Okay, so is it just me or are there any other people out there who desperately wish that they would use/even just acknowledge the fact that, y'know, Ace still has a whole-ass dying cheetah planet in her mind, or am I the only one?

Wenn ich heute mit Leuten über Filme und Serien spreche kommt immer wieder die Frage auf..was ist Alf?

Für mich ist Alf eine wundervolle Kindheitserrinnerung, der Außerirdische vom Planeten Melmac der in der Garage der Familie Tanner Bruchlandet und deren Leben auf den Kopf stellt, deren Katze Lucky am liebsten verspeisen möchte und die hysterische Nachbarin Ochmonek ärgert und in den Wahnsinn treibt ist Kult.

Zur Zeit der Sendung gab es von Plüschtieren über Spielsachen eine Menge Merch zum kaufen. Heute findet man ab und zu für die die sich noch an die Serie errinnern können ein paar T Shirts mit Alf Aufdruck.

Der Humor ist natürlich veraltet, genauso wie das dargestellte Rollenbild und die jüngere Generation fängt damit oft nichts an aber ich rate trotzdem jedem der Serie eine Chance zu geben denn allein der Liebenswerte Außerirdische macht die Serie sehenswert

Make It So Friday

This is a book recommendation Tumblr, so, usually there’s no hemming and hawing going on (except for when there may be extreme things in the book). But, I will start out this recommendation with the fact that, for some reason, it was harder than usual for me to get into this book. Possibly because the Vulcan chapters vs. the Enterprise chapters are quite different voices. But, that didn’t last long. And, once I got used to the switching I even tried to guess what the points of the Vulcan history chapters were.

The story at its basics is that Vulcan is going to have a referendum on whether or not they will secede from the Federation. Starfleet and the Federation don’t want that to happen. A very loud bunch on Vulcan want it to happen. Not surprisingly Spock, his father Sarek, and the crew of the Enterprise are stuck in the middle. In addition, the ‘big three’ Spock, McCoy and Kirk have to give speeches for or against the secession. And, the part that made me most intrigued was that Sarek had to give a speech on why Vulcan ‘should’ leave the Federation. When that twist came up, I was just stunned, and the writing of that part of the book was so much fun to read.

So, I may have gotten into it slowly, but, it quickly became an engrossing book which is soooo not Canon anymore, heh, but still a really really fun read.
