I’ve read the leaked script page—the whole page— not just the Carol teaser. I’m not going to share it just in case it gets anyone in trouble, but fwiw I strongly believe it’s a sanctioned leak, meaning AMC wants to gauge our reactions so they can plan their marketing strategies going forward.
I’ve reread this thing a bunch of times from different angles—as a writer and as a fan—and every time I come out of it feeling like the concerns I’ve expressed before have been validated. Again, I don’t have the big picture, just this one page that suggests:
1. AMC and co are struggling to write/market Daryl’s character. I'm so sick of the ambiguity. I'm so sick of the baiting. And, I'm worried I'm going to end up resenting him if it isn't made explicitly clear how he's feeling (particularly about Carol) ASAP. There’s an excessive amount of conventional action heroes on TV. Daryl has never been one of them, AND THAT’S A GOOD THING. Why not lean into it?
2. AMC doesn’t consider the ways they are constantly using women to service the male hero’s story or how it’s impacting the female lead we’re all really invested in. They can flaunt the number of women they have in the writers’ room all they want. It means absolutely nothing if leadership can’t get over their biases and listen 👏 to 👏 their 👏 audience.
3. It makes me happy that Carol is going to be riding Daryl’s bike and that Daryl is going to be her emotional drive. But take a closer look at the action line “as we left her in 106.” If that's the case, then to me that implies they’re relying on gimmicks (Daryl’s bike) to get us hyped rather than giving us any real payoff. It’s low hanging fruit, it’s a huge gamble considering that most of the audience has no faith left in any eventual payoff, and it’s not enough.
I feel like I have as much as I need to conclude S1 isn’t worth any amount of my time or my money, not that I wasn’t sure already. Whether S2 will be worth watching remains to be seen, and is dependent on how faithful the story is to the relationship between Caryl which was twelve years in the making.
I know I’m going to get a lot of asks, which I will answer as soon as I can. Just please be patient with me, and please keep in mind that I’m trying to honor strike rules to the best of my ability while still providing insight.
I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade. I said before that we should focus on Carol/Caryl, so if you love this little leak as much as I do, go nuts about it. The fact remains that Carol is back. Melissa is back. Season 2 will have her in it and that’s worth celebrating. I just feel it's important that we aren’t playing into AMC’s gross strategies in the meantime or responding to even a tiny hint of ship baiting that might come our way. Do not stop reminding AMC what you'll pay for—unambiguous Caryl canon.
Side note: I don’t know if they’re trying to use name recognition to lure back a reluctant audience, but I’m not promoting or watching anything with “DD” as a placeholder. I think it's disrespectful to their female lead and to loyal Carol/Caryl fans, so please make it stop.
Other side note: I would not be surprised if more info on a potential S3 comes out soon to try to get us to "hang in there."

Saw your tags about MHA being a lesson in restraint when it comes to having different opinion than the fandom norm and please take this ask as an excuse to share your MHA thoughts <- I want to know them if you're willing to share
Oh ho ho I will gladly talk about how my MHA opinions differ from fandom thank you for the opportunity. That said I'm basing what 'fanon' is on what seems to be most popular in fan fics and popular posts I see on Twitter and Tumblr
Also I'm breaking this up into sections because I've noticed a lot of my fanon opinions tends to overlap
Fanon uses character interactions as proof of ships, cliques, or found families instead of considering each interaction as part of a narrative whole. Now, I know this isn't unique to MHA, every fandom does this to some extent, however with a cast as large as MHA's it's more prevalent when so many ships overlap. Each major or even minor interaction is "proof" of a ship being canon and is more or less valid than "proof" for other ships - meanwhile the narrative so rarely cares about romance (barring the Toga/Uraraka/Deku subplot) that arguing about any of that feels very pointless. Bakudeku shippers are the most guilty to me about this; for example, in a recent chapter when Deku thinks about how Iida held his hand and helped him feel calm (a moment that ties into the larger narrative theme of helping a lost child by taking their hand), I saw Bakudeku shippers try to pretend Deku was actually thinking about how much he wanted to hold Bakugo's hand since he never took it in their youth, despite that never being hinted at. I don't even dislike Bakugo or Bakudeku as a ship but it gets so grating when I see big moments for other characters get watered down because they don't fit a shipping lens, which goes doubly for MHA where the narrative supports the idea that everyone is important and everyone should help everyone no matter who they are to them.
While I'm beating the Bakudeku hornet's nest I might as well throw in my grievances with the Erasermic Family and its persistence in almost every. Single. Fic. Or at least the ones I read because Aizawa is one of my favorite characters, but so many Aizawa-related fics I've read seem intent on making Present Mic his husband and Shinsou his adopted son. Listen. Erasermic is fine. It's fine. I even like it from time to time. I just wish it wasn't a fanfic staple because I actually think their canon relationship of comfortable-yet-somewhat-strained old high school friends is much more interesting to explore, especially with the twist of Shirakumo's fate. It also cheapens Present Mic sometimes, because Present Mic is usually portrayed in these fics as... how should I say this... motherly? Wife-like. I don't like that. He's a silly goofy guy but he's also impulsive and angry and puts on a facade and that nuance almost never gets translated when he's transplanted into a domestic familial role with Aizawa. Shinsou being Aizawa's son also feels like it cheapens Shinsou's character arc in a way? I don't hate the son theory I guess but Aizawa clearly only trained him, not adopted him, and making Shinsou a "mini-me" of sorts tends to blur his actual character and motivations to be the same as Aizawa's when they're not. The only dynamic here that has any canon foothold is Aizawa being an adoptive father to Eri. I think Aizawa being a dad to most of the other kids is overblown sometimes but he will always be Eri's dad to me. Present Mic is like her goofy uncle.
Fanon loves making backstories too tragic. Two of the most popular fic tropes I see either makes Midoriya's mom abusive or gives Shinsou a muzzle and abusive foster family, which... okay, one thing I really love about MHA canon is that everyone has a good reason for what they do and everyone suffers a little hardship due to the way society is all in varied and relatable ways. Characters like Midoriya and Shinsou DO suffer in canon but not any more than being bullied in middle school for their quirk or lack of quirk, which I think works well enough for two boys who still aspire to be good and still have some faith in the system that hurt them like most people in this universe do. Characters like Toga, Twice, and Shigaraki already have plenty of tragedy to justify their villainy, as well as Hawks who also has a tragic backstory and serves as a hero counter for them, so it doesn't appeal to me to so often give that pain tenfold to characters who don't fit those roles beyond a what-if exercise.
Fanon takes things characters say at face value and accepts the most shallow interpretation of a character. This is especially true for liars like Dabi and Hawks, who often say one thing and mean another. It's not as much of a problem at current since both Hawks and Dabi are probably at their most authentic in canon right now, but it's still an issue in fics I read where Hawks is presented genuinely as a flirty and cocky hero and Dabi is presented genuinely as someone who doesn't care about anyone but himself. It's really frustrating when something I love about Hawks is his nuanced interactions with almost every other character, which are always glossed over in his discourse. I'll give two of the most glaring examples:
Tumblr media
I've almost never seen a take about this scene that justifies why Hawks does this - I usually only see comments about how he's getting into Todoroki's space, isn't aware of personal boundaries, or is being too nosy in the family drama. To me, the answer to why he does this is clearly deeper: he's dropping his laid-back facade and asking a serious question all while putting himself in Todoroki's shoes and planting himself firmly on Todoroki's side. He wants an answer to the scar because the answer is important to him; if Endeavor was the one who inflicted it, it would have tarnished the view he had of his old hero because Hawks knows what it's like to have an abusive father. This is only further cemented when later on Hawks says Todoroki is better than he is because Todoroki is finding it within himself to help the parents who hurt him, unlike Hawks, who feels he abandoned his own.
Tumblr media
There's also this and other panels during the fight with Twice ("I'll be sure to tell that to the league") where Hawks seems to be rubbing salt in the wound and overall being a dick about betraying Twice's trust, and I've seen the interpretation here that Hawks is simply being a dick because he is one. And, I mean, this isn't to say that Hawks can't be a dick sometimes, but in the moment it feels like a culmination of two things: 1. Half of this interaction is framed through Twice's POV, so of course we're seeing the worst of Hawks here, and 2. Hawks is intentionally distancing himself from the Hawks he knows would have gladly been Twice's friend, because he knows there's a chance he might have to kill him. Whenever we're in Hawks' head during this fight, it's always focusing on how much he doesn't want to fight Twice and how much hope he has for things to turn out for the better. When he finally makes up his mind that he can't turn it in his favor, he turns cold and harsh again, probably as a coping mechanism similar to Lady Nagant's. Also frustrating when people use this as an example of in-universe police brutality when in actuality Hawks is a groomed child soldier acting very hesitantly to fulfill government orders. Those two issues are not the same.
Oversimplification isn't contained to Dabi and Hawks, though. Kaminari flirts sometimes so all he is is a flirt, Midoriya cries sometimes so he's submissive and weak, Iida is bossy sometimes so he's a goody-two-shoes stick-in-the-mud. One-note fanon characterizations plague almost every character and that does almost none of the actual characters justice. Any character with more relevance than, say, Ojiro has more than one side to them in canon that doesn't get captured all that much in fanon.
Fanon overanalyzes things that are Shonen convention. It's funny, on one hand, I think fanon interprets characters too shallowly, and on the other, I think it reaches far too deep to draw conclusions where the actual answer is "because the author wanted it." Aizawa and All Might bear the brunt of this mischaracterization because they're the main adults in this series, so all of their missteps feel overanalyzed to prove an abuse of authority when actually it's just irrational decisions made to keep the story moving forward. "All Might was irresponsible for telling a quirkless kid he didn't have a chance at becoming a hero and leaving him alone on a roof" I guarantee you the implications of that was probably not even a thought when that scene was written, and if it was, All Might certainly wouldn't have assumed them or else he would have dealt with that differently. "Aizawa is a bad teacher for not expelling Bakugo after he almost killed Deku in their first test" if he expelled Bakugo or had properly dealt with their toxic relationship earlier we would not have a story. "Aizawa is a bad teacher for not expelling Mineta for being a creepy weirdo" if he expelled Mineta then Horikoshi wouldn't have his favorite comic relief pervert archetype. Sometimes we just have to say "Horikoshi wanted this to happen so that's why it happened that way" and move on.
Fanon has selective memory and short attention span. Maybe this is just because there seemed to be a falling off of fandom participation around the time of Season 5, but a lot of fanon I've seen seems stuck in pre-season 5 era characterizations, sometimes even pre-Season 3. Bakugo and Endeavor both have some of the best character developement in the series, and Aizawa also has a lot of subtle growth, but people tend to focus on how bad Bakugo and Endeavor were in Season 1-3 and how good Aizawa is in Season 4, even though Aizawa was also kind of an asshole Season 1-3. It tends to lead to some cartoonishly evil takes on Bakugo and Endeavor and overly-saccharine takes on "Dad"zawa. I say this also as someone who loves Aizawa and is fairly neutral on Bakugo and Endeavor, but I just don't think fanon takes in the whole picture of their character arc sometimes.
Those are my big umbrella opinions, I have more minute ones (especially regarding Iida, Aizawa, and Hawks) but I've already ranted long enough. I know a lot of this comes down to a young fanbase but to be honest the people I tend to disagree the most with are my age so I can't chalk it all up to that lol. Anyways thanks for the chance to rant!

