wait I'm curious to see if there's any connection between multiple-gender attraction and multishipping.
Let's make a poll about it!
A few definitions:
Multishipper - for the purposes of this poll, someone who ships one character with multiple others, without these relationships crossing over. In other words, you ship A x B and also ship A x C.
Mspec - multiple-gender attraction spectrum
SGA - single-gender attraction
Aspec - asexuality/aromantism spectrum
Please reblog for sample size!

I'm not sure if you've mentioned this before so sry if you've alr answered this 😭 but sjnce the god key centers around two characters romantic relationship are the mcs going to be ace and romantic?
The main rep in The God Key is m/m. They're not ace in this particular novel for a number of different reasons (although the next novel I'm working on has ace rep and a female protagonist!).
I should warn that, while The God Key does revolve around the dynamic between Gabriel and Isaac, it's not like a nice romance story. They have romantic feelings towards each other. They care about each other. But it's a dark book. One of the main two (spoilers, but not really as its hinted in the blurb and covered very close to the start of the story) fakes a suicide for (actual spoiler if I detailed) reasons. As you can imagine, the fallout of that is heavy. It's not YA.
Anyway I love them. And if you like complicated villains and complex antagonist/protagonist dynamics like I usually do, I think (hope) you'll love the ones I have for you! But tread carefully <3

God. komaeda really was a great character huh. (plus, ramblings about my favorite 'character types' and queerness in DR in tags).
#ides.txt#sorry i've been watching anime clips for the last hour or so.#kirigiri's false death actually made me cry and kizakura's as well (i'd never watched that one).#i also saw the juzo scene which. i know this is likely a controversial take but let me say this.#i'm quite happy with the fact that despite the NUMEROUS writing faults and outright creepy/gratuitously dark#writing of DR; they really do include a lot of queer characters that are like. explicitly queer.#i just come from AA which while the writing is MUCH better there is only slight hints of a character being queer#herlock does 'costumes'. edgeworth and his damn feelings. klavier and 'my boyfriend is the prosecution's witness'#but in DR it's like actually this guy is just gay. and i do appreciate that.#there is obviously a degree of homophobic writing in the series but i think now that i'm older i see the like.#novelty of having characters as explicitly straight as other characters are explicitly queer.#anyway this all was about komaeda i was just. every day i loom treacherously close to just writing DR fic again.#i think i have certain character typings that i like.#one of them is characters who are distinctly along the rude-asshole spectrum (ranging from-#gina lestrade to apollo justice to hinata hajime to mondo owada etc.)#and then characters who are cunning and complex. i think a cunning character is the key to my heart.#klavier gavin. komaeda nagito. to an extent herlock but i haven't finished his game yet.#i think it's difficult because of all character traits that one is most likely to get brushed over in fanon.#i just wish i started writing fic when i was a little bit older so i could have understood that piece of him.#but as always i can't exactly blame myself for projecting undiagnosed mental illness on him#as i wasn't exactly ooc about it. i understand him (i barely understand him).

Hi! So awhile back, I saw someone else answer an ask on why they like Quinntana but not Pezberry, and it seems like the opposite for you, I think, romantically speaking, IIRC. If that’s the case, could you explain why you ship Pezberry and not Quinntana?
Hey Anon!
So I think there are a couple of different layers to this but I'll try to be straightforward. I guess I'm kinda weird when it comes to shipping lol but I think the case with Pezberry for me is that I see sexual chemistry there and could potentially see them romantically in an AU kinda situation. And really where I stand on shipping Pezberry exactly is a separate disclaimer post that I really ought to write so I can finally have somewhere to direct people to, but yeah.
For the purposes of this ask, I'll just say that I do ship Pezberry and not Quinntana, and that's a very good question why. I think... I think it boils down to Pezberry being my favourite overall dynamic in the show, along with Brittana, and that encompasses many dimensions. I adore Quinntana as well of course but it's just that specific thing that Pezberry have, the passion and 'awesome or not at all' of it all that I find extremely compelling. I suppose by the end they also had more screentime than Quinntana so, more to go off on. I just need Pezberry to be interacting so badly and I do see sexual and even romantic potential for them because of the kind of story they have and the way their interactions went.
