Highlights from Jodie Whittaker’s Gold Coast Panel
Host
So have you got any stories from Attack the Block?
A.
Can I think of stories from attack the block?
I would say that when we were shooting it just as a little like genius of Joe Cornish.
He is an encyclopedia of films and television. And every single element of it is some kind of homage to something you’ve seen. One thing that was really clever is there is no accidental lighting, so the entire thing is set at night so that every single light is deliberate. This stuff or that, like the kids train, is like, every single element is a choice. And you can't say that for most things, because the sun will just appear sometimes, and the sun can take full credit for the lighting. But in that film, he chose every single element. And that's why I think it's such a great film, because it's detailed beyond belief.
Host
Thank you. Wow. Can I see that.
Q.
What's your favorite memory of playing The Doctor?
A.
My favorite memory? There's so many, I'll tell you what, I'll give you a moment that's relevant to something like this. One of the highlights of playing The Doctor actually happened to me at a con, and it was San Diego, and so it was before the show would come out.
We were filming, and I got invited to come to this kind of the cosplay show. And when I got there, I was like, a special guest. And because I was just feeling really confident, I was like, can we not announce me? Can I pretend I'm a model?
I came out in my costume, slowly walking down, and I thought I was gonna get to the end to do some big reveal. But I must have a very obvious walk, because people started to realize, and the really narcissistic part myself, absolutely loved it because I got such a big round of applause just for walking. So that was a really amazing moment.
Q.
My question is about one night. Your character Tess has tattoos. They're only shown in two scenes, one in the first episode and one in the last I was wondering if they were both shot together, even though characters in different places, at different times, and the system of putting those tattoos on, because there's quite a lot.
A.
Yes, it was. It was one of the most influential stage directions I've ever read of a character when that doesn't necessarily feature as a main part of the story. So my character Tess, in a Australian show called One Night, I’m very proud of it is covered in tattoos and every tattoo was a choice, and designed by the incredible designer and all the creatives. And so there's no accident. But the first time we did it, it took about 4 Hours and we stood like this for what is a very small scene as well.
And then the next scene, which is however many months later, I think we got it down to 3 Hours but it was still, it was a long time.
But it was such an amazing character choice, the writer, beautiful writing that gave me so much, but I didn't have to necessarily articulate what that was. It was just she gave me this armor to be able to play tests.
And that is when I started to read it, it's only a few scenes into the first ep, I was like, I'm playing that part. I'm absolutely playing that part. because I just thought that was such an incredible choice.
Q.
I was just wondering, in regards to Doctor Who, was there anyone that you wanted to like come and appear on the show alongside you, like an old companion?
A.
Ah, I suppose I was spoiled for companions. So I think with that, I was, I would have loved, oh, it's difficult before, before we got to the point where I met my master, who is played incredibly by Sasha, and I adored every single scene I was in with Sasha.
There was a part that was like, oh, wonder if I get to work with Michelle. I thought that would have been incredible. So if anyone's out there and they write episodes of Doctor Who, I think that might be a good one.
Q.
Hi, and why did you decide to become an actor? Oh, that's such a good question.
A
When I was probably a bit younger than you i watched a film called goonies and if you haven't seen it highly recommend it stood the test of time and it is such an amazing film and i think what it does is it celebrates the inner child's because as a kid. I watched it and thought, oh my gosh, they're going on this amazing adventure. But then as I got older, I realized that could be a job, and then I got to play the Doctor. So it really is a job that you get to play pretend in the most epic scale, and anything is possible. So I think that's what I wanted to continually feel, was that I could be my inner child till I'm 99.
Q.
my question was, I love seeing, you know, Thasmin play out on screen in Doctor Who. And I know that you and Mandip had a bit of involvement in making that happen. So I was wondering, could you, explain how we got that.
A.
No, no we didn’t, so I think just the fact that Chris obviously knows us and knows how much we love each other. Yeah no we had no influence on any of the story lines. Obviously, we had that, the characterization, and we fully, you know, believed in and loved the direction that our characters went in, and it played out perfectly for me in my head. That is absolutely my kind of dream ending of where I saw my doctor. And the to the point of regen was with that side by side with Mandip .And for those two characters as well, I thought it was beautifully played out, but it was all Chris Chibnall. So I can take no credit, which also the video in the cupboard during lockdown.
I think people were really generous and thought I'd written it, but I didn't write that. Chris wrote it and sent it to me and said, I think it'd be really brilliant if the doctor could maybe, you know, say something. And so that was him as well. So I love that. I keep getting all this credit there. But, but I absolutely adored where our story line went.
Q.
You have obviously played such a diverse range of characters, and I'm just really curious about your process when you sort of get the script and how you create them.
A.
Do you know what? I can't write at all, and I don't want to be a writer. And because it's not within my skill set. And I think because of that, my appreciation the next level, I think 90% of my job is generally always done, I’m so lucky to work on extraordinary scripts, and a lot of your hard work is there, like I was saying about, Emily (one night writer), with one night. This wonderful stage direction is she's covered in tattoos. But those kind of details are just the best. Sometimes an entire character can be given to you in a tiny stage direction, or in a use of punctuation. Something can be a dot, dot, dot, and it has a completely different meaning than an exclamation mark.
I think that, for me, is the absolute side point. Take what you can from the script, and then I've been looking at what the directors and cast do it’s a really collaborative effort My main thing is, I don't like to decide or even kind of go there on how I'm gonna do something before you say action. Because if I do, I'm just a bit cluttered, and I overthink it, and I wouldn't listen to you. So however you were doing it, my brains go, well, I'm gonna do it like this, and it doesn't work for me. So for me, I kind of, I need to be kind of completely unprepared to be prepared, that not even answer. I don't think I should teach a drama school. Basically, not everyone can teach. And I can't.
Q.
If you could be in any episode of Doctor Who that already come out to 13, which would you choose? And why? The ones that you haven’t already been in
A.
I am furious if no one's seen it I'm REALLY sorry I'm furious I MISSED an episode with spice girls i Am Sorry… But how did that happen when i wasn't IN it? spice of your life i devastated, I was like, I'm sorry. What? But it's only because It was so amazing. Sorry if that's a spoiler.
Q.
I just wanted to see if you could tell us a bit about your audition process for Doctor Who.
A.
So it was an interesting one because it's secretive from the second the words are spoken. And my initial meeting was what I thought was just a cup of tea with my name Chris, because we did Broadchurch, and we were doing the junket and he was in town. He doesn't live in London. So we met up and we were chatting, and he’d been announced as the show runner. And I said, please, can i be a baddie? And then that was when it was, can you keep a secret? Depends. And it was, would you like to audition to play The Doctor? Um…I'm sorry? (Laughs)
But then it was a lot. It was quite a few rounds. It was about three And some of it was my husband taped me when, you know, at like, 09:00 p.m., when my kids asleep, and not gonna come in the room and ruin it. And I got, like, iphone wires and had to defuse something.
And we did it. Most tapes I've ever done, I've been sat on a couch and you make sure it's like a really tight two shot there. So my I was running around with an iphone as I was jumping on a couch and then trying to do the gobbly guke. And I say that with up most respect. And it was so stressful. And then when I got it, they were the most fun. I was so scared of those scenes more than anything. And, that's always the most fun when the doctor's just fizzing and working out. So, so it was over months, and it was very secretive, but then I finally got it.
Q.
I was wondering about your doctor. Is there a facet or an aspect of the of your doctor that you wish you could have explored more?
A.
I don't know. That's a good question. Um.
Is the one you like me to have explored?… No, just because I feel as if there's a lot of versions of The Doctor that I really enjoyed. And I love it, particularly around The Timeless Child, where there was this kind of deep rooted rage that would come out in a kind of slightly spitty, you know, frustrated way I enjoyed playing the distance sometimes when i wasn't quite connecting with the people that i was with i enjoyed THOSE elements because i follow such a contradiction to the not a contradiction. Just such a journey away from the kind of energized, childlike version of The Doctor that I loved to play But can you answer that? What would you have like me to have done it?
I think the depth of the distant of the doctor, was amazing But I think that I would have liked to see a bit more, um, a bit more unhingedness.
Okay, so we'll get an episode of me and Michelle, because we're really unhinged.
