Okay let's say that the Espada have been in a relationship with reader for a long time and of course the family of the reader has understood that they're in a relationship and are pestering them to meet their partner. How would the Espada feel if reader's family are almost immediately welcoming them into the family and are very sweet and accepting? I'm seriously tired of the trope where the family is judging and unaccepting, plus my whole family are a bunch of weirdos (in a nice way) and no matter who I bring as a partner as long as I'm happy they're all like "now you're part of the family" 😂, thank you for all the amazing content!!
ARRANCAR X FAMILY ❤️
Anon, do you mean to tell me you could bring an Arrancar to dinner, and they'll be ok with it? Damn, some have all the luck!
Starrk is weary of not fucking it up. Moving slower than he usually does, putting things away with utmost care as he helps around your kitchen before you serve dinner. Your parents love him! He's handsome and seems to know how to take care of you. Sure, the attire is weird, but they don't judge!
At first, they're a bit nervous about the literal shark teeth around her face. However, Harribel's solemn attitude and sweet demeanor while looking at you make your family melt as they realize how much you mean to her. Sure she slayed a cup that burnt your hand, but hey, that just means she'll protect you, right?
Ulquiorra: It was awkward at first, yet despite Ulquiorra's icy attitude, your family noticed he had strong feelings for you. Even if he hadn't realized it. And it's just that Ulquiorra's attitude is like: 'I don't care about y/n, but if anything happens to them, I'll kill everyone in the room and then myself' Your parents think he's hilarious.
Oh, Nnoitra craved to see your face when your parents yelled at you that you brought a monster into their homes. Instead, he found they were missing as many screws as you. It was beyond uncomfortable for him, feeling so welcomed. Yet, as undeserving as he stood, Nnoitra was surprised to find he was bearing this for your sake.
Grimmjow: You begged him to behave, and as Grimmjow owed you one, Grimmjow did his best to meet his word. However, destructive by nature as he was, it wasn't long before he picked a fight with your drunk cousin. When he finally blasted him over a table, your whole fam cheered. "It was about time somebody put that bicthy boy in his place!" one of your grannies said, and Grmmjow cackled. Your family was actually not that bad.
Szayel: In his research, one's partner is supposed to make a memorable first impression, so that was his initial intention. However, hollow technology and human food did not always go together, and the robot he built explored over the table.
But that wasn't what troubled Szayel. It was the realization that he cared about what your family could think about him. Luckily for him, everyone cheered the failure and told him that only by making mistakes once progress. Kind of insulting coming from a human, still- it made him feel warm inside. Yeah, they were indeed related to you.

Once Bitten, Twice Stupid prt 163 prt 2
“Lance? You okay?”
Keith had a worried look on his face. Lance giving a small shake of his head as he forced a smile that didn’t feel quite so fake when he was staring at Keith
“Yeah. I got caught up thinking about Vee again. Sorry, I’m mostly okayish. Totally distracted but you know...”
Rieva asked
“Will you contact them?”
“I think I’ll send Veronica the photos. Not... for her sake alone, but for her daughters. Mami was proud of them and I don’t want them to forget her. Besides, Keith helped me remember the really important thing. I do have a family. Hell, we’ve got a whole pack to support us. I’ll have to ask Coran if he can pull the data off my phone even when it’s smashed”
“Do you want me to take a look? As long as it’s not too broken I might be able to salvage something”
Lance didn’t want to tell Matt no. Sometimes I was easy to forget he was an absolute technical wizard. Unless Pidge was there and the pair of them were off speaking what may as well be another language. Only, the phone was designed by Coran, or for Coran, with Blade technology. He didn’t want to accidentally get Matt into trouble
“It’s cool if you don’t, just thought I would offer”
His expression must have showed. He’d managed to hurt Matt’s feelings without meaning to
“I was thinking how it’s Blade tech. I don’t want you to get into trouble by helping me”
“The Blades totally owe us for Rieva rallying the pack to bring down Zarkon and Honerva”
Lance shook his head. The Blades were a bunch of weirdos with their own rules
“That’s beside the point. You’re family, I don’t want them thinking we’re scheming something. I’m enjoying not having death hanging over my head”
Matt nodded, thankfully understanding that it really wasn’t personal
“Us too. Seeing you’re not going to feed us, I’m going to become one with the sofa. What about you, babe?”
“I want to finish my book tonight. Will you two join us in the living room?”
That’d be nice and all, but Lance wanted sleep and cuddles with Keith when they’d finished their dinner and the dishes were done
“No offence guys, but I think I’m going to take Keith up to bed when we’re done. Today’s totally drained me”
“That’s okay. I’m glad you recognise us as family. We’ll always be a pack, don’t forget that”
Lance smiled warmly at Rieva. She probably hadn’t noticed but her English was so much better now, plus she didn’t seem to struggle to find the right word for what she wanted to as much as before. He was grateful to have her around
“I won’t. It really means a lot to have you guys here. I don’t think I would have handled today quite so well if you two hadn’t behaved”
“Yeah, if you call Rieva scaring Rachel behaving. I nearly turned back laughing when Rachel put two and two together”
“And I nearly slapped her for the way she spoke to Lance. I do not see how you and Miriam can be so lovely when she...”
Lance didn’t want to hear the rest of what Rieva thought. Rachel was still his sister and she’d been through so much
“Guys. I know you want to support me, but they’re still... I don’t want to talk about them like that. Rachel went through the worst of it. She was still at home when I was going through puberty. Ego’s during puberty aren’t fun at all”
Rieva nodded. Yeah. She got it. It wasn’t enough to be a mess of hormones, but a mess of hormones with an ego... it fucking sucked
“I remember that too well. Call us if you need us”
“I will. Thanks, guys”
Left alone again, Lance moved his chair closer to Keith, waiting until the TV was turned on before humming softly. This was nice. Being with Keith was nice
“Yes?”
“Just thinking I love you”
“I love you, too. I’m sorry if I upset you being mad at your sisters”
“I get it. You know what I’ve been through and want me to be happy. I never thought they’d show up with the cops... and I’m not that okay with talking about them in a mean way”
“You don’t have to explain. I don’t get it. I mean, I do but mostly I don’t because Shiro’s the closest thing to a real brother I’ve ever had, but we didn’t grow up together”
“I think you’ve grown up plenty. But it is different. I remembered today why I got into family law, after seeing my own family falling apart at the seams. Part of it was penance, trying to make up for existing, and part of it was that I didn’t want kids to suffer going through parents splitting and violence. Even now I can still remember some of the fights Mami and Papi got into. Papi tried to understand in his own way but it was hard on him and Mami. The idea of never hearing about them hurts, but I have you, and I have everyone else and I need to keep reminding myself that I don’t have to keep apologising”
Keith moved to kiss his cheek, his smile loving as his eyes seemed to sparkle with happiness
“Even if I nearly make you wet yourself?”
“Dude, I don’t think you understand what it’s like. All I wanted to do was keep laughing at your bad accent”
“My accent was amazing”
“Amazingly bad... I love how you make me laugh”
Keith snorted
“You’re about the only person that finds me funny”
Nah. That wasn’t true, Keith was hilarious. Especially with that awful accent that worked like magic on him
“That’s their loss. I told my sister’s I’m pregnant. I mean, I can’t hide it, and even if it makes people awkward as long as you’re okay with it, I’m going keep working at being okay with it. These cramps suck, but we’ve made it over the halfway point, so it’s okay to believe it’s going to be okay, right?”
Lance had no idea that Braxton-Hicks would initially feel as weird as they did. They hurt a little, but were more weird. Reading about something was way different to going through it. In a way it’d been liberating to say it out loud. Almost like announcing he’d never be as happy as he was now with Keith and his family. That was kind of true. He’d been happier when Mami was alive, but there was no limitation of grief, and when he was down, he had Keith to kiss away his pain.
“Yeah. As long as you learn how to take it easy”
Fuck, he loved Keith. Teasing and all
“Rude. I was taking it easy today. Babe, you should have seen it. Blue and Kosmo were curled up with Matt and Rieva. I wish I’d gotten a photo of it”
“That would have been pretty cute. Where were you in all this cuddling?”
“Leaning against Rieva, reading to her. We had kind of a doggo spa day. I groomed her and Matt, and Kosmo and Blue. Then I made the most of having trouble werewolves to use hot water bottles”
“Babe, I don’t think you actually know how to take it easy. I’ve had my suspicions for a while now, but the point of taking it easy is to do nothing”
Keith couldn’t talk, he was literally the worst of them all at sitting still. Besides, it’d been bonding time for their little pack, the only thing that would have made it even better was if Keith had been home
“It was fun grooming Matt and Rieva. They malt so much that I had enough hair to give Matt a a full beard. Thanks for helping out Hunk today”
“They’ve done a lot for me so it was kind of the least I could do. You’re right though, I’m ready for bed”
“Wanna skip dessert and go upstairs instead?”
Lance hadn’t meant it as flirty as it sounded. Keith had helped him through his not-heat, and deserved some proper pampering
“Why there, sir, are you propositioning little old me?”
Lance groaned as the accent came out again. His boyfriend was such an idiot
“I was thinking of getting on top of you and giving you a massage”
“Or, I could give you a massage”
“As tempting as that is, I’ll take a rain check on it. You’ve spent the day working hard, I want to make you feel relaxed”
“I’m relaxed when I’m with you”
“Then think about relaxed you’re going to be afterwards”
“I’m going to be asleep”
“I’m down for that. Let’s finish dinner already so I can throw it all back up”
“That doesn’t sound romantic when you put it that way”
Lance wrinkled his nose. Vomiting was not romantic
“It’s not, but it was fun cooking with you beside me. We make a good team”
Lance meant it sincerely. Keith had come a long way in his kitchen skills... even with the potato massacre
“The best team of all, babe”

Dimension Jumping pt. 1

The Fellowship of the Ring x Reader
But a lot of the stories are about the reader falling into Middle Earth…. what about the other way around? If you wanted to do all the characters, you could do a point after they left Rivendell, before they split up?
Like for example, after Gandalf ‘dies’, and it could be something sweet and cute or whatnot where the reader helps them grieve a bit, give them a bit of a rest before continuing on their journey?
Weekends have always been your favorite time of the week.
No responsibilities, sleeping in, more time, freedom, the list goes on and on.
Your weekends are usually spent idly doing things you enjoy, like sleeping, and lot’s of stress free activities.
Not this weekend though, for when you got home after a grocery run, you were met with quite the surprise.
A total of 8… people? lay strewn about in your living room seemingly unconscious. They are dressed in odd clothes, holding medieval looking weapons, and they look rather raggedy and dirty. Four of them are extremely small, and if it weren’t for their older looking faces, you would’ve thought them to be children. There’s also a handsome blond with pointy ears, a short red headed, bearded… man, and two semi-regular looking tall dudes.
Your groceries fall from your arms and land on your carpeted floor, but you barely pay that any mind since you can’t seem to tear your eyes away from the pile of people in the middle of your damn living room.
Your floofy white dog Penny is sniffing around them, but she doesn’t seem to be alarmed nor agitated by their presence, so that’s good at least. She’s an excellent judge of character after all. Eventually she settles down next to the tall guy with dark brown hair, and though you don’t like that she’s next to these strangers, you allow it.
The sound of your things falling to the ground seems to rouse them, and you watch as the man wearing dark clothing with dark hair opens his eyes and groans quietly. At first his eyes scan around the room, then they fall upon you.
