hello! would you maybe be willing to consider writing a kind of follow-up to the poly moonwater fics where reader is pregnant? maybe when she has the babies and everyone’s reactions?? ty for reading my request🙏
I love this little family so damn much 😭🫶
poly!moonwater x afab!reader who gives birth to their twins
CW: pregnancy, hormonal fits, brief discussion of Regulus' childhood, brief discussion of Remus' childhood, going into labour, portrayal of breastfeeding though nothing is described, Barty losing his fucking mind, Uncle Sirius for Best Uncle 2024, also the babies look like their daddies to avoid describing/labelling the mother's features
Remus felt for you. He really, really did.
But also, he was a little afraid of you.
Scratch that, he was very afraid of you.
But his sympathy for you ran deeper than his fear, which is how he found himself sitting in one of the (many) gliders Regulus has purchased for every room in your shared home as you fought to find a comfortable position in your bed.
And yes, your bed.
Because you had since kicked Remus and Regulus out of your shared bed.
And though they didn’t feel particularly bad about it, you claimed it was their fault.
You see, after a particularly worrisome fall - that took place  at six and a half months pregnant (with twins, no less) as you missed a step on your way up the stairs of your townhouse - unfortunately for you, and fortunately for Remus and Regulus, it happened in front of all of your friends one night when they were over for dinner, which resulted in a lot of fussing by James and Sirius, and caused Barty to go marching upstairs and begin moving all of your furniture and belongings into the spare room on the main floor.
“Like fuck my Treasure is navigating these stairs in her condition. The two of you are sodding useless; this should have been done months ago.” He spat venomously as Evan shouted at him that it was “not polite to reconfigure someone else's house without permission.”
You vehemently protested the move.
Regulus and Remus didn’t think it was such a bad idea.
Because of their ‘betrayal’ (read: their lack of support in your arguments against your most capricious friend devotee), the boys were not allowed in ‘your room’.
So, perhaps Remus was already pushing the limits by taking up residence in the glider as you tried and failed to find a comfortable position to read in, determined to take a nap.
“The babes giving you grief, dove?” He asked softly, earning him a derisive scoff from you.
“What do you think?” You spat.
Remus grimaced but decided to soldier on. “They may be ready to come any day now.”
That was the wrong thing to say if your quick glare was anything to go by.
“No they are not.”
“Dove,” he started, closing his own book and leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he considered you. “Anywhere from 34 to 38 weeks is full term for twins. The fact you’ve made it to 35 is incredible, baby.”
Your lips pinched as your brows dipped, and Remus was sure you were close to tears. “No, I’m not ready, I-” you let out a breath as you cut yourself off, alerting Remus to the fact that you were about to give away the sex of (one of) the babies. “Baby B, they need more time.” You admitted, voice quieter as if you were afraid saying it any louder would somehow jinx it and trigger your own labour.
“They’re going to come when they’re ready.” He repeated.
He left the room after you threw your book at him.
He followed the sounds coming from the kitchen where he found Regulus on his hands and knees underneath the cabinets, of which he’d emptied of all their contents.
The second Regulus found out that the three of you were expecting twins, and due to the nature of the superfetation and thus the risks involved, he quit his job and strong-armed (read: lightly encouraged) Remus to do the same.
And while Remus focused on catering to you and ensuring you were comfortable (or…as comfortable as humanly possible when you had two little freaks using your organs as trampolines) and well fed, Regulus focused on…whatever this was.
“Reggie?”
“Mhm?” He responded quickly, voice muffled from where his head was still shoved deep within the lower cabinets.
“What are you doing?”
Regulus shifted and his head made a painful thump sound when it connected with the top of the cabinet before he pulled himself out of it.
“Cleaning.”
One of Remus' brows arched at that. “The lower cabinets?”
“Right.”
“Why?”
Regulus rubbed the back of his head as he looked between Remus and the mess he was currently surrounded by in the name of ‘cleaning’.
“Well…the babies-”
“Won’t be concerned with the lower cabinets.” Remus cut him off, looking down at his boyfriend lovingly.
Remus watched as Regulus took a deep breath and deflated significantly.
Remus pushed aside some large pots and various cleaning products as he joined Regulus on the floor and pulled him closer by the ankle.
“What’s going on inside that head of yours, love?” He asked him quietly, rubbing his thumb along his Achilles tendon as Regulus seemed to organise his thoughts.
“I don’t think I’m going to go back to work.” Regulus blurted finally.
Remus fought to school his expression as he tilted his head in consideration. “Ever?”
Regulus shook his head and rested his chin on his knees. “I don’t know. Maybe just part time or something…I just- I don’t…I don’t want to be like him.”
“Like who, sweetheart?”
“Like my father.” Regulus bit out, bitterness colouring his tone. “Avoiding my family and responsibilities by hiding at work. Coming home to find out the babies have done something wonderful and I missed it. I…I want to be here, and I’m afraid; I’m afraid I’ll be more like him than I mean to be.”
Remus smiled sadly at Regulus as he squeezed his ankle twice. “I already know you’ll be nothing like him, my star. Considering you’re so worried about it, I know you’ll be 100 times the father he was. But, I’ll be here to make sure that stays true, okay?”
Regulus’ eyes met Remus’, and he felt his heart squeeze at the redness rimming Regulus’ eyes as they turned glassy.
“I’ll take care of you - both of you; all of you. You’ll never have to want for anything, you know that right?” Regulus stated urgently.
Remus smiled softly at him as he nodded. “I know, love.”
“You could stay home indefinitely too, you know.” Regulus offered shyly.
Remus chuckled. “You just don’t want to have to face our little mama bear all by yourself.” He teased.
Regulus chuckled in response but his eyes morphed into a lovesick gaze as he stared unseeingly out the archway of the kitchen. “She’s just uncomfortable and stressed right now.”
“She’s gonna be such a good mum.” Remus agreed quickly.
“The best.”
“We’re so lucky.”
“Rem? Reg?” Your voice sounded from the hall before your form hobbled into the archway as you used the door frame for support.
“What’s the matter?” Regulus asked quickly, kicking his feet out and sending various pots toppling over on the tile floor.
Whatever you had been on your way to say seemed to be placed on the back burner as your brows pinched and your eyes darted across the chaos that was currently your kitchen.
“What were you doing in here?” You asked slightly breathlessly. Both Remus and Regulus stood sheepishly.
“Erm, uh….cleaning?” Regulus answered in the form of a question.
One of your brows raised as you continued scanning the mess. “You’re not very good at it.”
“What did you need, dove?” Remus asked gently.
Your face softened as you looked up at him worriedly.
“I think my water broke.”
You could have heard a pin drop in the messy kitchen as Remus and Regulus stood staring at you dumbfoundedly.
“You…” Regulus started before clearing his throat. “You think?”
You grimaced as you looked down to your stomach sheepishly. “No I…I’m quite sure. I think-” You paused to suck in a breath through your teeth. “I think it’s time.”
The breath that followed the end of your sentence bordered on a groan and the boys jumped to action.
“Okay, come here amour.” Regulus said gently as he supported you with one hand on your elbow and the other on your lower back and he guided you to a chair in the dining room. “Rem, can you grab the babies’ bags?”
“On it.” He answered quickly and went running to the nursery to grab two matching nappy bags. Merlin, babies come with a lot of stuff.
“Are you grabbing our bag?” Remus called to Regulus who was then running up the stairs to the ensuite bedroom.
“Oui! Amour’s bag is in her closet.”
“Got it!”
Regulus and Remus reconvened in the living room with four bags, two baby carriers, and enough panic to fill an olympic swimming pool.
“Okay, baby bags have nappies?” Regulus asked, reading off a list in his hands.
“Check.” Remus responded.
“Snappies?”
“Check.”
“Blankets?”
“Check.”
“Hats and booties?”
“Got it.”
“Okay. And who packed mama’s bag?”
“She did.”
Regulus let out a relieved sigh. “Okay, no need to check that one then.”
Remus offered him an unimpressed look as he re-zipped the babies’ bags and threw them over his shoulder.
“Okay, you grab the carriers and our bag, I’ll grab the rest.” Remus instructed, which Regulus complied as they stepped up to the floo.
“Alright, St. Mungo’s.” Remus said clearly as the flames surged green and the two men stepped through to the intake room of the magical hospital.
Both men were breathless as they nearly collided with the desk where an unimpressed mediwix looked them both up and down.
“We’re checking into the maternity ward; our partner has gone into labour.” Remus explained in an exhale.
The mediwix moved his gaze between both men, their stomachs, and the various belongings they were carrying.
“Right,” he drawled before his eyes returned to Remus’. “And, your partner?”
“Y/N L/N.” Regulus added quickly, causing the mediwix to move his judgmental stare to him.
“Right….and where is she?”
Both men spun to face each other in a mixture of horror and embarrassment.
Remus rounded the corner of the kitchen to find you sitting where Regulus had left you, one hand massaging a point of your stomach as you considered him with a look full of judgement and mirth.
“Where’s Reg?” You goaded as Remus helped you up from your chair and started making the slow trek back towards the floo flames; his face burning hot with shame that he was sure was spreading to the tips of his ears and well down his chest.
“He was too embarrassed.” He admitted quietly.
You sounded like you were getting ready to laugh when you doubled over and a pained whimper escaped your lips.
Remus quickly bent down so he had one hand on each of your arms, trying to help keep you upright.
“I’m sorry sweetheart, I’m sorry. We’re going to get you in a bed and feeling better, okay?”
You whimpered again and looked up at Remus sadly. “I’m sorry.” You cried quietly.
“Dove.” He admonished sadly. “What on earth are you sorry for?”
You took in two large breaths as you tried to breathe around the pain. “You have to do this every month.”
Remus wanted to cry. For you, or for himself, he wasn’t sure. He loved you so sodding much he couldn’t even tell what exactly it was about what you said that touched him so much.
“You’re so much stronger and braver than I am though, dovey. So if I can get through it, I know you can too, yeah?” He offered softly, pressing a kiss to your temple.
“I’m only brave because I learned it from you.” You gritted out through a sob.
“We can argue about this later, okay? Let’s get you checked in; I’m sure the mediwix is glaring daggers at Regulus for having abandoned his pregnant partner.”
He managed to coerce a small laugh out of you which he considered a win before you both stepped through the flames.
Remus didn’t grow up expecting much out of life.
Bitten at only four years old, he was certain something would go wrong with his little body during one of his transformations and he’d be dead long before he ever hit Hogwarts age.
He couldn’t attend muggle school growing up due to his affliction and the risk of performing accidental magic in front of muggles.
Though he was certain he was going to die before age 11, he was even more certain that should he make it to 11, he’d never be accepted into Hogwarts.
When he was accepted into Hogwarts, he was certain he’d never make any friends.
When he made friends, he was certain they’d hate him if they found out about his lycanthropy.
When his friends accepted him for his lycanthropy, well….he never imagined he’d be so lucky as to find a partner who was just as accepting.
Let alone two.
