Ok good day

No but for real ever since like 5th grade, (i was around 11???) i remember finding his story after very unmonitored internet access through DA (i was and still am addicted to DA) and after reading it, it was like, wow. Okay- thats really relatable. I struggled with severe family issues with the same problem of alcohol and gambling, along with also losing a sibling. I went through severe bullying and everything else what not, not to make it about me or anything but i didn't have much of an outlet at all, i never got into anime, fashion(basic fashion), never had many friends irl. I was already 'in the fandom' but didn't know much about him til i genuinely sat down and found it on accident while searching fandom tags. (back when kastoway actually posted there still)

I would literally stalk the acc man it was BAD. i always used him to vent and as an outlet, i loved the art style and my art would occasionally be influenced by it unconsciously. I would write and roleplay a ton and eventually developed my own take and interpretation. I find tons of comfort in anti-hero like characters and this fandom has been the only thing i ever felt welcomed in. And the only thing i seem to like as i am still not into much else but horror and cosplay. I wish i was my age now (19) back when the fandom was really booming. Where the nostalgic styles were around and the 'cringey' lol ask blogs (i would've been doing one dgmw)

I would've been a big hit back then but now its just harder to be known. (not that its my main purpose i just wonder how far i would've gotten when this fandom was more alive)

Moral of story, I've always related to him, i mean the guy quite literally gave me a reason to keep going? He inspires my aesthetic, my career (story making, film and writing) honestly if it wasn't for me stumbling across him..tbh I'd probably be normal LMAO but i would've taken a different route with my art and writing if...At all? Hey Donnie, any tips on communicating when nonverbal to people who don’t know sign language?

I shan’t share all the details on here but often times in public the abundance of noice from people existing in general can cause me to shut down a little and become unable to speak, and it makes it difficult to communicate things I need or answer questions to whoever I’m with at the moment.

(Also I read the post about the runaway black holes and it was really interesting- and honestly the idea of a giant black hole just *nyooming* through outer space is amusing to me in a way I can’t understand XD)

I can only speak from my perspective & from what I've learned. I will divide this in two parts since I have different ways for different situations:

When I'm masking

When I'm not masking

When I shut down in public & I have to MASK:

Disclaimer: I am aware that masking is a privilege & not everyone is able to do so. I am, so I will include it here.

I am also aware about the fact, that masking can be very damaging (I experience the negatives), yet masking can be the tool to get you through a day without getting hurt.

Masking = actively hiding your neurodivergent traits, mostly by conforming to neurotypical standards even though you know they aren't suitable & healthy for you.

I usually try to play a different role, like an actor. My mind is like a databank, so I have many phrases from shows, movies, etcetera stored that I can use to communicate.

I know that it is not good in terms of the upcoming shutdown: the acting does take a lot of energy that I do not have & THIS definitely will eat me up later.

Also: faking a sore throat or anything that'll let me be quiet.

So far, I haven't found a great solution for that one yet.

It also depends on who I am with. If I'm with my family, they will notice because they know me. They won't pressure me to speak. Being open is the key, yet it is not always possible.

Sometimes, a person on your side who knows can accommodate you.

When I shut down & I'm UNMASKED:

Texting or writing on something

Visual communication cards (there are so many great options out there!)

Basic pointing, nodding, shaking my head

(ACC device - I have my own tech & SHELLDON)

so there were a bunch of theories after vol1 drop (we didn't call them gates then) and after vol2 they all started to get fleshed out and with the joke of "watergate" made by dustin (and vecna opening all those gates) we just kinda adopted it for different theories for season 5 or analysis about byler or season 4

scriptgate: this is the non show related one. so 8flix is a site that like gives scripts to people/public (film students use it etc) and there was a gofundme to donate to 8flix and like you would get your email signed up on the list and then the stranger things script sent you. the first one was episode 8 (vol2) basically it was supposed to come early august. like august 3rd or something i do not remember exactly but nick (8flix guy) got a lot more people on his email list than ever, and he wanted to do it one by one rather than a big release so we waited like 3 days or so (THIS TIME PERIOD IS SO ICONIC HONESTLY HILARIOUS SO MANY MUTUALS MADE.) there was like people drinking sangrias, i made a pizza, people were making crafts in the tag, it was a big sleepover. very fun, each time it got delayed it was funnier and funnier 😭. anyways we finally got the scripts (but at what cost) and they were so fuckinf depressing there was not a dry eye in the house. will said "i hate who i am" and nancy said "jonathan who?" it was terrible. and a couple days later stranger writers basically implied they were fake. like they were fake scripts. AND THEN EVERYONE TURNED ON NICK. it was a big thing but basically he was saying they weren't fake, and there's 2 big theories: that either he had very early scripts or just a bad source. anyways netflix said he could keep posting them as long as it wasn't revealing anything that wasn't already known (spoilers for season 5 i guess) (worth noting that when nick got his acc hacked on twitter "he" said shit like he was gonna name his source and 2 actors had confirmed the scripts. he was hacked so ignore this. i believe him at least)

