Maybe Another Time
————
ship: Xiao x GN!Reader x Thoma | High School AU
genre: angst, hurt/no comfort (Thoma), yandere,
tw: ooc (?), unrequited love, yandere themes, nothing too crazy
scenario: you are xiao’s childhood friend, and have been with him for years. but when one of your close friends might want to be something more, who will you choose? can you even choose?
a/n: shorter than usual bc I just wanted to get smth out there. will definitely get a pt 2 if I get the time.
————
Thoma always knew you loved Xiao.
He could see it in your eyes. Whenever you looked at him, spoke to him, or even was just near him, you always had a soft smile lighting up your face. He loved that smile, because it was on you.
Too bad it wasn’t directed to him anymore.
Xiao and you were inseparable, while Thoma lingered in the background, just a side character to your love story. He wished he could be there with you, by your side like Xiao was. Oh, how it pained him to see you gaze lovingly at Xiao like that.
It was the same way Thoma looked at you.
“—hey, Thoma? Are you okay?”
Your voice snapped him out of his thoughts, and the blonde male quickly raised his gaze to meet your own. The beauty of your eyes alone made his breath catch in his throat.
Thoma then cleared his throat awkwardly, cheeks flushing slightly. “Yeah, sorry, I just got a little caught up in my thoughts.” He offered a light smile before tilting his head to the side ever so slightly. “What were you saying?”
You laughed; a euphonious sound that Thoma always enjoying hearing. It made him happy that you were happy. You continued on with a smile, “I was asking you if I should confess to Xiao tomorrow. What do you think?”
Thoma’s smile dropped.
“…I…” the male hesitated briefly, thousands of thoughts running through his mind at once. He knew what he should say, though it pained him to say it.
Why couldn’t you be with him?
Why did it have to be Xiao?
Why, why, why?
Why?
“…Yeah. You should.” He sounded like he was struggling to breathe. Thoma paused briefly, ignoring the growing ache in his chest as he contemplated. “You should plan it first, though. Maybe… confess to him in a more desolate area…?”
Or just don’t confess to him at all. That’d be great. Thoma couldn’t stop the bitter thoughts that flooded his mind as he stared at you.
The excited gleam in your eyes faltered momentarily, but you quickly covered it up with a smile, “Right… that’s a good idea.” You wrapped your arms around yourself, shyly gazing up at the blonde, “Do you think he’ll… return my feelings?”
Thoma hesitated, but reached out and cupped the left side of your face. He adored the feeling of your skin touching his. You were so soft. So sweet. So beautiful.
“How could someone not?” He murmured, “You’re perfect.”
The look in his eyes as he stared at you was pure adoration… and suddenly, Thoma didn’t want to let you go.

how thanksgiving dinner is with them
Diluc, Childe (separately) x GN!Reader
Genre: fluff? sorta?
tw: none, but there a few things I should mention. (see below)
Established relationships. Reader is suggested to be shorter than 6’1 (childe’s part). Uses Childe’s real name in some parts (Ajax). Spoilers for Diluc’s backstory.
————
Childe
•As everyone knows, there’s gonna be a couple of children at the dinner table— Tonia, Teucer and Anthon.
•You and Childe plan the dinner in advance, spending the next few days in the week buying food. After all, the kids deserve the best.
•Usually, he ends up buying something without telling you, ending up in your yearly pre-thanksgiving dinner bickering. It’s all light-hearted teasing, though.
“Ajax, no!” You exclaim, trying to snatch the container full of rainbow sprinkles out of his hand. The ginger cackles, using his height to his advantage as he held it out of your reach, “You can’t stop me!”
“Why are you like this,” you groan, watching as he sprinkled rainbow sprinkles onto the mashed potatoes.
“They’ll love it!” Ajax insists as he opens the cupboard, “Ooh, do you think I should mix in soy sauce with the gravy?”
Your eyes widened in a mixture of shock, disgust and horror. “NO!”