random question but as someone who's considering trying to do my own rewrite esque thing... is it weird that i want to like. Fix bramble and squirrel's relationship instead of having him continue to be an abuser? Maybe it's just the fact that I liked them as a kid (or that i havent read SqH/past OOTS) but there's this weird disconnect where the bramble in my head is apparently a lot different than other people read in the text lol. figured id ask you since you're The wc rewrite person
You can sort through my tags on Bramblestar if you'd like ideas. I am the king of "Bramble why can't you be GOOD." I talk a lot about how he is abusive, what I enjoy and what I don't enjoy about the idea of an abuse plotline, so on.
I personally won't recommend fixing Bramblesquirrel as a ship though. I think it would be a lot better to rewrite them as adopted siblings... tbh I've never seen a romantic BrambleSquirrel rewrite that didn't keep blaming Squilf as "just as bad" and "pushing each other's buttons" which I think is a really, really uncomfortable implication considering canon
Like... unfortunately, fanfic is inherently a commentative medium. We can fix, we can prune, we can rewrite, but we can't break free of the implications of canon.
I personally feel like the line is so fine that's impossibly razor thin.
So if you are committed to fixing BrambleSquirrel, please try to make sure to treat Squilf as valid. Bramble is constantly downplaying and ignoring her because she's loud and assertive, even though she's nearly always right.
She couldn't trust him with that secret; the second he found out he abandoned his family and acted passive aggressive for an entire year. He trained in the Dark Forest and let Leafpool take the fall for secrets he leaked to Hawkfrost. He throws Firestar's legacy at Squilf while getting pissed off that anyone throws Tiger's legacy back at him, even when they're not.
He holds the fact she wants a new baby over Squilf's head to invalidate her concerns all Squilf's Hope long, screams at her for caring about endangering kittens, and then leads a battle patrol against pregnant women.
Please please keep these in mind. Please either eliminate these, or for fuck's sake, don't "Bothsides" these issues
I think if you're going to fix Bramblesquirrel, you cannot give Bramble power. You'll have to completely change these situations so that he is not the deputy or leader, as these conflicts drive the plot. I can recommend Brackenstar or Thornstar instead, have Squilf lose a deputy position over the secret, Bramble is upset but supportive.
(Especially tap into how ThunderClan treats the three differently after this reveal, "i was angry you didn't trust me, but i see why you did it <:/")
Keep the internal arguments between the two of them harmless. Model something like Honeymooners, where in spite of their arguments being loud and blustering, Squilf is clearly never ACTUALLY afraid of him and NONE of these fights end in Big Summer Blowouts.
(And a side note; if your relationships look like that, you deserve better. It is actually not normal to have huge fights every month. I was Shocked but it is true.)
Remember, remember, remember; you have to SHOW me them being a healthy couple in spite of any arguing they do. Imagine that you CANT tell me "they love each other." You can never say that word-- can I still tell they are a loving couple?
If the answer is ever no, reevaluate.

2 and 25? 😁
2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
oh no my only weakness... i have to be real every single ship i write i imagine switchy. so take this as a "in certain circumstances" kind of thing. i have written fic that contradicts both of these. it'll be compelling (hopefully) but honestly i don't know if i'll believe it. buuut. maedhros is absolutely a control freak that doesn't like being vulnerable, and sleeping with people is already toeing the line a little bit too much. i wrote enemy of good in part about his control issues in bed and i think that fic kind of captures my headcanons about his general vulnerability issues. i'm working on a longer fic about him experimenting with trauma through kink, and the rush that having power over people gives him -- so i lean towards "maedhros has to be in a very good mental state to bottom, which, considering that he wouldn't recognize a good mental state if bit him in the ass, means he doesn't really bottom." also hmmm. miriel is equally a control freak in my mind's eye. she will bottom but she will never stop bossing her partners around. she has an artistic vision for this sexual encounter please stop interrupting her creative process with your leg cramps 25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing oh man I do not know if I have a good answer for this. here are two weird ones i know that banning a language is a shitty move but i feel like. the level at which people talk about thingol is a person for banning quenya among his people is weirdly disproportionate to the action, especially considering it was prompted by him finding out he was lied to about the deaths of his own people. like it feels like people assign that action a worse moral value than all the murder. that being said that is such a feanorian assessment of morality i do kind of loop back around to admiring it. i'm also reaaallly over hearing arguments about what tolkien intended or wanted in terms of shipping (i think it's still an interesting question when we interpret some other parts of the text!). "tolkien was a catholic who would have hated your gay ships" has weirdly managed to make it on my dash several times and that is obviously the worst one. but i also kind of find the argument of "no i promise tolkien actually made x ship gay on purpose" kind of... tinfoil hat-y? i've never been convinced by them. and honestly, i don't really like the whole framework of applying authorial intent to ships. my current #1 favorite ship for the fandom was absolutely, 110% not intended, but i just... don't need jirt's permission or intention in this. i feel like the arguments about whether something like russingon or turleg (two ships i really like, mind you!) were intended by canon kind of imply that they would be less valid if they were not?
i have no idea if this makes sense & i do actually find the queer readings/analysis very interesting. but if anything i generally tend to assume that they leaked into tolkien from the (secretly queerer than we assume?) fairytales/myths/epics he was inspired by rather than being there by design. i feel like we can point out things like "hey, x plotline mirrors a romance" without needing to necessarily say "tolkien intended this and meant to hide gay stuff in his works." like i'm just over needing that old man's permission or intent.
this has been the rambliest response yet and i hope it's entertaining/coherent lmao. thank you for your ask!!

Who do you think are the endgame? Geokata, Alamary, NicolFray? And who for Maria, Keith, Sophia? In some way, I ship Keith Sophia. When/which would be final volume?
If you're asking me who I think is gonna be endgame, you're pretty much right :DD It's sprinkled with my personal tastes and opinions though, so I'm sure those three pairs look ridiculous to some people fjhsgdf (if anyone is confused why Nicol and Fray are together, please refer to my crack theory XDD)
Tumblr media
These are only my opinions though, I'm not the author and I dn't know how the story is gonna end at all. These are just my preferences. I just want to say that every ship is valid and a ship being canon doesn't exactly invalidate the others. The story is far from over, so we're all still free to ship whoever we want with each other.
GeoKata and AlaMary are big contenders for endgame, but neither Mary nor Alan are anywhere near close to giving up on Katarina. I mean they are kinda obvious endgame since let's not kid ourselves, they don't have much chances with her unless it's a multiple ending or a harem ending. There's also Maria and Keith, who are the biggest rivals to Geordo when it comes to Katarina, and everything that the author is currently doing to give them more points and chances shakes the likeliness of the GeoKata ending. I mean it's easy for me to say that they are obvious endgame, but again, I'm not the author so I don't know the direction they are taking with the series.
Everything pretty much depends on whether the ending is GeoKata, MariKata, Harem or None. And you already know where my bet is in >:DD
I kinda want to dwell a bit more into NicoFray and theorize some end-game pairings for Keith, Sophia and Maria since they are the most vague right now. These are coming with doodles too since I felt like drawing :DD
Warning: OPINIONS and HAMEFURA SPOILERS below :))
So like, in my ideal world, I'd love for Nicol and Fray to end up together hsjdhgf. I mean we haven't seen a lot of Fray yet even if I combine all her media appearances, and we haven't confirmed whether she's the Lady from Nicol's fiancee candidates in Volume 5. Now that we have an official design for Fray, I guess they look visually good beside each other. We don't really know if Fray is gonna be an active or important enough character to pair up with a main character like Nicol, but I'll hold onto this crack ship until we get confirmations on stuff.
Nicol's partner should be someone who can keep up a conversation with him, just like what he said he wanted in the extra info from Volume 5. I think Fray could fill that role, I mean Ginger is a pretty introverted person who originally just kept to herself but Fray was able to hold conversations and become close to her just fine! While Fray is almost just as much of a magic-nut as her (most likely) sister Suzanna, it might feel like Nicol would luck out by ending up with her, but from the impression I got of the Lady from V5 (who again, might be Fray), she enjoyed talking about her dreams and ambitions with Nicol, and he was a good listener who enjoyed and admired her passion.
The Lady from Volume 5 really left an impression on some people, but again we don't really even know if she's supposed to become relevant or if she's just a tool to prevent Nicol from giving up his spot in the Katarina-race. There's always the possibility of the latter being the case, so for now it really just a crack ship rather than a full contender for endgame pair.
I feel like a lot of people would not like this pairing though, since ideally all four girls should be paired up with the four guys. That would mean that if Nicol should be with anyone, it should probably be Maria. I've read a few Maria/Nicol fics and they were all lovely, so I can't say that I wouldn't approve of it.
As for Keith, Sophia and Maria;
I agree, I kinda ship Keith and Sophia with each other too :DD Right now, Keith is still too far from giving up on Katarina to be able to consider him with anyone, but given that Sophia is also romantically unavailable right now it'd make sense to want to pair them up. Keith and Sophia are both the characters who could have lived their entire childhood locked away from the world, unable to face the sun and come out if it wasn't for Katarina's influence, so that similarity is pretty cool. Keith naturally dotes on people (because he's too used to it with Katarina) so having him dote on Sophia would be cute :DD
But again, Keith is too far from giving up on Katarina yet (they all are, lol) so who can really say right now? ^^;; they might introduce more male and female characters after all.
Tumblr media
When it comes to Maria, ah that's kind of a pickle. Maria only really depends on what direction the author wants to take, In the 50/50 chance that the author chooses Maria for Katarina over Geordo, then that would be while new bunch of strings of guesses to make.
I don't even really like talking about that alternate scenario, because I know I'm hurting a lot of people by talking about stuff like this hjgjshdgf I know lots of people adore Maria and Katarina together, and whenever I talk about other characters I think Maria should end up with, I feel a prick on my heart (that, and I feel bad for the characters I'd choose for Maria since they would be the object of hatred, like Geordo) qwq
But welp, it's part of the question, so I gotta answer qwq!!
I think Maria should end up Raphael! I'm sure it's not the first time I've answer them as my ideal endgame pair. Lots of people like to make parallels between Katarina and Maria saying "OOH they are confirmed endgame, they have light and dark parallels!" because light vs dark covenant and heroine vs villainess parallels, but come on don't forget the boy who originally had that spot. I don't have a screenshot, but they even made a Raphael-Dark vs Maria-Light shot in the first season of the anime!
I think ideally for me, I'd love for Maria to end up with a boy from the original Fortune Lover game, either Nicol (if Fray is not an option) or Raphael. Maria ending up with the secret love interest of the first game would be pretty meta if you ask me XDD Raphael in Volume 5 did say that her ideal scenario with a hypothetical partner is coming home to a nice meal or a warm bed. I think Maria could and would love to do that for our overworked redhead :)) and if not that, Raphael did say that he feel like he wouldn't be able to go home in the first place, so if he had someone as loving and warm as Maria by his side, he'd feel the warmth of home even in the Ministry. I'm sure someone like Maria would help and support Raphael as he overworks himself, and makes sure he takes care of himself despite of the workload. I think that's a really cute image.
If not Raphael, then our only options left are the boys from Fortune Lover 2, specifically the only two characters who are even in love with Maria right now XDD
Dewey is out of the picture, because age gap, so that leaves us with Cyrus Lanchester, her boss in the Magic Research Department! I don't want it to look like I'm only giving Maria a bunch of leftovers, because Cyrus would be cute would Maria!
I think I've said it before, but Maria's ideal date with her hypothetical partner is having a picnic with them, which is honestly the kind of love flag event I'd expect from Cyrus's route since he kinda already did something like that with Katarina. Cyrus might be a viscount, but he's lived most of his life like a commoner, so he and Maria basically already share the same lifestyle. Given Cyrus' commoner history and love for rice, I can imagine that he can cook pretty well, so he'd be like the chef to Maria's baker <3
Cyrus is also pretty similar to Katarina in the way that they both love farming, so that's a similarity between the two that Maria could appreciate. Cyrus is absolutely in love with Maria, being the first positive interaction he's had with a woman in years (except for Katarina, who he sees like an old lady because of her vibe lmao) and is generally such a beautiful and kind person. He does his best to maintain his strict and cold façade even when they are working, but he clearly has a soft spot for her that would lead to him breaking his decorum if it means keeping her safe. I don't remember if Cyrus had a big appetite like Katarina, but both of them enjoys eating together so Maria could appreciate that. I'm sure Cyrus would also adore Maria's baked sweets if he got a taste of them :DD
Again, we're still very far from the point of Maria giving up on Katarina, so Cyrus has never even entered her radar at all lmao. I just think it'd be nice for Cyrus to end up with someone like Maria, or just let it be Maria haha.
It's easy to speculate on endgame pairs based on what-ifs, but the story is still very far from over so I don't really know if any of these pairings would be canon.
Many people are still anticipating for a harem route, and honestly the summary for Volume 11 is having me sweat buckets in nervousness for GeoKata's future jhghjdsf
Like I said, all ships are valid, and my word is not fact. Feel free to ship anyone with whoever you want, all ships and fun and beautiful, and thats what makes hamefura so amazing :DD
Thank you for the ask^^

