Hey, idk if you've already found this. But I thought it would be nice to share this with you.

I think when Min Jungho became a guardian of Gaon, he didn't have any intentions of using him or any relations with Jung sunah at that time because when Gaon was 16, Isaac was also alive. The church fire happened three years later after Gaon's parents death. So I think Min Jungho really cared for Gaon in the first years. I saw the bike smashing scene when Gaon was a high school student in ep 5 and Min jungho was angry and disappointed. Just like a parent act when they get called to their children's school for not so good reasons. So I don't really think Jung sunah and Min Jungho did met each other at that time. Plus Jung sunah must have been trying so hard to gain power too. I don't think she had any power or money at that time. I think they met after the church fire (I wish we had more information about how they met)

So what I want share is, Min Jungho cared for Gaon genuinely but later when he met sunah, that was changed. (Not at once but I guess through the years and Jung sunah is manipulative and sly) I'm also very curious if he really knew that it wasn't the real Doh Youngchun in the jail right at that time or did he found out that later and decided to hide it from Gaon?I'm just so curious. It's been almost a year and I still can't forget this drama 🤧

According to the scriptbook, gaon met min jungho after his parents death as someone who helps troubled youth. So I really don’t think he ever had any intention of using gaon. I think the professor got into his judicial position long after he’d known gaon, so there was never any tempt to try and stop anyone and the only reason gaon was chosen is because he looks like Isaac. So that only came much later. There is a scene in the show that show sunah at gaon’s graduation of law school or presentation to becoming a judge – so im not sure if she was there to see if she could manipulate upcoming judge’s or if gaon caught her eye beforehand. It seems she hadn’t seen gaon before his ceremony, and then used that as a way to get in with min jungho. At that point, he was already in his law career, which was the perfect opportunity for sunah.

All of this to say, I think gaon’s manipulation started the day he graduated. There’s no way the professor knew about Isaac. Maybe he knew of Yohan, but without sunah, who knows if he truly believed Yohan to be an actual threat.

If we go by the scriptbook date of when gaon and the professor met, they would’ve known each other for about 11-12 years by the time the devil judge’s story starts. We don’t know how long it takes for someone to graduate and get a position (it doesn’t seem gaon got his role via the professor straight out of school), so I’d assume his graduation was at least 6 months - 3 years prior. At that point, sunah had time to feed min jungho things about Yohan. The two of them most likely watched yohan’s rise to power, with sunah continuously telling min jungho that they had to do something about it. And only when Yohan positioned himself to be a central figure did sunah most likely urge min jungho to bring gaon for the live court. There had to be a time when sunah wasn’t sure what she would do with gaon until the live court came to fruition. It wouldn’t surprise me if sunah and min jungho met for the first time at gaon’s graduation, too. at the very least, they might’ve heard of each other being in the same circles but didn’t really talk.

That said, min jungho and gaon’s flashbacks do show the relationship they had as parent-child. I do think he wanted the best for gaon, and it’s clear in his own fucked up mind he still wanted the best for gaon but on his own terms and conditions. I don’t think he saw gaon as being a sacrificial lamb necessarily because I don’t think he ever guessed that gaon would sway from what he’d always been led to believe. I think he truly thought he had gaon by the scruff of his neck, but it’s ironic because min junho is the one who tried to tame gaon, and look at how that backfired.

Whether he also knew about doh youngchun – I would say no. in ep 16 when he answers to sunah, he comes off as a lap dog that takes orders (also like the scene where he goes to sunah about soohyun’s death), which means sunah and anyone else talking to him would most likely keep him out of the loop and only provide the necessary info needed to manipulate him. it’s why he didn’t know about soohyun’s death being planned.

There’s still so much detail that didn’t get explored. Questions I think only those of us who are obsessed with the show come up with. I really wish there was a guide or something because im just like you. Still in love with the devil judge. <3

I tried to make it progress from Richard judging more harshly to being more understanding. Commentary below the cut! CW for some discussion of OD and suicide, motor accidents, WW2 resistance and concentration camps, and the Troubles.

It's an older man giving unheeded advice to a younger man (Yusuf has said it's about the Russian revolution, so bring in some of Richard's feelings about Francis being involved in the USSR if you like). It's not time to make a change (Away, away, away) Just sit down, take it slowly You're still young, that's your fault (I know) There's so much you have to go through (I have to make this decision) Find a girl, settle down (Alone) If you want you can marry Look at me (No) I am old, but I'm happy 5) War - Me and Baby Brother Older brother worrying about younger brother who used to be on his side, but seems to have gotten involved in trouble (jail?). Shiftin' on his mind / Is like drinking funky wine / By the river / Chippin' on his mind / Is like drinking funky wine / By the river 6) Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer I think this may just be a song I apply to a lot of my blorbos, but it really did give me Francis feels off the scale. Anyway I want Richard to hear this on the radio after he's punched Francis in RC and to FEEL BAD. In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade / And he carries the reminders / Of every glove that laid him down or cut him / 'Til he cried out in his anger and his shame / "I am leaving, I am leaving", but the fighter still remains 7) The Clash - Death or Glory An older man again looking back at what he considers the folly of youth, bitter about the industry and the way it markets people and encourages fatalistic behaviour: In every gimmick hungry yob diggin' gold from rock 'n' roll / Grabs the mic and tell us he'll die before he's sold / But I believe in this and it's been tested by research / He who fucks nuns will later join the church / Death or glory becomes just another story... 8) U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday Genuinely annoyed by how GOOD this is, I've spent my life hating U2 lads, what to do, what to do! Anyway, Richard likes it because it's an Irish voice calling for peace and moderation in the context of the Troubles (yes, he's side-eyeing Francis and those old rumours). He's not above seeing its applicability to his own family, either: And the battle's just begun / There's many lost, but tell me, who has won? / The trench is dug within our hearts / And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart... 9) The Proclaimers - What Do You Do BIG Richard album this one, largely for him and Mariotta, but this one's for his political side and probably for straw man arguments he has in his head with Francis, assuming Francis would rather go for direct action than democracy: What do you do / When democracy fails you / What do you do / When the rest can't see its true? / Pat votes the Scots way / Just like her mother / But South always takes all / Just like her brother... 10) Bruce Springsteen - Highway Patrolman Brothers sticking by brothers despite one being a cop and the other committing a crime. :') Recognising that his brother Frankie has maybe been a bit messed up by his experiences and finding he doesn't have it in him to be the arbiter of justice: Me and Frankie laughing and drinking / Nothing feels better than blood on blood / Taking turns dancing with Maria / As the band played "Night of the Johnstown Flood" / I catch him when he's straying / Like any brother would / A man turns his back on his family / Well, he just ain't no good. 11) David Bowie - Space Oddity Richard's memories of watching the moon landing with his siblings, the fact it's impossible not to associate his brother with Bowie (his idol), and watching him soar away while knowing there's nothing much Richard can do for him anymore... This is Ground Control to Major Tom / You've really made the grade / And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear / Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare / This is Major Tom to Ground Control / I'm stepping through the door / And I'm floating in a most peculiar way / And the stars look very different today... 12) Fairport Convention - Percy's Song Dylan but better because it's not Dylan take one: this is a much-covered song about a man jailed for life for being at the wheel during a road accident that killed four people. I think even in CM Richard's view of Francis' 'crimes' is tempered by the idea that family should get to judge him first and foremost. And the moral tangle of this one - there's a sentence to be served, but not like that, not that long! - is something I think would get to Richard, despite his worst assumptions. But, I knew him as good as I'm knowing myself / Turn, turn, turn again / And he wouldn't harm a life that belonged to someone else / Turn, turn to the rain and the wind... 13) Joan Baez - The Altar Boy and the Thief Ah yes, now we're really getting into later CM where Richard is worried and sad rather than just overtly judgey and angry. He's trying to understand Francis, and probably starting to see (through the Tories campaigning for Section 28) that a lot of the public charges levelled against Francis come from a place of bigotry and hate, not justice. Richard is probably not sure of band AU Francis’ actual sexuality (bi) until right at the end, either. At night in the safety of shadows and numbers Seeking some turf on which nothing encumbers The buying and selling of casual looks Stuff that gets printed in x-rated books Your mother might have tried to understand When you were hardly your daddy's little man And you gave up saluting the chief To find yourself some relief

Finely plucked eyebrows and skin of satin Smiling seductive and endlessly Latin Olympic body on dancing feet Perfume thickening the air like heat A transient star of gay bar fame You quit your job and changed your name And you're nearly beyond belief As you hunt down a little relief 14)  Christine Sevres - Robert le Diable The song is titled after a medieval epic poem in which a woman who can't conceive with her husband and whom god won't help has sex with the devil instead, and the son is the cursed Robert le Diable - he's accomplished but clearly a wrong'un until he discovers religious asceticism, and lives as a dog/madman in the Holy Roman Emperor's household. He eventually goes to war against the heathen for the princess (iirc), gets stabbed in the junk and is sanctified (iirc??). The song isn't about him though! The song is actually a poem by Louis Aragon about his fellow poet Robert Desnos. Desnos was a surrealist and a member of the resistance in WW2, and he was captured and imprisoned in concentration camps, where he died of typhoid. People told stories of his whimsy and imagination saving lives - in the AU he's a link to the Crawfords' French background and to Sybilla and FRC's time in the resistance. My self ship with shang in a nutshell

In my au. Shang after a certain amount of times he got his ass kicked by liu kang (my hc verse the whole thing in aftetmath did happen but things got "reset" and everyone sorta lived but don't remember shit cept in vague dreams n visions well the gods do at least. Therefore i can keep some things while rearranging the furniture so to speak. The crown is rewritten as an elder god artifact and shang only added to it not created it. And kronika gets killed off waaaaay before any of that shit. And is rewritten to be an elder god of time(of future) and geras(of past) because f that stupid titans bullshit. Cetrion is rewritten to be a main antagonist and more important. And basically I'm making this way better than canons shitshow of a so called "plot" ). He got sent to gay baby jail . And now is fighting for his freedom. Many years go by. Every 10yrs or so he can challenge for his freedom. In a minor tournament of mortal kombat. No fatalities,no powers,only fists. Basically a normal martial tournament however fatalities are not required,only suggested. However you still only get 3 mercys/friendships/sparings. Because rule of 3. Anyways. Basically shang is lonely,desperate and tired.

So....here comes me. Washed up randomly on his beach. (I haven't come up with any true background before yet. So go easy on me.) And shang's like owo whats dis?! Because look this binch aint got none in how long? And also is hella desperate to get free like i said. Theres more to it but I'll leave it at that for now.

At first he's like

Cute ol man. Look don't judge me. Old man shang is hella cute too. Like i love all shang tsung ok? Im a shang tsimp.

And then somehow,some way anyway. Entered into a minor tournament. Either snuck in or he gave in. Either way.

Shang isn't happy. But he allows it,under close supervision.

But somehow. By a miracle. I win

This pleases shang. Now he has his freedom. Lucky for them thats all he got. And nobody truly died. But shang is now a free dude. And no longer bound to his island.

But of course shit dont stay so sweet because its mortal fuckin kombat.

This asshole gets resurrected somehow,and kidnaps me because reasons.

Bald ahh binch.

Shang isn't happy

But it's ok because he saves me. And that's when things get super serious for me n shang. And he of course gains his youth and vitality more back(which would be jarring for me ngl but its all good). And of course after that close call he trains me slightly in magic,only enough for defense of course. Nothing major. As he doesn't want me to not only surpass him.(its shang ok you knew this was gonna be a problem) but also because he wants me to not end up like him. The one pure soul he cares for. That and some dope ass magic armor.