To be clear, I guess I ship Quinntana to a certain degree as well. I think they should have been a season 4 midgame and they have excellent chemistry as well of course. Where they 'lose' me, so to say, is that I see their energy being overwhelmingly platonic, at the end of the day. Even if I do wish for that midgame, at the end of which they both realize their relationship is worth more than essentially using each other to work through stuff. I think they love each other very deeply, in a way that's as fascinating to me as Pezberry though different. I suppose it really is that lack of romantic potential that I, personally see, that makes me enjoy them as a short-term thing and looove them as friends, but not be as interested even in an AU situation. And don't get me wrong, I love fics for them; Quinntana fics always hit so hard, damn. I just don't see them being all that compatible, and I think a lot of that is how I view Quinn and Santana's narrative roles and how they're too similar to me in that sense. Which is again a different post and something I haven't yet touched on much, I don't think. So a worthy discussion for another day.
But yeah, I hope that's the kind of explanation you were looking for. My love for Pezberry is very much rooted in, just, their overall story and circumstances, and the shipping aspect comes in when I ponder a what could have been for them. To put it somewhat more simply, I could maybe see Pezberry making an actual relationship work, years down the line, and I can see them wanting to make it work. With Quinntana, they'll always be friends who, oh, also hooked up btw in my eyes. And you know, I think further investigating what makes the two different could be fun! And I might return to this topic to do that. But for now, I hope that was a good enough answer.

If you're on the autistic spectrum, you probably have at some point been a part of a group conversation discussing some subject, and you notice that some large key element of the subject has not even been mentioned. So you decide to be the one to bring it up, in case the other people present were not aware of this big important component at play. And when you do, the neurotypical people present start scoffing and roll their eyes, tell you that everyone already knew that, and act insulted and get sarcastic at you, and you have no idea what the hell that was about.
Anyway, if that's ever happened to you, I might be able to break this down. I have no idea if that's of any help, but here I go nonetheless:
Neurotypical people tend to assume that the things that they consider to be obvious are also obvious to everyone else. As their thought processes tend to consistently follow very similar patterns, this assumption is correct enough - in a room full of neurotypicals, everyone assumes that everyone else has noticed the same things, and assumes that they don't need to be clearly and specifically pointed out at all.
This kind of "obviously obvious" things form the invisible bottom layer of the way neurotypicals talk to each other. The top layer is what they explicitly say with words, and the second layer is an underlying message that they consider to be too obvious to say directly. For example, asking someone if they need help with something comes with the implied statement "I don't think you are capable of doing this on your own", and if the person being asked is clearly capable of doing the task on their own, it means "I think that you are so helpless in general that you might as well not even know how to do this, either", which is considered massively insulting.
A third layer comes from where and when something is said. Offering to help someone with something that you thought they should be able to do on their own is insulting enough in private, but doing it in public means that you aren't just telling one person "I don't respect you", you are making it clear to everyone who witnesses it that you want everyone to know that you don't respect this person, or that you don't think they're capable of any kind of a meaningful retribution for being insulted like that.
So, wrapping this all back together, sometimes when neurotypical people don't openly aknowledge something that's very important when discussing a subject, there's a chance that they're not oblivious to the importance of that specific component, but have simply all silently agreed that one would need to be an idiot to not be aware of it, and therefore it does not need to be brought up at all. So even when you are trying to genuinely make sure that you are all on the same page, you have offered to help them understand the subject - which they take as your way of letting them know that you don't think they're smart enough to do that on their own.
So they hear this as you saying "I think everyone in this room is a fucking idiot, and I don't respect any of you enough to pretend otherwise, nor do I care who knows it." And that's why they get mad for no reason.

A quote and thoughts regarding Shen Yuan's opinions on Liu Mingyan and the "sexiness" of the Liu Mingyan versus Sha Hualing setup. He knows what he should be feeling in this situation as a "normal straight guy", but I don't think he's actually feeling it.
"Shen Qingqiu was very fond of this female lead, and it wasn't only because Liu Mingya's beauty points were the highest. It was also because she had great poise. She always understood the big picture and grasped the general situation, and her conduct was fair and honest. Even in Luo Binghe's gigantic harem, a wife with both intelligence and moral character was rare.