If you had told me yesterday that I wouldn't care about the Loki show anymore, I wouldn't have believed you. Yet here we are. I had maintained hope that we were heading into some AoA style confrontation between Loki and some other Loki. I actually thought the things they brought up during the interrogation scene would be addressed.
I thought Loki was supposed to seize the narrative and prove the timekeepers and every other person wrong. Instead, Loki is the POV character and Sylvie is the protagonist. I thought "this story isn't about you" was something to refute, not the show's mission statement. Hugs to the Loki fandom, I think we really need it today 2/2 (sorry I keep forgetting those things)
The first episode wrote a check the rest couldn't deliver (and even the first episode was tepid at best). But wait, I have to give the whole show a go, right? Wait til everything is out to make my final judgement, right? That's what everyone's been saying!
Never in a million years did I think the show would be this bad. Joke's on me for expecting a Loki show to be about Loki and not some OCs who constantly beat him up and tell him how pathetic and worthless he is. And you know, I could even deal with that since that's what canon has been doing it to him all along, but until ragnarok (and IW to a lesser extent), the narrative wasn't on those character's sides. We still got to see Loki being badass and competent, even if he did eventually lose.
I thought "this story isn't about you" was something to refute, not the show's mission statement.
SAME, ANON, SAME!
This is supposed to be his show, yet Sylvie is the only one who drives the narrative forward. What the fuck has Loki done? Got Mobius on his side, who was immediately zapped? (And let's be real, more narrative weight was given to Mobius being suspicious about C-20 than Loki actually having anything to do with changing Mobius' mind. He just confirmed what Mobius was already suspecting.) Got himself killed again (as far as he was aware at the time)? Give me a fucking break. If they really had to do the fucking TVA narrative, why wasn't it about Loki in Sylvie's position? Why not have him escape, fight the TVA, work to bring them down, discover the TVA were all made up of variants?
Like fuck, imagine the narrative tension of Loki figuring out those people he has been fighting and killing were nothing but brainwashed slaves and the whole plot is so much bigger than even an organization that controls all of time? And not some reveal handed to us in dialogue about some people I, at least, don't give a fiddly fuck for.
And let's be clear, I don't give a fuck what people ship or don't. Sylvie/Loki, Loki/Mobius, Loki/whoever, I don't care.
But if they're really going for the selfcest, maybe don't speedrun it and present it as Loki being some fucking narcissist loser who only ever loved himself. Which, you know, was the actual framing the show put out. I know people are reinterpreting it as "Loki loving himself is literally breaking the timeline", but that feels so unearned and out of left field. It's just lazy, bad writing. And you just know it never would have happened had Sylvie been male.
Loki and Mobius' friendship is also unearned. Friends?!! Friends???!!!! The guy who kept berating you and torturing you and telling you you were worthless and manipulating you and calling you incompetent is who Loki considers a friend???? To the point of tears??????? GIVE ME A BREAK.
NO, IT'S SHITTY AND UNEARNED. Fucking hell, please gets some better standards for friendship, Loki. I hate it.
This show isn't about Loki, it's about validating every worst fucking take on his character I've ever seen.

All fans are equal but some are more equal than others. NOT.
There’s been quite a few people in the fandom lately getting very stressed, feeling they’re obligated to constantly be on the defensive re: their fandom choices.
Apparently, whoever has a different opinion about a character or a ship must be said character’s/ship’s stan i.e. overzealous and/or obsessive, i.e. not an objective viewer. Even worse, they must be a dreadful person, who condones a number of moral offences that said character/ship perpetrated (or is thought to have perpetrated). Because, of course, the only acceptable reason for appreciating/enjoying a fictional character or dynamic is their morality. And, by that reasoning, fans who support the correct character/ship must be better fans and better people.
Nothing is more ridiculous than the notion of the objective fan. An “objective” fan is called a “viewer”. You and I, Riverdale friends, we are not just viewers. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have created blogs and dedicated hours of our lives to a fictional couple from an extremely mediocre show. We are still undoubtedly capable of critical thought and objective analysis but we are also aware of our own emotional investment in the show. (Or, at least, one hopes). As a fandom, we engage in activities that exist independently of the show. Fandom is a space of free expression. No one gets to play the higher moral card here. Needing to loudly tell everybody how wrong they are? That’s not the sign of an objective viewer. That’s the sign of a viewer who is also extremely invested, just for different reasons than I am.
Are we seriously holding the morality card over people’s heads for a show that used a poc woman’s pregnancy (Toni) as the means to retroactively establish trauma for a white male (Kevin), all the while touting it in every media possible as a woke response to the BLM movement?!
Are we seriously holding the canon card over people’s heads for a show that treats its 5th(!) season as a tabula rasa?! If the Lodges new backstory in 5x12 shows anything, it’s that s5 is not a time-jump. It’s a reboot.
There are so many people “enlightening” others on their inability to understand canon …
Seriously? That’s the hill you’re willing to die on? Canon Riverdale? You think that people don’t understand what they’re watching? That they’re interpreting canon incorrectly?
No, but seriously: canon for a TV show consists of what the characters say, what the characters do and how the actors portray them. Does this really apply to Riverdale?
Let’s take Donna for example.
Canon explicitly tells us Donna did what she did to avenge her grandmother. At the same time none of her canon actions were against the people who were actually responsible. So, riddle me this, fandom friends: why did Donna do what she did, as per canon?
Let’s try this another way:
Donna is a psycho bitch. Both in terms of Riverdale’s canon (the writers’ intention) and real-life criteria. To create a tag that reads “Bonna for ever uwu!” is deranged.
On the other hand, her character is (like a lot of Riverdale’s characters) an inconsistent caricature. Canon uses ridiculous dialogue and a lot of the Bonna scenes are cartoonishly enemies-to-lovers tropey. To create a tag that reads “Bonna for ever uwu!” is hilarious.
This doesn’t mean that Bonna is a canon couple. It does mean, however, that a Bonna crackship is based on Riverdale’s campy and over-the-top canonic writing.
A viewer who thinks Bonna is disgusting is not more “objective” or more “correct” or more “true to canon” than a viewer who thinks Bonna is funny. Nor are they a better person for it, and this cannot be stressed enough.
Similarly, who is canon Cheryl?
1. Cheryl is an absolute bitch: if a privileged student was calling an actual homeless boy a hobo in your real-life school, you would neither think her a queen nor use “hobo” affectionately in your tags, comments etc.
2. Cheryl is a deeply traumatized person: her father killed her brother, her mother killed half the town and forced her in conversion therapy, she attempted suicide and more.
(Note #1: this more does not mean more than the other Riverdale characters).
(Note #2: nor is it an excuse for her rudeness, affectionately called “mood for chaos” by the writers).
3. Cheryl is also a caricature of the archetypal mean girl who’s there for laughs and meta comments. She’s not to be taken seriously.
4. Cheryl is lgbtq+ representation …
5. … who canonically shits on other lgbtq+ characters.
6. Cheryl is one half of Choni, who are canonically presented as an uber couple.
7. Choni is also, as per canon, a couple with an acute power imbalance (cough!gaslighting!cough) that visually very clearly panders to the male gaze.
But most importantly:
8. Cheryl canonically is not the sum of her parts. The different facets of her character do not intermingle in any meaningful way.
Was Betty kissing Archie specifically a sore spot for Jughead?
Canonically no [2x14]. But, also, canonically yes [5x03, 5x10].
Are there seriously fans that are astonished that Betty is making some highly questionable choices while investigating?! Did they just discover Dark™Betty/Killer Genes Betty? That is canon Betty! Was it ok before because she was then smooching Jughead instead of giving him the cold shoulder? Honestly, the only newly outrageous part of s5Dark™Betty is the fact that she still believes in “killer genes” despite having spent 4 years at Yale …
As for liking/disliking Betty and morality …
Look, I’m going to be very honest: I am NOT particularly enjoying s5 Betty. And it’s not because of b*rchie.
S5 Betty has 99 problems but the sexcapades ain’t one.
For me, it’s the fact that she’s turned into s1 Alice 2.0. But surely that’s not news either? Ever since the first info about the time jump, everyone and their mother have been speculating about the teens becoming their parents …
Just because Jughead is better written (and written to be more likable), it doesn’t make him more worthy of redemption. Just because the writers are keeping Betty’s redemption “secret” (insert eye roll) for their big reveal in the season’s penultimate episode, it doesn’t mean she won’t have one.
Simply put, the writers have made Jughead more likable. He’s still the underdog. He’s the only character in Riverdale actively trying to deal with his trauma, since the very first post-time jump episode (working at Pop’s explicitly to fend off the debt collectors). He has scenes with a new and extremely likable character (Tabitha). He has the only new plot line (the Mothman). Said plotline is narratively already tied to both his unknown past and the town’s destruction by Hiram. His behaviour is explicitly explained, even as his recent trauma remains unknown. He’s transparent.
In comparison, s5 Betty is traumatized but not the underdog. Her trauma (TBK killer) is both known to us and a repetition of previous storylines, which makes it narratively less exciting. She is completely disconnected from any other storylines. She comes out as being judgmental and self-interested: telling Tabitha Jughead’s not her business while previously accepting his help? Berating Polly for lying while not keeping in touch and lying about her own life (TBK)? Please note: I’m not saying there isn’t a reason behind her behaviour, just that it comes out in a negative way.
You don’t like Betty’s current behaviour? You don’t consider trauma a good enough excuse? Cool.
You feel sorry for what she’s going through? You consider trauma to be a valid explanation for her behaviour? Also cool.
Personally, I don’t give a flying fig, either for Betty’s trauma or Jughead’s. Because, even though Trauma™ is s5’s actual mystery plot, narratively speaking, trauma never affected the plot of the past 4 seasons, nor s5 trauma will affect future plots, once revealed. And you know what? That is also cool.
None of the above is better.
And just because I’m not enjoying Betty right now, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want her to overcome her current situation or that I won’t cheer for Bughead like a River Vixen on fizzle rocks, once they reunite.
This thing though, where people are made to feel as if they owed anyone in the fandom an explanation about why they like the things they like, because, somehow, their preferences are a reflection on their character or their cognitive abilities to read a TV show? This is a joke.
There is no “wrong” way to consume any show, let alone Riverdale, with its fractured format, its short-term memory and its see-sawing characters.
Look, everybody’s here for their own reasons. For most people this is a place of escape. No one’s escaping better than the other, because of how they enjoy their teen TV show ...

