How Do You Style A Greenhouse?
Compost Heated Greenhouses
Will The Gambrel Roof Hold Ut To The Snow?
Cardiff Buildings: Welsh Architecture Designs
The design features one French door that opens the greenhouse up to the residence walkway and one terrace door that allows access to the fenced in garden. Awning windows line the rest of the structure and help facilitate heat gains by pulling in cool air as the heated interior air is expelled out the ridge vents. Circulating fans installed on the structure’s beams are used to assist airflow. Drip and misting irrigation systems provide substantial watering to all plants along the integrated benches that were manufactured and installed by Solar Innovations®. Four of the benches are equipped with rollers, allowing the space to be flexible and customized, while fixed benches are equipped with racking and a built-in stainless steel sink. Two cold frames provide a place to transition plants to the outdoor garden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The long face of the greenhouse is oriented south to maximize solar gains. To the north a concrete block wall clad in wood takes up the majority of the rear face of the structure. A heater and evaporative cooler, also supplied by Solar Innovations®, use this wall to exchange air with the outdoors. People have been trying to outsmart the seasons by growing plants in controlled environments since the Roman Empire. The greenhouse as we know it today, an often ornate glass and iron building, became more common during the 19th century as materials became more accessible. Striking examples are now found around the world, from classic Victorian-style conservatories in London to sleek and modern greenhouses in Australia. This backyard greenhouse can be right next to your outdoor gardens, adding the additional benefit of a potting shed. It can provide you with a garden paradise and light therapy at the same time — especially through the long winters. They also can provide an eye-catching backyard focal point, a place to pot your plants and relax in a tropical oasis. One of the simplest ways to build a greenhouse is to purchase a kit and follow the instructions. If you have some basic carpentry skills, you can also create a simple structure using wood and plastic sheeting or greenhouse film. Another option is to use recycled materials, such as old windows, doors, or even old shipping pallets. Once you have your materials ready, the next step is to build the frame of your greenhouse. This typically involves creating a rectangular or square frame using the wood boards. Once the frame is complete, you can then start attaching the walls.
How Do You Style A Greenhouse?
But remember that it is important to install the blinds on the outside of the window, especially to keep out the heat in the summer. In addition, I hope you might consider a follow-on piece about rammed earth dwellings. They are like kissing cousins of the Chinese greenhouses discussed in this article. You might think of a rammed earth dwelling as being very something similar to the Chinese greenhouses. Except instead of being designed for plants to live in, rammed earth dwellings are designed for people to live in.
The roof is constructed of steel and glass and covers 23,000 square feet, providing cover for over 1600 cubic metres of soil, all of which was hand mixed to a specific requirement.
If you want to get more from a larger greenhouse, then consider adding a partition.
We don't have a garage and need to build a bigger shed to store the snowblower, bikes, tools, etc.
Plus, a lean to greenhouse provides easy access to a kitchen garden or can be designed as small conservatories, glass houses, solariums or open additions to your living spaces.
Ventilation can be achieved via the use of vents – often controlled automatically via a computer – and recirculation fans.
You can use greenhouse clamps to secure the plastic sheeting to the frame.
This typically involves creating a rectangular or square frame using the wood boards.
The city lies just south of the 42nd parallel north and is one of the most northern areas where Chinese-style greenhouses are built . The walls of this unfinished greenhouse will capture solar energy to warm the structure at night. This woman is able to grow vegetables long into the winter in her passive solar greenhouse located in Ladakh, India, even when the outside temperature falls to negative 13 degrees Fahrenheit. Modern Greenhouse Design Inspiration have already begin landscaping around the base — so I’ll share ongoing updates as the garden evolves around the Modern Greenhouse. If you’ve spent any time around goats, you know they love to jump up high onto things and gobble up green or flowering plants.
Compost Heated Greenhouses
You could place rabbits and their hutch in your greenhouse to radiate heat. Another option is to hang plastic sheeting to divide the space and reduce the area you need to heat. Do you love the look of those Victorian greenhouses with their impressive vaulted ceilings and all-glass walls? They have ornate details and look like a typical building, but see-through.
