Looking east just after sunset: pink clouds and the belt of Venus which is that rosy glow just above the horizon.

The Morning Drive
Way back when I worked at my first job out of college and still lived with my grandparents, my grandmother wasn't yet retired and she used to drive me to work on her way to hers. Now, she really, really doesn't like the dark and hated especially in the winter when it was dark when we woke up and dark when work was finished. So I made a habit in the morning of pointing out all the sky phenomena that signalled the coming dawn.
Unfortunately, being in a hurry, we didn't often get a chance to stop for photos. But a couple times we did. :)
All photos mine. Two of the misty photos edited for colour, contrast, and cleanup.

Olive Diamond :: Belt of Venus :: 2022
* * * *
“The beginning of wisdom, I believe, is our ability to accept an inherent messiness in our explanation of what's going on. Nowhere is it written that human minds should be able to give a full accounting of creation in all dimensions and on all levels. Ludwig Wittgenstein had the idea that philosophy should be what he called "true enough." I think that's a great idea. True enough is as true as can be gotten. The imagination is chaos. New forms are fetched out of it. The creative act is to let down the net of human imagination into the ocean of chaos on which we are suspended and then to attempt to bring out of it ideas.” ― Rupert Sheldrake

First new art for 2024. A combination of copic markers and watercolor for the sunset, although the watercolors did not take as well as I'd hoped even after I soaked the paper. Better luck next time I guess!
I wanted to depict the sunrise/sunset phenomenon known as the belt of Venus here, which is something I have always loved but never knew the name of until now. If you're wondering, from Google/Wikipedia:
"The Belt of Venus (also called Venus's Girdle, the antitwilight arch, or antitwilight) is an atmospheric phenomenon visible shortly before sunrise or after sunset, during civil twilight. It is a pinkish glow that surrounds the observer, extending roughly 10–20° above the horizon."

Can you identify the 2 astronomical phenomena seen in the evening sky? The first photo is looking east in the evening & the last 3 photos are looking west, towards the sunset.
