I borrowed @mothinked's gifs and cut out Ellie's particular reactions (also slowed them down) so I could analyze her adorable, dorky demeanor.

The way Ellie starts being so shy when Dina says she wants to ask her a question. Ellie knows she's gonna ask about the kiss. Dina might be smooth about it, but Ellie knows. It's the way Dina asks. Like, all of a sudden she wants to ask her a question? What could it be, hm? This is why Ellie's answer to her "Can I ask you a question?" is "I don't know, can you?" because she's not only preparing the answer in her head but basically asking Dina whether she's ready to even have this conversation. I mean, there's still Jesse in the picture, right? He's not Dina's boyfriend anymore, but he's Ellie's friend, and she already feels bad about kissing Dina as soon as they broke up. And Dina digging deeper into it makes it too real. Ellie is such a bashful cookie here.

Then comes the way Ellie looks at Dina before bringing the joint to her lips. Like sorry, the girl is replying the kiss in her head, getting reminded of how good Dina's tongue felt against hers and how sweet and soft her lips were. The kiss was unexpected; it happened so fast, and it was too short, but the tongue was there. She wishes she had it recorded in her brain.

I'm not even gonna talk about the way Ellie looks at Dina when she finally takes a puff. That girl is fucking her friend with her eyes, and she is not even subtle about it. No wonder the sexual tension was so palpable from this moment on.