There was one more appeal factor. Liu Mingyan was the only female character for whom Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky didn't write detailed sex scenes. Many readers had been highly dissatisfied with this arrangement, to the point that they spammed the comments with their ranting, but this had given Liu Mingyan something no other female lead had: an image as clear as ice and pure as jade!
Can't be helped, the unobtainable ones are always the best.
[Sweatdropping shrug kaomoji that I can't type out.]
This was what made the second match worth watching. An evil demoness naturally demanded a righteous saintess as a rival. Every man dreamed of being caught between an angel and a devil. To watch them jealously vie with each other over him one moment, then risk life and limb for his sake in the next - that was the highest, most sacred, perverted fantasy of every male organism. He could drunk off the wild, untamed charm of the wicked seductress, and at the same time his heart would ache for the austere taste of the pure saintess who kept pulling him closer only to push him away!
One had to admit, "Great Master" Airplane was genuinely good at nailing what people found satisfying. Shen Qingqiu couldn't help giving Luo Binghe another glance.
Luo Binghe found it very hard to not care about that gaze. Why exactly did Shen Qingqiu keep looking at him? Was it possible that Shizun... really had an interest in him?"
Volume 1, Chapter 2, pages 111-112.
I'm not sure where to start with this! It's a lot! I'll just work backwards: it is very funny to have Shen Qingqiu repeatedly looking towards Luo Binghe, trying to see Binghe's reactions to Sha Hualing and Liu Mingyan, and Binghe's just like, "Shizun is looking at me???" I think "interest" in this case just means interest in Binghe as a disciple with potential, rather than anything else. Binghe is not paying any real attention to Sha Hualing or Liu Mingyan's attractiveness.
Oh! A rare compliment towards "Great Master" Airplane! Shen Yuan, don't strain those rarely used muscles!
I do find it amusing that Shen Yuan refers to Liu Mingyan as "moral" and "righteous" and "pure" here. The vibe I got with Liu Mingyan is that she sided with Luo Binghe to take down her brother's murderer, which I would agree is righteous and abides by a set of morals. But the first few pages of SVSSS inform us that PIDW Luo Binghe viciously destroyed the great cultivation sects, which means that PIDW wife Liu Mingyan either helped or stepped aside when a whole bunch of murder happened.
And the "my favorite wife is the one with no (or limited) sex scenes" is a classic Shen Yuan moment and one of the reasons he reads as being strongly on the asexuality spectrum to me. The way that he talks about heterosexual "male" desire gives me the same vibe. Like he's separated from it. Like he knows this is what he's "supposed" to feel and he just... doesn't... and it's possibly hard for him to recognize what sexual desire feels like (as opposed to, say, general sexual arousal that doesn't necessarily have a target) if he's never actually experienced it himself. He knows what he should be feeling if he was the "every man" reader of PIDW.
Even when he talks about Sha Hualing and Liu Mingyan's appeal, he says "wild, untamed charm" and "pulling him closer only to push him away" as the key components of the fantasy. Like, "being flirted with" and "being fought over and fought for" and "appreciating a distant beauty" are more important than "having sex". "The most appealing thing about Liu Mingyan is that she wouldn't actually go through with trying to have sex with me," says Shen Yuan.
He's like, "Oh, I can recognize that Liu Mingyan and Sha Hualing are physically attractive, that probably means I'm an Ordinary Straight Man." Even though the way that he talked about Liu Qingge's looks in the Ling Xi Caves was... not very heterosexual... and here, he mostly seems excited just to see one of his favorite characters.
Admittedly, Sha Hualing appears 15-16 here and I think Liu Mingyan is around the same age (she doesn't have her spiritual sword yet), so Shen Yuan is probably also not attracted to them just because they're teenagers. (I do not interpret him as sexually or romantically interested in Binghe at all at this point in time.) I headcanon Shen Yuan being 20-ish at this point in time, so he's probably not that much older than SHL or LMY, but they're probably around his younger sister's age (Shen Yuan's younger sister was old enough to be reading non-con, gay, BDSM erotica.) Sha Hualing shows up half-naked and Shen Yuan is just like, "Where are your shoes? Did you walk here like this? Wasn't that painful?"