For as long as Remus Lupin could remember, he never imagined ever feeling as much love or as loved as he currently felt in this exact moment.
Not only did he have two people who he loved beyond measure, but those two people gifted him two of the most perfect, tiny little beings he could have never imagined possible.
And suddenly - sitting here in a hospital room with you resting in a bed with your eyes closed as Regulus wiped lovingly at your face with a damp cloth, with a tiny little black-haired baby swaddled to perfection fast asleep in a see-through bassinet on your other side, and with an even tinier fawn-haired baby snuggled perfectly into Remus’ bare chest - every single full moon was worth it.
Every broken bone, every scar, every ache and pain and sleepless night that brought him here was absolutely, without a doubt, worth it.
“Knock knock!” Remus could hear Lily murmur quietly yet brightly from behind the closed hospital door.
“That is so cringey, Red. Why wouldn’t you just knock?” Sirius muttered.
“Because!” She hissed back and he could hear what sounded like Sirius being swatted with her purse. “They could be sleeping! I don’t want to startle them with a loud knock.”
“Oh yeah, Rem and Reg are definitely gonna piss their pants at the sound of you knocking on the door. Shouldn’t mama be all drugged up right now anyway?”
You chuckled under your breath as you peeled open one of your eyes to look over at Remus who was looking at you with a matching smile as you listened to Sirius being walloped three more times.
“Okay, well, you guys settle this out here then.” James decided as he pushed the door open.
He smiled at you and Regulus before his eyes met Remus’ form in a glider as he was currently doing skin-to-skin with his miniature doppelganger.
James made a very embarrassing cooing sound (if you asked Remus) as he made his way into the room, tiptoeing like he was avoiding invisible trip wires.
Lily and Sirius stopped their scuffle as they followed James in, beaming widely at Remus.
“Oh my Godric, Moony.” Lily cooed, looking awfully close to tears as the nickname so unusual out of Lily’s mouth caused Remus’ eyes to well up similarly. “It’s you as a baby!”
“Who was right? Girl or boy?” Sirius asked quickly, daring to reach forward and lovingly stroke a finger along the downy soft skin on the baby’s cheek.
Remus snorted and Regulus groaned.
“Girl, Pads.”
“Yes!” Lily and Sirius cheered quietly as they gave each other double high fives, clearly over whatever tiff they were having in the hallway mere moments ago.
“Better luck next time, Reggie.” James called towards him, causing you to narrow your eyes dangerously at your friend.
“Wait.” James said as he caught sight of a little something in a bassinet behind Regulus. “WAIT.”
“What?” Sirius asked, craning his neck to see what James was looking at.
“No…” Lily breathed out disbelievingly.
“Twins?!” Sirius shrieked.
“What?” Regulus asked derisively, and Remus had to work really hard to keep his face neutral at that.
“Wha-” James started, violently whipping his head back and forth between the two infants in the room. “What do you mean, what!?”
“There’s two!” Sirius exclaimed.
Your mouth dropped open in ‘shock’ as you looked at Sirius aghast. “You see the other one too?”
The room fell painfully silent as James, Lily, and Sirius all looked bemusedly between the family of five before Remus couldn’t take it anymore and started giggling.
His daughter began to stir from the rumbling of his chest causing Regulus to scoff in faux admonishment.
“Would you knock that off, Remus; you’re going to give her shaken baby syndrome.” He muttered before he was gently prying the tiny infant from Remus’ chest and wrapping her up in a blanket before holding her close to his chest.
“Mama.” Lily breathed out. “Two!?”
“Two.” You confirmed. Remus delighted at the shy yet proud smile you adorned as you tucked your chin to your chest.
Throwing his jumper back on, he moved over to perch on the opposite side of your bed and pulled the little bassinet closer to the two of you.
“Are they both girls?” Lily asked.
“Yes.” Remus laughed, causing Sirius to cackle from where he stood looking over Regulus’ shoulder at one of his nieces.
“You were wrong twice little brother!”
“Sod off, Sirius.”
Sirius smacked Regulus up the back of the head. “You watch your mouth around my nieces, hellion.”
“Isn’t hellion a swear word?” James queried.
“It’s not a swear, it’s a noun.” Sirius explained.
“But then wouldn’t fuck be a verb?” Remus asked, causing the room to fall silent as everyone pondered that for a moment.
The silence didn’t last long as the sound of two heavy footfalls grew in volume before they stopped abruptly in front of the hospital room.
“Am I too late!?” Barty screeched (albeit quietly) into the room as he and Evan stood in the doorway catching their breaths.
“Too late for…what, Junior? What did you think was happening here?” James asked.
“Shut up.” Barty spat as he moved into the room, shoving past everyone to press kisses against your forehead.
“My beautiful, sweet Treasure. All this work for two tossers. We could still run away, yeah? You, me and the baby; just say the word.”
“Try babies, Junior.” Sirius taunted, causing Barty to straighten up so quickly he nearly collided with Lily as he turned to look at Sirius incredulously.
“What!?”
Sirius smirked as he pointed to the baby in Regulus’ arms as Barty moved to inspect the tawny-haired babe.
“A Lupin. That’s too bad.” Barty muttered quietly, causing Regulus to kick at his shin and you to shout a reproachful ‘Bartemus!”.
“And there.” Sirius continued, pointing to where Remus was picking up a black-haired babe from a clear bassinet to pass into your waiting arms.
“A Black!? Even worse!” Barty shrilled.
“Barty!” You chided again, though the smile playing at your lips severely diminished the severity of your tone.
“Oh, oh gods, oh my. I-”
Barty didn’t seem to know where to look; pained puffs of air leaving his lungs as he spun comedically on the spot, dividing his attention between you and the two baby girls.
“Rosier, your boyfriend’s about to combust.” Lily teased as she leaned back into James who quickly wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on her head.
“Barty.” Evan tried, causing Barty to look at him in horror.
“There’s two!”
Even Evan seemed to find some humour in the state of his boyfriend as his lips quirked up into a smirk. “Yes, babe. I counted that many as well.”
“Two!?” He shouted again as he turned his sights on you.
“How’d….How’d you have two in there!?” He barked as he pointed accusatively at your stomach.
“Magic?” You asked shyly, looking down at your daughter who was beginning to fuss.
“Way to go, Junior. You’ve upset her.” Sirius grumbled.
“She’s hungry.” Remus corrected, stroking her dark hair before moving his hand to stroke yours in much the same way.
“Her?” Barty asked quietly, watching as you helped the infant latch.
“Two girls, Uncle Barty.” You offered quietly, smiling softly up at your fiercest friend.
“I’m a girl uncle.” He said in awe, moving his smile towards the baby in Regulus’ arms.
“What are their names?” James asked eagerly.
You looked shyly up at Remus who in turn fielded the question to Regulus.
“This here,” Regulus started, pausing to clear his throat as he looked down at his daughter. “Is Rome Valeria Lupin.”
Lily let out a breathy ‘awe’ as she touched her hand to her chest, and Remus pretended he didn’t notice Sirius wiping a tear from under his eye.
“Named after the Empire, just like her daddy.” James commented with a soft yet proud smirk.
“And that one there is Soleil Pax Lupin.”
Sirius’ gaze moved to the little head he could see nuzzling at her mother’s chest. “A Sunny little girl.” He whispered quietly.
“Pax, that means peace in Latin, yeah?” Evan commented, smirking as Barty scoffed at him.
“Of course it does, Evan. Everyone knows that.”
James’ eyebrows furrowed as he looked towards Remus. “I didn’t know that…” He admitted quietly.
“And Valeria means strength; Rome was a little younger than her sister, but she was a powerful little fighter.” Remus explained, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“They’re perfect, you guys. Just perfect.” Lily commented emphatically, earning nods in agreement from James, Sirius, and Evan.
“With no help from these wankers, surely. You did a great job, Treasure. They may have lost the lottery in terms of fathers but these girls couldn’t have asked for a better mum.”
And though Regulus rolled his eyes with an annoyed shake of his head, no one bothered to argue.
These two girls really lucked out when it came to their mummy.
“Oh gods.” Barty whispered as he stood hastily.
“What?” Regulus asked cautiously.
“Oh gods.” He shrieked, turning a withering glare towards his friend. “You sods should have told me!”
Remus helped you right your robe as you pulled Soleil away from you and began patting gently at her back. “We thought it would be a funny surprise.” He explained.
Barty scoffed derisively and turned his ire onto him.
“Well ha ha, very funny.” He deadpanned. “I’ve only bought one of everything!”
Regulus waved him off after he passed Rome to his brother’s eagerly awaiting arms. “That’s fine, Barty.”
“No! It's not fine, Barty!” Barty volleyed back. “Evan, let’s go.” He ordered as he bent to press another kiss to your head, kissed his hand and gently pressed it to Soleil’s shoulder and did the same to Rome (much to Sirius’ chagrin).
“Where?”
“Shopping! I need to go back and buy another of everything that we’ve bought!”
“Over the past seven months!?” Evan asked incredulously.
“Yes!”
Remus could hear them arguing all the way to the floo flames.
Lily offered to take Soleil from you to finish burping the baby as the room fell into a comfortable silence.
“So, when can we start trying again?” Regulus asked, causing Remus to grimace and you to level him with a look that would send a lesser man straight to his grave.
“Okay,” Regulus acquiesced. “We’ll talk more next week.”
Sirius laughed as he looked down at the babe in his arms.
“Sounds like your papa’s going to be sleeping on Uncle Siri’s couch, Roro.” He cooed.
From the look on your face, Remus was sure Sirius was quite right.
A/N: thanks to some of the ideas that were sent to me from anon's, like the idea that they rushed to the hospital and forgot reader at the house 🤣

⊹₊ ✰ ⋆⊹₊ ✰ ⋆⊹₊ ✰ ⋆⊹₊ ✰ ⋆⊹₊ ✰ ⋆⊹₊ ✰ ⋆
History of Magic is usually an easy subject. Sit down, take notes, look over the assignment, complete it during dinner or before bed, and you're done.
But today everything but that is happening. You managed to get all the way to sitting down and pulling out your parchment and quill before the words Professor Binns says all mesh together. Nothing makes sense.
And you know it's due to the ache behind your eyes, the pounding in your head and the ache in your bones.
The last few nights you haven't slept, not really at least. It's nearing the end of this year at Hogwarts so everyone is preparing to go home. Planning what they will do with one another over break before the new year starts up. Talking about their family traditions, and a feeling of excitement takes the castle.
Despite this, a feeling of dread has been following you like your own personal rain cloud. The knowledge you'll have to return home eating you alive. Knowing you won't be able to contact Remus or Regulus, less your parents find out you're dating them, making you feel like you're choking on your heart.
The memories you've made this year really should weigh out the weeks you will spend with your family. In the stiff place, you're forced to call home with strict rules and expectations. Yet, you feel horrible. And it's been causing you to force yourself into your studies for the upcoming tests. Avoiding sleep due to nightmares that have recently plagued your mind.
