Sprinkles: He looks down at the food, then looks over at you, and smiles the best that he could. You couldn't really see it cause of the mask, and he leans over bonking his head against yours. It's his way of saying thank you.

Crumbles: It really depends on if he knows you well enough or not... if you're just a random person, he doesn't accept it but if you're a friend, he takes the candy mumbling a thank you.

I know well, that Konig is from Austria and German language is a bit different from Austrian. The only reason, I'm doing this list for German language instead of Austrian: I know German well enough to personally check every phrase on my list. I live in southern Germany since 2019 and understand written Austrian, but would not venture to make a similar list for phrases in Austrian.

These phrases are not headcanons - just useful helpers for my fellow ficwriters!

I`ve tried to keep this list SFW, so there is no really kinky stuff or any swear words. But if you guys are interested - I can try to bring such a naughty list together as well.

Neither English nor German are my first languages, so there's a possibility of a mistake always.

So, you want König to speak German in your story, but don't know how to get him to? There is nothing easier.

(very) Ground rules

All nouns, names (and nicknames) are always capitalized.

Here are a few useful letters, so that you don't search for them on your keyboard: ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü.

"my/your + masculine noun" = mein/dein + noun or name (e.g. Mein Horangi)

"my/your + feminine noun" = meine/deine + noun or name (e.g. Meine Josephine)

"chen" is a diminutive suffix (We'll need that with pet names).

A few German pet names

Keywords to google: Kosename (+ für Männer/für Frauen (for men and women))

Genderless (can be used, referring to both men and women, depending on relationship dynamic):

Schatz / Schatzi - the ultimate killer and number one pet name out there. "Treasure". Is very often used in public.

Liebling / Liebe - "Lover, love"

Herz / Herzchen - "Heart"

Süßi - "Sweet one"

Baby / Babe - yep, it's not in German, but it's very popular here among people younger than 50.

Engel / Engelchen - "Angel/angel + diminutive suffix"

Mein Ein und Alles - "My everything" a rather pompous expression, but it can be used when speaking directly to a lover.

Goldstück - "Jewel. Piece of gold" a bit like treasure.

Schneckchen - "Snail". I know, this one sounds strange, but I've heard it here a lot. And this is not even referring to someone slow

he was the sinister shadowsinger, the feared spymaster, the lethal illyrian warrior whose very name evoked fear.

but to you, none of that mattered.

azriel could have walked up to you covered in gore and blood and you’d still find him adorable. maybe it was the way his nose scrunched up when he concentrated on his endless stack of mission briefs or the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he laughed too hard or the way his precious little dimples peeked out when you flirted with him to bring them out of hiding.

no one else could have gotten away with the countless nicknames you’ve bestowed upon him —pudding, pumpkin, cutie pie, and your personal favorite, honeybun.

the shadowsinger blushed all the way up to the tips of his ears every time you teased him, which only made you want to do it even more.

azriel groaned as you stood on your tiptoes and pinched his cheek. “thanks for helping me bake, pudding.”

the pink and white gingham apron tied tightly on his waist matched the flush of his cheeks. flour coated the tip of his nose from where you smeared it earlier. “you know, most people find me scary. they certainly don’t go around calling me pudding. or bully me into making cinnamon rolls in the middle of the afternoon.”

“the only thing that scares me is the fact that you haven’t blinked in two hours while reading your reports. it was time for a break. plus, i know you have a killer sweet tooth, azzie.”

“did you really have to make me wear the apron, though?”

“no,” you said with a smirk as you spread icing over the cinnamon rolls. “that was purely for my enjoyment.”

azriel rolled his eyes fondly. “you’re lucky you’re cute.”

you giggled as azriel helped you arrange the freshly baked rolls. his tongue darted out of the corner of his mouth as he gently squeezed icing on his row of buns. you admired him for a moment, grinning to yourself at the sight of the winged male covered in pink and hunched over in careful concentration.

“something smells incredible.” cassian said, bounding into the kitchen. he was shirtless and breathless and covered in sweat. “i hope you made enough for everyone.”

nesta followed after him, no doubt having just wrapped up valkyrie training. hot on her heels were rhys, feyre, amren, and mor. your friends paused midstep, taking in you and azriel. you were both covered in flour and wearing matching aprons. the shadowsinger froze in place, the heart spatula in his hand looking comically small.

“az, what the hell are you wearing?” cassian asked.

azriel sighed. “don’t ask. it was y/n’s idea.”

“you look like the sugarplum fairy from one of nyx’s bedtime stories.” rhys said with a snicker. feyre elbowed him, but even she couldn’t stop grinning.

nesta was outright gaping while amren and mor wore twin smirks.

“don’t be mean, boys.” you chided. “you’re just jealous you can’t pull of pink like az can. plus, he makes a killer cinnamon roll. right, honeybuns?”

the shadowsinger flushed furiously. cassian and rhys burst into laughter.

“honeybuns?” cas remarked. “oh you’re never living that down, brother.”

you narrowed your eyes. “i wouldn’t be talking, muffin.” cassian blanched at nesta’s secret nickname for him. “and you,” you said, pointing at the high lord. “don’t even get me started, rhys.”

the violet eyed male raised his hands in surrender. nesta chuckled as amren rolled her eyes. “neither one of you have the high ground on this. you’re all equally as whipped.”

mor nodded, dipping her finger into the icing. “yeah, leave y/n and honeybuns alone.”

the rest of your friends were in stitches. the shadowsinger sighed exasperatedly, which made you giggle even harder. a little smile tugged at his lips as you threw your head back in laughter.

azriel would never admit it, but he secretly loved all your cute little nicknames for him.

you squealed as he swiped icing on your cheek. “you’re an absolute menace, you know that?”

the little smile on your face melted his heart. “yeah, but you love me azzie.”

