PART 2 OF 2
“Good. You’re in one piece.”
“‘Scuse me?” Leo asked, bewildered. He looked back towards the darkness he’d come from, but it was gone. There was only vast nothingness around them, a grayish white that stretched on for eternity.
“I’m Atlas,” the turtle greeted, holding out a hand. “You must be Leonardo.”
“Yes…?” Leo slowly took his hand and shook it. “I don’t know what’s going on, but I need to get back–”
“You can’t,” Atlas said simply. His expression softened, sympathetic. “I know you want to, but there is no leaving this place.”
“Did…” Leo swallowed. “Did the goop get you too?”
“No.” Atlas shook his head. “I came here through other means.”
“Then how did I get here? What happened?” He turned again, searching. “Where is here?”
“You were absorbed physically and spiritually,” Atlas explained. “The ‘goop’ then used that energy to break free of its prison.”
Leo winced. “We have to stop it, I have to stop–”
Before Leo could continue, Atlas waved a hand. Pale gray streaks of light flickered through the air as he did, and a mirror rose out of the ground like an archway. Leo stumbled back in surprise.
“What–?”
He was interrupted once again by Atlas touching the mirror. The image in it shifted, showing a shrine. Leo recognized his brothers’ masks, his scarf that Sprout had given him.
Leo got another shock when he saw Sprout walk into the room and settle there in front of the shrine.
“Sprout?” Leo asked out loud, stepping closer.
“He can’t hear you,” Atlas said gently. “Think of it like a television screen.”
“He’s so much older…” Leo whispered, tears welling up in his eyes. “What did I do…?”
“I’ll let him explain it,” Atlas murmured.
So Sprout did, and as he did, the mirror showed Leo the memories. Sprout spoke to Leo about the goop spreading, about after Raph they lost Splinter, and Draxum, and April, and Casey, and Casey Junior, and finally Donatello. He told Leo about Mikey’s deteriorating mental health and the final attack on the bunker.
Leo sank to his knees as it all happened, tears streaming down his face, soaking through his mask. He broke into sobs.
“It’s my fault,” he cried. “I-I– hk–”
Atlas moved to sit beside him, putting a hand on his shoulder. “You should keep watching,” Atlas said gently.
Leo wiped at his tears, breath shaking in his chest. Did he even need to breathe anymore?
Sprout was pushed through Mikey’s portal. He fell through, tumbling into a familiar sight. A tiny Leonardo, right arm gone, a freshly bleeding wound in its place. Unlike Leo, Sprout didn’t hesitate. He lunged for the little version of themselves, wrapping him up, falling through yet another Mikey’s portal.
Leo wept.
Sprout was shouting orders. He knew what he was doing because this was what Leo had done for him. He had the mind to cauterize the wound.
That was so smart, Sprout, Leo wanted to tell him. Look at you. You didn’t even think you could lead, and now here you are. Saving us.
Atlas touched the mirror again. Leo looked at him, wiping away his tears as quickly as he could. Atlas pulled a cloth from thin air and loosened Leo’s mask gently, letting it fall around his neck before patting his cheeks dry. Leo felt oddly like a little kid again, getting his face cleaned like this.
“You can help him,” Atlas told Leo softly.
“What?” Leo asked weakly. “Everything I did– I told him this wouldn’t happen again! I doomed him! I failed to protect him! How am I supposed to help?!”
Atlas cupped his face, and Leo sputtered to a stop, confused.
“He is alive, isn’t he?” Atlas asked. “He may be repeating your circumstances, but he’s learned from your mistakes. You taught him everything he needs to know to make everything right. He knows all the feelings he felt and he knows now how to help himself, because of you.”
“But the key–” Leo protested.
“He will know what to do,” Atlas insisted. He squished Leo’s cheeks and Leo blinked in surprise. “You guide him, even in your absence.”
Atlas released him and touched the mirror again. Leo looked into it, eyes widening as he saw Sprout once more, sitting alone in front of the shrine, slumped back, looking lost and exhausted.
“Put your hand here.” Atlas directed Leo’s hand to the center of the mirror. “And let yourself feel whatever you want to feel.”
Leo did as he was told, staring at Sprout as his voice was a whisper through the mirror.
“Is that how you felt when you first saw me?” Sprout asked. “Terror? Guilt? An urge to protect until the very end.”