letter gate: theory that mike has written letters to will while he was gone but never sent them, also most people believe that he kept said letter in his pocket in the custom blue shirt he wore throughout season 4

pocket gate: finn mentioned this in the hair chair before the st costume designers said this but, they made him a custom shirt (the iconic one for season 4.) few things to know! the pocket opens sideways, it looks like there could be something in it (because it never creases), the costume designers used triangle imagery on robin because of its meaning to the queer community and the pocket is a blue square with a grey triangle, and the pocket was mostly pointing towards will the entire season, will was always on mikes left! very few times was it pointing towards anyone else

breathgate: so i THINK this gate is about mike and max paralelling/lumax+byler endgame secured. so when mike saw the painting in the scripts that the stranger writers twt released it said "his breath catches" and when max was asked by lucas if she wanted to go to a movie friday it said "her breath catches." this could also be about how byler... breathed in sync when they were out in the field in the ending scene. or it could be about that very deep breath mike took when he was looking at will when they were in the van!

bald mike wheeler: i don't wanna talk about it <- traumatized 😶 KIDDING anyways so people basically edited this pic of mike in the hell fire outfit as bald and started creating a "cult" out of it and making their mutuals and friends worship bald mike. byler tag chaos obvi. my mutual rori sent like 20 images in my inbox. i was frightened.

matt duffers basement: ok so someone was pretending to be matt duffer on tumblr and made an "official" account and idk how really but people started claiming he was locking him in his basement and people started making a joke out of it and the person running the account played along too lmao. it was a sleepover in there

birthdaygate/memory gate: so this one i don't keep up with because i don't like it. i know what it's about though! so will's birthday is mar 22nd and people in the pre vol2 era thought his bday was gonna get addressed in vol2 but it wasn't so now there's a big conspiracy that it's going to have a bigger play out in s5 (like him blowing up at everyone /mike etc) but some people think it's because vecna can... steal memories. this claim is backed up by the lyric "let me steal this moment from you now" from running up that hill. someone can explain this gate better than me

babygirl gate: someone made a tweet that made it to tumblr basically saying will was rubbing his back whispering babygirl in mikes ear so he could say i love you to el/his girlfriend. which sparked people to make will's quotes to mike say babygirl instead of mike(his name.)

decedants gate: is just like twilight gate. i forgor if mike is mal and will is ben. i think that's right. yeah. it was cool!! comparing byler to their relationship!! about how mal chose to be with ben because he makes her happy!

playlistgate: mike has a very queer coded playlist, promiently "smalltown boy" by bronski beat. it's a song about running away/leaving. this could also be about finn's playlist called "drive" which could be a playlist for mike (it's known that he makes playlists for his characters.) or this could be about (tender emotional music) and how the stranger things sound track proves byler endgame! or about how spotify /st took off a bunch of peoples playlists (some songs off mike and maybe will's too i think.) im not Exactly sure what this one is about.

flickergate: !!!!!!! MY FAV!!!!! season 5 theory mike and will go to the upside down and kiss in the wheelers garage! REMEMBER HOW MIKES GARAGE LIGHT FLICKERED AS WILL LEFT? byler kiss secured! that "it was a 7. the demogorgon, it got me." WAS THEIR FIRST REAL ONSCREEN CONVERSATION! also where everything went wrong, and immense forshadowing. any 7 is a byler number. also the upside down is stuck on nov 6 (day will went missing) so they would technically kiss on that day. a lot smarter person can explain this one.

salt lamp gate: basically a pic of mike licking a salt lamp and people in the byler tag talking about licking their salt lamps . i don't know what prompted this

gridgate: so duffers posted this story boarding grid (blank) back in like end of august/september. and then updated it but it was BLURRED. they blurred it. fucking tease. so people started to unblur it and read what it says but u couldn't make out anything really. and something we thought was a drawing was a pen holder. upsetting. what the hell. they were making fun of us. anyways we were insane for that.