•Later, when Teucer is asking why there’s rainbow sprinkles on the mashed potatoes, you just shake your head slowly.
Diluc
•Hasn’t celebrated Thanksgiving since his father died.
•The first Thanksgiving the two of you spend together ends up with the kitchen nearly burning down.
“Next time, we’re not making turkey,” the redhead stated firmly as he watched you douse the flames with your Hydro Vision. Your jaw drops, and you whirl around to stare at him.
“What?! No! Turkey is the best part of Thanksgiving,” you pout, the flames behind you beginning to grow again, now that you were no longer splashing water onto them.
Diluc sighs. “Put out the fire first, and then we’ll talk.”
•When you actually manage to make the turkey properly, it’s delicious. Even the stoic redhead seems to enjoy it, based on the expression on his face.
“…It was good,” he admitted after several attempts of getting him to admit that he liked your turkey, “I liked it.”
•This was the proudest moment in your life.
“So…” you begin to follow him throughout the mansion, “We’re gonna have turkey next Thanksgiving, right?”
Diluc is silent for a long time.
“Diluc..?”
Cue another sigh. The redhead briefly glanced over at you, “Fine, but if you burn the kitchen down next year, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
•You definitely burned down the kitchen the next year.

HARD BOY.
Genre: angst, hurt/no comfort
Summary: Scaramouche regrets pushing you away when he sees that you’re no longer by his side.
tw: angsty angst <3
inspired by the song ‘Hard Boy.’ Definitely check it out ;)
Tumblr media
A certain indigo-haired individual found himself staring at the red analogue clock hung up in the classroom, watching the seconds tick by.
He didn’t know why, but he was feeling especially anxious for this specific class to end.
The bell soon rang, prompting all the students in the classroom to immediately jump up from their seats and hurriedly pack their things up before leaving the classroom.
Usually, Scaramouche would be one of these students, but today, he found himself lingering by his desk for just a second too long.
He blinked, snapping out of his daze. What am I waiting for? He wondered, Ugh, I’m out of it today.
As he walked down the hallway, he remembered why he stopped, and it embarrassed him quite greatly.
Out of pure muscle memory and instinct, he had waited for you to stop him from leaving the classroom, preparing himself for another one of your cheesy gifts and cheeky grins thrown his way. But today, there was none of that.
Why?
Thoughts began to trickle into his mind, each one making a certain sense of dread suffocate him. Why was he expecting you? Worse of all, why did he feel a little disappointed now that he realized you hadn’t stopped by his desk at all today?
He shook his head, clearing his mind of any thoughts about you. Maybe you were just busy. After all, you did have a lot of extracurriculars, and of course, friends, which you had an abundance of, unlike him.
Scaramouche calmed himself, confident that he’d see you tomorrow.
He did not see you the next day.
Or the day after that. Nor the day after that.
Slowly, days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Before he realized it, a whole three months had passed since he last saw you.
Nothing had changed in his life, really. Everything was accounted for, minus your presence. But now, he felt as though your presence was the only thing that mattered.
Every second he spent alive was spent missing your presence, missing that big beautiful smile that adorned your features whenever you approached him, showering him in gifts and compliments.
You knew exactly what he liked and disliked, and he didn’t even need to tell you. You just… knew.
You could read him like a book. One glance at him and you knew if he was sad or happy, angry or upset, disappointed or annoyed.
You had paid so much attention to him, had been so meticulous and careful and thoughtful. You were so warm and welcoming, like a ball of sunshine in his otherwise bleak and dreary life.
He wasn’t the same way.
Instead of being thankful, he had pushed you away with cold glares and harsh words that would’ve caused any other to crack. Not you. You endured months of his insults and behavior and just him in general.
But he should’ve known that someone like you was desired. He deserved it, really. He was the one that had pushed you away, he was the one that ruined his chances with you.
So if he knew this, why did it hurt so much to see you not by his side, but by another’s?