He sits up slowly, still eyeing you as he glances down at his small child-looking friends. A look of relief passes his expression before he looks at you once more, saying nothing while the rest of his merry band of crazies begin to sit up.
This is supposed to be your fucking day off, and this shit happens? A bunch of renaissance weirdos laying in your house, making your clean carpet dirty.
“You know what, no.” You state loudly, successfully startling the dark haired man, “This is my weekend off, and I am not dealing with this. Whatever this is."
You turn on your heel and begin picking up your groceries, though you remain vigilant incase one of them intends to try something.
Once you’ve gathered all your discarded things you stand again and look behind you, seeing that most of them are on their feet and looking at you and your home as if you’re some alien in a structure unknown to them. You quickly look forward again and go to your kitchen, placing everything on your counters while you try to decide how the hell you’re going to deal with this.
You look over your counter at the still staring people and ask slowly, "Does… anyone want a snack?”
Two of the small blonde men perk up when you say ‘snack’, so you take that as a yes and begin preparing apples, celery, and peanut butter for everyone to eat.
By the time you’re done cutting up the apples you’ve only got two left, but you just sigh and bring out a tray with the snack and place it on the coffee table.
The two blond… boys? run over to it immediately, but are halted by a sharp “No.” from the brown-haired guy.
Said brown-haired guy is looking at you distrustfully, and you feel your blood begin to boil with his distrust (even though HE is in YOU home).
“Okay dude, I get you don’t know me or whatever but you guys literally broke into my house, so if anyone is supposed to be cautious here it’s me. M. E. Me. I’m offering your… children…? Adult babies? Boys? Food, and damnit if they want it then they’re gonna eat it.” Your little outburst gets you several shocked looks, but you’re so FUCKING tired, you’ve just got no energy to deal with this.
“We 'broke into your house’?” He repeats slowly, “I have no recollection of our relocation to your… house, and I’ve never seen someone of your caliber, nor a place so… odd, before. So forgive me if I am skeptical of our suspiciously willing host.” His voice is dripping with sarcasm, and it successfully ruffles your self control.
“Now you listen here Mr. Broody, I’m not about to get sass in my own home. By god if Penny didn’t seem to love you so much I would vaporize you where you stand!” Big talk for such a small person, yes, but you stand by your statement.
Only you don’t get the reaction you were expecting, because suddenly everyone looks horrified.
“You can do that?” One of the small blond boys(?) gasps, scooting closer to his look-alike.
The guy you were mouthing off to grabs the hilt of his -is that a fucking sword?!- weapon and steps in front of the small guys. The tall blond dude, other actual human, and short ginger haired man do the same, and suddenly you feel a lot less satisfied.
“Woah there fellas, It’s a figure of speech!” You say quickly, raising your hands in a surrender motion.
Penny senses your sudden distress, so she bounds over to you and presses her nose against your knee in a way meant to gather your attention. You glance down at her and visibly relax before looking back up at the still tense men in front of you.
“Tough crowd…” You reach down slowly and pat Penny’s head, watching as their eyes follow your movements. “Okay, look. I’m not going to like, poison you or whatever you’re afraid of. How about we start with introductions, hm?"
The same guy from before nods his head slowly (it seems he’s the leader here) and tells you a little hesitantly, "I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn. A Ranger, also known as Strider by most."
What in the ever loving hell did he just say?
You can’t even stop the laughter from bellowing out of you, because this is just so god damn ridiculous and completely baffling. You grasp your stomach and double over with laughter while everyone else just watches silently and confusedly.
Eventually your laughter begins to subside when your sides start to hurt, so you stand up a bit straighter and wipe a tear from the corner of your eye, "Ahaha, ah… wow that’s good. But really though, I’m not looking for stage names bud, I’m being serious here.”
This 'Aragorn’ doesn’t seem to find it as funny as you do. “Stage names? No, I believe you are misunderstanding.”
The smile on your face drops and you suddenly don’t find it as funny either. “So… your name is actually Aragorn then?” Well, maybe not all of them have weird names, “Right, then what about the rest of you?"
The other guy who looks like an actual human speaks up next, "I am Boromir, son of Denethor and Captain of Gondor.” Oh heck.
Blondie comes up next, “I am Legolas from the woodland realm.”
Shortie #1, “Gimli Son of Gloin."
The small dark haired man child comes forward, "I am Frodo Baggins, and these are my friends Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took, and Meriadoc Brandybuck."
"What the-” you pause and cover Penny’s ears, “Fuck is all of this?"
It seems your actions amuse the taller dudes because their stand-offish demeanors diminish as they seem to deem you harmless (I mean who covers their dogs ears when cursing? Clearly you’re pathetic).
"I’m afraid I don’t know what to tell you.” Mr. Aragorn states.
“Well, start with where you come from, maybe?”
They all share a look before 'Legolas’ states, “We come from Middle Earth and have just traveled through the Mines of Moria."
You literally don’t know what any of that means.
"Well, alright. Right now, I can tell you that you’re on Regular Earth and in my living room.” You don’t mean to be so sarcastic, but both the functional and rational parts of your brain are failing you big time, “Do you know how you got here?"
You get 8 respective no’s, and while you expected that, it’s no less frustrating. "Shoulda seen that one coming, I guess."
The Gimli character looks you up and down and asks in his gruff voice, "And what about you, you’ve not told us who you are."
"Oh, right, my bad. I’m Y/N, and this cutie,” you reach down and pick up Penny’s front paws from the ground and wave them at the group, “Is Penny. She is the softest, sweetest, and cutest doggo you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. Disrespect her and there will be consequences."
You stand back up and pat Penny’s head, watching as they all nod their understanding and appear rather nervous suddenly.
"That was also a joke.”
Most of them relax.
You tap your foot a few times and seem to think over your options, looking away from them and out the window.
Clearly there is something very wrong going on here, so you can’t just throw them out, but at the same time you don’t have enough energy to deal with this today. And there’s the very real possibility that they could be psychos. But there’s also the fact that they seem to be a little worse for wear, some of them have puffy eyes, and is that blood?  Their disheveled and tired appearances tug at your heart strings, and you find yourself wanting to help them.
“Okay, against my better judgement I have decided that I’m going to welcome the lot of you into my house until we can figure out what the hell is going on here.” This seems to surprise Aragorn and his two tall besties. “I don’t know why… but something is telling me that I should help you out, so I guess that’s what I’m going to do.”
Two of the small blond ones smile brightly, but you haven’t finished yet.
“But!” Their smiles drop and everyone seems rather serious again, “If any of you try anything funny or start any trouble, I will kick all of you out. I don’t know any of you, and you all have weapons. So if I’m gonna let you stay then you’re going to have to behave.”
“Miss Y/N, you do not have to-” Aragorn begins, but you put up your hand and shake your head.
“It’s fine. Just please don’t break anything, and if Penny wants head pats you had better give them to her."
It seems your rules are fair enough, because you get 8 more head nods.
The two small people attack the snack you made finally, and you find that you can’t help but to laugh a bit.
A thought then strikes you, "Oh!"
Everything pauses and every looks at you again, more alert, but you just roll your eyes at how on edge they are.
"I was just going to say that I have two bathrooms is anyone wants to wash up.”

off limits. {w.y}
summary: in which your brothers bestfriend, wong yukhei, keeps stumbling into your room while he’s high
word count: 4.6k
warnings: swearing, implied attempted sexual assault, suggestive (making out), mentions of drugs and drug use.
Tumblr media
fuck equations. that’s all you could think as you flipped through your math packet, trying to find a question you knew how to answer. it didn’t help that your brother, jae, was blaring the most obnoxious music downstairs. it was so loud that your head pounded and the floor vibrated. he didn’t seem to take the hint to turn it down when you stomped on the floor. there was no way you could do your homework with this noise, and you couldn’t even sleep, so you retrieved your laptop from underneath your bed and plugged in your headphones, hoping something on netflix would drown out the music.
you were three minutes into an episode of friends when your door opened suddenly. you glanced up from your screen, expecting it to be jae, to see wong yukhei standing in the doorway in all his glory. lucas, to his friends, but you called him by his birth name to piss him off.
“oh shit, i always come in here thinking it’s the bathroom.” he chuckled, a smug grin on his face. he wore a pair of grey sweatpants and a black hoodie, and even though he put no thought into it, you found him undeniably attractive. every girl did. his hood was pulled over his head, the second sign that he was high as the hills. the ends of his dyed hair fell in his face as his round eyes bore into you.
“well, it’s still not the bathroom.” you joked and sat up straighter. he looked around for a moment, his hand still steady on the doorknob.
“lucas, get out of my sisters room, she stinks!” jae called from downstairs. you rolled your eyes and wanted to hit him. yukhei just shrugged and winked at you.
   “i’ll see you around, ____.”
wong yukhei was your brother’s bestfriend and had been since they were in the 6th grade. you were a year younger and yukhei’s presence always made you timid until the 10th grade when you actually talked to him. it was at a party that your friend had dragged you to. she left you alone in the living room to go make out with a senior in the closet, and yukhei kept you company for the night. unfortunately, everyone knew you as jae’s younger sister, his hot friends included. sadly, yukhei was one of his hot friends.
Tumblr media
your mind stuck on the encounter with the boy through the following days. although, it wasn’t the first time he had stumbled into your room thinking it was the bathroom. your parents had invited yukhei to stay for dinner, and because of the small dining room table, he was stuck sitting next to you. you ate in silence, your parents talking about something to do with the neighbours.
“____, why don’t you ever have friends over for dinner?” your mom asked, bringing you back to earth with your name being said.
“because she doesn’t have any.” jae snickered while shoving a forkful of vegetables in his mouth. you kicked him under the table and he acted like you just beat him with a baseball bat.
   “she kicked me!” he whined.
“yeah? i’ll do it harder next time.” you taunted. this is usually how family dinners went. you heard yukhei suppress his laughter from beside you.
“both of you, be good.” your mother warned, shooting daggers at you and jae.
“i like your spite.” yukhei said as you were helping to clean up after dinner.
“it’s kind of second nature from growing up with jae.” you laughed and gathered the plates in your arms.
“here, let me help you with that.” he offered and took the stack. you smiled in thanks. when he loaded them into the dishwasher, his eyes fell on you again.
“jae’s really a nuisance to you, isn’t he?”
“sadly.” you crossed your arms and leaned against the counter. “i’m used to it. usually he gets his way.”
“really? i thought it was usually the younger sibling?” he raised an eyebrow as he approached you.
“it’s the favourite child that gets their way.” you said but before yukhei could respond, jae walked into the kitchen.
“ew, get away from her, she might kick you.” he scrunched up his face and discreetly slipped his jacket on, the one you knew had his lighter and joints in the pocket. he was lucky you hadn’t told your mom. no, you wouldn’t do that. sure, you were his annoying little sister, but you weren’t a snitch.
Tumblr media
the second time yukhei found himself in your bedroom happened the same way as before. he stumbled in, stoned out of his mind, looking for the bathroom. or so you assumed.
“still not the bathroom, yukhei.” you sighed, not even looking up from your homework.
“no, i posted something really embarrassing on jae’s instagram and he’s gonna kick my ass when he sees it but he’s in the bathroom right now so i need to hide in here.”
you looked up at him with an arched eyebrow.
“please?” he pleaded with a sweet smile.