And after that pretty much we live on the island for the most part in peace.

Minus the occasional outside problem or two

(Srry for the mk legends shang tsung spam tho. Because bruuuuuh. He is hella cool in that movie. Nothing beats tagawa,he's the og after all. But mk legends BOTR and SR shang tsung is dope af design. The voice is ok. I always imagined shang to have a lower set voice tho. Mellow and snakey and almost hypnotic. Like fr. Smooth like butter. Because how else can someone so notoriously snake tongued be not having a voice that sound delicious? And also knows Exactly how to treat someone? Or exactly what to say or comfort. Like fr. This is basic 101. (I do believe shang tsung can love deeply. And genuinely. Its just been a hot ass minute since that and he dont trust easy due to a lot of factors but a majority of that is when he was in service under shao Khan)

Bart's in Jail Season 33, Episode 2 | October 3, 2021

Hey! SURPRISE! I am back, sporadically, to review episodes of The Simpsons from season 33. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to watch these as they aired, so I gave up and decided to wait for Disney+ to get them. A billion other things happened in the meantime, so lets get down to it, I GUESS:

This is a pretty simple episode, and it doesn’t really reach a satisfying conclusion, but that’s okay, I guess, because I laughed at it twice. All those laughs happened during the first act. 

Abe gets his social security check and is immediately scammed by a telemarketer who convinces him that Bart is in jail and needs bail money to get out. Homer, mostly acting selfishly because the money in question was to be his only inheritance from Abe (10 thousand bucks which is his winnings from games of chance he funds with said social security money), decides to go on a crusade to take this boiler room operation down. They do, sorta, but all they get out of the deal are gift cards (which the phone operators get paid in) for chain restaurants. 

The emotional core of the episode is mostly on Marge’s faith in humanity; she grapples with the fact that the Simpsons raiding the call center of it’s gift cards is in itself not justice but yet another scam. This development is fairly late in the episode, so it’s sorta safe to call this “tacked on”. Honestly, it’s another fairly bland episode of the show where they simply decided to pivot and go for a heart-stringy moment. It ends with Marge taking a leap of faith in a woman asking for cash at the gas station by giving her 20 bucks and her address, the woman promising she’ll pay Marge back. Surprise: she actually does get the money back. Double surprise: it was GRANDPA who forged the note and gave her 20 dollars of his own money so Marge wouldn’t lose faith in humanity. Okay. 

There are a few notable bits in this one. The episode actually starts out with a flashback to Abe and his friends as young men, working in a Meatball factory. This is where they learn the concept of social security, and we get some previously untold backstory to Grandpa’s youth. I have not kept up with the show at all this season but from what I read the show seems to be trying to unburden itself with the concept of canon. Make Grandpa a factory worker at a Meatball plant because it’s funny. It doesn’t have to jive with other Grandpa backstories. OR: he just had a lot of jobs but no real career to speak of, which also makes sense. Homer refers to Abe as a former “Meatball man” in the episode as though that’s always been his main gig, which is fine by me. 

Gags I liked: Homer imagines a life with $10,000 more and he looks at his toaster and imagines owning one just like it, but with 10 slots instead of two. That’s good. 

Another gag I laughed at was Principal Skinner explaining that his mother fell prey to a similar scam when someone called her pretending to be “punk rockers”, threatening to cut Seymour’s hair into a mohawk. Also very funny.

Two cameos: Grandpa’s is seen dozing off with a magazine that I forget what the title is, but it’s a reference to the Fuxley Archives, who are on facebook and do great hilarious work. The fella’s name is Chris Shapan and I know he’s worked on Tom Goes to the Mayor from covering it on my Adult Swim 2021 blog. 

The other cameo is Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls, who is among a rogues gallery of false idols. He’s played by what’s his name. The guy who voices him. Like, the real guy. I don’t feel like looking it up. He’s there! He’s real! He’s a real guy and I am going to start being scared of him!

TV Tropes said that The Simpsons was edited out on The Tracey Ullman Show when it came to the UK because of they lead into advert breaks which BBC never has advert breaks it is the first UK Channel from 1960 and started on radio in 1936. It is the reason why in UK we pay for television license.

Blimey! I did not know that about the Tracey Ullman Show but it makes sense. You’d think the BBC would just put a picture of the Queen smiling nicely where the commercials would go, but I guess not, I guess they killed her instead.

ROBINSON DECLARES THEY ARE NEEDED AT PEN ---- Says He Was Prevented From Entering Court Room - Religious Instruction inadequate. ---- Declaring that an effort has been made to prevent his entering the county court room st, the June trials and that there was need for an investigation by a disinterested commission at the Portsmouth Penitentiary, Rev. Frederic G. Robinson, pastor of Princess street Methodist church dealt with a public topic of much moment in a very frank manner in on Sunday night last.

Said Mr. Robinson in part:

"Two or three weeks ago I attended the court house in order that I might listen to the trial of three convicts who were charged with breaking out of the penitentiary, so I might study their features and know a little more about them. The result has been that I have a more intense desire to preach the Gospel of Jesus and help those who have fallen.

REFUSED ADMISSION TO COURT ROOM. "Before I pass on I want to say that I do not know what impressions many of the people of Kingston have for in reference to the duties of a minister of Christ, as to where be should go and should not go in the prosecution of his calling. I rather got the impression that some at least have the opinion that a minister's work consists in preaching two sermons on a Sunday, conducting a week-night prayer meeting, and then closing his eyes and ears to everything around him in the world. For when I presented myself at the door of the court room and attempted to enter, I was pushed back and told that could not go in there. After awhile I did get in and listened to the trial. During the day I was informed by an official of the county that I had no business there, and told to get out and one of the guards from the penitentiary told me that I was out of my calling as a minister to he found in the court house.

This was a new experience for me for I have visited courthouses and police courts in the towns and cities of the old land also in this dominion and way before been a welcome guest. I consider that there is no place uponearth where a minister of the Gospel should be a more welcome guest than in the court more of justice, and I was pleased that some of the leading citizens of Kingston said to me 'we were glad to see you, Mr. Robinson, and we wish all the clergymen of Kingston had been there.

IMPRESSIONS OF THE TRIAL. Two of the convicts especially impressed the. The first one was young McNeill who comes from Western Ontario, and whose age was given at 19. It appears that he took a horse and buggy and did not return it, and for so doing was given five years in the penitentiary. Now it appears extremely sad to me that a boy of that age should should be sent to the penitentiary. In my opinion he should have been sent to a reformatory where he could have been placed under restraint and taught a trade, and educated, and at the end of his term be might have gone forth to be a respectable citizen. But instead of that he was sent to the penitentiary. I am sorry the law allows it, for I given to understand that a person must have attained the age of nineteen before he can be sent to Portsmouth, and according to the newspapers there was a youth there 16 years of age who came from North Bay for forgery. I was reading that others are there who have scarcely passed boyhood, which if true is a disgrace to our dominion.

"There was another prisoner I want to mention whose name was Bonnar; I think one of the most remarkable I have ever seen. He did not look like a criminal, but the very opposite. He, too, had been sentenced for stealing a horse in the west to seven years imprisonment, and also had the misfortune to be in the company of the Mecum brothers in Stoney Mountain, Manitoba, and brought with them to Portsmouth. He was charged with breaking jail and assaulting the guards, a charge which he denied. It will be a long time before I forget his address to the jury, and his eloquent appeal to the judge for a suspended sentence. I have never heard more beautiful language. It was magnificent. It was the pleading a polished scholar. Among other things he said he was not a man of violence, but he realized that his great failing was a bad temper, and sweared it was this hasty temper which had led him to steal the horse in the west. He said: 'I have a longing at freedom. If I had not I should be less of a man, particularly at this time of the year, when the birds are singing and the leaves are opening on the trees. He also said that his own escape was not premeditated but that he suddenly found his cell door in open, and took advantage of the liberty offered to him. He had a desire to do right and to be a good citizen and a benefit to society and added when the penitentiary ceased to be a place of reformation, then it is not answering the was instituted. In his own case it could answer no good purpose for he was not a criminal at heart, but had been surrounded by unfortunate circumstances, and pleaded with the Judge to give him a chance.

"I am glad Judge Madden was impressed and promised to take an interest in him, and gave him the privilege of applying for a parole at the expiration of his present sentence. For my part I should like to see others take an interest in this young man, for it seems a pity that he should be behind prison bars. I should like to see a parole granted before the present sentence expires, for I believe if he were now given the opportunity he would as he said, become a man in every sense of the word.

COMPLAINS OF TREATMENT. "One of the convicts was very bitter in his denunciation of the penitentiary and the treatment the convicts received there. "If there is a Christian in this place," he said, 'let him come out to Portsmouth and see what is going on inside the penitentiary. If the prisoners were getting what the Government granted them, they would not have so much trouble with us, The warden can do as he like, inflict any punishment he sees fit. There are strange scenes going on in side those walls. From the outside it may seem a nice place, but inside it is hell. I have just finished serving 80 days in the punishment cells, and during that time I have only had three slices of bread each day and water to drink, and at times even my bed was taken away. One day I asked a guard how long my punishment was going to last. He laughed at me and said that that wasn't punishment and that I might find out what punishment was later.' SHOULD APPOINT COMMISSION. "The statements of this convict may be exaggerated but there should be some means of finding out. The government should appoint an independent Commission to investigate that penitentiary I do not mean at before these men it is our duty to to mention "As I close I want to say that send one man to investigate but several man, free from political leanings and let there be a thorough investigation into every department. I do not know what the conditions at Portsmouth are, but whatever they are they should be such "That punishments are not left to the discretion of any one man." The kind of punishments the convict described should not be permitted, even in Siberia. We shall never makes good men by cruelty or the dungeon or starvation. We may emaciate and torture their bodies, and it may be to cowe them and make them into weaklings - but that I hold is not the purpose of a penitentiary. When a penitentiary fails of to reform and simply becomes a cage, where men and women are held captive then I say the purpose for which it was instituted in not answered.

PENITENTIARY TOO EXCLUSIVE. "I am afraid that the penitentiary at Portsmouth during late years has become too exclusive an institution. That is so far as the general public concerned. The public has a right know what is taking place within those walls.

THE GUARDS One of the guards during his cross examination was asked if he did not make an distinction in his treatment of the convicts. He said 'No; I treat them all alike; I can see no difference; to me one is as bad as another to me. I hope all the guards are not like that. My opinion is that the guards should be men who can study character, men of stability, but also men of kindness who will consider the penitentiary not simply as a place of confinement, but as a place of reformation, and be ready and willing to help those who are willing to be helped towards a higher and better life.

SHOULD AMEND LAW. "I should like to see one point o lawf amended in reference to an assault case, which is rendered: "It does not matter who struck the blow, all are liable, and guilty with one who struck the blow.;

"Take the case of Bonnar. He said his escape was not premeditated and according to the evidence given as to the location of the cells, it does not seem possible that it could have been. He said he found his cell door open and took advantage of the liberty another man granted to him, as many another man would have done, and yet the law says 'he is equally guilty with the one who struck the blow.' I should like to see the law so amended that it would apply only when it can be proven that there has been a premeditated plan of violence." RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION IN PEN "I am a great believer in the cross of Christ and its power to lift men ups. What opportunities are afforded these men for spiritual improvement? I understand that there are two chaplains, Roman Catholic and English Church, and these men are supposed to look after spiritual welfare of about 600 convicts. They may be first class men, consecrated men, but in my opinion they are not sufficient. I think that the other ministers of the city should have an opportunity of helping these men and women if they so desire and of speaking them about their souls' salvation. There are ministers in the city who are evangelistic and who have an intense desire to help the unfortunate, and the fallen, and for my part I am going to make an effort to bring the matter to the at intention of the Minister of Justice.