Q.
You've done so many roles that have legit, ripped my heart out. when is this trauma gonna turn into a villain arc?
A.
Oh, I know. I keep saying that, so keep, I keep contradicting myself, because I get asked specially after Doctor Who, what is it that you want to do? And I was like, oh, you know, I'd really love to play, like, I'd love to some comedy, maybe, or explore a character that has a lot of darkness and potentially not very likable. And then, you know, wanna kind of steer clear, maybe of, like, drama. And then I did one night, time. And this other thing. It's very emotional, and I don't know why, but I kind of keep breaking my own rules. But I would love to explore a villain. I mean, that was my initial thing.I want to be a baddie. But I'm glad Chris didn't listen.
Q.
I'm a big fan of Attack the Block, and especially the horror sections of Doctor Who, and I was wondering, what was your approach, and how would you think about doing the, your characters different in that sort of horror setting compared to other genres?
A.
Oh, do you mean, like, how would I do it or if The Doctor was in more of a horror genre or if me as an actor got to be in that?
Both. But you as an actor?
I'm into horror. That's kind of, let me say, to reference. It's like, one might be a bit young for it, but there was a classic horror for me that came out when I was like, 16, and it was right at the beginning, of the Internet so being able to have this mystery, because now we're so used to information been given to us by the Internet.
But when I was 16, it was that there was this found footage of these guys in a wood And then I went see the film. I was like, this really happened, oh boy, which it's really, really happened. And now you can't really create that that kind of, like trickery in a way, during a press junket, because we know it's a film. But I that kind of horror that plays that doesn't give you too much, I don't wanna see everything chopped up. I'm just not into it I'm too much for whim. But the psychological horror of the when you hear it, but don't see it. Those are the kind of things that I think brilliant to play.
But then when we did have things like that, with the Dregs, and we were filmed in I was chasing me and once you were stuck in a cage, and every time it hit the railing, it was really loud. And I go, ahhhh… I know the doctor's probably braver okay you know I, don't know how i did it ha ha.
Q.
Some Doctors have had input into their outfit. Others have been told by they can't have that. How much input did you have into the outfit?
A.
Well, so I had a hugely collaborative experience with the costume designer, and it started from the second we met. We met in a bar that he recommended. And the surrounding wallpaper was this petrol blue which became the trousers. I had a photo that I sent to Chris when I was trying to trick him into giving me the part I sent him all these photo references. And it was a woman. It's a black and white picture. I Don't know where it's from. I don't know if it's fake, black and white, and it's modern or I don't know but it's someone walking with purpose short trouser, tshirt boots so to me all of that, the coat was very much collaborative with ray because I would say things And he came back with the design of the coat that was so perfect.
I Didn't want buttons because I felt like it was pointless. Of course, wanted pockets. I wanted a hood, but I wanted the colors to be representative. Because of my first episode, I wanted to transition from was space through to Earth, sky. So the entire lining on the inside is a dark blue, black for space. The exterior is a kind of like sky blue light color. But also the into the the Suffragette colors are inside the sleeves. And it has my pride stripes everywhere, and yellow braces because it's my favourite color. So the whole thing, the jewelry was collaborative with Alex Monroe. It was amazing. I think I take more credit for it than it was me, because i felt like I'd go oh i came up with that and then actually, when i look back on it it was drawings that ray had done. Very much you gave him A pebble and he created a statue out of it. It was amazing.
Q.
I just first wanna say thank you for making a very queer, coded doctor. I just wanna quickly ask, we've seen David tenant come back for the anniversary just past, and we've seen doctors come back in the past. Would you ever consider coming back again and putting back on the coat and the zonic of everything?
A.
Hundred percent. I would love to, and I really, if that's not, I would be really offended, because I would love it, and it'd be so amazing. And you just, you never wanna say goodbye to It is the the gift role forever. And I'm still, I'm gonna grieve it forever. But I suppose the feeling is that you don't have to necessarily let go, because, like you say, other doctors have come back. There was loads in my last ep, so there's no reason for me not to bob up somewhere. But I want to.
Q.
Did you take anything from like the set, all your costume?
A.
I've stolen it all. I've got my jump suit, the prison jump suit. And just as a little fun fact about costume, all of the dates are personal to me. So there's dates all the way down the side, and there's a lot of Gallifreyan you know, kind of design. But all of them are a meaningful date to me. So that was, that's the kind of joy thing you can put into your doctor. So I've got that, so I've got my costume and me and Mandip very clearly heard ‘that is a rap in the TARDIS’ So we heard that on the last day of filming and she had a hold on the console that was like this massive ball thing. I snapped off the tiny mini TARDIS that spun And then, we hear and we're gonna do some pickup shots in the TARDIS without any actors. So I think there was a bit of swift editing there, because I absolutely wasn’t my fault. I heard cut.
Q.
When it comes to Doctor Who, do you have a favorite doctor from any era?
A.
I got asked this the other day. I'm not saying, it's not saying you don't like the other ones. I got asked recently about classic, and so I said, Sylvester But you said any you didn't say classic. I'm gonna say, Jo Martin. The episode to shoot with her, and the moment when her doctor is revealed and the costume and the energy she bought was amazing. And so, Jo Martin, hahaha.
Q.
I was just wondering, were you interested in doing the Big Finish audios? And if so, what kind of story would you like?
A.
I don't know. I get ask all the time. And I don't know. I mean, hopefully, is this something I ask them? Do they ask me? Big Finish? Well, obviously, if it, then if I was gonna do it, I'd really wanna do it with Mandip, but I would love to, I mean, this is, what is this job? You know, I've not been the doctor now for two other doctors, and it's amazing that you still get to experience it and be a part of it. So if being a part of things like big finish, or any of you the… I suppose, departments?, but all those other things that celebrate Doctor Who I'd wanna be in them all.
Q.
It's such a loved program. Is it what you thought it would be playing the Doctor like?So you're the figurehead of that program. You know, is it what you thought it would be? in as big as you thought?
A.
I think it's, it's bigger and more magical than you can kind of ever describe, because it's as a new whovian as well. And I'd said to Chris in the process of audition, look, I've not seen loads of it. I've seen, you know, bits when I was a kid, but we didn't have it on those in house. But then also, I've got mates that have been in episodes. I've done those auditions and not got in, you know, things like that. And so it has a very unknown quantity about it. To me, I was very much walking into something and going, okay, what is this? And I think from the second you get on set, and the crew, the crew I worked with, had been working on the show for twelve years. It was such a magical family and to shoot it in Wales.
Wales is one of the most beautiful countries you can ever visit.
So to be there and to be in this ready made family of something that all the hard work's been done because all the other doctors build up this family , you just shouldn't lose it. And so then to have our journey and our story lines, and to then have this opportunity where we went out to press or we met fans, and to have the interaction and to speak to people, to see how much it's meant to them through their life, is so extraordinary, because for me And I can definitely say it and for Mandip as well, that it's our happiest time as actors. We've never been happier, and we knew when we were in it. Ah, this is this. It's just so nice, and there's just so much, just wonderful about it. And I think that needs forever. This is so easy to talk about, so easy to be in this room and do it because I wouldn't have to, I've never fake how much I love it. I loved it, but as a new whovian. And I'm like, oh, I get it. Hahaha. I one of a family then. Haha. That's it. I'm in.
Q.
Do you ever get nervous when you're playing The Doctor?
A.
I was nervous all the time. I know The most nervous, I think I've ever been on a set was in my first week of shoot in The Doctor. It was my hero speech at the end of episode one. So my very first day involved jumping between cranes. Mind you I’ve only ever run around and cried on most jobs. So jumping between cranes was a whole new thing. And on day two, I think it was my huge kind of realization of, I know who I am, I am the doctor, and saying that for the first time, and thinking, if you mess this up, there's still time to recast I've been here two days. So that was the most nerve racking.
And I think sometimes another time when I was nervous as well, we had Stephen Fry come in And I was a bit like, you might not remember me, but I was in St. Trinian's And we kind of had a scene in St. Trinian's, isn't it was, you know. And so him being on set, I was just so nervous, because I was just like, he's a legend to me. So this is very… I think if you're not scared and you haven't got the adrenaline of nerves, you're taking it for granted.
Q.