Tumblr media
An unusual feature of this otherwise freestanding greenhouse is the way in which it can be entered. The pervasiveness of the structure reflects an interest in keeping exotic plants, which was a fundamental function of a greenhouse. In addition, the greenhouse allowed the extension of the growing season by providing a supportive environment for starting seeds, ripening fruit, and forcing flowers. If you want to grow plants out of season, or grow things not recommended to your zone, you’ll likely want to grow on benches.
Will The Gambrel Roof Hold Ut To The Snow?
This is so easy to put together with the thing you can find from any hardware store easily. Cover the frame with polyethylene film or another type of greenhouse material. You can use greenhouse clamps to secure the plastic sheeting to the frame. Purchase the PVC pipe and fittings needed to construct your greenhouse. Make sure to get the correct size pipe and fittings for the size greenhouse you are building. There are plenty of PVC greenhouse plans available here, but we’ve selected some of the best ones for you.
youtube
The material is 2-ply, with inner walls which separate the sheets and create an internal air space. Twin-wall polyethylene is infused with UV inhibitors and provides soft, diffused light while letting about 75% of natural light to pass through. Twin-wall polyethylene is milky white, or opaque, in appearance. An example of twin-walled polyethylene is the Solexx line of greenhouses.
Pallet Garden Ideas
Light enters the greenhouse and is trapped there by the glass and absorbed by the plants and other objects. As the structure is not open to the atmosphere, the warmed air cannot escape via convection, so the temperature inside the greenhouse rises. This differs from the earth-oriented theory known as the “greenhouse effect”. Not only because I love gardening, but also because greenhouses are gorgeous! Modern versions of the conservatory still have the same impressive size but get rid of the intricate details and increase the size of the glass panes. If you aren’t interested in installing a heating system in your greenhouse, consider building a cold frame greenhouse. These use the power of the sun and insulation to keep your plants warm. Then there’s the geodome greenhouse, which looks similar to the hoop style, but instead of being a long tube, it’s a rounded structure, like an angular igloo. Having a greenhouse can help you develop your green thumb by lengthening your growing season beyond what’s possible when growing outside.
Cardiff Buildings: Welsh Architecture Designs
The great thing about this one is that you can customize the dimensions, color and foundation. The Cape Cod Greenhouse is equipped with a fan and windows that open for temperature control. This glass to ground modern greenhouse design is available in 6ft, 8ft and 10ft wide options with length to suit. Designed for the practical minded gardener who aspires to having a beautiful Greenhouse structure, but also requires the functional space of a garden shed. Available in varying widths and lengths to work perfectly in your garden setting. Several new polycarbonate and acrylic materials are now made for greenhouse coverings.

Two Types of Ultimate Strength in JJK
I wanted to take the time to break down the two types of The Strongest we meet in the story and the way these four people are representing them. In this case, "The Strongest" means: a person with the power to permanently change (jujutsu) society.
Raw Power
Tumblr media
I struggled a bit with how to name the two categories, but ultimately settled on this. Raw Power refers to the people who get called The Strongest in text aka Ryomen Sukuna & Gojo Satoru. The strongest sorcerer in history and the strongest sorcerer of modern times. Their power lies in their attack strength and natural abilities. Their physical superiority lets them shape society and even affect things like the spawning of curses and the power-levels of sorcerers because the lethal threat they pose forces everyone to follow or die. In Sukuna's case there is basically only the option to die, although he did negotiate with the Fujiwara and they incorporated him into rituals and political plays (more like you would use an atomic bomb than him actively participating in discussions, I imagine), so he wasn't in kill mode 24/7. Gojo changed the behavior of curse users just by being born. He could kill the higher-ups at any point and put his own people in power to run society as he sees fit, nobody could stop him. He could block or instate any political system he wants. Recently it looks like that might actually be part of his plan.
Gojo and Sukuna have more differences though than Sukuna just being more destructive and forcing sorcerers to evolve or die. Gojo was special the moment he was born. Tengen literally designed him to be an indestructible weapon from a young age. He's smart too, but his physiology and innate technique already give him a huge advantage over anyone else and nobody besides Sukuna has even a chance at breeching that gap.
