
You swigged a mouthful of the whisky and dribbled some down your night shirt. You checked the time and emptied both bottles down the drain. You washed away the liquor from the sink.
You tested your breath as your vision began to glow. An hour had passed. Loki was an early riser. You expected him at seven, eight if Thor had kept him up late.
You took the third bottle to the bedroom. You messed up the bed and turned the lamp on the night table on its side. You tried to shake off the heady glow which sank into your brain. Maybe a whole bottle was too much.
You went to the bathroom and rumpled up the rug. You pushed over the stool beside the door. You looked around one last time. No sign of Bucky. No hint of him having bent you over the brim of the tub. Nothing but the bile in your stomach.
You tossed the bottle of wine so that it smashed across the tile. You got down, careful not to cut yourself as you laid down beside the remnants. You laid half in the puddle of chardonnay, your feet over the rug as your bruised cheek rested painfully against the cold floor.
You closed your eyes and swallowed. Now you just had to wait. Your eyelids got heavier with every passing second. The smell of wine burned your nostrils and the liquid in your stomach felt thick.
You snorted awake as you heard the decisive banging on the door. You didn’t move and did your best not to tense up. Your eyes felt loose in your head as your mind bubbled from the half-slumber you’d sunk into.
You listened to the distant clamour outside your hotel room and slowed your breaths. Keep your eyes closed and don’t move.
The wait was interminable. Finally you heard the subtle beep of the lock on the door.
“Thank you very much,” Loki said from the front room. “So careless of me to leave my key inside.”
“Not at all, sir,” Another unfamiliar voice answered. “These things happen.”
“Here,” Thor said and footsteps faded away as the door shut.
Soles scuffed over the marble, softened by the rug, and grew decisive as they entered the bedroom. You focused on your heart beat as you listened closely.
“Looks like she had quite the night,” Thor mused as something moved.
Closer, closer, closer. You felt the shadow in the doorway and kept your breath steady.
“Mmm, so she did,” Loki’s heels clicked on the tile as he neared and toed you with his shoe. “Thank god I’m not paying for all this.”
“Is she alive?” Thor asked. You felt a thick hand on your arm as you were pushed onto your back. Your arm fell across the tile limply. “Christ, look at her face.”
Loki sighed as a rough palm settled on your hot, bruised, cheek.
“Wake up,” Thor’s thick fingers rubbed softly as he tried to rouse you. “Honey, honey,” He cooed. He slipped his arm under you and pulled you to sit up. “Hey, hey. Fuck, Loki, you wanna get some water or something?”
You grumbled and your head lolled against Thor’s arm. Fingers snapped in front of your face as you let your eyes flutter open. You swatted Loki’s hand away and belched.
“What’s you doin’?” You slurred.
“What are you doing?” Loki countered as he knelt beside you. “You certainly enjoyed yourself, didn’t you?”
You frowned and tried to wave him away. Thor chuckled and hooked his other arm under your legs and lifted you. It was frightening how easily he was able to hold you.
“You should’ve invited us,” Thor kidded as Loki stood and stepped aside as you were carried through the doorway. “We can still get in on this, eh?”
“It’s barely eight in the morning,” Loki slithered. “Get her on the bed. We haven’t time for this… mess.”
“Poor thing, you’ve driven her to drink.”
Thor dropped you on the bed, his hand grazing your thigh as he drew away. He paused and shoved his hand further up your night shirt. You flinched, your cunt still tender from the night before.
“Don’t touch her.” Thor’s hand was ripped from between your legs. “She’s barely awake.”
“All the better.” Thor boomed. “I don’t mind it. Easier.”
“You truly are vile, brother,” Loki sneered.
“I can be quick,” Thor pulled your shirt up over your pelvis.
“You are here for business,” Loki snarled and tugged the shirt back down. He tore the blanket from beneath you and covered you with it. “Go. Wait for me in the other room.”
“You are no fun, brother,” Thor huffed but left.
Loki waited for him to disappear beyond the door then carefully sat beside you on the mattress.
“Darling, you must think you’re so clever,” He touched your cheek and you winced. “But when you sober up, you will realise how dumb you truly are.”
He shook his head and jostled you as he rose.
“I expect you will have slept this tomfoolery away by this evening,” He said. “And since you will have missed a day of work, you will make that up to me.” He neared the door and turned back. “And this will not happen again.”