“okay.” you gave in and moved some papers out of the way for him to sit at the foot of your bed. he quickly closed the door behind him and sat with you.
“girls rooms are so weird…” he pondered, looking around.
   “why?”
“i don’t know, you just have a lot of stuff in here…” it was obvious that his thoughts weren’t coherent. your eyes couldn’t help but wander to him. his breathing was heavy and made the fabric that was clinging to his chest moved up and down. he had his hood down, his messy hair falling in his eyes. his tanned skin looked so smooth that you were almost tempted to reach out and touch it.
nobody knew about your crush on your brothers bestfriend. not your friends, not your brother, not even your bestfriend. nobody knew that you wished for yukhei to open your door every time he was over. nobody knew how crazy you were for the boy.
you hadn’t realized that you were staring at him until his eyes met yours. you looked away immediately, trying to ignore the blush spreading across your cheeks.
“like what you see?” he smirked.
“oh shut up.” you muttered and rolled your eyes. it went quiet, the silence more or less awkward.
“wong yukhei!” jae’s yell pierced the silence. you started to laugh, but yukhei’s face contorted into fake fear.
“i’m gonna kill you!” jae yelled and you heard him run around the house trying to find the boy. when you heard a thud followed by him cursing, both of you started to double over in laughter. you didn’t even hear him come up the stairs until your bedroom door opened abruptly.
“why are you in my sisters room, you weirdo?” jae questioned, seeming to have forgotten whatever yukhei had posted on his instagram. even though jae was mean to you usually, he was extremely protective over you.
“hiding from you.” you replied, trying to stop your laughter.
“get out.” jae jerked his head towards the doorway and rolled his eyes. yukhei sent you an apologetic look and rose from his spot on your bed. when he had left, jae’s eyes landed on you.
   “lucas is off limits.”
“what? ew!” you feigned disgust and tried not to blow your cover. jae was silent for a moment, just looking at you.
   “good.”
long after you had gone to bed, jae and yukhei were still awake in the basement.
“don’t get too comfortable around ____. my sister’s off limits.” jae warned, his eyes not leaving the tv screen.
“ew, i would never.” yukhei laughed, jamming on the controls on the game console controller in his hands.
the truth is, no one knew about yukhei’s massive crush on you.
Tumblr media
“i’m having friends over. that means you don’t make noise, don’t talk to them, don’t come downstairs, just—don’t embarrass me, okay?” you had to explain to the boys who weren’t really paying attention.
“yes, your highness.” yukhei joked, smiling up at you. you liked him a lot better when he wasn’t high.
   “yeah, we’ll behave.” jae added.
“you better,” you wagged a finger at them just as the doorbell rang. “that’s them. be good.”
your high pitched laugh (that sounded more like a shriek) pierced the air when your bestfriend, dae, hit you with a pillow while you were already down.
“this is what you get for making me die in fortnite!” she laughed, smacking you again. she had a point, you made her lose because you distracted her by throwing popcorn at her face. soon, dae and your other friend, chul, were playfully attacking you with the pillows from the couch. your loud laughter and stop!’s echoed through the basement and to the upstairs level of the house.
you knew you had disturbed the boys when the door opened and their footsteps came padding down the stairs.
“what are you—” jae started but stopped once he seen you almost in a pile on the floor. you could barely breathe from laughing.
“yukhei, save me!” you called jokingly.
yukhei hurriedly scooped you away from the girls. he carried you bridal style away from their pillow weapons and you hadn’t even realized until you came down from your laughter high.
“wow, my knight in shining armour.” you breathlessly chuckled, looking up at the charming boy, your arms locked around his neck. he looked so… soft. a cute smile danced on his lips and it took everything in your power not to lean in and kiss them. dae and chul merely looked at each other, already having suspicions. he winked at you, making your cheeks heat up, before placing you on the couch. then, your eyes fluttered closed as his plump lips touched your forehead.
sadly, your moment only lasted a second before jae was ripping yukhei away from you. he was angry that yukhei had been so touchy with you, the protective older brother side of him coming out.
“i said my sister’s off limits!” he hissed quietly, shoving him upstairs. off limits? isn’t that what he had told you about yukhei?
when they were gone again, almost as quickly as they had came, a hush fell over the three of you. you all looked at each other before dae and chul broke into excited smiles and sat on either side of you, getting ready to chat your ear off about the possibility of you and wong yukhei.
Tumblr media
parties definitely weren’t your scene, but you had somehow let dae drag you along to another obnoxious house party. the average sized house was so packed with people that they were spilling out into the front and back yard. you easily lost dae and tried to maneuver your way around the sweaty, half drunk bodies to find her. you knew jae was there, too, and didn’t want to bump into him. you didn’t want to bump into any of jae’s friends for that matter, maybe except for yukhei. you didn’t know if he would be there, and if he was, he was probably getting high in the backyard.
after your failed attempts at finding your bestfriend, you decided to retreat to the somewhat quieter living room, hoping to be able to hear your thoughts through the blaring music. you stood on your tiptoes one last time to try and catch a glimpse of the girl, but a pair of hands placed on your waist from behind made you drop to your height. when you turned around, you were met with someone much taller than you.
“yukhei, hi.” you smiled, his presence always making you happy.
“hey cutie,” his words made your stomach do a somersault. “have you seen your brother?” of course, there was the catch.
“uh, no, actually. check the backyard.” you advised, taking a step away from him.
“you good? where’s dae?” he raised an eyebrow and looked around.
“i lost her. she’s somewhere,” you laughed fakely. “i was just trying to find her.”
“she shouldn’t be far. i’ll see you later, ____.” yukhei nodded nonchalantly as his eyes wandered over the crowd, like he was trying to find someone too.
after sitting in the living room with your eyes glued to your phone for 15 minutes, you were bored and quite frankly, ready to leave. the living room had turned into a place for obnoxious couples to make out when all the bedrooms upstairs were filled. you rolled your eyes and got up from the couch, determined to find dae and leave.
while you were in the middle of the crowd and your searching efforts still weren’t enough, a pair of hands grabbed your hips and pulled you in.
“yukhei–” you started but soon realized that the guy holding onto you wasn’t yukhei. you recognized the older boy as one of jae’s friends but couldn’t remember his name.
“i haven’t seen you in forever. you grew up.” he smirked as his eyes wandered your body. you swallowed heavily and tried to take a step back, but his grip on you wouldn’t allow it.
“c’mon baby.” he chuckled creepily and leaned in closer to you, the smell of alcohol hitting your nostrils.
“stop.” you furrowed your eyebrows and once again tried to back away, but bumped into the crowd instead.
“don’t play hard to get. what’s a pretty little thing like you doing by herself at a party? you need to have some fun.” his hand travelled down your hip to squeeze your ass, making you painfully uncomfortable. you tried to get away from him again but couldn’t. by now, you were scared.
“hey, get your hands off my girl.” an angry voice boomed from over your shoulder. the guy quickly backed off at the sight of yukhei, who easily towered above him. you fled to yukhei’s side, his arm instinctively wrapping around your shoulders.
“what do you think you were doing, huh?” he questioned, his eyebrows tugged together and anger in his deep eyes.
“s-sorry man…” the guy gulped, obviously scared.
“i’m not the one you should be apologizing to.”
“sorry ____.” he breathed out, taking another step back and his eyes frantically looking around for a way to escape.
“if you ever touch her or any other girl like that for that matter, i’ll make sure you won’t even be able to use your hands ever again.” yukhei taunted, his voice deep and menacing. the guy fled, disappearing back into the crowd.
“are you okay?” yukhei sighed, concern in his voice. you tilted your head up to look at him and he moved his hands to your shoulders. his expression had turned from angry to worried.
“i’m okay.” you said quietly. he looked around for a moment before looking back at you.
“do you wanna get out of here? just go somewhere quieter? text dae and tell her that you’re leaving and i’ll handle your brother.” he suggested. you nodded, the party music giving you a massive headache. and after your encounter, you were ready to just get out of there.
yukhei’s car was messy and cold but the air freshener masked the scent of weed with the scent of sweet vanilla. you knew he wasn’t high tonight by the way he was acting. goosebumps spread on your bare skin and you hadn’t bothered to bring a jacket. you mentally cursed yourself as you sat in the passenger seat.
“you cold?” yukhei raised an eyebrow when he noticed you cross your arms in an attempt to keep in your body warmth.
“i’m alright.” you reassured. he wouldn’t take it though, as he took the black hoodie off his body and handed it over to you.
   “but you–”
“i have another in the backseat and this one’s warmer.” he pushed it into your hands, not taking no for an answer. he reached over the seat and grabbed a white hoodie. hesitantly, you slipped it over your head and soon you were engulfed in his scent. yeah, he wore too much cologne but it was better than smelling like weed.
you ate in silence in yukhei’s car after he bought burgers and fries for the both of you. his phone buzzed and he rolled his eyes as he read the text.
“jae’s pissed at me for leaving with you.” he mumbled.
“why?” you sighed, leaning back in the seat and crumpling the paper bag you had just finished with. yukhei was silent, not wanting to tell you why. you glanced over at him to find that he was already looking at you. you felt the heat rise to your cheeks and you faced forward again.
he took a deep breath. “he’s really overprotective, y’know.”
“trust me, i know.” you laughed bitterly and played with the long sleeves of his hoodie.
“and because of that, he hates the mention of any guy around you. even me.” he admitted.
“god, what a dickhead!” you exclaimed. yukhei laughed at your outburst. “seriously! no wonder i don’t have a boyfriend…”
“yeah, every guy is off limits to you.” when he said that, you remembered what jae had told yukhei that night when your friends were over. “even me.”
he mumbled the last part so quietly that you barely even heard it. but you did.
“funny, because jae told me that you were off limits.” you laughed quietly. yukhei was silent and you were worried that you had interpreted his words the wrong way. you looked at him. he was leaning his arm against the window and ran a hand through his hair.
“why would jae have to tell you that?” he questioned, looking at you. you felt yourself freeze as you scrambled for an answer.
“why would he have to tell you that?” you fired back. yukhei thought again for a moment.
“because i’ve liked you for like, three years?” he chuckled softly, not being able to take his eyes off you. your mouth slightly hung open and you were sure your heart was racing at a million miles per hour.
“now you know the answer to your question, too.”
yukhei couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his face. he had hid his feelings for you for so long because of jae, but now that he knew you felt the same way, it took everything in him not to unleash his affection. still, his mind worried. one of two things could happen: this happens and jae acts even more overprotective over you and gets mad at him, or this doesn’t happen and you grow distant because of your unrequited feelings. yukhei didn’t want the latter to happen.
he was so consumed in his own thoughts that he hadn’t realized that he was silently staring at you.
“yukhei? what is it?” you asked worryingly, chewing on the inside of your cheek.
he couldn’t help himself from leaning over the center console and attaching his lips to yours. it felt so right to do, you’d been wanting it for years. you had fantasized about his soft lips, and now here you were, kissing him in his car.
Tumblr media
you hadn’t told anyone about what happened with you and yukhei. if the news spread and jae heard, both you and yukhei were dead. you decided you needed to confront jae.
“why did you tell yukhei i was off limits?” you asked nonchalantly one evening while channel surfing.
“uh, because you’re my sister?” he mumbled through a mouthful of popcorn.
“so? wouldn’t you rather me date him than any of your other douchey friends?” you shuddered while thinking of what happened at the party. jae thought for a moment.