Tumblr media
As far as we know, for Sukuna that wasn't the case. His cursed technique, Shrine, depends on taking other skills in and collecting them. Add onto that large reserves of cursed energy and quick learning skill. He has a strong understanding of cursed energy and the soul (without a physical advantage like the six eyes) and that is the basis for how he is able to perform techniques like an unclosed domain, turning himself into a cursed object and learning to regenerate his cursed technique after experiencing it once. It relies a lot more on experience and study than in Gojo's case, despite also having intrinsic advantages like his large cursed energy pool. He is also more adaptable than Gojo as his fight against Mahoraga shows very well. Gojo's attitude is more straightforward, but he also rarely gets challenged to do more than shoot his energy blasts very precisely and with a lot of power behind it. He rarely gets forced to rely on other skills or trickery. In that way, he's actually much more the brute force type than Sukuna.
Plotting
This is the category I made up for Tengen & Kenjaku. They aren't very physically strong, not in the sense that Sukuna and Gojo are. Actually they would very quickly die in a straight up battle against the two, but they are still more influencial than them. I mean, Tengen is the reason society exist in the way it does after all and Kenjaku is doing a very good job at breaking the system down. If Gojo and Sukuna are natural disasters that alter the balance of the world, Tengen and Kenjaku are the ones that guide the path these disasters take.
Tumblr media
Tengen isn't a fighter, but she is still powerful through her understanding of cursed energy, huge energy reserves and mastery of barrier techniques. She created barriers around Japan to enhance the sorcerer and curse formation inside them (like a greenhouse for cursed energy). Society is dependant on her to exist as it is. If she's gone, all structure would collapse and curses would run wild. It would likely affect future generations of sorcerers as well. She is the reason Gojo even exist and Sukuna...well who knows what she did with him. She did all this "merely" through talking and building connections and subtly influencing people, like when she appeared in the Nara period and preached about buddhism and her vision for jujutsu sorcerers or how she facilitated the creation of the Big 3 and higher-ups and continued to guide them from behind the scenes.
Tumblr media
Kenjaku is more of a fighter than Tengen, they know how to defend themselves, but it is not their first instinct and direct conflict is rarely their preferred plan of action. Due to having reduced their body to purely the brain, their physical capabilities rely heavily on the vessel they inhabit and even in the body of someone like Geto whose technique they use much better than the guy himself, they would still easily get killed by Gojo and they have to rely on Sukuna at the moment to not die to him. You can also see it in their fighting style. They rarely get close, instead prefer long-range attacks and tools. Their real speciality lies in using other people to let them do the work for them or enhance their plans in some other way. Even Sukuna and Gojo fall victim to that. Another specialty of theirs is the manipulation of cursed energy and the soul, only that in contrast to Sukuna they use it to create tools, recruit people and create barriers comparable to Tengen's (I think technically they could create the same thing Tengen does, they just lack the energy reserves).
However, both Tengen and Kenjaku get overlooked by history and their influence is pushed aside. Even when entire organizations criticize Tengen for very valid reasons, nobody takes it up with her or actually challenges her in a meaningful way because she is both illusive (the higher-ups are much more present) and also an integral part for the sustainability of everyday life. Take her away and society will crumble and most people don't want such radical change. Kenjaku wasn't known at all until recently except by selected "curse users", despite their clashes with the Gojo clan in the past (I blame Tengen for their late identity reveal). Their actions have great influence and at times even make it into the history books, but they aren't tied back to them personally, just their vessels.
TL;DR: Next to Gojo and Sukuna's very palpable, aggressive power, there is also a more subtle power represented by Tengen and Kenjaku that relies a lot more on manipulation and minimal, longterm actions than physical strength. All this can be seen in the way that both Tengen and Kenjaku often get overlooked, but have both influenced Sukuna and Gojo to a great degree and are even responsible for the rise and fall of jujutsu society.