IN CONCLUSION. As I close I want to say that there is not convict in that Portsmouth Penitentiary but has a soul and can be saved. If it is in our do power to bring hope and lofty ideals before those men who have sinned, every inducement to be good, and to live lives of righteousness; to see to it that our penitentiaries are should not simply places where men suffer for their crimes, but places where men and women who are there simply on account of some minor crime, or indiscretion may not have their souls crushed within them, but encouraged to go forth with reformation of life and character.

....Yeah.........I just wanted to say I would have absolutely REFUSED doing that. Because I am very cool and badass. I would have also gotten in major trouble for it, but them's the brakes.

Unexpected Interaction (Part 6)

The last week was probably the most difficult one of Vil’s life. Never before had his nerves been tested so often. The fact that he didn’t acquire a few gray strands could be called nothing other than a miracle. Fate definitely couldn’t leave him alone, every now and then sending not only LeBlanche, but also three spoiled `princes`. This was exactly what he lacked for complete happiness. No one instilled trust in him, and for the first time ever, the model was ready to admit that dealing with Neige was much easier. However, he wasn’t clearly going to say this out loud. It was too much honor.

Only a blind idiot who didn’t understand hints and couldn’t read between the lines could believe that they, by `pure coincidence`, accompanied the brunet. How they got to the Academy, the young man didn’t know and most importantly want to know. In the end, if they were students of the College, there were too many times more problems from them.

However, Schoenheit did want to know something: how, in the name of the Great Seven, do you manage to attract so many strange personalities to your person? He was fed up with the intrigue of the trinity. The way they seem to have set themselves the goal of getting him out of the competition in which you became the “prize”. This was exactly what the head of Pomefiore couldn’t allow. You have long been an part of Night Raven College. In addition, Epel could have finally rebelled without your presence nearby.

Therefore, he didn’t hesitate, pronouncing the following phrase, “We are very flattered by your proposal, but we have already discussed this point with the director. Name and Rook have been exempted from classes specifically for the upcoming event. Unfortunately, you gentlemen,” the young man looked pointedly at the trio. “..come all the way for nothing.”

“Why,” unexpectedly for Vil, it wasn’t the brunette, in whom he saw familiar features, but the blond who, it seems, never parted with the phone, spoke up. “The director of our Academy made a concession in the same way, allowing us to accompany a classmate. Since we also had a day off, we could go with you as a support group. After all, the more people the better, right LeBlanche?“

"Exactly! It will be much more fun!” Neige spoke again, not noticing how Schoenheit frowned almost imperceptibly. “Vi-kun, do you mind?”

You could have sworn to everything you had that if you weren’t in a crowded place, Vil would have strangled each of the quartet with his own hands. However, you were ready to help him. After that scene during the competition, your sympathy for them diminished, and after they turned your dorm into zoo, this feeling disappeared completely.

“Oh, the one who obscures the moon with her beauty, don’t you share with me the reason that so darkened your eyes?” Apparently, having caught all your displeasure from this situation, the most problematic of the trinity turned to you. “I swear on my honor that I will fulfill any request, whatever it may be!”

Involuntarily, you remembered the old joke that you shouldn`t refuse heroes, but tactfully sent them for heroic deeds. However, if the young man was a real prince, then his country would not forgive you for the sudden disappearance of the heir to the throne. That’s why you just put on your best smile. After all, you didn’t want to go to jail in the same way you did to the grave.

The young man took your absence of an answer in a strange way. There was a sense of guilt in his eyes that you didn’t like even more. You didn’t want to imagine what kind of thing he could do to feel guilty. Silv… no, you associated that name with another student, so you chose to call him Justin-Silver. He seemed to you a stubborn but honest young man. You didn’t doubt him. You were suspicious of his friends, who have a ready answer for any question.

This wasn’t hidden from the gaze of Hunt, who carefully watched what was happening and at the right moment obsessively took a few steps closer.

“I beg your pardon, but maybe we really should hurry?” Realizing that you could stand like that at least all day, you decided to remind you about the photoshoot again.

You couldn`t say that you want to go, but the sooner you would start, the sooner you would finish. Sooner you would part with the eccentrics and return home. There was an unpleasant silence after your question, but soon Schoenheit nodded and headed for the gate. Well, judging by his reaction, at least you would get to the place separately. This was another plus in situation.

In the car driven by Vil’s manager, you sit in silence. You thought about how to get through this day as quickly as possible. The model probably dreamed of the same. Even though you still didn’t know why he helped you, you hadn’t stopped feeling gratitude. It was too scary to think how you would deal with the trinity alone.

“Potato,” without taking his eyes off the window, the head of Pomefiore call you. “I’ll be busy, so I’ll leave you to Rook.”

Blinking a couple of times, you didn’t immediately understand what exactly the young man meant. Until the next second it dawned on you. Perhaps the blond knew that a trio would come to college with Neige. Perhaps he went to negotiate with the director, not wanting to leave you to figure it out alone. This realization once again filled you with warmth. In his own way, Vil tried to keep his promise to you.

“Okay, I won’t step from him even centimeter,” this time you answered without sarcasm, almost. “Unless, of course, Mr. Hunter himself doesn’t move away from me in the direction of LeBlanche”

“Rook”

“Accepté! Roi du Poison, I swear that I will not take my eyes off the beautiful lady!“

Vil sighed as he heard Hunt’s deliberately joyful voice in the inappropriate atmosphere. He could only hope that everything would pass without incident. Today a tough battle awaits him, which, however, he wasn’t going to lose.

By the time the car pulled up to the studio, Schoenheit had regained his usual calm. They were now on his battlefield. After exchanging glances with his deputy once more, Vil brushed invisible specks of dust from his jacket and opened the door. The noise from the side suggested that Neige had also arrived on time. Ignoring the eternal rival, the blonde, along with the manager and personal support team, went to put on makeup for a photoshoot.

As soon as you crossed the threshold, it seemed to you that there was a completely different world outside the door. Inside, people were already scurrying about carrying out hundreds of all kinds of errands: someone was changing the scenery, someone was setting up cameras and lights, someone was distributing different boxes around the studio.

Trying not to get in the way, you immediately found a more or less quiet corner, settling down in which you began to observe what was happening. As Vil warned, he was taken away immediately at the entrance, so Rook settled down next to you. From where you were, you saw how Neige entered, who was also taken away in the same way, but to the opposite wing, followed by a trio.

Fortunately, they also scattered around the studio. Except one. Your most loyal fan has somehow managed to spot you among the staff. However, to your surprise, he didn’t come up right away, but after some time with a bottle of water. Probably, honor, or what he was guided by, didnt allow him to approach the lady empty-handed.

Deciding to finish you off completely, he turned to Rook and bowed to him.

“I’m sorry for asking, but would you mind letting me talk to the lady,” his voice sounded just as firm, but bending over to a 90 degree bow definitely gave the situation a different twist. "I swear on my honor that not a single hair will fall from her head, I will be responsible for it.”

“Rook, I know what I promised Vil, but could you give us five minutes?” Realizing that in this way he would attract unnecessary attention, you turned to Hunt.

“As the lady wishes,” vice-leader Pomefiore replied, slightly bowing his hat and flashing green eyes towards the young man. “However, if you need me, I’ll be within walking distance.”

Following the blond with your eyes, you sighed, hoping that you made the right choice.

A Particular Kyoudai’s New Years

Spoilers for Y4 and Y5

This one is extremely near and dear to my heart, it’s so so nice. I had to do a lot of cultural research for it because I didn’t know a whole lot about new years traditions in japan, so expect a lot of notes in this one too.

This one was also a sugoroku event, here’s the chibi Saejima to go with it.

I also really like the details on Majima’s new years outfit, look at the hannya snakes on the fan and on the liner fabric! 

That was the only card I put real life money in to get, I spent so many diamonds on him. I had saved up around 7k and ground out another 7k from stories I hadn’t done yet and still had to put in 10 bucks before I got him, but I still have every single Majima card so it’s worth it.

Summary: At the end of 2012, Saejima has been served his papers to go back to jail, and will be going back in a week. Majima decides that they should celebrate this New Years in a big way then! Saejima would really rather just stay home, but Majima has a whole day planned out and it’s going to end with a bang.

It’s New Years Day, 2013. Saejima will be returning to jail in a week, and is currently with Majima in the family office. Saejima complains that Majima is already drinking, Majima retorts that New Years is a drinking holiday, so he’s gonna drink! Saejima doesn’t feel much like celebrating since Kiryu’s still in the hospital.

Saejima: You're too youthful, kyoudai. How are ya burnin' even brighter than ya were back then? Majima: You've always been an old man. ...Yeah, that settles it!  Saejima: What? Majima: I want my kyoudai to have a great new year! Let's start the celebrations!! Saejima: Wh- all the sudden? Ehhh, let's just have a quiet time together here. Majima: What, just gonna blow me off? Saejima: ...Okay. Where we going? Majima: I'm gonna get us a ride, don't worry! Go get yourself ready. Hey! Nishida! Nishida: On it sir! Saejima: ...? Majima: <changes clothes> Yeah! Now I'm feelin' the new year!

Saejima: ...Are we really goin' out like this?

Majima: Of course we are, idiot! Why the hell else would I get changed!

Majima: Alright! Let's roll out in my favorite yukata~ Saejima: Good grief. Don't get too excited. I guess goin' on a little date can't be helped huh. Well, he'll probably get tired of it right away. (Tl note: date here is  付き合い which is more “associating” in the dictionary but used a LOT for romantic dates)

The two of them make their way to their first stop, a back alley where they’re going to play hanetsuki, which is similar to badminton. Saejima dunks on Majima’s fashion choices. Majima complains that there aren’t enough people around to see his fashion choices. 

They finally stop squabbling about fashion and get ready to play only to get interrupted by two goons who start talking shit. Majima asks if they should just beat them up, that could be fun? Saejima says nah, they’re not even worth the effort, besides we were here first so they have to step off. Majima throws his wallet into the air because he’s tired of carrying it, and the goons agree that whoever wins at hanetsuki gets to stay.

Unfortunately, Majima wants to hit EVERYTHING, and collides with Saejima in his attempt to steal a shot that Saejima could have gotten easily. Saejima declares that they each gotta stay on their own side and deal with only stuff on that side. Majima gets bored of playing since he has to actually wait, and zones out while a shot sails right past him.

Saejima is ready to throttle him.

Saejima: Kyoudai! Stop bein' so moody! goon a: Hahaha! You keep calling each other kyoudai but you're not in sync at all (Tl note: this is also like, a match for each other, as in "they are a perfect match for each other") goon b: I guess they're """kyoudai""" huh? Haha. Both: WHO'S NOT IN SYNC, IDIOTS??

They were down 9:0, but from here on play seriously, and come back to win 10:9. The goons jump them, because they want Majima’s wallet full of cash, and unsurprisingly get their asses kicked by the jimas.

Next up they head to Tojo HQ; turns out the Majima Family has rented the whole place out for New Years. Minami has prepared something...

The next stage is kakizome! It’s like a new years resolution. Majima, Nishida, and Minami all get to writing their new years goals, and Saejima thinks he’s kind of old to be doing this, but whatever. Nishida’s goal is revealed first: he wants to build a house for his parents!

