Yesterday was kind of lazy / slow day for me. I went to a doctor's appointment, finished a commission, and updated some journals.

Summer is Over!

Summer is over. Not officially, anyway. But I move back into my dorm in 3 days. In 4 days, I start training to be a Resident Assistant. Then, in two weeks, classes start. 

This summer was actually pretty good. I had some goals, most of which, I didn’t succeed in.

Spanish - This fall will be the first time in almost four years that I’ve taken a Spanish class, and I wanted to do some work on Duolingo and Drops to prepare. I haven’t done that. I started re-writing and review vocabulary from my last Spanish class, but that is it. 

ASL - I haven’t touched ASL at all. It’s more a personal goal for me, to become familiar with it, but so far I haven’t been able to work on it.

Internship - My on-site internship ended 2 weeks ago and I officially finished when I sent in my paper at the end of last week. It was a really valuable experience and I learned what I don’t want to do with political science from the experience. In the end, that’s all I really wanted to get out of it.

Self-Care - My mental health has been a disaster since early March and it hasn’t changed much. I go through little stages where things get better or worse, but no real change. 

I’ve been trying my best, but I didn’t have much success this summer. I’m working on solidifying goals for the fall semester right now, so let’s see what those end up being!

I got a summer internship! And at such a wonderful time, too. Recently I had been feeling so overwhelmingly stupid, cause my grades don't seem to want to go up, and I had lost all motivation to do work. But with the conference and this internship, my passion for research is back up again, and I am so glad!

Summer is Almost Over

Hey studyblr! Summer is almost over, for me at least. 

For the last five weeks, I’ve been interning on a local politician’s campaign. It’s been a great experience and I’m learning what I do/don’t like in political science. I interviewed for another, similar role that instead of focusing on a campaign, focuses on educating voters and providing election information. In other exciting internship news, I accepted a position to intern for a judge in the spring!

However, *that* on top of my regular job, on top of my social life, on top of my mental health issues, has been a mess.

I’ve really been struggling, mentally, and it’s shown up in my life. I had to take a break from some “friends”. I’m trying to treat myself better and get back to studying. I let something stupid get in the way of my success last semester and I cannot do it again.

As for my other summer goals? Haven’t done any Spanish or ASL. I have been doing a self-care routine.

I move-in in 23 days.
