Witch Princess

Princess Meleanor was popularly known as the Witch Princess. Not because of her tremendous genius in magic, no, rather her notoriety in love. Though if you had thought it was because she had bewitched a hundred or a thousand men with her beauty, you would be sorely mistaken. She was known as the Witch Princess for she has turned every. single. one. of those who traveled far and wide to witness her elegance, into gargoyles. As a result, she has had a grand total of one official suitor in her entire life.

When asked why she did that, she simply answered: "Why, I am a woman who knows her worth. Those fools for a swine have a thousand years to go before they could even reach the foot of my grace. There is only one man in the world who could ever stand beside me."

And knew her worth she did. She was the one who pursued her chosen soulmate, and after fruitful years of steady romance, they finally exchanged their mutual "I do"s at a grand wedding bursting with blessings and cheers.

Rumors had it though that the best man, during his drunken speech, merrily blurted out why it took years for the princess to win the groom's love. She had been repeatedly rejected for a little less than a hundred years. Powerful she may be, still she was powerless under the utter cluelessness of her true love. She would allegedly burst into the best man's, which happened to be her best friend as well, room and cry to him loudly about her frustrations.

"How dare he reject me! How dare he! Who does he think he is? I do not have a dog, but if I had one I believe it would look like him."

... Allegedly, of course. As the very next day the best man held a press conference to tell the nation that the previous day's spectacle was nothing more than drunken jokes made up by a drunk man.

One of the funny twst headcanons that’s been stuck in my head lately is the appetite of diasomnia and how it might differ from the humans in their lives.

We all know about Sebek’s appetite. It’s mentioned over and over again and he’s always surprised at how little MC eats. Added with the fact he’s training to be a knight.

But I also like to think that the other three eats more than the average do too.

Malleus and his constant use of magic and any training he might need to go through would need the nutrients. He is magic itself so I imagine his consumption of food especially sugar related items are high.

There’s Lilia who’s always keeping in tip top shape and training the boys. Who does push ups everyday. Who’s able to keep up with Malleus even now. Who might have had food insecurity before but doesn’t now is able to eat more.

Silver, while a human, is stupidly strong. The constant being squished mentions in book 7 clearly emphasizes that. Along with the fact that he’s also a knight in training.

So I can imagine them all having at least 3-4 plates of food on the table for each.

And then we have our very normal human Papa Zigvolt and our MC eating their meals. Maybe 1 or 2 plates at most while all the fae around them eats enough for a crowd.

I just find the idea very endearing and cute 😂💞

Fuck the timeline, everyone please consider an au where the Knight of Dawn narrowly escapes from a fight that almost kills him and as he's limping through a forest to find somewhere to hide and recover, the woodland creatures find him and lead him somewhere. He follows, assuming they're leading him somewhere safe, but before he can reach it he collapses from his injuries. As his consciousness begins to fade, he sees Princess Meleanor looking down at him and he isn't surprised that she'd been waiting for his end, waiting for him to join her in the Underworld where he'd sent her.

Later in the evening, Lilia Vanrouge is startled by the door to his quiet little cottage bursting open. His prince and pupils have returned... and they have dragged the injured Knight of Dawn back with them. Silver runs up to Lilia and begs "Papa" to help the poor injured man they'd found in the woods, completely oblivious to how Lilia's blood chills and his mouth goes dry because his son this human child had so cluelessly brought an old enemy into their home who also happens to be his father.

We got to see Crewel’s reaction towards his pup proposing to her mate. So, what would be his reaction to hearing he’s going to be a grandpa to with each suitor. I know he’ll be too happy to have grandpups from Vil or a heart attack with Leona and Silver, since he has to deal with Lillia more.

In general, he’s conflicted between being overwhelmingly joyous and incredibly mortified. His baby now has babies!!! What!? Depending on who’s your baby daddy he’s leaning towards one or the other:

He’s just so fed up he doesn’t have time to directly hate on Silver

Who doesn’t always understand his malice anyway

So instead he’ll curse the fae general in his stead

But he’s just screaming into the void because Lilia lovingly ignores any protest he has

Crowley Levan is Meleanor’s “eyes, limbs, and husband”…wouldn’t it be cool if the one who married into the Draconia family had a crown/headpiece that resembled horns, worn for ceremonies, public appearances and the like?!