Majima: Ughhhh, boring Nishida: I'M SORRY BOSS! Saejima: ...Nishida, why are you in the Majima family...? Minami: Boss! I'm done with mine!! Majima: Let's see if you did good... Minami: Here it is! "REVENGE MATCH"

Minami says that he wants to get as good as Majima, who is clearly better than Saejima, so he needs to get a rematch with Saejima after losing to him 3 years ago. Majima is thrilled, Saejima agrees to the fight. Saejima wins but says Minami is getting stronger, and if he keeps at it maybe he can still fulfil it this year. Majima says he's done with all this new years writing and Saejima says he already wrote his, it's "The Top". It's also the exact thing that Majima wrote down.

Saejima: Back when I was in the Sasai family, I wanted to make a name for him. I felt like I wanted to see how far up the ladder I could climb. I keep that feelin' with me even now. Majima: Hehehe! I think we'll see who's the strongest soon. Kyoudai... even if I'm your opponent, don't give up on that feeling, alright? Saejima: Heh, that's my line

Onwards to stage 3! This time it’s hatsumōde, the first shrine visit of the year.

Saejima: We're doin' this in the wrong order. Majima: Whatever! I'm gonna go pray! Saejima, internally: Kyoudai... why are you makin' such a mysterious face? It's not like you to rely on a god Saejima: What'd you write on your ema? I already got my miracle Majima: Don't worry none about me. Next we're drawin' you a fortune! Saejima: ...? Saejima: So this is the fortune huh... oh! Major blessing! (Tl note: the luckiest possible draw) What's it say, what's it say... "You are going to have the best fight of your life"... Wow, this is one dangerous shrine! What the hell?

Saejima immediately gets jumped by a goon. Those fortunes work fast, huh? He wins easily and threw the goon into the ema wall and knocked them over, and when he was picking them back up he found Majimas which said "I wish that Sasai will recover"

"Thank you so much. Kyoudai."

Next we’re doing fukubukuro, new years blind bags that have random items at a discount. The guy selling them sure looks reputable!

They both buy one and head over to the park to open them, but Majima gets a call that the Majima Family office has been robbed! Everyone was at Tojo HQ, but they’re looking for who did it now. Even Majima’s safe was opened and the contents taken. Majima apologizes and has to run off to the office, leaving Saejima to open the bags himself. The first one has............... a snakeskin jacket? He knows Majima custom orders these! The shop keeper!

Saejima goes back and kicks his ass and recovers all the Majima Family items in time for Majima to come back. The item in the safe was a wedding ring, and Majima apparently hasn’t told Saejima anything about being married. Saejima wonders what else Majima has gone through while he was in jail.

Now we’re doing osechi, traditional new years food! Nishida made a dish, and here’s the general meanings of what all he put in them:

tai - good luck ebi - long life kazunoko - wanting a lot of kids in the coming year (Tl note: this one caught be off guard but it’s PROBABLY wanting to grow the families lol) roast beef - no special meaning date maki - more good luck

Two Majima family guys are out in front of HQ making mochi, but they got way too much. Minami ate so much of it that he collapsed, but Saejima refuses to let this rice flour go to waste, so he and Majima head out to theater square and just start making mochi there. Minami and Nishida are selling it to everyone, and it’s a huge hit. 

(This guy is saying it’s really delicious, but his face is looking like they just shot his dog)

Some dude hassles them about the mochi, they kick the shit out of him, and get down to their final two. Majima says he knows exactly who he wants to give them to, and takes Saejima to Yasuko’s grave.

Saejima thinks to himself that there's no question about it, when he's not around Majima is always taking care of this grave. He tries to give Majima the "thank you so much" line but Majima brushes it off as something he just felt like doing, nbd

Majima: Well, Majima Goro's present to you this year is this new year's tour. Did ya like it? Anythin' ya still wanna do? Saejima: Nothin'. This whole day has been a lot of fun. Majima: That so? Good, then it's time for the final stop. Let's go... kyoudai.

Majima: It's been a long time since we've been here. Since that fight Saejima: Yeah. Why's this the final stop of our tour? Majima: Heh, why indeed? ..............I decided on that night that if it was the end, I wanted to go all the way, but I didn't get to. And now, you're going back to jail. Leaving things all pent up and half done just isn't in my nature. Saejima: Did you do this whole tour just for this? Majima: More or less. Well, there were some troubles on the way. Hanetsuki for a warm up. New Year's writing to make sure ya still had that fire in ya. Saejima: And that fortune saying I'd have the best fight of my life... I shoulda figured somethin' was up. Majima: Does it hurt to just get that now? And the grab bags... that went kinda sideways, but I intended it to be some stress relief.  And then deliscious food is good for ya mentally and physically. Saejima: I'm amazed at how into this you are. Do you remember what you said before? "You're gettin' soft, come back to the Tojo clan with your teeth sharpened. If ya get soft, it's over for you". <RECEIVE AND SLASH YOU CUTS IN> Well, let's check if my fangs are soft now. Majima: ...Hehehe. Yeah, that's the look I wanna see! That's Saejima Taiga... my kyoudai! Saejima: Let's go, Majima!!

They fight and both collapse to the ground and gush about how much fun this all was. The ending card then cuts in

A few days later.......... Saejima Taiga himself suspended his probation and turned himself in. He was sent to Abashiri prison. Majima continued supporting Daigo and the Tojo clan. In their pursuit of climbing all the way to the top of the Tojo clan.............. these two beasts will keep fighting.

I also translated most if not all of Saejima’s thoughts, here’s some of the highlights.

Batting Center I went with my kyoudai to the batting center. We used to bring Yasuko stuff like homerun prizes as gifts. ...I miss her. Wood Carving As part of my penal labor I learned wood carvin', so now it's a hobby of mine. One is being displayed by the entrance to HQ.

Kanrai I joined up cause of my patriarch. The Sasai Family was a respectable and good family, which I should feel good about, but I just feel sorry

Purgatory Coliseum Why would you fight a tiger? People really are fuckin' idiots nowadays. I'm going to make em stop. The tiger's miserable. Kyoudai Wearin' an eyepatch and makin' a ruckus... He really changed a lot while I was gone, but the same roots are still there. He really is Majima Goro. Hair style In the old days I would let my hair grow out until Yasuko complained, but going with the shaved look ain’t too bad. This is the only thing I can empathize with Shimano on.

Stray Cats These cats were abandoned. I've already gotten attached. Well, I guess the number of cats in the family office is gonna increase...

Clothes Even now I still wear the clothes I got from Kiryu. Heh. That guy has good taste. I’m still wearing hand-me-downs. Karaoke It’s not that I hate singing, but I don’t like doin’ it in front of people. I’ll play the tambourine though.

Describing it as being like home is actually pretty accurate yeah.

And YES! I am totally willing to talk about my modern AU.

I've been calling it the Adoption AU because Time ends up adopting all of the boys. It mostly started as, I saw an edit for a tweet someone did with Wars and Wild that involved Taco Bell (cannot remember the blog or post for the life of me though), and so I wrote a thing about Warriors sneaking out of his university dorm to pick up Wild, who snuck out the window despite his broken arm, and then got extorted by Legend in exchange for silence at 3am.

This was followed by a fic where Groose decided spray painting a public building was a good idea and got himself and Sky arrested, set earlier in the timeline.

So then I made a timeline. Twilight is Time and Malon's biological son, and he found Wild on the side of the road one day (Wild's backstory involves a bad car wreck and an underground hospital, but no conspiracy bullshit. Yet). Wild has no memory, so they keep him. Wild brings home Legend, who was told his uncle died at school before a holiday. They then also keep Legend. Malon finds Four in her barn one morning for complicated reasons, and they keep him too. Twilight finds Warriors, who is in his class, hiding in an alley one day after he ran away from an abusive home and brings him home too. SS Impa (who I've nicknamed Shield because there are enough prominent Impas here that they should get nicknames too) is a social worker who's trying to find Sky a home and has run out of options, and turns to Time, who has a record of successfully housing 'unhousable' youths, and asks if he can take one more. He can. Wild finds Hyrule and brings him home because 'Rule needs a shower even more than Wild does. Hyrule stays. Wind's grandma ends up with Wind and his sister but can't financially take care of both and so Wind ends up with the boys and everyone is +1 Grandma.

Twilight has a fic detailing how he knows Midna and Dusk and I ended up shooting him (oops) but at least their social project gets handed in on time.

Then I started hashing out Time's backstory and suddenly this AU had plot. And organized crime. And a conspiracy. And secret societies.

The summarized version is that the gems from OoT are like, Idk what they do yet. Haven't gotten to a point where I need to figure that out yet. But they are Important and have to be carefully guarded. The Great Deku Tree (just called Deku because he's not a tree here) was Time's foster father before Ganondorf killed him. Also, Ganondorf is Deku's half brother. Because. However Time 'stole' the Emerald and he and Navi ran until OoT Impa (Sage) and Lullaby found them. So Time got adopted into Lullaby's family. Ruto inherited the Sapphire from her mother who also died from mysterious circumstances, and Darunia has the Ruby. Lullaby got the Ocarina from her late paternal grandmother.

Then Ganon finds them and tries to steal the Emerald from Time, so Lullaby goes looking for help and thus finds the sages. Saria is an anonymous hacker who uses the screen name 'Kokiri'. Time reveals he didn't steal the Emerald, he was Deku's heir, and then Navi goes missing. Time is home worried enough that he's physically sick, and Ganon decides to try and attack the home. Only Lullaby's family is Olde Money, and they live in a big, old manor, so Lullaby as Sheik decides to play 'Home Alone' with the secret passages in the walls and they piss off Ganon because when did that brat get a sheikah bodyguard??? Sage and Rottla (Lullaby's mother, who is fully sheikah as well) rush home from a thing and Kokiri is running a play by play watching the security cameras.

I pull in my headcanon that Time was killed in the Downfall Timeline by getting impaled on Ganon's tusk and Ganondorf stabs him with the tusk of a mounted boar head and then Sheik shows up to protect his brother, and then Mama gets home and is not happy to find this man in her home attacking her kids. Time is fine, but Navi stays missing. (She's alive tho.)

Also, Time's foster dad was the last leader of a secret society known as The Order of The Lost Woods, and Time learns this upon meeting Tatl, who gets him sucked into another event that would probably make a good action movie. I have thought too much about the Order and it's hierarchy, but what's important here is that Time ends up with a standing job offer and Tatl and he remain friends and we find out how I fit FD into this AU. It's not pretty. This is where Time loses his eye too.

The AoC came out and I added that Link in as Wild's twin brother and he shows up during the main plot.

Which starts with Twi getting kidnapped. (I'm not really meaner to him than the others, I swear, he's just the most logical choice to be Time's heir. Which he is. He doesn't know this though.)

So he's kidnapped by Ganondorf, who broke out of jail, Zant, who shot Twi in highschool, and Ghirahim, who has some history with Sky I haven't fleshed out yet and a very public rivalry with Warriors over twitter. About six weeks later Sage finds him in an abandoned warehouse (because of course) with a shackle on his left arm and a lot of new injuries. He ends up fine, but he tells Time later in the hospital what happened and he's both message and messenger and Time is this close to just committing murder. Tatl talks him down.

Somewhere here is the half finished fic where I introduce AoC Link as Luke/Knight, and this is as far as I've plotted thus far.

Other tidbits: Wild and Lullaby/Sheik are both genderfluid, Lullaby/Sheik married Ruto, Wild has a very popular YouTube channel, Twi does drag racing sometimes, Sky has a pet bird, Four has DID to explain how the Colours are here too, and Wolfie exists in the form of a random wolf-dog Wild found and brought home that Legend somehow convinced half the family was Twilight. Also, Warriors has somehow befriended an entire sorority and he doesn't know how this happened.