Kenjaku and Tengen are both barrier users, a very defence-oriented skill, but furthermore heavily tied to mind & imagination and the manipulation of energy. The reason they are so successful is also tied to their experience. Gojo's and Sukuna's power allows them to skip the long game in most cases, while Tengen and Kenjaku rely on it to amass strength. I highly doubt Tengen was just born with the cursed energy reserves she uses for her barriers, she likely collected it over hundreds of years. Kenjaku's plans would also be barely effective if they only had one human life span to enact them. And the interactions with so many other sorcerers allow them to learn a lot more than the other two could ever hope to. Sukuna is kind of immortal now too, but if you take out the time he was just hanging around as a cursed object, he's actually pretty young compared to the Manipulation Duo.
Side Note: I think Maki and Toji could technically qualify too, they have the ability to facilitate change, but both haven't done anything with it so far, not on a larger scale at least. Toji killing Riko had major consequences, but he was ultimately a tool and a stepping stone for Tengen's evolution. I mean, isn't it a crazy coincidence that the people employing Toji have the same goals Kenjaku does? The Time Vessel Association also exists since the Nara period... either way, while Sukuna and Gojo are getting manipulated too, there is still purpose behind their actions. Both the Zenin massacre and Riko's death are more incidental. Their actions don't have the same consistency as Sukuna or Gojo, although Maki is still promising. She can still do something with her new powers. In terms of strength they don't quite measure up to the other two either. Maki might make it with a bit more training, but not based on what we've seen so far. So...I guess, they might be Type 3: unused potential.

Catherine Borowski has always had an active imagination. As a child, she dreamed that the car park on her north London council estate would be transformed into a garden. The reality was quite different. “No one had a car, so it was empty, grey and depressing,” she says. Now a sculptor and event producer, Borowski has made it her mission to fill unloved urban spaces with flowers – albeit virtual ones.
She and her partner Lee Baker are the founders of Graphic Rewilding, a project to install huge nature-inspired artworks into the urban landscape. “Where real rewilding isn’t possible, our goal is to inject the colour and diversity of nature into rundown spaces, urging people to notice – and find joy in – the world around them,” says Baker.
The pair believe that flowers possess serious powers, even when they’re not real. “We know that spending time in nature is good for us, but studies show that even pictures of plants have a positive effect on the mind,” says Baker. He cites research published in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, which found that imagery of plants in hospital waiting rooms can help reduce feelings of stress in patients.
Baker, a painter and music producer, has long understood the benefits of biophilic design. Having suffered a breakdown 10 years ago, he found that drawing flowers was the only way to soothe his buzzy brain. “I would set out to draw dystopian landscapes, representative of my state of mind, but I’d always end up drawing flowers, which uplifted me,” he says.
It was around this time that Baker met Borowski, joining her production company as creative director. The pair have collaborated ever since, launching Graphic Rewilding in 2021. Since then, they’ve installed floral murals at locations including Earl’s Court station, Lewes Castle and Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush – all hand drawn by Baker. “We love galleries, but we focus on public art,” he says. “This way, our work is out there for everyone to enjoy.”
This year the pair have grand plans to create a series of stained glass pavilions (think greenhouses with colourful floral-themed panels), which they hope might find homes at Kew Gardens and the Eden Project. “The way light shines through the glass is magical,” says Borowski.
Even so, they concede that art is no match for Mother Nature. “Some people have suggested that our project detracts from real rewilding efforts. But both can co-exist,” says Borowski. “Of course we want more green spaces.” adds Baker. “But we aren’t gardeners. We’re artists. In the absence of nature, we want to create inspiring spaces through art.”
Overall, the response has been hugely positive. “The joy that these artworks bring is palpable,” says Baker, highlighting an early project in Crawley, West Sussex. “Many people in the town were employed by Gatwick airport and Covid had taken its toll,” he recalls. In a bid to spread some joy, the duo painted brick walls, billboards, benches and even bins with their signature floral flair. “Peoples’ reactions were heartwarming. There were so many smiling faces,” he says.