Who is your least favorite doctor?
A
There's nobody, the craziest answer. I haven't got one.
Q.
Did you ever think you would have had such the impact on the doctor who community?
A.
The thing that's such a joy for me playing the Doctor, the thing that I really quickly realized was that it. I adore this community, and I feel that everyone in the fandom should feel represented and what I feel really proud of with ours, which has nothing to do with me, like you saying about, when, you know, with me and Mandip had credit to that story, and we didn't in that way, but it was, that was the beautiful transition of this gorgeous journey that we'd been on. And I think that because it then resonated so powerfully to so many people, that is the all of a Christmas Day gift, because what you want is you want your work to, to speak to people, and you also wanna feel as if everyone feels seen. And I think that that's what I'm really, proud of.
Whenever I have these wonderful interactions with people, they say that the doctor means this or someone else's doctor means that for me, that very often is having that wonderful moment where someone feels like that storyline really spoke to them. And I think I can't take any credit for it because I didn't write it, but I loved being a part of it.

another potential conflict in the world
venezuela is claiming that roughly 2/3 of neighbouring guyana belongs to them. this is an area rich with minerals such as gold and copper and more recently oil was discovered there.
the claim is that venezuela inherited the land when they gained independence from the spanish however its passed hands and been alotted through international arbitration to guyana. venezuela rejects all international court decisions about the esequiba region and is currently holding a referendum about whether to reclaim those lands. this referendum involves zero of the people living in the region. its venezuela asking itself whether part of another country belongs to them.
there has been no concrete plans proposed on how to reclaim the esequiba but it is tantamount to invasion plans. the venezuelan president is already moving troops to the border while claiming guyana are the aggressors for doing the same.
renewed efforts to claim the esequiba have come due to oil being discovered off the coast in 2015. unfortunately there are many ways of dishonest actors to spin this potential war into something justified. venezuela has been in an economic crisis for many years partly due to american sanctions over the maduro govt repressing protests violently. guyana is also the only english speaking country in south america so allegations of collusion will abound.
questions to ask coverage you see if war does break out:
if venezuelans are economically repressed due to western influence, how can they afford to mount an invasion? war is one of the most expensive endeavours on the planet.
does venezuela have an ancestral claim over these lands when they inherited it from a colonial power? why is guyana speaking english due to colonialism suspect compared to venezuela speaking spanish due to colonialism?
why did venezuela leave this issue basically untouched for 50 years until more natural resources were discovered in the region?
this issue will be very quickly turned into venezuela versus america and the british while completely ignoring the pleas of the guyana people to prevent this and to aid if war breaks out

J2 Gold Panel Minncon 2023
Quick psa/reminder that this con took place while the actor’s union, SAG-AFTRA, is on strike. This means the boys cannot talk about any past, present, or future projects. But for the sake of clarity, I will be mentioning projects the boys are referring to by name.
Before the panel starts Jared notices a fan with an I heart Jensen sign, and says he does too.
Jared shows off a bit of his and Jensen's unspoken lingo, he does the sign for a brief pause. They got it from their director, Jensen says they had a lot of different hand signals for communication, and they also had names for certain types of shots. Jared mentions they had a friend in Van who's a larger individual and was always smoking pot so if they start the scene with a high and wide shot they'd call it the Murph. When the camera is on the dolly track and does a creep in if it's a little creep they'd call it a Mickey Rooney then Jensen says there are other ones they won't mention because they're very inappropriate.
Jared reminds fans that actors are currently on strike and thanks the fans for their understanding if there are any questions that they cannot answer. Jensen says that Jared can talk about his gardening skills and Jared says he loves him some zucchini and that he harvested some the previous week...I'm not gonna say it, but you know what I'm thinking 😉
Do they follow the Texas country music scene?
Jared always goes back to when in High School or Middle School Robert Earl King. Or Pat Green.
Jensen mentions Jerry Jeff Walker. He also says Texas certainly has its own country core, it's not like traditional Nashville country. x
The next fan had already asked Jared this question and now they want to know Jensen's answer: what kind of car would he have if money was no problem?
He doesn't have a holy grail and the reason he doesn't is because if he did he'd spend all his time figuring out how to get it; he'll watch car auction shows, used to watch them with Clif, and every one of them he'll want. He did see one car once, he and Jared had the opportunity to go to Concours d'Elegance which is the best, greatest car show there is in Pebble Beach. They close off the 18-hole golf course and line up the cars all along the fairways. It's right there on the coast and they were walking past the pre-world war cars and he saw an Austin Martin that took his breath away. He was like "this is outrageous you probably can't even get your hands on this" but if he ever had the opportunity to own something like that- he took more pictures of that car than any other car. x
The next fan doesn't have a question, they just wanted the boys to wish her a happy birthday and also show the tattoo she has of Jensen's face on the inside of her thigh, which took her 6hrs to get done. Jared jokes Jensen can't last six hours 🤣
What's the backstory behind the bracelets Jensen sometimes wears?
They've all been gifted to him by someone in his life, usually his wife or his daughter but he has friends that he has also traded with; there's always some sort of a back story to what he's wearing he doesn't usually go shopping and just buy stuff.
Then they get told a naughty joke: if a blackbird has black babies and a bluebird has blue babies what bird has no babies? A swallow. Both men have to walk away from the mic 🤣
Jared asks the next fan if they have any babies and even he's wondering why he says what comes into his head 😂
If they had to pick tattoos for each other what would they pick out?
Jensen points towards the fan that has his face tattoed on her inner tigh and says she already has it he would put his face on Jared's and Jared says "yeah I'd be more handsome." Gentlemen 👀
Jensen then says would put a bear growling on Jared's right hand. And Jared's like "why do they exist?" and Jensen just goes "to scare big things like you." Which I found a cute little exchange.
Jared would make Jensen get an enter at your own risk and an arrow pointing to somewhere that he's not gonna say but it would be in an old English cursive writing. Again 👀
Jared asks the fan what they would put on them and the fan replies that they would ask what they love and what describes them
Jensen comments that he and Jared had talked about getting something that represents SPN because when you're in it you're not thinking about how long the show is gonna go and so you know they talked about maybe getting the anti-possession tattoo or there was also talk about symbols of MOL but it's really come down that now that they're a few years removed from it and they're able to look back on it they're able to realize how big that part of their lives was for them and how forever it will be. That's not to say tattoos always have to be amazingly meaningful, some are just fun, but he feels they would because of how that show impacted their lives. x
If they were in Van and had a ping pong tournament with the cast and crew of SPN who would make it to the gold round and come out the victor?
They would. Jared says he thinks it happened a few times and they had to hide said ping pong table from them because they would sweat their makeup off.
Jensen says they would play that game so intensely as if they were running a marathon. They would be called back on set and be out of breath, show up panting- they had very intense games. I wanna make a dirty comment so badly involving the other things they were probably might have been doing on that ping pong table but I'm gonna keep it moving.
Jared says they represented Texas pretty damn well, and they're asked if they doubled up or destroyed the other. Both say it was pretty split, pretty even. It got to a point where they were just exposing each other's weaknesses like Jared would figure out Jensen's forehand was a little weaker that day so he'd send it straight into his forehand. x
Next is a fan wanting to know what they thought of her tattoo, and if they could give her artist a shoutout. They thought it was really awesome and the artist did a great job. x
If they go to a diner how likely is it that they would actually order a salad and a cheeseburger?
Jared says at a dinner he's kind of greasy spoon type of guy so like a burger or something. That's at a diner, but he probably orders salads more than burgers.
Jensen would probably go burger or burrito if they have it. And Jared says that's cause it's probably 2am, probably on the way home. He knows hubby so well 🥰
Jensen comments there's a dinner close to where he lives that they go to sometimes, and he's a creature of habit so they have this big massive burrito that he has no business eating all of but he does.
He mentions it has hot sauce so the fan asks if they like spicy food, they do, and Jensen says he likes jalapeños on his pizza all the time. They also mention Hot Ones and how they'd like to do it. x

Clambake Review
Tumblr media
This is often considered to be the worst Elvis film ever made. Even Elvis himself allegedly hated making the film. However, it's most likely because of the fact that Elvis suffered from that infamous concussion just before filming started. A lot of fans who watched this film say that you can see Elvis is ailing. Does his acting suffer because of it or just fan projection? Let's find out.
