Sometimes I think about that one CSI episode where this woman convinced her teenage daughter to commit suicide so she can take her daughter's baby and raise it "properly this time."

I won't stop until everyone in the world knows who the dynamite trio are.
(but parker is definitely more hardison-romantic than bi, in my opinion.)
y'all got me watching leverage. suddenly i'm deeply invested in what goes on between parker and hardison. why did you do this to me. why did you make me cheer on the cishet autism power couple.

I don't care for romance novels.
That's not to say I don't like romance in novels. I prefer stories where adventure and mystery and secrets from the past threaten peaceful lives, and romance is simply a side effect.
Still, this looks like a good book, so fingers crossed I can finish it without falling asleep. Really, I only picked it up because it's set in Indiana, the state I grew up in. 😆

Don't tell me to smile
When you don't know why I frown.
Don't tell me I'm prettier
When it takes every single breath not to drown.
Don't tell me to smile
When I'm fighting back tears.
Don't tell me life will get better--
It hasn't been better in years.
Don't assume you know what I'm going through
When you don't bother to ask.
Don't try to cheer me up,
Because fake laughter never lasts.
I'm glad your life is happy,
Full of fun and good cheer,
But I struggle each day to breathe
And walk through them in a vale of tears.
You don't know me from Adam,
You don't know what I've been through.
I'm sure you've also had moments
When you were down and felt blue.
If I tell you what's bothering me,
You might understand--or you won't.
But don't tell me to smile more
When you don't know why I don't.

James Patterson has got to be one of my favorite authors. I started reading him when I was in middle school. Daniel X, Maximum Ride, Women's Murder Club, Alex Cross.
And still, despite how many of his books I've read, I cannot seem to read all of them. He's too prolific for a girl like me. Can't quite catch up.
Book 8 of 2024: Kill Me If You Can

the sad part is, I was never taught how to take care of myself, only other people. the fact that I'm still alive is a miracle.

Me: I get on Tumblr for the cat pics.
Therapist: why don't you just adopt a cat?
Me: because my sister's dog is scared of them! 😭😭😭😭

I live in such an in-between world, with my cochlear implants and my hearing education and my speech classes, that I sometimes forget that hearies and deaf people do not actively like each other.
I don't have a disease, I just have ears that don't work. Stop trying to make me be something I'm not. I do not exist to make you feel better about yourself.
I exist to be me.
I EXIST TO BE ME.

Me: I love to read while walking. It keeps my mind and feet busy at the same time.
Friend: Which means you're more prone to having an accident or being abducted.
Me: It'll be a good lesson for me to learn, then.
