I was suddenly reminded of an ask the other day and I burst out laughing. Some anon used to make the rounds on BTS blogs when Taehyung's debut album release was near and the teaser to the music video of his title track got a million views in 7 secs or something, tying with Jungkook's mv teaser for Seven. Their "record" was the highest among the members and of course the fandom was rejoicing, trending "Taekook power couple/Taekook most successful duo" all day (and they became even more hyped up about Tae's album because it made them confident that Tae was gonna pull the same numbers as his husband and break records like he did. It's as if the fandom could finally BREATHE being assured that Taekook's debut would be bigger than Jimin, since they've always treated Jimin like competition and FACE era gave them sleepless nights)

That anon said it's very clear who are the most successful members of the group and that Taekook are each other's real competition. "It's sad to admit, I'm a Jimin stan but sometimes you just gotta be honestly with yourself. This is the reality. It is what it it is"

They were obviously lying about being a Jimin stan and that whole ask was just dripping with smugness - "it's obvious which two are the most popular and successful" lol

I wonder what anon would say now after Tae's debut. I wish there was a way to find out who they are so I'd rub the "reality" in their face. They'd never know peace.

These idiots still think the amount of views and likes is a measurement for true success. Like we don't know how shallow TK stans as well as Kpoppies are. All they care about are visuals; if they find a popular male idol hot, of course they'll always tune in fast to see how they look in a new project lmao

I really don't have anything to add, and everything you said it's true... there were a few months in 2022 where like every single day I'd get asks from kths talking about Taehyung's popularity and how he was so much better than Jimin in every way and every chart. Maybe they thought it was a thing of "fake it till you make it" and if they repeated enough times that he was popular, it would materialize in real life or streams.

i think she has a voice that's hard to get tired of and aside from having the strength and range, i absolutely love her vocal color because like you said, it's sultry but it can also be sweet and i personally love when idols have that variety because i find it really refreshing?

my favorite song is probably bad boy, sad girl or anywhere but home! i have this Problem where i can never choose one favorite and i'm always stuck between two, so trying to get me to choose one is seriously... a herculean task.

the mv isn't anything crazy or lore-packed like a txt one or the album trailer, which is what confuses me? i know sm isn't a label that heavily focuses on actual story-telling lore and there's nothing wrong with that, but the mv just has nothing to do with the trailer? i'm pretty sure they've done this before with their earlier artists like exo and changmin from tvxq, where they'll set the bar insanely high for themselves and then completely miss said bar; it's kind of like the equivalent of music and award shows putting all the highly-anticipated groups last to keep viewership lol. i know it wasn't the mv teaser so i can't be entirely upset about that, but i expected there to at least be some references to it, if any at all, because it really just plays like the choreography version of a music video with a few aesthetic shots thrown in here and there. then again, that could be attributed to the fact that seulgi's a dancer so it would make sense to focus on her dancing, but there's a very significant imbalance. i'm definitely not complaining though (edit: yes i am) because i really liked the styling and editing, i just wanted to see how they'd expand on the trailer. i remember seeing tweets about the concept and how a lot of the scenes revolved around asian folklore and superstitions, specifically about the ghost festival and how you can't do certain things because it'll attract spirits and some essentially invite them to possess you which led a lot of people to believe 28 reasons was going to be related to monster and that irene was the one who possessed seulgi. then there was this craze about how she looked like nanno from girl from nowhere or how the trailer was kind of like a horror movie and then we just see none of that... it definitely feels like a waste of potential but regardless, 28 reasons was stupidly good.

i watched the mv teaser and the album teaser beforehand, and it looked really cool! It looked like something out of a horror movie, and I was actually kinda expecting some lore to come out of this mv; but alas, nothing.

i feel like it would have been better if we got a performance video and an mv (like what bts did with on) so that we could’ve had something that related back to the teasers, and something that still catered to Seulgi as a dancer/performer— cause that choreography is amazing. But anyways, it really is kinda disappointing :( it’s a gorgeous mv (and Seulgi is just so damn fine) but the way that they fed us those cool ass thriller/horror-esque shots and then said oh!!! Nevermind!! Just UGH it even looked like a whole movie…