Tumblr media
We immediately start off with the titular song "Clambake". For a movie that takes place in Miami, you wouldn't associate the city with clambake. Or oil rigs. But we don't live in this movie's reality because both of those things exist in Miami apparently. While it is true that Native Americans in Florida developed a technique referred to as a "clambake", a traditional clambake is predominantly held on the Northern East coast. They could've just as easily reused New Orleans if they wanted to include both of those elements.
This is easily one of the worst outfits Elvis ever worn. Scott would never wear this. Based on his character he'd want to be as far away from it as possible. It makes more sense for Tom Wilson to buy this when they switch identities. I know he has to wear something at the beginning to show that he's rich, but I would've used a different outfit.
Tumblr media
Charlie Hodge cameos at the barber and gets a line. Imagine my surprise to see that we have an actual character arc that's setup. We understand who Scott is and why he's here in Miami. He's the son of an oil tycoon and wants to make a name for himself. He had a fiancee but he left her when it was clear she only cared for his money. We now have a clear reason to support his identity swap.
I don't hate this Prince and the Pauper type of plot, I just don't like how it's executed. Heyward Oil is everywhere somehow and yet no one recognizes Scott just by the face alone? Sure he's not the head of the company but they recognize his name so they had to have seen him at least once. Maybe I'm missing something, but I think this would've been better if Tom Wilson was played by an actor that looked more like Elvis. Impossible I know, but if Elvis had body doubles in movies, I think it could've been done.
Tumblr media
"Who Needs Money" is a terrible duet. Elvis' vocals of course are fine but Tom Wilson's dubbed in vocals just doesn't work. The film doesn't grind to a halt because of this duet, but it's still not a rememberable song. I get that we needed a duet to show that Scott and Tom are both doing this for their own personal gain, but Tom Wilson needed different vocals for this song to be just average. It's also made abundantly clear that Elvis isn't in Miami to film this with the overuse of rear screen projections.
When we get to the hotel, the scene where Jamison is talking with the women is so bizarre. Some of the women's dialogue sounded either effected (meaning they purposely put on a type of voice that suggests bad acting or bad direction) or were dubbed in. It just didn't sound like they were recorded the same way Jamison's voice was recorded. The water-skiing scene also has so much dead air that we're watching Elvis' and Shelly's doubles ski at a far angle shot with no audio outside of the boat's motor. It lasted too long and could've been redone as it just wasn't engaging.
Tumblr media
Given that Elvis wasn't actually in Florida, at least this scene has a real background. The lighting naturally matches the time of day it's supposed to be in and they all look like they belong there. I really like Elvis' outfit though as you can at least justify long sleeve shirts with "it's night time so it's going to be cooler".
"A House That Has Everything" is fine. It allows for Scott to seemingly bond with Dianne over being poor. As much as I love Scott's part of this relationship, I just don't understand why he's in love with Dianne. She basically admits to being a gold digger, which Scott wanted to get away from. I understand the point of the movie is that she falls in love with Scott for who he is, but Scott being interested after she admits to being the one thing he wanted to avoid just doesn't make sense to me.
Tumblr media
I do appreciate that the movie wants us to dislike Jamison by making him act like a pig for ignoring Dianne's pleas to go away. I also appreciate that this movie didn't go down the path of most Elvis films and have Scott try to fight him ultimately getting him in trouble. Instead we get shown that Scott disapproves of Jamison's actions, but also acknowledges that Dianne's a grown woman who can take care of herself.
For once we have a mid 60s Elvis film that has him have the emotional maturity to know when to pick his battles. I also admit that as much as I don't like his romantic interests in Dianne, I really enjoy seeing him wanting to respect her choices and help her. He's willing to just be a companion and doesn't let any negative feelings for Jamison interfere. A cliched love triangle would've had Scott try to sabotage Jamison to make him look bad in front of Dianne, or Scott try to convince Dianne that Jamison is no good only for her to ignore him. He doesn't do any of that and instead just let's the chips fall where they lie.
Tumblr media
This song was easily the worst scene in the entire film. "Confidence" is embarrassingly over 5 minutes long. The editing is just bizarre with a shot that is completely upside down and a clip of the US Calvary. It's so long that there was a stretch of time that Scott isn't even singing. We're just following him and Tom Wilson play with children. Even Red West, cameoing as the ice cream gets involved in playing with the kids for literally no reason. I kid you not, it was so bad that my besties who saw the film with me all had a mini breakdown at how awful and long it was.
I can see why fans say you can see Elvis is struggling in this film. Watching this scene is like watching a man mentally regress to a child's age right before your eyes. What makes it worse is that this scene has absolutely no impact on the plot. Him singing with the kids doesn't make Dianne see Scott in a new light the way, nor do any of the kids help Scott with his boat in anyway. Outside of a throwaway line about having confidence, nothing from this scene was ever mentioned again. This scene's only purpose is to provide filler to pad out the run time.
Tumblr media
A ride up of over 2 inches or so should never happen with clothes. That's a sign of how cheap this film was. They couldn't even bother to give Elvis a turtleneck sweater that properly fits. This whole scene is just cringy mid 60s beach party aesthetics. "Clambake" as a song is bad in that I literally couldn't understand a single word of the beginning.
The dancing in this scene isn't good and the colors in the scene hurt my eyes. The only reason why I say this song is better than "Confidence" is that there's an actual reason for this song to exist. Despite being geographically inaccurate, a clambake event was mentioned earlier in the film. Scott would want to be there because he knows Dianne would be there and just in general wanted to have fun.
Tumblr media
I like this montage of Scott developing the goop. The whole concept of Scott wanting to make his own product is brilliant. He wants to prove that his idea can work even if his dad didn't. It adds another dimension to his character without having to include his dad. He's a genuinely intelligent man who isn't depicted as a pathetic dork or an absolute kill joy.
This gives us a rare showing of Elvis playing a character that doesn't just rizz up girls, or fights people. He also isn't a bumbling, misfortunate character that is passive to the events around him. Here, Scott's actively choosing to do this. He's making the best use of his privilege and education to not only help out a struggling boat owner, but also create a product that shows that he's more than just his dad's money.
Tumblr media
This dynamic only makes me think that Scott is too good for Dianne. He isn't just being a decent human being and therefore deserves to be with her by default. He's actively helping a woman he barely knows get with another man by giving her advice. The fact that she's still interested in Jamison after he refused to respect her boundaries indicates that she literally only cares about his money. I know that's the point of her character arc, but watching this only makes me think that Scott deserved better.
"You Don't Know Me" only solidifies that opinion. The entire song is literally Scott lamenting that Dianne doesn't know who he is. While part of it is on him for purposely hiding his true identity, Dianne basically uses him as a tool to get Jamison to notice her. She doesn't really take the time to get to know Scott on even a friendly basis. That one night on the beach just isn't enough to say that she knows enough about Scott to even be his friend. You really feel bad for Scott because he's in a one-sided relationship with someone who doesn't seem interested in him outside of what he could do for her.
Tumblr media
It's little moments like this that make me appreciate Scott as a character. He's so dedicated to making this product work that he works through the night and falls asleep at his work station. He isn't even doing it to impress Dianne either. He's had this idea before he even met her. He genuinely wants to help Mr. Burton and prove that his product can work.
"Hey, Hey, Hey" is a terrible song. It's similar to "Clambake" in that it has bad dancing and similar to "Confidence" in that it just comes completely out of nowhere. It also just doesn't work with Scott's character. He's only shown interest in Dianne so even though he's not committed to her, it doesn't make sense for him to give every woman a kiss. I get that it's meant to be a montage of Scott getting help to finish the boat, but the song just feels unnecessary. Each woman's reaction to his kiss is obviously dubbed in as the actress' reaction doesn't match the noise she makes. You could just as easily convey that in a way that's similar to when Scott recreated his goop.
Tumblr media
I was absolutely shocked at how good this dynamic was. Mr. Heyward had a big beef with Scott for leaving the way he did. He was so upset that Scott took stuff from his company without asking him, that he had to be confronted. At first you think this is the cliche dad that just doesn't get his son wanting to be his own man or even bothered to know what Scott liked. Scott's relationship with Mr. Burton made me think that this was the case. However, Mr. Heyward ultimately isn't that cliche.