In my opinion, Shen Yuan seems a little... relieved... to think that no one could be sexually or romantically interested in the scum villain. He does lament that it's hard to get a girlfriend like this, sure. He does think that he's going to die and that he'd eventually lose any woman to Binghe, so there's no point in trying. But he really, really does not try. "Oh, I can't pursue anyone because they'd never be interested in me! How frustrating! ...Anyway! Moving on to enjoy the many other little pleasures of life! Like food and monsters!" I think the closest he comes to flirting with anyone is when speaking to Liu Qingge in the Ling Xi Caves, while Liu Qingge is coughing up blood, and that did not seem intentional.
I think if he had transmigrated into any other character, who wasn't an "unappealing" villain, Shen Yuan still wouldn't pursue women. I think he'd be like, "Well, I want a beautiful woman, because I have standards! But all beautiful women belong to the protagonist, and no one is better than Binghe, there's no way I'd win that competition, so there's no point in trying!" At which point, it's just like, "Shen Yuan, anyone becomes beautiful when you love or like them; I don't think you actually want to fuck women."
I think if Shen Yuan had transmigrated in as Luo Binghe, he still wouldn't try to pursue women. He'd be like, "I'm just raising my standards for the harem! Some of those wives were not very intelligent or in possession of good moral character! Nearly three-digits is disrespectful to the better wives! I'm only interested in especially beautiful and skilled women, like Liu Mingyan, who's perfect! (And also won't try to have sex with me.)"
Like, I am not against a bisexual Shen Yuan. I am willing to be persuaded to go along with many different interpretations! But he does read to me generally as a gay asexual / demisexual who hasn't yet realized that a desire to be fawned over and an ability to recognize beauty is not necessarily the same thing as sexual attraction. (I do think he is attracted to Binghe after Binghe gets back from the Endless Abyss, but his feelings there are tied up in his very real, reasonable fear of murder and mutilation.)

Dude in my opinion, the moonwater couple are like tidy couple? Do you get what i mean? Like they will keep everything at their place amd everything clean?
What will be their reaction if reader shows them this video and ask them if they would do the same to reader as a lesson?
It'll be cool if it can be a fic. But idk if your request is open. I just immediately went to this ask without checking it first
omg first of all - fuck that guy fr fr lolllll. Also that is such a sweet headcanon to have about moonwater - what does everyone else think? I totally agree with Regulus being super organized and tidy, but I'm not sure about Remus? Perhaps if he was with Regulus then yes, he'd be pretty tidy.
poly!moonwater x fem!reader who has hair ties and bobby pins and wears makeup
It was sort of comical the way that the three of you created some sort of spectrum of tidiness in your relationship.
Regulus was by far the tidiest of the bunch. As a matter of fact, if you didn’t see Regulus haunting the halls of your flat, you’d be hard-pressed to believe another person lived with you at all. He was so tidy, in fact, that he would often follow behind you as you tidied in order to re-tidy, though he never made a big deal about it.
“Don’t worry, mon amour, I’ll handle it. You go sit.”
He was simply just a tidy person – something that likely followed him into adulthood from his home life as a child – and he, as well as you and Remus, readily accepted that.
Remus was less tidy than Regulus but not nearly as liberal as yourself. Sometimes, you’d find Regulus picking up the odd stray half-finished cup of tea, or books that were turned face down and never returned to, but that was roughly the extent of Remus’ mess.
Remus was what you called a piler – he had various piles of things throughout your shared home that may look random or out of place to the layperson but seemed to be the pique of organization in Remus’ mind. He was also the kind of person who would clean as he cooked and wouldn’t sit down to eat until the kitchen was cleaned up behind him.
Couldn’t be you, however.
You were sure you seemed like chaos personified compared to your two boyfriends, always leaving a ‘trail of destruction’ behind you as Regulus once (lovingly) referred to it as. There was evidence of you everywhere – hair ties, bobby pins, half-finished drinks, books, magazines, and the likes. No one would have to wonder if you were home from work, seeing as your shoes were hastily tossed aside, your keys thrown onto the console table rather than hanging in their rightful place, your bag hung over the back of a chair, and your hair tie sitting on the kitchen table – all screaming “your girlfriend’s home!”