Scaramouche had taken you for granted, and he realized that now, seeing you smile at that other person the same way you used to smile at him.

𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐔𝐓 — 𝐂𝐇 𝟐
chapter 2 — stranded.
“Where did Childe go?” You hissed to the brothers as you weaved you way through the tavern, the sea of heads bobbing up and down as you pushed passed people, murmuring a thousand excuse me’s.
“Oh! Y/N, hey!” A familiar voice called out to you, causing your eyes to light up with recognition. “Childe, what were you d—“ you cut yourself off when you noticed the person standing besides the ginger.
Is that the Anemo Archon??
“I met this guy a few minutes ago,” Childe laughed, “His name’s Venti.”
Venti glanced over at you, eyes meeting yours before he pressed a finger to his lips, silently asking you to not say anything about his true identity.
You were fine with that, of course. You weren’t too surprised that Venti was in a bar— after all, he was a bit of a drunkard— but what was surprising as the fact that he looked so chill next to a member of the Fatui.
Didn’t he have his gnosis stolen by one of them? Or was he just not aware that Childe was apart of the Fatui?
“Diluc! Kaeya!” The anemo user greeted the two brothers cheerfully before turning to you, “Oh, and who do we have here? Y/N, right?”
You nodded, smiling, “That would be me.”
Diluc eyed the pile of empty beer bottles laying on the table, injecting himself into the conversation, “Venti, I hope you’re going to pay for those.”
The Anemo Archon paused what he was doing, letting out a sheepish laugh, “Ehe… well, I may or may not have forgotten to bring mora with me today…”
The ginger patted Venti’s back comfortingly, “No worries, I can lay for you!” He dug out a handful of mora from his pocket, throwing it at the redhead, “Here you go.”
Kaeya reached out and snatched the mora away from the redhead midair. “Ah, thank you, Childe,” the blue-haired male hummed. Diluc looked like he was on the verge of rolling his eyes, reluctantly leaving the mora in his brother’s grasp.
The sound of clambering coming from the Player’s world caught your attention, prompting you to glance over at the screen which showed their dimension.
”Alright, that’s enough,” Diluc sighed, “Hurry up, we have to go. The Player could come back online any second now.”
You and Childe reluctantly parted from the Anemo Archon, you hid you a quick farewell before going back to his drinks.
You could see why La Signora called him a rat.
—but of course, you weren’t going to say anything about that aloud! Wouldn’t want to get smitten, now do you?
The Player soon returned to you, Childe, Diluc and Kaeya waiting (im)patiently under Windrise, but their main focus wasn’t the gain, but rather a friend they were chatting amiably to.
The Player opened up the party screen, showing off the characters to their friend. They didn’t seem to know much about the game, but they certainly seemed intrigued.
“—and this is Y/N, the newest five star. She’s on the banner right now,” the Player said, gesturing to your character.
“Ooh! Y/n looks awesome,” they said, eyes bright with awe, “You said five star characters were the rarest, right?”
The Player nodded, “Yeah, I saved up for a while to be able to get her the second they came out.”
They then teleported to a statue in Inazuma, did a little exploring— you loved it, because it was always nice to explore an unfamiliar region, especially one as exotic as Inazuma— and then logged off.
“I’m done with my leylines,” the Player hummed, “Wanna watch a movie, now?” Their friend nodded earnestly, and so the Player turned their PC off.
Well, that was definitely tiring, but the main problem was that the Player had run out of food and had forgotten to get more before logging off, so you were starved.
To make things worse, the Player then logged off on what was basically the worst place possible— in Inazuma, on one of the smaller islands. In other words, you were stranded in the middle of the ocean, with no way to get off.
That wasn’t your biggest concern, though. You were still hung up on the fact that the guys somehow weren’t tired.
“How are you guys still not tired?” You asked, voice tinged with disbelief, “This is unfair.”
The redhead standing a few feet away from you merely shrugged his shoulders, “You get used to it. You’re new to this all, so it might take a little while for you to adjust, but you’ll get used to it fairly quickly.”