👄
You weren’t sure if you were really hungover or you had slept too deep. Despite your wiser forebodings, you let yourself drift off shortly after you were left alone. You needed the sleep but you also needed to get your shit together.
It was clear after the previous night that you could not go on like this forever. Sooner or later, likely sooner, these men would break you. You weren’t delusional enough to think you could outlast them. Already, you were exhausted and the casino felt too much like a tomb.
It was already two. You groaned as you climbed out of bed. You weren’t going to wait around for Loki. You showered in the glass booth and the hot water eased your body. Your eyes stung but you gulped back the sudden wave of hopelessness.
You dressed. You hurt. A lot.
You pulled on a tea length skirt and a simple sleeveless blouse. The only real mark of your intense night was your swollen face and the rest of it could as easily be explained away as the result of your drunken fall.
You grabbed your phone and shoved it in a small purse along with your wallet and headed out. You hailed a cab and had it drop you off a street away from the casino. You found a cafe and ordered a double espresso. You sipped the bitter brew as you traversed the next block.
The casino was still a hive of activity. You were barely noticed as you passed the men in their hard hats and you kept your head down as you climbed the stairs. It was almost four.
You passed the open door of Loki’s unfinished office, then that of Bucky’s. Both were vacant. Luck, for the time being.
You exhaled and approached the door of your own office. You’d hide there until Loki returned. If you cut him off at the pass, he might not be irritated enough to really make you suffer.
You stopped short as you entered. Behind your new desk, sat a broad figure. Your ledger sat open before Thor as he slipped carelessly through the pages. You clung to the door and peeked out behind you.
“Ah, you’ve recovered. Already?” He smirked as you turned back to him. “Do come in.” He stood. “Apologies, I was told I might use your space in your absence and I didn’t expect you so soon.”
“Loki doesn’t appear to be in his office,” You approached one side of the desk as he rounded the other. You kept away from him. “I’m certain he wouldn’t mind--”
“Fun night?” He asked as he strode towards the door.
“I don’t… remember, if I’m being honest.” You lied as you checked your second drawer. The lock was broken. “Not much at all.”
“No? Just got a little carried away, did we?” He swung the door shut and crossed his arms as he turned to lean against it. “Lonely, perhaps?”
“I have a lot to catch up on,” You sat and ignored him as you set your coffee on the desk along with your purse. “And I’m sure you--”
“You don’t remember anything? Not even this morning?” He wondered.
“Bits and pieces,” You sighed.
He slowly traipsed towards the other side of your desk. He planted his large hands by your ledger as he loomed over you. You didn’t look up as you took a pencil from the top drawer.
“My brother’s a prick,” He said. “I get it but it’s no reason to shun me.”
“Thor,” You sat back and placed your pencil in the middle of the ledger. “This is business. I’m doing my job. Go do yours.”
“Fortunately, my work is already done for the day,” He said. “I think, in fact, I have earned a brief respite.”
“Go,” You said firmly. “I still have work to do.”
“Oh, you do,” He said as he stood. “Go on and get under that desk. Show me why my brother likes you so much.”
“Get. Out.” You snarled.
“You really don’t know when you’re punching above your level, do you?” He walked around the desk and you swiveled your chair and stood.
“Thor, I mean--”
He grabbed the back of your neck, his other hand on your shoulder, and forced you into the chair.
“It’s okay, I’ll stand,” His fingers dug into your neck as you whimpered.
His other hand went to his trousers and he tugged the tails of his shirt loose. You tried to stand but he was too strong. You grasped his thick wrist and tried to wrench it for your neck.
“We don’t want to break that face entirely, do we?” He flicked his button open and slid the zipper down. “Come on, honey, I know that mouth of yours is sweet. I’ve seen it myself.”
“Let me go,” You kicked out and his hand slipped around your neck to your throat.
He choked you as he freed himself over the top of his pants. His cock was thick and throbbing. You tried to roll the chair away from him but his grip only tightened.
“Open,” He guided his tip to your mouth and pressed it to your lips. You tried to turn away. “I’ll break your jaw, honey. I’ll break every part of you, now open up.”
Your eyes watered and you gasped as you opened your mouth. He shoved himself inside, his hand quickly swept to the back of your head. He forced his way into your throat and you choked, teetering on the edge of your chair.
“Oh, wow, oh,” He purred as he wiggled his hips. “Amazing.”