Stuffing her face with sweets, she has an enormous sweet-tooth. Would damage her reputation if they saw how much she gushes over good cake (one of the reason's she like Rugan so much lol)

Which one? She has so many? XD The fact that she is in love with Rugan... that secret is so well-kept because she is still sailing on the river of denial.

Her assets *smirk* no one expects such a sweet pretty face to be a cold-blooded killer. Everyone just trusts beautiful people more. The things Tayvin has gotten away with by just batting her eyelashes and looking innocent? tsk tsk. She prides herself on being beautiful but forgettable, no tattoos, no piercings, no identifying marks. She is here to get the job done and then disappear.

 Steven couldn’t gasp out the allurement you had on him when you pressed your palm to his cheek.

The tips of your long nails tickled the start of his hairline, and he inwardly groaned at the thought of you running your fingers through his curls and scratching at his scalp.

You were about to lean in when Steven painfully pulled away.

“Come on, darling. We’re gonna be late. Let me grab my jacket, and I’ll be good to go.”

A serpentine hiss escaped from your deep red lips, something Steven thankfully missed.

“I’ve been thinking of skipping. Let’s just have a night in.”

Steven looked at you with that wide-eyed lost puppy look.

“Don’t be silly, darling. I can’t wait for them to mistake you as the painting with how gorgeous you look.”

It was only until the elevator ride down did Marc and Jake yelled at him from the reflections over how he completely missed your invitation to stay in.

Marc Spector (would focus on the nails)

Would be very snarky about them at the beginning.

“How can you even hold a paintbrush with those? Much less your tenegre swords?”

In between missions, you may have to replace your nails, quite often, but with you kept them as long as you could…

… and sometimes even enough to inflict serious damage.

Bakunawa is a very proud deity, sometimes rivaling Khonshu if you would ignore the self-righteousness.

His prideful serpent-like behavior rubbed off on you by killer outfits and makeup that often resemble the scales that grew a place in your heart over the past months.

Maybe the outfits and makeup you saved on special occasions, but the nails were a constant.

Marc would never admit it, but he loves it when your nails change very often.

It reminds him how beautiful you are but can also be lethally dangerous.

The first time he found out about your frequent trips was when he went on a frenzy looking all over for you in London.

You mentioned you would be at the art studio that day, but the old man there said it was your day off.

Why would you lie?

Did Harrow’s crazy disciples find you again? What if it was someone from your village who managed to track you down?

But no.

You were chatting and giggling with a nail aesthetician who you were talking with in your native tongue at a high-end salon in downtown London.

You specifically turned to her because she was the Crawley to your Steven, and not many people in London would notice your incessant babbling over your three boyfriends… and your girlfriend who is always away on business trips.

Marc wanted to be mad, but he could settle being annoyed for now.

He knew why you lied. It was now his chance to be honest about it.

About how you actually looked hot with those nails.

How he was happy for you that you had some semblance of self-care after you go on missions with him and Khonshu.

Maybe he’ll tell you those words later.

Or maybe not.

“Was that your boyfriend just now?”

You smiled and continued to glance at him walking away and back down the street from the mirror.

“Yep. He’s just being a worry-tart. Always.”

“What design are we going for this week?”

“Something white and gold. Maybe a lunar design.”

Jake Lockley (would notice your makeup)

Jake is obsessed with your body, especially your face.

He could stare at your eyes for forever if he could.

One of his favorite moments are mornings after you stay the night.

He would just watch you from across the bed doing your makeup while holding a handheld mirror.

Jake offered once to hold the mirror for you.

You ended up being late for a meeting with your client because he became a little too distracting with all his eye-fucking staring.

He knows you love glitter and how you never skip on putting shimmers.

And he knows you know that he absolutely loves when you go out with the body glitters and chunky glitters.

Jake loves when your scales from Bakunawa’s iridescent armor emerge and shimmer into an array of colours under the lights.

Something about the power and confidence it holds.

It makes him want to worship you more than he already does.

So when you try to replicate that look during fancy galas, it would take all of his self-control to keep his hands on the wheel when he drives you both to the venue.

However, when the event is over, it’s all fair game.

You would be his own personal art show.

Because that is what you are to Jake.

Something to be revered, a feast for the eyes, art.

Often times, Jake wouldn’t even do anything but just hold you – skin-on-skin contact.

As the protector alter, Jake was often stern and always on alert.

But with you in his arms, all the tension in his body leaves by staring at something so beautiful as you.

Matthew by @danjaley - I said it before but this is one of the best written character I've read on Tumblr. Following him throughout his difficult childhood and adolescence makes me admire the man he's become. He hides very well his sensitivity under a gruff exterior, but he's opinionated, open-minded and strong-willed. And his friendship with Jonathan (a close second in my heart) is a lifetime goal.

Mel by @eternal-infamy - I miss Mel so much! My puppy-eyed cinnamon bun... He is just so raw and vulnerable, I just want to hug him and assure him everything will be alright. Mind you now, I relate so much to Serena that she almost stole the first place.

Robin/Kelly by @anamoon63 - I love Robin, okay? I would really like to get to the bottom of things surrounding the mystery of his lineage. I would also really like him to finally be able to be with Juliet. I'm rooting for him so much!! But... there is Kelly and she is sort of a side character compared to Rob but I LOVE her fiery, dramatic personality and how she got Dale wrapped around her little finger. (I may have a crush on her. :p)