I would have LOVED if they had done something like txt’s eternity mv— literally one of my favorites, it was so gorgeous and gave us a lot of lore too. But like you said, sm isn’t really a company that focuses on giving their groups a solid story (cause what the fuck is going with kwangya). Which is really sad, because they have a loooot of potential to properly explore these concepts (Seulgi and Irene’s solo, taemin…. Taemin again because the theories I’ve read on him, oh my god.) but then again, I’ve never been too accurately up to date with a group’s lore, so maybe they do have a solid story that I don’t know about.

Seulgi’s voice is just so perfect and she has an amazing range, but I must make a confession; the bridge where she talks is just a tad bit corny to me, (just a tiny bit!!) but she gets a pass bc it’s her and she’s hot, but I’m not really a big fan of that R&B sultry talk out of no where… (trauma flashbacks to Johnny in beautiful) some songs really pull it off, like if you do by got7. 28 reasons is just so good and I’m trying my hardest to not overplay it tbh

Stray Kids' ODDINARY (I am deceased)

I said I would be back with a review of the album, and I am back with a review of the album, just probably 24+ hours later because it's late and I have school tomorrow, and I feel like I should proofread this before posting it on the internet.

AKA: yes, yes I did just write a thousand words on why my favorite kpop group's new comeback is amazing so I could post it on TUMBLR

Track 1: Venom - Overall rating: 9/10. This is FIRE, definitely title track material. I mean have had Hyunjin's "gomijul" stuck in my head since the first teaser, so all of my expectations have been fulfilled with this song. Pretty much it's amazing and you should go listen to it. Favorite part: Seungmin has these two lines right before the song ends that absolutely CAPTIVATED me. His vocal skills are definitely underestimated for the SHEER LEVEL they are on.

Track 2: Maniac - Overall rating: 8/10. I already wrote a whole review on this with my favorite parts, how each member did with the song, and my overall thoughts on the MV and song. The only reason it gets 8/10 rather than 10/10 is because Minho and Jeongin didn't get THAT MANY lines, but they still ate and left no crumbs so there's not a ton to complain about.

Track 3: Charmer - Overall rating: 7/10. Okay, ngl, this one threw me off a little bit. I'm used to the very fun, hype, almost "immature, party" vibes that skz gives off with their songs, and this was a little different than I expected. Of course, they experiment in their music a lot, so it wasn't a huge deal, and I really enjoy how they've expanded to do a sexier song, if that makes sense. I mean, their youngest member is 21 years old internationally, so they'll have to do quite a bit of maturing as time goes on, and if that really is what they were going for, they nailed it. I also really appreciate how experimentative (is that a word?) the raps sound, it's just very unique. Out of all the lines, I enjoyed Minho's the most (he just holds a special place in my heart), but my favorite part of the song was the INSTRUMENTAL, so good!

Track 4: Freeze - Overall rating: 9/10. I was looking forward to this one the most after the teaser dropped. I'm a simple person, I see fuel for a Mafia AU and I'm hooked. There's not much to say except that they did not disappoint. They showcased exactly WHY I love skz as much as I do, it's catchy, and I know it'll take forever for me to get sick of it, if I ever do. Also, bonus points for Seungmin and Jeongin's parts since I feel like they don't usually get that much attention on harder-hitting songs like this.

Track 5: Lonely St. - Overall rating: 10/10. The slap in the face I got when this song came on was the worst and also the best, if that makes sense. There are so many bops on this album and this one came out of nowhere to be a bop, but just the kind of bop you cry to. Bang Chan and Changbin wrote the lyrics, and you can really see how their personality shines through in their word choice. I'm not fluent in Korean, so I ended up reading the translations and I'm not even joking when I say I'm on the verge of tears. This is one of those songs where, as corny as it may sound to some, you can connect with the artist. The lyrics painted a picture that all of us are now able to gaze upon. It's not a sappy love song, it shows what struggles our boys have had to go through as kpop idols, living the life that they do. I can't say for sure what it's about, since I don't know them personally, but the line that really got me was "still astray", because, for one, they're Stray Kids. The whole point is that they were lost and found hope in each other. But just because the Stray Kids aren't completely alone now doesn't mean they aren't still Stray Kids. Even as successful as they are, even with each other, they can still be "astray". And that just hits different in some sort of way. I could talk for hours about the song, but I'll just say that for now. Also, Changbin's vocals in the beginning are GOLD.