Which leads to now, the room spinning slowly on an axis, ans Professor Binns slightly to blurry, even for a ghost. You know you need to zone back in, drink some water, take a vitamin potion or even visit Madam Pomfrey at this rate. Yet you can't make yourself do it.
Continuing to stay in your zoned out state till the end of class. And that's when even you draw the line.
Standing up from your seat as everyone filters out, albeit a little you're moving a little slower than usual, you exit in search of your boyfriends. Either or both. And it's not exactly a very long search, quickly finding yourself face to face with Regulus Black and Remus Lupin.
"Hey, dove." Remus' voice is sweet, per usual, like the comfort of a spoon full of honey on a sore throat.
Regulus doesn't speak for a full moment, analyzing you. To anyone else it would look judgmental, but the softness in his eyes and slight pull at the edge of his lips tell you differently.
"Hi, Rem." The boys look at one another, an unspoken conversation playing out.
"Why don't we go to my dorm?" Remus looks back to you, "haven't had much time for the three of us. James and Sirius have quidditch, and Peter is going to his study group."
"I'm down." Without another word, the three of you walk towards Gryffindor tower.
ᯓ★
Remus knows that Regulus tends to be a little quieter the closer to the end of the year, having been around the other Black brother for a while now. Already knowing how closed off Sirius would get when he still lived at the Black Manor, building up the walls early to protect himself when he left.
Even now, Sirius does it. Remus isn't sure if it's a habit or the fact that Regulus has been refusing to take the offer to stay at Potter Manor as well.
But you? You, he's not sure. Remus knows you and Regulus have known one another longer than he's known you, and that's never really bothered him. Remus knows all three of you love one another, and he's never felt left out. But know? Know he wishes you'd talk about your own home life.
Regulus doesn't like talking about his experiences at home; the only thing Remus knows is from old stories from Sirius. And Remus will never pry, not wanting to force either of you to do anything you don't want to.
But Merlin, he feels nearly useless right now, wishing to see the tension in your shoulders calm, wishing to see you and Regulus calm again. Wishing Regulus would take the offer to join them at Potter Manor. He wishes for both your safety more than anything.
The walk to the dorm is quite, but not peaceful. Everyone trying to stay calm and wishing someone else would say something. But no one knowing quite what to say to break the silence.
Once you do get up to the dorm, the Gryffindor's dorm, Regulus sets his bag by Remus' nightstand, you following suit, the emblems on your bags a contrast to the surrounding room. Regulus goes to find clothes he's left in Remus' closet before, while you sit on the lycans bed to slip off your shoes. Remus sits next to you, his hand resting on your lower back.
And finally, after far too long, Remus breaks the silence. "Dove..."
You glance up at him as you slip your shoes under the edge of his bed. "Yes?"
Remus sends a quick glance to Regulus, who's slipping on a long black sleeve shirt, one more comfortable than the previous Slytherin uniform. "I understand if you aren't comfortable with it, but..." He pauses for a moment, glancing back to look into your eyes, his thumb rubbing gentle strokes on your spine. "If you want to, you know you're welcome to stay at James' house."
Under his hand, Remus feels you tense, and from his peripheral, Regulus paused to listen.
"That's- that's okay, Remus. But tell James I appreciate the offer, please." You stand up far too fast for your lack of sleep, causing you to fall right back where you were sitting. Alerting both boys.
One of Remus' hands stay glued to your back, the other on your shoulder, as if your keen over. Regulus is quick to stand infront of you.
"Love, you should stay with them." Regulus' voice is full of worry. "It's better than any other option."
"You're not going." Your eyes shoot up to Regulus', far more defensive than you mean to be. Remus' hand, which was previously on your shoulder, moves down to the bed, the other hand continuing to run against your spine again.
"That's doesn't mean you shouldn't go." Regulus matches your defensiveness out of habit.
"You both should come." Remus talks before you can shoot back, hand on the bed finally moving to Regulus' arm, never seeming to catch a break.
There's a heavy pause. One that goes on for an uncomfortable amount of time.
"I'll think about it if you do." Your voice is more timid as you hold your stare at Regulus' eyes, his boring right back into you. Intense, deep, and so, so, loving.
Regulus sighs, "fine."
"Thank you, both. Seriously, you should come. James and Sirius want you guys there. Not to mention James' parents, they love new people." Remus kisses your hair line, standing up, hand leaving your back, before kissing Regulus on the lips. Both your bodies lossen.
Remus moves to change out of his uniform, and you quickly stand up to join him. Regulus' hand comes out to make sure you're steady as you grab a pair of sweats that no one truly knows who belongs to. They were probably once James, but at some point Lily stole them, and at a different point Sirius stole them back, and now so many of your friends have worn them at some point, it's probably weird.
Grabbing those and a jumper belonging to Regulus, you turn back to see Remus already curled around Regulus' back, who lays with enough room for you to join them. Both trying not to show just how eager they are for an afternoon nap.
You climb onto Remus' bed as well, using your wand to close the curtains, magically dimming the lights in the room before placing it on the bedside table. Curling into Regulus' front, leg thrown over his hip, you tuck your head into his neck. Yet your eyes remain open.
You definitely want to sleep, and you know you should, Remus is likely already asleep, knowing the bastard sleeps like the dead. Yet the knowing you could have another wretched nightmare makes you stay awake, staring over Regulus' shoulder the the golden brown hair tucked into his back, belonging to Remus, and letting the black hair belonging to Regulus slightly tickle your cheek.
"Go to sleep dove. Both of you. Please, you can't function without it." Remus' voice seems to startle both you and Regulus, both believing he was asleep, and believing the same about one another.
You pull back from Regulus neck, facing him, seeing the features of his face barely visible in the dark room. "We will, baby." Your voice is soft, as if you were telling a secret.
Remus merely hums and shift slightly before relaxing back into Regulus' back.
"Get some sleep, darling." Regulus kisses your cheek, "it's going to be okay in the end."
"I know. I know. We both need sleep; Remus is gonna kill us." Softly connecting your lips with his, slow and lazy, both smiling at the hum from Remus, confirming the empty threat you made for him.
You return to your being tucked into Regulus' neck. "'M sorry for being snappy with you." You mumble against his skin.
"You have nothing to apologies for, I understand where you're coming from darling." His hand rests on your hip and lower back, relaxing further into you and Remus, closer and closer to having a lovely nap. Of which, you join with the hopes of no nightmares.

Remus and Regulus would have a cat together.
At first, Remus was sure that it was a bad idea and didn’t want to agree. It took Regulus weeks to finally convince his boyfriend to get a cat.
So, they went to an animal shelter to look for their new friend (more like a baby). That’s where Regulus saw it. A small, white cat. He instantly fell in love with it. Remus still didn’t like that idea, but he just couldn’t say no to Regulus. He knew how happy it would make him.
Not even a week later, the cat and Remus become best friends. The cat sleeps on Remus’ lap, follows him around the apartment and meows to him all the time. And Regulus couldn’t be happier (he’s also a bit jealous, but that’s just a small detail).

Sirius went stumbling forward, hands flying out and grabbing onto whatever he could reach, which happened to be the slippery polyester of the windbreaker on James’ shoulder. His fingers slipped over the fabric and Sirius went tumbling down onto the sidewalk, his feet hanging over the gutter he just tripped over, his laces soaking in the murky puddle there. James looked down at him with a gasp, shocked to see Sirius fall, unable to catch him. He fixed the frame of his glasses and made eye contact with his best friend, and they both burst out laughing.
James stumbled back, far too overcome with laughter, already unstable on his feet from all the alcohol they’d been drinking, and crashed into a post-box. Sirius rolled onto his back, splayed out like a starfish on the pavement and wiped the tears forming in his eyes from laughing too hard.
They were far gone.
“You fucking git.” He managed to get out before clutching at his stomach with a new wave of laughter. James’ hair was even messier than usual, his glasses askew, and his jacket now practically half off as he gripped onto the post box behind him for stability. He looked like a mess, and it was hilarious to Sirius.
“You tripped over first!” James howled, standing upright now, “I told you the gutter was there.”
“I thought it was further away.” Sirius smiled, reaching his hand up for James to take. “It’s not my fault everything’s blurry.”
“It certainly is your fault.” James smiled, pulling Sirius to his feet, not without another stumble from the both of them, where they were gripping onto each other for dear life, “No one told you to skull that long island iced tea.”
“Actually, James dear… you did.” Sirius smiled, petting his friend on the chest as he slung another arm around his middle.
James smiled, thinking about it for a moment as he wrapped his arm over Sirius’ shoulders. They needed to rely on each other to stay upright, now. “Oh, yeah…” He started laughing again, “You’re right, I did.”
Sirius chuckled as they stumbled along the street. The air was cold out, crisp; it had rained whilst they were in the pub. Tonight had been an ABBA themed night, down at their local, and the pair had desperately wanted to go. Remus and Regulus had given them a stern no for an answer the minute they were invited, so it was just these two tonight. The original troublesome two… the ultimate duo.
They had a blast, dancing with a big group of girls dressed in glitter and flares. It was one of their eighteenths, her first night legally drinking, and James and Sirius had bought her a couple of shots. They all screamed and danced together when Gimme Gimme Gimme! came on, but James and Sirius screamed the loudest. The regular, older, more conservative patrons of the pub were not exactly pleased, but that just egged the pair on.
“Knowing me, knowing you…” Sirius slurred, swinging his arm out for dramatics.
James leaned further into his space, his breath like vodka and sugar, “Ah haaaaaa!”
“There's nothing we can do!”
“Knowing me, knowing you.” James bopped along, wiggling his body and hip bumping Sirius to take the next line.
“We just have to face it, this timeeeee we're through.” Sirius sang, rather terribly, actually. Sirius has a nice voice, James thinks, when he sings in the shower, and in the car. It’s nice to listen too, a good baritone, and he can hold a note. But now he was singing high pitched and without any intention of sounding good, and one could certainly tell. It almost made James’ ear ring, but he was too drunk to care.
James laughed, setting his voice significantly deeper to sing backup to Sirius, “This time were through. We're through.”
“And breaking up is never easy, I know…” Sirius broke out, tearing himself away from James and grabbing his hand, making James twirl under his arm, taking his voice up a notch, “But I haaaaave tooooo go!”
James pointed over to Sirius, setting his voice deep again, egging him on, “I have to go.”
“Knowing me knowing you,” Sirius sang, and then closed his eyes, pressed a finger to his ear and on the other hand he held up a finger as he practically screeched, “It’s the best I can doooo-”
“Shut the fuck up!” Someone yelled, half hanging out of their window of the building beside them, “It’s three in the morning you fucking slag.”
Sirius burst out laughing, his hands clasped over his mouth as he fell into James’ shoulder. James tried his best not to laugh, but he was struggling. He looked up to the person and gave them a little wave, “Sorry!” He shouted, before ending up in hysterics too, muffled by the wild frizz that had taken to Sirius’ hair.
They continued to stumble down the street, laughing into each other and trying their best to stay right way up, but it wasn’t easy. They finally reached their apartment block and took a good three and a half minutes trying to find the right key for the front door.