Mr. Heyward knows his son more than anyone else. When he found out that Tom Wilson was acting like a party animal who smoke and drank, he immediately knew that this wasn't Scott. For a time period where it was more common for a man to smoke and or drink, Mr. Heyward outright being confused to hear that "Scott" did this shows he knows his son. He really does care about Scott, but is just upset at the way Scott chose to handle his feelings. When given the chance to confront him about it, Mr. Heyward said his part and let Scott have his say too. Even though he still didn't fully believe in Scott's product, he still wanted to let Scott try. Ultimately a very well written tension that didn't give you the idea that these two outright hated each other.
Tumblr media
This part of the movie has the most amount of tension. There's a proper build up of the audience and Scott realizing that Jamison wasn't a good person worth Dianne's affection. Watching Jamison put the moves on her when she said no, is the nail in the coffin for the audience. For Scott, since he didn't see the same things we do, he wouldn't get upset at Jamison for that reason. He knew Jamison wasn't the best person when he forced Dianne to go out with him in exchange for her missing bra. He didn't interfere because he knew that he would've gotten in trouble because Jamison was rich and he was working as an employee.
Here he had the emotional maturity to not put up a stink when Dianne was with Jamison. He didn't even fight him after she left the room. It wasn't until Jamison essentially threatened him first, that Scott had enough and punched him. As soon as Jamison went down, he left. He had the emotional maturity to know that he put Jamison in his place. Nothing else needed to be done as there was no reason to keep punching him. Punching an unconscious man is no longer self defense and is just meaningless violence. Scott understanding that in spite of his own feelings is a refreshing thing to see in a character.
Tumblr media
"The Girl I Never Loved" is the best song in the movie. Scott's lament that he'll never be able to tell Dianne how he feels is so sad. He's so adamant about not wanting to interfere in her relationship with Jamison, that he's willing to make himself suffer. He accepts that she doesn't have feelings for him, but he also still lets himself feel hurt about it. That being said, Dianne giving up her scheme and wanting to just go home feels a little forced. Like she doesn't even want to stay because Scott was a good friend. She just wants to go because Jamison ended up not working out.
I just feel bad that Scott went through all this work only for Dianne to not seem that enthused. Mr. Heyward only wants the best for his son so if the goop works, he couldn't be any happier and supportive. Tom Wilson and his girlfriend are genuinely excited to be at the race watching him. They really want Scott to win because they know he worked so hard on the boat. Dianne just doesn't look all that emotional for him and I wonder what would've happened if Scott ended up losing. Mr. Heyward and Tom Wilson I feel would've still supported Scott. They know how hard he worked on it even if it didn't pan out as he thought. I just can't say the same for Dianne. I'm not sure if it was an acting issue or a writing issue, but I just don't feel the same passion she has for Scott that he does for her.
Tumblr media
This hurts me. When I think about the low production value of this movie, I think of this. First off no license would ever have a picture like that. If it has a picture it was to be front on not at this weird angle. Also his name's spelled wrong! If you look at the signs for his father's company it's spelled Heyward. The worst mistake though is that Elvis has blue eyes! Why do you mark Scott as having brown eyes when he clearly doesn't have them? This whole scene summarizes the lack of effort put into making this look like Miami. Florida doesn't have any mountains and if anything, Miami is actually prone to flooding and sinkholes because of the low altitude.
Regardless, I actually like how this film ended. The whole point of Scott switching identities in theory was to find someone who loved him for his personality and not just his money. Was doing that right at a stop light the best time to do that? No but in general for a mid 60s Elvis film, we didn't get a stereotypical final number to close out the film. It could've been executed better but we actually get the plot point of Dianne not knowing who Scott is wrapped up. I still don't think Dianne and Scott will work out. They don't know anything about each other and Scott kisses her once after he asks her to marry him. I'm happy for Scott that he got what he wanted, but I honestly think he still deserved better regarding his love interest. It really shows just how much of a real person this character was that you would feel something like that.
Tumblr media
This movie is so baffling. On one hand yeah, I totally agree with fans that say this is the worst one. The complete lack of attention to geographical detail and the most blatant case of run time padding make this absolutely frustrating to watch. On the other hand Scott surprisingly has one of the most complete character arcs I've seen where every choice he's made has made sense to his character. His ballads and emotional maturity were quite refreshing to see. He actually makes me care enough to say "you deserve to find someone who loves you. Dianne isn't good enough for you king".
That being said, I give this film a 5/10. There's just too many issues to say that this is a good film. However, I truly think if this script was redone and a different creative team made this movie, it might be one of Elvis' best ones. In fact, as long as you skip "Confidence" and are someone who can forgive production errors easily, I would actually recommend watching this Elvis fan or not. Scott's character arc has enough good elements to make it worth watching.

AN: Thank you @georgefairbrother for requesting this film. Also shout out to @arrolyn1114 and @xanatenshi for watching this film with me. Your input was much appreciated. I currently don't have anything planned on what to review next. If anyone wants to request an Elvis film feel free to send it in.

Alright, because Tumblr hates me answering asks now, I'm writing a Simon rec list for someone who requested one here! I've written this as a basic "getting to know Simon" list, with a mix of the most important parts in his history, and issues I consider core characterisation that paint a picture of who Wonder Man is. This means I have left out things that are dynamic specific but don't say too much on Simon specifically, for example his Ms Marvel appearances or later WCA issues with Eric. If you are interested in something like this, please let me know and I'll happily make a further reading kind of list! Additionally, as we get into 2000s I have just given basically every major thing he was ever in, as opposed to 70s through 90s, where I was more discerning. This is because in recent comics, Simon hasn't really been a major player and his opportunities for important roles have become few and far between. This means the characterisation and quality isn't quite there, but it is important bringing you up to speed for modern Simon so they have been included.
Avengers V1 #9, Avengers #151-#153, Avengers V1 Annual 6 — Simon's origin, death, and subsequent revival.
Avengers V1 #160 — Eric Williams, Simon's brother who previously antagonised the Avengers in #52, #78-#79, #102, #106-#108, comes to ask questions about Vision and Simon.
Avengers V1 #164-#166, #181, #197-#198, #203, #211 are all different arcs and issues Simon plays a prominent role in.
Marvel Premiere #55 is Simon's first solo issue.
The Vision and the Scarlet Witch V1 #3 — Simon comes to help an injured Vision. More clearly outlines the dynamic between these two and remains the gold standard for their relationship.
Wonder Man V1 #1 — Simon's first solo series. This one is weird, but is only the second time we see Simon properly alone without the Avengers to help.
West Coast Avengers V1 #1-#4 is Simon joining the WCA, where he would remain for the remainder of the 80s.
The Vision and the Scarlet Witch V2 #1, West Coast Avengers V2 #1, WCA V1 #2 V&SW V2 #2 is an arc dedicated to wrapping up Vision and Simon's relationship. Looks into Simon and Eric's history, establishes their past and Simon's fear of failure. Simon stays a part of West Coast Avengers, so you can read this for as long as you want, although I find the quality slowly goes down the longer it runs but that's just me. Simon does slowly morph into more of an asshole as this series continues, which comes to a head during the White Vision arc by Byrne.
Marvel Graphic Novel - Emperor Doom — Simon finds himself alone after Doom takes over the entire world using mind control and leads the team against him.
Marvel Comics Presents #38-#45. Simon is sexually assaulted by Enchantress in this one, so it's somewhat uncomfortable to read but shows Simon's new 80s asshole personality and contextualises it.
Wonder Man V2 — Simon's only ongoing series to date. Written by Gerard Jones, so it is understandable if you don't want to read this. Builds up a large, dynamic supporting cast for Simon and more thoroughly establishes his relationship to Hollywood and life as an actor. Lasts for 28 issues and two annuals from 1991 to 1993.
Force Works V1 #1 — Honestly you don't actually have to read this, all you have to know is Simon dies and remains dead until...
Avengers V3 #3, #11, #14, #20-#23, #51— Simon's return from the dead. You can pretty much read this series consistently from #11 because he's in it more often than not but those are the issues I'd recommend reading of that series for Simon specifically. He and Wanda break up in #51.