This... got long. As you can see I have a lot of thoughts about the Adoption AU. It's gotten a bit away from me, I'll admit. This went from 'Wild does stunts on his motorbike and keeps breaking bones but somehow not the bike' to 'Twilight got kidnapped and Time is the target of a mafia that Ganon runs and also maybe killed a man once' and I don't know how that happened. Also, this is the condensed version of the summary. My actual summary/outline is much, much longer than this. So if there's any detail you want more on, feel free to say so and I'll happily go into more detail (there are so many things I didn't even mention....)

And yes, Robbie having a bong is very important to my best friend, for some reason. He has one in a modern AU and he probably invented one in canon. I happen to agree that this makes sense for his character, if anyone would invent a bong in LoZ it's Robbie (this is such an anticlimactic end to this ask after the stuff about the modern AU...)

Also, sorry for the long ass ask. I genuinely don't know how to condense the Adoption Au down any further. There's a lot of important plot beats to cover, and I still skipped things.

Part Two: 

Ardent Human Desire vs. Fate and the Manpasikjeok OR Why Are There So Many Obstacles Between Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-Eul’s Ultimate Reunion?

If you haven’t, please go back and read Part One: Questions About the Flute OR User Manual, Manpasikjeok Edition

Let’s agree to a few things to start, here.

1.       In a parallel universe, everyone has a counterpart/doppelganger.

2.       In TKEM’s version of this, your counterpart/doppelganger shares not only your birthday and therefore your age, but also your exact genealogy—which is to say you have the same parents, grandparents, bloodline across each universe. In TKEM this means you will have the same family name (Jo, Lee, Jeong, Myeong) across all possible universes, though your first names will change depending on your iteration. This also means that you are fated to be with the same family/lover/spouse across all possible universes. This is pre-appointed and applies to everyone. *exception: as the worlds begin to show their cracks, Jo Yeong’s parents have divorced, while Jo Eun-Sup’s stayed together, and have had twins. (The finale, when the worlds are again harmonized, reunites Jo Yeong’s parents and they do have twins, which seems to signal that this was their proper Fate)

3.       Episode 16, the series finale, seems to really muddy the waters of #2 in a way that I probably lean toward being sloppy consistency rather than deliberate revoking of world-building absolutes [Example: Jo Yeong’s parents are together in 2022 and have twins, but those children would be several years younger than their Republic counterparts (who are said to be starting Kindergarten at that same time), which is…not parallel universes in balance? It would signal exactly the opposite—that time and life flows entirely differently in each universe after repairing the flute…and 1:1 doppelgangers are no more--which is maybe yet another post needed to ponder that on…]

If we take on #2, we are left asking ourselves about three particular characters and their doppelgangers: Lee Gon/Lee Ji-Hyun, Jeong Tae-Eul/Luna, and Kang Sin-Jae/Kang Hyeon-Min

Across all universes, how are they fated to hook-up? OR Who is Jeong Tae-Eul’s true, fated love across all universes in the mind and will of Manpasikjeok?

Is it Jeong Tae-Eul/Luna, and Kang Sin-Jae?

For example, if Shin-Jae of the Kingdom is fated for Luna, and vice versa, and he’s been taken to the Republic (against the will of the flute), he can’t be with Luna. BUT, if that is the fate, that those two are to be together--especially to have a child--then it translates across all parallel worlds, and means that Jeong Tae-Eul is meant for Kang Hyeon-Min, yes? The two Republic-based iterations. This also would illuminate two other things:

1.       The fact that Sin-Jae "has feelings for” Tae-Eul. She’s not the “right” iteration for him (he’s Kingdom and she’s Republic), but she’s the closest he can get to the satisfaction of his heart, in a frustrated Fate.

2.      It could be suggested -- Did you ever notice that the youth embodiment of the flute appears at least twice in situations that throw KSJ and JTE even closer together? In one, he’s leading that group of high schoolers past the TaeKwonDo center where KSJ first sees Tae-Eul, and in another he’s bullying KSJ so that JTE fights for KSJ. It doesn’t seem coincidental to me that the flute makes an appearance trying to throw these two together—even though they’re the wrong match. Poor thing, it’s trying, in its broken state, to still do its job, to still steer fate.

3.       But yet, Tae-Eul never--even long before meeting Lee Gon--has romantic feelings for Sin-Jae.

4.       And what we’re shown in the final episode of the series between Sin-Jae and Luna in the Kingdom could at best be called pre-romantic. (and more likely be termed platonic) Their relationship mirrors the JTE/KSJ relationship in the Republic, of her hyung-nim well before Lee Gon appeared, before KSJ expressed that he had feelings for her.

Is it Jeong Tae-Eul and Kang Hyeon-Min?

If it’s meant to be JTE and Kang Hyeon-Min as a fated couple, that’s impossible, as KHM has been rendered comatose in a way that we’re not shown is related to either the Traitor or the Treason. We are shown in Episode 16 what was “supposed” to happen was that he would NOT be struck by the car—his original fate doesn’t hold, there, and as such, his character in 2022, now a chaebol, is removed entirely from JTE’s circle of acquaintance. I’d say, importantly, in the Episode 16 re-set (pre-LG’s return), she not only never looks him up, she never encounters him, which if he were her fate or her potential fate, she surely would have.

Is it Jeong Tae-Eul and Lee Ji-Hyun?

I confess this is where my money is. Of course, Lee Ji-Hyun, in the Traitor’s made-over version of the Republic, dies at age 8, so JTE would never have met him, and therefore I posit would have lived as a single, childless woman until her death in that version of the Republic. (Without the LG re-set)

(Had she not met Lee Gon) I believe that JTE and LJH were fated, in the will and agenda of the flute. They are its preferred match.

What about Lee Gon, then? Who for him?

Remember, in Episode 16, Luna gets a found-family re-set, and PM Koo is jailed after some political intrigue (though not having risen as high as PM). While Lee Gon would not likely have met Luna 1.0 the street rat, it’s not impossible to think that he might, at some function or another, have met a politician’s sibling who was college-educated and working as a civil servant.

I choose to believe that all versions of JTE and LG are fated to be lovers and ultimately parents to children. It is only Lee R/Lim’s cockblock that makes it impossible for the Republic’s iteration of JTE to meet Lee Ji-Hyun, dead aged 8. 

Which is where Ardent Human Desire comes into play in altering Fate.

What is Ardent Human Desire when we’re talking about Fate?

Let me direct you to a little moment in a show called Goblin/Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, written by Kim Eun-Suk, the writer of TKEM. 

A moment of set-up: the Grim Reaper has a tea room behind a solid (to living human eyes) wall. In it he entertains dead souls before they leave this world. In one episode, a living human man comes through the door, begging for a bathroom. Both Goblin and Reaper are stunned: no one living should be able to come through that door, much less see it. It’s not their Fate. Fate is unchangeable, right? But after directing the living man (in pain from a need for the toilet), they muse that ardent human desire can perhaps open any door (alter any assigned fate). [Something Goblin is eager to accomplish, subverting fate]

Seeing as it’s from the same author’s mind, I’d argue that that concept comes into play in TKEM, too.

From the Night of the Treason forward, Lee Gon has an ardent human desire to find JTE. Not Luna. No, he wants to meet the woman from the Republic who’s a police officer. That’s 25 years of a (let’s be clear: non-sexual, non-romantic at the time) persistent desire that never lessens, never fades. Furthermore, it’s a desire of the king who’s a potential player of the flute, of the growing child who heard the flute call to him. Of the man who chooses ultimately to retrieve the flute whole at ultimate personal risk (and risk, even, to his relationship with JTE, the object of his Ardent Human Desire).

And the flute tests him—in fact, I will argue with you all night and into the weekend that what we’re shown of him opening every door in the universe is just that: a test by Manpasikjeok. “Are you sure she’s what you really want?” it’s asking him. “How far will you go to find her? How many iterations of her happy can I show you until it lessens your desire for her? Until you give in?”

I think it’s terribly important that in no iteration does LG find a JTE doppelganger that’s in a bad situation, in need of rescuing. [Case in point: Luna 1.0 street rat--he’s allowed to see nothing similar] He expressly tells JTE that she is happy every time he finds a version of her. And yet, because of how fate works in TKEM’s universes, he likewise never finds her married or involved with anyone, or with children—because, as Part One laid out: if one Lee Gon/JTE has children (same birthdays)/hooks up with their fate, then ALL iterations of Lee Gon/JTE have children (same birthdays)/have hooked up with their fate--particularly once the timeline and flute have been repaired.

We know that if those JTEs had met their LG iterations they would have AT LEAST recognized our LG’s face when he presented himself. But they don’t. Nope. She is always employed, always still living in the same building with one, if not two, parents. Because of that we’re never shown that LG has trouble locating her (as JTE did in the Kingdom locating her mother, checking their address, b/c there her parents were both dead).

This shot will never look above-board.

To think about how these/this situation works, keep in mind that last leap during their epilogue dating trips—where LG had just left the Kingdom and they were blipped back there only minutes later. The flute, in its whole form, is clearly controlling where they are sent and when (and perhaps that’s a different post, too, about how the flute is preparing/teaching Lee Gon to be its eventual player). The flute, when whole, controls where you end up. It’s not a transporter where you dial up your destination, it’s spinning a roulette wheel if the roulette wheel is fixed by the House.

Here, in the immediate wake of resetting the night of the Treason, the flute is actively NOT LETTING Lee Gon get to JTE. It is MAKING HIM open every door in the universe, seeing if he will persist, showing him what it wants him to see. (Her happy and at peace, not in need of him.) The flute is trying to see if it can convince Lee Gon to let her go since, as they are from two different worlds, they are not each other’s assigned fate.

Obviously, showing him a JTE in straitened circumstances would only encourage him to find her. That’s not going to lessen his desire, so the flute doesn’t go that route. Instead, it shows JTE with purpose, first (I think) as an airline pilot, then a soldier, a graduate of the police academy, and finally as some version of an ‘Idol’ (I think.) [*All positions that also do a surprisingly good job of showing qualities that would sync well with being the Queen of the Kingdom, so perhaps the flute is a little conflicted about JTE as well…]

And what’s more, during this time, as LG is opening every door in the universe (and also, I assume, only being able to venture into the liminal space and leave the Kingdom occasionally b/c he’s still got King Work to do), the flute decides to put someone directly in bitterly lonely Tae-Eul’s path as well.

And it’s not to break her heart (nor viewers’). 

Think about when she encounters Lee Ji-Hyun on the street. On my original views it seemed to me that he didn’t take any notice of her at all (she is, at her height, well out of his line of sight), but upon closer re-watch he DOES actually have a second of looking at her. It’s not extended eye contact, and maybe not direct eye contact at all, but he does see her. In this, the flute gives Tae-Eul the chance to see her original, pre-LG fated love. And what does it have him dressed in, just for her sake?

That’s right: his military uniform. It’s not the same coat Lee Gon wore when washing rice, that was white—but it’s the black one he and Yeong are wearing in their selfie. “Here he is,” the flute/Fate seems to be saying to her, “he could be yours if you’ll only accept him.”

[*It is also perhaps because Lee Ji-Hyu- iterations are serving his military service that the other JTE-iterations have not met him yet in the other parallel universes]

But the Ardent Human Desire of these two lovers refuses to be swayed, even after a year of separation and total ignorance of each other’s post-reset situations. Persistent. Ardent. Human. Desire.

The flute is indebted to both of them. They each took steps that culminated in a destiny/fate they each chose to embrace (to use Prince Buyeong’s words). They sacrificed their own Ardent Human Desires to fix the timeline and the parallel universes while knowing it might well separate them forever from that which they desire (the exact opposite of villainous Lee R/Lim’s actions). [In fact, making  ultimately Kingly choices, shows of wisdom and worthiness.]