Elsewhere, in Earl’s Court, the pair transformed “a ratty piece of tarmac” into a modern-day pleasure garden, which is now often filled with children dancing and doing cartwheels on the way home from school. “Putting art into a place that previously felt unloved feels like cultivating joy where there was none,” reflects Borowski. “If something like this had been installed on my estate when I was a kid, it would have been a dream come true.”

I know none of my followers/mutuals will pull the "current European temperatures are fine" move but I want to say this anyway, just to highlight things to you.
A friend of mine has a conservatory in her home. To demonstrate, this is a conservatory:
Tumblr media
A glass extension to a home, which makes a perfect reading nook or breakfast area, especially in winter. This is EXTREMELY common for middle class UK homes. Like. I've not been in a single middle class UK home that didn't have one of these. It's essentially a little greenhouse, which is why it's so nice for winter.
Yesterday, the temperature in my friend's conservatory reached 60°C. That is 140F. And the wall between a conservatory and the rest of the home is glass too; that heat will leech into the rest of your home. Opening doors and windows will not do much other than create a breeze corridor with a bit that will heat your breeze. There is no air-con, only some shitty fans.
These are people's homes. There are still people who work from home. There are those wanting to go into work, but the roads were melting and the trains weren't running, because the infrastructure here is not built for this heat. There are old folks who don't have jobs and might be reliant on friends or family (who have to work bc it was a workday) to drive them someplace else. Going to a park instead isn't really doable either. I mean, would you spend your entire day in 40°C (100F+) heat outside?
When we say northwestern European homes are designed to hold warmth, we mean it. These are death traps, and too many people can't escape them. Meanwhile there are fires everywhere. Spain, Portugal and France are all suffering massive forest fires. A spark in a London suburban garden caught and half the street went up in flames.
This shit ain't normal. UK temperatures have never been measured to go above 40°C before, and they did so yesterday. And people are boiling to death in their homes.
So don't you dare tell us these temperatures are fine. They are for you, in your air-conned buildings and your limited times outside. We do not have what you have. We have conservatories and modern homes with entire walls of glass, and old homes with insulating walls and small windows which will not let a breeze through. You have tiles. We have carpet.
These are death traps.
(I do wanna thank everyone who's been writing supportive posts with tips on battling heat exhaustion and how to keep your home cool where you can. You guys are kind, understanding, and genuinely lifesaving. Mwah ❤️❤️)

Boudoir design for Lady Sigyn
A boudoir is a woman's private sitting room or salon in a furnished residence, usually between the dining room and the bedroom, but can also refer to a woman's private bedroom.
A cognate of the English "bower", historically, the boudoir formed part of the private suite of rooms of a "lady" or upper-class woman, for bathing and dressing, adjacent to her bedchamber, being the female equivalent of the male cabinet. In later periods, the boudoir was used as a private drawing room, and was used for other activities, such as embroidery or spending time with one's romantic partner.
Since Loki has just become the God of Stories and, as a result, the Emperor of the Multiverse… he can create his own castle for himself and his new wife.
I will be happy to present the boudoir design for Lady Sigyn. For Lady Sigyn, we will consider the boudoir as places for her own use like bedroom, living room, bathroom, dressing room...
While I think Loki's citadel would have been quite dark in color, I think part of it would have had a completely different aesthetic for his wife's use.
So let's go for our tour.
Tumblr media
First - enterning to her part of citadel.
Beautiful bright colors, stained glass windows with effect of illusions, nice couches for those waiting, and a golden elevator.
Tumblr media
After going up the golden elevator, we have a beautiful living room for guests. Modern, cozy style in a winter tone. Sigyn loves winter as she was born during this time of year. Comfortable sofas to welcome guests, a table on which to place treats and drinks. Windows have a wonderful part of illusion, clean air and winter landscapes. The living room also serves as a dining room. You can eat all your meals there. Lady Sigyn can eat alone or with her husband.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we go to Lady Sigyn's private library. Like her husband, she loves reading. But on the way, we have place of meditation. Greenhouse with stained glass and exotic plants. A nice place to reflect among nature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the greenhouse we are now at the library. A beautiful library with a warm fireplace and pink flowers.