You slapped the hand on the back of your head and your body spasmed as you gagged.
“You can do it. I know you can take all of me.” He pushed even deeper and you couldn’t breath. You reached up and grabbed onto his jacket. “Oh, yeah, that’s it.”
He pulled back and you gulped for air around him. He slid your mouth up and down his length, faster and faster as his groans floated around you. The sloppy noises of your mouth made you even sicker and the stone set behind your brow grew even sharper.
“Oh, I think for the first time… I’m starting to understand my brother,” Thor rocked his hips as he fucked your face, gripping your throat and head firmly. “Fuck, I’m already close.”
He kept on. Your breath and throat ragged. You were dizzy and sickened by the slobber that dripped down your chin. You clutched his jacket desperately as he continued to sped up.
“Swallow, honey,” He grunted and shook as his thrusts turned frantic.
He dipped several times into your throat then held himself there as heat flooded into you. You slapped his stomach as you struggled to swallow around him. He pulled out as your throat began to constrict and you managed to gulp down his salty cum.
A string of cum hung from his cock as he let you go and backed away. He turned to lean against the desk and sighed. He took his pocket square and wiped himself clean with it before dropping it in your lap.
He zipped his trousers up and stood as he cleared his throat. You coughed and covered your mouth to keep from vomiting.
“Now, I know my brother is the jealous type,” He strutted around the desk and rolled his shoulders. “So, this stays between us, right?”

a brooklyn blackout
pairing: steve rogers x oc (helena nepheros)
word count: 1,609
summary: Steve finds a light in the darkness in the middle of a rainstorm.
warnings: Some h*ckin’ words.
a/n: Thank you so much to @queen-kass-the-writer for commissioning this!  I had such a good time writing it, and I love your OC!
Steve couldn’t help but let out a sigh as he jogged through the rain.  It had been pouring down for the last twenty minutes, but he didn’t take much notice of it.  The serum kept him warm.  And from getting sick, which was convenient.
It was early in the morning, before most things had opened.  The sun hadn’t even risen yet.  But there was a glow coming up ahead.  A light at the end of the tunnel almost.
He frowned as he came to a stop, looking up at the sign hanging over the small corner building.  “Helena’s Heavenly Bites…”
There was a knock on the window, and his eyes met bright baby blues.  He was struck for a moment, almost ashamed that he’d been caught staring up at the sign.
But then she motioned for him to come in, flicking the lock for him.
“Uh, hi,” he said shyly as he poked his head in.  “Sorry.  I just didn’t expect anywhere to be open this early.  Especially not in this monsoon.”
“Oh, we’re not open,” she said with a shrug, wiping her hands on her apron.  “I’m just getting all the baking for today done.  I was putting fresh cookies in the display when I saw you.”  She eyed him for a moment, and he could swear that she was about to recognize him.  “I’m Helena.”
“Are you…”  He motioned towards the entire bakery, a slight grin on his face.  “You know…  The Helena of Helena’s Heavenly Bites?”
She snorted, covering her mouth with her hand demurely as she nodded.  “Yes, that’s me.”  The pretty brunette led him back towards the counter, and she poured him a cup of fresh coffee.  “... Are you going to tell me your name?”
“Oh!”  His cheeks went fire engine red.  He had just gotten into the habit of assuming that everyone knew who he was by now.  “Uh…  I’m Steven.”
“Steven,” she said, a flush on her cheeks as she poured herself her own cup of coffee.  “So, Steven, what are you doing out here so early?”
He sat on one of the bar stools that lined a good section of the counter.  “I start my run at four-thirty in the morning every morning,” he said with a shrug.  “It wasn’t raining when I left.”
“Hmm…,” she mused absentmindedly as she absentmindedly wiped down the counters.
The bakery smelled heavenly.  Like…  Like chocolate and goodness and…  It was like…
“Are you making Brooklyn Blackout cake?” He asked, his mouth falling open.
If he closed his eyes, he could imagine that he was in his childhood home again, watching his ma move around the kitchen as she stirred various bowls.  It all seemed like such nonsense until it came together in the end in the most delicious cake he’d ever had.  She only made it on special occasions, like birthdays and holidays and when he graduated from high school.
It was one of the few memories he had left of her.  And then when the war had started and he’d become a soldier, it had become even more popular.  It was a comfort in the darkest nights.