Track 6: Waiting for Us - Overall rating: 10/10. Another sad bop, yet surprisingly wholesome. I don't know how to describe this song, but it wormed its way into my heart and holds a special place there now. I can already see myself finding so many different ways to relate with this song, and I know it will cheer me up on bad days. This is the kind of song I would want at my wedding, if I ever get married, y'know? It just feels so comforting and relatable.

Track 7: Muddy Water - Overall rating 6/10. Now, I was super excited to listen to this one, just because of the whole "Shrek" joke that went around with the title reveal + teaser posters. However, I think my expectations for the vibe of the song were a little off. I think it's safe for me to say that this song is my least favorite on the album, though this does not mean it's bad, it's just not the type of song I'm used to listening to. However, I find the lyrics really clever, and it feels like something that will grow on me over time, so there's not too much for me to say right now.

General consensus: THIS IS AN AMAZING ALBUM WTF. It's distinctly Stray Kids, it has a song for every type of Stay, it showcases why we love these boys so much, and it will be on repeat for the next several weeks in my house and other's. The general vibe is a little different than their past albums, but it's so incredibly them. I think it would be a good example of what makes Stray Kids, well, Stray Kids. It may not be the best album for getting into skz, but it's great after getting to know them a little bit.

by ensembles you mean clothes right? u gotta be more specific anon ask me about specific outfits or eras!!

he has such a long established team that even tho it's not him picking the individual pieces the looks are always 100% taemin and representative of his view of himself and his career and the world he navigates at the time he was making that album. i feel like for every comeback when he's first putting together the concept he has like vague ideas (masks, cut outs, asymmetry, gloves, etc) for what he wants and it's his like entire artistic presence that's so strong that his team knows exactly which brands to go for which cuts look good on him and how they'll tie his concept together. i could write essays on the outfits for the idea mv alone and in fact have just very incoherently in my texts to yaejin lol. i've been thinking about it a lot how the figure of taemin as an artist (same with shinee as artists) is it's own entity that generates so much on its own creativity and momentum simply because it's an iconic fixture of korean culture that the staff knows they're playing an important part in. there's something about true performers that inspire their whole team (hundreds of staff) to do their best to complete the picture of the next stage of their career and the way it shapes taemin is absolutely incredible. also a testament to the communal culture of the korean entertainment industry as opposed to the western one where i feel there's so much emphasis on the celebrity as an individual that does everything on their own without even trying and erases the labor and creative work of their staff a lot of the time.

the kinds of themes that his clothes address are very tied to perception and that shows in how much skin he's covering and how and for what affect. like when he shows a single elbow in want it's to be sexy and teasing and when he covers his face it's to make u question his identity and for the advice teasers the beige sheer shirt is about having turned over a new leaf after the ngda saga and being natural and open but still protected the amount that he wants to be.

other ways clothes relate to his concepts are like patterns shapes and silhouettes especially wrt gender and how it contrasts or goes with his choreo.

like for advice it's looking like a boxier masculine broad shouldered look which he's never rly gone for before and it's SUPER INTERESTING with the long hair cuz it's the reverse of his usual mode of androgyny which is short hair but slender body line. of course for MOVE it was his signature arms as accessory look with a broader silhouette vs his most feminine dance.