“well, yeah. but you don’t need a boyfriend so don’t get any ideas, brat.” he warned and threw a handful of popcorn at you. oh well, at least you had tried.
Tumblr media
you had gone all week without seeing yukhei. usually this wouldn’t faze you, but after your last encounter, you were dying to see him. you didn’t know what you were. your feelings had been revealed and you couldn’t get the thought of yukhei liking you off your mind. you couldn’t stop thinking about him thinking about you. so you got an idea.
you tagged along with jae to the next party the next weekend, knowing yukhei would be there. you decided to stick with jae, knowing wherever he went, yukhei would be.
and there he was. looking as handsome and irresistible as ever. he was standing in the backyard with a few other boys, even his stance was tempting you. he wore a white hoodie that clung to his taut chest, his signature black hoodie being still in your room from the week before, and jeans that were ripped at the knees. his hood was up and the ends of his floppy hair fell in his face. whatever he was talking about made him laugh, and his wide smile took over his face. his honey toned skin seemed to glow in the moonlight. you were so entranced by the boy.
“okay, go inside now.” jae scoffed from beside you, not wanting you to be there while he smoked. jae’s voice brought yukhei’s attention to you two. he stopped whatever sentence he was speaking when he saw you, a goofy smile springing to his face. thankfully, jae didn’t notice, but everyone else did.
   “____, go.” jae urged.
“i’m going!” you said defensively, not being able to take your eyes off yukhei.
when you were back inside, you had no clue what to do with yourself. you were itching to be with yukhei again, and he was outside getting high with your brother. it was really a hit or miss. you mingled with a few girls you sort of knew from your biology class, sat in the living room with the obnoxious couples, and finally decided to get yourself a drink. you didn’t like drinking, but you needed one to get yukhei out of your thoughts.
as you maneuvered your way to the makeshift bar, you were aware of someone following you. you stopped walking to see if the person would back off, but instead you were greeted with a pair of hands on your waist and a voice in your ear.
“i missed you.” yukhei murmured, his lips almost gently touching your ear, sending shivers down your spine. you turned to face him, grabbing his hands in your own.
“let’s get out of here then.”
the second time kissing yukhei was definitely better than the first. and the third, and the fourth. each was better than the last. you thought you had died and went to heaven when you ended up sitting in yukhei’s lap in the driver's seat in an empty parking lot. you straddled his waist, your legs on either side of him, as he pulled you down to kiss him.
“god, i don’t think i’ll ever get tired of this.” he whispered against your lips, sending shocks of energy through your body.
“i don’t think i’ll ever get tired of you.” you replied, briefly taking your lips from his. you ran your hands through his hair as his ran up and down your back. your kisses quickly went from short and sweet to deep and sloppy, each wanting more of the other.
just as yukhei’s large hands found their way to the hem of your shirt, his phone rang. you cursed the damn thing, wanting to throw it out the window.
“it’s jae.” he sighed before swiping the screen and holding the phone to his ear. jae’s voice was so loud on the other end that you could almost hear what he was saying.
“yeah yeah, she’s right here.” yukhei sighed, glancing at you as if to say “i’m sorry.”
“mhm, i’ll bring her home…no! get your mind out of the gutter.” he pretended to be disgusted. “yeah, we’ll be there soon.” he groaned and hung up the phone, dropping it back in the cup holder. his attention immediately went back to you.
“i’m sorry, baby…” he sighed softly, his hands rubbing your sides.
“it’s okay, yukhei.” you forced a smile and leaned down to kiss him once more, your hands cupping his face.
“i’m gonna talk to jae. because i can’t keep pretending. and honestly, i don’t care what he says. he can’t stop us. i just want you to be mine.”
Tumblr media
the next time yukhei stumbled into your room, you didn’t protest it. you had heard him padding up the stairs, yelling out to jae that he was going to use the bathroom, but you knew why he was upstairs. he stood in the doorway with his hand on the doorknob for a moment, just looking at you.
“hey yukhei…” you smiled, waving a hand in front of his face to bring him back to earth. you knew he was stoned out of his mind but tried to ignore it. you didn’t like his habit, but you weren’t about to try and change him.
“can i come in?” he smiled innocently, already closing the door behind him. when you nodded and made space for him, he ignored the spot you had patted and jumped on your bed. you laughed and fell back so you were lying down and he wasted no time in wrapping his arms around your waist and nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck.
“i missed you.” he giggled, his lips tickling your neck.
“i missed you too.” you sighed softly, running a hand through his soft hair. it was silent for a moment, his eyes fluttering closed and his chest heaving against your arm with deep breaths.
“you’re wearing my sweater.” he mentioned, his wide brown eyes opening to look up at you.
“you want it back?”    “no, i want it back when it smells like you.” he said, admiring you through hooded eyes. you both fell silent again, just enjoying the others company.
“when are you going to tell him?” you asked quietly, your fingers playing with his hair as his head laid on your chest. you needed more than texts and small moments like this with yukhei.
“soon. i promise.” he sighed, looking away from you.
“promise?” you held out your pinky finger to him. his laugh made you vibrate as he brought his larger pinky up to lock it with yours.
“you’re so cute.” he murmured, but was cut off by a voice from downstairs.
“lucas, did you die?” jae yelled from the bottom of the stairs. you could tell because he seemed close but you hadn’t heard him come up the stairs, but he could’ve while your heartbeat was pounding in your ears.
“no, i’ll be down in a minute.” yukhei sighed and sat up. you looked at him with an understanding look, sitting up to face him. he cupped your face in his large hands, placing a gentle kiss to your forehead, nose and then lips.
“you’re adorable, dork. i love you.” he mumbled against your lips with a soft smile. as he stood from your bed, you were breathless. he loved you? you didn’t think he realized what he said, but when you didn’t say anything, he turned back to you, his smile fading a bit.
“yukhei, i love you too, idiot.”
Tumblr media
jae was less than pleased when yukhei told him about you two, but didn’t fight it. he didn’t try to keep you apart, knowing that he couldn’t stop you if this is what you really wanted. he didn’t want to lose his bestfriend and his little sister’s trust.
now every time that yukhei came over, you hung out together. jae left you alone sometimes, not wanting to third wheel and be sick because of  your affection. you still treasured those moments of yukhei finding his way into your room, but now, he wasn’t allowed to leave without a hug and kiss.

Alfie drives over to the Westbank into the residential parts of town. Old and new houses, apartment complexes and shotgun homes. He follows the GPS to Mae's house and it looks how he thought it might.
A small colorful front, with a tall wooden fence around the sides and backyard. The door was a deep teal set against a faded yellow exterior. An awning over the front door, with a small porch, a stoop that was painted and worn. Flower pots of all sizes and in the color of gemstones and varied conditions sat on the stairs and around it. Wildflower boxes sat underneath windows with shutters of the same teal color as the door and fencing. It was quaint, comfortable and colorful just like she was, he thought it suited her well. He pulls into the small driveway, in the residential area with houses that look much the same as hers. It homed older houses with older owners that had fallen into a less than pristine condition, newer family homes with landscaped front lawns. But Mae's had a small patch of grass, closer to the road as he suspected the backyard would be where most of the bulk of the grass would be for a garden.
He carries Mae into her house, unlocking her door with a nod of his head. Finding the interior to be as warm and comfortable as she felt in his arms. He walks directly into the far corner of the living room. The large bay window seen from the front of the house is bleeding bright light into the room from behind a large and plush couch. The room is decorated in deep jewel tones, a teal sectional sits against navy walls, with a collection of warmer color throw pillows in bohemian and southwestern styles. A shaggy faux fur blanket was thrown haphazardly over the extended lounge end of the couch. Large potted palms sit in the corners, succulents in tiny decorative pots on the window sills. They carried onto the mantle of the brick painted black fireplace that sat like a huge room divider, sitting in a huge square column in the center of the large space of the living room and kitchen. A flat-screen tv rests on the opposite wall of the couch above the fireplace. A driftwood coffee table containing a large fern in a bright yellow pot, books on plants and herbs stacked with various remotes and cat toys.
He places her gently on the extended section of the couch, careful to place her head on a pillow and make sure none of her limbs are twisted.
He hears and feels his darkness rev and purr and push around inside him. "Yeah I know, me too." he sighs.
-"Been waiting so long."- it moans. "So soft. So much life. She glows like the sun. The companion to our moon."- It starts reciting its own strange poetry for its mate it's waited millennia for. It hadn't been with its light since the dawn of time he assumes, as he knows his darkness is so old that time isn't even relevant to it for the most part.
He recalls the dark horrors of primordial ooze and black endless voids and abyss when it had come upon him. He was impressed it was behaving itself. For so long he'd had to fight so hard to control it, making him do evil, terrible things. Deeds so bad he'd exiled himself for years away from civilization. But in her presence it was calmed, it rippled like water, it was happy and he'd never known his darkness to feel happy about anything. Except when he was digging through the insides of innocents. He shakes the old thoughts from his head, still feeling guilty even almost a century later and trying to make amends ever since.
He traces his fingers over her face and whispers calming words to help ease her anxious nature he sensed. He stands and takes in the room. Her house is very quiet. He moves soundlessly around the fireplace and sees a quaint little kitchen. Driftwood light fixtures, colorfully painted window and door frames in the same jewel tones that carry throughout the house. The kitchen is white-walled, sunlight from a window over the sink pouring in against the far wall. But the majority of light came from the two patio doors that led to her garden. A closed-door sits off to the left next to an open archway that goes down into a sunroom. He looks over the open shelves on the kitchen walls and is very excited to find tins of various teas lining them.  Old jars of pantry staples sit across the wooden countertops, some he'd say were from his time possibly, he wonders if she inherited them or if she simply had classic taste. He finds a small, dinky metal kettle and starts on making her some tea. He figured he needed something to calm her, finding her windowsill full of herbs he could easily use to make something to soothe her.
He senses something alive in the house, something besides the plants. He turns, seeing a large white long haired cat staring at him from a short hallway between two doorways to his right.  It swishes its tail and they both narrow their eyes at each other.
"Who are you, lad?" Alfie asks as the cat continues to sit and stare at him. "You must be with Mae." he says with a nod, going back to searching through the cabinets. "Not much for talkin' to strangers, eh?" he chuckles. "Must mean there's a little more to ya than being a common house cat."
Percival lets out a noisy huff of air, taking offense to the term common house cat. He lets out a low growl at Alfie. He could sense his dark energy and he didn't trust him. Although why he had brought Mae home and was now making her tea was a bit confusing if he wished her ill.
"I'm not here to hurt your girl." Alfie says, still not looking back to him. "I'm here to help her. You know she has powers, yeah? I'm here to teach her how to use them. I have similar powers, although I'm not a witch like her." he shakes his head, his fingers digging into a small tea tin.
Percy knew he wasn't a witch, he didn't feel like a witch, didn't have the aura. He lets out a typical meow.
"You can say somefin' better 'an at mate." Alfie grins.
He lets out another meow of the same tone.
"Fine, fine. You're protective, I understand. She seems like a sweet, soft girl I can understand your concern." he remarks as he looks at him with a sympathetic expression.
Percy moves to jump up on the kitchen island to get a better look at this new person that'd come into their lives.
"'Ello." he says, leaning back against the counter while the kettle fills.
Percy says nothing and continues to sit and stare as he had been.