Leo gritted his teeth. “Yes,” he whispered back, though Sprout couldn’t hear him. “Yes.”
“I’ll… try and protect him for as long as I can,” Sprout offered weakly. “I’ll protect them all, I am just…”
Leo wanted to hold his Pea Sprout. He wanted to pull him into a hug and apologize many times over for his mistakes. He wanted to curl around him and protect him from all the cruel things that had happened, to dry his tears, to tell him this time it would be okay, that Sprout would do better than Leo ever had.
He let all the agonizing want pour out, and he cried.
In another room, tiny Leo suddenly felt like he should check on his older counterpart. He got up and headed into Sprout’s room, caught him talking out loud to his shrine, to the people he’d lost.
“Scared,” Sprout breathed out.
Little Leo settled beside him without a word passed between them, and Sprout wrapped his arms around his shoulders, hugging him into his side. Leo swore he could feel the warmth in his own scales.
Leo’s hand fell from the mirror.
“You did well,” Atlas said gently, draping a blanket around his shoulders. “Now rest, breathe. You can find him again when he needs you.”
“What is this place?” Leo asked shakily as the mirror slipped away. He pulled the blanket around him closer.
“Ahh…” Atlas sat beside him, offering an uneasy smile. “Hell? Though now that you’re here, I doubt that.”
Leo stared at him, mortified, and Atlas rubbed the back of his neck.
“Okay, bad choice of words,” he muttered. “Have you ever heard of the multiverse theory?”
Heard of it? He’d lived it. Leo couldn’t help the disbelieving laugh that bubbled up from him.
“I know.” Atlas dismissed him with a hand wave. “Hear me out, though. Think of a universe as a pancake. The multiverse is a stack of them. Sometimes you can get through to the one next to you. Sometimes there’s a hole.”
He paused for a moment, just long enough for Leo to furrow his brow in concern.
“This is the plate,” Atlas said finally. He smiled slightly. “There’s no pancake on this level, it’s just… the cradle.”
Leo clutched the blanket closer, pulling his knees up to his chest slowly.
“How did I end up here?” Leo whispered.
“That was my fault,” Atlas admitted. “I brought you here after you stopped existing. You didn’t just die, you were consumed entirely. Your energy was turned into something else, but there were still… pieces of you left. Your ghost.”
“Why did you bring me here? I don’t understand.”
Atlas’ eyes shifted away. “I can put you back,” he said, hushed.
“No, just–” Leo frowned. “Tell me.”
“Loneliness,” Atlas replied. He said the word like it might break him. “I fell… over and over again, through so many different universes and realities, until I finally reached the bottom. No way back up.”
“You can send me back, though?” Leo asked slowly.
“You’ll be nothing, just like you were before. This version of you is gone. This is the only place you can exist consciously now. So yes, I can send you back, but I will be ending you in the process.” Atlas’ eyes were distant. “Keep that in mind when you make your decision.”
Leo didn’t know how long Atlas had been alone. It didn’t seem like there was anybody else there. Slowly, he bumped his shoulder against Atlas’.
“I’ll stick around.” He smiled sadly. “I’ve got a sprout to watch grow.”
Atlas nodded slowly, leaning against Leo. Leo leaned back, and rested his head against Atlas’ shoulder. The mirror returned, and Leo watched Sprout use everything Leo had taught him and more to make things right again.

🪐✨Fic Update—Star Atlas✨🪐
Tumblr media
"Don't move," Wednesday grumbled as she scrambled on top of me; settling with a soft plop as she laid down on me with her head on my chest, arms curled up beneath her, and hoodie pulled over her head to protect her wet hair from the onshore breeze. Sighing, I could feel Wednesday smile. "I missed you."
"You did?"
She nodded.
Wrapping my arms around her as my soul casually wept at this moment, I smoothed a hand up and down her back. She was so petite. So delicate but beastly behind that pixie face and pigtails. Relearning how to relax around her, I closed my eyes, breathed in then out, and repeated this. I soaked in her warmth. The small movements and shifts in posture as Wednesday got comfortable.
"I missed you too," I said back, my voice low so only she could hear me while everyone else talked in loud brassy tones having a good ol' drunken time. "Sometimes I wondered if I'd ever get to see you again. My last week up there felt like the longest week of my life."