Random consideration: there is an online legend about Oda can change story events if someone on the web/fans guess the thing. So... what do you think about this topic? It can be really valid? If yes, even for whatever eventual not-canon ships? I don't know, because ships are just a very side element in the story, and not like main events of the storyline. (And for my opinion, for Jin:be father topic, I could agree with who said is for the age, maybe. Anyway, I will ship FroBin forever).
Hey anon! Thank you for your question!
Maybe Oda really made Jinbe the dad because of age. right now Oda and Jinbe have the same age (46). He has two children who are (if the internet and my math are correct) 15 and 12 years old. So may it’s not unlikely? If he connects with Jinbe he would rather see him as a dad than a grandparent or a weird uncle.
-
Now, to the rest... I have to say sorry for answering so late but as of right now I’m writing parts of my answer and I literally pulling my hair because I really try to make sense of the whole situation and trying to understand the intention of a 46 year old japanese man. And this is long again so sorry about that. Anyway...
I have heard about that. I remembered something about Oda not reading Fan Theories and now I googled once more. Apparently this is the newest Information:
Tumblr media
"Oda once said he will change OP story if it coincides with fan theories. But according to TV show today, Oda will never change his plan about "final chapter" even if a fan theory hits the nail on the head. Oda said in 1999 that he had already decided final panel and chapter."
https://twitter.com/sandman_AP/status/1352851201478418432?s=20
I don’t think Oda is actively browsing the web for OP content ( how would he have time to) but he gets fanmail with questions and suggestions. And considering that over 4 million people are One Piece fans... one of them has to get it correct eventually. Trying to avoid any similarity with any fan-theory is IMPOSSIBLE.
And I do believe that Oda knows how he wants One Piece to end and won’t change that, no matter what.
As for the details in-between........ I wouldn’t say Oda is not prone to be a Troll and sometimes downright an ass towards his fans. XD Never out of malice but because he thinks it’s funny.
I’m also sure he will never focus on romance in the manga, but since love is an important part of life it will come into play now and then. Classic romance (?) more with side-characters  (Roger/Rouge, Sai/Baby5, Bege/Chiffon) than with main (Strawhats) but still possible.
He may very well edit less-important plot lines if they don't change the ending.
That also includes, that I absolutely think it’s possible that the Strawhats will have romantic involvement at the end of the story. At the moment it is never in the focus, except for plot reason (Whole Cake Island for example, though that is an entirely different topic) but absolutely possible.
Because the Strawhats boning each other or maybe someone outside of the crew will not change the story. It has no influence to anything, except if it’s on a higher scale, like if Luffy really suddenly married Boa Hancock. That would influence the political outline of the world.
Meanwhile Pauli/Iceburg or Noland/Cagara or Bartolomeo/Cavendish have literally no influence to the story (anymore). And I don’t think I have to start on things like other rare pairs or even OC-ships.
That being said, and having more stuff in mind, I wouldn’t put it past Oda to actually focus more on Jin/Bin.
Why? Well...
we had so many interactions between Robin and Franky after the time skip that it was almost ridiculous. In every single arc we see them fight alongside each other. We had strong romantic tropes portrayed with them:
Their meeting after the timeskip (Sabaody Archipelago)
Franky having his head in Robins lap (Punk Hazard)
Wearing the same shirt (Dressrosa)
Finishing each others sentence (Zou)
Franky offering Robin a ride and her answering with a heart (Wano)
And the moment the internet exploded when Robin was holding Frankys face. Which yeah, only a Colorspread and not canon yadda yadda
For now let’s gloss over all the other moments that showed that they cared for each other.
... so many.
Anyway what I want to say is that Oda had declared “All the Strawhats are in love with adventure.” and “I won’t focus on romance.”  but is seemingly showing a connection between Franky and Robin, that made one think that he might actually be aboard the ship even if the fandom itself is rather silent and small.
Meanwhile when Jinbe appeared (in the timeskip) he was instantly a hit. His popularity then rose thanks to Fishmen Island Arc. And again I can’t blame anyone. On the other hand Franky always had a hard stance. This was recently shown again because is the lowest ranked Strawhat in the popularity poll.
One (Oda) might come to a conclusion here:
Maybe people don’t like Franky and so would dislike FRobin. But since Oda also seems to enjoy grown up relationships (?) maybe he thinks Jinbe is the only reasonable replacement?  -> It could be a tactial decision.
Maybe he really changed his opinion and personally likes one more than the other. He was a FRobin supporter but now likes JinBin more? It wouldn't change anything for the story and there wouldn't be any harm -> It could be a personal decision.
Maybe he fears that he put too many hints in the manga and now has to paddle back? Because let’s be honest, until the colourspread with Robin putting her hand on Frankys face... the FRobin fandom was on the backburner. And so he wants to throw out some Red Herrings.  -> Again a tactial decision
Maybe he never inteded to make it  romantic and it is actually all just friendship. Subtext is something many authors use without being aware of it. (Just ask anyone who is a lesbian!Nami fan. They have good points.) -> A mistake from the very beginning.
And you can use these same thoughts for every other non-canon ship.
Please take everything of this with a grain of salt because I try to understand the intention of a man who is more than 10 years my senior and from a culture I can’t even start to try to comprehend (sometimes I don’t even get my own culture), who is the head figure of a money-making machine. So it’s hard to tell what else influences his decisions.
My interpretations are influenced by my own experiences and knowledge which is big and vast but also stretched very thin.
Last but not least I want to make clear that any speculation is really the same as asking a crystal ball. In the western fandom we have only few people who can even slightly try to give an insight to the whole thing and they (smart enough) keep out of any shipping discourse.
tl;dr: I don’t think Oda will change the ending. But I do think that he is willing to change minor plotlines  and so yes I think Oda might change couples for any possible reason, as long as it does not change the ending, and he does not even has to choose a good reason because in the end they are his characters and he is free to do whatever he wants with them.

Now this is what I literally don't like about interacting with Eruris You started disrespecting Hange, twisting the fact that this art is about levi and Hange then you find it strange when levihan shippers respond. You believe that if Levihan shippers did that, it gives you a valid reason to act the same? how about being the better one? how about you do the right thing? it makes you still wrong by the way. As for the official art you have used, it screams comrades to me, not romantic, comrades as in friends and the same chapter you have used, the same battle you have used in the Manga, Levi showed even stronger emotions worrying about Hange and didn't hide it, you can check it on your own. You guys depend on couple of chapters and misinterpreting loyalty in to love, like Jean literally thought about Marco 1000 times more obvious than Levi of Erwin and yet they are not canon, what makes Erwin and Levi more than Jean and Marco's relation? Levi's ackerbond with Erwin does not mean love, a man respecting his promise and honoring his word to a precious friend is not romance, it is being good friend, a good comrade and later, killing zeke became way more than a promise to Erwin, it became due to Hange's theory to stop the rumble which was only remembered and trusted by Levi so it wasn't about the weird obsession Eruris have with Levi's promise, there are more important reasons for doing that which made it a must like stopping the rumble. The romantic or a bit intimate gestures can only be found in Levi's and Hange's art like the last released one but for Levi and Erwin, seeing them romantically is just forcing your interpretation on two comrades drinking for example together. You guys depend on the final battle in sheganshina as your reason, Levihan started from Levi's day one until the very end, full chapters confirm that not one and not number of misinterpreted actions. you have the smart pass, you have Ch.126, you have Ch132, you have Ch.139 where the plane reminds Levi with the one who eventually mattered most to him, Hange Zoe and how she was the most highlighted one of all the comrades including Erwin in the final scene...Real evidences here not misinterpretation or second guessing, Hange easily stood out and that was through Levi's eyes. To sum up, I consider Levi and Erwin friends, comrades not lovers, not by any chance and if there is a love interest for Levi, Hange is way closer and more logical than all the other options which mainly depended on assumptions and misinterpretation. The quotes you have used aren't implying any romance, not in the panels, not in their facial features (blushing for example which is a known code in AOT for romance) not in the anime, not in the voice acting, they were all passed as comrades talking about each other and to each other.
You said you love Hange, great, don't crop her out next time please. If some levihans used the same methods Eruris use, don't blame them, blame the ones who started with disrespecting Hange first and yet again that doesn't justify what you did. As a levihan stan, I will never disrespect Erwin but Erwin's arc ended with his death, Hange is the one doing and acting in the last Arc, Hange is the one all of them are saved by her sacrifice and intelligence, every victory they had was due to her leadership not just a promise, a memory or revenge. You should stop pushing Erwin everywhere, Levi never thought of Erwin alone (Hange has great presence appearing in every memory of Erwin by the way), it was always the fallen comrades not fallen Erwin unlike Hange whom he thought of alone in the final panel and this is not negotiable.
If you are convinced with what you ship, fine but don't disrespect and remove one of the most important people in the story and literally the real reason for how everything ended how it did. This will be my final interaction about the whole thing, whether anyone responds or not, that's all I have to say and won't change it. @leviackerman-666 @randomlonelymusician I don't mean to be rude yes, Levi and Erwin are canon as friends and comrades not as lovers at least to me but there you see how Hange is treated and why Eruri shippers have their infamous reputation