100% agree with you about being disappointed by the producers for the upcoming track. I am already anticipating this being another like 2 min long song with what I can only call rap "teasers" as they are only a couple seconds long. I understand wanting singles to follow "trends" in the music industry but idk if you watched Lee Hyun's reaction vid to Butter but Pdogg expressed the issue with these shorter, mainstream tracks so well and it was nice to hear he felt similarly, that there is not enough room to show what the members are capable of and their diff styles and personalities. Half of me is like, okay, fine, I understand why they're doing this but the other half is like...you're the biggest band in the world do you really have to worry about following trends? I guarantee if they released a self-produced single that was 4 or 5 min long it would blow up just as big as any of these other songs.

I'm just ranting but idk. I should be happy bc my friends who didn't listen to BTS loved Dynamite and Butter and they'll prob love this new song too if it's following that pattern, and they are songs I enjoy listening to like it's impossible not to get either stuck in your head and they do make me happy but it's not showing what they are truly capable of. It makes me frustrated bc while they ARE good songs they are not showcasing the members' full potential to new fans. My friends are now paying attention, are for the first time asking me about their music, asking me to send the singles and MVs when they drop, asking me who is who, etc. when they see them pop up on their twts, but they're not going back to listen to old songs or the rest of their discography on their own, they're listening to what gets dropped in their laps next and if I were BigHit I would want to use that captive audience and give them a song that truly shows off the members' talents and shows the diversity in their discography. And I recognize to a certain extent they ARE thinking that, but they're thinking "we got their attention, let's KEEP IT" by repeating the same steps. I mean I showed my friends some of their other music, including other singles, and they were SHOCKED to find out they weren't producing just catchy little pop songs and that BTS has dipped their toes in so many different genres.

I guess what I'm saying is, I know short pop songs are always going to have mass appeal, I know hundreds of pop songs that I will belt out in a car on a summer drive, that I know all the words to bc I've heard them a hundred times and they always make me feel good and they always get me dancing, but you know what? I cannot for the life of me tell you who wrote half those songs or what the titles of them are or what album they're from and if I do know those things, I couldn't tell you another song from those artists. I might love those songs but I never bothered to go look for more and I just don't want that temporary high to happen to the boys, I guess.

I made a lot of assumptions about this new song we haven't even heard yet, I could be way off base here. For all I know it will be a longer song with great raps and the memebers will have participated in the lyrics, I could be eating my words but idk all my frustration just came out haha.

beautifully said! i wish i had more time to sit down and type out a full, thought out response to this and i'm sorry i don't, but i just want to thank you for taking the time to share these thoughts with me. i haven't seen Lee Hyun's reaction yet, but i've been meaning to. it's interesting that P Dogg feels the same! there's lots of things i'd want to pick his brain about lol and i also want to preface this by saying i do love butter and dynamite and i know i'm going to love this song too; they're so happy and excited for it which makes me happy and excited for it too, i just am feeling a bit down about the producer list. i just want them all to know they can be just as successful if not more with doing more "in house." i was watching a reactor last night who commented how early bts felt so grassroots, and how that was a huge ingredient to their success. i know growth and change happens but i just want a summer single that'll top the charts to be more their own. i feel like bighit was trying so hard for that grammy and the grammys still screwed them over. i just want them to have that success and number one charting song for a song that isn't necessarily there to fit a mold. but!! seeing their vlive did make me really excited for the new song because they themselves are excited and at the end of the day, i just want their happiness. thank you again for sharing this and i'm sorry i'm not able to respond more at the moment

Jaebum and Jinyoung managed to get away from the center of their small town where most of the people lie down as if they are dead. The older of the two did not know how it happened, all he knew was there was a sudden light. At first he thought it was from the healing magic he was trying to cast but seeing his surroundings, it clearly wasn't. Two young boys hid by one of the houses that hasn't been destroyed by King Jean's men. They were both exhausted from running away. Jaebum clutches the still shaking Jinyoung in his arms. "Hyung... what happened to the people?"

The younger sniffed and looked up to his companion. "Wasn't it you? I-I felt this really powerful magic from you. Just like from the books I read." Jaebum's eyes widened as he heard Jinyoung's words. He had a feeling it was him but he didn't really want to believe. Looking at his hands stained by his father's dried blood, he thought: was that the magic Pa has been talking about? Now that he had calmed a bit, he felt it. There was something inside him. A strange warm feeling.