Short sum for newbie system designer processor steps

Here are a few beginner projects for learning the ropes of customized computation architecture design:

Pana, a '4-4-4' instruction processor derived from Intersil 6100 & GaryExplains' but for 4-bit data. Uses the sixteen (16) RISC instructions shown by GaryExplains and only four (4) of its registers (ACC, PC, LN & MQ) as per of the Intersil 6100 specification. Doing as much work onto nibbles like an MVP Intel 4004 can, great as a BCD & Nibble data converter for later designs.

Tina, a barely expanded '4-4-8' processor derived from the "Pana" design, it uses more registers by adding twelve general-use registers (A-F, U-Z letters) and operate onto a single byte of data at a time. Great for two nibbles operations, byte-wise interoperability and 8-bit word compatibility with all sorts of modern processors from the seventies-onwards.

Milan, a '6-2-24' strong hybrid 8-bit / 12-bit processor derived from the "Tina" design, operating onto three bytes or two tribbles of data at once depending of use-case, while fitting in exactly 32-bit per instruction. Aimed at computing three 8-bit units, enabling 16-bit & 24-bit compatibility as well as up to two tribble operands. A great MVP implementation step towards my next own tribble computing architecture and a competitor to the Jack educational computer as shown in the NAND2Tetris courseware book.

When I am done with such, I will be onto three tribble-oriented architectures for lower-end, middle-end and upper-end "markets". Zara being lower-end (6-bit opcode, 6-bit register & 36-bit data = 48-bit instructions), Zorua being mid-end (8-bit opcode, 8-bit register and 48-bit data = 64-bit instructions) and Zoroark being upper-end (12-bit opcode, 36-bit register and 96/144-bit data (so either eight or twelve tribble operands worth of data) = 144/192-bit instructions, aiming to emulate close enough to an open-source IBM's PowerISA clone with VLIW & hot-swap computer architecture).

By the way, I haven't forgotten about the 16^12 Utalics game consoles and overall tech market overview + history specifications, nor have I forgotten about studying + importing + tinkering around things like Microdot & Gentoo & Tilck. I simply need to keep a reminder to myself for what to do first when I shall start with the computation engineering process. Hopefully that might be interesting for you to consider as well... Farewell!

Tweaked and added some additional text & considering studying various aspects of Linux and overall copyleft / open source culture engineering scene, especially over Gentoo alternative kernels & hobby / homebrew standalone operating systems (GNU Hurd, OpenIndiana, Haiku... as well as niche ones like ZealOS, Parade, SerenityOS...) as to design a couple computation ecosystems (most derived from my constructed world which takes many hints from our real-life history) and choosing one among them to focus my implementation efforts onto as the "Nucleus" hybrid modular exo-kernel + my very own package modules collection. (Still aiming to be somewhat compatible with existing software following Unix philosophy principles too as to ease the developer learning cost in initial infrastructure compatibility & overall modularized complexity; Might also use some manifestation tips & games to enrich it with imports from said constructed world if possible)

Hello guys I'm back again after few months or so- I don't think I remember but, I have decided that I'm gonna start making youtube videos instead of tiktok videos. Well, let me explain.. So first I met someone from tiktok, he's obviously older than me and whatsoever he asked for my number. Now the dumbest thing that I dowas saying yes and gave him my phone number, we started chatting normally until he said. "Y'know I kinda wanted an online sister".for you who don't know what online sister or brother is. It's like an Rp between people. And ofc some good, some are bad.. And then I reject his offer for me to be his online little sister, he said that he understood that and we continued talking. Afterwards I made a. " All fandom gc" in whatsapp and invited him over as well as Invited my friends and one of my cousin, I won't tell her realname but for now let's call her "Anne" . So Anne and I are cousins.. And also bffs, we are very close to eachother. She lived not that far from mine. As well as I am. Alright, so at the gc. The guy from Tiktok chatted in the gc quite normal. But then started flirting with our gc members. Including the minor ones. That made me and friends also cousin uncomfortable , so me as an admin gave him a warning and told him that this gc is full of kids from 11-15.i never asked about his age but I think he's around in his 30s. Back to the problem, he then started chatting my cousin, Anne. He sent Anne some kiss emojis and hearts emojis also, that made Anne very uncomfortable so she reported this to me and told me everything. I had the screen shot and stuff but I don't think I'm going to show it. I confronted him afterwards and was furious at him. I kicked him out of the gc and told everyone if they had his contact, to block him. Turns out this person was a pedophile and a creep.. He always terror minors and kids through social media's and always asked them to give him their number. I blocked him on every social media that I have and reported his tiktok acc. And after all of this happened and finished, I tried to fresh out my mind and forget everything by opening up tiktok to watch some random vids and edits. But I was a bit shocked when I opened tiktok again because my acc got banned permanently. While instead I have never and never been post or done something that is against the rules.. So yeah, my tiktok acc got banned and that is the reason why im planning and deciding to move on to youtube.