"I'm Alfie Solomons. You're probably sensing my darkness. But I've had it for a very, very long time, yeah? We're in control, we're not gonna hurt Mae." he states again. "We're here because of her lightness. She's our mate, right? We've been lookin' for her since me 'n this darkness got together. So the last fing I wanna do is cause her harm, 'right?"
Percy tilts his head, content for now with his explanation. But he wasn't so sure what Mae, who had no knowledge of anything of their world was going to think about this.
Mae's eyes blink open and then widen as she finds herself at her home, which is not where she remembered last being. She sits up slowly, her head feeling a bit swimmy but she's quickly aware of that strange feeling in her stomach acting up again. This time it felt different, it was what she imagined a jolt of electricity might feel like. A humming in her ears she hadn't heard before, a warm tingling in her limbs. She wonders if she has a concussion. Her attention is drawn towards the kitchen. She hears the clang of something metal and the sounds of someone clearing their throat. Her eyes are the size of saucers again.
"Oh, shit." she whispers, eyes darting around the room, hearing movement and now humming and in a distinctly male tone coming from the kitchen. She moves slowly, trying to be as quiet as possible, feeling that vibration inside her intensifying and she reads it as anxiety. She sees her shoes have been taken off as they rest by the couch, which makes her brow furrowed in question. She peeks around the corner of the fireplace, see's the same man from her dreams in the kitchen, now recalling the man walking into her shop. Then she recalls fainting and rubs her head where she's guessing she hit the ground as if it might give her some answers. Why was he in her dreams? Was she having prophetic dreams now? Great, that's just what a weirdo like her needed, more weirdness stacked on top of everything else strange about her. Was she being kidnapped? Why was she at home is she was being kidnapped? Is this a hostage situation perhaps? Holding her for ransom in her own home. She recalls reading about Stockholm syndrome and makes a quick pact with herself not to fall into that sort of mess in her manic rush of thoughts.
She eyes the large cast iron skillet on the counter in front of her, and if Saturday morning cartoons had taught her anything, is that when you needed to knock someone out, that's the way to go. So she grasps the grainy handle in both hands, holding it to her chest because of its heavy weight as she tries to sneak up on him. Little does she know he knew she was awake the moment her eyes popped open. But as is in his nature, he wants to learn about how she reacts to the unknown, taking this as a learning experience about her. He can sense she's scared and he understands that much. But her reaction with violence surprises him. Perhaps it was his darkness being near that made her so bold and go for that method first. Maybe it was trying to mingle with her to even her out, make her less passive and more reactive.
So as he hears her deep inhale as she's about the bring the pan across the back of his head, he turns and stops it, putting his hand over hers as she's about to swing on him.
"Fuckin' 'ell girl." he frowns down at her short frame.
Her bottom lip juts up, her brow going low in surprise for his hearing her and being so calm about her attempt at murdering him.
"I ain't here to hurt ya." he says with that thick accent she heard in her dreams. "If I was would I be makin' bloody tea and layin' ya down all nice and comfy while you'd passed out?" he asks, his gingery beard jutting towards her as he spoke to drive his point forward.
Her large hazel eyes blink rapidly, taking in the new information, still wild and large and full of questions he could sense. Her mouth opens and her lips twitch but no words come out. He had a point.
"Now let's put this down, eh?" he says, taking the large black pan and setting it on the counter behind her. "I know you got a lot of questions, yeah?" he nods, his lips pouted out as he moves closer to her. "I know you've been dreamin' 'bout me 'cause I've been dreamin' 'bout you." his voice dips lower, but not in a threatening way. "Do you think there might be a reason for that?" he tilts his head and their eyes connect fully for a few seconds, that flame inside her makes her take a sharp inhale. What was this feeling?  He reached out with tentative hands, putting them on her shoulders to ground her, depart a bit of calm energy into her. She feels it immediately, not understanding the source. Her muscles loosen, her heart rate slows and it's like the best anxiety medication she's ever taken. "Let's just breathe... calm down..." he says nodding slowly and she mirrors the gesture without thinking much about it, their eyes still fixated together.
She gives a quick but still unsure nod.
"We don't want ya gettin' all excited and burnin' down the place now do we?" he says with a smile that tugs back the corner of his mouth. Her eyes go wide again and he feels that spark of fear come back. She recalls being angry a few weeks ago. The flames in the fireplace lapping out wildly for a moment, catching one of the plants on the rug on fire, the singed piece of rug still black despite her scrubbing it. "Yeah, I know all about that sweetie, come now." he says, putting a hand on her back, moving her towards the round kitchen table that sat in the space between the bar top and the sunroom. "Try some proper tea made by a real Englishmen and have a sit down with me, hmmm?" he suggests with a kind smile and a nod of his shaggy head.
She still doesn't speak but another series of quick nods as she places her hands flat on the table top and stares with those big enticing eyes as he moves about her kitchen. He pours the tea from the kettle in such a delicate way it takes her by surprise. He'd chosen her favorite mug somehow, an old one of Bessie's, textured like tree bark and cream, a funky green and orange mushroom on the side that she liked to run her fingers over as she drank. He sits next to her, pulling the chair closer to her, taking a sip and motioning with the steaming mug for her to do the same. She was taught not to take drinks from strangers but what is proper etiquette for a stranger, but not really a stranger, who brings you home after passing out then tells you secrets you've not told anyone else? Where was the after-school special on that when she was a kid?
"It ain't poison." he says with a chuckle into his mug. "See? I'm drinkin' it too. No worries, love." he says in a soothing even tone.
Once again she responds in a nod, taking the mug into her hands and taking a sip. It was nice, she had to give him that.
"Best start with the basics, yeah?" he says with a quirked brow, taking a deep breath and setting the mug back own. "My name is Alfie Solomons," he says with an authoritative tone. "I've been tryin' to find ya for weeks but I think you know that." his eyes narrow almost playfully at her. "I know Cordelia and Fiona-"
"I'm not going to that stupid academy." Are the first words out of her mouth to him and he smirks at her stubbornness. She was going to need that.
"Now sit on back, darlin' I ain't here to try to get ya to go." he dismisses the thought with a sweep of his hand. "I just know 'em and they know you eh? I'm tryin' to create some familiarity here understand?" She nods and keeps her face harder than it had been. "I'm not a Salem witch, I'm not a voodoo priest or nuffin' of the sort like Maria who does your hair."
"What are ya then?" she blurts out, her brow lower and her eyes more curious than frightened now.
"Someone that has been lookin' for you for a very long time, love." he says with a softer expression, his hand resting out of the table. "There are some things I'm gonna tell you about yourself, yeah? And I need you to believe I ain't here to lie to you because you're not gonna believe it. I know enough about you just by how you've reacted to me bein' here to know you aren't naive."
Her lips purse at the compliment, her eyes finally leaving him and watching Percy jump up onto the table and join them. He seemed calmed as their eyes met, a slow lazy blink as he laid down. She took this a sign to proceed. "I'll listen." she says softly.
"You are a very powerful woman Mae." he begins, a finger tapping the space on the table between them.
Her face scrunches and he can tell she's already not believing him.
"I'm not on about no modern feminist rant here, love, just hear me out, please," he adds. "You're very powerful and you need to be guided by someone who knows what it's like. You and I are very similar, contrary to what our appearances might indicate. I'm here to help you understand that power." he pauses, watching her face and she's still listening, even if shes' taking everything with a grain of salt. "You are a natural born witch. But beyond that, you were born with a very special soul. A very rare and powerful thing, yeah? I happen to have the same sort of soul. You might understand it best as a...yin and yang situation. Your soul balances out mine you see. Your powers are complementary to mine."
His face is very serious, she can tell at least he doesn't think he's lying. But crazy people believed their own lies so of course, he would.
"I ain't crazy, sweetheart." he gruffs out, furrowing his brow and taking a sip of tea.
Her eyes shoot over to him and she stiffens. Can you read my mind? She thinks with a tilted head.
"Yes." he nods. "But only to prove a point." he shakes his head and looks up at her from under a heavy brow. She gulps noisily. "You can do it too. But you've not had any discipline, no one to explain the strange things that happen to...and that's why I'm here." he says with a sweet soft voice as his hand touches her knee for just a moment, trying to show her he meant her no harm. He wishes she could read his mind so she would understand how entirely the opposite was his intention.
"To help me with my..." her face frowns. "Powers?" she says with a solid nod of her head.
"Precisely," he says with a large nod. "You see, every so often there is a soul created that takes a bit of ancient power with them into creation, into this world, this...plane of existence if you will." he begins speaking with his hands. "You are one of these souls. I think the term white witch might be easiest for you to relate it to. You've been denying these power and they keep manifesting in inconvenient ways, yeah?"
He sees the realization come over her face as she hides her uncertainty with a long sip of tea.
"Things explodin' when you're angry, your wonderful gift with plants. How you speak to them and they flourish. How every full moon you find yourself almost uncontrollably amourous." he says with a cheeky tone and looking away with a quirk of his brow.
She lowers the mug and frowns at him, giving him a warning glance. There's no way he could've known that.
"I'm not tryin' to start trouble, love, I'm simply trying to ease your mind that I'm insane." he explains with another low swing of his voice, back to seriousness. "I'm here to mentor you. It's how this system works. Our souls need each other to balance the other out. And that normal, part of how the universe keeps it's balance, yeah?" he nods and looks to see her processing the information.
Something fluttering inside her tells her to trust him, even though anything she'd ever been taught should be telling her otherwise. She studies him, thinking he looks perfectly human, but so did she, and if she, in fact, did have these powers then he wouldn't look any abnormal than she did. "I...I don't know why but... against my better judgment I'm inclined to believe ya." she says with a sigh that slumps her shoulders. As her nerves ease, her southern accent comes out a bit more, her throat not feeling so tight and it causes a little smirk to come across his face. "But I ain't really sold on it." she adds with a furrowed brow.
"Right." he drags out the word, looking around the room for a moment, trying to think of how to prove it to her. "Ah." he says, grabbing a tiny succulent that sat in a homemade planter that resembled Percy, he waves his hand over and it withers and died immediately.
"NO!" she cries out, taking it in her hands as her breathing picks up and she stares at the plant. "Poor little thing..." she whines, her face entirely distraught, her mouth hanging open.  She glares at him while stroking the plant and without her noticing, it starts to plump back up again. As she looks back down she drops it against the table, but only by a few inches and it thuds as a tiny flower that hadn't existed before starts to bud on it as it goes back to how it had been.  "Oh," she says with a straight face, only her eyes moving over to him. "I...I've never done that before." she states quietly, her face still in shock.
"You need to start believin' in yourself before you believe in me, love, see? Ya powers work. They're charged with your emotions right now because they're not trained. I can help you with that. You might be hesitant to my being here, but clearly, your powers aren't, eh? We can feed off each other in that way." he explains, taking the plant and studying her handiwork before placing it back where it had been.
He sees her eyes going cross before they squeeze shut and she lets out a little moan, reaching up to touch her head.
"Right," he says with a wrinkling of his face in concern. "That'll happen at first." he says in an unintentionally condescending way. It'd been so long since he'd thought about what it was like to only be learning of powers that he'd forgotten how draining it could be.
She moans and he holds her shoulders as she slumps forward. "So tired." she rasps out, her eyes looking a bit sunken, as they look up at him like a little, injured kitten.
"You're learnin' but you're weak, love." he nods, rubbing her shoulder. "We can make ya stronger, but now let's get some food in ya and get ya to bed, eh?" he says with a caring tone again, patting her head before pushing her back in the chair as she rests her weight on the table.