Tumblr media
While places like the living room, greenhouse and library can still be considered somewhat accessible to guests… now we go to the private rooms. Now we go to bedroom.
Tumblr media
Lady Sigyn has a beautiful place with a rain illusion window where she can lie comfortably and watch movies like The Lion King or listening of music.
Tumblr media
Another part of the bedroom contains illusions in window about the effect of the city and its lights. Lady Sigyn has a comfortable bed, sofas and beautiful lamps.
Next to the bedroom there are three rooms - two-piece bathroom, two-piece dressing room and private swimming pool - Lady Sigyn loves swimming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bathroom consists of two rooms - one with a bathtub and the other with only a washbasin. The place with the sink is used for quickly and daily hygiene. The place with a bathtub is for morning and evening baths.
Next we go to the dressing room consists of two rooms - a part for make-up and hairstyles and a part where dresses and outfits are stored.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lady Sigyn loves swimming, so she loves to have own swimming pool. The swimming pool is located in a beautiful, sunny room with white walls among green plants. An additional place is a spacious terrace and a scarf swing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you for the tour of Lady Sigyn's boudoir. I hope that tour was nice for you.

Modern Family Mansion VIII
Modern take on a traditional Spanish mansion. Fully furnished, CC free, build.
Main level : entry, half bathroom, full bathroom, lounge/formal living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms both with a private full bathroom
Uppper level : master bedroom (with a private full bathroom and balcony), bedroom with a full bathroom
Lower level : bedroom with a full private bathroom, screening/games room, gym/spa/pool, laundry, storage, workshop and vault. This level has lots of room/potential for future expansions.
Garden : multiple terraces, pool, small playground and kitchen garden
Lot size : 50x40
Designed for the "Ward Den" lot in Del Sol Valley, also looks good on the "Thebe Estate" lot in Tartosa.
Packs used for the exterior/gardens and basic shell : Greenhouse Haven, Get Together, Growing Together, City Living, Cottage Living, Discover University, Get Famous, Vampires, Spa Day and Eco Lifestyle. Many others for the interior, mostly Vintage Glamour, Dreamhome Decorator, Perfect Patio, My Wedding Stories and the clutter Kits
Tip 1 : to create a 6th bedroom, I would suggest to move the dining room into the lounge/formal living room area. The dining room's size is exactly the same as the other bedrooms on the main level. Tip 2 : I would suggest to use the Ravasheen "Uplifting Elevator" mod (the shells), considering the scale of this house. Elevator "shafts" are already placed in the central staircase on each level.
Available on the gallery, ID : zerotwenty-sims

What’s your thoughts on arcane so far? You tend to have good takes on media, so I’m intrigued on what you think of it :0
I wanna say that overall I like it, but there are some things I wish they did differently or weren't afraid of portraying. I'll put this in short form because I feel like that's what will be good for my brain to categorize. I just finished it so I'm still disgesting everything and a second rewatch could probably help refine my opinions, but I'll put what I have so far (also note that I don't play league of Legends so I can't compare it to its game lore or whether or not its better, so I'll be treating Arcane as a standalone series just for this)
Things I appreciated, liked, and thought the series did well:
The animation and art style is gorgeous. I love the spurts of color throughout. I see a lot of references to art and art history, particularly with a LOT of inspiration from Art Nouveau. I feel like the Art Nouveau thing could specifically be intended since Art Nouveau takes inspiration in nature & plants, & one of the themes in Arcane is classicism & how the lower classes have less or little to no access to fresh air/clean water. Art Nouveau used architecture to both mimic nature AND depict it, & in Arcane the people of Zaun have to literally create greenhouses just to get fresh air, and you see the Art Nouveau architecture in Zaun, too. Their access to nature is mostly through Art Nouveau architecture mimicking nature, or self created through greenhouses. By extension, Topside (while still having references to Art Nouveau) seems more influenced by Art Deco, which had emphasis on modernity and luxury.
Classicism. I like the theme of classicism within this series because I feel like it portrays it very well, particularly with showing us the living conditions that the lower classes have to survive in, and how pollution is affecting them first, foremost, and the worst. Also explains why Silco was such a successful crimelord with Shimmer, since the shimmer can be used as medicine to treat illness and injury.