“Yeah, it’s my specialty,” Helena said, her cheeks rosy as she ducked her head.  “Once it’s out of the oven, I’ll give you a slice.  On the house.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” he said, shaking his head.
But the girl—no, woman—just shot him a look.  “Nope.  I insist,” she said.  “Besides…  I’m the owner.  I can do what I want.”
He finally relented with a bit of a smile, holding his hands up in surrender.  “Okay, okay…  How can I resist an offer of Brooklyn Blackout cake?”
She disappeared back in the kitchen, and he took a moment to look over the bakery.  It was cute.  Really cute.  It was decorated in pastels and all things sweet.  Kinda like a 1940s soda shop.  It was sweet.
When Helena came back, it was with a still steaming tray of lemon blueberry muffins.
She was so damn cute…  With her oversized turtleneck and messy bun…  Not to mention the sneakers that squeaked every time she changed directions.
“So…  How’d you get this place?” He asked curiously, nodding his thanks as she poured him a second cup of coffee.  “Not to be rude, but you can’t be older than twenty-five, and you already have a corner building?”
The giggle she let out was heavenly.  “I’m twenty-six, actually,” she said, giving him a playful look.  “Um… actually, I got the money from my dad…  He saved up my entire life.  Never knew until after he died…  I was gonna go into nursing school.  I’d been baking my whole life and I really wanted to go to culinary school, but… there’s more of a guarantee in nursing.”  She leaned against the counter, a bittersweet quirk to her lip.  “He died my senior year of high school… and then they read his will, and we found out that he’d saved up over a hundred thousand dollars for me to go to culinary school and start my own bakery.  He could’ve spent it on his medical bills and not worried so much about them, but…  He wanted me to go to school.  Follow my dream.”
He wished he had a father like that.  His ma was great, but… Joseph Rogers was a piece of fucking work.  He’d had to work two jobs during art school, which wasn’t an easy feat.  He had to help ma with the bills as well as pay for school as well as making sure his art homework actually got done.  Sometimes the paint on his canvas would still be wet when he left for class in the morning, and he’d have to hold it in a way that would ensure it didn’t get fucked up.
“That’s amazing,” he said quietly.  “Really…  You’re lucky.”
“Oh, I know,” she said, sitting up on the counter as she sipped at her coffee.  “I…  I got really lucky, having him as my dad…”
There was the sound of a timer going off on the oven, and she let out a squeak as she jumped down and ran for the kitchen.  “My cake!”
Steve Rogers was pretty convinced that she was the cutest fucking thing he’d ever seen.  She reminded him of the good girls in the forties, the good girls with the starched skirts and shining Mary Janes.  If they were in the forties, there was no doubt in his mind that she’d have pristine red lipstick and her hair would be in the most perfect victory curls.
But he liked her like this.  The twenty-first century had taken a while to grow on him, but…  Knowing that a woman could own her own business, choose her own life without as much backlash or hurdles to jump through…  It was amazing.
Helena was amazing.
He felt a spark in his heart that he hadn’t felt in so long.  Something he thought was impossible.  He’d thought his heart was out of commission.  It was over a hundred years old by now.  Shouldn’t he have needed some kind of transplant for… well… all his organs by now?
Steve perked up as she came back with the cake on a display tray.  “That smells absolutely delicious.”
“Well, we have to wait for it to cool down so I can ice it,” she said, her cheeks pink.
“Or we could just eat the entire thing right now.”
“Right now?” She giggled, shaking her head as she watched him.  “I do have to save some for the other customers.”
“What if I bought the entire thing?”
“The entire thing?!”
“The entire thing.”
She looked at him in a way he hadn’t been looked at before.  Or at least, not in a long time.
Like he wasn’t just the shield.  Like he wasn’t just a weapon.  It was… refreshing.  He could just be Steven with her.  Maybe he’d be Steven the Artist.  Yeah…  He could be Steven the Artist.
When she finally did serve him up a piece of the cake, he was quite sure he had died and gone to heaven.  “Holy shit, this is perfection,” he moaned, his eyes fluttering shut.
“Yeah?” Helena asked, her blue eyes bright with excitement.
“Yeah,” he said, grinning as he took another huge bite.  “I’d pay you to make me one of these every day for the rest of my life.”  His eyes met hers, and there was a change in the air.  There was definitely a… a moment.