"I only got seven hours of sleep those last few days before you came back."
"You were that worried?" Smile growing when Wednesday tilted her head away from me as she nodded, I gave her a tight squeeze. I could have kissed her, I was so happy just to hear that I had been on her mind. Pushing my luck, I angled my head down and asked, "So that means you're happy I'm home, right?"

S'Lach Lanu
Mordecai trusts Ivy.
Mordecai trusts Ivy enough to come to her in a time of need. Mordecai trusts her to meet him at the synagogue, 10 hours into prayers on the anniversary of Atlas May's death. He trusts her enough to weep in front of her, to say what he knew for so long.
"…I know who killed Atlas May."
He says this, under an ornate stained glass window, letting in the full moon and the tinted lights outside. He says this clutching her shoulders, his glasses stained with grit and tears.
"You can't tell anyone you know…you can't. Please…this is between you, me, and the lord." He choked back tears.
"I…Atlas was talking with men from New York, and those men wanted me, and if he found out he'd…I had to get out. They wanted a map. I gave them a map."
"…who…who killed him?"
Mordecai took off his glasses, trembling. He was short of breath, his gasps awkward and stuttering. He muttered something.
"…Mordecai?" Ivy looked concerned. She held his hands. He began weeping.
"…I have recited S'Lach Lanu so many times…" He said. "It's…it's a daily prayer."
"…Mordecai…you…you didn't." She said. "You were like an uncle to me, an older brother. You did so much for me…you smiled around me, you kept me safe, you-"
"…" He wept.
Ivy began to cry. "…he was my godfather."
"I'm sorry…my lord, I'm sorry!"
Ivy hugged him. Ivy held on. "I…" She let him cry onto her, staining her shoulder. She let him weep, until the dim light became too little, even for the nighttime.
Mordecai collected himself. He put his glasses back on. Ivy spoke.
"Mordecai." She said. "…that…prayer thing."
"Which one?"
"For forgiveness?" She asked. "…how does it go?"
"…"
"I know your prayers have…tones. Or something like that."
"…S'lach Lanu, Avinu, Ki Chatanu…"
He recited it with her, once, almost teaching it to her.
She walked out, and left, going back to her dorm.
"Have fun with the gangsters tonight, Ives?"
"Shut it, Helen." Ivy turned out the light.

Thoughts on Netflix's Avatar adaptation Episode 1 and 2
SPOILERS AHEAD
1. AVATAR MY BABY BOY OH GOD LOOK AT HIS SMILE THAT'S MY AANG
2. Air Nomad Temple 10/10. That hurricane scene??? Fuck yes
3. Hey is that Kevin Tran from Supernatural
4. Firelord Sozin has strong Daddy vibes
5. Holy shit they nailed Azula
6. Why is Katara so...flat? We're talking about one of the most fiery feminist icons in fictional history. The lady kicked ass on a daily basis BECAUSE she was tired of being looked down upon. Not bashing on Show!Katara tho. She's adorable. I just wish she'd...do something. It's disorienting to watch her when you KNOW OG!Katara would've been howling in the same situation
7. Soka and Momo are definitely 10/10 (Although I was sad to see Soka not being a sexist baby. Really enjoyed watching Suki kick that shit out of him in OG Atla). They nailed his sass tho
(Side note: why did they have Suki reveal her face to Soka so early? I thought it was adorable that Soka had such a huge crush on a girl whose face he doesn't get to see until at least 2 seasons later, and was genuinely in love with her for her fighting skills and spirit. It did a lot for their chemistry too)
8. OH GOD MY UNCLE IROH IS BACK *bursts into tears* GET THIS MAN HIS JASMINE TEA
9. I see a lot of comments on Zuko being too soft but honestly...I think show Zuko is nailing it
10. APPA. IT'S APPA. THAT'S MY BABY BOY APPA
11. Tbh it feels like the show is taking away some of the major character traits of OG Gaang (Katara's anger issues, Suko's stubbornness about being a "guy's guy, Aang's childish nature which had made him run away at first and later realise the consequences that followed etc. etc.)