I'm so sorry if you don't understand the story and stuff, im actually having a hard time telling this type of things to my parents or people because all they do is just complained about that and compare their stories than mine that they are the only one who had the worst thing that happened to their lives. But that's ok, I forgive them.

I have a few points to add about your ITS season 1 "date":

1. Talking about trainee days and touching upon age subject is not equivalent to them not being so "distant" now. If we see official content till year 2016 everything is alright between them (BTS run is a great example). No supposedly awkwardness. That means if we go by official content we can say 2016-2020 could be the time frame for them being distant according to the episode.

3. If you look at this timeline, even though their interaction was shown bare minimum, we can see genuine taekook interactions offcam which asserts to them being still in talking terms, still goofing around and still caring. The only thing I noticed was kookie being unable to hide his eagerness when it comes to tae that you can see scene cutting as soon as kookie approaches him (check BV season 1, 2 and 3).

2. As I could see taekook relationship, yes it was more on the goofy side but people would be blind if they can not see mutual adoration and genuine care between them. They were like magnets. So them being attached by hip to being distant in official content seems pretty suspicious to me. And if people say that friendship can be evolved and changed, yes it can but so urgently that their interactions are being minimal onscreen suddenly is hard to digest. So as far as I can understand for me the timeline becomes 2016-2020 (because that is when drought started).

3. If we look at behind the scenes and raw fan cams i think it could be pretty clear that official unpaid content is quite different from backstage and off cam interactions (BV 2 and 3 is perfect eg, a lot of edited content as soon as they two approach each other). We can say they were still goofing around still caring for each other and all the more camera concious. This does not anyway state any lack of credibility for distance as mentioned in ITS or I am telling it's all lie. They could be emotionally distant and still love each other based on their past. No, for me what's quite fascinating is why heart to heart between these two only on this subject which brings me to my next point.

4. All members cannot have an equal connection. When tea became reserved, i am sure his relationship with other members might have also changed including jimin but nothing has been addressed about this with other people. In fact we can see vmin relationship blooming because Jimin is mature? They had a deep relationship because they are 95 liners? Maybe both. That somehow implies taekook could not be close as they are of not same age or jungkook was less mature or less incompatible or maybe their relationship was only about doing fun or maybe all of these things. Who knows? My point is despite solving this at the earlier stage when things started going wrong, if i assume that to be 2016 acc to official content, they chose to have a heart to heart 4 years later. That means four years of awkwardness, pretty tensed environment even for a working relationship for a group which has their bond as their USP.

5. It is funny they chose to do it in National television. Looking at how private both of them are, especially jungkook who is so introvert it is difficult to digest he would be amenable to disclose his laundary so openly. I am sure if they were feeling so awkward they could have chosen to talk about it after ITS or maybe at night when people are not there. That means even though there could be bit of truth to distance, the scene was staged. Also, for me what's funny is after their "talk" they seem to be so chummy. Tae resting his head on kookie's shoulder, sleeping together cuddled. Really? If things were so easy to sort out wouldn't it be smarter to talk earlier before coming to a show where things would be reflecting awkward on cameras. This seems really weird to me.

6. Also, v said kookie approached him to have drinks but did not mention he wanted to have a heart to heart. So assuming the offer to drink was to enquire about tae's issues. I am sure they , all seven of them, might have talked about it as group at some point because personal problems of members can affect BTS as a group as well as bighit. I don't think the reason tae gave is new to kookie, that he might have not known about it. And talking in private is not ok but on tv is. I seriously do not understand.

I definitely agree with you.  There is a whole lot about the ITS1 conversation that doesn’t hold up under any kind of scrutiny or critical thinking.  You make a good point about how all over the places their interactions are in official content.  One moment they’re having a heart-to-heart about all of the issues they’ve supposedly had in their friendship, the next they’re not only cuddling but sleeping next to each other for two hours.

I feel what you said about BV4 so hard too.  I haven’t talked much about Bon Voyage on this blog, but one thing I found so interesting about it was how little shipping fodder it has, kind of across the board.  Like, with the way Jikookers talk about every season of BV, I was expecting to be inundated with Jikook interactions when I watched it, but it’s really not like that at all!  If I’d only watched the four seasons of BV and no other content at all, I would come away being absolutely convinced that there was nothing to any BTS shipping at all.  In particular, I also noticed how it seemed like Taehyung and Jungkook were trying to basically avoid each other, barely interacting in BV4.  Honestly, I noticed that in other seasons too, but to a lesser extent than in BV4.

