That Stupid Jacket
Tumblr media
|Devil I Know AU|
Catra has horrible nightmares of Adora, trapped between realities. The only way she finds peace is to press her face into Adora's jacket and lose herself in the calming familiar scent of what she's lost.

Lord Adora of the Horde (version 2) in two colours/throne styles. The first is inspired by Hordak/Shadow Weaver’s colour schemes and the second is the same colour as version 1. I have two main AU headcanons where Adora became the antagonist:
In the first version Catra stays and influences Adora to regularly give into her arrogant dork side, which she feel safe doing as she knows Catra has her back (which is the attitude I was trying to reflect in version 1).
In the second Catra leaves, so Adora becomes more closed off. She feels relaxing or goofing off would be percieved as weak and so she try to emulate Hordak (which is this version).
She’s the villain in both, but definitely happier in the version with Catra!

If you read Camp Horde for the Lord you probably remember the scene from chapter three where Adora prays over Catra in the chapel. This one.
"Catra knew that Adora was simply praying, she knew it didn’t mean anything like she wanted, but her heart didn’t want to hear that. Adora had said she loved her and when she leaned over and touched her forehead to Catra’s head, Catra felt dizzy and her arms started to shake. Then she heard Adora begin to pray low, fervent and more desperate than Catra had ever heard her pray before. She heard the words spilling from Adora’s lips, “Let this be, oh Lord God, let this be. Let this be, oh Lord God, let this be,” and Catra began to mouth the words as well as a prayer, more sincere than any she had ever said before. "
Well, I've said every location in the fic, mostly, has a real-world counterpart. I was thinking about those places and went looking for them. And I found the exact chapel I was thinking about.
Tumblr media
It's had a remodel it looks like. No fans anymore and no pews either but the stage is exactly like I remember it. The above scene from the fic takes place on the left side, on the stairs, almost to the wall. Just a peek into what drove the settings.

Friends to Lovers Tournament: Round 1, Side B, Match 26
Tumblr media Tumblr media
propaganda under the cut!
Catradora:
Submission 1:
They met as kids and grew in a very toxic environment, always protecting each other. They trained constantly and had a very abusive "mother figure", again always protecting each other and planning to Rule the Horde together (as the lesbian queens they are). Despite all of that, and probably already having feelings beyond friendship, those feelings were never disclosed. Life and values led them to different paths, the separation was pretty dramatic. Still the friendship was there, only... those ties were slowly stretched thinner as the hurt and feelings of betrayal of that friendship made Catra go deeper in her caothic rout, she was still trying to fulfill their dream. I mean, she just wanted to prove herself that she could do anything without Adora. She was basically the vindictive ex. But in the end the love was stronger. I mean Catra's confession brought Adora BACK TO LIFE. They're SO GAY.
Ps: ILYIAHSPJTOS. (Catradora fans will get it and for me that's enough to put them in the tournament)
Submission 2:
They were like bffs and then they had a falling out and were enemies for a while and then they became friends again and then they finally admitted their feelings for each other and kissed and I just asdfgjjm they're perfect I love them
Submission 3:
—Sweetet and most loveliest childhood friends in a very oppressive environment
—Shared a bed every night
—Being separated caused Catra's villain arc; only after they were truly reunited and had confessed their love were they happy
—The dance scene my lord
—So much angst as they figured out their true feelings for each other
—My personal lesbian awakening
Bumbleby:
“and they were team-mates” partners on the same monster fighting team, the first to really let their walls down with each other. Slowwww burnnn but all So worth it and they’ve KISSED now!! i love lesbians.
they are in love and i need everyone to know it.