For the ship game: prime numbers for Lupin x Jigen!
HERE YOU GO GHOST, THIS WAS FIVE PAGES IN A GOOGLE DOC AND TOOK ME SEVERAL HOURS
Under a cut, allegedly, though mobile has been known to just IGNORE THAT. Sorry in advance if this gets goofed for anyone.
2) Who is always horny and will have sex at any time, in any place?
Lupin, obviously (and canonically). Just the horniest man you ever did see. Jigen knows what he wants and when he wants it, but he has difficulty keeping up with Don Juan Triumphant over there. Lupin is also far less picky about locations and times than Jigen is. Jigen still has a FEW standards, thank you, and also a stronger sense of self-preservation. Lupin sometimes tries to start shit in public or during a heist and Jigen is like “I REALLY, REALLY APPRECIATE THE SENTIMENT BUT CAN WE NOT.” The closest to public anything Jigen will put up with is bar bathroom/back-alley hookups, and he doesn’t really tend to do that with Lupin or Goemon since they have secondary locations far more suited to such activity (or at least the damn Fiat, if nothing else). That said, Jigen is a spiteful bastard and gets a huge kick out of riling Lupin up over the walkie-talkie during jobs. He is more than happy to get jumped by his boss after they make it out and secure the loot.
3) Who is more into taking showers/baths together? Who tries to make it relaxing and who tries to make it sexy time?
Honestly, while I can totally see Lupin and Jigen doing this with their other partners, I have a harder time imagining the two of them doing this together and I’m not sure why. I feel like these two on their own both like the privacy bathing gives them, whether it’s to clean wounds or decompress from a job.
On the occasions when they do bathe together, I feel like it’s an unspoken kind of thing, where the other person quietly slips in the tub/shower with them and they just don’t bother protesting. I think Lupin is more likely to join Jigen in his bathing, but if Jigen is sleepy enough or lonely enough he might do the same. There is a lot of mutual appreciation of scars. They’ve definitely smoked in the tub before (Intricate Rituals™). Lupin is probably more likely to get handsy, because Lupin, but two can play that game if Jigen is feeling it, and also Jigen gives Lupin a run for his money in the staring department. No hat to hide behind now.
Lupin has also 100% done the whole “Hey Jigen, do you know if—stop screaming, it’s me—do you know if we have any more instant dashi? Goemon’s gonna slice up the sofa if I ruin soba night again.”
5) Who sleeps on the couch when they get into a fight?
Jigen, but to be fair, he canonically sleeps on the couch most nights (possibly to keep an eye on the door, possibly because he knows that place, at least, is always “acceptable” for him to occupy). It’s an odd night if you don’t see Jigen out there with a glass and a bottle of scotch and an old movie on TV. The main difference is that if he and Lupin have been fighting, he won’t bother with the formality of a glass and the TV will be playing far louder or not at all.
7) [A] Who said “I love you” first? And [B] who ends their arguments in a fight with “Because I love you”?
I hate to take the coward’s way out here, but I think the answers are A) either one - depends on the headcanon/fic/version of the characters I’m feeling that day, and B) both.
For A, they’re both the sort of people to show their love—true love/affection, not just flirtation/infatuation, LUPIN—in action, not words. Lupin is a man of many words to a fault, generous with his verbal and physical affection, so Lupin has to find a way to make sure Jigen knows he means it and how he means it. He may rightly fear that Jigen won’t believe him (or else believe him but take it platonically) if he says “I love you” to his face, so first he’ll show him through every little action he can. Jigen is a man of few words to a fault, so saying personal stuff like that out loud is both a last resort and the point of no return. Getting him to say it at all, unambiguously, and while sober is like pulling teeth. Once one of them finally spits it out, though, I think the other is quick to reciprocate (again, if they manage to say it clearly and under good circumstances and not ambiguously/while drunk or wounded/etc. They’re both idiots and selective cowards so this is a big if). The mutual relief is palpable and immediately followed by sex, because they’re both (horny) idiots and selective cowards who do not want to talk about Emotions and Personal Things any more than strictly necessary.
For B, ohhhh man, if it isn’t that same emotional avoidance coming to bite them in the asses! Looks like talking about deep emotions is strictly necessary after all! You know it’s a Big Important Argument for them if this is what it comes to. This is going to tie in somewhat to the answers for 11, 17, and 23, so stay tuned. “Because I love you” coming from either of them should give the other pause, but if they are angry enough, they’re both quite likely to storm off after that declaration anyway. They’ll come back and have a real discussion later, but the shock or frustration of that arresting declaration dropped in the middle of an argument is something neither of them are great at dealing with. Hearing that from Jigen might be enough to stop Lupin in his tracks, but Lupin might also be so dead-set on something that he’ll steamroll right over it even if he knows he’ll regret it later. Hearing that from Lupin probably only makes Jigen angrier because of his awful self-esteem (see answers 11 and 23), and even if he’s been working on that, his instinct will be to snarl “Yeah, right” and storm out the door. I like to think that one day they are able to get to the heart of the argument sooner (because this is almost always it) and work on the behaviors that worry the other so much, but alas, they are a mess.
11) Who makes fun of the other for having a crush on them, and who has to remind them that they are in a relationship?
Once again, either of them depending on the day.
As you mentioned in your JiGoe post, Jigen says it partly because he thinks it’s funny (“You have a crush on me, Boss? Fuckin’ embarrassing”) but also because he’s fishing for validation. His self-esteem/confidence in anything outside his shooting skills is shit and he still can’t quite believe that Lupin isn’t lying/he hasn’t conned Lupin into something. This is rather overestimating his conning skills and underestimating his many good qualities, but, well, genuine, lasting affection is kinda new for him. Much to Jigen’s annoyance, Lupin figures out exactly what Jigen’s up to after the first few times and answers him seriously (and positively) instead of continuing the “joke”. Lupin loses patience for this particular tactic over time but I like to think that Jigen finally begins believing in the affection, too, so it comes up less and less and one day Jigen might actually play the quip straight without the self-deprecation. Ideally he would just take the damn compliment, but it’s LupJig and banter is one of their love languages.
When Lupin says it, he typically is playing the quip straight and fondly giving Jigen shit for showing an Emotion and motherFUCKER I just realized Jigen could probably be considered a tsundere. I hate this. ANYWAY. Jigen then immediately snarks back that yes, Lupin, considering we’ve been travelling the world together and actively fucking for X years, it’d be damn awkward if I didn’t by now.
13) Who initiates duets? and who is the better singer?
Lupin absolutely initiates duets, or rather, he tries to; whether or not Jigen actually chimes in is another matter entirely. Lupin is also the better singer by far (when he’s sober). He loves singing along to pop and rock in the car (“This is the reason God invented America!”).
Much as it would please me personally to give Jigen a smooth operatic baritone, there’s no way in hell he sounds good after smoking a pack a day for twenty-something years. I think Jigen can carry a tune and he’s a decent hummer and whistler, but his singing voice isn’t spectacular.
Lupin occasionally succeeds in getting Jigen to join him in car karaoke, though as in all things, Lupin is much louder and more impassioned. Jigen frequently hums along under his breath, though, and Lupin loves hearing Jigen’s a cappella renditions of classical music (complete with hand motions).
When Queen starts becoming popular, car singalongs become much more involved because it’s MY silly headcanon and You Are Not Immune To Queen. Jigen cried the first time he heard “Bohemian Rhapsody” and he will kill Lupin if he ever tells Goemon or, God forbid, Fujiko. When the four of them are in the car it’s a full-on Wayne’s World headbanging party. (Pops is the drunk guy they pick up along the way. Also, seeing Payless Shoe Source in this clip dealt me psychic damage.)
Lupin and Jigen (and Goemon) are the living embodiment of the drunk friends singing “Sweet Caroline” post, and Jigen is specifically this version of “Sweet Caroline”.
17) Who is more protective?
THAT IS THE QUESTION, HUH, GHOST? Jigen’s job and, to a certain degree, raison d’être is protecting Lupin, but (to cheat slightly and quote your own DM to me), if you think Lupin won’t raze everything to the ground to keep Jigen (and the others) safe, you don’t know him at all. They are this meme to the deepest of faults. They are both so desperately afraid of losing what they have (and in Lupin’s case, this is tinged with a bonus, even more concerning “what is his”) that they will go full self-sacrificing, scorched-earth policy. This is, in fact, my favorite reason for Lupin to do the worst thing he does: fake his own death to protect his partners. Lupin never stops to think that maybe, JUST MAYBE, he should trust his partners to fake grief and keep the secret long enough for whoever’s on their tail to give up or let their guard slip. Lupin is willing to hurt them in an effort to protect them, so in that way, I suppose Lupin is the “most” “protective”. Jigen’s self-abasement to the point of unhesitating and perhaps even hasty sacrifice is painful, too, but Jigen would never dare go to the same level of deception (except in Goodbye, Partner, apparently? But 1) I haven’t watched it yet and 2) while awful, I still feel like fake betrayal pales in comparison to very convincingly (AND MAYBE REPEATEDLY) faked death).
19) Who drives and who has the window seat?
They split driving duties, but Lupin genuinely loves driving and Jigen is more than happy to prop his feet on the Fiat’s dashboard and smoke or sleep the hours away.
23) Who thinks they are not good enough for the other’s love? and who’s more afraid of losing the other? Who thinks they keep messing up, only for the other to tell them they don’t need to worry?
HERE WE GO AGAIN!!! I think the answer to all of these is ultimately Jigen, but that’s not to say Lupin doesn’t share the exact same worries.
Jigen has a very difficult time believing that his partners’ love is genuine, and since Lupin is the one he knew first, that’s where it first manifests. Jigen has had very, very few good romantic connections in his life (if any). He doesn’t know what Lupin could possibly see in an older, prickly hired killer with a drinking problem and a head full of demons. He’s willing to believe that Lupin keeps him around for his skills, for protection, and for sex, sure, but anything past that? Doubtful. This ties into the other two parts of the question: Jigen is afraid that if he fails in his sharpshooting or his protection, he will be cut out of the gang, or worse, Lupin will end up dead because Jigen slipped up. As mentioned in question 17, Jigen cannot bear to lose Lupin and he would never forgive himself if he believed it was somehow his fault. Accordingly, Jigen takes “failure” that exceeds his usual margin of error very seriously in the early days. Later, he is better about this, but the worst-case scenario still stands.
Lupin, on the other hand, has had plenty of romantic connections, some good, some bad, though it is perhaps telling that Fujiko is his longest romantic relationship other than Jigen. He is afraid that if he doesn’t put on the world’s greatest show at all times, no one will give a rat’s ass about some scrawny grandson of an old French thief (or the perhaps unwanted/disliked son of a ruthless crime lord, because I love that fanon for Lupin the Second). He must live up to and indeed surpass the previous Lupins, he must shower his partners in money and adventure, he must always, always come out on top no matter how south the plan goes, or else what is the point of him? It takes time for him to turn his persona off for more than a few seconds, to let the quieter, sometimes contemplative side that slips through the cracks come to rest out in the open. Years down the road, Jigen finally gets up the courage and the words to tell Lupin that he would love him no matter what he did or where he went, even if that was nothing and nowhere. And again, see question 17 re: losing Jigen.
29) Who does some crazy stunt to try and impress the other and who ends up driving them to the emergency room after it backfires?
Lupin is by far the most guilty of this. He’s constantly pulling dumb shit, whether that be for World-Renowned Gentleman Thief reasons or just He May Be Stupid reasons. Case in point: the tunnel scene in The First, after which Jigen was duly impressed. Fortunately for Lupin, Lady Luck must be head over heels for him because the bastard keeps surviving, but sometimes even she can’t save him from medical consequences. Jigen bulk-ordered “Stupid Hurts” band-aids specifically for Lupin. Jigen’s bad choices are more likely to literally backfire on him, but Goemon more than makes up for Jigen’s slack in the Crazy Stunt department.