He opened his mouth, ready to say something along the lines of, “Any chance you’d wanna go out for dinner sometime?”, when there was a knock on the door.
When Steve saw Bucky standing at the glass door, his car parked right outside, he seriously considered the possibility of shoving him into the first trash can he saw.
And from the look of realization on Bucky’s face, he knew it, too.
“I guess that’s my ride,” he said quietly as he looked at Helena’s sweet face.
“Oh,” she said, trying to hide her clear disappointment.
He stood up from the stool, shoving his hands in his pockets.  “Maybe I’ll see you tomorrow?  And I can pay you back for the coffee and the cake?”
Helena shook her head, a shy smile pulling at her lips.  “No… Don’t worry about it,” she said softly.  “Just…  I’ll see you tomorrow morning?”
“Yes, you will,” he said with a grin as he walked backwards towards the door.  “You’ll have some more of that cake, right?”
She nodded, trying to fight the instinct to bounce in excitement.  “One Brooklyn Blackout coming up.”

Werewolf!Taehyung x Mate!Reader
Chapter 7.
Warnings: Angst, Fluff
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Just one more push, baby.” If those words exit your new found fiance's mouth one more time, you’re going to slap him. Through your pained daze you can feel a towel brush against your forehead. Gritting your teeth and throwing your head back you give one final push before crying loudly. The pain radiates throughout your body, white hot pain courses through your veins as you scream loudly.
“There she is!” Taehyung cheers beneath you and you sag down on the medical table as the third and final child is pushed out of you. With a shaky sigh, you look up to the three chosen protectors of your triplet daughters. Jeongguk pulls the towel off of your head before giving a dog-like whimper as your fiance hands him your newborn daughter. His canines drop and you’ve learned from the first time seeing it that you hate to watch the werewolves teeth break your childrens skin.
“She’s so beautiful.” Hoseok whispers at the little girl in his arms before looking down at you with a beaming smile. You want to return it as his cheekbones bounce high but all you can do is look down at your mate as he cleans you up. His lips press sweet kisses to your thighs, which are numb and can feel no touch. It’s then he feels your eyes on his and his crystal blue irises find yours before smiling. “You did amazing, baby. I’m so proud of you. I love you so much."
You want to tell him you love him and you love all of your children but sleep enshrouds your brain, drifting you off from consciousness as your head lolls back.
“Baby?” Taehyung whispers gently before standing up, his lips press to your sweaty hairline before looking at his pack members. His eyes begin to sting as he watches his daughters sleep before kissing your forehead, “You did so great, my love.”
His canines drop as he grabs your wrist, daintily holding it before sinking his teeth in. You were so exhausted you didn’t even move, not even a whimper emitted from you in the medical room. “Did so good.”
You slowly wake, eyes blearily opening before seeing your mate sitting at the end of the bed. He notices your slow movement before turning to you and smiling. In his arms was one of the three girls you had given birth to not too long ago. “Mommys awake!”
You give a soft smile before sitting up and holding your arms out. She is placed in your arms and your mouth drops open at how beautiful she is, she looks just like Taehyung. A cute button nose and perfectly pouty lips grace her features. “I like the name Jangmi.” He whispers softly before crawling behind you. His legs spread wide, pressing his chest to your back before kissing your mate mark.
“Jangmi is a nice name.” You whisper as she opens her eyes. They were fully black, which isn’t so shocking the second time around seeing it. You know they’ll turn blue within a few days like Taehyung’s. “Thank you for being my mate and giving me so many precious, beautiful children.”
A sloppy kiss is pressed to your cheek and you giggle at his sweetness before looking at the cradles in the room. “You made them their own room, why are the cribs in here?”
Your mate chuckles, almost as if he’s embarrassed. “Because, I put them in their room and I missed them.” You pout at his cuteness before elbowing him gently.
“Alpha has new girls to take care of. I’m going to be old news.” You joke as Jangmi begins to whine. You pull down your robe before putting her to your breast and you feel the small rumble emit through his chest. “Oh, no. You’ll never be old news, baby. You’re my everything.”
His hand dances over your forearm, fingertips grazing your skin sweetly before kissing your temple. “Let me make you some food. You must be hungry.”
