Obsessed with Tommy and Kimberly reconnecting after years apart and slowly falling for each other all over again.
It starts simple, the Legendary Battle brought together so many Rangers, most of whom either hadn’t seen each other in years or just hadn’t met at all. Tommy greets the latest team with other veterans, letting them lead the charge in the fight alongside all these newly restored powers. Later, during the battle, Kim looses arrows that destroy some footsoldiers that would’ve gotten the jump on Tommy and the two share a nod. Been a while, but that small gesture lets them both know they’ve still got each other’s backs.
There isn’t much exchanged between for the next few years, Tommy’s raising a kid who was just starting to walk when the Legendary Battle happened, and that’s never getting any easier, while Kim tours and continues to compete in Gymnastics tournaments. She posts videos of her music to Instagram sometimes, shares them with friends and family. Tommy sees them and always makes sure to like, Kat has to show him how to share to his story once that feature comes around.
It’s not until Lord Drayven starts kidnapping Power Rangers that they really start talking regularly again. Kim calls Kat immediately following the rescue operation, checking on her. She says she’s fine, so’s Tommy, they only just managed to get JJ to bed. Kim’s glad they’re both fine, talks to Tommy for a bit, he tells her about the Master Morpher and she thinks it’s a bit self indulgent of him, but definitely useful. He laughs it off, just glad to be having a real conversation with one of his best friends again after circling around each other in all the team ups that keep happening all over. They agree to have coffee on the weekends just to see how the other’s doing, which Kat or any other of the original Rangers will tag along for when they know it’s happening.
Two years later, Kim gets to be the one to do a big team up, finally getting to meet the team Tommy mentored and fight with them. However brief, she sees the influence he had on them, no wonder Kat says he’s such a great father. For a moment she wonders how it would’ve been if she never sent that letter in ‘95, would they have had kids by now? Or would Ranger-ing have gotten in the way? She pushes it down, no real need to dwell on it.
Tommy’s flabbergasted when Kim tells him Goldar came back, is that just a thing that can happen now? Times keep going and changing on them, it’s hard to keep up sometimes. He’s a little relieved he wasn’t able to help with that particular fight, makes a joke about having to choose between his Dino Powers. It’s then that he mentions he and Kat are splitting up, which is part of why he couldn’t answer Jason’s call. He doesn’t give a particular reason, just that it was mutual and that they’re still co-parenting JJ.
Very briefly, Kim lets that thought back in, but quashes it. Not the time for it.
They keep having their weekend coffees, hang out with the rest of the team, all of them bonding over their aching backs and how their suits don’t quite fit like they used to. Tommy jokes that at least the other Rangers don’t have to carry around a massive plate on their chests, his shoulders have never felt more compressed than they do with the Dragon or Tiger Shield on. Kim jokes that she could absolutely carry it, no problem. Jason says there’s no way he could, he’s kept up with training but he’s glad the Shields are Tommy’s thing. They all laugh, and for a second it doesn’t even feel like it’s been almost three decades since Zordon chose them.
Then Robo Rita appears, and she takes away Trini. Kim’s distraught, Tommy doesn’t know what to do about it beyond just being angry. Billy and Zack go to tell Minh, while Jason leaves to go see his own family.
After the funeral, Kim can’t stand to be alone in her apartment, texts everyone to make sure they’re okay, that Robo Rita hasn’t gotten them while she wasn’t looking.
She texts Tommy, especially hoping he’s okay, asking if he wants any company. He texts back that he’s fine, but he could definitely use a distraction. They share a bottle of cheap gas station wine and talk about the old days, more than they usually would. Kim tells him some stories that he wasn’t there for, some he was and she just forgot. They fall asleep on the couch, Kim drools on his shirt and cackles about it in the morning.
Over the next year, they spend more and more time together. If not at one of their places, then the other. “It’s cheaper to make coffee at home than it is to buy it at a cafe every week,” they say to themselves, not acknowledging that familiar flutter in their chests. Kim starts to keep contact with other active Ranger teams, helps Billy develop the Bandora Protocol so nothing like what happened to Trini happens again. Tommy offers training to other teams as well, in case any recently re-powered Rangers need a refresher.
That flutter stays unacknowledged until the two of them, Jason, and others get captured by Robo Rita, have their powers drained and have to spend the next few weeks recovering on Aquitar. It’s there that the two of them talk about their feelings, how the life they lead can be dangerous, how they’re so old now, and how they’ve known each other too long to be holding things back. They share a chaste kiss not unlike that first one when Tommy asked Kim to the dance back in High School.
They agree to take things slow at first, but, being Tommy Oliver and Kimberly Hart, it isn’t long until they both propose at the exact same time and embarrass themselves in the Olive Garden.

getting soso giddy over my wip that's been stewing in my head and around my docs for literal years and just. sitting back and watching, really seeing, how candidly my characters created– the way they are creating themselves.
sure, i came up with the prototypes. but prototypes are prone to change. i may have developed the seedling responsible for their conception, but the exploding nebula that follows in the aftermath – their bloom, for the better part, is in their hands.
[i'm so proud.]
yes, oh how i love what you're doing. yes, keep doing it! – if it makes you happy, my little heart, keep doing it. your happiness is my own.
create your name. reach as high or as low as you aspire. go all out or nestle deep within. whatsoever you choose, i will adore you any way.
i will always adore you any way.
thank you for being mine. 🩷 it's an honor to be trusted with you. and i cannot wait to see how far we go together.

So Viz and/or WB are adverse to using non-existent trademarks like Weather Report but including the still-copyrighted in the US Astro Boy, Gigantor and Great Mazinger (which is oddly the only one of the three Japanese robots to not get the name localized. Although Mazinger Z was Tranzor Z, which hilarious considering there’s a 2019 Transformers crossover manga) are perfectly fine?
Least WB’s involvement explains why name-dropping Batman was perfectly fine and Viz’s involvement means Kenshiro and Raoh are covered but Gigantor’s US copyright apparently belongs to the Peter Rodgers Organization, Astro Boy Dark to Horse comics and Great Mazinger to Discotek Media.
