For those who don't understand, this is how ADHD works sometimes, at least for me.

Get an idea.

Start working on idea.

See something that reminds you of something else you wanted to do

Start working on the other thing

Come across something else that catches your attention

Invests time and attention on that thing

At least half an hour later, remember you were doing original idea

Continue working on original idea

15ish minutes later, remember other thing

Stop work on original idea and continue other thing

Somehow works on original idea and other thing at same time sorta.

Original idea initiates long spiral of work because you've hit a dead end and can't get passed this block and you consider it a challenge to get it done because while it's not essential to original idea, you want to have it for original idea.

An hour later, nothing has been done to move forward for original idea even though you've done a lot, and you realize you're hungry because you worked through mealtime.

Debate on continuing either project or leave them for another day.

Remember you forgot to take out the trash.

Go take out trash.

Come back. What was I doing?

Stomach growls.

Oh yeah. Get food.

Watch TV.

Forget both projects entirely until whenever.

What people congratulate me, an ADHD disaster, on:

Doing well at work

Completing a project

Hitting life milestones

What's actually difficult for me:

Keeping dishes kinda clean

Cleaning anything regularly tbh

Getting to bed at a reasonable time

Feeding myself enough food

Remembering to reach out to my loved ones

Motivating myself to refill my prescriptions/schedule appointments/etc

Stop congratulating me for doing things that are easy for me (attending a job that's structured into my day, completing projects that were interesting, doing stuff that there was pre-existing structure for) and start congratulating me when I'm a little less of a hot mess than normal 😅

Here's a reminder that Frank does not have adhd or dyslexia like most demigods, so he was stuck on the Argo II with at least five to six other teenagers with adhd at all times. I wonder what that was like for him...

something that might be useful to people, but i recently learned that what i thought had been part of auditory processing issues is actually receptive language issues. cause id always heard audio processing issues described as "difficulty processing what youre hearing", and assumed that having trouble processing the meanings themself was part of it. but apparently audio processing is more accurately described specifically as like, "having difficulty processing which words are being said". and i definitely experience that, but apparently having difficulty connecting correctly-heard words to their meanings is actually a receptive language issues thing rather than an audio processing issues thing.

like, ive described my receptive language issues before as like, if my brain is a lake, then the lake is frozen and the words im hearing are sitting right above the ice and wont sink in. i can perfectly recognize the words, but either it takes longer for the meaning to click, or it doesn't click/permeate deep enough for the meaning to be fully/intuitively understood, or in some cases the meaning just doesnt click at all.

and another way this differs from audio processing issues is that it can apply to written words also. so like, having to read a sentence several times before it stops being just a mental noise and starts meaning something. or having to double check written instructions just as much as id have to ask for clarification on a lot of vocal ones. and i hadnt connected this to the same thing happening with vocal words before but yeah, both part of receptive language issues

I really wanna get into drawing robots so I can draw my characters but lack experience. Decided the best way to go about it is to draw fanart of existing bots so I can learn like, what everyone else does. Lol

First bot to my mind was V1. I've drawn him before but never really drew with the intention of learning. Went ahead and took the first image I found and heavily ref'd it as I lazily sketched, allowing myself to make mistakes because hey, here to learn, not stress over perfect details.