12. Watching Kyoshi in action was genuinely so beautiful I think I wept a bit
13. *Stares at Zhao* this motherfucker
Well maybe they just aren't sure about getting a chance to make season 2 so want to shove as much as possible in S1 to get the most amount of popularity while they can to continue down the road. So far, not a bad adaption but y'all, at least stick to the character personalities even if you don't want the source material

Atlas wept, I did not just overhear one of the captains planning to attach bombs to weather surveillance equipment.
He did not just say he "doesn't need a permit" to do that.
I'd get up and scare the shit out of him but my leg is still busted and I don't want to deal with this specific captain.

20 questions for fic writers
I got tagged by @leonardcohenofficial!!
I'm gonna tag @fieryphrazes / @moonyinpisces / @hyruling / anyone else who wants to do this!
1.How many works do you have on Ao3? I have fifteen!!!
2. What's your total Ao3 word count? 377,875 words which is. A lot! Wow!
3. What fandoms do you write for? across ao3 and ffnet I've written for doctor who, good omens, mash, it's always sunny, pacific rim, our flag means death, supernatural, the big bang theory, phantom, and atla.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? take the bones, begin anew / small infinities and all that / each flower has wept and bowed towards the east / affection and other cravings / all you left me was a pearl
5. Do you respond to comments? at the beginning of a fic/if there aren't too many comments, then yes! and if someone has something particularly insightful say or they have a question. after that it sort of feels equivalent to writing thank you cards, and I feel like responding with small platitudes is sort of an empty gesture.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? that depends! a lot of people consider the end of small infinities angsty, but I see it more as bittersweet. out of my complete works, I think "a sadness runs through him" is just a complete angst fest. my old doctor who oc fic that will sadly never be complete also had kind of an angsty ending which can be delved further into here.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? most of my fics end with two people living happily near some water but I think "stories for other people" thematically has the happiest ending
8. Do you get hate on fics? not really! maybe one or two weird comments on "all you left me was a pearl" for stede's wooing technique, and then I know a lot of people don't like the whole turned human thing for small infinities, but I feel like that's more preference than hate
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yeah! not pwp but I love a good sex scene and exploring the inner workings of desire
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? very long ago on a different platform I wrote a danny phantom and atla crossover that was never completed, and also in said doctor who oc fanfiction there was a Sherlock crossover. I don't think I'd write any crossover fic in the future unless it was a universe merger or perhaps a multiple versions of canon meshing sort of thing.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I think?? small infinities got translated?? maybe???
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? nope! it'd be Shrimpteresting to try it out, with someone I respected and knew to be consistent.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? hard to say!!! I think anything I've written for is an all-time favorite. maybe johnlock??? since it re-wrote my brain a bit at the tender age of 14?
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? my johnlock magnum opus is always rotating in my mind but the way it's unraveling I doubt I'll be able to put it to paper successfully; I really really wanna finish my it's always sunny fic also bc I have all the plot points mapped out, but I sort of wrote myself into a corner on accident. both of these could be solved if I just sat down and watched enough of either show to pickle my brain in them again, but the mood hasn't come to me yet.
16. What are your writing strengths? i think said brain-pickling is one: I think I try my best to replicate the tone of whatever media I'm writing for and character voice. I feel like I do pretty well with dialogue. I think I have a good sense of humor and teasing out themes to work with. I tend to write a bunch of unconnected scenes until a common thread emerges, and I think I'm good at piecing them together in a way that makes sense.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? like maddie said before me, I also don't write linearly, and so half the struggle with my writing is figuring out how to create actual plot out of a bunch of vibes-based scenes. i'm also not consistent; I have to be in a certain mood to write. i'm extremely fickle. I tend to stick to certain formulas/themes and should try to branch out more. I'm horrible at describing action, and so sex scenes of mine can be a real slog, I think. i use the em dash far too much.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I think it can be done well, but can sometimes hinder the reader and often can be mistranslated. If I'm writing in another language it has to be phrases I'm familiar with enough to have a go on my own. I usually end up doing a lot of research.
(Side note, just while we're on the topic: I think when people write for sign language they don't include any of the physicality of it, which is a detriment to core of the language, and also ignore how blunt it is, which tends to annoy me. People tend to treat it as English+ instead of a whole other language that differs greatly even between English speaking countries and don't put the research in that they would for other languages. I'm definitely not an expert--I'm not deaf/hoh, I only use a little bit when my jaw acts up, but it really pisses me off lol.)