Anyway, to address your specific thoughts about ITS, your ideas about the implied timeline make sense, but then, as you say, if they really are talking about the entire period from 2016-2020, the thought that they would address this publicly on television makes even less sense than it already does.  No matter how you slice it, putting it on TV makes it for the audience, not the people involved.

Compare the ITS conversation to, for example, the recent Festa dinner.  That was about BTS addressing what’s been going on with them lately and their plans for the future with ARMY, so that they could openly and honestly share their feelings in as personal a way as possible.  The conversation between Tae and JK in ITS is stunted and strange in comparison, full of vague language and intentional obstructions.  It’s crafted to present a certain idea, but there’s none of that open honesty from them to us, except presumably in Jungkook’s interview, which as I pointed out in my close reading is full of qualifying words which distance Jungkook from what he’s saying and obscure the real meaning.

So yes, I agree with everything you’re saying.  None of it really seems to add up.  It doesn’t logically make sense to address the kinds of issues they’re supposedly processing in the way that they do it, and those issues themselves don’t hold up under much, if any, scrutiny anyway.

2:51 | oh wow the "fixing art" thing. i dont think this is a thing anymore but it definitely was a big thing back in 2019! the thing is im quite neutral on it because a lot of artists dont like their work being edited but on the other hand if you dont like when people put the correct skintones on your art then maybe you should colour it right the first time

i will say though if you see cool art of like dark choco or espresso and its whitewashed and u wanna edit it so its not and u keep it to yourself then idc thats fine to me. the grey area is when it comes to characters like moonlight or alchemist, who's skintone is quite difficult to pull off in some artstyles. a lot of the examples in the video use people like cherry blossom or cotton candy who don't quite fit in the same category but are usually targets of this anyway

a very simple fix is to just use a different colour but to not make them significantly lighter from how they look in canon, which alot of the examples you showed don't do. they all look pale as shit compared to what they actually look like ingame and thats why people complained about them

devsisters really love showcasing whitewashed art of their characters (they used to do it on their forums rarely but thats now gone) and recently they've been quite excited to dabble in the whitewashing themselves (keep in mind the others except from twizzly gummy don't really count as whitewashing but they're all significantly lighter than their regular appearance). its like a hobby or sumn. everytime they host a fanart contest i brace for god damn impact. and this has been a thing since FOREVER

speaking of race and ethnicity, lilacs costume (and redesign in general) is just... bad but i dont think they were even introduced at the time of this video. milk and yam WERE though and its extremely baffling to me how this went through an entire team/company and got greenlit. its insane how shit they are (if it was just yam on his own i wouldn't hate him as much, i still wouldn't like him tbh, but they decided to pair him up with a white saviour). would i call them racist though? ...idk? they've been moving funny recently cant lie

whitewashing is obvious why so i'll move on. some characters can be seen as lesbian coded (white choco and rose for having majority girl fans, sea fairy in general) and there are a few characters that explicitly aren't referred to by any pronouns (dark choco before the guild adventures, peppermint, ect.) which u dont see everyday in games. so yeah.. people care about these things because they like representation. who would've thought?

now im gonna be fucking real. the arguments over cookies ages were always annoying - the reason why the fandom has arguments about ages so much is because devsis REFUSES to tell us canon ages. think about it, majority of the "canonially confirmed" children in the game are from a child event that happened in LINE. thats a completely different company running the game. because of how character-heavy the game is, ships are a very big part of the fandom. i sincerely doubt theres anyone in the fandom who doesnt like any ship and at the time rarepairs were rly common. so when you've got a fandom who really likes to ship and developers that dont ever mention ages then you get a fucking mess. i dont know what sorbet shark or roll cakes age is and its pointless to even debate it because id rather just have the devs confirm it themselves (not like they ever will). and even for the one singular time they did specify that one of the characters was a child, they still showcased fanart of said kid being shipped with an adult anyway

but that concludes the video and thus this response! i have wasted so much time on this i honestly could've showed you them ranting about how "cookies dont have skin colours" in the video or the part in the marina video where they complain about how people "think whitewashing is bad but make non-black characters black" and moved on but what else would i do on a sunday night?

This story is once again, not edited. I recently made a big mistake and is really pissed off... I am very disappointed in myself and I am not willing to forgive myself for making such big mistake twice... :/ I hate myself as a human living in modern society.