The King Lee Gon chose for not only his subjects, but also the citizens of the Republic, and the future Queen JTE chose to brave the liminal space with Lee R/Lim for her love, the King.

And in the wake of that, fate—and the Manpasikjeok—agreed to bend.

Which is why LG and JTE then become what is fated.

Belladonna Zeppeli (Backstory part 1)

Created with Artbreeder. This was the first character I created for JJBA. There was so much backstory I created for her that I had to divide it into parts. This part goes into her family history and her childhood friendship with Pannacotta Fugo.

Warning: Mentions of abuse, imbalance of power between employer and employee, domestic abuse, and past mention of implied child abuse (Fugo's backstory)

Family lineage

Donna's NOT from Caesar. She's from Caeser littlest sister, who I named Panini Zepelli. Just a guess, she was probably born in 1927 because Caesar looks about 12 and she looks about 3.

Panini Zepelli

When she was a young lady, she worked for an aristocrat that horribly abused her for years. It only stopped when she became pregnant and her abuser's wife connected the dots. Panini never talks about it. Just that the man "mysteriously died" and his (happily) widowed wife pressured Panini to take a severance package and never come back or even MENTION their names. Decades later, Panini still held up that agreement.

Keep in mind, that 'severance package' came with the equivalent of 2 million Euro. This brought her and her remaining siblings out of poverty and into upper-middle class.

Adrian Zepelli (and Alina Zepelli)

Born in 1950, Adrian grew up with his mother and two uncles. He was raised amongst the rich, but still considered a poor nobody amongst them, especially since he's the "bastard child of a money-grabbing mistress". He worked hard and became a successful lawyer. Only problem is that he became a bitter incel. He went through his youth single and avoided by women. He even considered just living his life as a spinster, but he knew it'd sadden his mother to never have any grandchildren. By a strange twist of fate, he found a wife.

In the year 1980, there was an uproar about a Russian immigrant that slaughtered a mafia family and some Russian gangsters. When Adrian first laid eyes on the killer, Natalia, he was smitten. He's never met a woman more beautiful and in need of a savior. Would he have bothered being her attorney for free if she was a guy or deemed ugly? No, but that's not the point! Though shallow, he truly thought she didn't deserve to go to jail. The people she killed abused her and murdered her family in cold blood as a child. Also, they were scum that no one would miss. She did Italy a huge favor.

Adrian worked his ass off. Finding dirt on the gangsters (and their family), asking for favors, getting favors repaid from old clients, playing the sympathy card, and twisting the story of the events to make Natalia seem she did nothing illegal, only trying to escape psychos who have a history of exploiting poor migrants. In the end, she was found not guilty of most charges, except for a felony that gave her a short jail sentence (which became even shorter due to good behavior and Adrian). It was a very controversial case that left Italy in an uproar.

Fortunately, she was wearing contacts and hair dye the entire time. After her sentence, she laid low in the Zeppeli residence as a maid and went by her middle name "Alina". In 1982, she became Alina Zepelli, the wife of Adrian. In 1983, they had their firstborn, Luigi Zeppeli.

Luigi Zepelli

Despite the fact Luigi was born into a "happy" and rich family, it was not very stable. His father Adrian is an alcoholic asshole that verbally abuses and "occasionally" physically abuses his mother. Due to her horrific past, Alina never really saw the problem. Adrian's insults to her intelligence never bothered her ("They're just words. He never truly means it.") and she knocks him out when he strikes her ("He only hits me twice a year and then I get him to stop. No big deal. I've had worse."), but they never act like this in front of the children. Well, as far as they know.

Luigi sees what an abusive shit his father is and resents him. While he pissed that his mother doesn't leave him, he pities the fact she is kind of alone in Italy. Worse, when he told the other Zeppelis about the situation, they tried to "fix" the relationship instead of getting his mother out of there. "You need your mother and father" or some toxic bullshit like that. Luigi's childhood was filled with his parents having an on and off relationship, mainly because of his dad's antics. BUT his dad can proudly say he NEVER cheated on his mom. Because THAT was the issue, not the abuse.

The only man Luigi sees as a father is his uncle, Anthony Zeppeli. Anthony isn't a Zeppeli by blood, but he's loved like he is. He's a great police officer, brave, loving, caring, and teaches Luigi how to be a good man. His uncle is the reason Luigi wants to be a police officer, wanting to protect people like his uncle does.

Luigi's very protective of his little sister and wished she wouldn't admire their father. He, his mother, and their uncle at least teaches his sister self-defense and to never let a man push her around. In fact, Alina taught them Harmon, just in case. "You never know when life takes a turn," she would say. Later on, she was sadly right.

Belladonna Zepelli

Luigi was born 1983. Belladonna was born 1985. Adrian only wanted 1 child, but Alina insists "If anything were to happen to us, at least they'd have each other. Going through life alone is truly a hell on earth." and remembering his harsh lonely childhood, Adrian would have to agree. Hence, Donna was conceived. They nickname her "Bella", but she'd rather go by "Donna" since there's so many girls called "Bella".

Donna grew up more naive to her family's instability, and genuinely grateful she was raised in a happy family. She's a daddy's girl who always sympathized with Adrian and always offered a shoulder to cry on when drunk rants about his hardships of being a lawyer and having the high society look down on him.

It was math, but it was big kid math! She begged him to teach her big kid math. That boy was Pannacotta Fugo, the son of Adrian's boss. When Signor Fugo and Adrian caught sight of the kids, Signor Fugo was very impressed. He felt proud that a 5 year old could admire his child prodigy. Adrian was ecstatic to finally be acknowledged by his boss in a jovial manner.

Now, Adrian came up with a plan to keep brown nosing Signor Fugo, doing everything the man wanted, even if it was corrupt and fucked over innocent people. After all, if Adrian didn't do it, someone else would do it anyways AND get the reward. After everything he and Panini went through, the family deserves happiness, everyone else be damned! Adrian's reputation improved greatly throughout the 90s thanks to Belladonna. He had already planned on Donna having an arranged marriage with Pannacotta when they're older. Adrian would finally be considered part of the Old Money class and get the respect he deserves!

Donna, being pure hearted and naive, just wanted to be friends with Panna! He’s always so lonely and never plays with the other kids! He just studies all day! He look so sad! Unbeknownst to the little girl, the boy found her annoying. However, it’s highly effective learning to be able to explain his teachings to another person to prove that he has mastery over these subjects. Besides, she was a good listener. She absorbs the information well, and she apologizes when she asks a stupid question. He doesn’t want to admit it, but it eventually became fun to tutor her for 5 years.

Sadly, when they were 10, Panna’s family didn’t want Donna around him anymore. He needed to focus on his studies and he’s far exceeded Donna’s academic capabilities by then. Donna was sad, but she understands. Adrian explained the situation to her. He and Signor Fugo were still buddy-buddy. "They adore you," he tells her, "They're not doing this to punish you". She wouldn’t want to get in the way of Panna’s future. Going to high school and college at such a young age is impressive! Besides, when he graduates, she’ll see him again!

Things take a dark turn.

Things take a horribly dark turn at age 12. Donna was NOT going to believe the 'official story' that stress caused Pannacotta to snap and attempt murder. She asked around. From what she gathered, Panna was preyed upon and everyone was trying to cover it up at his expense. By the time she figured it out, Pannacotta was already disowned and on the streets.

Saying Donna was hysterical about the news was putting it lightly. She came home and everyone in the house had to hold her down to get her to calm down and explain the situation. "THEY RUINED HIM! THEY RUINED HIS LIFE! PANNA!"

Adrian was the most distraught. He remembered helping that Professor win against a 'false allegation case'. Adrian swears to God and on his mother's life that he thought the man was innocent. He would have never taken the case if he thought he was guilty, especially if he was Pannacotta's Professor! Then he realized that Signor Fugo wanted him to take up the Professor's case. Why didn't his boss feel guilty about helping his son's attacker?! Adrian threw up. He became sick to his stomach at a disturbing realization. The reason Adrian thought it was a false allegation is because the accuser's parents were infamous extortionists. Signor Fugo said "They got a little too greedy". Were they asking for more hush money?! Could it be that influential parents were selling their young boys for favors?! He called his cousin Anthony about the case and asked him to do some digging.

Fortunately (and unfortunately), Anthony suspected that Adrian was right. There was 12 boys connected to the Professor, all their parents friendly with him and got some sort of favor out of him. Anthony demanded Adrian do something about this, but Adrian got scared. Not only did the University not see these obvious red flags, the media never even covered that young boys were always at his house. Anthony didn't understand that they have uncovered something massive.

Adrian had a discussion with the family.

Adrian: We're not looking further into this.

Donna: What?!

Alina: Did you find nothing?

Adrian: *highly distressed*

Luigi: *scoffs* You're not pursuing it to protect your precious job-

Adrian: SHUT THE FUCK UP! I'M DOING IT TO PROTECT YOU!

Luigi: YOU'RE HELPING PREDATORS ROAM FREE! DON'T USE US AS AN EXCUSE!

Adrian: *grimace* You don't understand-

Alina: Then atleast help us understand.

Adrian: This isn't about keeping my job at all. I will not sell my soul for this. However, this monster is influential and has friends in high places. If I expose him, we will never have a normal life. We would have to leave everything behind and go into hiding for the rest of our lives. I don't want to burden you guys-

Alina: No one can serve two masters, You can’t serve both God and money, Adrian. No amount is worth the abuse of children. You know this.

Adrian: But everything we’ve built-

Alima: God will find a way. *smiles.* I’ve been through worse. I’ll know how to get us through it.

Adrian: *Turns to his kids.*

Luigi: So everything about that man….is true?

Adrian: Yes.

Luigi: Then he’s hurt people in my class. Uncle said you identified 12, but I think there’s many more we havent found.

Donna: *sobbing.*

Adrian: Mimma, you dont have to be scared. This is an all or nothing decision.

Donna: Im scared, but Im more scared for everyone else. Panna didnt deserve this! Neither did anyone else! I want it to stop, daddy! I dont care that I have to leave school! It’s not fair that bad guys get away with this!

Adrian/Alina: *giving a sad smile, being sad that they couldn’t give their kids a perfect life, but grateful that they’ve raised courageous children.*

Adrian and Alina went on to explain the situation further to make absolutely sure Donna and Luigi understand the ramifications of what comes next.

Hi again! Just wanted to know your opinion on the Pokemon villains, especially towards a chance of redemption. I think the only villains that kinda got redeemed was Archie and Maxie, learning that what they did was a mistake ( a little too late tho) and maybe Colress ( being the true neutral he is), through the Alola games. But yeah, what's you're opinion on them?

I’ve been sitting on this ask for a bit just trying to gather my thoughts. To be honest, the Pokemon Villains are some of my least favorite aspects of the games, mainly because in my opinion they’re rarely handled well (except for original Team Plasma and Team Skull, those guys are amazing and I except no slander of either)

I’ll start with Team Rocket. They have a very basic but realistic evil goal (especially in a setting as fantastic as the world of Pokemon). I honestly can’t say I dislike them. I would like to see more teams using their concept of just taking advantage of Pokemon for profit and selfish reasons rather than trying to tie in some philosophy (because to be honest in my opinion most of the teams who try to use philosophy to justify their extremism just end up looking really stupid for the most part). I like Kanto Team Rocket better than Johto’s plot and Rainbow Rocket was only good for the “what if” aspect and adding to the new multiverse lore. As far as redemption...I don’t think Giovanni or the grunts really deserve it.