“I’m a bit hungry, how about you, mate?” James asked, pushing the door open for Sirius.
“Bugger.” Sirius tutted, trying to quietly make his way towards the stairs. There are lots of old people living in this building. There are lots of angry old people that Sirius enjoys pissing off, but mostly there are really lovely old ladies that bake the boys cookies from time to time, and old men that let Sirius and Remus flick through their record collections and borrow a few vinyls. So Sirius would rather not get on their bad sides. “We forgot to stop for yiros.”
“Bloody hell.” James muttered, clambering up the stairs behind him. They were both clinging onto the railing, occasionally climbing the stairs on all fours when the drink made their head spin. “I knew we did something different this time.”
“Do you reckon old Dimitri will have missed us.”
James snickered, whacking Sirius on his back, “I’ll bet he had an easy night without you there, do you know how long it takes for you to order? You get the same bloody thing every time.”
“Well I want to be sure, James.” Sirius said with a roll of his eyes, “Besides… he loves my company. I’m sure of it.”
“Ah huh.” James nodded, surpassing Sirius on the stairs. They’d initiated some silent race to see who could get to the top first, as they often did when drunk.
“Oi! Get back here, wanker.” Sirius whispered harshly, yanking James back by the belt loops.
Sirius managed to get past him, but only because James tripped back and down the stairs, onto the fifth floor platform. Sirius turned when he heard the clunk, and had to bite down on his hand to stop his laughter from waking Little Lucy, whose bedroom was right on the other side of the wall beside him.
“You bloody idiot.” Sirius cackled, his back sliding down the wall as he clutched at his stomach.
James sat up, rolling his shoulders and fixing his glasses, “You pulled me, you wanker.”
“You’re a wanker.” Sirius buried his face in his knees.
“Shut up, you’ll wake the whole building.” James said, clambering back up the stairs on his hands and knees, “Come on, we’ll never make it home at this point.”
Sirius let himself be yanked to his feet by James, and once again, they clung onto each other for the rest of the hike. Once on the seventh floor, James fumbled with the keys for another two minutes before Sirius snatched them away, insisting he could do it. He just tried shoving every key in the lock until one worked.
“You’re an idiot.” James mused, shaking his head.
“Actually, I’m a very smart and handsome young man, according to your mother.” Sirius said, pushing the door closed behind them with a bit of a bang.
James rolled his eyes, “Yeah, she said that when you were twelve.”
“Actually, she said that last night.” He grinned, grabbing James by the face and pumping his eyebrows at him, “When she was in my bed-”
“Ew!” James pushed Sirius away, pulling him into a headlock, “You repulse me, you git. Shut up.”
Sirius burst out laughing, and they roughoused a little before Sirius got free, and his hair stuck up much like James’. They were both wiping tears from their eyes, again, by the end of it.
“You know what would be fucking amazing right now?” James asked, walking into the kitchen with Sirius trailing behind him.
“Hmm,” Sirius thought with a little shrug, grabbing two glasses from the pantry, “Remus.”
James huffed, glaring over at Sirius deadpan, a bottle of fireball in his hand, “No. And unless you want me making similar comments about your brother, I suggest you shut your smart mouth up.”
“Ew!” Sirius fake gagged, “Disgusting, Prongs.”
James just grinned, a proud one. Sirius shoved the glasses on the counter in front of him, and James poured them each a very generous shot. “You know, Marlene told me that this tastes brilliant with apple juice?”
“Apple juice?” James asked.
“Yeah.” Sirius shrugged, “Wanna try?”
“Go on.” James nodded, “S’not like we’ve got anything to lose.”
Sirius pulled a funny face and laughed at James’ commentary, opening the fridge to get the juice out. “Oh, we’ve only got apple and blackcurrant…” He looked up at James, holding the bottle awkwardly in his hands.
“Oo, extra flavour.” James said, with an excited waggle of his brow, and Sirius laughed.
He moved over and very messily poured the juice into their glasses, “Wait… what were you going to say before?”
“What?” James asked, licking up the side of his glass where Sirius had spilled.
“Before…” Sirius shrugged, doing the same as James because he was really quite drunk and prone to mess, “When you said something about… you wanted something.”
“Oh.” James nodded, taking a sip and pulling a strange face, “Pasta.”
Sirius took a sip too, and made a face much similar to James, “Huh… this tastes…”
“Funny.”
Sirius nodded, “Yeah…” He shrugged and went for another sip, “Not half bad though.”
“I’m sure it would be better with just regular apple juice.”
“Probably.” He sipped some more, leaning his hip on the edge of the counter before slipping forward and stumbling into James again, “And what kind of pasta would you want right now?”
James laughed and helped steady him before speaking, both of their drinks sloshing over the edge of their glasses, “Hmm, cheesy… spicy… creamy.”
“Oooh.” Sirius grinned, all big with teeth as he set his glass down. He wandered over to the pantry to have a look, “We’ve got a million canned tomatoes… and a massive packet of penne.”
“Do we have cream?” James asked, and Sirius moved to the fridge to have a look.
“Yup.” He nodded, smiling over at James. He looked cheeky like that, as if he was up to no good again. And he probably was.
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” James asked with a mischievous lilt.
Sirius flung his hand in the air, slamming the fridge shut, “Dibs not cutting the onion!”
***
BANG!
Remus sat up in a flash, heart beating in his throat.
CLASH!
He was quick to his feet, not even taking the time to pull on his slippers like he usually would. He scrambled across his room with one sock on, the other lost to his bed somewhere, in his boxers and a Metallica shirt that was actually Sirius’.
There was an umbrella sitting by his bedroom door, and he grabbed that before heading out into the dimly lit hallway.
He came face to face with Regulus there, standing in his own doorway, a pocket knife clutched between his teeth as he was pulling a creased shirt down his front. He had sleep rumpled hair and bags under his eyes, his feet bare and James’ gym shorts on.
Regulus pressed a finger to his lips, and Remus nodded, both staying dead silent as they turned towards the threat. They could hear voices echoing through the apartment, it sounded like they were arguing, hurrying each other on. Intruders, they were both thinking. Had to be.
They crept down the hall, getting closer and closer to the light coming from the kitchen. The pair stayed close as they approached, silently communicating with one another. Remus would take the one to the left, and Reguls would take the one to the right.
They took a deep breath together, and stepped into the kitchen, weapons raised, ready to attack when-
Oh.
They both lowered their weapons immediately, staring at their boyfriends and the utter mess they’d made of the kitchen.
There were half drunk bottles of alcohol on the island, cups half full and liquid spilt all around them. There was dry pasta scattered over the stove and floor, and tomato sauce fucking everywhere. There was a bag of grated cheese covering half the bench top, a half cut onion there as well. Not to mention the amount of used dishes lying around. Really, how many pots and pans does one need when making pasta?
And the fighting the pair had heard, well that was coming from James and Sirius, standing over a pot of red sauce, bickering over the stirring spoon.
Remus looked over to Regulus with an un-amused expression, who had a similar one plastered on his own face. They both sighed and looked back to their boyfriends, who looked up with the sudden sound, startled.
The both of them, caught like deer in headlights, dropped the spoon and pulled their hands to themselves. The spoon clattered down into the pot, causing some of the sauce to splash up onto them and-
“Ah! James!” Sirius whined, covering his eye, “You bugger! Why’d you drop the spoon?”
“Why’d you drop the spoon?” James fought back.
Sirius sniffed and cried out, “Why’d you put so much chilli in there? It burns.”
“God help me.” Remus muttered to himself, dropping the umbrella and rushing over to Sirius, “Give me your face.”
“Oh, okay.” Sirius smiled, his cheeks crimson as he pulled his hands away, one eye squinted shut. He leant forward, lips puckered for Remus.
“No.” Remus tutted, tapping his cheek a few times before dragging him over to the sink, “Your eye, you knobhead.”
“Why are you being mean?” Sirius whined as Remus shoved his face under the now running stream of cold water from the tap. Sirius cried out, slamming his eyes shut as Remus did his best to rinse the spicy sauce out.
“Because you woke me up.”
“James!” Sirius gasped and ended up with a mouth full of water. He spluttered it out before continuing, “I told you to be quiet.”
“I told you to be quiet!” James bickered back.
“What was that bang?” Regulus asked.
“Padfoot dropped a pot.” James said, easily dobbing his best friend in, even pointing over to him with a thumb, acting like a five year old who just got caught drawing on the walls.
“James!” Sirius scolded, kicking his leg out and nicking James on the calf.
Regulus rubbed his head, “Both of you, shut the fuck up please?”
“Yes, Regulus.” Sirius muttered, ending up with another mouthful of water at the same time as James said,
“Yes, Reggie, my love.”
Sirius kicked him again.
“Alright.” Remus muttered, lifting Sirius and turning off the tap, “Blink for me?”
Sirius did as he was told, moving his now soaked hair out of his face.
“You look like a wet rat.” James said, snickering to himself.
Sirius gasped and flipped him off, still trying to fix his hair, “Remus, you still think I’m pretty, right?”
Remus deadpanned him, grabbing a tea towel to wipe his boyfriends face clean, “I think you’re a very pretty wet rat.”
Sirius kicked him too.
“Why the fuck are you making pasta?” Regulus asked, rounding the counter to turn off the stove.
“We wanted pasta.” James shrugged.
“It was all Prongs’ idea.” Sirius said and poked his tongue out at James.
James poked his tongue back out of Sirius, which got him a swat across the chest. So, naturally, he swatted Sirius back, which led to Sirius then retaliating, and they were roughhousing again, on the messy floor of the kitchen.
Remus rubbed his eyes, looking at the mess before turning to Regulus, “Tomorrow?”
Regulus nodded, “Tomorrow.” He agreed, and they both turned to head back to their rooms.
“Where are you going?” Sirius poked his head up, his hands shoving James’ face into the ground.
“Don’ you wan’ some pastha?” James asked, his cheek awkwardly smushed into the tile, slurring his words.
Regulus and Remus shared another look. They were both tired as shit, being woken up at who knows what hour of the night to deal with this atrocity, but unfortunately they were burdened with stupid love for their stupid boyfriends.
“Fine.” Regulus sighed.
“Just a little bit.” Remus agreed, “But then bed.”
“You’re cleaning this up tomorrow too.” Reggie said, arms folded as he jutted his hip out, “We expect to wake up to the kitchen being spotless.”
“Yessir.” Sirius saluted him, clambering off of James now.
“Anything you want, Reggie bab-” James started, but Sirius tackled him to the ground again.

Chapter One, masterlist, Navigation
Safe. That’s how a home should feel. However, 12 Grimmauld Place, was anything but. That’s why, as many students were hesitant to leave home to go back to Hogwarts, the Black siblings were beyond relieved.
They were finally getting to leave their cruel parents, and jump back into the warm embraces of their friends. Well, at least Sirius would. You wouldn’t be able to say the same for the twins. Lyra and Regulus had always been more reserved. Sure they had friends, but that didn’t mean that they ever opened up to them.