He rises and moves to the fridge, angling himself so she isn't out of his sight. His darkness is already impatient to get back to touching her, letting Alfie know of its greed to connect with her. But Alfie feels the sadness that's coming from her that it's choosing to ignore in its selfishness.
As her head spins, the frown on her face is not only from the uncomfortable feeling she has. She'd never thought she could be special. Only Bessie and Charles had even told her she could be but she'd never believed it. So it turns out she actually was special and that felt like it should feel better than it did. If she was different, then that explained a lot but it also meant she could never fully blend in and disappear like she'd always tried to. So she had to form a new approach to how she lived, which felt incredibly daunting and made her head throb. Percy senses her pain and walks over and purrs, rubbing against her face.
Alfie leans against the counter with his hips as he mindlessly put together a sandwich for her. He sees the deep blues around her, can feel the confusion and sadness and he wishes he could take it away but it's all part of the process. It physically hurts him to feel her pain, he hopes he can show her what a gift these powers can be. How it can make her life easier and all the perks that come along with it. She had so much love to give inside her and no suitable outlets for all that life to escape and flourish. She must be so unhappy with all that confusion and pain from a source of love and life only needing to be properly expelled, used and focused. He takes solace in knowing he can help her. They've found each other now and the wait was over. His darkness does it's equivalent of wiggling in excitement at the thought. She seemed so very sweet and kind, a real ray of sunshine in human form and he supposes she very well could be. He swears to himself no matter how this goes he'll do everything within his own enormous powers to help her figure herself out, learn how to flourish on her own. Only that would lead to a better life for them both.
Her favorite comfort sandwich, bologna and cheese with lots of mustard and pickles appears before her. He refills her tea and sits next to her wordlessly.
"So..." she begins, forcing her eyes open and taking a bite. "Ya gonna be teachin' he, huh?" her face winces as she turns it towards his.
"That is the plan, yes." he nods.
"You said you were lookin' for me. That means you're not from here, right?"
"Right. I'm not from anywhere really, just got into town last week."
"Where are you stayin'"? she asks
"I've been at the Academy while I've been lookin' for you."
"Ah." she nods, taking a bigger bite, her strength starting to come back. She weighs the next thought that pops into her head before she expresses it out loud. "I can..." she tilts her head back and forth in uncertainty, "I can trust you right?" she asks with a weaker voice than she intends to.
"Of course, love. I said I'd never hurt you and I mean that. Hurting you is hurting myself and that'd be rather daft of me seein' as I've waited so long for ya and my soul has waited even longer than either of us could fathom." he says with an expressive face.
She nods and looks at the table as she chews another bite. "So you would like.. protect me basically? Teach me how to use this and keep me from hurting myself?"
"Yes, of course," he says earnestly again. "I know you can be a little clumsy." he chuckles and she smirks because he's right. "Not gonna let ya hurt yourself." he gives her a smile that feels genuine, the hesitation and instructional tone in his voice now gone and only that charm of his handsome face and accent remain as she feels an unfamiliar warmness spread through her body. She wondered if it was the light she was told about. Should I ask him to stay here? She asks herself, her eyes studying his. And as if she was hearing a voice that was carried downwind by a breeze, the faintest lightest 'yes' she hears.
"I have a spare room," she says, her head motioning to the closed door by the sunroom. "If ya... wanted to stay." she says blinking and looking away from him. "I mean... would that help? Make things easier for..." she motions her hand back and forth between them. "Whatever this is." she lets out a huff of a laugh with raised brows, her face no longer looking sad and he's thankful.
"It would make it immeasurably easier." he says with a grateful nod and another dashing smile that she's not used to receiving from men that look like him.
"I don't want you to have to stay with those witches anyway." she shakes her head and looks away again, taking another bite. "And it's not like I live that close to them," she adds. "Would hate for you to have to do that every day." she shrugs. "Plus this way when I blow up a cauldron or whatever you'll be here to help." she smiles and takes another bite.
He knows she's making excuses now but he doesn't mind. Her capacity for kindness is showing already, inviting to share her home with him. He wasn't going to ask to stay with her but this was the ideal situation. "I can help with that, yeah." he nods and lets out a little chuckle, much like the one she'd heard in her dream, she feels that warm feeling again, like walking into the sunlight after being inside in the air conditioning. It felt good and something was telling her this was right and it certainly wasn't her common sense.
She finishes her sandwich, still feeling extremely drained but no longer dizzy or in pain. She shows him to the room, switching the light on and revealing yet another cozy space. The walls were white, it was filled with plants. A shelf full of ivy rests the length of the wall over a soft looking bed with dark colored and mismatched pillowcases, blankets and sheets. A southwestern style rug in pinks, yellows and burnt orange rests across the floor at an angle, a blanket of the same color scheme but different pattern rest across the lower half of the bed. A worn wooden dresser rests under the window, plants in pots, an old metal fan, and an incense holder sit atop it.  A nightstand with a lamp sits against the wall next to the bed. He sees a fireplace on the wall opposite the bed, giving a thankful nod as it would make his spellwork much easier to have it so close and with such privacy. Boxes with the names of her foster parents sit stacked in the corner.
"I can move some of the plants if you need me to." she offers. "This room gets really good light during the day so I put a bunch in here." she moves towards the window. "I'm sure I've got some darker curtains if you need them. This doesn't shield you at all from the sun." she shakes her head as her fingers tug on the sheer fabric. "I'll get the boxes out of your way tomorrow." she says with a kind but tired smile as she turns back around to look at him surveying the room.
"You can leave them, love, no problem at all. I get some curtains if it turns out I need them," he says with a dismissive wave of his hand. "No rush on the boxes either." he adds with a smile that reads as thankful. "It's a very cozy room." he nods with pouted lips.
"The bathroom is on the other side of house." she says walking out of the room and he follows. He sees the rectangular space. His eyes are first drawn to the old and large claw foot tub that had been painted yellow and hooked up to also function as a shower. The same navy paint on the walls as the living room, with white tile on the floor. A sink with a cabinet underneath, various toiletries rest on top of the small counter space. A large worn mirror hung above it with a golden frame that showed it's age. As was with the rest of the house, the plants had made their way in here as well. Leaves of eucalyptus hung from the silver hardware shower head, plants rest atop the makeshift wooden stands the fit snug around the tub, some of the leaves and branches falling down into it slightly. The shower curtain was shoved back and out of the tub, he took this to mean she took baths more often. A window with a bright paisley fabric cover keeps the view of the outside blocked. And old work of embroidery of a bouquet of flowers is framed and rests above the toilet. "I'll bring in a basket from my room for you to put your stuff in, there's not much room left under here." she says with her foot tapping the door to the cabinet under the sink.
"Much appreciated, love." he says, eyes still scanning the busy space. There was so much to look at in her home. She turns to open the other door, different from the rest as it was painted lavender.
"And this is my room." she says almost timidly. He feels the magic wafting out of the room as soon as she opens the door. The walls were a deep teal, a paisley purple rug covered the worn hardwood floor. A thick and plush mustard yellow comforter cover the bed, another faux fur, shaggy throw in strewn over the bed like the one on the couch. Her pillows are all mismatched, some with floral prints, some shades of purple. A fireplace rests in this room as well and he can feel the age in the house as he enters the room. The mantle is painted the same shiny black as the other fireplaces and pillar candles of all colors, widths, and sizes rest atop the mantle. Some in tiny silver platters, some melting down onto the wooden surface.
The room smelled deeply of lavender and seeing an incense burner next to a flat screen tv on her purple dresser he knew the source. A closet door of the same lavender color rests in the corner. A large chair next to a bookshelf sat next to it in front of a window with flowing jewel-toned fabrics and sheer panels create a blanket around the chair. A wicker clothes hamper and a stained glass lamp on the nightstand all fall within the same color scheme, the room full of all sorts of energy. A small table pushed into the corner with a runner across it, a worn little pink stool pushed under it with a laptop on top. Framed pictures of all sorts, from all time periods and mediums, cover the far wall, some she'd inherited, some from her weekend trips to the flea market. Of course, the room was not complete without a large palm overgrowing in the corner next to a standing mirror.
He felt his insides quiver. This was her nest, he thought. This was her safe space and her sanctuary and his darkness knew it too. The space wasn't as well lit as he imagined but it was night and he hoped he'd get to see it in the morning light, anxious to know what else it would reveal about her. She felt a bit exposed and vulnerable suddenly, there'd never been a man in this room before with her.  But he took in everything with a look of awe on his face, she watched his thoughts pass over his face, eyes tensing, lips twitching.
She tried to read his thoughts, but of course, she had no real clue as to how to do it, but she still felt no maliciousness in him towards her. There was something under the surface, she could tell. Something about him was timeless in a way. He had said their souls were ancient, perhaps that's where the term old soul came from? Without the new explanation of there actually being souls at all, and now knowing they could, in fact, be old, she thought the descriptor on a more lamen's terms still made sense about him. He had an ease about him, the bohemian sort of casual and comfortable style to him. The messy hair, the beard, and jewelry. It would seem their aesthetics matched well, which she hoped was a good sign.  for
"If you need anything, feel free to knock." she says turning to leave the room before looking back at him. "But knock first." she says with a stern nod of her head and he flashes another smile, happy to see her giving him boundaries. The lightness in her could make her too giving, too compassionate to the point of harm to herself and he was hopeful that this wasn't the case with her as she gave him a look that told him not to push it with her. "I guess we'll get ya a key tomorrow..." she says rubbing the back of her neck. "You have stuff with you or...?" her face contorts in question.
"I got stuff in me car, yeah." he nods looking towards the door. "I'll try to be quiet bringin' it in. You need to get some rest now though," he says with a wag of his finger at her. "Very important you take very good care of yourself while you're learnin', love. You can drain yourself and your health will suffer and we can't have that." he says with a clap of his hands. "So I will get my things, settle in, and we can convene in the mornin', eh?"
"That sounds good. I get up between seven and eight usually." she says, moving back towards her room. "So uh...goodnight?" she asks with a soft laugh for the unique nature of the very unusual situation.
"Goodnight Mae." he says with a nod and smile. "If you need anyfing, you come knock as well, yeah?"
"Yeah, no problem... uh...." he looks at the floor realizing she doesn't even remember his name. She lets out a laugh and rubs her head. "I'm sorry but I don't remember your name." she admits with a bitten lip and an apologetic glance.
"It's Alfie, love." he grins. "Alfie Solomons." he nods again. "You've 'ad a lot coming at you today Mae, I take no offense." he says with a hand to his chest.
"Thanks for that." she nods. "Movin' in and I don't even know your name. What a weird ass day." she shakes her head but she's smiling as her eyes shift around, trying to process everything.
"Things'll start to feel more normal again once we establish a routine, you'll see. It'll be fuckin' weird at first, I won't lie." he laughs and she's hit that warm feeling again, recalling her dream and the same sound she'd heard then as he moves towards her. "But we'll get through it together, yeah?" he responds supportively with a hand on her shoulder.
"I appreciate the honesty." she says sheepishly with a smile that reflects the tone.
"Ain't got no reason to lie to ya, sweetheart. Now you get on in bed. I can tell you're fadin' on me." his eyes almost twinkle at her as he motions to her door.
"Lock the door before you go to bed, please."
"I will. But if anyfing came in here, believe me, it'd regret it as soon as it met me." he chuckles again.