And though your boyfriends have occasionally taken the piss for your untidiness, it had never escalated to anything more than a “hey dove, can you come rinse your paint brushes that you’ve left in the sink” or a “amour, I don’t know where your makeup goes, can you come put this away?”
So, when you saw this video on Tiktok, you couldn’t help but ask them if they’d ever consider doing this to you to teach you a lesson.
“‘Teach you a lesson’!?” Regulus repeated incredulously, already looking horrified and you hadn’t even shown him the video yet.
“Why…why does he have a hammer?” Remus asked cautiously.
Suffice it to say, the boys did not like the video.
“I’m not watching this.” Regulus spat and stood from his spot on the couch next to Remus rather abruptly. You momentarily felt bad for showing it to him, knowing that signs of even mild aggression like this could be triggering to someone who grew up in a tense household, but felt better when he turned to glower darkly at you, knowing then that his ire was only half-hearted.
“Dovey,” Remus pleaded, his face looking horrified as he watched the man smash his girlfriend’s makeup. “Why…oh my god. If I ever do something like that to you, you fucking leave my arse, alright? Punch me right in the face whilst you’re at it, too.”
“Not me.” Regulus added, not making it very far after refusing to watch the video and leaning against the back of the couch to continue watching it over Remus’ shoulder. “Just kill me; put me right out of my misery if I insist on being such a miserable wanker.”
You snorted a laugh as both boys scoffed derisively at the “I heart you” written on the mirror, Regulus looking thoroughly disgusted and Remus still seemingly horrified.
“Oh, he loves her. I guess that makes it alright then.” He muttered sarcastically. “What’s this woman’s address? Tell her we’re sending her a gift card to…. what’s the store that you like?”
“Sephora.”
“Sephora; tell her we’re sending her a gift card to Sephora.”
You chuckled and leaned further into Remus’ shoulder. “You have to keep watching, he says he’s going to take her shopping for all new stuff after.”
This caused a pained groan to rip through Regulus’ throat as he began muttering angrily in French and finally wandering away. “Idiot absolu. On dit que ce n'est pas tous les hommes, mais il y a des hommes comme ça. Je ne peux même pas les appeler des hommes, plutôt des putains de bambins.”
“Why would you show me this?” Remus turned to look at you, his bottom lip jutting out comically. “This is making me so sad.”
“I wanted to know if you would resort to something like this because of my mess!” You defended.
“Oh, dove. You’re not messy, you’re just not as tidy as Mr. Clean-Freak over there.” He motioned towards the direction Regulus had gone with his head earning him a “you watch yourself monsieur les tas” from his boyfriend’s disembodied voice.
Remus pressed a lingering kiss to your lips and only broke away because he couldn’t stop smiling. “I would clean up after you for the rest of my life if it meant getting to keep you around.” He said proudly, and you felt your heart stutter in your chest.
“Remus.” You moaned, pressing another kiss to his lips. “So, you wouldn’t ruin my makeup for leaving it out?”
Remus scoffed and turned back to his book. “Not in a million years.”
“Come on amour! Get your jacket, we’re leaving.” Regulus called to you from the door. You could hear him jingling his car keys.
“Where are we going?” You called back.
“Sephora. I have to buy someone makeup now. If I can’t send some to the internet girl, I may as well spoil my own.”

al haitham x (shy, nerdy and introverted) reader
warnings: explicit content, yandere elements, implied noncon exhibitionism, high key self indulgent, wrote this with the urge to touch grass
al haitham brainrot at 7 in the evening cause my head refuses to think of anything else (except diluc, he's a constant in my mind and heart <3)
i've read it somewhere on tumblr; (yandere) al haitham with a shy, nerdy and introverted reader. while the fluff made my heart melt, i can't stop thinking about the other end of the spectrum. (please let me know if you find that post).
minors do not interact!