Lyra ran her brush through her hair one final time before tossing it into her crossbody, where she put her few stray items that needed to be left out for that morning. She quickly snapped it shut, and brushed down her skirt, making sure all her articles of clothing were in place before walking across the hall to Regulus’s room.
The young witch knocked twice before entering to find Regulus sliding into his coat. His gaze snapped to hers, his eyes instantly gaining a small amount of light. The most that could be had in this house without being reprimanded for it.
“Good Morning, Lyra Carina.” Regulus spoke softly, greeting his twin.
The corner of her lip upturned, not allowing anymore of a smile than that, knowing better than to. “Good Morning, Regulus Articulus.”
It had been their greetings for each other for as long as they could remember. Never only their first names, never only the middle names. Always the first and middle.
“Allons à la maison?” Lyra quietly asked Regulus. She had always been the most soft-spoken of the trio of siblings. Regulus was quiet, but knew how and when to raise his voice, and Sirius was always just loud.
“S'il te plaît,” Regulus responds back instantly.
Together, the twins looped their arms together, and walked down the hall a few doors, and without knocking, walked into their older, by only eleven months, brother’s room. “Time to get up Sirius,” The younger boy walked over, and pulled the cover off of the eldest.
He yelped in surprise when the chill of their cold home bit against his arms and legs.
Taking a different route, Lyra walked over to the boy’s armoire, pulling it open and selecting a black long sleeve button up, black dress pants and his customized coat. Each sibling had one. All knee length, black, with silver threading, and stitched into the collar laid their initials. The two boys had on similar attires, except regulus wore a green shirt in contrast to his brother’s black. Lyra however, wore a silk long sleeved shirt, black skirt, black gloves, and her coat. And the thing each sibling despised the most? The shoes. Black dress shoes for the boys, and black heels for Lyra. Not a single article of their as they referred to it, “uniform”, and not a single hair out of place, or they would not be leaving the house without punishment.
Finishing off her task Lyra laid out her older brother’s shoes, before gently pulling him up out of bed. “Come on, are you not ready to leave here and get back to your merry band of marauders?” She asked in a mocking tone, which had him leaping from his bed and shoving his two younger siblings out.
The twins waited outside Sirius’s room for about five minutes before he came hopping out of it, while pulling his shoes on. The two sighed, before turning and heading down the stairs, mentally preparing themselves to face their parents.
Lyra and Regulus hit the bottom step, immediately met by their mother’s sharp gaze. “You two, look acceptable,” She hisses and waves her hand, motioning them off. “Sirius,” She greets sharply. “As good as it will get,” Walburga grits out.
The siblings let out a silent, collective sigh of relief. “Let’s go.” She demands. Their father meets the rest of the family by the door. Walburga grabs hold of the twins, and Orion tightly grips Sirius’s arm as they all apparate to the train station.
The family, of course, arrives earlier than everyone else, “At Hogwarts, the three of you are representing The Noble and most Ancient House of Black. Do not, let us down,” Orion hissed out. And without any more parting words, the parents apparate back home, leaving their three children in the silence of the empty platform.
As soon as they realize that they’re alone, Sirius pulls his two siblings into a hug, not having gotten two since the end of last school year, before they got off the train to go home.
As Lyra melts into the embrace, Regulus tenses for a moment before squeezing his brother and sister back with equal strength to Sirius. “I know that we’re in different houses, but promise we won’t cut off all communication?” Sirius mumbles as they part from the hug.
“Sirius, mother and father have spies everywhere. We’re not supposed to communicate at school.” Regulus replies, venom lacing his tone towards their parents.
Sirius scoffed. “Screw the old bats, they can’t control us.”
“No, Sirius, they can’t control you,” Lyra softly slips into the conversation.
Sirius looked down to his younger sibling with a mixture of anger and sympathy swirling in his gaze. “Screw the old bats,” he said again. “We can at least meet in discretion. Make sure no one sees us, and no one follows us.” he reasons.
Lyra and Regulus lock gazes, having a silent conversation in a way that Sirius would never understand. They both nod after a moment. “Okay,” Lyra agrees. “We can do that.”
Sirius lets out a sigh of relief at that and then looks down to his watch, seeing that it was almost time for more people to start showing up. He exaggeratedly salutes the twins before gliding down a ways on the platform and leans against a pillar, for they siblings got sorted into different houses and are not supposed to interact on school grounds or in the public eye of classmates.

The streets of Baldur’s Gate are full of mirth, construction paused so that its citizens might celebrate the very fact that there is a city left to rebuild. They dress in their finest, flooding the streets with celebratory joy. Alleyways strewn with rubble are filled with dancing revelers. The air, thick with settling dust, is light with warbling song. And the night sky brightens with shimmering fireworks, sparks fizzling down into the harbor. Vendors sell delicious treats and memorabilia to remember the day Baldur’s Gate was freed from the Absolute. While the city proper is alive with good cheer, anticipation thrums through Wyrm’s Rock as people try to squeeze into the audience chamber, eager to catch a glimpse of the famed Heroes of Baldur’s Gate. They all murmur to one another, whispering rumor and speculation, peering excitedly at the motley crew of adventurers standing before the throne.
“I heard the Duke’s son made a pact with a devil and that’s why he has those horns now.”
“They look quite fetching on him, don’t you think?”
“Is it true that one of the Tieflings has got an engine for a heart?”
“Oooo, bet she’d keep me nice and toasty at night.”
“That pale elf is rather handsome, don’t you think? Mischievous looking, too. Bet he’s a boatload of trouble.”
“I’ve never seen a Tiefling with webbed ears before.”
“Rumor has it that she and Gortash were quite the item.”
Meanwhile, Astarion fidgets restlessly where he stands, a dour expression on his face. He does his best to entertain himself by tuning in to all the various theories being slung back and forth throughout the hall. There’s plenty of rumor, true or otherwise, to keep him distracted from the empty feeling that has pervaded him since he awoke this afternoon. As the sun sank beyond the glittering waters of the Sword Coast, Astarion found the elation of the last several weeks gradually emptying from him, like a slow leak in a cracked bottle. Has it really only been a little over a tenday since the defeat of the Netherbrain? Battling the Absolute feels like a lifetime ago, and yet, the deep exhaustion makes it seem as if Astarion and his companions fought only this morning. His sore muscles and creaky bones need months to heal. And his foggy thoughts, even longer. He feels weary already from this evening and nothing has even happened yet. It’s nice to be honored, he supposes, but it also seems, perhaps, a bit too much, a bit too soon. He’s hardly had a moment to breathe.
A gentle caress draws him briefly from his swirling thoughts. Orlando’s lips feather kisses along his cheekbones, sending a gaggle of young men and women into a bit of an uproar near the front of the crowd. She chuckles at their nonsense before cupping Astarion’s face in one hand and smoothing her thumb over his cheek. He leans into her caress, letting his eyelids flutter shut.
“You look lovely, my darling,” she whispers in Astarion’s ear, the tickle of her breath sending delightful shivers up his spine. The outfit he sports is one Figaro tailored just for him: a royal blue tailcoat with feathered, gold embroidery and a white undershirt with a frilled high collar. His knee high boots are made of black leather and have the slightest kitten heel. Orlando helped him pick the shoes, which are both comfortable and stylish, perfectly showing off his shapely calves.
Astarion casts a coy look at her, crimson eyes dragging up the length of her body. Orlando looks bewitching in her black and gold robes, swirling tentacles embroidered along her collar and sleeves. She is every bit a formidable warlock and sorcerer, enigmatic and not to be trifled with. And yet, her gentility shines through even her most severe apparel. Her dark hair, long now from many months of journeying without a haircut, cascades down her back in ringlets and waves. Astarion delicately tucks a loose strand behind her webbed ears. Her bioluminescent spots over her eyelids and on the shells of her ears twinkle in delight.
“And you, my dear, look ravishing,” he purrs, savoring the blush that dusts her cheeks. Before their flirtations can go much further, the din of the crowd softens as the grand doors are flung wide once again. Counsellor Florrick and Grand Duke Ravenguard make their way to the dais, taking their places aside the ragtag team of adventurers who somehow managed to save Faerûn from the doom of the Absolute.
Wyrm’s Rock lulls to a hush, silenced by a simple flick of the wrist from Counsellor Florrick. Astarion feels the eyes of hundreds fall upon him, upon his companions, and a sudden flutter of anxiety tickles his lungs. He shifts uncomfortably, hardly one to stand on ceremony. He cannot recall the last time he addressed a crowd as large as this. Back in his years as a magistrate, public speaking was not unfamiliar to him. But in the two-hundred years since, it has become nearly as foreign to him as the sun on his skin.
“Don’t worry, my love,” Orlando had reassured him earlier that evening, “Wyll’s in charge of the speeches today.”
Astarion hopes this remains true. It was already hassle enough to request this gods-forsaken ceremony be held at night, rather than in the morning like it had initially been suggested. He thinks of the hullabaloo that would ensue were he to open his mouth and flash the sharpened canines housed within. He can’t even begin to fathom the uproar that might occur were it to be discovered that a vampire spawn is one of the Heroes of Baldur’s Gate. Though, stranger things have happened, he supposes. Flying brains wasn’t exactly on his docket for this year. And neither was the adoring woman beside him, flashing a loving look his way just as the festivities officially begin.
The voice of Ulder Ravenguard drones in the background. Astarion is far too focused on looking poised to pay any attention to what the man is going on about. Praise, no doubt. Camaraderie and pride, blowing smoke, yadda yadda. It’s all well and good, but there’s a million other things Astarion would rather be doing with his freedom than sitting through some long winded speeches. The after party promises to be far more entertaining than the ceremony itself. Karlach has challenged everyone to a dance off, which Astarion would gladly pay to see (though he’s not sure he wants to participate). And the after-after party with Orlando promises to be a delight, as always. He catches her eye once again, smirking devilishly at the coquettish beam that plays on her lips. His mood brightens for a little bit after this small exchange.
As the evening wears on, however, the chilly emptiness begins to creep in again. An inexplicable untethered feeling; like he’s adrift in the ocean, unmoored and without direction. Astarion and his companions each gain a crimson sash, heavy with medals of honor and valor. Ordinarily, Astarion might scoff at something so- heroic. But in the wake of the vacuum forming in his chest, he feels a swell of pride when Florrick greets him with a smile, lowers the sash over his head, and moves aside to adorn Orlando with one of her very own. The crowd erupts into cheers, applause, the hall overflowing with joy, relief, elation. Astarion feels their energy burst within him, pushing aside the icy chill in his heart, chest filling with an overwhelming sense of gratification.
Until anxiety rears its head once again, sudden and without explanation; and all excitement peters out, a flickering candle snuffed out by rain. A thousand eyes on him. Eyes in the shadows. Lurking. But he cannot tell if it is something real, a malignancy out to get him, or if what lingers in the darkness are the ghosts of his past. He searches the faces in the crowd for one in particular, but he cannot find the narrow face of his master, the hateful glowering gaze. And why would he?
Dead and gone, he reminds himself, I killed him, myself. I watched him die.