Simon doesn't really do an awful lot aside from Wonder Man V3 by Peter David, which is bad and I genuinely don't recommend reading it because it's events mean very little and Simon's characteristion is... not it. The next thing he's in that's major is the Revengers arc, but before we get there I'm going to give a short overview. Despite being close with Wanda, Simon wasn't really involved with the Decimation. He was there, but not a major player. Simon also wasn't majorly involved with Civil War, aside from a short mini in the C story section of Civil War: Front Line #4-#7. He also ended up joining sides with his brother as a villain in Dark Reign: Lethal Legion, which is a very edgy book but is interesting to read if you're looking for his dynamic with Eric. Despite this overall inactivity, Simon was heavily affected by these situations and the build-up radicalised him, helped along by his ionic form starting to break up and become unstable.
The Revenger arc carries from Avengers V4 #1-#2, #7, New Avengers V2 Annual 1, Avengers V4 Annual 1, and Avengers V4 #31-#34 where he sort of backtracks on everything he did up to that point. There's some cute moments with Janet though.
A+X #12 is a cute team-up between Simon and Hank.
Simon's next big role is in Uncanny Avengers V1. These issues are #7, #9-#12, #21 & #23. Read these if you want, but Remender's characterisation for both Simon and Wanda is... not my preferred, and he gets them back together, so you have to see a lot of them. The main thing you have to know is that Rogue absorbs Simon in #21, and he remains bouncing around in her brain until Uncanny Avengers V3 #22-#23. This is also where Simon's pacifism is established, but to Remender that means just quoting Ghandi with very little introspection of who Simon is as a person.
That's the last of Simon's major appearances! The only other things left is Uncanny Avengers V3 #28, and the War of the Realms: Journey into Mystery tie-in which is super cute and fun to read.
So there you are anon! This is essentially all of Simon's major appearances with some fun comics that tell you more about him thrown in. As I said, some stuff has been omitted because unless you're interested in specific dynamics, it doesn't really say an awful lot, but I hope this helps and I really hope you enjoy reading!

Red, White & Royal Blue recs, all Alex/Henry. I've been doing nothing but read rwrb fic all week. I'm obsessed with the damn movie. All recs are using book canon as the starting point. All fics are 50k+ and explicit.
If you have any recs, please share!

After being discovered on Instagram as a teenager, Alex Diaz is thriving as a social media influencer and model who just landed a high profile, high fashion contract with Calvin Klein. Alex can get any girl he wants, and he’s loving it. Meanwhile, British poet Henry Fox has just arrived in L.A. to kick off a North American tour promoting his new, steamy book of gay erotic poetry, and he’s attracting a lot of attention.
Bad blood is immediately sparked between them when Henry blows Alex off at their first meeting. Several tabloid rumors and an Instagram tantrum later, Alex and Henry are reluctantly thrust together to make nice, resulting in a grudging friendship and a magnetism between them that Alex can't explain. Why is Henry's poetry making Alex feel like this? And just what is it about Henry Fox that gets to him so much?

Alex Claremont-Diaz has it all. His mom won the election, he’s got the perfect boyfriend. He gets to love Henry out loud. Everything is great. Perfect.

Fresh out of law school and fresh out of a relationship, what Alex Claremont-Diaz needs is a goddamn vacation. He plans to spend his summer on a small island off the coast of Wales, three months of peace and relaxation and figuring out what the hell he actually wants to do with his life. But all that is thrown out the window when he runs into his ex-fling, Henry Fox, who just so happens to be running the hotel he's staying in for the next three months.
Four years prior, Henry Fox meets the most beautiful boy he's ever seen at an NYU party: Alex Claremont-Diaz. Henry soon finds himself whisked away to Texas with Alex, a summer full of poetry and skinny dipping and stolen kisses, and everything is perfect. Almost too perfect for a summer fling. Yet Henry can't stop himself from falling in love with Alex, falling for the lake house and everything Alex loves, even when he knows it's too good to last.
Two summers, two places of falling in love, one filled with memories of the last. It leaves Alex and Henry wondering: is this summer truly going to be their last one together?
With so much of my heart (that none is left to protest) by @kiwiana-writes (WIP 14/17, 56k, explicit)
Work in progress, AU, getting together
love the structure and Rafael Luna's role in this, hits a lot of the emotional beats of the book (without the outing)
Alex is a former child star struggling to make the transition into being seen as a serious actor. He jumps at an opportunity to perform on stage in the UK, seeing it as a way to break free from the typecasting and show what he can really do. But he wasn’t prepared to star alongside someone he hates.
//
Henry is a recent theatre graduate who accepts an amazing role in a queer reimagining of Much Ado About Nothing. And then it turns out his co-star is none other than the man he’s been hopelessly pining after for years—even though Henry made a terrible first impression when they met.

It’s… well, it’s practically Shakespearean.

Happy Birthday Scottish actor, Robin Laing, born on February 16th 1976 in Dundee.
Robin Laing began his acting journey over thirty years ago in Poorboy's spiritual home of Arbroath when he joined the Angus Children's Theatre. Over time he moved down the coast to Carnoustie, then Dundee and finally Fife, all the while learning his trade. After a summer as a waiter in Kenmore, a chance meeting in the Dundee Rep bar led to his first theatre role as Renton in Trainspotting.
Since then he has been employed both nationally and internationally in theatre, television, film and radio. In that time he has worked with some of his heroes, none of whom have disappointed, and has played some wonderful characters.
Arguably his most famous role to date is playing Babe Heffron In the mini series Band of Brothers, although us Scots would argue playing D.I Donald in River City for five year tops that! misc. tag game
thank you for tagging me @blood-mocha-latte :)
a band you don’t like that many others do:
definitely Ocean Alley (i don't like their music and their most recent scandal was...interesting. also a guy i used to like but who ended up being a racist LOVED them so i have viscerally negative reactions whenever their stuff plays)
a childhood memory that you remember vividly:
i have a terrible memory, but the thing i remember best is taking our dog around the garden so he could get used to it when we first moved in, and he dug up 23 bones which the previous owners dog had buried around the place.
least favorite animal and why:
CRABS, I FUCKING HATE THEM
hot fandom take:
none, i just see bob stuff and i generally like it. although i do dislike the (not very common) infantilization of the actors or the version of the real life men they're portraying. it's just not something i personally agree with but it's not that big a deal
do you were any jewelry, if so, what’s your favorite piece:
i love rings and necklaces, but my favourite piece is my great-great grandmother's engagement ring which i inherited through my great grandmother. its gold and engraved with cool designs and a ruby and some diamonds.
a movie others liked but you didn’t:
the greatest showman. i detest that movie so much and im possibly a little dramatic about it.
three things you love about yourself:
i like my taste in wine
i really like my hair right now (just got it cut)
i like that i have such an active and extensive imagination
a place you hope to visit in the future and why:
ireland :) my family has a lot of connections to it
an actor that gets on your nerves and why:
jared leto <3
things you’re excited for in the nearby future?:
joining the tramping club at my uni this year (in nz we use the word tramping for hiking im not that strange i promise)
least favorite ship in a fandom you’re in:
legolas/gimli, i just think their story is cooler if its them working through several millennia of racial hate and enmity to become best friends to the point where they want to spend the rest of their lives together. the romance angle just overshadows that for me with them.
what’s the most toxic fandom you’ve been in?:
okay this is quite niche but its funny to me, the girlfailure community on instagram. like those people who make semi-ironic accounts posting about unhinged esoteric books or ideas, astrology, societal/cultural expectations, and religious interpretation of thoughts. its a load of bullshit but its so fucking funny to read and its mostly sarcastic (i think) so i don't feel bad for enjoying it.
list three things you find beautiful about life:
my mother, especially learning more about her and how she interprets life. i've realised recently that we're extremely similar despite having wildly different upbringings. she's also the best person i know.
new zealand :). nz is very isolated with a diverse range of biomes, there is such a large amount of untouched land that you could drive from the southern alps through farmland and native bush to the coast in about 3 hours.
cooking while listening to music!! i love it.
any dreams for the future?
completing my law and arts degrees and going on to do a masters in the uk somewhere.
how are you really feeling today?
extremely tired lol, i've got a doctors appointment tomorrow because it's been going on for several weeks.
tagging (no pressure):
anyone who wants to do it! i forgot i had this tab open so i think everyone's done it. if not, feel free to say i tagged you or something :).