Tumblr media
al haitham, who finally gets frustrated of seeing the way everyone treats you and slowly starts slipping near you whenever he can, sending actual glares to everyone who dares approach you.
al haitham, who slowly starts asking you for help with his work when he notices you starting to panic a bit when no one approaches you for help anymore.
al haitham, the one who never concentrated on his surroundings when he was immersed into a book, now can't think of anything other than how your lips look wrapped around the tip of a pencil when you try to concentrate.
al haitham, who finally gives into his own urges to push the strand of hair that has been disturbing you since a few minutes, behind your ear, freezing as he notices you stiffen.
al haitham, who somewhat regrets blurting out his confession (in the most monotonous voice possible by a human being) the second you run out of the library. the regret that turns into pure exhilaration the next day, when you approach him with the request to give you some time.
al haitham, who waits months before getting an affirmative reply, taking it as his cue to kiss you on your lips - waiting to do it since the day his eyes landed on the pencil that was stuck between them.
al haitham, who finally gets to be the only one to taste your tea and witness your small, adorable smiles whenever you receive a compliment.
al haitham, who refuses to let you get up from his lap even if all the seats beside you are empty.
al haitham, whose hands start to wander once you get comfortable with his touch. they reach the most obscure places one can imagine, while his head too turns into a huge gutter.
al haitham, who is addicted to kissing with you on top of him, locking your hands behind your back with one of his own, while the other caresses your (chubby) cheek.
al haitham, who absolutely loves to take you on the corner of your shelf in the library, whispering assurances in your ear that no one is watching, even when he knows that someone is.
mostly just al haitham, who treats you like the most valuable book in a collection of rare ones.

What Turned me Gay: How to Introduce Someone to Gay Wrestling
It's no secret that wrestling turned me gay.  High school wrestling turned into a passion for pro wrestling, which evolved into an obsession with gay wrestling.  Now, while my journey is unique to me, I wondered, how do you turn someone on to gay wrestling?
What turned me gay (not really) ...
Tumblr media
Troy & Brian Baker v Vinny Trevino & Joshua Goodman (bgeast.com)
This post, inspired by the sidelineland.com blog, takes a tongue and cheek look into "what made me gay (not really)" and in thinking about the topic of introducing someone to gay wrestling, it's helpful to go back to the beginning - at least my beginning.
My first exposure to gay wrestling was on bgeast.com and boy do I still have vivid memories of that experience. Those wrestler profiles, the exciting match descriptions, all of it worked to overly stimulate my young imagination.  Reading about those grunting and groaning men made me feel like I was there, in the ring with them and feeling every strained bicep or the pain of a perfectly timed ball claw.  One particular image forever sealed in my memory from that day was an aggressive Brigham Bell flex-straddling a helpless Dino Serra in a schoolboy pin.  Brigham's cocky look, that vain bicep flex all worked to supercharge my interest.
Tumblr media
Brigham Bell v Dino Serra (bgeast.com)
Later, after months, maybe even years of research, when I was finally able to buy my first Bgeast DVD, I picked up Tag Team Torture 3 - specifically because of Mr.Troy Baker.  Now it wasn't intentional but what's key here is that I picked a gay wrestling match without the sex.  As it happened, Troy Baker simply didn't do nudity and after all my 'research' there was no stopping me from wanting to see him.
Tumblr media
Troy & Brian Baker v Vinny Trevino & Joshua Goodman (bgeast.com)A gay wrestling match without the gay sex
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean can you blame me?
All that to say that my first introduction to gay wrestling was less about guys doing it and more about the wrestling. Of course I visited other gay sites devoted purely to sex, but somehow keeping them separate - gay wrestling and gay porn helped. In fact, it intensified my gay wrestling passion since there was just nothing hotter than being taken to the edge of excitement, only to be denied it.  Gay wrestling wasn't just a cheesy prelude to the sex, it was an epic story of powerful emotions, humiliation, and masculinity.  Needless to say I was hooked.
Tumblr media
Flyboy v Jose (bgeast.com) Another gay wrestling classic without the sex.
I won't go as far to say that I didn't need the release that typical porn had to offer, but what I will say is that the images of hot guys straining their muscles or the guttural moans each fighter made was simply hotter than anything else I had seen before. Whether it was the intense cries of defeat or the shakiness in their voice when the adrenaline was flowing; all of that was heaven to me.