Xiao and I are 'good' friends who play Genshin Impact together, we often coop so that we will be able to accompany each other while playing.

I always pretend that I am not good at playing it as Xiao would always take the initiative to help me out, every time he asks me whether I need help is simply too cute to ignore!

But there was this one incident that made him really cute... And that was when he lent Zhongli his account to try out. Xiao always trust and worship Zhongli, I can understand why after knowing him when Xiao got us to meet up.

I am kind of sad that Xiao's attention is split between me and Zhongli though... But he is really endearing whenever he follows Zhongli around like a little tail and tries to stop Childe from appearing... I can imagine a small chibi sized Xiao trying to catch up with Zhongli with his short legs... That scene... Ugh..!

I’ve gotten a couple of asks about this lately, and i’m so happy to know there are more latinos finding their way to the practice, tumblr’s brujeria tag often gives the impression that theres so little of us out there reclaiming our practices but getting asks like these brings me a lot of faith that thats not true :) first and foremost:

GETTING INTO BRUJERIA IS HARD.

it really is. baby brujos like us know that better than anyone- getting started, is often the hardest part of doing anything, and its no different with brujeria. it can feel so overwhelming and feeling lost is natural. from my experience, although i am still a newbie ive been able to find a lot of information out there, here are the best places to find info, sorted by priority:

FAMILY! a little self explanatory, but brujeria at its best is truly is an inherited, familial practice. If you can, before delving into internet resources, definitely connect w your family if you’re able to and ask them for guidance and about their experiences!

Your family is always the best resource over anything you can find online; theres so much misinformation out there or information not relevant to your region and if someone in your family already has established practices, always trust them first

 Do some thinking back to all your cultural traditions, quirks, stories, and superstitions that you’ve  learned from your family across time and never thought too much about- and rediscover them under a new light

KEEP IN MIND: brujeria is NOT a singular , concrete practice w concrete rules in itself, the term blankets a lot of traditions across latam, the caribbean, mexico, but imo its always best to stick with brujeria related to your heritage and where your connection is.

this can be hard for people (like me!) with huge family taboos toward brujeria that make it unsafe to ask around about, and/or limitations in family connections (also like me unfortunately). I personally can really only get the tidbits and stories that my family accidentally slips out when I occasionally see them. i try to write them down as much as possible, but the info i can get is limited... and thats where the following comes in.

ONLINE COMMUNITIES. i.e, youtube, tumblr, instagram brujx communities. notice I haven’t said “internet” in general- the reason why i trust community based social media more than random individual websites you find on google is because, in the case of brujeria and honestly any non-european craft, you’re often gonna find a LOT of white people writing blogs, books, etc about their “spiritual experiences” in latam countries and wrongly/incorrectly taking ATR or indigenous traditions (like with smudging). again, brujería is different depending on where your family is from in latam, and if you have an established connection to indigenous and/or black roots, so it’s useful to use keywords relating to that when searching (like if ur black, you can look into ATRs(african traditional religions) which tend to mix deeply with brujeria, if ur indigenous, finding other people from your tribe is great, and if youre not pursuing your already learned traditions you can think about connecting to them more deeply(altho indigenous traditions are their own thing, sometimes they do mix with brujeria too), and apart from familial roots, if ur catholic/christian and/or want to explore it, saint work/catholic brujeria might be a good fit for you!)

y’know i love memes as much as anyone else on this hellsite and the internet in general. but one meme i can’t stand now, as well as a joke used by older comedians about ~kids today!!!! am i right???~ that i can’t stand now, is the one that’s like “all 10 year olds want today is an iphone or an ipad or a macbook for their birthday or christmas! all i got for my 10th birthday/christmas as a kid was a tennis racquet and a tether ball that hit me in the face! kids are so spoilt today! you better get an i-job to i-pay for your spoilt mac-ass!”

because like.... do you not understand that in today’s increasingly over-connected world, ipads and macbooks or other tablets/laptops are pretty much required school equipment now, if your 10yo kid’s primary/elementary etc school has a ~bring your own device~ policy for kids in years 4-6??? like obviously yes, some schools will provide students with laptop/tablet trolleys and stuff.... or also the government might have a program to roll out laptops/tablets to schools (like australia did under rudd and gillard).... that some schools will literally put “parents must get a reliable tablet computer or laptop computer for their child to use for assignments”. when it comes to high school, i imagine that they’ll need their own laptop/tablet the whole way through their time there, if there is no longer any school provided or limited school provided laptops/desktop computers/tablets.