Relief has not found Astarion, yet. He cannot help but look over his shoulder when he travels through empty alleyways. He cannot help but cower in the shadows at the slightest hint of sunlight. He winces at the sharp calls of hawkers in the market, as if their cries are admonishments for his failure and not promises of goods. His back prickles, tiny needles stabbing his scarred skin, the memory of a blade carving his flesh still poignant in his nerves. There is blood in his mouth, rat fur trapped in his teeth, the horrible crunch of bone when he bites down. Red eyes in the dark, eyes that aren’t there, but seem to leer at him from ages long gone. He has not dared venture anywhere near Cazador’s Palace, now abandoned, but still no less frightening.
When will it end, this feeling of paranoia? Shouldn’t it be gone by now? Shouldn’t Astarion be feeling the full rapture of his freedom? The full force of ecstasy that comes with the unshackling of his bindings? Shouldn’t he be feeling- happy? And not whatever this hideous, soul-sucking vacancy is?
Beside him, Orlando’s breath hitches in her throat. Astarion can feel that same lacuna in her, that same draining emptiness. Behind her soft smile is a deep sorrow, an immense exhaustion Astarion, himself, is wholly familiar with. Her eyes reflect a weariness etched permanently into her soul. He nudges her gently with his elbow while the crowd is distracted by Wyll’s rousing speech. They’re seated now, in one of the pews near the front. The Tiefling smiles weakly at him, intertwining their fingers when he slips his hand into hers.
“What troubles you, darling?” Astarion whispers, nudging at her thoughts with his own. They are forever bound, a telepathic link born not of the tadpole, but of Orlando’s eldritch heritage, a gift from her most generous patron. Astarion cannot use it very well and she is still learning, one toddling step at a time. But they each can use it well enough to pass secrets back and forth, or gossip from across the room at parties and what not. However, sharing memories seems to come easy to them both.
Orlando lets him in. The familiar exhaustion of months on the road is first to greet Astarion. He knows that feeling all too well. The constant walking. Gods, the endless walking and jumping and climbing. If he never has to hike again, he could die a happy vampire. Roughing it in tents, trying to find comfort in thin sleeping rolls, and bathing in whatever water they could find has sapped him of his vigor. It has been an absolute godsend to be able to sleep in a comfortable bed and bathe in an actual bath tub, even if it is at the Elfsong Tavern for now.
Deeper than this surface-level exhaustion, however, is a pervading sense of weariness in Orlando’s soul. The pain of her childhood: searing sunlight, brackish water, coarse salt, and jagged rocks. Harsh words thrown at her by a tyrant father, fleeing, and wondering if she’ll ever be safe. A brief reprieve, immense love, shared laughter with her mother and brother, the bustling harbors of Baldur’s Gate, the smooth ocean against her scales, freedom and independence. Confusion, uncertainty. And then darkness: trapped in a dank basement, confined to the shadows, lost and confused, separated from her loved ones, now the property of a devil. This all merges and congeals with the pain of loss throughout these last several months. Betrayal, anguish, ruin. Innocent lives lost, and for what? Tadpoles and brains and undead armies. The death of her father, a complicated and raw recollection. The severing of her tie to his despotic patron. Joyously reuniting with her own, M’aheth, Daughter of the Cosmic Sea. Being named Twin Star, honorary daughter. The pride that comes with such a title.
Orlando’s thoughts lift for a moment, recalling her relief when she and her mother and brother finally became free of their ancestral ties. But something Wyll says sucks her right back down into wallowing.
“Gone are the tyrannical days of Enver Gortash,” Astarion hears Wyll’s voice call out to the crowd. A soft murmur ripples through the room, some voices resounding in approval, others in staunch disappointment. That name is a complicated one amongst the citizens of the Sword Coast. For Orlando, it sparks an aching sorrow, a bereavement riddled with anger and shame. The memory of Gortash lingers strong in her mind, mournful and rife with confusion. Astarion feels this pain on the fringes of all her thoughts. Images of Enver as he was, youthful and mischievous, sweet and intelligent, gifting Orlando a tiny, mechanical figurine of a mermaid, flit before Astarion’s eyes. These images do not compute with the ones that follow: Enver lording over Baldur’s Gate, cool and uncaring gaze sweeping over enslaved Gondians, dead citizens, and pools upon pools of writhing tadpoles. Orlando’s mind struggles to contend with the sickening squelch of the metaphorical knife she plunged into the lordling’s back, an eternal curse falling from her lips out of anguish, a final kiss in his dying breath. Laying motionless at his side, for an engulfing eternity, staring vacantly into an abyss she almost couldn’t return from.
This abyss enshrouds Astarion’s vision for a moment. Suddenly, Cazador blips into Orlando’s thoughts, and it’s then that Astarion realizes the focus has shifted to his mind. The agony of stolen youth pummels him, sunlight bright and warm on his skin, a forgotten memory. Blank eyes gazing at him in a mirror, eyes he cannot remember the color of. Arrogance, pride, power in his early years as a magistrate. And then pain, body broken and mind fuzzy as he’s beaten senseless. Fear as he realizes he is going to die, and he is going to die alone, in some stinking back alley of Baldur’s Gate. Fear turns to hope- a figure emerging from the shadows, austere, angular face swimming into view, promising he can save Astarion. Promising an end to his suffering.
Icicles in his neck, pinpoints of pain. And then emptiness. Dirt, loam, stifling and cold. His fingernails bleed from how hard he is scratching the inside of- dear gods, this is a coffin. Screaming, wailing for someone to help, please help, he’s been buried alive. Clawing his way through the earth, the first sweet breath of fresh air, only to retch. Rotten blood burbles in his throat, foams in his mouth. And then darkness, for two-hundred years. Darkness and agony, self-hatred and ruin.
Orlando squeezes Astarion’s hand, drawing him back to the present. He sucks in a breath, as if he’d been holding it. As if he has any breath to hold. He re-orients himself. Wyrm’s Rock, ceremony, Wyll’s boring speech. Astarion settles, quietly pressing a lingering kiss to Orlando’s temple. He feels her mind almost sigh in relief. The contact settles her thoughts and the desolation seems to wash from her mind in a gentle sweep of comfort. Suddenly, Astarion is bathed with the rosy warmth of adoration. All thoughts of Cazador disintegrate, turning to ash and sifting away. Orlando offers up an image of a house he’s never seen before: built out of cream-colored stone, a lush herb garden skirting the perimeter, smoke rising from the chimney. Astarion feels cozy in this vision, the scent of rosemary filling his nose, lungs blooming with warmth.
“Your home?” he puts forth, limited to simple questions by their infant telepathic link. Perhaps this is her childhood home, the one she spoke so fondly of when it was just her, her mother, and brother. Orlando shakes her head, a knowing smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
“Ours,” she corrects, squeezing Astarion’s hand. He ruffles her thoughts with his surprise, his excitement. He wants to ask her more questions: did she buy it already? Is this a house that actually exists or just the idea of one? What does she mean “ours?” But before he can, he feels her thoughts shift. Now, he sees the two of them on the road, packs slung over their shoulders, hand-in-hand as they traipse through a sparsely wooded area. Fresh air, bright and clean in his lungs, and a clear night sky. The world is aglow with moonlight, a silvery band of stars streaking across the heavens. There is a promise of tomorrow in this vision, of possibility. Of adventure.
“Adventure, with a home to return to,” Orlando posits, a well of joy overflowing in her heart, “Not ready to settle down quite yet.”
She winks, knowing Astarion is just as restless for adventure as she is. Though having a home to return to would be more than ideal (less hiking that way, more resting). How long has it been since Astarion had somewhere he could call home? Somewhere that wasn’t a dungeon or a jail. How long has it been since he’s been allowed to go where he pleases, when he pleases, how he pleases? They could go anywhere. Excitedly, images of Waterdeep, Chult, Neverwinter, Avernus, even, pop into Astarion’s head. Orlando stifles a chuckle from beside him, beaming brightly at the vampire’s enthusiasm.
Wyll’s speech comes to a close. Duke Ravenguard instructs his son and his companions to rise from their seats so that the citizens might thank them one more time. The audience chamber is filled once again with raucous cheers. Looking around, Astarion sees the faces of his fellow adventurers. His friends . He sees the faces of his fellow Baldurian’s, jubilant and proud. Astarion feels simultaneously overwhelmingly full and painfully empty. Cheers ring in his ears and it's as if all of Baldur’s Gate is pouring itself into him. The world is ahead of him. Life is ahead of him. Freedom. But there is something terrifyingly vacuous about knowing he is free. With both everything and nothing to look forward to. Where do they go from here? Astarion’s veins fill with an icy cold at the thought of having to carve out a life for himself.
Orlando gestures for Astarion to lean down, crashing her lips to his in a passionate kiss, thawing the anxious chill that had begun to numb his fingers. Astarion pulls her close, caught up in the exuberance of the moment, caught up in the reminder that he is not alone. Karlach, beside herself with excitement, tears in her amber eyes, pulls the little group into a massive, crushing hug. Warmth spreads through his body, fills his limbs with a tingling joy. Wyll squeezes Astarion’s free hand, presses soft kisses to his, Orlando’s, and Karlach’s cheeks. There is uncertainty, and that is the only thing Astarion can, funnily enough, be certain of. But in this moment, he is reminded that he will not be facing his uncertain future alone.
“Our home,” Astarion repeats to Orlando after a little bit, having to shout over the roaring applause, “Our adventures.”
“Our future,” she returns, stealing one more kiss before the adventurers are led out of the audience chamber, followed by shouts and cheers. People spill out into the streets, ready to spend the remainder of the night in carefree revelry. Astarion pauses at the threshold, the shining city of Baldur’s Gate ahead, his nearest and dearest companions at his side.
Deep breath. Release.
Wyrm’s Rock exhales, and Astarion is free.
A/N: Hello, everyone! I wanted to write a post-game story for my Tav, Orlando (a Sorlock), and Astarion. I've been a little bit all over the place with writing down her story (as in, I can't seem to write it down in any particular order). I have a couple things up on my Tumblr about her and I do plan to write a story that takes place during the events of the game. But for now, I had an itching to write some post game content, so here it is.
Some notes: this occurs post-game with Vampire Spawn Astarion, Orlando and crew managing to stabilize Karlach's heart (which I wish you could actually do in-game), and Wyll managing to rescue his father. Orlando was severed from her Warlock patron with the insertion of the tadpole, but has since reunited with her patron, M'aheth (the baby of another Great One patron called the Cosmic Sea). She comes from a family of Sorlocks that worshipped a cruel Fathomless patron, but Orlando managed to sever her ties with her family and the Fathomless. She and Gortash were trapped in the HOH together and were in an on again/off again relationship for many years. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'd be happy to answer. More info to come. I mostly wanted this story to be about her and Astarion adjusting to living a life of freedom. Most of this story will be about Astarion, but I wanted to give a little context for some things mentioned in this chapter.
*Edit (02/09/24): Changed a line about Gortash’s death.