"Hyung...?"

Tears poured out of Jaebum's eyes. The regret, the mourning, and anger all at once came to him. He may have finally opened his soul, tapped that power his father always believed that was in him. But...but he's gone. When he have finally achieved his Pa's dreams, it was all too late.

"Don't cry hyung. We'll get through this. Together."

Jinyoung enveloped his friend in a tight hug, trying to ease the pain and comfort him a little. Jaebum sobbed in his arms, he felt himself crying all over again. Dilfae, their hometown and its people were no more and they have nowhere to go.

Days have passed after the seize in their hometown. Jaebum was sure that their people were alive before they left. They were unconcsious but they'll live. Maybe. He doesn't know either. He felt their magic pulses enough to tell, but maybe it was only a resonance of his magic afterall. Shaking his head, Jaebum cannot afford to think of his fallen town anymore; for the sake of the younger one, he must be strong. Both travelled far, forest to forest; a lake after another. Dilfae was a lone town in the middle of wilderness, the nearest civilization is far ahead north and that's where the two planned to go to.

"Hyung. I'm tired. Can we rest for a bit?"

"Yeah sure, it's quite late as well. Let's get some sleep before we continue. I'm sure the next town is just a few miles away."

Jinyoung slept peacefully beside the woodfire as Jaebum takes guard for the night. Before leaving their town, he gathered few weapons from King Jean's soldiers and kept them. He'll need them if ever creatures or bad men come to attack them. Fortunately none had done it yet. Jaebum looked at the small dagger he saw on the dirt before and tucked it to his pocket. He was planning to give it to Jinyoung when he wakes up. He looked at the sleeping face of the younger one and smiled to himself. He'll do everything in his might to protect this kid.

Three more days of just lush forest passed until they have finally seen the big arch of a town. The town of Enre was lively and prosperous. It was so much like Dilfae but also very different. It was richer. It amazed Jinyoung to see people not wearing cheap cloths like they do in their town. His eyes shine in amazement as they both walk more towards the center of Enre. The market was buzzing with people. It was full of all kinds of things that they don't have in Dilfae. Even Jaebum's mouth was agape as he sightsees the market. "Woah... This place...It's amazing." Everytime they turn their heads, more delectable food come their way. The air even smelt like delicious food being cooked. It made both of their stomachs to grumble. They haven't had any decent meal in a while. Jaebum patted his pocket to feel the coins he managed to salvage from soot in their house. Maybe this can do.

"Let's eat shall we?"

Jinyoung's bright smile melted his heart. "Yeah!"

KAI'S SOLO ALBUM IS FINALLY OUT!!! I was and I still am so hyped, haha. I really liked Hello Stranger too from the audio teasers and next to Mmmh it's really become my favourite track of the album. but the others are really really great too. Jongin did such an amazing job and he can be so proud of himself ❤🎉 Did you listen to the whole album already? Is there a song you especially like?

And the MV omg 😱💗 perfection. as expected from our performance king, really. all the different settings and how they included his teleportation powers.. I really like the whole superpower concept so I literally went crazy about this, haha. But Ari, as a Kyungsoo and Minseok biased person..... how are we feeling after this ending sequence?!?! I literally held my breath when I saw their symbols 🙊 they'll be back soon, I'm so happy 💕

oH, I think I landed a lucky guess, hehe. I just really went with my gut feeling when it came to guessing your house xD but hey, nice to know it was right 😁 but real talk: i didn't realize how young I am either before I looked up when the movies where released exactly 🙊 since I read the books in my childhood too I always felt like a part of the "Harry Potter Generation" when I am actually a whole generation later ajsbdbhd. but for real, age doesn't matter on tumblr anyway xD oh damn yes, Lupin as a werewolf was so unbelievably crappy I tend to push that memory out of my head lol, but what I really liked is that the characters looked like I had imagined them while reading in this movie. and hey the might have totally screwed up the werewolf (I don't even want to call it that, even exo's wolf mv showed us better werewolves xD), Buckbeak really impressed me the first time I watched the movie. Oh The Order of the Phoenix!! I kind of have a love-hate-relatoinship with that one because I had such struggles to get through it when I read it the first time. I don't remember how I old I was when I first read it but the book was kind of boring to me at that time. nowadays, I don't think so anymore but that's just really the impression that stayed over the years 🙊