Chapter 8: The Goddess at Natural Bridge
Chapter Warnings: Explicitly mature content, 18+ only, dominant female character, cunnilingus, unprotected PIV (please play safely!)
Series Masterlist
Series Summary:
You are neighbors with Austin Butler on the Gold Coast of Australia just prior to shooting Elvis. You become just friends because he is taken. However, after he is single again, you both find out just how attracted you are to one another and things get unrelentingly hot.
SERIES WARNING: Explicitly mature content, 18+ only,  here there be lemons.
Author's Notes: I started writing this while remodeling my kitchen, so that informed the slightly quirky narrative. It starts slow, but once it heats up, it is on fire. I have tried to pull facts from RL as much as I could, but obviously there are some assumptions and flat out dreamy wishes  involved here.
Chapter 8: The Goddess at Natural Bridge
After a quick rinse off and a delicious breakfast of homemade waffles, you talk about what to do next.
“Let’s go for a drive and a picnic!!” you say, “I have a car in the garage downstairs."
“Are you ok with driving on the wrong side?” he asks.
“Oh yeah, switching is not a problem for me,” you wink, you aren't sure if he caught your reference.
“I am down if I can get out without being seen,” he says, “it’s our 3 days after all.”
You guys pack a lunch and head downstairs. You pile him under some nonsense in the back of the old Land Rover and drive out. As you stop at the entrance waiting to turn, a man with a camera runs up to your open window.
“Hey, have you met Austin Butler yet? He’s supposed to be living in this building,” the man asks.
“I do not know ooo zat ees. Leaf me alon, shoo,’’ you say in your best French accent.
“Il est en acteur,“ the man replies en francais.
“Je n’ai pas le temps pour les acteurs. S’en aller!” you say in perfect, haughty, French and wave him away. He flips you off as you drive away. After about 10 min of driving, you tell Austin the coast is clear, no one was following you.
“Was that French? ” he says, untangling himself from his cover and climbing into the front seat.
“Yeah, I speak enough to get by,” you say smiling, feeling really cool for sneaking him out and showing off your French.
"That was awesome, what did you tell him?" he asks.
"He said you were an actor and I told him I didn't have time for actors and to go away. I enjoyed the irony," you reply laughing.
“Where are we headed?” he asks.
“A place called Natural Bridge, I’ve heard it is really cool,” you inform him. You point to the radio, “you are the tune commander, let's get some driving music going!”
“ As long as yer OK wi' Elvis…” he drawls.
“I ‘spose that’ll do, hunny,” you say in your own southern accent.
You drive inland, about an hour. Most of the drive you both are just enjoying the views, the tunes, the feeling of freedom and allowing space for introversion. Your backside is a little sore, but it’s a delicious kind of sore that reminds you of squirming on Austin’s cock.
When you arrive, there are no other cars in the parking lot, which apparently is a miracle. You set off on the short walk to the waterfall. It’s all jungle and wooded. The pool of water under the cave-like waterfall looks so inviting, but the sign said ‘no swimming’ so you don’t even mention it. You guys have a lovely walk, just enjoying the nature therapy. You have always found waterfalls exhilarating, the power of water over time on something so hard as stone.
Austin brought his camera and is snapping pics of you in front of the waterfall, leaning on trees etc. He keeps giving you directions like a proper photographer, telling you to 'make sure you are thinking of something'. Clearly he loves the creative process of it. You have never modeled before, but this is just playing around, so you do your best and follow his directions. He shows you how to use it and you take a couple of him. You refuse to let him put his model face on, you want him just being him.
As you both stand at the railing in the cave and watch the water pound down through the hole it carved above, he slips in behind you, arms around your waist. One hand slipping under the waistband of your biking shorts, the tips of his long fingers gently pressing your mons.
“How’s about we find somewhere off the beaten path?” he says in your ear. Sex outside was one of the ideas he had talked about last night.
You lean back into him, one hand snaking up to the side of his head. ‘MMMmhmm, I thought you’d never ask,” you turn your head to kiss him.
He takes his hand out from your pants and grabs your hand. You start walking, scanning the path for a suitable spot. You think about the covered picnic tables, but then reject them, even though they seem to provide some cover, you could be set upon at any moment there.
You find what looks like a game trail on the far edge of the 1km walking path that branches off the main trail. After about 5 min into the jungle it ends at the stream. You decide to walk up the stream for a bit and find what looks to be the perfect spot. Overhung with bushes between a tree and water on the other side of the stream.
“C’mon!” you shout to be heard over the rushing water.
You wade across in your Chacos. Austin shakes his head, and starts to untie his hiking boots. The water is only 10 ish feet across and not too deep. The coolness on your feet is a lovely counterpoint to the jungle warmth as you make your way across, splashing just for fun.
Once across, you duck under the large bush and find a perfect little hiding spot. After checking for any sign of ants or biting insects, you open your backpack and pull out the blanket you brought, spreading it over the little pebble beach underfoot.
Austin takes his time getting across. As you toe off your hiking sandals, he ducks in just behind you, carrying his shoes, stepping gingerly on the wee rocks with his bare feet,
“This is perfect, I couldn’t see you at all once you were in here.” His hands are wrapping around your waist again, pulling you to him.
Feeling his naked skin, you realize he has already taken his shirt off. You turn around, running your hands up his bare chest, up to his face, and pull him into a deep kiss. He is kissing you back, crushing you to him. You feel wrapped in him as he hunches slightly over you in this shorter space. When he pulls back a bit, you get your hands on the button and zip of his fly and undo them. You reach down under his waistband. He groans in the back of his throat as your hand closes around him and you pull out his gorgeous cock.
“I like it when you make those noises.” you say, “Lets me know that you like what I am doing.”
“Oh, I do like it. So far I like everything you do,” he says, kissing you hard, “and everything you want me to do to you.” He pulls his shorts and underwear down and off. He lowers to his knees in front of you, kissing your belly as you pull off your top and sports bra. Your breasts in the fresh air feel amazing. His fingers are brushing across one of your nipples, sparking with the bump of each finger, while his mouth finds the other. His tongue flicks across the tip. Your fingers run through his black hair, holding his head to you as he sucks and sends sweet tendrils of pleasure that make your pussy clench. Hooking his fingers on your shorts, he peels them down.
“Oh my,” he exclaims, ”no underthings again! Damn baby, you are a dirty girl.”
Your coquettish face says ‘who me’ as you pull off your shorts.
He continues on to your other breast, he looks up at you with those stunning blue eyes and smiles with your breast in his mouth.
All of a sudden, it hits you. How the fuck did you get here? In the rainforest, with your own personal dark Adonis worshiping at your feet as though you were Aphrodite Herself. Indeed you do feel like a goddess standing there unashamedly naked, in the wild with him kneeling before you, his long hard cock ready to pleasure you. The thought makes you bold. If You are a goddess, then he has to do as You wish. You take a deep breath, pulling energy up from the earth on the inhale and down from above on the exhale.
You reach down and grasp his chin pulling him away from Your tit. Looking at him with power and lust in Your eyes. “I am your Goddess, am I not.”
He nods slowly. You had talked a little about power plays last night, so he is going with it, if hesitant.
“You say, ‘Yes My Lady’”, still holding his chin.
“Yes My Lady,” he jumps into the part, now that he knows his line, with a look of utter devotion.
“Mmm,” You lean down and say in his ear, “ I love that your cock,” You reach down and cup him,“ is ready for Me and I plan on riding you until I cum all over it.”
He bounces a bit in Your hand as he clenches.
”If you are good, I will let you cum too,” You give his balls a little pat, then straighten up.
“I want you to use that delicious tongue to make sure I am good and wet." Legs spread, Your hips thrust forward. He sits back on his heels to get his face low enough.
“Yes, My Lady” he says with a smile as he presses his face to Your nook. He starts out lapping slowly at Your bare lips with a flat tongue.
As he reaches up his hands to help, You say: “No hands, I want only your mouth on me. And don’t think about touching yourself either, that is for Me to play with.”