i saw you are accepting requests for moonwater x reader! id prefer female!reader but obviously if you dont do that gender neutral!reader is just as perfect.
i was thinking like a hurt/comfort thing where the three are just lounging in remus’s dorm and reader starts getting anxious and they like calm her down/talk her through it?
obviously, if you dont like it or just dont want to write it you dont have to!
thank you for the request!! I hope you like it, its short but I tried my best<33
Anxiety winds/ Under the weather
poly moonwater x reader!
Summary: The readers being traumatised by some conditions that killed her loved ones.
Warnings: none really, js a whole lotta fluff.
NOT PROOF READ.
y/c/f :you comfort food.
note its a one-shot but with a Prolouge.
PROLOUGE
After finally graduating from hogwarts, you moved into your boyfriend's apartment. The three of you really needed to get put pf your houses. Regulus's being walburga-affected, Remus's horrid-memories affected and yours- well, you didn't really have a house, you lived in an orphanage, your parents had kicked the bucket in a car crash, while you were at your aunts house, your parents were coming from their respective jobs, It was a stromy, windy day and so the car had lost control. Your aunt really disliked you since you were magical (she was a muggle), so she threw you in an orphanage.
So now you were here. With your boyfriends in a cosy little apartment. They were both on job. You hadn't gone to yours since you were a little under the weather. But the thing was today was your parents' death day. The day when your parents died. But what was even worse was that it was extremely windy today. And you were home alone.
The windows snapped yet again. Your heart beating ever so quickly. You had tried everything, yet you still couldn't feel comfort, wrapped up in the regulus's blanket and with y/c/f. It had been 4 hrs already, and you were scared out of your skin. You looked at the clock. They should have been home by now. You tried not to think about the worst, but you just could not stop. Finally, you brought yourself to call them, but just as you feared, they didn't pick. Neither of them. You wanted scream, shout, cry, but your throat had become too dry. You just froze on the spot, not moving, tears fleeting out of your eyes. A few minutes later, you felt the need to get up, but as soon as you got out of bed, you fell down. You felt useless. You lost your parents. You lost them. And it was best to just leave it. Forget it. You sat on the floor crying.
You woke up with your head in regulus's lap. While remus cold compressed you forehead.
They didn't realise you were awake as they talked to each other in low tones until you jerked up.
YOUR OKAY. OH THANK GOD. I WAS SO WOR- You continued but no ine could really understand as most of it was muffled by your sobbing.
Shhh...its okay baby, we are here now. Remus said as he placed you on your lap. A scarred hand running comfortable rounds on your back.
Why d-did you gu-uyzs n-not pick my phone?? You wanted to sound angry but you were crying a little too much for that.
I told you my magical box thingy is not working, princess. Regulus explained
And apparently mine had died. Remus added.
Sorry we couldn't contact you. We know it was a hard day for you. Regulus said who was on his own verge of tears.
Its okay. You sobbed. Can w-we just sleep?
Of course, baby. Remus placed you on the bed and laid next to you. And so did regulus.
Tho the window was still snapping, but you still fell asleep, not because you felt safe but because you knew the people you loved were safe.
A/n: I hope yall like it. It's def not the best since I'm writing on my phone, and I really just wanted to get done. Also, send in any requests I will 'get em' done, i write for almost all Harry Potter!
Also tell me if yall wanna be tagged in vibrations or chaos, they will be coming out soon

CW: mentions of drinking, drinking games
The sound of the door opening didn’t rouse Remus from his slumber on the couch, but the sound of the door closing did.
Remus sat up quickly and immediately regretted it; his back twinging in pain from the crumpled position he had fallen asleep in waiting for your return home.
Remus’ heart swelled pleasantly at the sight of his book having been plucked gently from his hands and his place marked with a Tesco receipt after he had fallen asleep with it in his hands, very clearly Regulus’ doing.
Regulus seemed to have fared better than he, still (appearing as though he was) passively reading from his book even at the sound of you struggling to enter your shared flat.
His heart shrunk right back down to normal size, however, when he went to stand to greet you at the door and his boyfriend stopped him with a gentle but firm hand on his wrist.
“Sh.” Regulus said, looking past Remus to the hallway you had yet to appear from.
“What?” Remus whispered back, still slightly confused with sleep as it slowly left his body.
“Just listen.” Regulus insisted, placing a bookmark in his own novel before shifting to give Remus (and the still empty corridor) his full attention.
Remus listened bemusedly at the sound of your heavy breathing and what sounded like you trying to take your shoes off. His fingers itched to help you with the buckles he knew always gave you trouble, but he acquiesced to Regulus’ narrowed eyes.
He heard what sounded like you leaning against (falling into) the wall with a quiet yet surprised “oh!” slipping from your lips, causing Remus to smile.
His smile grew when he saw a matching one on Regulus’ face.
After hearing your shoes be tossed aside, you clumsily headed towards the living room when you tripped (over likely nothing) causing you to teeter into what Remus knew to be a coat rack which gently bumped into the wall. “Oh, fuck shit balls.” You scowled quietly before you broke out into a fit of quiet giggles.
Regulus’ hand came up to his mouth in a failed attempt to smother his own laughter as your giggles turned into a reproachful “sssssshhhhh” at your own expense.
“Is she shushing herself?” Remus asked Regulus which was answered with a nod of his head yes as his shoulders continued shaking.
Finally you turned the corner of the living room, sloppy gaze surveying the room as if confirming you weren’t about to be scolded for stealing cookies past your bedtime.
Suddenly, your eyes fell on the forms of your two boyfriends, and though Remus couldn’t see Regulus’ face with his back turned to him in favour of facing you, he could only imagine that his smile was half the wattage of Remus’ own.
“Hi!” You whispered in reverence at them, as if still attempting to tame your enthusiasm for the sake of your other non-existent flatmates.
“Hi, dovey!” Remus cheered and made for you, pulling you into his chest where you all but melted in your drunken state.
“Hi!” You cheered again; giggles muffled into the fabric of Remus’ jumper.
“How was your night, amour?” Regulus asked as he stood, barely pausing to press a kiss to your head before making his way into the kitchen.
“Good!” You cheered, clearly only willing (or able) to come up with one-word answers for your boyfriends.
That was fine by Remus, he’d spend the next four weeks slowly coaxing the details of tonight out of you if it meant he got to keep holding you like this.
Remus chuckled fondly and placed his umpteenth kiss into your hair. “Did you have fun?”
You let out a pleased sigh which seemed to cause you to deflate further as Remus struggled to keep you upright.
“S’much fun.”
“Oh, for heaven’s- come on, amour.” Regulus admonished as he re-entered the living room with a few tablets in one hand and a glass of water in the other.
He put both down in favour of hoisting you out of Remus’ faulty grip and helped you sit back onto the couch where you sloppily beamed at the two of them.
“Hi.” You repeated, cheeks flushed from bashfulness or from drinking, Remus wasn’t sure. All he knew was that you were fucking adorable.
“Hi, amour.” Regulus said again, obviously just as willing as Remus to speak to you in only greetings for the rest of the night. “Think you can drink some water and take these for me?” He asked as he held out the glass and tablets.
You seemed nearly too eager to obey and nearly soaked the front of your dress as you brought the glass to your mouth and drank greedily.
“Easy dove, don’t forget to breathe – no, not at the same time.” Remus scolded, cringing as you nearly choked.
You pulled the glass away and heaved in dramatic breaths as if you’d been holding your breath since the moment you walked in.
“Wow.” You said dopily. “I was really thirsty.”
“I can get you more, cheri. Take the medicine first.”
Your eyes opened comically at that as you looked to Regulus bewilderedly. “Why do I have to take medicine? Am I sick!?” You asked, eyes suddenly glassy in a way Remus did not like.
“No, no dove. It’s preventative, so that you don’t get sick.” Remus placated, sharing a startled gaze with Regulus.
You sighed in relief and opted not to ask any more questions as you took the pills, which both boys were thankful for.
“I’ll go get you more water, love. Rem, do you think you can help her upstairs?”
“It’d be my pleasure.” Remus said shooting you a wink. Usually, it was very hard for Remus to fluster you, but right now you looked like you could melt into the furniture from the slightest glace at him.
He loved it.
He loved you.
The stairs were a bit of an issue but the two of you made it up them eventually with perhaps only one bruise to Remus’ shin for your efforts, which Remus considered a victory.
You were in one of Remus’ t-shirts and sat on the edge of the bathroom counter when Regulus walked in with a full glass as well as a jug of water. You looked like you could cry at the sight of it.
“Thank you.” You cooed around your toothbrush as you used your free hand to make grabby motions to Regulus.
He was quick to obey your wish as he moved to stand between your legs and brushed some of the hairs away from your forehead. Remus took your moment of distraction to brush his own teeth
“I’m glad you had a fun night, lovie.” Regulus said quietly, pressing a lingering kiss to your head.
“Me too.” You hummed in agreement.
Regulus took a makeup remover wipe and began working at your face as you continued brushing.
“Who all was there?” He asked conversationally. You turned to your side to spit and rinse so that you could tell him.
“First it was just me ‘n Lily ‘n Marlene.” You slurred slightly, closing your eyes like a cat getting scritches on their forehead as Regulus worked your makeup off.
“Mhmm, but more showed up?” Regulus continued.
“Mhm.” You parroted. “Then Dorcas and Mary came before Pandora and Barty showed- showed up.” You explained, having to pause for a tired sigh at the end of your sentence.
Regulus’ hand froze in its task of removing your makeup to look at you incredulously, causing Remus to choke on his toothpaste as he laughed.
“I thought you said it was a girl’s night?” Regulus asked plainly.
“It was.” You responded quickly.
“And you said that meant there were no boys allowed.” Regulus continued as Remus spat and rinsed.
“Right.” You agreed.
Regulus sighed in exasperation. “Then why was Barty there?” He deadpanned, cautiously resuming clearing the makeup from your skin.
You scoffed dismissively. “Barty doesn’t count.”
“Why doesn’t Barty count?” Remus asked, though he clearly found this conversation to be much funnier than his boyfriend did.
“Just doesn’t.” You said with a shrug, sleep stretching the vowels out funnily as you swayed slightly with your eyes closed.
“Well...that’s just not fair.” Regulus said simply, discarding the makeup remover wipe. Remus pouted commiseratively at your dejected face at the sudden loss of Regulus.
Remus was quick to correct that as he wet a washcloth and grabbed your facewash.
It was a very awkward way to wash your face in this way, but Remus was more than happy to have another excuse to touch you – he wasn’t ashamed to admit that he missed you while you were out.
“And did everyone else have fun, dovey?” Remus asked as Regulus took his turn to brush his teeth.
“Mhm. We went to three different pubs, and we danced, and we even sang karaoke at one of them! And then Barty would scare away the guys who tried to dance with us, which was very nice of him.”
Remus beamed at you even though your eyes were closed as he massaged the cleanser into your face.
“That was very nice of him, remind me to thank him next time I see him.” Remus replied, shooting Regulus a cheeky wink.