19. First fandom you wrote for? I wrote a big bang theory fanfiction when I was 14 and none of you will ever find it and I stand by my actions
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? all you left me was a pearl, only because it's the most fun I've ever had writing something and also the horniest thing I've written. which isn't saying much, but I take pride in it.

"Shall we dance?"

"Shall we dance?"
Those were the words Glynda heard come from James Ironwood's mouth, his smile reaching his eyes as he offered his hand to Glynda.
"Fine, but don't do anything funny."
Glynda speaks; she rolls her eyes and chuckles under her breath as she takes James's hand.
Together, the pair dances, matching their steps to the sound of the music playing over the speakers. Glynda smiles as she dances with James, one of her hands resting on his shoulder while he has his hand on her side. Their free hands grasp each other as they sway with each other.
"Y'know... after the Vytal festival, I could find some free time before I leave for Atlas."
James speaks as he brings Glynda into a gentle twirl. Glynda smiles, moving closer to him as they speak and dance.
"That sounds nice, James; I would enjoy that."
As the two dance, they slowly move closer, and right when their faces are just mere inches apart, Ironwood's scroll pinged and his expression hardened as he read the message.
"What's wrong, James?"
Glynda asks as James pulls away.
"Something happened to my men; I'll be right back. Just give me ten minutes."
Glynda nodded as she watched James Ironwood walk away, standing right where he left her on the dance floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Warm tears cascade down Glynda's cheeks as she hears Ruby's message. No matter how hard she tried, Glynda couldn't tear her eyes away from the screen. She watches as her former student explains everything about Salem, what they tried to hide...
But what hurt Glynda was the fall of Atlas, because she knew she would never see James again. Glynda knew she could never talk to him, touch him, hold him, or tell James how much he meant to her. It hit her all at once; everyone watched as the now headmistress of Beacon Academy crumbled to her knees and wept.
She would never get to dance with her Tin Man again.
This was a request from a friend! :))
honestly fuck the atla comics for even trying to convince us that zuko and katara went from ride-or-die besties, people who would risk life and limb for each other, practically soulmates, to acquaintances who had to make awkward small talk once in a while.
you’re actually telling me that after opening up about their deepest traumas to one another, after comforting and supporting each other in a way no one else did, after zuko nearly sacrificed his life for katara and katara fought tooth and nail to save him and wept over him… they just up and decided they weren’t gonna be close friends anymore because that’s definitely the next logical step in the progression of their relationship.
Super natural au adam Instead of being racist to something far worst a communist. He blames the people at the top of power for his suffering. Because it was the Counsel that sold him to the sdc to begin with. now he's a Communist getting the lower class People to rise up against the upper class. The whole racist thing is just propagana by atlas.
Adam shuffled forward as he watched another faunus be beaten to near death. It made his blood boil inside his veins to watch such injustice be made against his people. Unfortunately, there was little he could do to stop the abuse. Not while they were watching.
The Schnee vampire family who held the monopoly on dust and mana ores, materials required to make the world bend under your control. There were those foolish enough to challenge their oligarchic might, but they all fell one way or another. As needed, he was their dog to bring their end.
He'd been caught, enslaved, and branded as their weapon since as far back as he could remember. They ripped the horns from his head, severing his connection to his mana. And this was after they'd blinded him with a brand for fun, marking him as their property. Hate did not begin to define the emotions he'd kept brewing for the past decade.
"Salvation is at hand." He heard in a whisper. He couldn't see who had said it, nor could he determine where. Had it come from within? "Wield the blade that severs."
Adam looked down to his sword, the one "gifted" by his captors to spill the blood of others. Over time, he'd grown numb to the screams and cries. He looked to his fallen comrade, left a bleeding mess while the overseer barked at Adam to finish him. With swollen eyes, the poor worker wept at his executioner, jaw too broken to beg for his life. Adam raised his blade high, catching a faint glow of red from it's once shining steel.
"NOW!" The torch above his prey crackled, and with a single strike, he'd ended the suffering.
The overseer fell to the ground, blood gushing from his severed torso. A whistle blew, and another overseer rushed over to attack, only for them to be ambushed by another slave. Their eyes burned red as he beat the tormentor into a heap.
Adam smiled, and so too did his benefactor with him. For the war for their liberation had begun.