Because Kubo did not give a lot in the way of romance, when do you say Ichigo started having feelings towards Orihime personally? I would like to know your thoughts and HCs on his feelings (sorry if my English is poor, it's not my first language)
Your English is fine, please don’t apologize! This is a good question and I’m not above saying I’ve thought about Ichigo + romantic feelings in general, not only towards the ships I like, but just as a whole. I like a lot of ships that aren’t canon but I also think there’s a different kind of fun in examining how the OG author writes a pairing, and since IchiOri is canon as of(...how many years now?), we can do just that!
From what I’ve seen, the general IH community consensus seems to be that he developed proper feelings for her in the HM arc, maybe moderately developed a teeny lil crush on her as early as the end of SS arc.
While I think that’s cute, it’s not...necessarily my perspective on it. I think Ichigo unconsciously starts Having Feelings when we’re well into the Fullbring Arc. There’s this general pattern I’ve seen in many fandoms where Friends-to-Lovers isn’t considered “valid” unless both characters have feelings at Full Force 100% from the beginning but are in denial about it. While that is possible, it’s more common/realistic for a person who sees someone as a friend for most of their life to start seeing them a little differently when they begin to grow older together. I mean, given how Kubo himself claims he isn’t a great romance writer and that his pinnacle of romantic writing was Orihime’s confession, I’m surprised at how believably he wrote Orihime and Ichigo’s development. Ichigo is a teenager for 99.9% of the series, 90% of which he’s so used to plunging headfirst into fighting/saving the day that he doesn’t really have the time to process anything...not just romance. This is common in shonen as a genre, where the protagonist spends a lot of time wrapped up in wider Plot Events and training that we hardly get to see him do normal things like having a hobby, reflecting on life’s greater questions, falling in love, etc etc.
Coming back to Headcanon Territory. A part of the reason why I think his feelings don’t develop until much later is because of the reasons above. He simply doesn’t have the time to think. He just does. Why did the promise he made to Orihime be the one thing that anchored him to life, even in death? It just did. He did it because he had no other choice but to not die, simply because Orihime asked him not to. He must have reflected on it at some point--during the timeskip, at the very least, but I think he brushes it off as insignificant mainly because a) now is not the time and b) a part of his failure to see Orihime’s feelings for him is denial. Of course Orihime cares about him, she cares about everyone. Of course he kept his word and protected her; protecting people is important to him. These defense mechanisms and cover-ups are easy to fall back into as justifications, not because they’re lies but because they’re the truth. Both those things are true. And therefore, he doesn’t have to look deeper into those feelings, giving them the perfect opportunity to sneak up on him later, towards the end of the series.
I don’t want to be too critical of TYBW because of Kubo’s health and Bleach’s (?) cancellation, but some of the parts I genuinely did enjoy were the IchiOri parts. I am sure, about halfway through this arc, Ichigo goes “Do I like Inoue?” to himself and it’s an earth-shattering epiphany that he shoves to the far corner of his mind because they’re in the middle of a war. I would hazard a guess that this revelation comes after Urahara, Yoruichi and Chad teased him about her, mainly because Ichigo isn’t stupid-- he knows how to read a room and he especially knows how to read a room when every single person in it is rather explicitly implying the same thing. I wish Kubo hadn’t done the Dress thing, though, because it’s such a disservice to Orihime and it gave everyone on Tumblr dot com a free pass to slutshame her and take a giant dump on what was obviously intended to be a cute moment. Imagine if everyone had teased him after the Gentle Head Cradling incident. He would’ve never lived it down, and it would have played out exactly like it did in canon.
Tumblr media
Kubo mentioned in a recent interview that he doesn’t like to be too overt in his writing because he enjoys when people read between the lines and I think that’s why we don’t get a proper confession, a kiss, or even a hug on screen. Some people might call it lazy, but I like it. I think it’s apt for a character like Ichigo. Scenes like this, where Ichigo is deeply aware of Orihime’s feelings regardless of what’s going on around them, are indicative of how he puts her first--no matter how trivial the reason. Ichigo is not a character who is overly affectionate or expressive, so the ways he does express his feelings are subtle. It’s 90% in his body language, which is something you pick up on, rather than have the author hand it to you and say, “Hey, look at how this guy cares about her.” I don’t need to see Ichigo say it when I’ve seen at least four arcs worth of Ichigo’s general love language to know what he’s like.
In the same arc, we see Ichigo, for the first time ever, ask Orihime to protect him. If you’d been keeping up with the manga for a long time, you’d know that’s a huge deal, given Ichigo’s history with letting himself be vulnerable enough to ask for help + Orihime’s struggles with her weakness + Ichigo’s unwillingness to see Orihime hurt. The first person Ichigo explicitly says “I’m trusting you to protect me” is Orihime, which is not something that would have happened in the Hueco Mundo or Soul Society arc and goes to show that they are not the same people they were when they met. Which is a good thing. Love takes so much vulnerability, especially for Ichigo, who has been hurt before. For him to put his guard down, meet her in the middle and say “protect me” in a battle against the man that killed his mother--it’s a lot. And I’m honestly so proud of him for learning to share the responsibility and lean on everyone, not just Orihime, but I mainly bring this scene up because again, how often do we see Ichigo asking someone to protect him? Imagine if Ichigo had cupped Orihime’s face and told her he loved her before going into battle. You could have replaced Orihime with anyone else you see fit, and the moment would still be ship-py. What makes the moment we got in canon so special is because it is an exclusively Ichigo and Orihime moment. Had it involved any other two characters, it would not have been as special because they simply would not have the precise history that that moment was a direct callback to. Kubo even makes it a point to show us flashbacks. Those were better narrative decisions to me than any traditional romance writing would have been because it’s an IchiOri moment that can’t be corrupted, retconned or replaced with other pairings even though people have tried. It just doesn’t have the impact it did in canon, which is what makes it good romantic writing.
TLDR: Unconsciously, in the FB arc. Consciously, towards the end of the TYBW arc, but he doesn’t ask her out for at least another 3-4 years because Teen Angst.

My thoughts on AOT No Requiem (Fanmade Ending) Part 1:
With another chapter of this story coming out soon, I thought now would be a good time to share my thoughts on the first part. Before I do that, though, I have a few things that I would like to get off my chest.
A part of me hates that this project exists. Not because I find it disrespectful, but because it serves as a bitter reminder of what a complete mess this ending caused among many fans. I'm still in disbelief how things got so bad so quickly. First, you've got the people who hated it. People began turning on Isayama and calling him a terrible or incompetent writer, regretting ever getting into the series, insisting that it was worse than Game of Thrones, the list goes on and on. People who liked the ending are now endlessly referred to as "ending defenders" or more crude names like "Isayama cockriders," as though they're a bunch of incompetent fools who don't know the first thing about reading comprehension all because they just happened to like it. And then of course you've got the other extreme end of the spectrum where the ones who were disappointed are accused of not understanding the story or they're only upset because their favorite ship or fan theory didn't become canon. This, too, is very demeaning and invalidating for those who grew up with this series that they gave their heart to and cherished for so long, only to have it do what they felt was a complete 180 at the very last second that undid every part of the story they thought was special and unique. It's one of the hardest slaps to the face you can get as a reader and long-time fan, and while I can't fully relate to everyone's feelings, I can at least understand and acknowledge that it's there and it shouldn't be laughed at. Now with all of that out of the way, here are my thoughts and analysis of this fanmade ending and how it differs from Isayama's.
To start things off, I found that part 1 started off similar to how 137 did in the canon manga, with Armin and Zeke conversing in PATHS. The biggest difference would be kid Eren being transported there and seeing his older self. To be fair though, this chapter was only about half the length of what we're used to reading, so I'm sure we'll get a lot more in part 2 onwards.
While Zeke is enlightening Armin on the history of the earth and how the life form that attached itself to Ymir sought to avoid death forever, young Eren is in PATHS too with his older self, witnessing the moment Ymir found the tree and fell in it to become the first titan. At first, there is no dialogue exchanged between them. They just hold hands and watch. Meanwhile, Zeke is still talking to Armin about Ymir and how she continued to serve her oppressive master despite acquiring godlike powers that would allow her to obliterate him whenever she pleased. This is where the team working on this project attempt to provide their own alternate possibilities as to why this happened in a way that would make more sense than what we were given in the canon story in which she simply had a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome and couldn't let him go no matter how much he made her suffer.
Tumblr media
So what are these new possibilities? They come in the form of a question, so their validity is not made absolutely certain, but they're presented as the most likely candidates nonetheless.
Tumblr media
According to Zeke, she was unable to separate her own desires from King Fritz and was a lost girl who sought meaning. A place to belong. Tragically, King Fritz was the only connection she had in her life, so she clung to it with everything she had despite it being toxic and abusive. I could argue that these are the very reasons why she supposedly loved the king in the official manga, as explained by Eren in 139, but they weren't explained or touched on as plainly as they were here. I feel like they could have been if Isayama had just been given more time, but sadly the whole thing was rushed and underdeveloped.
Moving on, Zeke states that despite his efforts in trying to understand Ymir and her feelings, it was Eren who ultimately was able to get to her and offer her the choice of freedom. The next page transitions to young Eren standing in the clouds with his arms spread out and a smile on his face just like in the official 137, only this time 19yo Eren is next to him. Now I'm going to be honest here, this is where things started to get a little corny for me. Yeah. I know a lot of people hate that argument, but that's just how it felt to me. And before I say anything else, I want everybody to know that I am in no way about to mock anyone's fondness of this Eren over the one we saw in 139, even if it was a little over-the-top. It's perfectly fine to prefer one over the other, I'm just going to try to explain myself the best I can without coming across as harsh or unprofessional.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eren is drawn in these panels to be a stone-faced, determined and unstoppable force who will "keep moving forward until his enemies are destroyed." This is the Eren that many people grew most familiar with throughout the series, despite his occasional breakdowns, but something about the way it was executed just felt a little too overdramatic and exaggerated. For me, the contrast between this Eren and the Eren we were presented with in 139 is too jarring. It came across to me as the fandom's idealized version of Eren, the "chad" Eren if you will, rather than Isayama's portrayal of Eren who is cold and determined, but has also been experiencing stunted mental growth ever since the day he saw his mother get eaten; side note: I know that Eren himself was responsible for his mother's death, but that's a discussion for a later time. Not only that, but the "keep moving forward" line starts to get overused at this point. We already heard Eren say this a number of times before 137 where this first fanmade chapter takes place, so I didn't find it necessary to include that at the end, but it seemed to be the writers' way of trying to reinforce Eren's ultimate goal.
Regarding the rest of the chapter, young Eren asks older Eren what Ymir is still waiting for after he showed her that she's not alone. 19yo Eren proceeds to explain that while he was able to make her feel something again, she still needs somebody to free her. He shows his younger self all of the visions from PATHS that he's seen so far, ranging from past events to alternate realities to things that couldn't be changed no matter what. Now there is only one path left that he strives toward. The one that he believes will grant him and his people freedom. This next line is the one that stood out to me the most throughout this fanmade chapter. Still talking to kid Eren, adult Eren says, "When you wake up, you will forget what you learned, but not what you felt here. This will all feel just like a long dream." Only when he kisses Historia's hand will it all come back to him. This line more clearly explains why Eren woke up crying in chapter 1, but couldn't remember why. Then he circles back to how he intends to carry out his own plan to end the cycle of hatred once and for all. Despite his efforts along the way, he couldn't change the flow of PATHS and save the friends he lost or prevent certain events from happening altogether, so he had to accept that sacrifices had to be made. In this case, he will have to literally sacrifice the world, much to Armin's horror.
To wrap this up, I'm going to finish comparing this to the canon 137, but since the first part of this project only covers the PATHS portion of it, that's where I'll stop as well. To save a little but of time, I'm just gonna be lazy and copy the first part of a quick overview of the chapter I found as part of the wiki:
Tumblr media
So clearly, canon 137 starts off focusing a lot more on Armin and Zeke's differing philosophies and does not provide any further insight into Eren's ultimate motives like this one does, at least not yet. Armin and Eren are bound to face off soon in this fanmade version, but it looks to me like this time the writers are planning on flipping the outcome and having Eren come out victorious instead, especially when I remember the name of this project and what it's based on. I guess that means that in a way, I already know what's ultimately going to happen throughout the rest of this project. Whether it's going to be considered superior to the actual ending is going to depend on if its executed properly. I could very well be wrong about some of this, though. I want to give it a fair shot since these people have clearly put a lot of hard work and passion into this, so I will refrain from further judgement until we get the full picture. On a side note, I just want to say that the artwork is beautiful so far and I commend every artist responsible for their efforts. I also liked the song choice at the beginning and thought it set the mood pretty well.
Thank you to everyone who read the whole thing. This took me far longer to write than it should have because I'm not always good at expressing myself in a way that does not come across as confusing or contradictory. I will continue to share my thoughts as more content is released, which by the looks of it could be any day now.