Tumblr media
Mars v Bjorn (wrestler4hire.com)
But the thing that did it for me was the intense realness that gay wrestling brought.  The sweat that proved each man was a fighter, the trash talk boasting how they would dominate each other, and the humiliation showing there were real consequences to all this, all worked in concert to fuel what was rapidly becoming my obsession.
Tumblr media
Grant Phelps v Mark Molina (movimuswrestling) Movimus: The most wrestling focused studio.
At stake in each wrestling match was a piece of a man's masculinity and pride, with the winner stripping the loser of everything they had. Gay wrestling to me was everything but the sex, everything but the climax, all of which made it a thousand times hotter.
So how do you welcome someone to all that gay wrestling has to offer? Following my path I'd recommend jumping into a classic high quality match minus the sex from a studio like Bgeast then alternating between a studio that offers more sex to one that offers more wrestling.
Tumblr media
After awhile you'll figure out where you land on this spectrum (wrestling and sex) and really begin to see where the stars align for you.  Now for me, if I had to guess what the perfect mix would be, it would be something like 75% wrestling and 25% sex, but to each their own.
Tumblr media
Ron Masters v Cody Brooks (can-am.com) Can-Am: The most sex focused studio.
Tumblr media
Jonathan Bennett v J Durango (bgenterprises) Bgenterprises: Sometimes all wrestling, sometimes all sex.
Tumblr media
Logan v Drake (nrwrestling.com) Nrwrestling: The most non-gay gay wrestling studio.
Tumblr media
Luke Truong v Mack Mahoney (muscleboywrestling.com) Muscleboywrestling: More sex focused than wrestling.
Tumblr media
Cali Boy v Christian Thorn (wrestler4hire.com) Wrestler4hire: More wrestling than sex.
Tumblr media
Cody v Tanner Ripley (undergroundwrestler.com) Undergroundwrestler: Gay wrestling with everything but the nudity.
Tumblr media
Kid Leopard v Sean Cannon (bgeast.com) Bgeast: This studio has everything on the wrestling-sex continuum.
When I first started watching gay wrestling there were really just a few options but now there are countless variations to entertain yourself with. Some of you may prefer more sex, others more wrestling, but whatever the type of gay wrestling you ultimately become interested in, it really is up to you. You see this story, this journey of how I came to obsess over gay wrestling is unique to me as it is to every other person's passion and without a doubt something that turned me gay (not really).

Lady Tabletop's Primer for Getting into Tabletop Roleplaying Game Design Philosophy
Sam Dunnewold over at the Dice Exploder podcast has posed a fun question to his discord server: where would you tell people to start if they wanted to know more about TTRPGs and design?
First and foremost, I'd tell people to start with @jdragsky's article about Systems of Relation.
With the benefit of hindsight, I can now understand that the games we played on the playground were identical in nature to the tabletop RPGs I would grow up to play and help design.
Next, check out Thomas Manuel's analysis of the Axes of Game Design over on the Indie RPG Newsletter.
So the basic exercise is trying to figure out the standard axes or spectrums on which every game can fit. The idea is for these axes to be as descriptive and objective as possible.
Thirdly (and lastly for the purposes of this blog - it's entry-level, not comprehensive), check out this reddit thread about lonely fun.
The Lonely Fun is all of the stuff you do as a part of your hobby away from the table, in any way you might engage. For D&D 5e players, this is usually building complicated and elaborate characters on the page, pouring over the books for new races and subclasses, figuring out fun new combinations, and carefully crafting characters.
Read those? Now check out BALIKBAYAN: Returning Home by @temporalhiccup
Will we be able to outrun our Masters and those who hunt us down? Can we use our magic to bring about the rebirth of the city and all Elementals? ill this be our RECKONING or our HOMECOMING? That’s what we play to find out.
Why I make these particular recommendations below the cut.
All of these recommendations are hopefully all entry-level. I tried to stay away from any essays, blogs, or articles that reference game movements you may not have heard of or that require tons of reading before you can even read my recommendations. Some do have links to other stuff, and if you're enjoying the writing, definitely go down those rabbit holes! These are a tiny, tiny portion of my "TTRPG Homework" folder where I save essays, podcasts, etc that have helped me in my own game design journey. I'm always happy to share more, just ask!
