Also: despite being starkly unflinching in portraying the characters' flaws, and how they hurt each other, it's ultimately compassionate and there are enough moments of lightness, humour, and kindness that I didn't find it too much despite the sometimes very dark topics and dynamics. And the cast isn't just queer but largely trans, this is one of the few stories I've read which feels like it's coming from a trans perspective but doesn't feel the need to soften how shitty trans people can be (because we're people, and people are often shitty) for the sake of Good Representation.
Not to make it sound too naturalistic, the vibe is more like... Homestuck or Fandom_Wank.
(I'm pretty behind, because I kept forgetting who everyone was between updates. The simplistic cutesy art works really well for this kind of story, and I love the non-linear depiction of an ensemble cast of people whose presentations and sometimes names have changed over time, but it can be a tad confusing)

From kentsarrow: #it should be akin to doing your most enjoyable hobby
Yes! It's hard like playing a fun but challenging co-op video game is hard, where even when you hit challenges you go WOO WE GOT THROUGH IT TOGETHER!! afterwards and the overall experience is positive. If it starts feeling like unfun stress where you have to work around your partner instead of with them, something's gone wrong.
‘relationships are work’ means ‘you have to put effort into loving each other intentionally & learning how to love each other and communicating properly’ not ‘your relationship makes you feel stressed and sad most of the time & the other person disrespects you and treats you bad but you stay anyway’

I would like to note that contrary to popular belief, tuxedo cats are not little businessmen!
tuxedo is formal party attire, if you wore one at a business function, you would be inappropriately dressed!
tuxedo cats are, instead, lil fancy guys, darling socialites, even

"ummm you know the writer only included that because they have a FETISH right?" is always so funny to me as a disparaging comment, because imagine if people spoke that way about nonsexual interests. "the lord of the rings? didnt the author only write that because he was interested in linguistics? thanks, i'll pass" "yeah, i used to love spongebob as a kid, but i can never see it the same after finding out stephen hillenburg is a marine biologist :/"

Added context: The binturong is a huge black fuzzy mammal which is like 1.5 metres long, half of which is a thick tail. It has white whiskers and little stubby clawed legs. The speaker remains cheerful as the binturong climbs all over him, looking around and sniffing, and sometimes flops calmly into his arms.
it is once again... binturong appreciation hour

ID: Screenshot of #I picked the only one that I'm pretty sure is in Australia
Saw this post, thought "Lol I bet none of the Americans even know", and opened it in a tab assuming correctly that by the time I got back to the tab the poll would be over.
And then I saw several other polls for other countries and was reminded that I have no idea what the capitals are of basically any countries other than my own. So, good job tumblr, sure only a minority of you know what our capital is but it is at least the largest minority. And if I wasn't Australian I probably wouldn't know either.
ok I’m trying to see something here

I regret to inform you that Discord's new Terms of Service includes an arbitration clause. You can find it here https://discord.com/terms/#16. This clause includes an opt-out, which I have transcribed here:
You can decline this agreement to arbitrate by emailing an opt-out notice to [email protected] within 30 days of April 15, 2024 or when you first register your Discord account, whichever is later; otherwise, you shall be bound to arbitrate disputes in accordance with the terms of these paragraphs. If you opt out of these arbitration provisions, Discord also will not be bound by them.
These clauses are underhanded ways that corporations seek to deprive you of your right to participate in class-action lawsuits and your right to a jury trial. (This does only apply to us users ,other people still spread the word though )

This got me thinking about all the traits I was made to feel unfeminine for having when I identified as a cis woman, yet which I never see afab trans people celebrating in non-binary or transmasc spaces: body hair, patchy facial hair, monobrow, signs of aging, bad skin and nails, using mobility devices, protruding stomach, big nose, thin lips, etc. And yeah, the fat-hate is ridiculous.
And for other people: Dark skin and other POC-associated traits are seen as unfeminine yet somehow the Masculine and Androgynous Ideals are pale and white. I'm less familiar with amab trans people's experiences but I'm sure there's a LOT of equivalent examples, and I've certainly noticed how what would would be seen as a medium or even slight build for a cis man is seen as Still Too Large And Thus Fat for trans women.
After starting to identify as non-binary I wondered if no longer removing my natural patchy facial hair would be an enjoyably androgynous middle ground between feminine-coded-smooth and male-coded-beard, but NOPE, I just felt like people would see an ugly middle aged woman too lazy to take care of her appearance. Somehow it felt less androgynous or masculine AND less feminine.
interesting how transmascs & transfems alike think losing weight is the answer to pass as our chosen gender.... almost as if fat people are never Truly afforded a passing gender regardless of trans status. as fat people we are never Truly seen as Men or Women. anyway fuck that notion & if u think u need to lose weight to pass that's the devil talking

btw! I was made aware that many people don't know that we're boycotting Eurovision this year, so.
we are boycotting Eurovision, as per BDS guidelines.
don't watch the stream, don't engage with the videos, don't post it about it on social media using hashtags that are going to trend.

I'm genderfluid so... yeah. I sometimes think about what that journey would have been like, though then I get distracted pouring out a drink for amab!me's Constant Struggle With Body Hair. At least they'd probably be a more conveniently androgynous height.
Also, just... imagining my platonic and romantic relationships with women in the 90s as a Nice If Awkward Soft Nerd Boy. The weirdly homoerotic friendships with other nerd boys. Writing earnest blog posts about how ALL men should try wearing dresses it doesn't have to be a Thing. GOD.
(also idk how this poll would feel to read if you were intersex)
other as in other than your agab, not other than your gender. so for eg a cis woman reading this the question is if you were amab would you be a trans woman do you think

ID: An animation of a translucent spinning earth. The core is about half the diameter of the whole Earth, and the two huge lumpy blobs sticking out of it reach more than half the distance between the core and the surface.
Scientists proposed a novel idea on Wednesday that could solve two of the world's mysteries at once—one that passes over our heads every night, and one that sits far below our feet. The first mystery has puzzled everyone from scientists to inquisitive children for millennia: where did the moon come from? The leading theory is that the moon was created 4.5 billion years ago when a would-be planet the size of Mars smashed into the still-forming Earth. This epic collision between early Earth and the proto-planet called Theia shot an enormous amount of debris into orbit, which formed what would become the moon. Or so the theory goes. Despite decades of effort, scientists have not been able to find any evidence of Theia's existence. New US-led research, published in the journal Nature, suggests they might have been looking in the wrong direction. Around 2,900 kilometers (1,800 miles) below Earth's surface, two massive "blobs" have baffled geologists since seismic waves revealed their existence in the 1980s.