"Also good to know." she nods."Night Alfie." she says with a wave from her doorway.
"Night, Mae. Don't worry 'bout a fing!" he says loudly as he walks towards the door.
She lies in bed wondering what the fuck she was doing. There was a man in her house. Not just that but an attractive magical one that was apparently lethal and her... soul mate? She groans and rolls over to her stomach. Yeah, the term fit didn't it? She had too many questions but she knew she'd get answers as he'd already been very helpful so far. Well, helpful in the sense of turning her life upside down. But at least he was sticking around to help clean up the mess and make sense of it. She couldn't say she'd ever known any man to do that before for her. She decides to go to sleep on that hopeful note, wondering what she would dream about now that he had found her.

To our Lord Savior
Iggle Piggle.
Yep. Iggle bloody well Piggle. At 6pm every night this weird blue son of a bitch comes on my TV and my 2 year old is instantly silent, stretched out on the sofa like she pays rent!
It's an amazing cue for bedtime, the little shit knows that when Iggle Piggle comes on we calm the frick down from whatever sugar induced activity we're doing (this includes an array of things such as destroying my kitchen and living room) she knows that blue weirdo is time for bed. That after Iggle Piggle has finished snogging Upsy Daisy's face off we get snuggled in for bed.
We love Iggle Piggle in our house, the only person who REFUSES to watch it is my partner who admits I've spiked his dinner with something because he feels like he's tripping (don't tempt me knob head)
If you haven't heard of it. IN THE NIGHT GARDEN. Is a show designed for kids. It's full of bright colours and characters that you aren't ENTIRELY sure what they're supposed to be. Are they aliens? The characters all look completely different and all have strange names (Makka Pakka, Tombliboos and my not so favourite Pontipines)
This show is full of jingles and jangles and characters that don't speak but mumble and squeak and could possibly drive you to the brink of insanity if your kid didn't love it so much. It's a good calming strategy because it is literally that trippy that kids just do not have a clue how to process all this sound and colour so they just sit there and stare.
So for now, until she's too old I am going to sit back and embrace this blue bastard and all of his chums, I'm gonna sit and watch this with her because as weird and trippy as it is - we snuggle and we cuddle and we are quiet and we are well behaved for once.
So Iggle Piggle, this glass of Pinot is a toast to you.

"Where are we going again?"
"We’re going to Agnes and Metz’s house remember?"
"Come on girls," Jack voice echoed through the silent house," It’ll take some time to get to their house "Ryuichi did you change yet?"
"Not yet Dad," Ryuichi said back and went straight upstairs.  She shuffled through her closet and found a pair of faded blue jeans and a lavender shirt, which said, 'Save a horse, ride a cowboy.' Lucy rushed upstairs after Ryuichi.
"Ryu have you seen my flip-flops?"  Lucy asked as she searched the upstairs.  She was wearing a light purple kiddy shirt with Dora the explorer and Boots the monkey on it and a jean miniskirt.
"Are you gonna wear that?"  Ryuichi asked incredulously, Lucy never wore skirts like that.
"Yeah, Lindsey's mom gave it to me, it was too small for her niece." She replied while digging through her stuff.
"Aha!"  She shouted triumphantly and ran past Ryuichi down the steps.
"She's so weird." Ryuichi muttered under her breath and smiled.
"Alright girls, it's time to go," Elizabeth said while waiting at the front door.
"Hold on mom, I can't find my shoes," Ryuichi replied looking around her room and ran down the stairs with her sandals in hand.  They had all their luggage in the car and left just enough space to sit.
"Dude..." Lucy suddenly said as they started to leave the city limits.
"What?"  Ryuichi put her book down for a second to look at her cousin.
"We should totally flash or moon!"  She said excitedly.
"Uh no thanks."  Ryuichi replied and gave her a weird look.
"Not today girls.  You need to behave Lucy, or your father will take you with us."  Jack called from the front seat.
"Ah man..." Lucy grumbled and pulled out her gameboy.
"You’re so funny Luce."  Elizabeth laughed and tossed them some water.
"Hey wanna play in the sprinkler later?" Lucy asked Ryuichi nonchalantly.
"Maybe..." she mumbled and started reading her book again.
"Oh hey! Can we have some friends over if Uncle Metz and Aunt Agnes say it’s okay?" Lucy asked you could say she was excited easily.
"Sure girls but keep it at most PG-13 okay?" Elizabeth replied before Jack could add his two cents.
"Yippee!" Lucy shouted jubilantly and Ryuichi laughed.
Jack and Elizabeth having a conversation, music from the radio, noises from Lucy’s GameBoy and Ryuichi turning the pages of her book were the only noises coming from the car.  Everybody was silently hoping they would arrive soon.  "We're here!" Jack called and rolled down the window to smell the fresh air.  They pulled into a gravel driveway that led to a large white home surrounded by a small field and lots of trees.  A few feet away from the house there was a two-car garage with a room above where the cars were parked. They had horses and a nice house even a pool and an old jungle gym.  It brought back good memories for everyone in the car; they had all visited this ranch at one time or another.
"Yes it's great." Lucy replied; she looked very calm.  Ryuichi sighed and breathed in the refreshing air.
"Well I thought I heard familiar voices," Agnes replied opening the screen door," Metz, the children are here!!"
"What children?? We never had any kids!"
"We did too have a kid... she was adopted because I couldn't have kids remember?"
"Yes dear I’m only pulling your leg."
"Come give your old uncle a hug girls."  Metz called from the porch a cheery smile on his face.
"Metz!"  They yelled and ran to the porch and hugged the old man.
"It's nice to see you girls, but we only have an hour to talk before we have to leave..."
"That's okay, I wanna tell you what happened at school!"  Lucy chirped and pulled him onto the wicker bench with her.
"Me and Ryu got into a fight this year with some snobby girls!" she informed, he only smile and shook his head.  Uncle Metz was always the wild one growing up and he enjoyed hearing that his great niece was keeping the tradition alive and bringing her cousin into it.
"I'm sure you didn't start it right?" he winked.
"No actually, this girl did and then her friend tried to double team Ryu!"
"Really?  Gave hell did you girls?" he looked to Ryuichi who blushed a little embarrassed.
"Yeah I guess you could say that..."
The conversation carried on to politics and other monotonous things until the hour had passed.
"Well it was nice to see you girls." Agnes said as Ryuichi and Lucy helped her clean.
"It's so nice of you girls to watch the house while we go to Vegas."  Lucy and Ryuichi's great aunt Agnes said she was a small older woman with greying red hair.
"Now you girls behave while we're gone and feed Geoffrey."  Great uncle Metz added, he was their grandfather’s twin he had the same white hair and glasses too.
"Uncle Metz, can we have some friends over please... we'll be good!"  Lucy pleaded to him as she loaded the elderly couple’s suitcases into the car.
"Sure, why not just make sure you clean up the place and remember Geoffrey."  He smiled and tugged her cheek.
"Who could forget that horrible old parrot?" Ryuichi mumbled under her breath as she hugged each of them.
"Oh sweetie have fun and be nice to Geoffrey." Agnes whispered into her ear and gave her a very grandmother-like kiss on the cheek.
"Whelp we better go, see ya kids we love you, and be safe."  Metz finally said as he got into the car, they drove off leaving a cloud of dust in the gravel driveway.
"He reminds me of Gramps..." Lucy smiled as she waved; Ryuichi shook her head 'yes' and waved with her.
"Alright let's get this house in party shape!" Lucy yelled and ran towards the house.
"Wait for me!"  Ryuichi yelled and gave chase.  They ran through the screen door into the kitchen and tripped over Geoffrey's cage causing him to squawk
"Damn bird..." Ryuichi hissed as she climbed off Lucy who was laughing hysterically,” weirdo..." she mumbled and walked back into the kitchen to get the snacks.
“Are you calling everyone or am I?” Lucy asked looking through the cupboards.
"You are," Ryuichi said while handing her the cell phone.
"When did you get a cell phone?"
"I got it for Christmas.   I brought it with me in case we needed it," Ryuichi replied," Everyone’s number is in there except for Jamie and Lindsey’s.  I’m not calling them, you can.”
"Wanker..." Lucy grumbled and took the phone.  While Lucy was calling everyone else, Ryuichi decided to explore the house.  Everyone room had a familiar smell to it and each room was unique in design.  ‘Agnes was a interior decorator before she retired these rooms still look great.’  After her escapade of the house, she walked near the front of the house and went back onto the porch.  She looked out to multitude of farmland that they had and then sat down on the porch swing.
"Alright," Lucy said opening the screen door and walking onto the porch," Everyone should be here in an hour or a time close to that Lindsey said he’d pick people up and Jamie is doing the same."
"That's cool..." Ryuichi replied from where she sat just staring and remembering.  She used to sit with her grandfather on this swing, him and Uncle Metz would tell stories about their youth and albums of pictures where the two were dressed alike.  She and Lucy could always tell them apart, Lucy was closer to Metz and Ryuichi to their grandfather... though it didn't often seem like it.
"Being here brings back so much." Lucy sighed and sat beside her.  Her favorite pastime was sitting on this swing drinking homemade lemonade, Agnes old family recipe.
"Yeah, I can't wait to share this with my kids." Ryuichi said in an airy voice.
"Me too..." Lucy said and smiled; it was a relaxed smile one that did not often grace her face.
"Whelp!  We better get some food out for when they come... you think they have any hamburger?"  Lucy jumped up and spoke.
"Yeah I think I remember Metz mentioning something about killing a cow and a freezer."  Ryuichi laughed Lucy was a spur of the moment person sometimes.
"Well I want to make hamburgers on the grill you in?" she asked and ran to the garage where the meat freezer was kept.
"Uh... is it safe to let you do that?"  Ryuichi joked outwardly, but on the inside she was a little nervous Lucy and fire were not to be mixed.
"Of course I only caught the deck on fire once, and that was because my stupid brother threw the football at me." Lucy chirped as she opened the freezer and grabbed a couple packages of meat that were wrapped in butcher's paper. "What else should we have?"
"How about potato salad?  And... fresh french-fries?"  Ryuichi inquired
"Yes! And lemonade and some iced tea!" Lucy spoke and gathered the necessary items. She had lemon, potatoes, meat and other things she and Ryuichi had to prepare within an hour.
"You wanna start peeling potatoes while I thaw the meat and start up the grill?" Lucy asked as she reached for the matches in a cupboard.
"Sure then we can cut them and boil them and while that is going we can start the drinks.”
"Alrighty this is going to be fun!" Lucy skipped onto the deck that was on the side of the house to start the grill while the meat thawed in the microwave.  Ryuichi put the potatoes in water and started to peel.  It reminded her of when her and her grandpa would peel them for Agnes and grandma for dinner and they would sing or hum old Frank Sinatra songs even though grandpa wasn't that old.
"Hey Luce?  Is that fire started yet?"  Ryuichi asked as she finished the last potato, Lucy probably shirked the potato peeling for fire again.
"Yeah I was just staring into space, did you finish already?"
"Yeah get in here and help with the lemonade!" Ryuichi called out gathering the lemons off the counter and putting them on the table.  Agnes had taught both of them to make her special lemonade and also taught Lucy how to make two different types of tea, green tea that tasted like blueberry muffins and southern sweet tea. The green tea was an accident that everybody liked.
"It's been like a year since I did this." Lucy said as she sat down to the table, Ryuichi handed her a knife to cut the lemons in half while she squeezed and added other ingredients.
