this is combining Ovid's Heroides and the Excidium Troie because I can't stop thinking of Hermes telling him not to be afraid. what the fuck!! Ares is wearing the crown that Paris gave him.

I have. thoughts. about Paris. he's almost got this Troilos parallel in my mind, that the event that defines him in detail exists in a lost narrative that we don't have (the Cypria), but everyone else knew. the event that defines Troilos is his death (murdered, butchered by Achilles, the violence of which haunts everything after. Achilles, child killer, you can't escape that!), and the event that defines Paris is the Judgement. what's a lost text but a kind of grave!!

idk I don't think that Paris before the Judgement would recognize himself after bc when you become god touched, it rearranges your guts. you become transformed in the worst way possible! how could you recognize yourself! but I also think that all the Parises after the Judgement would recognize each other because that event is so locked into the trauma of war and the scar it leaves on the land, it's like a scar on the narrative too. it exists like this forever, over and over again, so you exist like that forever too. Troy collects grief and despairs.

This originally started out as one of the panels of a sort of small comic thing where Cedric realises his hair is getting rather long and then he ties it up (I originally wrote the scene down in Google Docs and thought it would look nice drawn in the sketchy style I do). I can't believe it's taken me this long to notice but during Ruth's song just as she hits that final high note on the third 'just for once' you can hear the tune of Richie's I'm not a loser playing alongside her. It really gives the song its own standing against the other 'musical within a musical' style songs that preceded it in the earlier Hatchetverse productions. This song isn't separate from the show's core plot, but rather acts as Ruth's defiance against the 'loser' stereotype as she takes the spotlight for the first time and properly owns it.

And, on the more morbid note, Richie's tune playing behind her act of defiance perfectly foreshadows what's about to come next.

SO ABOUT LAST NIGHT.

I’ve known of starkid since they started up back in 2009. I watched parts of AVPM when I was literally three. Over the years, I came back to team starkid whether it be through The Firebringer Meme (for which they get paid $300 every time it’s used, thank us for making them rich/ref) or through the Potter series again. It wasn’t until 2019 when I actually jumped straight into the fandom and shocker, i stayed.

I’ve only been to one other concert before this one, and Innit was by far the best experience I’ve ever had. The energy was immense. The crowd was electric. It was THE best environment to be in. There hasn’t been a time I’ve felt safer in a crowd of people, especially in London.

And no. I still haven’t fully comprehended it. But what I have been able to comprehend is the fact I met some absolutely amazing people yesterday, including people I’ve been mutuals with for YEARS. So from me and my butterfly platform shoes, mwah ily starkid innit