3-E + KARASUNO + 1-A FRIENDSHIP GROUPS
Just a heads up that I don't really know that much about BNHA. Most of my knowledge comes from fanfics, tumblr posts and my bestie so some of these headcanons might be a bit OOC
Nagisa + Hinata + Midoriya
So I’ve already made posts about Nagisa, Hinata and Mido being the ultimate cinnamon roll trio who are the loves of my life, my sons and if anything happens to them I will kill everyone and then myself
Let me adopt them, please let me adopt them
I mean it is canon that Mama Midoriya is single right?...jk jk ... unless 👀
These precious babies are literally the sweetest guys ever and everyone’s ultimate hype men
They have their own protection squads and at least five people who have a crush on them (these bois be making people question their sexuality like it’s a past time)
They can also turn feral at any given moment and revert back to normal in a second
They act like its no big deal but they have legit traumatised people before
I know that Nagisa and Midoriya are ✨ notebook buddies ✨ but I like to think that Hinata keeps a volleyball journal like Kageyama (like the adorable boyfriend he is) and shows it off proudly to them and Nagisa and Mido are so proud of their tangerine bestie and they teach him how to make notes and analyse like they do and are just so pure (ILOVETHEMSOMUCHYOUHAVENOIDEA)
It’s a legit hazard to have them in the same place because the intensity of the combined smiles of a baby sunshine crow, baby sunshine snake and baby sunshine bunny can wipe out anyone in a 10 km radius
But what a way to go, am I right?
Also, I’m adding Yamaguchi here because he’s a sweetie who can and will end someone if they try to mess with Tsukki the people he cares about
Do not under any circumstances try to mess with the trio that is Nagi, Yama and Mido because they know all of your secrets and are not afraid to use that to their benefit
 Isogai + Daichi + Iida
Did you mean: Dad Friends
Someone help them
It aint easy being a teen parent but they make it work
Also I’m a total simp for all three of them like Iida is everything I want IDKY I’m not saying its the glasses but its totally the glasses
Can and will do the disappointed dad stare. It is effective.
These three meet up to despair about their schoolmates and within five minutes one (or all) of them is getting a phone call because someone needs to be bailed out of jail
Isogai and Iida are class rep goals just saying
They love their classmates but why are they like this
Daichi: *watching Noya and Tanaka egg on the Terasaka gang to let them connect sleds on Yoshida’s motorbikes and go speed racing down the mountain* I ask myself that everyday
Just...someone give them a vacation and some aspirin because they need it
But not for too long because they are the few responsible ones
Midoriya: *mumbling* That’s funny considering that Iida tried to murder someone in cold blood
1-A members not aware of the Hosu Incident (so basically everyone except for Mido, Todo and Glasses Sonic): WHAT?!
Karma: Really? That’s weird. Nagisa tried to do that as well
3-E members that didn’t confront Takaoka: WAIT WHAT?!
Karasuno: *paling* who the f*ck are these people…
 Fuwa + Nakamura + Kiyoko + Ashido + Aoyama
The ultimate shippers
Listen, look me in the eyes and tell me that Shimizu Kiyoko doesn’t ship her team and that she does not have a group chat with all of the other managers where they gossip about who’s dating who. Look me right in the eyes and tell me that does not happen.
These people know all of the gossip
Well actually Nagisa knows all of the tea in 3-E but Fuwa is a close second
Ultimate wingpeople
 Kataoka + Ennoshita + Momo
I don’t want to say mum friend but they are the most responsible ones if Isogai, Daichi and Iida aren’t around
They are beings to be feared, you dont wanna cross them
There was once a time when all three of them are angered and everyone still has emotional scars to this day
The only ones who can control the chaos
Can also smack talk people like a pro
Have soft spots for the cinnamon rolls
Just imagine the three of them sitting around one of those circular umbrella tables outside of a cafe wearing matching sunglasses and drinking smoothies out of a straw as they judge everyone
 Kimura + Hinata + Kageyama + Kirishima
GYM BUDDIES
Listen, there are athletes and there are athletes™
These boys are the latter
They race all of the time
I’m not kidding
Everything is a race
Arm wrestles galore
 Hazama + Tsukishima + Tokoyami
Masters of snark
Looks like they can kill you, can actually kill you
Hang out with each other to get away from the stupidity of everyone around them
Hazama and Tokoyami are just chillin’ talking about demonic sacrifice and Tsukki’s like ‘you guys are more tolerable than the feral children I’ll stay here’
Literally have no cares at all
If you approach them they will make you cry
 Chiba + Hayami + Kageyama + Todoroki
The chill kids
All they do is vibe in the background
They’re entire friendship is just *blank stare* *eye contact* *small nod*
And you know what? That’s valid
Are also totally willing to hide a body 24/7
Todo convinces the other three that his theories are legit
Terasaka Squad + Nishinoya + Tanaka + Bakusquad
CHAOS
That is it
Do I need to go on?
 Kurahashi + Kouda
Soft bbys
Would die for them
Go on bug hunting expeditions
Hang out at petting zoos
Kurahashi has fallen in love with Kouda's bunnies as she should
Are proud parents of every single furry and crawlie critter on the E-Class mountain
Dont worry Nagisa gets to keep his snakes
Go to pet stores and animal shelters
pure cinnamon rolls
 Maehara + Tanaka + Nishinoya + Kaminari
Best hype men
Praise each other like no other
Maehara and Calamari keep on getting annoyed because everyone keeps on pretending to not be able to tell the two apart
They can it's just that it's fun to mess with them
 Karasuma + Ukai + Aizawa
The ‘I came here determined not to get attached and now I’ve adopted a gang of teenagers’
Are literally one second away from becoming alcoholics
Are constantly ready to ‘subtly’ brag about how their students are improving in training
Karasuma and Aizawa go over sparring procedures and Ukai is just like ‘your students have WEAPONS?!?’
Tsundere but parents
Best Dads
They love their kids
But dont tell anyone that
It’s okay they know anyway
Will deck anyone that hurts their chaos children in any way
 Koro-Sensei + Takeda + Yagi
PROUD PAPAS
THEY LOVE THEIR KIDS SO MUCH
THEY CAN SPEND 1284720 HOURS BRAGGING ABOUT HOW AWESOME THEIR KIDS STUDENTS ARE
HAVE WALLETS WITH THEIR PHOTOS IN THEM Yagi’s is just 20+ pictures of Midoriya but shhhh
*Todoroki’s conspiracy theory senses tingle*
They could be at the groceries but they’ll still find a way to brag about their kids