"Alpha wolf must be really pleased to let sappy Tae come out to play." He snorts at that, a breathy noise through his nose before he stands up. “You do know that my wolf chose you as his mate as much as I did, right? The amount of love I have for you could rival all the stars in the universe. That’s what it means to be a mate. You see nothing, think of nothing, feel nothing for anyone of the opposite gender besides the one you love. And, fuck, do I love you.”
He kisses you gently, but you could feel the passion that radiates off of his perfect lips. “Let me go make you some food.” He leaves but not before kissing the forehead of his daughter at your breast and the other two that sleep soundly in their cribs.
Tumblr media
The kitchen is cold when Taehyung enters, he can hear you whispering sweet nothings to your daughters upstairs and a smile spreads on his face as he approaches the refrigerator. He takes a deep breath before stilling. There’s a scent in the air, an unfamiliar one. One that makes the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. His body whirls around as he sniffs gently. It smells like another pack. Packs have been known to go through the woods at times, he even knows that Jaebeom and his pack regularly traipse through on their way to town but this is not that pack.
His feet quickly pad to the front door, eyes hardening over at the sudden thought of danger where his family lives. He can hear movement on the front porch and his chest rumbles, a deep growl emitting from him. If this was a wolf outside, they would have heard it. He stops for a second before hearing more movement outside. His hand grips the door handle before yanking the door open.
There stands a man, one he can very clearly recall. “Jo.” Taehyung's tone is brisk as he folds his arms before leaning against the door jamb. He takes in the tall, bald man before wrinkling his nose at the foul smell he emits. He watches with a lax expression as Jo stands tall, arms dutifully at his side. His heart begins to beat quickly, the sound filling his ears as he looks at the man. There was no good reason for an FWWA man to be standing at his house, one that he hasn’t registered on the wolf bill.
“You’ve been summoned.” His hand dug into his long leather trench coat before producing a black envelope with a bright red wax seal. Taehyung clears his throat, before grabbing the letter and throwing it behind him into the entryway. “Tell her no. I’m busy.”
Jo returns to his stand still position, and Ta can’t help but take in the new scar from the bald man’s temple to his chin. He must have gotten it in China just like his back scar. Sometimes wolves don’t heal the right way. “Can’t do that pack leader. She has summoned you.”
Taehyung puts his fingers to his temples, rubbing slow circles trying to calm himself before jutting his head towards the forest. “Fine. Whatever. Get off my property, you smell like shit.” Jo growls gently, a noise Taehyung does not take kindly as his canines drop. His tongue licks at his teeth before chomping loudly.
“Tae?!” He hears from upstairs and he sighs, “Get off my land, mutt.”
He closes the door gently as his sensitive ears hear your feet padding dully on the hallway carpet. He jumps to the entryway to retrieve the letter before shoving it down the back of his shorts as you begin to step down the stairs.
You appear within seconds with a raised eyebrow as your body leans over the stair banister. “Were you talking to someone?” His fingers feel at the wax stamp before smiling at you and shaking his head.
“Just myself. Are you and the pups okay?” You begin to smile at him and although his heart is hammering from the sudden surprise of the FWWA intrusion he finds himself smiling widely. “Yeah, I’m going to feel the other babies now.”
He wrinkles his nose before blowing you a kiss, “I’ll make your food quickly, hmm?” You nod before jumping back up the stairs. His eyes falter to the doorway before feeling at the wax stamp and closing his eyes. What the fuck do they want from him now.
The letter is lightweight but feeling like a hundred pounds in the back of his pants as he briskly jogs to the pack house. Taehyung rarely sweats, it’s not in his nature and yet his body has developed a sheen layer. He howls loudly to gather the boys and he hears their surprise mumbling to one another as he gets closer. Namjoon responds first before they collectively howl. His body jogs past the front line of trees before the pack files out of the house with curious faces.
Taehyung stops, hands on his hips. Their attention flickers to him and he can acutely smell the rain that’s about to fall from the cloudy sky. Could it be a sign? He produces the letter from the back of his shorts and a strangled noise comes from Namjoon who knows the meaning of the letter all too well. He received one right before his pack was taken by Taehyung.
Once in the living room, Taehyung lets the letter fall flat on the coffee table. The wax stamp helps the letter fall flat and it hits the table with a small thump. He puts his hands in a prayer before putting them to his lips. “Only three things could be in this letter. I’m getting kicked, I’m being summoned to become a chairman or we have to go back to China.”