We haven’t seen Levan yet but I know in my heart he’s just a silly little guy as long as you ignore The Killings 💞

I talk more about concept art and costume details below the cut!

Levan’s headpiece is designed to have more of a live-action Maleficent feel, where she wrapped her horns in…fabric? Snakeskin? Whatever it was, it looked really shiny, oily, and really cool, so I tried to depict that texture to show how his horns are fake.

And sort of elaborating on the Draconia crown idea, perhaps each crown from every ruler who married into the family has its own unique shape? Levan’s halo-like shape is unique to him, so ones before him perhaps had more “traditional” dragon-like horns, and others had twisting ones like a sheep, etc etc. Since I’m OBSESSED with TWSTs religious symbolism- the Dawn Knight popped off with that winged helmet- I also wanted a halo shape to make Levan look slightly angelic.

The beads on his horns were slightly inspired by the mianguan, a formal headdress worn in ancient China. He also wears nail guards covered in shiny jewels… Let him be extra ✨

Levan having wings over his eyes like the Dawn Knight would be a fun parallel, and as a reference to him being Meleanor’s “eyes, limbs, and husband.” Like I mentioned in the comic, he covers his eyes and disguises his body under bulky clothing to be publicly dramatic af 😭 he takes his title way too seriously haha. The idea is that when he isn’t around Meleanor, he sheds his mask so he can report what he sees to Meleanor. But when he is with her, he “blinds” himself as a demonstration of trust. I’m sure he can actually detect his surroundings very well despite the mask- he just likes to play around and act dumb to make Lilia and Meleanor laugh haha. I haven’t thought much about the clothes under his cape, but I imagine it’s very like Malleus’ masquerade outfit. Something very streamlined and agile in case he has to enter a sudden battle or fly into the air.

And with my concept art, he was meant to have the shoulder feathers like Crowley and Malleus! They were like pauldrons covered in feathers. But when I was working on the final piece, I spontaneously changed it to fit the sketch for something more flowing and bulky haha. In my head, this bigger cape has a more “General” vibe to it? Something that draws your attention when Levan walks into a war room! Speaking of, I really love the fantasy-vibe of the costumes in Book 7- I feel like I can really go all out with Levan’s costume if the Dawn Knight is allowed to have a helmet like that!

This was super last minute in the painting process, but I’d like the inside of his cape to have constellations and stars all over it! I tried to draw the Corvus, Crater, and Hydra on the visible parts of his cape.

I prefer painting with ink far better than acrylic or even watercolor…so doing this in mostly black and white inspired me to give Levan porcelain-like skin, shading his skin almost like he was a doll and not a person. I think about how Diablo in Sleeping Beauty was turned into stone, so it’s meant to be a bit like marble too

I imagine Levan to have long, wispy hair that resembles briars and a bit like live action Aurora from Maleficent. Its very striking how he’s repeatedly described as “beautiful,” and although short hair is very beautiful in its own right, something about his mysteriousness and beauty gives me Aurora vibes specifically. Speaking of, Book 7 seems to be more obvious with combining elements from the original Sleeping Beauty and the live action Maleficent. Perhaps Silver could be the OG Aurora, but I can still give Levan live-action Aurora’s pretty hair haha.

When he wears his headdress and cape, he has his hair pinned up in the back. I’d like to draw my interpretation of Levan more in the future so you can see how his hair would look when it’s all down or in a ponytail. Perhaps Raven-Fae do more elaborate hairstyles that incorporates jewels/shiny things into their hair? Also, this inspiration is VERY specific haha, but if you ever read or watched Cardcaptor Sakura, Nadeshiko’s hair is very close to how I imagine his hair to be- very full and flowing! (Cardcaptor Sakura’s aesthetic snatched me up many years ago and has never let go since haha)

I don’t know, I just think it’s really cool yet ironic that Meleanor and Lilia talk about Levan as someone whose a crybaby, kind, beautiful, airheaded, but then Lilia casually drops that Levan is one of the top generals, an extremely skilled diplomat, and battled the DAWN KNIGHT and survived, when even Lilia hasn’t at that point. So I thought it would be fun if he had angelic themes in his outfit, while still making it clear that he’s dangerous.