that’s besides the point that laptops etc are even more so required now than ever before, after everyone was forced to do homeschooling because of covid??? so. practically. a kid asking for a macbook/ipad or other tablets/laptops for their birthday or christmas, isn’t such a bad idea for a present??? even if yeah. apple is overrated and overpriced to the max. but suck it up and pay for your child’s future education??? even it means getting a cheaper laptop or tablet for your kid.

all i can say on the above point is that yes. the idea of ~bring your own device~ policies does set many families back- especially those in/from lower income areas/backgrounds or single parent families... considering that a decent tablet will set you back at least $500 and a decent mini laptop is around the same.... but bigger and better laptops are around $1000 on sale (windows) or idek like $1,200 on an apple education pricing deal. like yeah. it’s a demarcation thing and also setting some people up to fail. and again, this has been made increasingly obvious during covid due to different families acces to buying laptops/tablets or other internet connection means. i also understand that these big ticket item purchases of tablets/laptops hits the hip pockets of everyone harder during the pandemic, especially if you’re struggling with debt like mortgage repayments or whatever while being made redundant or are being paid less while working from home.

okay. not to sound like a spoilt brat of a kid, but i got my first laptop, an i-book G4 for my 10th birthday in 2005. then almost 10 years later, i got a macbook for my 18th birthday (and for my HSC/end of high school exams) in 2013. yes, this is the macbook that i promptly fucked up two years later in 2015, by trying to encrypt the hard drive, since i was taking it to uni and it had all my internet passwords remembered on it along with my banking details. the same goes for my other windows laptop... where the hard drive just decided to fry itself like 4 months into me using it, along with the trackpad. and that was a $1,200 ASUS laptop (bought on sale) that i was using for uni. and then finally my little HP stream laptop’s keyboard shorted out halfway through a creative writing class (that was $500 and it only has a 28gb hard drive so it’s very light and good for transport).

but my point is, me having my own laptop (as opposed to using the family computer only) helped me immensely in my studies..... and they were literally fucking essential to me both in business college and uni. but they were also helpful in late high school, considering that 90% of my assignment work was expected to be typed out in microsoft word or powerpoint or excel (for maths and science). or for more creative projects, i was expected to use adobe photoshop and video editing software like imovie or adobe premiere pro (art/computer tech/drama/that weird year 7 subject i did called INTEL) and garageband/sibelius (for music). how on earth was i supposed to keep doing work on adobe photoshop or word etc at home if i didn’t have my own laptop to continue the work???

because as a final point, for me, literally by year 10 in 2011, NOT ONE of my assignments was expected to be handwritten (bar my actual exams or in class tests; also state tests/exams etc; or if it was a poster or visual art). if you dared to turn in something handwritten, the teacher and student interaction would be like the following example:

teacher to a kid whose handed in a handwritten assignment: did you not read the assessment outline? it said WORD PROCESSED WITH WORD! what is this handwritten thing? okay fine. i’ll take it this time. but read the outline next time, timothy!

the teacher, probs thinking to themself: weird that a kid thinks they can hand in something handwritten. silly, really.

the above scenario was the same for me in years 11 & 12. also, by year 9/2010, we were using the education management system moodle (and maybe early stage presi for online presentations) for both of our HSIE subjects (history and geography) and i think a couple of other subjects, during most lessons and especially for class work that involved group work/class discussions, via online discussion boards function. my year group was actually was actually one of the test year groups for the early models of moodle. so by the time i was in uni, i was a native to using moodle; so i could skip the “moodle help tutorial” subject portions on it in every class.

hell, for today, i wouldn’t be surprised if foreign language subject faculties in high schools are now using school subscription class accounts or something for duolingo or babbel. and today, kids are learning coding from like year 4 onwards, i think, on apps at school as part of their science & tech studies lesson portion of the day. how on fucking earth are kids meant to keep up with their class work progression on coding apps or whatever, at home, if they don’t have their own laptop/tablet??? ridiculous. how would kids fare today without their own laptop/tablet, if all of their classwork for homeschooling is on like google drive/cloud or whatever other open source drive/open source cloud software their school uses?? or any other apps that their school might use??? obviously we are seeing this play out in real time during the pandemic, world over, where if a child is in a single parent family or if their two parents don’t have adequate enough resources/have been fired or let go from their jobs/juggling working from home and homeschooling; then it’s hurting these kids likelihood of doing well with distance learning.