For Team Aqua and Team Magma, I actually like them in a “so bad it’s good” type of way (definitely nostalgia based as even though I got into Pokemon during the original anime, I didn’t get to play a main game until  gen 3). Like the idea of having two separate evil teams competing against each other to see who can enact their plans first is a super cool concept in my opinion but wasted on the idiocy of the “expand the land/expand the sea” goals. I will say I enjoyed their Emerald enhanced plot and ORAS’s expansion on them in the Delta Episode. I think the Emerald clash of Kyogre and Groudon was the most logical conclusion to their schemes. As far as redemption goes, I do think Maxie and Archie should’ve served some jail time like Chairman Rose because their plan was just as catastrophic if not more so.

For Team Galactic, ugh. They’re my second least favorite. They were just boring and made an already painfully slow game even more intolerable. This is where I give the Pokemon Anime credit, they made them more interesting in the games and I actually really loved how it was adapted (proof that when they want to the anime can have some really solid writing). Redemption for them? Nope, you literally tried to rewrite the world. Even with Cyrus’ tragic backstory...still nope.

Now for Team Plasma. This is how you do an evil team. Easily one of my favorite teams to actually go up against in game. I like that they actually tried to tackle an ethical question with Pokemon in Team Plasma.  N was a fantastic antagonist and I’m glad he saw the light at the end and he definitely deserves the redemption. And all of the Team Plasma grunts who actually believed in N’s goal deserve redemption. I really enjoyed what they did in BW2 where they had the Plasma House with the misguided former grunts and the confrontation between the old team plasma and Neo Team Plasma about how ostracized the reformed grunts are. Although I don’t like Neo Team Plasma as much (although the outfits are 100 times cooler), it does make sense that the ones still loyal to Ghetsis would try for another attempt. Also it took me a second runthrough of White 2 to really appreciate Colress and his “this is for science” mantra but you know what, I love him. Him and N are really awesome and deserve the redemption. Ghetsis can go jump in a fucking volcano though, him and his followers (:  As for Team Flare, they suffer a lot from not getting a sequel or third version. But like Team Galactic the anime adaptation did a lot of good for them. Team Flare is like Team Aqua/Magma for me in that I think they’re so bad it’s actually good. They actually had some funny dialogue bits and there was actually a lot of potential for them storywise if we had of gotten another Kalos game. The Great War, and AZ all had a lot of potential. Plus having an Elite 4 member working with them? That was more of a twist than Lysandre being the boss. And the Xerosic post-game plot was heartbreaking. Redemption wise though, it’s kind of hard to do with a group who literally tried to nuke the world. 

Team Skull. I love these guys. I love them so much. This is another example for me personally of an evil team done right. I really liked how they weren’t even evil, just frustrated youth who were failed by Alola’s tradition. Like I could seriously go on about how toxic the Alolan community really is if the fact that a child failing the island challenge (a coming of age journey) somehow makes them feel so down about themselves and feel like rejects to the point they join a literal gang to find some sort of belonging (this is of course not talking about the origins of Team Skull being from a disgraced Kahuna who incurred the wrath of the tapus). Like I feel so sorry for them and I wanted to yell at the Kahunas in game for them not recognizing that their traditions were creating the Team Skull problem. Team Skull definitely deserved their redemption as they reformed in the post game

Aether Foundation though, ugh. Easily my least favorite. I really disliked the Aether Family as a whole as I felt they were invasive to the plot and that the focus should’ve been on team skull and how traditions while important can have harmful consequences. I will say it was nice to have female antagonist and I vastly prefer SM Lusamine to USUM Lusamine. USUM Lusamine was more redeemable but she was less interesting and USUM really screws up Lillie’s development which I dislike (which is saying something because I really can’t stand Lillie). 

Team Yell was a disappointment. Honestly there was so much potential because like Team Skull they are a very grounded team (as you can see, I like the grounded in reality teams more so than the philosphical extremist ones). Like I can totally understand why they would form considering how dilapidated Spikemuth is. The issue is that they aren’t given a chance to do much actual evil. Even though Team Skull wasn’t really all that bad, they still did bad things. Which is realistic given their desperation. As desperate as Team Yell was to get Marnie to become champion I was expecting more sabotage and outright hostility. Which while being bad, would be realistic given their situation. That and the fact that no one really calls out the fact the irony of their sabotage actually delegitimizing Marnie’s strengths as a trainer. Like is Marnie truly one of the strongest trainers from the gym challenge or were their people who could’ve beat her who got targeted by Team Yell and ultimately dropped out? Not to mention the implications of ongoing beef between Team Yell and Chairman Rose. Again so much potential wasted. If they had of just made them just a tad more hostile and had someone point out how they were unintentionally making Marnie look bad, they’d easily be one of my favorites.

Macros Cosmos. I think this was the team most screwed over by the plot, and the controversial anime adaptation did them only a few favors. I’ve said this before, but the royal twins historical manipulation plot was more interesting than Rose’s “I’m going to start the Galarian Apocalypse to save Galar” plot. And the sad part is Rose could’ve been a very compelling antagonist. I’ll say that if they really wanted to make Rose an antagonist, they could’ve taken away the Eternatus plot and just used his poor communication skills to cause problems for the gym leaders and champion. A bad boss with impatience and crappy communication skills is something many people can relate to, and I think would’ve been a more interesting plot than trying to force philosophical extremism on to him because.

And lastly the Royal Twins. Man I hated them, but also they’re some of my favorite antagonists. I think people at times look solely at their goofy hairstyles and entitledness and forget how dangerous these two actually were. They had a whole network of spies loyal to them? Imagine a game with them as the main protagonists where it gets to the point you can’t trust the NPCs because who knows which one supports them. Also their historical revision plot is something so relevant today with textbooks being written in a way to minimize horrible atrocities such as the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Granted their plot in game left a lot to be desired, but they had so much potential and honestly a better reasoning to want to awake Eternatus than Rose did. As you can see I prefer the more grounded teams such as Rocket, Plasma, Skull and Yell (in theory) and the Royal Twins given how their goals relate to the real world. I also think in many ways Gamefreak does better with those plots wiriting wise than the philosophical extremist teams.

Rating Walls Lyrically

AKA the hardest thing I did this week

Disclaimer - it's physically impossible for me to dislike a Louis song but I do place them differently based on their lyrical genius.

12. Perfect Now - She is a little too corny and no Louis I don't want to be reminded of the fact that I can be perceived as a physical entity. Funnily enough, despite this, it has one of my most favorite lines in the whole album - don't you wanna dance just a little dance, you never stop given half the chance.

11. Too Young - Put together the song makes me emotional as hell because of his voice and the meaning behind it but just in terms of its lyrics, I don't think there's anything particular that does justice to Louis's lyrical capabilities. The song's best lyrical moment is Louis breaking my heart over and over again by reminding me that he was once too young to know he had everything.

10. Don't Let it Break Your Heart - This is this low not because it's bad but just because there are better songs on the album when it comes to lyrics. Also, I wanted him to write a bridge which he didn't. Louis WHY?!?!?! The best lyrical moment of the song is of course Louis being a source of strength by reminding us that we are indeed driving down a road to something better.

9. Always You - She is the undisputed pop queen of the album and I will dance to it everytime it comes along. I go feral over the mention of usage of word Home and whoever is wrapping their legs around Louis is one lucky person. I sometimes don't know how I have survived that knowledge that this is something that happens in Tomlinson household. The lack of a different bridge kills a girl :( and hence the rank.

8. Kill My Mind - At this point, I am already regretting my decision to make this list because KMM deserves so much better but he managed to write better songs than this. BLAME HIM. BLAME HIS MIND. The lack of the bridge once again is :( but this song is the hottest thing on the album. KEPT ME LIVING FROM THE LAST TIME FROM A PRISON OF A PAST LIFE !?! ON A MISSION JUST TO FEEL LIKE WHEN YOU KISSED ME FOR THE LAST TIME!?!? Gonna rob a bank just so I can make out to this lyric. For legal purposes, this is a joke.

7. We Made It - Do I want to shout we made it on tour with Louis till I lose my voice, absolutely yes. Love the nostalgia and the hope and devastation this song brings me. WMI ofcourse has one of the most heartbreaking lines on the album in "oh god what I could've become don't know why they put all of this on us when we were so young" and I have no other reason of putting it this low except that this is not Louis on his best.

6. Habit - As I am typing this, I am crying becuase I love this song so much but I have had to place it on number 6?!?! Tomlinson, when are you paying me for emotional distress!??? No faults, BEST CHORUS ON THE ALBUM. Imagine being that fundamental to someone's life. The way he sings GOD I AM MISSING YOU AND YOUR ADDICTIVE HEART!?!? I have to scream in the void. Brb in a moment.

5. Fearless - If you put me in jail for this I will not stop you because *Taylor Swift voice* in my defence I have none. Oh to hear Louis introspect/diss about the dangers of fame and the power of youth. Also, to the tumblr user who has made the fearless*louis holding a dandelion edit, I owe you many breakdowns. Fun fact: Karl Marx has declared from the afterlife that he wanted Fearless to be the unveiling anthem of the Communist Manifesto and he is incredibly proud of Louis for writing this.

4. Two of Us - No comments except I am very proud of Louis for being brave enough to share this profound, evocative and raw side of his life. Thank you.

3. Defenceless - This ranking is an invitation for bloodbath, I know. But wow, what a lyrical moment on the album. The imagery, the metaphors, the vulnerability. Top notch. Louis maybe sleeping on his problems like he will solve them in his dreams but I didn't sleep peacefully for a week after I heard that he just is too tired to be tough and just wants to be loved. Universe better be taking note or there will be some problems.

2. Only The Brave - I think I can hear the whispered chants of "she's gone insane" for not placing this song as the Valedictorian. I share the sentiment just so we are all aware. This song has given me so much brain damage in the last year that I don't have thoughts left. The only reason it's on second is because Louis admitted that he didn't have a lot of input in the writing process of it.