Can we get a break? Like once? Does context mean nothing here? All this to peddle a ship that will never be canon. Nor did the MCU tease it. Actors going along with it or supporting it isn’t the same as the MCU saying it’s canon. We saw what happened when Anthony Mackie shut down S*mB*cky. And the only reason I’m annoyed is because they always do this shit with steggy content and misogyny eventually creeps in. 😒 or is blatant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And let’s be clear: something having the same beats doesn’t mean the subtext is similar. A prime example of this is eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. There is a date, I know, I know, a romantic thing, that late winslets character was so enamored with when she was on a date with him Carrey’s character. However, when elijah woods character took her out on the same exact date, there was no spark.
That’s to say that just bc Peggy and Steve shared a drink just like Steve and Bucky didn’t doesn’t make the context the same.
In captain America, Peggy comes in visits Steve at the bar and the context is clearly romantic. They’re eye fucking each other. Despite working together, they weren’t on the battlefield together in that way. But Steve’s talk with Bucky was never played as romantic, the furthest thing from it.
In captain Carter, she and Steve were literally fighting side by side and were actually partners. The bar scene plays out differently because context already established they were romantically interested in one another before they had drinks. Peggy literally trains in the same room Steve rehabs in. She could train anywhere, but she chooses to be next to Steve.
Bucky fought alongside Steve, but it was never to the same degree as Peggy and Steve in captain Carter. Bucky was a howling commando who was also Steve’s best friend. In this case, steve as hydra stomper was more involved than anyone else when it came to captain Carter. We see them work together and coordinate battlefield strategy as they actively fought.
So when we get to the bar scene, it’s not the same beat as Bucky and Steve. We see that Steve and Peggy were already romantically interested in one another prior to that point (like in captain America), their bond strengthened due to the switched serum participate (their feelings and the values), and they worked together intimately in a way Steve and Bucky hadn’t.
Their context being romantic doesn’t make Steve and Bucky’s bar chat romantic or mean that it was to begin with.
Peggy and buckys roles in Steve’s life, their influence on him, and how he feels about them isn’t interchangeable. Despite caring about Steve, Bucky wasn’t supportive of Steve’s desire to be in the army. He didn’t get it. People may say it’s because Steve was sickly or whatever, but Bucky gave the impression that he would switch places with Steve if he could. I’ll need a refresher on that part, but he seem sympathetic to Steve’s sadness just not why he wanted to fight.
Where as Peggy didn’t underestimate Steve due to his size and health issues. She thought he was a value asset to the army and defended him pre serum. When Steve feels bad about himself for being the army’s mascot, she reminded him why he joined the army and talked sense into him.
It took Steve taking the serum and saving Bucky for Bucky to appreciate the heart the scrawny kid from Brooklyn had regarding fighting for others. Peggy realized that from the start.
When you flip Peggy and Bucky, the context changes because they aren’t the same person.
Even Steve’s role in captain carter is different. People say he played the Bucky role, but the thing is: Steve and Peggy ALWAYS believed in one another pre serum. Their support was never contingent on enhanced abilities.
Steve calling attention to captain Carter is different than Bucky doing it with Steve. Steve always believed in Peggy and he’s further supporting her and having others support her, especially bc she deals with sexism. Bucky is calling attention to Steve bc he’s appreciative, but he’s also truly valuing Steve’s heart for the first time when it comes to fighting for others. Steve wasn’t brave bc he was stronger, he’d always been brave and bucky was finally giving credit to that and wanted Steve to be valued by others in that moment.
There is nothing romantic about someone who’s you’re best friend and has known you for most of their lives realizing that your heart and determination are strengths. But there is something romantic about a person listening to you and seeing you for who you are and further validating these aspects of you. Someone who wants others to see what they’ve always admired about you.
Like Steve and Peggy were so enamored with each other. They got each other and some ppl just can’t deal with that and always have to bring it back to Bucky.
I don’t care that ppl ship Steve and Bucky, but please leave steggy out of it. Please stop ignoring context and pretending everything is interchangeable about these repurposed scenes when it isn’t.
Context is key.
But I’m not surprised considering how these same group of people (those who live to downplay and/or shit on steggy) love to obsess over “subtext” all while ignoring context to prove Stucky was being teased or set up. Yet when you prove the same for steggy, every excuse in the book is used for how it’s not the same. 😒 or as good. 🙄
Lastly, Steve and Bucky would still be friends, but they wouldn’t be growing old together in that way. If the beats of what if continue to be similar to the infinity saga. 😌

THEM:  hi! thanks for the answers I really appreciate the discussion. normally if someone ships something I don’t like or something like that, I’ll just leave them alone but.. just to be clear I completely respect all of your opinions, even agree with some of them, even if we might disagree on the incest and Castiel haha. So I don’t mean any disrespect with this at all, please let me know if I’m out of line though!
But... I saw some things you said, and they come across to me in a way that I don’t think you intended? I feel really awkward sending this haha, you’re very nice and I don’t think you said anything on purpose, but I just.. wanted to let you know that some of the things regarding your opinion on certain characters come across not very well? I don’t think it’s intentional or anything, and I don’t mean to call you out at all which is why I didn’t want to point it out in the replies y’know?
Don’t get me wrong though, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with not liking castiel or destiel. I’ve been watching the show for a while with my dad, and he isn’t a huge fan either, I don’t think that’s a problem :)
I’d continue without waiting for a response but I don’t want to say something you’ve already been told, or continue without knowing if I’ve said something out of line already 😅
ME:  I'm kind of distracted dealing with my Mom's rehab center. But you can keep going.
THEM: Alright! I’ve tried rephrasing this a million times but I don’t know how to make it seem not antagonistic. I promise I don’t mean that you’re doing it intentionally, it’s just, uh a lot of your criticism of spn feels like it could be read as homophobic? Again I don’t think YOU are I just wanted you to know it kind of reads that way!
That sounded so confrontational. I really don’t mean it that way 😭
ME: HOMOPHOBIC? Really? A lot of the 'proof' your fellow shippers use border on stereotypes but you think I'M homophobic? Considering my top two ships are Wincest and Malec. Yeah, sounds confrontational.
THEM:  I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I guess there’s no other way to say it, but I understand why you feel accused. What do you mean by proof..?
Also I don’t really think having gay ships means you can’t be homophobic. *I* used to be homophobic years ago, and I’m a gay person!
ME:  How old are you? https://nancylou444.tumblr.com/post/154098904136/a-guide-to-dean-winchesters-imaginary-bisexuality
THEM:  yeah this is starting to get frustrating. I’m gonna be real with you, why does it matter if people think dean is bisexual? like, bottom line, that is my question for you
and your answer will determine if your veracity is homophobic. why does it matter that some people think dean is bisexual. not the fans or actors or writers or anything. why does it matter that some viewers will watch, and they will think dean is bisexual?
ME:  My problem isn't that some people think he is bi IN FANON, my problem is that they want CONFIRMATION OF A FANON SHIP. And that some people DENY how the show ended. These same people think that fake weddings are more canon than the FINAL EPISODE.
THEM:  I get what you mean, but how is it a fanon ship when it’s confirmed romantic from one side, and interpretable as mutually reciprocated in Latin America? (I’m going to disregard the bit about the wedding, because I’m a firm believer in Neil Gaiman variety death of the author. Also that’s just people having fun with fanon, who cares?)
ME:  Confirmed romantic?By whom MISHA, who wanted to sell necklaces? Have you never said 'i love you' to a FRIEND or FAMILY member? The dub is not canon, so don't even try using that as proof. Death of the author is just another way of saying MY VIEW OF THE SHOW IS SUPERIOR TO HOW THE CREATOR WANTS TO SEE IT. Jensen has said many times that the ship isn't canon and that Dean is straight. But it's better to believe what Misha says because he agrees with you. You think somebody is bi because of how they sit or the color clothes they wear? That would make YOU homophobe.
THEM:  LOL You know what? I change my answer. I looked through your blog and you ACTIVELY and viscously hate Cas, Charlie, Claire, Kaia and the implication that Jack may not be straight. You’ve said Cas coming out as gay and in love with dean makes the rest of his actions predatory, compared him to a teenage girl, called him creepy, and openly rejoiced in your idea that dean looked ‘disgusted with him’. You said that Claire is awful, that Kaia is a wooden plank, that they ‘shoved them together’ for ‘woke points’ and said that Jody saying Claire was IN LOVE WITH Kaia ‘doesnt count’ and called it ‘lip service’. And it doesn’t end there! After all this, you said that you preferred the old better s4 Claire. Is it because she was ostensibly straight? Are you uncomfortable with queer women? And then you have the audacity to use these characters (Claire and Kaia and Charlie) as reasons to epicly own the Hellers and claim they already have represention. You are a completely disingenuous bitch and I don’t care to be nice to you anymore! I don’t feel AT ALL charitable toward you anymore, and I don’t care if you have gay ships. Gay people aren’t here for you to fetishize! You CONSTANTLY mock and ridicule jokes made by queer people regarding deans bisexuality or Cas being gay or any number of things. You constantly reaffirm that Dean is straight and call people who think otherwise delusional and disgusting, while you think dean is in romantic sexual love with his male sibling. You are openly hostile to the idea of non-binary jack and were pissed that Alcal endorsed that. You devalue Jack’s value and relationship to Cas who is, textually, his father figure. I have NO reason not to think that you are homophobic. I don’t care anymore! You’re a huge bitch and, judging by your prior responses and posts, a genuine dialogue regarding queerness in spn is impossible. You regard any instance of canonically queer moments ‘lip service’ and so regard it. You actively hate every canonically gay character and degrade them using traditionally homophobic tropes and stereotypes.
Feel free to explain how you aren’t homophobic. I’m so sorry if I got the wrong impression.
ME: Wow I see your true colors have come out HELLER.
THEM:  Idc if you think I’m mean. Go ahead and make a post about me lol, have fun with it. Give me a moment to respond to your paragraph it’s... a lot to dissect.
I’ll touch on your comments about the dub and the Spanish language in a moment. First though
I ’m gonna be real with you, I don’t think you know what death of the author is. Neil Gaiman’s variety of the dead author principal is that once canon ends, the story belongs to those that consume and engage with it. That’s... also literally the theme of supernaturals final season. Anyway I really recommend you read up on death of the author and Neil Gaiman’s takes on fanon. It’s a fun way to consume your media, and in the end that’s what I’m here for.
I don’t care what Misha says, and I don’t care what Jensen says! I think they are both queer because I have eyes and watched the show. I think it’s a lovely narrative that is supported by canon, and it’s fine if you disagree with that
On your last sentence there... lol. It’s a common joke in queer circles that gays can’t sit properly, specifically bisexuals. Same thing with the clothing, it’s a SUPER common joke for example that lesbians wear flannel. Maybe you need to go outside and talk to some normal, non-incest shipping queer people. But what do I know!
And finally... ‘the Spanish dub isnt canon’
I am literally cuban. My first language is SPANISH. my entire household speaks Spanish, and my family past 1st cousins don’t speak any English. My Boricua cousins have watched supernatural in full for years, and they watch it in Spanish. Do you think America is the center of the universe? Do you think our media is somehow less than yours, that our interpretations of English language media isn’t valid? What, do you think we are idiots who don’t know how to analyze literature and media? Do you think the people who work at Telemundo, people employed as dubbers and translators, you think they do a worse job than the American crew?
Why, because they aren’t American or don’t speak English? ‘Te amo’ said to a non family member is, in 99% of any instance, ROMANTIC. it’s something you say to your spouse in serious situations like weddings!! Even MARRIED people don’t normally say te amo, everyone uses te quiero unless it is very serious or romantic in context.
All of my family who are Spanish language, they heard dean say ‘y a yo ti, cas’ and think that they were in romantic love. Sorry dude! The United States might be the center of your universe, but Latin America is HUGE. Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the WORLD. In fact, more people speak Spanish than English. Sorry that you seem to hate gay characters SO MUCH you have to say an entire language somehow isn’t valid to consume media in!
ME:
Tumblr media
Obviously this heller is batshit crazy.
Some of those things she thinks I said just show she has no idea how to follow a tumblr thread.

Wow.

Where have I hated canon gay characters and degraded them using tropes and stereotypes? The bitch has me confused with HER FELLOW SHIPPERS.
Gotta love how she is defending the Spanish dub. Hit a nerve did I?

Now who is using stereotypes?