“Yes My Lady” He says lips against Your peach, and he puts his hands behind his back.
Pressing his face to You, his tongue dips between Your lips then strokes up and out, grazing Your clit on the way. He goes in again, tongue going a little deeper this time, flicking back and forth at Your entrance then licking up.
“Mm, that’s good. Do it again, deeper and longer, and look at me.” You reach above with one hand to hold on to a branch steadying Yourself.
“Yef Ma ladah” He mumbles as he dives into Your muff, wiggling his head back and forth to get as deep as he can.
His nose pressed against the little patch of hair You keep, tongue curling along Your lips and thrusting as far as he can into Your slit. The sight of this astoundingly gorgeous man on his knees; head tilted back; praying at the oldest altar known to humankind; never taking his eyes off Yours; is breathtaking. If You weren’t being a Goddess right now, You would be a puddle at his feet. You put one hand on his head, holding it still as You crush Your pelvis into his face for a heartbeat. He flicks his tongue onto Your clit as You pull his face away. A string of wetness bridges from his mouth to Your cunt. His chin is dripping.
You didn’t think he could get hotter. You were wrong.
“Lie back” You say, stepping to the side.
As he complies he says, “Please My Lady, may I have more of Your sweet nectar on my tongue?”
In any other context it would be ridiculously corny, but here, in this unexpected scene, it somehow works. You were trying to decide whether to ride his face or his cock next anyway.
“Awww, such a good devotee, always wanting to please Me.”
You stand over his chest and holding on to his hands for support, lower down, knees on either side of his head. He cranes his head up as You lower down, eagerly sucking and licking Your clit and alternating with dipping his tongue into You as far as he can.
Goddess it feels good. You start feeling the seeds of an orgasm sprout under your nub.
"mmmm yeeeeessss. That's it pet.," You lift up and sit back, giving him breathing room.
Panting just a little, he looks up at You through heavily lidded eyes, deep in lust. You casually reach behind and start toying with hard cock. He groans at Your touch.
"That was excellent, pet. I was quite close to drenching your face. Do you want that? Can you take more?" You ask.
His only answer is to reach his face towards Your pussy, tongue out and flicking.
"Ah, Ah," You tighten Your grip on his dick. "What do we say?"
"Yes, my Lady Goddess." his tone is begging for more.
"Mmm, that is better," as you settle back down on his face, his mouth devouring You. You can’t help but start rocking back and forth across his tongue and mouth, trying not to grind too hard into his beautiful face. You start pinching Your nipples and moaning. He doubles his efforts and manages to catch Your clit and sucks hard. Suddenly the dam breaks and You have to shove Your hand into your mouth to keep from screaming into the jungle. Your juices flow onto his face and he laps greedily at your cunt with little growls of pleasure.
Pulling back, Austin’s messy face is smiling up at You. ‘Thank you My Lady.”
You move back along his body, taking his wet face in Your hands.
“My pussy juices gracing your face is the only thing that could make you look even better than you do already, my pet,” You croon to him before you lean down and kiss him hard, tasting yourself on his tongue.
"Now, touch me,” You order.
"Yes My Lady" His bottom lip brushing yours as he says the words of acquiescence.
His hands eagerly stroke up Your legs and hips and back with his fingertips. He runs his hands over Your ass, reminding You of the soreness there and how this morning your roles were opposite. You take his lower lip between Your teeth as part of Your kiss. A low growl escapes Your throat. You grab his shaft, rubbing the tip of him around the entrance of Your pussy to get it good and wet.
“I’m going to take you inside of Me now,” You say against his ear, as a little moan escapes him, “I want to hear in that luscious voice of yours how much you appreciate and love getting to be that close to your Goddess, Understand?”
“Yes My lady,” he says with a nod.
You start to slide down, on hands and knees over him, eyes closed, glorying in the feel of him inside You, especially just after a clit orgasm.
“Oh. My, Lady,” he gasps with each breath, in Your ear. “You. Feel. So. Exquisite. Wrapped a-a-a round me.”
You smile and start to move along his length, up and down.
“Being inside of You is heaven, My Lady.”
You start to move faster, up and down.
“Tasting you still on my tongue is my reverie" his deep voice in Your ear making You hotter.
You are slamming up and down on him, grinding Your clit onto his pubis as You fill Yourself with him.
“I love it when you use me. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” he moans, head thrown back.
It feels so good, but it’s not quite enough.
“I need you to thrust into me dear one, I need you hard and deep now,” You say in his ear. You sit up hovering a bit above him to give him room to fuck You, and so You can rub Your clit.
“Yes, My lady” he moans as he starts to drive into You.
You place his hands on Your tits, “Pinch My nipples," he obeys.
”You feel so good, My Goddess.” He says, tilting his head so he can watch himself slide in and out of You.
You feel transcendent with him beneath You, plunging into You, naked in the forest. The wild surrounding you both. As You rub Your clit with Your fingertips, You couldn't stop Yourself pitching over the edge into that incomparable oblivion if You tried. You moan out a string of ‘yesses’ and ‘fucks’ as You clench around him, full body twitching on top of him.
"Stop" You command, catching Your breath. He is trying to stop thrusting, but can’t quite. His hands are gripping Your hips, holding on for dear life.
“May I, My Lady?” he groans, eyes shut, through clenched teeth.
For a quick second, You think about telling him no, but You aren't that cruel of a Goddess.
“Yes,” You say breathlessly leaning over him, “fuck My pussy until your cum drips from it.”
Permission given, begins thrusting harder and faster than before. Your eyes and mouth gasp open as You feel him hitting all Your spots again. You are so sensitive still, You don’t even need to touch Your clit to start feeling Yourself rise again. He grins at Your reaction. “Oh gods,” You moan at him, You are about to break again when You hear him through gritted teeth.
“Oh. My. Fucking. Goddess.” Thrusting with each word, cumming deep inside You.
“Don’t stop” You demand. A half dozen more thrusts and You are coming undone all over him, screaming soundlessly, jerking and bucking, grinding, hands digging into his shoulders, feeling Your juices and his cum sliding between you. You lay down on top of him, both of you twitching and panting, smiling. Intoxicated by one another.
“Oh wow, that was fucking hot Austin. I am jello. Thank you.” you breath, head on his chest. His arms are wrapped around you.
“Oh no, thank you My Lady, " using your Honorific one last time. "Damn, I’ve never been ordered around quite like that before. It was kind of freeing, not having to decide what to do next.” You can hear the lazy smile in his voice.
“Yeah, it’s kinda nice to just do as you’re told sometimes, like this morning. It wasn't too much for you?” You inquire.
“Oh no, The goddess thing was surreal, you all of a sudden just turned into this imposing figure that I wanted to please,” he says with a little awe in his voice, “it was amazing, you are amazing.”
“MMM Thank you love. If that is true, it is because I'm right here, right now, with you.” You prop your head up on his chest, he pulls you up into a sweet kiss.
"What made you decide to do that? Did you plan it?" he asks after laying his head back down and snuggling you to him.
“No, it was total spur of the moment. Us being naked out here, you kneeling in front of me, I just felt like Aphrodite being worshiped by Adonis, so I thought, why not?” you laugh.
“If worship were always like that, I’d go to church more,” Austin shakes his head.
“If you think about it, sex is the closest to our creator we can get. It is literally the physical act of creation. One could make an argument that it’s the oldest way to praise the deity,” you soapbox a little.
"I've never thought of it like that, but you can be my goddess anytime hunny," he slips into Elvis a bit, not even realizing it.
You recover together, eating the picnic you brought. He asks if he can take pictures of you naked. You agree only if you can get copies. He asks you to pose like Aphrodite recreates a few sexy memorable moments from the past hour. You even lay down at the edge of the creek for him, water flowing over your naked body.
"Where are you going to have those developed? Aren't you scared they will leak?" you ask.
"No I do it myself. I used to have a dark room in my basement. So I'll find somewhere."
When you get back to the main path, you watch to make sure no one spies you stepping out from the woods. There was no sign saying you couldn’t, but better to keep it under wraps.
Austin holds your hand for the rest of the walk, rubbing your knuckles tenderly. There are definitely more people here now. You wonder if any of them can tell how much you both are glowing.