The essay on Systems of Relation put into words something I had been thinking about the more I got into indie games/design: I've been playing my whole life, and ttrpgs are just another piece of that. I think it's crucial to break out of the framework of people trying to define play and games into neat little categories. Will I ever write a game as good as the ones I played in the backyard with my siblings? Probably not, but I'd like to find out.
Now that I've told you to stop trying to categorize games, we have an article about trying to categorize games. But I do like Thomas's assessment and examples of using game design axes. I think as designers it's important to figure out the things the game is trying to do and communicate, so that we can make sure it does those things well.
Lastly, I know 5e gets a bad rap (and it's gotten it from me, too!). But the concept of lonely fun has stuck in my craw since I first saw this thread. It's why some people prefer to GM (and therefore why GM-less games might not work for some people). Not all games are going to have lonely fun, but the ones that do are still going to appeal to people! This thread was key for me in terms of considering that no game is for everyone, and it shouldn't try to be, and also helped contextualize the enjoyment I get from the occasional high-prep game.
Balikbayan as a recommendation was a no-brainer for me. I'm not going to say it's the most elegant or tight of Rae's work, but it's the one with the most heart for me. The story this game wants you to tell is so clear, and as an introduction to "Belonging Outside Belonging" as a system/concept/design philosophy. This game really sings in its character concepts and emotional play.
If you've read this far, congratulations! I've been enjoying the DE podcast (even when I don't agree with some of the takes) and the discord has been a cool (if at times intimidating) place to hang out. I've had a hell of a game design journey this year and I'm so excited to keep learning, and to see what media other folks participating in this blog carnival recommend!
To sign off: my best advice to designers, especially those starting out can be boiled down to three things:
When in doubt, simplify or make it silly
The two cakes theory is your best friend - game design is not a competition
Not everything has to be finished. Not every part of the creative process is fun. Find the balance between these two truths (you're going to have to do that every day).
Best,
LT

Assorted Candy Carrier Chaos Thoughts
Spoilers, obviously
I know some people are probably gonna be disappointed with Zooble ostensibly being sidelined for 2 episodes in a row, but given how out of focus they are, I feel like we’re building to an episode that puts them at the center and makes their lack of engagement in the adventures a thing that will absolutely punch us in the gut.
Tumblr media
By the end of the episode we realize Zooble has been putting together Kaufmo’s funeral, and while the rest of the gang (minus Jax) obviously participate in that, the implication I take from it is that is maybe holding on to customs, and the mental reminder that they are still fundamentally people who are alive, matters especially to Zooble.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Jax, gooseworx really wasn’t kidding when they called Jax “the worst person” in the circus. His lack of presence at Kaufmo’s funeral, his indifference to his abstraction in the first episode, and his attitude all throughout the Candy Kingdom suggests Jax has completely thrown himself into the idea that they exist in a game.
Anything that does not exist for his amusement, or can’t be molded to do so, is met with what’s basically a tantrum.
Tumblr media
At the end of the episode Caine says something to the effect of “who knows what might happen if I start mixing up who’s an NPC and who’s a person,” and I think that statement is going to end up being a key lens through which to view the story of TADC thematically.
Right now what’s standing out to me is that Jax and Pomni are completely opposite ends of a spectrum that everyone else seems to operate inside of.
Treating the NPC’s like “people” might not have been Pomni’s first instinct at all, and her attempt to do so isn’t something I see her repeating after this episode’s trauma, but that she does it at all is really interesting to me. Whether it’s because of an inherent sense of empathy, or because she’s trying to fill her own emotional needs with Gummygoo, for a period she’s capable of seeing humanity in this artificial intelligence.
Nobody else seems quite able or willing to do that, but they’re willing to “play the game,” except Jax who’s version of “the game” relies on never even pretending to think of the NPC’s as people. Everyone is an object to be approached dispassionately and subject to his own violent whims.
We’re not far enough into the story for me to draw a clear thematic conclusion on all that, but I like that I have this much to think about.
Also this was really funny