All the wolves stare at the letter without looking at their leader. No one utters a noise although in the distance Taehyung can hear Baekhyeon crying and he cringes. He should be with you and not having to deal with this stupidity. It makes his skin produce goosebumps as he sits down on the floor, legs folding underneath him. “If they are kicking me, for some dumb reason, I love you guys.”
“We won’t let you go as Alpha, you’re a great leader Tae.” Namjoon whispers and he can’t say he’s surprised to hear that. He always just assumed Namjoon held some sort of resentment against him, although when they were in their wolf forms Namjoon’s thoughts never gave any inkling of it. It was probably just insecurity. Nonetheless, he was grateful for his words.
“We’re the best fucked up pack there is, no one is tearing up apart.” Yoongi mutters before leaning back on his hands, Tae smirks at his comment. Blue eyes flicking over to his hazel ones before looking back down at the letter. He has become acutely aware of his sweating palms. He wipes his hands on his shorts before picking up the letter. He lets out a shaky breath before hearing one of the newborn babies cry and he bites his bottom lip nervously.
His fingers, which shake to a degree, go to open the stamp before hearing Jeongguk call to him, “Hyung...I love you, just to...let you know.” The corners of the leader’s mouth quirk upwards before ruffling the younger wolf’s brown hair. “Love you too, pup.”
Jeongguk smiles warmly at him before Taehyung’s thumb swipes over the wax stamp. His eyes honing in on the brand in the wax. The wolf stands beneath a full moon and he closes his eyes, his heartbeat beginning to quicken. The wolves pick up on the noise, and they shift uncomfortably. The leader wasn’t normally like this, he was strong and steadfast, quick minded and equally quick witted. He was the best choice as Alpha and this the pack had no doubt. Jimin puts his hand over his leader’s squeezing it gently, showing his support. Taehyung looks over the letter at his friend from childhood before nodding. “Okay.”
His fingers lift up the wax seal, the sound of ripping paper makes him cringe. He swallows difficulty, as if someone had stuffed a ball down his throat. He pulls out the letter, gold lettering stamped into the black card of stock with blood red trimming.
Alpha Kim Taehyung,
You have been summoned by the FWWA for Tuesday, February 13th, 2020. You, your mate, pups and pack are to arrive no later than midday. The Lunaris Chamber has been opened.
Kim Soojae
He takes a sharp intake of breath before dropping the card as if it had burned him. His eyes go wide and the pack shifts awkwardly to his reaction. "Did you...Did you get kicked?" The voice belongs to the oldest member as Taehyung cards his hands through his silver mullet.
The Lunaris Chamber has been opened?! A three thousand year old chamber containing the most dangerous criminal werewolves has just suddenly been opened?! Releasing mongrel filth into the world?! A chamber that has been guarded by magic as old as time itself has suddenly been unlocked.
Taehyung stands up quickly making the other jump nervously. "Get anything that is important to you, anything you need. We're going away." His feet have a mind of their own, already walking towards the sliding glass door. You were alone with filth on the loose. He nor his wolf would stand for that.
"Why?! What's wrong?" Namjoon asks, picking up the letter with raised eyebrows.
"The Lunaris Chamber has been unlocked." The gasp he hears from the pack doesn’t go unnoticed to his ears as he begins to sprint back to your shared home. He can hear the boys shuffling around quickly and with a defeated sigh he runs at full speed back to the house.
“I-I don’t understand!” You tell your mate as he rushes to pack bags for you all as you feed one of the triplets. Taehyung grabs your clothes from the dresser before shoving them into the suitcase laid open on the bed. He doesn’t seem to be listening, he’s frazzled. His silver hair is a mess, blue eyes shifting from here to there but never landing on anything in particular. “Taehyung!” You whine loudly pulling the baby off of your breast to burp her. His eyes flit to yours at your exasperated whinge.
He rounds the bed quickly, hands pressing to either cheek before planting a very passionate kiss to your lips. Through this kiss you could feel ardor, sweetness and even nervousness. The way his bottom lip trembles has your heart picking up speed. He was never like this, he was always steadfast and yet, here he was nervously ticking over something. He presses his forehead to yours before sighing, his breath sweeping over your cheeks before closing his eyes. “We have to leave for a little while so it’s safe. Okay, baby?”
You still your hand on the baby’s back before pulling away from him, “We’re in danger? Will something happen to the babies?” His eyes narrow at you, index finger pointing at your forehead. “I will never, ever, let anything happen to you or my pups. Ever. And we are going to the Summit, for insurance.”