Oh dear... the significance of Oktoberfest... somehow, people from Bavaria (the part of Germany the festival takes place in) always celebrated something in early October but the official origin is the wedding party of some Bavarian Prince 200 years ago. It actually was a horse race at first but over the years it became a festival with many more events. These days, I'm not even sure how many people actually attending Oktoberfest know about the backstory of it. It's basically just about drinking beer. Lots of it. And wearing traditional bavarian clothing and listening to traditional music. Brewing beer is a tradition Germany treasures a lot so of course it probably was also part of it in the festival's early years, just like the clothing and music, but... for real, even us Germans only know it as a drinking festival too.

Some are celebrating it for the entire time span and apparently have the time of their lives there but there are also many people (including me) who don't really get the fun of it or approve of it in any way. I'm no anti-alcohol person or something but the stories and news about it every year are just shocking and disgusting. So, I have never been there and I'm really not planning on going any time in the future. It's just... not my kind of party. 😅

Oh, it's nice to hear you had a good time with your cousin 😊 in general, your family's Thanksgiving tradition sounds like a really fun time. Being together with everybody must be a lot to take in but also really nice, especially if you didn't see some of your close family members for a while. Do you and your expanded family meet often or is Thanksgiving your date to meet and catch up on everybody?

Oh my weekend was pretty fine, I baked the first Christmas cookies with my family because it's our little ritual to do it on the first advent since my mom's childhood days ^-^ I hope you had a good start into your week too ♡

Yaaasssss Annonie! OK so OOF Nothing On Me is on REPEAT adslkfja I find it so so catchy UGH so good. Easily that one is my favorite track from the album. Mmmh and Hello Stranger are also 👌👌👌. The other songs, I had to warm up to them a little if I’m 100% honest lol but after listening to the album a couple of times I came to like them more (*^▽^*) AND EXCUSE ME BUT THE CHOREO IN THIS MV? THE VISUALS? yo leave it to Jongin. That one scene where (idk how to describe it but) hes like dancing and teleporting into little flecks DUDE its the neatest thing ever. The only thing that kind of made me laugh a lil was that whole like, futuristic cowboy thing LOL I didn’t dig that lil concept scene. but even there, that face chain?! 🥵🥵 OOF. Sexy

Annonie. ANNONIEEE. I shed LITERAL TEARS with that teaser at the end of the music video OMG (if you can even call it a teaser but ANYWAYS). WAAAH (ಥ_ಥ) WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?! But! on the topic of Exo solos, which ones are your favorite of the Exo’s solo albums Annonie? I’m curious!

If I may say, you are SO cute Annonie akfjhakjh but yes, agreed, both tumblr and HP are ageless 😊. But yes! For the most part the visuals were pretty good! (even tho, I’m not going to lie, the fact that Harry had blue eyes and not Lily Potter’s green eyes greatly bothered me LOL)(OH AND ALSO I imagined Sirius to be a lot more handsome aldkfjaslasdfj according to the book he was HOT right??!) 😅 But I kindof understand that you found the OOTP a little boring. I remember that at first I found the Goblet of Fire a little boring. Thats why I didn’t read the OOTP until way later than it came out and what do you know? I loved it 😊 lol.

Oh ok lol I was wondering if there was some deeper significance to it but I guess not! The traditional clothing is super cute tho! Atleast what I've seen in pictures 😅 not sure how accurate it is. But yeah, beer is great but weeks of beer celebration sounds a bit excessive tbh LOL

With my family that lives in Miami we do see each other pretty often and honestly we're pretty close! Atleast with the family members of my mom's side. My dad's side not at all LOL. But I do have family scattered that I don't see often... Hopefully early next year we'll be able to see some of the distant family members since there are 2 weddings happening early 2021 😌💖