so this post is inspired by a person who sent an ask to @my-nitpicking-self (i hope you don't mind me tagging you), who mentioned the confrontation between katara and zuko in atla, in reference to glimmer's and catra's relationship in spop. i thought it was an interesting comparison, so i'm going to expand on it.
so two very similar scenes in atla and spop: katara and zuko being stuck together in crystal catacombs and glimmer and catra being stuck together in horde prime's ship. two things to note here - zuko was beginning to heal at this point and had almost completely given up his mission of capturing aang, while catra has just finished conquering salineas and was neck-deep in villainy.
as soon as katara sees zuko, she becomes outraged. keep in mind, zuko did not kill katara's mother. but she still had a valid reason to be mad at him. she holds him accountable for everything he has done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
K: Why did they throw you in here? Oh, wait, let me guess. It's a trap. So that when Aang shows up to help me, you can finally have him in your little Fire Nation clutches!
K: You're a terrible person! You know that? Always following us! Hunting the Avatar! Trying to capture the world's last hope for peace! But what do you care? You're the Fire Lord's son. Spreading war and violence and hatred is in your blood!
Z: You don't know what you're talking about.
K: I don't? How dare you! You have no idea what this war has put me through! Me personally! The Fire Nation took my mother away from me.
here, zuko doesn't try to argue with katara until she implies that violence and aggression is an inherited thing, because he's from the fire nation. zuko accepts his mistakes but he is also aware that being a fire nation citizen or even royalty alone doesn't make you a bad person. even then, he doesn't raise his voice or lash out at her, he just calmly disagrees.
after katara mentions her mother, he apologizes and sympathizes with her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Z: I'm sorry. That's something we have in common.
K: I'm sorry I yelled at you before.
Z: It doesn't matter.
K: It's just that for so long now, whenever I would imagine the face of the enemy, it was your face.
katara also apologizes but zuko understands that it was completely in her right to blame him. and then we get to the crux of the issue. katara's mother was killed years ago but she still hasn't been able to move on from the grief.
now, of course, zuko again turns back to villainy but this was an important confrontation. and it wasn't the only one. as you all know, after zuko's official redemption, the gaang still doesn't trust him and katara is the last person to forgive him. she is still upset and disappointed by the way he betrayed her after they had begun to bond in the catacombs. and zuko has to prove his loyalty before katara could forgive him.
now let's come to glimmer and catra. catra DIRECTLY caused the death of glimmer's mother. and it was recent. glimmer had been grappling with her grief in the last season, to the point where she spirals into a small corruption arc. s4 of spop does NOT forget angella's death.
so obviously, you would expect there to be a confrontation between glimmer and catra in s5, especially since they were alone together in a confined space. but let's see what happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glimmer: You again. Why do you keep coming back here?
Catra: Just...bored, I guess.
Glimmer: No, I mean, Horde Prime told you not to talk to me. He's gonna catch you eventually. Why risk it? ...You're lonely, aren't you?
so far, no confrontation, no apology.
Catra: What do you know? You're the prisoner here. I can go where I want. So, stay here by yourself for all I care.
Glimmer: Okay, okay, you're right. It...helps having someone to talk to. Even if you're the last person I'd ever want to be stuck here with.
Catra: Trust me, Sparkles, the feeling is mutual.
and just like that, they're on better terms now. glimmer doesn't bring up angella's death, she doesn't bring up the way catra treated adora, how she and bow were kidnapped by catra, nothing. they seem more like casual rivals than enemies here. catra doesn't seem guilty in the slightest, she just has to threaten to leave and glimmer immediately makes her stay.
and not just that, they joke about adora's paranoia that was rooted in her trauma, as if it's just a fun quirk. at this point, it's clear that the writers are not even trying to make it seem like they don't favor catra over all the characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the one time glimmer somewhat confronts catra—
G: Please, Catra. Do one good thing in your life!
C: Don't talk to me like you know me! You don't know anything about me!
of course, catra shuts her down immediately. and afterwards, even when catra saves glimmer, she makes it clear that she's only doing it for adora. while on the surface, this might still come off as a good deed, it's clear from her later behaviour that catra's goal wasn't to help either adora or glimmer. my best guess is that she was practically awaiting death at that point and didn't expect to face the consequences of her actions, so she wanted to go out with one good deed, much like shadow weaver.
it's crazy how zuko, who was just an antagonist and has done very little to directly hurt the gaang, faced the consequences of his actions and got a drawn out and detailed redemption; while catra, who spent the entire series hurting the protagonists out of her own interest, gets off scot-free.
any time her past actions are brought up, they are mentioned in the vaguest terms possible i.e. “she made some mistakes” or “shs hurt people”. it's so clear that the writers were hoping that if the other characters forgot everything that catra did, the audience would do the same. and the worst part is that they're right. 90% of the fandom were willing to accept catra's redemption because no one in the show ever holds her accountable or confronts her properly.