"You get a lime?" Lucy asked when she finished the cutting and started on the tea.
"Duh, that's what makes it Aunt Agnes' family recipe." Ryuichi stated matter of factly while she shook the pitcher to mix the sugar in.
"That and the whole cup of rum..." Lucy mumbled, she was putting two kettles of water on the stove to boil and checking the potatoes.
"You think you should start on the burgers?" Ryuichi asked and motioned to the deck.
"Oh my gah! I almost forgot... tell Lindsey to meet me on the deck if he gets here early." Lucy yelled as she rushed to the deck with meat and grill kit in hand.
"Okay then... the potatoes are about done... all I need is to put the lemonade in the fridge to cool and wait for the gang." she told herself as the cell phone rang.
"Hello?" she asked into the phone.
"Hey Ryu!" Maddie said on the other line "Hey look out the window... we're at the end of the driveway.."
“Okay, I have to finish something so see you soon." she replied and hung up.
"Who was it!?” Lucy asked from the porch.
"Maddie!  They're at the end of the drive so come in here and help me!"
"Can't gotta watch these or they won’t be perfect!"
There was honking coming from the driveway and loud shouting.
"Ryu go take care of that,  I have to finish!"
Ryuichi made a face at the deck and walked to where her friends had congregated.
"Nice place you guys, now where is my woman?" Lindsey asked with a sly smile on his face, the others only laughed.
"She's grilling burgers.." Ryuichi informed and pointed to the deck while giving him a look, he was smiling way too well.. creepily.
"I love a sheila who grills!" He shouted and ran to the deck.
"Hey something smells good!"  Mark said from beside Jamie.
"Hi uh.. Mister..uh" Ryuichi started to stutter.
"Just Mark today Ryuichi okay?" he said and winked.
"Oi Ryu!  You make food just for plain ol' us?" Will teased.
Ryuichi was about to retort when they heard Lucy squeal and yell obscenities at her boyfriend, something about not touching her somewhere while she was working the grill.
"Let's head over to the deck before she hurts him."  Jamie laughed they walked to the side of the house where the deck was and saw Lucy and Lindsey in a somewhat passionate embrace.
"Goodness kids can't you wait?" Lucas asked feeling that brotherly instinct kicking in.
"Oh shove off!"  Lucy grumbled and separated from her partner.
"Yeah, will someone come in and help me with the drinks? I have to start up the fryer." Ryuichi walked into the house.
"I'll help!" Will and Mark volunteered and entered behind her.
"Hey what did you make?"  Gavin asked while trying to steal a hamburger from the platter that was set on the table.
"Hamburgers, potato salad, lemonade, tea and soon French fries." Lucy said and smacked his hand with the spatula.
"Careful she's got good aim." Lindsey warned but everyone laughed when Lucy stuck out her tongue. "I think I'm in love." he joked.
"Oh yes you're quite the catch." Jamie said sarcastically and rolled his eyes.  "What's taking you so long Ryu, you having an orgy in there?!"  He shouted which made Ryuichi shoot out of the house with fresh potato salad in hand and Mark and Will following with the fryer and pitchers.
"Don't embarrass the girl like that Jamie."  Mark said endearingly to Jamie and sat the stuff on the end of the table.
"Yeah yeah." he mumbled and pecked Mark on the lips.
"I would like to warn everybody about the small amount of rum in the lemonade... and not to allow Lucy around the fryer."  Ryuichi announced and received a death glare from Lucy in which she replied with a shrug.
"Then let's party!" Maddie shouted and grabbed for the tea, she didn't like rum no matter how little there was.
"It'll be about ten minutes till the fries are edible."  Lucy said and passed the hamburger platter to Mark.
"You guys this is great, food, drink and friends how much better could it get!"  Cordelia complimented and the others muttered their approval.
"Well... how about when this is over a game of 'Strip I've Never' and if Mark allows us.. a couple of drinks." Lucy said from Lindsey’s lap, she was feeding him while he kept his hands in the back pockets of her skirt.
"Fine with me as long as it doesn't get out of hand." Mark agreed before taking a sip of lemonade and slipping his hand into Jamie's.
"Cool! I love that game, and I know who's gonna lose already!" Maddie teased and everyone looked to Lucy.
"Hey that's my sister, no ogling!" he shouted the girls only laughed.
"Dude, half of us are girls and taken." Cordelia reminded him while Lucy threw a fork at him.
Lucas only grumbled and bit into his burger.  The meal progressed and they continued the friendly banter till the sun went down and they were all inside.
"The food was great sheila’s" Lindsey said as he put away the last dish.  All the guys had offered to wash the dishes after the meal while the girls got the living room rearranged for the game.
"Who wants to sit where!" Maddie asked when after they pushed the furniture into a semi-circle.
"Linds and I get the love seat!"  Lucy shouted and claimed the mini sofa.  Lindsey swaggered over to her and promptly sat upon her making her giggle.
"Me, Gavin, Jamie and Mark, Maddie and Lucas call sofas!" Cordelia shouted and they sat on the two sofas that were pushed together.
"That leaves Ryu and Will with the futon." Lucy smirked when she saw Ryuichi flush bright red.
"Who doesn't know the rules?"  Maddie asked, looking around at all of them no one objected so she continued. "Alright since Ryu and Lucy are the hosts they get first turn..er turns."
Lucy perked up and got a silly smile on her face.  "I have never... worn an old person's dentures." when Ryuichi heard this she moaned in discontent and took off her shoes.  Everyone turned to look at her silently asking 'What?'
"It was in kindergarten, Lucy dared me!" she huffed and thought of one.
"I have never... dated a teacher." Ryuichi said and smiled shooting a look at Lucy, it was obvious that Jamie had, little bit that Mark had, but Lucy bent over and took off her flip-flops, that was the shocker.
"What?" she asked many only rolled their eyes.
"Who was it!" Lucas yelled angry that some dirty old teacher dated his sister.
"You remember Miss Calvin's substitute for a month?" She asked Ryuichi, Maddie and Cordelia nodded their heads.
"Laird Smithers!  You dated him!" Mark yelled eyes wide.
"You too huh?" Lucy smiled and leaned into the couch. "That was so long ago though, next!"
"Okay" Lindsey started " I have never made out with the same sex." Of course Jamie and Mark removed a piece of clothing plus Cordy and Maddie.
"Nina Abbot, last year." she said before they could ask.
"No way!  That chick is totally hot!" Gavin yelled and got elbowed in the gut by Cordelia.
"Tina Abbot that same night..." Maddie mumbled blushing even though she had only taken off her shoes.
"No way! You both made out with the Abbot twins and didn’t tell till now!" Lucas gasped
"Next!" Maddie shouted too embarrassed to talk further.
"I've never been caught making out or having sex." Jamie said and smiled when he saw Mark take off his shirt but raise and inquisitive eyebrow at Cordelia and Gavin who had taken off their shoes. "I don't even want to know..." Ryuichi only coughed and then removed an article of clothing.
“Who exactly did you see Ryu?” Will asked then glanced around the room.
She only giggled slightly then pointed to Lucy and Lindsey, then Jamie and Mark,” Same day actually… “
"Alrighty, I've never dressed as the opposite sex."  Mark said and laughed when he saw Cordelia, Lucy and Jamie take off and article of clothing, but Lindsey, Lucas and Gavin.
"I bet it was Halloween right?" he teased and Jamie only pecked him on the lips and humphed.
"Actually it was a family reunion for me and Lucas, Ryuichi didn't want to play!"
"Yeah well, it was dare alright!"  Gavin said nervously, but Cordelia shook her head.
"No his older cousin did a full-on makeover on him when he was seven." she added and giggled slightly.
Will sat there silent and coughed.  "I've never done a strip tease," he heard Lucas say.  He looked over at Lucas then Will kicked off his shoes.
"I've never had a one night stand," Will said as Lindsey removed his shirt.
"Who did you have a one night stand with?" Ryuichi asked curiously.  Lucy only stared at the younger girl.
"I believe her name was Tonya," Lindsey replied
"Was she an ice skater?"
"Not cool.."
"I’ve never slept with the opposite sex," Ryuichi said while turning red.  At the same time Lindsey, Gavin, Lucy and Lucas all removed an article of clothing.
"Alrighty my turn again!" Lucy said with an evil smile on her face," I’ve never watched or looked at a porno in my life!" At the same time all the guys removed something.
"Umm let’s see.. I have never stalked my ex-boyfriend," Ryuichi said as Maddie and Cordy removed an article of clothing.  Ryuichi had taken a look around the room and noticed all but a few people still had some articles of clothing left.  "All right, those who are down to their skivvies, they’ll be helping out with those who are still in the game," Lucy said while taking a drink of Lindsey’s lemonade.
Ryuichi who was down to her bra and underwear walked over to her bag of clothes threw on a pair of black boxer shorts and a magenta t-shirt and then went out on the deck.  She sat down on one of the deck chairs and let the rain sprinkle down on her.  Even though Will was still in his boxers and muscle shirt, he excused himself for a few minutes and joined Ryuichi out on the deck.  He smiled to himself then shook his head as he watched her for a few seconds.  Before walking closer, he noticed she had been singing to herself.
"Hey there," Will said kissing her on her shoulder.  She looked up at him and he pulled up a deck chair next to her as they listened to the rest of the game as it winded down.
"I have never threatened to assault someone with a horseshoe pole," Lindsey said as Lucy removed her final piece of clothing.
"I was protecting my brother what can I say?" Lucy said in defense of herself.
Everyone laughed while the game died down.  The view from the deck was very picturesque. The way the colors of the sky blended together it made it seem like the night sky would never fade out.  Will moved his chair closer to Ryuichi’s and he smiled at her.  They intertwined hands while the sky started turning dark blue and little flecks of lights soon filled the night sky.
The grandfather clock in the hallway started chiming midnight.  Ryuichi closed her eyes for a few seconds and instantly fell asleep.  Will admired the view from where he was sitting and listened to all the noises from the country.  He could hear crickets chirping and far off in the distance he heard an owl crying out in the deep forest.  He stood up moving the deck chair back to where it was and stretched before turning back to where Ryuichi was fast asleep.  He picked Ryuichi up with his free hand because she still had a firm grip on his other hand.  With his free hand he opened the deck door and walked in sideways.
"Did she fall asleep on you?" Lucy asked quietly while sitting her on the futon.  Ryuichi mumbled something before rolling on her side.
"Yeah but it’s all right," He replied sitting on the edge of the futon.
"I love you guys," Ryuichi mumbled," especially you Will."
He smiled and kissed her on the forehead," I love you too Ryu.."  He placed a blanket over the sleeping girl.  Will noticed everyone else was either fast asleep or wide-awake and talking.  The clock chimed 2 a.m. and Will had finally fallen asleep beside Ryuichi.  Ryuichi woke up for a few minutes to unfold the blanket that was on top of her and shared it with him.  She immediately fell back asleep afterwards.
By the time everyone had woken up from last night’s events, it was almost two in the afternoon.  Everyone else scrambled around the house cleaning up the odds and ends of the house that they dirtied up.
"Come on Ryu, we need your help cleaning up the rest of the house," Lucy said tugging on the younger girl's hand.  She yawned then several hands pulled her off of the futon.  After that, she sluggishly helped everyone straighten up the small country house.  Once everything had been cleaned, those who brought extra clothes got dressed.