Childe, meanwhile, patted your head comfortingly. “Basically what the angry red dude said, Y/N,” he hummed, ignoring the death glares being shot by said angry red dude, “C’mon, let’s explore the island!”
You followed after Childe, albeit reluctantly, a little afraid to leave the two brothers alone. The ginger reassured you that nothing bad would happen, though, because they wouldn’t kill each other during a situation like this.
“Oh, looks like there’s a cave,” he observed before dashing towards a steep slope disappearing into a cave, the area dark and devoid of light. “Ugh, I can’t see anything, though.”
“Try not to stick your head into random caves,” you suggested, hurrying over to him, “A bear might jump out and bite your head off.”
The male raised an eyebrow. “I think that’d be a great situation, actually. Not the last part, of course, but a bear jumping out at me?” He snapped his fingers, “Boom, dinner right there. Get the angry red man to roast it for us, and ta-da! Food.”
You snorted softly, “He has a name, you know.”
Childe gave you a look. “No, I don’t know.”
You blinked, a realization dawning on you. “Oh. Oh, I’m stupid.” You shake your head in disbelief, “I believe I didn’t tell you their names.”
You cleared your throat, “Well, uh, the redhead is Diluc, and the blue-haired one is Kaeya. You might’ve heard of them before; they’re fairly well-known names.”
“Ah.” His eyes lit up with recognition, “Ooh, the wine guy and the Calvary Captain for the Knights of Favonius, eh?” He paused very briefly, “Meh, still gonna call him angry red man. It has a certain charm to it, doesn’t it?” He grinned.
“Don’t blame me if you get scorched,” you warn.
“I have a hydro vision, Y/N,” he pointed out.
“Still, that’s no reason to underestimate him.” Your mind flickered to the Darknight hero quest. “He’s stronger than he seems.”
“Uh huh, okay.” He smirked, “I’ll just take this as you worrying about me instead of you talking about how strong he is and how he’s gonna beat me up.”
He took a few steps away from the cave, “C’mon, gets go back to the two of them. I’ve seen enough.” He began to walk away, back towards the brothers, and you hurried after him, closely behind.
“Pretty sure you’ve seen less than one-tenth of this island,” you say once you manage to catch up to the ginger.
Childe stopped in his tracks. “You want to keep on exploring?” He asked, quirking a brow. You quickly shook your head, causing the male to grin cheekily. “That’s what I thought.”
The two of you made your way back to the brothers, and the first thing you see is that the grass surrounding them was completely gone, and Diluc was soaking wet. Actually, both of them were drenched from head to toe.
“…What the hell happened here?” You asked, beginning to panic, “You didn’t fight, did you—?!”
Kaeya offered you a shockingly calm smile, considering the situation. “No, we merely got into a minor… tussle,” he said, lips twitching upwards as he spoke, “No need to worry about me, Y/N.”
Well, technically, I was worrying about both of you, but okay. Ain’t gonna deny that.
Childe, meanwhile, was looking around the area. “I wonder if there are any animals on this island,” he murmured, “It’s strangely devoid of wildlife out here.”
You snapped out of your gaze, eyes flickering over to the ginger, “Are you sure you’re not just looking for an excuse to kill something?” You joked lightheartedly.
Diluc frowned, “Speaking of killing things, you bring up a good point, Y/N. I hope the Player isn’t gone for too long, else we may starve to death here.”
“I could always freeze the water,” Kaeya offered, “But sadly—“ you could hear the sarcasm dripping from his voice— “my dear brother can’t come. The last time I tried to do that with him, he melted all of the ice I worked so hard to freeze.”
Childe and you exchanged a few glances. “What’s up with them?” He snorted, “What do they got against each other?”
“A lot of things,” you muttered, “Don’t ask. It’s… a long story.”
“Oh, so it’s one of those backstories,” he sighed, “I guess I should go hunt now, huh? Else… we probably will starve.”