Regulus rolled his eyes and finished brushing his teeth, letting out a long-suffering sigh as he “supposed Barty could attend girl’s night if he really wanted to.”
You named all the songs (that you could remember) that you had danced to or sung tonight as Remus and Regulus helped you finish your skin care routine and climb into bed.
“Oh! And then we played this drinking game called Medusa, where you all look up at the group at the same time, and if you make eye contact with someone you have to shout Medusa and drink!” You mumbled excitedly as you snuggled into Remus who was curled up behind you and you pulled Regulus’ arm into your chest like you were snuggling a teddy bear.
Remus could see Regulus’ lovesick smile as he used his thumb to move some of your hair away from your forehead.
“Yeah? Who lost?”
“Barty.” You answered quickly.
Regulus’ eyebrows furrowed but the corners of his mouth twitched in the ghost of a smile.
“Every time?”
“Yeah.”
“How’d you guys manage that?” Remus interjected from behind you, placing a kiss on your shoulder.
“We all decided to look at Barty every time we looked up, that way he’d always be looking at someone and he’d always have to drink.”
Remus let out a boisterous laugh as Regulus chuckled and pulled your hands to his lips in order to kiss your knuckles.
“You girls are menaces.”
“Yeah.” You agreed on an exhale, melting into the mattress as sleep pulled at your consciousness.
“Perhaps it’s better we don’t get invited to girl’s night, yeah Reg?” Remus mused quietly over your head, reaching out to caress Regulus’ face.
“Better Barty than me, I suppose.” Regulus mused, pressing a kiss to Remus’ palm before reaching over to turn off the lamp.
You must’ve already been close to sleep because you whimpered pitifully at the loss of Regulus.
“No, no, amour. I’m right here, tu vas bien.” He cooed quietly, pulling your arms back into his chest. “I love you.” He whispered, punctuating the sentiment with a kiss to your nose.
But you were already asleep.

It's finally two weeks until the end of this year at Hogwarts. Class times have been filled with going over study guides and reviewing for the final exams only a few days away.
Neither you nor Regulus have said yes to staying at Potter Manor this summer. Despite James being very adamant about it.
“I’ll just mention you blokes might be joining us.” James told you when you visited Gryffindor table one morning, as he wrote his parents.
“James-”
“No, no, let ‘im. No harm in it? Is there?” Sirius cuts you off, feet extended to rest on the bench across the table from him.
“But Mrs. Potter shouldn’t prepare an extra room if neither of us will be joining.” Your points are acknowledged when James hums to confirm he heard you, but his quill never stops moving.
Remus has been looking at you the whole time. Not in a creepy way, you're both pretty sure not in a creepy way at least. Just in an undivided attention way. Practically ignoring the other two boys to admire you, other than when he occasionally slaps away Sirius’ hand on his fifth attempt to grab Remus’ food.
You look down to where Remus sits as well. Honestly, he's not that much shorter than you sitting down, but wherever. Your hand that's not holding the strap of your bag gently scratched the hair at the base of his head before kissing his cheek, mumbling a small promise to see him during your study time later.

It's not like you don’t want to go to stay with everyone else. It’d be amazing; it really would. But the idea of going when Regulus stays at the Black House feels wrong. You know being with your parents won’t help him, nor will being at James’ house, but it feels wrong.
Remembering how destroyed he was when Sirius left. When he came back to school, you two hadn’t known the Marauders like you do now. The anger he knew was misplaced, but he couldn’t help but feel abandoned by Sirius. You remember it—the crying, the way he couldn’t focus until a month into school. And you remember Sirius being disowned.
And maybe that's part of it too. The idea of being disowned. Even if you know they are horrible people, people you don’t wish to be related to. The idea still makes you sick. Their horrible and evil, but dear Salazar, parent approval is so addicting and you hate how much you still want it.
So which is worse, feeling like you betrayed one of your boyfriends, or your parents disapproval?
“Regulus?” You keep your voice low in the library. The aforementioned boy looks up from his textbook sitting across from you. Remus, next to you, pauses, moving his quill to focus on you two as well.
“Yes?” His voice matches yours, despite being a little more stiff.
“I wanna talk about it again. About James’ house.” You rush the words out. Probably because you know Regulus will want to shoot it down immediately.
“Love, you know I’m not going.” He sighs, sitting up straight in his seat.
“Why? Why not go?”
"Dove-" Remus tries to interject, not sure how well direct confrontation will go after Regulus has already denied it far too many times.
“What would I do?”
Both you and Remus pause, looking right at Regulus. Who stares right back at you.
“What do you mean?’ Remus says what you think.
“I leave, I get disowned, I lose the family fortune.” There are unspoken words there; everyone knows. He loses the Black name, he loses the reputation, and he loses everything he ever knew. Sirius had always wanted to leave; he had dreamed about it long before the possibility ever even crossed Regulus’ mind. The older Black had an idea of what would happen long before he left. Regulus hasn't gotten that right.
“We can figure it out when we get there, love.” Remus rests his quill in the small ink pot, reaching both his hands to cup Regulus’ hands between his own.
All three of you stay silent for a second, Regulus looking down at Remus’ hand covering his own, you staring at Regulus, and Remus looking between the two of you, trying to figure out what to do.
"If..." you sigh, shifting in your seat, “if... you go... I’ll go, and we can figure it out together.”
Gray eyes shoot up to yours. “Are you serious?” His voice is unsure, like you're going to take your offer back for no apparent reason.
“Yeah. I’m scared too, but I don't think I can bring myself to go back, not this time. But at the same time, I won’t be okay with going if you don’t go.”
Remus takes a deep breath, one hand still holding the younger boy's hand, other moving so his arm wraps around your shoulder, gently rubbing your upper arm. “So, it's settled. I can tell James.”
“Thank you,” You whisper, and Regulus takes one of his hands from the lycan to intertwine your fingers.

The letter felt wrong to write. Less than a week before you're off to Potter Manor is when you get a response.
You're sitting at the Slytherin table in the morning when the letter holding their response arrives. Your owl landing smoothly, unlike the poor Hufflepuff owl you see sly head first into a game of Wizard Chess.
The seal of the letter belongs to your family, and it's painfully obvious. Regulus had gotten his response within a few days. Hurtful and harsh, despite never reading it yourself.
Looking around, Regulus is watching Barty, who is sitting on the long table rather than at it, cast small, mostly-hopefully harmless jinxs on a few older Gryffindors who haven't seemed to notice who's doing it. While Evan is whispering more and more jinxs for Barty to use.
Deciding that you might as well get it over with, you break the wax seal. The letter was nothing but vile, as you expected, the threats, the anger, the disappointment. Yet, you are honestly relieved. Like a huge, bolder is off your back. Sisyphus would envy you.
"And what do you have? A secret admirer? Are you planning on finally leaving the wild beasts you call boyfriends?"
Barty turns his attention to you as you finish reading, snatching the letter to inspect it.
"Ew, is that from your parents?" Evans nose scrunches up, noticing the names signed at the bottom of the parchment when he leans over Bartys shoulder.
"Yeah, I wrote them last week that I'd be staying with the Potters this summer, and they finally got back to me." Your voice remains surprisingly even, despite feeling somewhere between calm and like you're going to vomit, cry, and punch a wall.
Evan and Barty continue to scrutinize the letter, the phrasing, and how your mother writes the letter S weird. While Regulus leans closer to you.
"Everything okay?" His quite, a stark contrast two the boys sitting acorsd from you as Barty pushes his boyfriend off the seat for something or another and Evan kicks a little too close to Bartys dick.
"Yeah, it'll be okay." You hum, scooting closer to the pale boy, "would you and Remus want to come stay at my dorm tonight? At least for a little? Serenella and Iris are both going to be out all night."
"Of course, love. I'll grab Remus after charms and we can meet you there before dinner?" A soft kiss is placed on the top of your head when he finishes his sentence.
"That sounds good."
The peace of the situation is cut off by Barty falling off the table towards you, taking you down to the floor with him.
"God damnit Barty!" A smile far to big for the situation paints your face face.
"Evan threw me, gem! He tried to kill me! I'm wounded." Barty sits half on hus knees, half laid out on the gross Hogwarts in such a pathetic manor Regulus chuckles under his breath.
"And I'll do it again idiot!" Evan sits back on his spot at the long table. Huffing while smoothing out his hair and uniform.
"Oh God, gem, I won't make it." Barty throws himself onto you, your back to the ground as you laugh. "If I die will you leave your loser boyfriends to join me and Evan?"
"Okay, junior, that's enough." Remus appears in your vision, slightly nudging Bartys side, like touching him too long will make whatever is sodding wrong with the boy rub off on him.
"Hello, big boy." Barty stands up and takes you with him, dusting off his and your clothes. "You know, both of you could leave Regulus and-"
"Okay Barty!" Regulus pushes Barty to sit back down, shutting him up as he begins to bicker with Regulus next.

Omg that moon water fic sounds so much fun, tell us more about it 🤍
Ahhhh, my first ask being from my idol on tumblr 🥹 It feels like I'm talking to a celebrity ngl-- Hang on, this is me when I got your ask:
Tumblr media
The moonwater fic was actually requested by @starchaser-lily (I promise it's coming, I'm sorry it's taking so long 😭). I'm planning on posting it some time this week, the week after being the latest.
I'll admit, it was only through their request that I found out Remus x Regulus was indeed a ship, and I found it extremely adorable. The amount of ideas that flooded into my mind?? It seemed never-ending. But to actually imagine these two characters actually having an interaction with each other that eventually ended with a confession of sorts, it only made sense to me that there's angst.
A good story is determined not only by the way it was written, but also by how much thought went into creating the characters. And considering these aren't mine per say, rather they're my interpretation of what the character is like; there's definitely slight pressure on me to get this right. Yes, this is just a oneshot but doesn't mean I shouldn't do a character analysis first to give it some... definition.
Sure, you can throw in the usual angst and fluff template- but where's the fun in reusing it again? I've read a lot of angst and fluff fics and there's not enough development in character to actually feel like 'Oh, this fic is different.' It felt like I was reading the same thing just either shortened or lengthened. We need the garlic bread with our soup ✨
So things we will see in this oneshot is seeing Remus's uncanny ability to put someone at ease, and to trust him to an extent. That charm we all fell for while reading the books and watching David Thewlis bringing Remus to life onscreen. How Remus is able to sort of manipulate people and how he controls everything around him, you know?
And given Regulus's conditioning with his family (like we can even call them that), I would like to think there will definitely be certain comments thrown about. Not necessarily kind ones either. Maybe he means them, maybe he doesn't... we shall find out :)
I want to say more but then I feel I would just spoil the whole fic and there wouldn't even be a point for me to post it ;-;
But what I can spoil? Grab a box of tissues and strap in because it will be quite emotional. When I write, I really write. I'm a flighty writer, so I can write 1000 words easily and still feel like it isn't enough.
Also, now I know why you say we never bother you with asks, because they are indeed fun. So please people, ask me stuff, it's fun.