His words don’t make any sense and you mentally curse him for never truly telling you anything about his werewolf life. “Summit?! Where is that?! I don’t understand! I-” He cuts you off with a swift kiss, one that has you whining against his lips in frustration.
He looks at the suitcase before sitting on the bed and putting his hands on your thighs. His eyelids flutter closed as his mouth opens gently. “The Summit is on Jeju Island. It’s hidden away by a magic that is very, very old. It cannot be seen by people who are not wolves or their mates. We have to go there because the Lunaris Chamber has been opened. Why, I don’t know but we need to go to make sure we’re protected.” You pause for a second before laying the baby down on the bed.
“Well why are you so nervous, you’re never like this. Something must be bothering you if you are so antsy.” There it is, you know him all too well. You don’t need hyper smell or hearing. You know him because he’s yours like you’re his. And, because of this he hangs his head in defeat.
“I-I-” He stutters before putting his hands over his face. Stuttering? That’s not in this Alpha’s nature. “Only the worst wolves go into the Lunaris Chamber, the most crazed demons of our kinds. The kind that turn feral during full moons and kill people like in those horror movies. Psychotic wolves that have been infected by this sort of Parvovirus. It spreads through the mind and body like a disease, we still don’t know what causes it but it makes the wolf go insane. Absolutely nuts, the only way to kill a wolf like that is to rip their heart out and burn it. The brain becomes jumbled and warped. Their eyes turn fully black, the veins in their face turn black, and they always foam at the mouth.” His voice trails off as his eyes glue to the skin of your knees as if he’s replaying some horrible memory within his mind. You put your hand on his shoulder as his eyebrows furrow.
“Baby?” His head snaps up before he gives you a shy smile, something you have NOT seen before and you find yourself stiffening. “I’m okay.”
His voice is so gentle. So full of hurt that you hurdle yourself at him wrapping your arms around his body. He hugs you back, chin hooking over your shoulder as he closes his eyes. “My parents were in there.”
The admission drops like a loaded bomb and you make no movement as you close your eyes. No wonder he is so scared, so nervous. He makes a dog-like whine and you can feel your eyes begin to prick with tears. “I hated them since I was a kid. Not because they got infected, they were terrible people. They made me-” He stops short before clearing his throat and letting you go.
“Maybe one day, when they’re dead I can tell you. I have to finish packing up for us.” You sit there and watch him as he moves quickly without a word and your heart clenches within your chest. He was the epitome of everything beautiful in this world to you. He was so strong willed and determined. So ready to put his life on the line for you and his children and yet, as you stare at him now with this new found information you can see his guard lowered. You can see Kim Taehyung for everything he really is and your heart hurts for him. He has so much caged away to make sure his Alpha role is always present. He’s hurting and you’re just happy enough to know he trusts you with this. With everything. Because, you were his and he is yours.
The front door opens with a loud slam and you jump at the noise. Taehyung doesn’t pay attention as he closes up the suitcase, his eyes flickering to you before smiling gently. “We’re going to be just fine, baby. I’ll always protect my family.” Of this you were sure.
“You shouldn’t have to protect us.” His smile fades before he’s lifting the suitcase off of the bed and rolling it into the carpeted hallway before it falls over with a thud as the wheels get snagged on the carpet beneath it. He kisses your cheek before letting off a low whistle. It’s silent for a moment before you hear multiple sets of feet stomping up the staircase.
“We good to go?” His voice is rough as he picks up the bags on the bed. “Yeah, cars are ready to go.” He nods before holding his hands out to you. You take them quickly before standing up off of the bed. “Grab your pup and we’ll go.”
His arm wraps around you as Seokjin folds his arms before pouting, “You better have another one quickly, I’m feeling left out.” Taehyung chuckles before kissing your temple.
“Once Y/N gets to Summit, you know how that goes.” The guys laugh as they enter the room to grab their protected pup and you frown folding your arms. “Why am I not clued in on this joke?” You ask quietly as you watch the men.
“You’ll see. Summit is a magical place.” Hoseok wiggles his eyebrows as he holds your newborn daughter to his chest before kissing her forehead. “It’s not about magic, it’s about protection.” Taehyung mumbles stiffly before pulling on your hand.
“Let’s go baby.”