but yeah. my point is that if your kid is asking you for a laptop or a tablet (regardless of brand) for their birthday or christmas, maybe buy them one?? because you never know. it may be the very thing at the top of their student resource list for the following school year. and also. do you know what stops kids fighting over their access to the family computer/tablet to do their assessments etc??? buying them their own personal laptops or tablets. even if they do cost an arm and a fucking leg. get your heads out of your asses and help your own goddamned kids (or relatives if it’s a nephew/niece etc asking for one) like you’re supposed to.

okay. for phones. i’ll admit i wouldn’t like a 10 year old having their own phone, because of social media being so easy to access on them. but if you don’t allow them to use the app store and don’t allow them to download instagram/facebook et al..... and give them the phone solely for safety reasons, i think that’s fine?

i’ve had a phone since i was 10 years old. also not to sound awfully clichè, but i turned out okay??? i had to have a phone back in year 4/2005 due to safety and also family issues. do you know what my teachers did with it? locked it away in their desk til the end of the day. obvs they had to remind me to take it home sometimes (bc i did leave it behind at school in the desk a few times lmao) but yeah. i was alright. if a kid wants a phone..... maybe make a compromise and get the classic nokia 3310 or something?? like i obvs agree that kids as young as 10 defs don’t need a smartphone like an iphone or a samsung galaxy. but a rock solid and basic nokia 3310 or whatever with no wifi access??? that’s good enough imo.

24-25 June 2020 // The days Hugh Laurie replied to me 2 times in 24 hours

Here’s the story:  -on the first picture 24th June 2020: someone tweeted about his book The Gun Seller being their current favorite book, then an anon account using Bart Simpson’s pic as pfp said something like “only 3 people read his book”, that’s why he’s saying “oh no, you’re not all three people Bart knows?”  then i wrote him that tweet, in defence of him of course and i wasnt really expecting anything but then his tweet notification came in, i saw him tweeted in Turkish but it wasnt in a “reply”. Twitter glitches sometimes like this or he accidentally hit the wrong reply button when he was trying to write in Turkish. It was so sweet of him and actually enough for me. I never ask for more, i know how to settle with what i’ve got in my life. Btw it’s not a translated version, he probably wrote it as he remembered Turkish, which is very sweet and kind of him. Because that “teşekkür” word is really hard for foreigners so we understand when they say “tessekur” instead. “Teşekkür ederim” means “Thank you!”. And this whole thing was enough to celebrate which i did for that night. But some people kept asking “uh, are you sure he replied to you?” like no he decided to talk in Turkish all of a sudden jfc. i had to explain this to people that day all day. Also i had a very long and shitty day so him doing that boosted my mood so it was all enough for me.

-the other day, on 25th June: i was still in shock of him replying in Turkish the previous night but you know, people gotta live on with their lives so i was living on, at around like 7:25 pm, i started playing the guitar, with my laptop opened, twitter tab was opened, my airpods were on but my phone was somewhere that my eyes cant see it, apparently, 5 mins later i started playing my guitar innocently, this man decided to reply to me properly like under something that i spent 3 days on, 45 hours to make for his birthday 2 WEEKS AGO!! 2 WEEKS AGO!! Man how did you even find that? Maybe he realized he replied under the wrong tweet the other day so he went there and found it. I assume he enjoyed the video cause thanked for the “send-off” haha, BUT HOW DID YOU FIND THAT!!! Some of my friends even saw it before i did and i literally checked my screen like “did he just... did he say this to me? Is this his real acc?? (there’s the fcking white tick) are we sure it’s him?....” once i came to believing that it’s actually him i started “what will i say him now....” it took me 15 mins to write a proper reply to him, and im still not okay with it cause i couldve made a better joke... Whatever happened in his mind and around there, i am so thankful, now i have a story to tell him if i meet him someday. The man i’ve been a fan of since was 16 years old, replied to me TWICE in 24 hours and i’ll forever be celebrating this. I literally wasnt expecting him to say anything or even see that birthday video i edited, he just went to look up my account or idk maybe searched my twitter handle and his own name and this came up, whatever happened, i cannot thank him enough for giving me the energy boost that i needed for a long time. Bless him for thinking of me and making me the happiest person on the planet for 2 days.... And if you now go to his acc on twitter, his last 2 activites were replying to me hahaskjdfhjksdf i feel privilaged hjsdhkasak

I couldnt go to his Istanbul gig in 2014 cause i broke my foot 1 week before that and my doctor strictly banned me from walking for 10 days so i was really upset and angry at myself... you know what... 6 years later, that footache officially healed after all of this...