You summoned your weapon, blue particles dancing around it’s hilt before disappearing within a matter of seconds, “I’ll come with you.” You smiled, “Two heads are better than one, after all.”
Childe nodded, “True. Just…” he leaned a little closer to you, causing your breath to involuntarily catch, “…don’t try to steal my prey.”
He flicked your forehead with his finger before pulling away with a cheeky grin playing on his lips, causing you to groan aloud.
“Now I’m going to specifically target everything you’re going for,” you muttered under your breath, simultaneously massaging your forehead.
The ginger laughed, “You can try.”

𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐔𝐓 — 𝐂𝐇 𝟏
chapter 1 — strained relationships.
[fic info here]
Tumblr media
You watched with bright, hopeful eyes as the Player began to choose their party members. When it came to the second slot, their brows furrowed in contemplation briefly before they selected you.
You let out a joyful exclamation, pleased that you were going to be used.
You must’ve been blessed with an extraordinary Player— you had only released five minutes ago and they had already managed to obtain you, a five star character! It was praiseworthy.
“Ah? You must be Y/N?” A cool, masculine voice called out to you, causing you to glance to your right, eyes landing on a certain blue-haired male.
Your eyes lit up with recognition— you had heard a lot about him. Wasn’t he the Calvary Captain of the Knights of Favonius? What was his name, again? Kayden… Karen… Kai… oh, Kaeya—! That’s his name.
You beamed, nodding, “Yep, that’s me! And you must be the famous Kaeya. It’s wonderful to meet you,” you say.
The blue-haired male chuckled, seeming to be amused by your choice of words. “Famous? I’m not so sure about that,” he remarked. You opened your mouth to reply, only for a voice to interrupt you.
“I agree. He’s more infamous for seducing the hardworking citizens of Mondstadt.”
You glanced to your right to see a red-haired male glaring daggers at Kaeya, arms folded across his chest. Oh, another person you recognized! Your Player really was impressive.
“Me?” Kaeya arched a brow, “I’m not sure about that. How about you, my dear brother? Somehow, you managed to get Donna to fall for both of your identities. Now isn’t that a feat?”
The pyro user narrowed his eyes at his brother. “I believe in numbers, Kaeya, and I think you have quite the record.”
Upon seeing the rising tension between the two brothers, you quickly interjected, not wanting a fight to start up, especially since you were sandwiched right in the middle of them both. Ugh, your ears wouldn’t be able to take it.
You leaned a little closer to Diluc, giving him a quick wave paired with a cheeky smile, “Hi there,” you chirp, “You must be Diluc! I’m Y/N, the newest playable character.”
Diluc finally noticed you, blinking once before returning your greeting. “I apologize for that,” he murmured, “That must’ve not been a very good first impression of me.”
You merely smiled, “Oh, no worries, I understand. Siblings can be quite infuriating something,” you laughed.
Just as those words left your lips, another character was added into the party, taking up the last slot. Your eyes widened upon seeing who it was.
“Childe!” You exclaimed gleefully the same time Diluc exclaimed, “The Fatui?!”
You stopped, happy expression faltering as you glanced over at Diluc, who looked at you with a shocked expression on his face. You knew exactly what he was thinking— you know this guy?
“Oh— oh, don’t worry, he’s trustworthy,” you say quickly. Well, not really, but he wouldn’t kill you… probably.
Being stuck in the development stages for months gave you quite a lot of time to observe characters, and you knew that Childe wasn’t heartless. Terrifying at times, yes, but not heartless. His love for his family really showed that.
The ginger returned your grin with one of his own, not fazed in the slightest by a new face.
“Hey there!” He greeted, beaming, “Y/N L/N, right? I’ve heard plenty about you, and it seems like you’ve heard a lot about me, too.”
You nodded rapidly, “Well, yeah!” Your smile turned into a bit of a smirk, “You’re Zhongli’s sugar daddy.”