Characters. I think they did the characters really well, and explained their motivations, and their stories intertwining in a complex, yet not overly complicated or cumbersome way. Also a lot of really touching & profound relationships between the characters
Racism and sexism (at least between humans) don't really seem to be a thing in the Arcane world, which in a few ways, is really nice. The female characters are just as complex as the men, there didn't really seem to be any gender roles or prejudice between characters on the basis of "race" or skintone because of the existence of institutional racism.
On top of that, homophobia seems to not really be a thing here either, which is great. I heard that when Vi asks Caitlin if she prefers "men or women", she didn't outright say any specific sexuality because the writers said that it's so normalized, that this society doesn't even HAVE a word for it. I like that. I hope they're more explicit with gay relationships in the next season, and adding trans charas featured in the plot would be awesome
The Jinx vs Ekko fight. That gets its own point on this list because it was visually stunning, the music was killer, and it told a really tragic story with rich history between these two characters in about 2 minutes
The music
The eye motif that keeps popping up
Things that I didn't like, thought could have been done better, or wished they did differently:
Racism/colorism & classicism. I know I said I thought they did the classicism well as well as the fact that there's no racism (IN universe) in Arcane, but at the same time I feel like real world prejudice (irl) of the writers or designers or whoever else was involved leaks through. What I mean is stuff like how 3 of the more violent & less feminine female characters aren't White & are dark skinned (with the only other dark skinned female character is Mel), Mel is probably the most beautiful & most feminine female character & is a dark skinned Black woman but she's also manipulative at times (which I think is worth mentioning, even if it IS a character flaw, since Black women, especially dark skinned women, are often shown as controlling), you have like 3 Asian characters who are rich cops with one being VERY corrupt and working for a crime lord (on top of brutalizing the lower class), Sky is fridged because of a White guy's fault. A lot of the cops, upperclass main characters aren't White, and a lot of the poorer characters are. This is awkward because racism is VERY connected to classicism in real life, especially when talking about environmental racism, so this is almost sort of coming off as a "reverse racism" thing to me, which I don't think was intended, but still. I think in the very least they should have had more lower class characters of color to balance out this issue, but we only have Ekko (whom I love, Ekko is wonderful), Finn (who isn't a main character, doesn't appear much, & works for Silco), & Sevika, who again, is kind of a villian & violent & a foil for Vi, a White woman
On the classicism side, Silco is one of the main "villians" as someone who's trying to take down the oppressive state but he's also cool with killing children & torture & kidnapping, the narrative treats revolutionaries and those who try to fight oppression with violence (because their oppressors are being violent themselves) as if that's the "wrong" way to get freedom, most of the more morally grey characters are poor, the lower classes are frequently shown being violent with each other while the narrative was ALSO trying very hard to humanize the cops & upperclass people so we'd sympathize with them. I think they were trying to do a broken windows theory here, or trying to imply that classicism is inherently violent and creates violence, but I feel like it wasn't very effective or done properly & should have focused less on trying to make us like the rich characters so much, because this way it makes it seem like the poor are just naturally predisposed to violence, that the rich actually DO care about the poor most of the time if it were not for ignorance rather than because of their own classicism/belief of superiority & the dehumanization of poor people, & that most cops are just good guys "following the orders" of whoever is leading them rather than the whole system being wrong & most cops being corrupt or happily complacent. There's ways that they did or tried to show this, but like I said in a previous post, they should have pushed it over the edge.
Ableism... I don't like that Silco, Sevika, and that scientist dude are all kinda demonized & villians, but they're also disabled and/or disfigured in some way. Viktor faces this too, in a way. And again, they're all lower class.
The plot is very picky & convenient with who it wants to kill off & at what time, & plot armor is a fickle bitch. Somehow that little blonde bitch who was jacked up on shimmer was able to survive a direct blast from the hex crystals, but 2 people who had a door & a wall between them & the crystal didn't. Vander, who is MUCH bigger and had WAY more shimmer in his body, was also somehow not able to survive. Vi gets stabbed AND falls from a big height doesn't immediately die. Sevika gets beat up a bunch AND put in front of an explosion and survives multiple times.