Profiles in Villainy Redemption
Catra
A feline humanoid from Etheria, Catra was orphaned in her early childhood and taken in by the sorceress known as Shadow Weaver.  Catra became a cadet in the ranks of the Evil Horde, serving Lord Hordak in his quest to conquer the realm and put down the Princess Rebellion. Although she was greatly skilled and shrewd, Catra’s oppositional nature acted as an obstacle in her obtaining the rank of Force Captain.
Catra became close friends with her fellow cadet, Adora.  The two were inseparable and Catra harbored an unspoken love toward Adora.  As such, Catra was emotionally crushed when circumstances led to Adora’s defection from the Horde so to join the Princess Rebellion.  Appreciative of Catra’s abilities and passion, Hordak awarded her the rank of Force Captain and assigned her the task of capturing and returning Adora.
Tumblr media
Adora had unlocked the Sword of Grayskull and was transformed into She-Ra, The the Princess of Power.  Adora’s return to the Horde was a lost cause and Catra sublimated her broken heart by dedicating herself to an ambition goal.  She set in motion a series of schemes that would ultimately enable her to usurp Hordak as the ruler of the Horde.
When Hordak Prime came to Etheria, however, Catra found herself rethinking her attitudes.  She aided She-Ra in ultimately defeating Hordak Prime. Herein Catra professed her love to Adora.  Adora felt the same toward Catra and the two became a couple as Etheria entered into a new era of peace.
Tumblr media
Catra’s tale was different in the original narrative of She-Ra.  In this earlier iteration, Catra was C'yra of D'riluth the Third, a powerful shapeshifter and priestess of the Magicats. Assuming the title of ‘Catra,’ C’yra acted as a Force Captain for Hordak.  Although an often loyal lieutenant to Hordak, Catra harbored ambitions of her own and sought to conquer Etheria by becoming Queen of The Magicats.  She was thwarted in this scheme by her bitter rival, She-Ra, The Princess of Power.
Actress AJ Michalka provided the voice for Catra in She-Ra and The Princesses of Power; first appearing in the debut episode airing on July 18th, 2020.  Whereas actress  Melendy Britt voiced the villainess in the original She-Ra: Princess of Power; first appearing in the first episode, airing on September 9th, 1985.

She-Ra characters’ favorite movies!!! This one will probably be pretty controversial.
Adora: Alien. But she gets scared and has to cuddle with Catra (that’s her favorite part).
Catra: Predator. She can’t tell who she’s rooting for half the time though.
Glimmer: Captain Harlock: Space Pirate. She loves the aesthetic.
Bow: Star Wars. He’s very opinionated on the watch order.
Perfuma: Up in Smoke (never gonna let that joke go)
Mermista: Knives Out (but she’s waiting for the MerMysteries movie franchise)
Sea Hawk: The Princess Bride. He fancies himself Westley.
Scorpia: She’s a MCU fan and can’t pick her favorite of them.
Double Trouble: They hate watch Master of Disguise regularly.
Entrapta: Pacific Rim. Giant mechs! Fighting! Tech!
Hordak: Sleepless in Seattle. He loves romcoms!
Madame Razz: Primer. To her the plot is very straightforward, predictable, and linear
Shadow Weaver: Matilda. She has no idea why such wonderful and caring parents were so maligned!
Frosta: Godzilla movies. She has plans for an ice kaiju once she gets better at controlling her powers.
Micah: Star Trek: Wrath of Khan. He and Bow get into arguments about the better franchise and Glimmer has to tear them apart.
Kyle: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - He fancies himself Scott. He isn’t.
Kadroh: Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. He loves how wrong it is about the universe!
Melog: The Aristocats. ‘Nuff said.
Netossa and Spinnerella: Lord of the Rings. They watch the Extended Editions together at least once a year.
Horde Prime: Horde Prime The Movie: A Horde Prime Production by Light Of Horde Prime Studios

|Devil I know|
The call was insistent, until Despara gave in to the call and went to the whispering woods.
Catra thought this was a cruel joke, Etheria still chose Adora, even now, to be its champion. History was repeating itself and Adora would leave her again.
Despara was unimpressed with She-ra and refused to use her. She didn't need a princess, she had an army.

Lord Adora of the Horde (version 1). I love Adora as the protaganist, but she would have also made such a good villain because she really believed that the Horde were the good guys and that she’d be acting for the greater good.