Silence.
Then, Childe burst out in laughter, doubling over. “I-is that what they’re calling me, now?” He snorted, “Y’know, you’d think that with my three names, they’d settle for at least one of them, but no.”
You quickly glanced over at both of the males standing next to you. Kaeya looked mildly amused while Diluc… not so much. You could practically hear the gears turning in his head as he pieced things together.
You then glanced back at Childe, “Well, I mean— it’s not necessarily a bad nickname?? I mean, you’re getting more attention.”
The ginger nodded, “True, true. I guess you can’t ask for much else, huh?” He wiped a tear away, “Well, it’s great to meet you, Y/N.” His eyes glimmered with mirth, “I have a feeling we’ll get along excellently.”
Did Childe just say that to me?! Your mind screamed, I just got acquainted with someone rich as hell!
Technically, he was a criminal, too, but we weren’t going to talk about that.
You swallowed down the urge to jump around and cheer, thinking up something to say to hopefully continue the conversation. The Player, however, then opened up the character screen, switching to your character, and began to level you up.
Once you were up to level eighty, the Player exited the screen and began to grind a certain domain over and over again, seeming to be trying to get a certain artifact. This was what you did for the next week or two, over and over again.
You understood the pain of being a main, now.
Of course, it was enjoyable, but was definitely tiring. You notified that every time you did a domain, by the end of it, you were completely out of breath, while the three males seemed completely fine.
Luckily, on the fifteenth day, the Player finally managed to get the artifact set they were grinding for. Any longer and you swore your soul would’ve left your body.
They then teleported to a statue— the one near the big tree in Mondstadt— and logged off.
“Whoa!” Childe exclaimed, “It is windy here—!”
“That’s why it’s called Windrise,” you shout at him, hoping he could hear you over the whipping winds, which seemed to be strangely violent today, “And Mondstadt is under the control of the Anemo Archon— what did you expect?”
“True,” he admitted, “Can we get out of here, though? Going to Angel’s Share would be much better than sitting here for the next few days, straining our voice.”
Kaeya jumped on the opportunity, “I agree, don’t you think so, brother?”
The redhead glared at the cryo user before eventually caving when you pointed out that he had been away from work for a whole two weeks. Yep, you knew his weak spot— he was a workaholic.
Soon enough, the four of you were in the tavern— Diluc behind the counter, Kaeya and you sitting at the bar, and Childe… somewhere, probably blackmailing someone.
“Ah, this is much better,” the cryo user hummed, twirling a glass full of wine with his nimble fingers, “It’s been a while since I’ve had a glass of wine.”
You sipped at your own drink, “Really? I’m surprised.”
“Hm?” The blue-haired male raised an eyebrow, “How come?”
“Wine is your favorite drink,” you reply, “And from what I’ve heard, you indulge yourself in it often.”
Kaeya chuckled briefly. “Whoever is telling you this is making me sound like an alcoholic.”
You laughed along with him, “But isn’t that what you are?” You joked.
“What? Of course not,” he said, feigning an overly dramatic innocent expression before immediately dropping it, “You’re beginning to sound like Diluc, you know.”
You paused very briefly, unsure of how to reposed to that. Was that good or bad? You knew that his relationship with the redhead was very strained, and so the last thing you wanted to do was to accidentally strike a nerve.
Kaeya seemed to understand what you were thinking, because he smiled and added, “I’m joking. You looked so serious just now,” he chuckled.
You blinked, snapping out of your thoughts, “I… did?”
The blue-haired male nodded. “Mhm hm. I didn’t even know you could make that expression.”
Heat rushed to your cheeks in embarrassment, “Oh, well, uh—“ you were cut off by Diluc’s voice, causing you to glance over at the redhead.
“We should get going now,” he advised, “The Player said they were only taking a short break.”
You nodded, getting up, “Alright.” You glanced around the tavern before your lips dropped into a frown, face visibly paling, “Hey, uh… where’s Childe?”