I don't want to say I think her "villian origin story" is "weak" (although I don't like using that for her, necessarily), but I think it could have been a bit... stronger. Like Powder says "Vi isn't my sister anymore" & into the arms of a guy who killed her Father & was trying to kill her siblings because Vi went to sit in the corner & she thinks Vi "left" her?? Like kid... you SAW her go over there and sit down, you literally could have followed her over there. Vi was shitty for hitting her little sister & letting her cry by herself in the rain & an idiot for not booking it out of there WITH her when the cops were still looking for them, but I think it could have been more effective if they'd shown Vi get seperated from Powder FIRST, Powder be alone for a while thinking Vi left without her, and Silco progressively manipulating Powder before then her turning to be with him as a replacement Father out of desperation, because to me this just seemed too quick of a character decision for Powder to go from "I'm going to help kill this guy" to "you're my dad now" because of one argument with her sister in the span of like 10 minutes
This is a really minor one but, costumes. I wish the characters had bigger wardrobes & more clothes between all of them, but instead for the most part they all generally wear the same clothing or recolord of the same basic clothing throughout. Alternatively they could have also shown the richer characters with a lot of clothing, and the poor characters wearing the same tattered outfits to further demonstrate class disparity
So that's my thoughts on Arcane... I give it a solid 7/10 at least

https://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2015/12/fruit-walls-urban-farming.html
"We are being told to eat local and seasonal food, either because other crops have been tranported over long distances, or because they are grown in energy-intensive greenhouses. But it wasn't always like that. From the sixteenth to the twentieth century, urban farmers grew Mediterranean fruits and vegetables as far north as England and the Netherlands, using only renewable energy.
These crops were grown surrounded by massive "fruit walls", which stored the heat from the sun and released it at night, creating a microclimate that could increase the temperature by more than 10°C (18°F)."
Made me drwam of building a Fruit Wall Labyrinth garden❣️
And the followup, on modern passive Chinese greenhouses + Compost-heated greenhouses that work even in Siberia:
https://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2015/12/reinventing-the-greenhouse.html
"Justin Walker, an American now living in Siberia, is building an integrated system using horses, goats and sheep in a monastery in Siberia. Considering the harsh climate, the structure is partly built below-ground, while its protruding parts are earth-bermed. Above the barn area is a hayloft that provides further winter insulation as well as ventilation in the summer when it is empty. His compost heat recovery system produces hot water that is piped through radiant floor heating zones in the floor of the greenhouse. The CO2 is supplied by the animals. [6]
Heating and CO2-production can also be done without housing animals in the greenhouse. Their manure suffices. As we have seen in the previous article, the use of horse manure for heating small-scale greenhouses dates back several centuries in Europe, and in China it was practised already 2.000 years ago. Since the 1980s, several compost heated greenhouse have been built in the USA. These have shown that a greenhouse can be entirely heated by compost if it is well-insulated, and that the method drastically enriches the CO2-levels in the soil and in the greenhouse air. To add to this, the compost also serves to increase soil fertility. [6]"
WELL i googled the guy and turns out he's actually called Justus Walker, is a missionary in Siberia (!?!!) and has accidentally become a Russian meme called the Jolly Milkman due to an interview he gave on subsistence farming as an alternative to imports. This of course is an alternative Putin likes to promote, so he became a ~patriotic Russian meme. Apparently a lot of urban Russians fantasise about 'returning to the land.' The appeal of cottagecore is truly universal...
His videos are all in Russian, which I cannot understand-- he seems like a fascinating individual if not one I want to support. Convenient; he doesn't own money through ads so I'm not by looking at videos.
https://www.instagram.com/justusdwalker/
Also there's a book on compost-heated greenhouses not by a missionary who might support Putin's invasion of Ukraine (not sure tbh, though I guess he became a pro-invasiom meme?).
It looks interesting. I don't have room for all that so I guess I'll stick to trying to create a fruit wall, eventually.