1. Walls - *ba dum tsh* after much ado and painstaking effort, I present to you my favorite song Louis has written for the album. The title track is Louis's lyrical genius in all its glory and I feel every possible emotion every time I listen to the song. The verses, the pre-chorus, the chorus, the bridge, the outro - ALL IMMACULATE. I love growth and pain when it's presented to me in this delicious form. Here's reason 2828 why walls is incredibly special to me.

death tw, drug use tw, postpartum depression tw / freya comes from a family that has plagued irving for years with their stunning reputation on both her father and mother’s side. death or jail was the common theme there. father, conrad ‘willie’ nilsen, was a menace and there was more than enough stories about him from his heyday. mother, holly koch, came from a family where everyone was constantly at each other’s throats. holly dealt with the drama of it all through defiance. she fell for willie hard and fast and was soon caught up in his world, drugs and petty crimes. as was common in both willie and holly’s familues, an accidental teenage pregnancy was the next step. at first, willie was ecstatic and supportive in the way that he usually got. holly moved out of her family’s place at delphinus creek and into a trailer with him at lilac ridge. of course, willie was flaky and asshole-ish and it only took him three months to disappear from town. a pregnant holly still caught up in love did her best during those months of pregnancy. she remained clean, worked to pay rent, and believed willie would be back any day. her younger sister, fiona, who adored and looked up to holly was there to help every step of the way. freya was eventually born and willie never showed up. holly fell into a deep postpartum depression and had to be moved back in home with her mother and her siblings. she couldn’t care for freya at all. a month and a half later, willie returned to irving and holly was ecstatic despite the initial abandonment. and soon after that, both of them were gone, leaving freya behind. / end tw

it’s not as if her parents suddenly disappeared from existence, although freya prefers to pretend that they did. it’s easier to deal with them as nondescript figures in her life. and, at the end of the day, they ditched her. in reality, collect calls from correctional facilities let her figure out that her dad’s been locked up. memories of a woman in youth that looked so much like her and so much like fiona proved that holly was still in and out in irving. freya also remembers that holly never acknowledged her as her own before disappearing once more. she never figured out if it was done purposefully or if it was because that’s just the way her mother functioned. that being said, all potential contact with either parent was short and brief and freya learned to not let it mean anything. there hasn’t been any substantial contact for years now either way. her dad’s in prison. her mother’s missing. 

freya grew up under the care of her grandmother at first, a bitter woman with a husband long dead, who resented having to look after this baby. that only lasted a handful of years ‘cause soon enough, she wasn’t fit and sent off to a nursing home. fiona, who was of age at that time, took guardianship of freya at lilac ridge or at whichever boyfriend’s home.

fiona raising freya was more of a weird friendship/sibling sort of relationship rather than a proxy mother-daughter one. that meant freya had too much freedom, but it also meant there were a lot of screaming matches between the pair and a lot of times freya was left directionless. her aunt also loved serial dating so there were a lot of strange men in and out. not the most reputable guys either, but truth be told those men were providing them with financial support, so fiona was never quick to let them go despite the way things would go sour.

very independent. freya has a lot of practical smarts, although most of the time it’s used for nothing good (knows how to shoplift without getting caught, can talk her way out of most things, knows how to get what from who). she’s someone who does what she wants. discipline is foreign to her and god forbid if anyone tries it. in typical teenage fashion, heightened by the fact that life was set up for her to fail, she’s always had this aura of apathy. her general approach to life is to accept it as it is but make sure she’s having as much fun as possible. of course, as most people do, there was an inkling of yearning there. the shiny gold possibility that she didn’t have to become another nilsen-koch irving deadbeat staple hung at the back of her mind. that she could possibly get out and have some dreams was encouraged by a few teachers. so she ended up trying as much as she could possibly try in her last few years of high school and proved to herself that she wasn’t completely useless. although, it was soon clear that getting into a good out-of-state college required more than just making an attempt — extracurriculars and money and other obvious yet non-obvious things that freya lacked. at the end of the day, her best option was a local college, which wasn’t a defeat by any means cause she had made it and it was college. still, she was stuck too close to irving. she decided to major in business. good at numbers and can talk the talk baby.

kind of always has her foot out the door though. it didn’t take long for freya to fall back into old habits because her life is her life. there’s always a lack of money, another toxic man fiona’s caught up with, another wrench thrown in the works. her education became spacey and full of cracks. she never made it to graduation, dropping out a few semesters in. unfortunate bc she’s the kind of person who could accomplish things if she cared or tried, but the problem is that she does not and no, she will not ask for help <3 she refuses to take anything seriously.

instead of school, she spent time on the road. she had it in her mind to visit her dad in prison in louisiana, not knowing really why she had that urge. maybe it was to properly meet him, ask about her mother, curse him out. but, she never ended up making it out there. instead she got caught up in a few things and with a few people and at the end of the day she once again just didn’t follow through.

now back at irving, freya’s at her usual job at cutie pie’s as a waitress (wanda has a soft spot for her thankfully so there’s always a place for her). she’s moved out of fiona’s place at delphinus heights, mostly bc freya was sick of dealing with her aunt’s disgusting boyfriends, and into the same trailer that was supposed to be willie and holly’s family home in lilac ridge. she found out that fiona had been making payments on the place, expecting holly to return at any time. from childhood, fiona had held her older sister in revere although frankly freya doesn’t get it. told her aunt off for wasting money like that, but still took the trailer off of fiona’s hands, so. shrugs my shoulders.

Plague Rat Chapter 3

Three months later…

 “Hello and welcome to Channel Eight! I’m Erica, bringing you the news!”

 “Today we are speaking of what is now called ‘the Plague of Truth’, brought upon us by the Akuma Plague Rat.

 Due to the Akuma’s powers of infecting people with a deadly virus resembling the Black Plague but targeting liars, many secrets came about. And many consequences have occurred. The most high profile ones are the former mayor, his wife and a dozen city officials who are now closing ranks and trying to-“ Marinette turned off the TV and closed her eyes.

 After she had been purified, the girl had been horrified at her actions, feeling ill and disgusted. She had done that? She had attacked people? She had nearly…

 Luckily there was a therapist employed by the hospital that sat with her and spoke with her. He was open and honest and she had a lot off issues she usually kept locked up. 

 He helped her speak of them and confront them. Helped her understand her issues. Helped her realize how many were people putting things on her and expecting things if her when they shouldn’t. 

 She still didn’t feel okay. Knowing what she did made her feel sick, but her classmates where there. Alix spoke with her softly, the girl knowing she had killed one. Kim spoke of rewatching his actions and feeling horrified. Rose shuddered at what she had done.

 It helped. 

 More so, honestly, it helped knowing that her actions had exposed Lila and a lot of corruption. Not only had she hit the mayor, she’d hit the commissioner, Audrey, Nadja and a bunch of others. 

 Andre had been removed from office and was now facing trial for his crimes. The commissioner had been removed from office along with Roger being fired and were also facing charges. Rumors said they would probably get ten years at least.

Audrey was going away for child abuse, corruption and the abuse of her staff. She had admitted everything and Chloe had been removed from their care in a second, being placed with an aunt on the other side of Paris who hadn’t spoken to her sister in years and had never cared to. The aunt had agreed to take Chloe in but had warned the girl she would not put up with any of her actions.

 Marinette hadn’t heard anything since as Chloe had been expelled by the new principal that had replaced Damocles when the fact he was being bribed came out. Bustier had also been replaced. Marinette wasn’t sad to see them go- even if it was only recently she could go back to school after the shock to her system becoming an Akuma had been. It wrecked her metabolism again and she’d been stuck in a bed for months.

 Luckily, there was a friendly nurse around who was happy to take over for Akumas. Marinette has the best time hearing her rant about magic and how stupid it was she couldn’t tell who Ladybug was when she was in the hosptial. Often right in front of her door.

 Tikki found it hilarious to.

 But she had finally left the hospital and Tikki said she could go back to fighting, something she was glad about. She missed it, not that she’d admit it.

 But before that, there was a trial to be had.

 “So you willingly did it-“

 “I did.” Alya interrupted the lawyer. “I willingly exposed her to sick children but that was at the urging of Lila who said she had to be lying. I believe the videos I’ve given show that.” Alya felt like a bug as everyone in the courtroom stared at her. She kept her chin up though. She would not be cowed by this lawyer Lila’s father got her. Apparently Lila’s nasty habits came from someone and that was her father. Her mother had been furious to know she was in contact with him and was not pleased by the lawyer but agreed to it.

 She didn’t want her baby in jail either.

 He was a good lawyer, knew how to come at things from all angles.

 But Alya had been Rena Rouge. The Fox Miraculous left marks deep in her soul, which made her slippery and sly. She had forgotten and gotten caught in lies herself, but she remembered now.

 And she would not yield. 

 “I wonder, if anyone actually knows that the reason she wants Marinette dead is because she called her out on her lies in college.” Snapped Alya, suddenly latching onto the thought. The lawyer blinked. “Didn’t know that? Lila is just angry that Marinette didn’t follow her around. That Marinette called her out.” The lawyer actually stepped back and turned to look at Lila who couldn’t hide her furious face fast enough. Alya smiled at her while the lawyer said he had to dismiss himself from the case now, his clients had been lying to him.

 Alya hadn’t been a good person for a while. She had followed a liar and had blinded herself to truth for a long time. But she had once been a hero, once been a good person. 

 She was going to start again.

 “So you thought it was like tabloids?” Dr. Shaw asked Adrien who sighed. 

 “Yeah I mean…” Adrien shook his head. “I don’t know. Maybe if I hadn’t known the truth I’d have believed hem but when I did I saw how stupid they were and they reminded me of the tabloids. I thought they’d figure it out themselves. I didn’t think she was hurting anyone.”

 “But she did. Her actions almost caused many of them to miss out on incredibly important opportunities for their futures. It was lucky your friend Marientte managed to convince them it was a good way to show case their skills to the supposed contacts Lila had.” The doctor said and Adrien winced.

 “I… I didn’t want her Akumatized again.”

 “And yet Marientte was.” Adrien looked down. “Adrien, if I can be very blunt- you despise conflict and prefer a passive approach to it. While disliking conflict is fine, and I encourage you not to seek it out, not confronting people who you know are in the wrong isn’t always the best idea.”

 “...” Adrien didn’t want to think about it anymore. But he had to. His father had made him go to therapy and Plagg had told him it was a good idea for him to do so. He needed to get over this. “It’s easier when it’s not me.” Adrien blurted our. “Online I mean.” He quickly covered. It was easy to confront people as Chat Noir. 

 “Then pretend you’re not Adrien when you confront people.” The therapist offered and…

 That was really good advice.

Two months later…

 “Hello and welcome to the new Ladyblog!” Alya grinned on the screen Marientte was watching. “As you know due to certain circumstances I left this blog for the last few months. This is due to Lila and her actions towards my classmate and my own actions. However, this is a new start. First and foremost- this blog will now only contain facts. I have three people to check over anything I post that’s an article and needed to be researched who will do so. I spoke with Ladybug and she’s agreed to an interview with all heroes providing they agree-“ that was the only small crack, a shadow of sadness. After Miracle Queen everyone know she’d been a hero, and seeing a new fox must hurt.

 Marientte though was just amused that Alya was such a good actor. Sure she no longer used the fox but she fit the Turtle very well. And Nino was a fine Dragon, while Luka was a great Fox and Kagami was an amazing Bee.

 It hadn’t been to hard to manage to have an interview with them- though all separate. It was enough to show Paris they were human to.

 Marinette smiled,  watching as Alya continued her speech. 

 Things had changed since she’d become Plague Rat. Lila was now in jail back in Italy. Youth jail but still. She would spend two years there before being released on parole for either ten years or for the rest of her life depending on her actions. While she had lost her first lawyer they had been assigned a second one who had managed to get a psychiatrist in to look at her. 

 The man said she was either a psychopath or a sociopath. They had tried to say that meant she was allowed to be free but that was ended when the doctor pointed out she knew what she was doing was wrong. She just didn’t care. 

 She wasn’t allowed back in France and apparently other countries had also banned her. She was forever stuck in Italy.

 The former mayor was also in jail. Five years, chance of parole in two and a half, maybe less depending on behaviour. Nadja had lost custody of Manon after it got out she routinely used the girl to gather info and had put her in risk multiple times. Audrey was in jail, Roger had lost his job and was on probation. 

 Paris had experienced a revolution after Plague Rat. The new mayor was a woman who took no shit and was a hardass who was happily funding the police to find Hawkmoth, and bring him down. The new commissioner had fired all corrupt cops- Roger had been part of this sweep- and now Paris was thriving.

 Adrien as well seemed to have changed. He had formally apologized to her for his inaction and he was taking steps to be able to confront people. He’d already had a fight with his father about being a model and had leaked to the press how Gabriel treated him. Gabriel was in therapy now and Adrien had a social worker doing random checks on him. 

 “I guess even Akumatized I’m a hero.” She remarked to Tikki who chuckled. 

 “Perhaps. But I like you as you.”

 “Same.” She still has nightmares about what she’d done. She still freaked out about the hospital. Hell she was still recovering months later from the stress of being Akumatized while suffering from sickness and a horrible immune system. 

 But she was doing better. She was moving forward.

 And that was all she could do.
