Exploring the Wildflowers and Hillsides of Lincoln National Forest by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the south while taking in views across a field of wildflowers to a more distant hillside in Lincoln National Forest. This was at a roadside pullout on a graveled road heading to the Ski Cloudcroft area. In composing this image, I decided to get down low and capture a look across and then beyond this field. I decided to have the grassy meadow and hillside fill most of the image with only a little bit of skies above. I found the latter to be overcast and really didn't add much to the image or setting.

“On the 6th Day of the 2nd Month of the First Year of the Kampo era. Taking a moment of my free time, I wish to express my joy of the cat. It arrived by boat as a gift to the late Emperor, received from the hands of Minamoto no Kuwashi.

The color of the fur is peerless. None could find the words to describe it, although one said it was reminiscent of the deepest ink. It has an air about it, similar to Kanno. Its length is 5 sun, and its height is 6 sun. I affixed a bow about its neck, but it did not remain for long.

In rebellion, it narrows its eyes and extends its needles. It shows its back.

When it lies down, it curls in a circle like a coin. You cannot see its feet. It’s as if it were circular Bi disk. When it stands, its cry expresses profound loneliness, like a black dragon floating above the clouds.

By nature, it likes to stalk birds. It lowers its head and works its tail. It can extend its spine to raise its height by at least 2 sun. Its color allows it to disappear at night. I am convinced it is superior to all other cats.”

Rainy Evening in the Chisos Mountains and Big Bend National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the northwest while taking in views across the Chisos basin area to The Windows in Big Bend National Park. While under an awning at the Chisos Mountains Lodge, I wanted to capture this setting of a rain storm that late afternoon and early evening. The overcast skies definitely brought more of a shadowed setting across the basin with only the more distant portions of the national park beyond The window still in sunlight. That was my thinking and composing this image and having the mountain view in silhouette be that focus towards the view beyond. I chose to work with Aurora HDR Pro to better bring that complete setting in this image. I later exported a TIFF image to DxO PhotoLab 5 where I did some final adjustments with contrast, saturation and brightness for the final image.

I've been thinking about my iterator OC, Three Stars Above Clouds.

TSAC was created primarily to be a hub for observatories and institutions of learning, and a large part of their duties as an iterator were to catalogue and analyze astronomical data for researchers to use. Those researchers are, of course, now long gone.

TSAC chooses to continue their work, partially because the desire to collect data about the sky is hard-coded into their systems, but also because it is something they genuinely enjoy doing.

Their research has so far turned up nothing useful in terms of finding a solution for global ascension, but that doesn't bother TSAC too much. Their work allows them to develop a greater appreciation for the beauty of the material universe. For now, they think this is enough, at least until a solution is truly found.

I was inspired by the dialogue from the Bright Purple pearl, as well as the fact that the Milky Way is considered a river in the mythologies of many different cultures.