Whoops this got pretty long! ∑(ﾟДﾟ) Haha, I think I like sharing my designs- not for the art it self but just to ramble about my entire thought process/inspiration/details! Although I try to get better at depicted all these ideas through the art itself, I can’t help but want to talk about it haha

It isn't every century Maleficent receives a summon from the ancient mirror, so her un-queenly haste to hurry to see to what lied on the other end of the mirror was excused.

What she didn't expect on the other end was a little elf ling, napping. Seven summers old at most she shouldn't be left unattended , biting back the urge to flinch Maleficent analyzed her sudden urge to coddle the dainty thing and the urge to smite her careless guardians, the feeling was not dissimilar to the one she felt around her Malleus, but it was a feeling she'd ever thought she could experience around anyone else.

"Unnerving isn't it? she does that to you."

Drawled out a voice Maleficent thought she'd never hear again, turning to see a rugged man she never thought she would see again, walk past her to scoop up the child.

"Scar"

"welcome to the fold old friend"

The way that...welcoming was said unsettled the queen of thorns, but from what she had gathered so far, this was their fabled flower, and from the faint " off with your head in the distance" it seems that all seven of them have now been assembled.

Ravens, crows, or corvids in general choose a mate once and live with them for the rest of their lives. The pair would take to the skies for synchronized flying as a form of love bonding.

So Meleanor and Levan would probably often go out together to flirt-fly. Whenever they'd fly out as adults, they'd probably remember sneaking out as children and trying to lose a very worried, panicking Lilia hot on their heels. Levan would try to sneak Meleanor back in before the sun rises, but they'd get busted by a chillingly calm Maleficia already sitting by her daughter's bedside.

I like to think Malleus inherits this trait from his father. He'd pass by Lilia's room to make sure he's asleep before quietly heading out to take you on a midnight flight. With a chuckle, Lilia would rise and sit by his window; deep in reminiscence as he watches two shadows gracefully gliding through the moon's glow. The boy may have unmistakably inherited most of his mother, but the quiet romantic in his heart is most certainly his father's.

Thinking about the Briar Trio (Malleus's mom and dad and Lilia) when they were young. Thinking about them getting into a tough spot they have no other way to get out of/needing to go somewhere really quickly, so Malenora picks up her friends and puts them on her back, which they cling onto with confused desperation and complaints. She then takes dragon form, destroying whatever building or forest they're in in the process, meanwhile Lilia and Revan hold onto her scaly back for dear life as she beats her wings and takes off.

As the crown princess of Briar Valley soared through the sky at the speed of a bullet, the fae below could hear the faint, fearful screams of her companions:

"YOU FUCKING INSANE PRINCESS—!" "SLOW DOWN!!! LENORAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"

Thought something funny, that Crewel daughter sort of meet Lilia and kid silver once when she was a kid, and he's the reason why she scared of just fireflies because he try to kidnapped her to be his son bride ( as faes do have a habit to sometimes steal children)

Reason to be in the forest? Helping grandpa gathering elderberries for natural dyes

And he would’ve gotten away with it too if it weren’t for that helicopter father of yours!

Seriously though Crewel’s aware that where your grandparents like to hang out are rumored to have fae-inhabited woods

He has nothing against them 

But he’d be dead five times over if he didn’t leave you with precautions 

Not just for fae but for any creature that should become enamored with his beautiful babygirl

So finding a playmate in a shorter boy with white hair and sleepy eyes are all in a day’s work for you

And post-haste Crewel is teleporting from the school or work in order to make sure your okay
