Jungkook's GOLDEN moment

Or, the media journey of our Golden Boy's debut album, and what it all means.

This post grew out of a question that popped into my head a couple of days ago.... "what are we really getting on 3 November?"

Sometimes ADHD is a blessing. Other times it's a curse. It all depends on your perspective.

I was going to write a few words - just share an idea - but part of my day job is getting the facts right (and doing the research and validating information) so what started as a quick idea has grown into a long, long story.

As I said, ADHD can be a blessing. I may have resorted to cutting my own hair yesterday because I keep forgetting to make an appointment with the barber, but I can go without food or sleep if something sparks my curiosity. And this has. And the good news is, I'm sharing all that with whoever wants to read it. The other good news is that fortunately, hair grows back.

So I suggest you either grab a snack and get comfortable, or skip to the end to read my conclusion. Because in Tumblr, as in life, my ability to talk nonstop for hours about random shite is unmatched.

Where did all this begin?

When did we first hear about Jungkook's debut solo album? I believe the original announcement came from the annual forecast/investment report documents, which I found out about via tw in May this year.

Jungkook's album was officially forecast for release in the fourth quarter according to the HYBE and Hanwha Investment report.

We were all thrilled and excited! I certainly was.

JK's voice is the aural equivalent of an ice cream sundae - refreshingly cool and softly warm, and multi-layered with all the fancy toppings. He can do pop-sugar sprinkles, he can do fancy slivered almonds, he can do spicy peaches in brandy, lit on fire.

His voice flows into your ears, sweet and hot, just like him.

It was good news but not surprising. Because by the time that report came out we had already had albums (or news of albums) from Hobi, Namjoon, Jiminie and Yoongles. We had figured out they were all going release something. It would have been odd if Jungkook DIDN'T join his bandmates in this. ARMY knows he's a prolific and talented songwriter from way back. He's been writing and producing songs for BTS's albums from as far back as 2015. With instant ARMY favourites like Still With You, Decalcomania, and Your Eyes Tell to his name, Jungkook's album was an exciting prospect.

In June and July, rumours about the album surfaced:

On 4 June, Korean news website Sports Chosun, released an article about Jungkook's debut album - claiming the release date as 14 July. The article toted an English song on the album as 'a huge hit'.

BigHit responded, slapping the news website on the wrist and stating that THEY would make announcement when the release date was confirmed.

ARMYs and everyone else lit up the ether with chatter about the announcement, but where many news sites were simply regurgitating the Sports Chosun article, we were wondering where they got that information, and why they were talking about this English song being a hit as though that would be something new for a BTS song.

Um... do you know BTS?

Fast forward to 14th July... and the release of SEVEN (ft Letto).

A single, not an album, but it was HUGE.

Most ARMYs loved it but some were shocked... at the revelation that their darling Jungkookie is in fact a horny young man who enjoys pleasures of the flesh. And thank god he does, honestly, because the thought of his youth and beauty being wasted on abstinence is devastating to me. He works too hard not to enjoy a good fuck - hopefully seven days a week.

We all know the explicit version had a few people clutching their pearls and petticoats, but on the whole the reception was good. SEVEN (ft Letto!) sailed majestically to the top of the charts all across the globe and settled in alongside Like Crazy as a long term resident on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jungkook travelled abroad for the promos (with Jimin) and sang his song everywhere from New York to London.

But he also visited us, often.

He made time to chat for hours with ARMY, telling us how much we mean to him, and how he has decided to trust himself, and how he hopes WE would trust him too. He told us over and over that he has decided to do what he wants. That this is what he wants. That he hopes we love it.

It was clear he was having a lot of fun with SEVEN.

The MV, and the making of the MV, were a hit in themselves, and we got to see JK's acting chops (clearly SO MUCH better than Yoongi's he told us).

And then came more news about the album...

It wasn't long after that, only three days in fact, before another article about his upcoming album surfaced. This time it was on the (apparently very factually reliable) music news site, Hits Daily Double.

The article sat strangely askew for many ARMYs. For OT7 fans of BTS it felt more than a little off.

From the opening sentence...

Jung Kook's "Seven" f/Latto (HYBE/Geffen) set records in its first 24 hours on Spotify.

...to the brazenly competitive comparisons with BTS and the other members achievements, the tone of the article was smug and divisive and frankly not very Bangtan.

For a short puff piece, it managed to put a good half of the fandom's nose out of joint. I have no doubt that was the intention, that it aimed to sow dissent and push JK ahead of his members in ARMY's - and the world's - eyes. We weren't mad at JK - far from it - we could see right through the writer's intent. And we knew who was behind it...

Enter stage left: The Villain, Scrotum Balls

"HYBE Chairman Bang Si-Hyuk's trust in HYBE America CEO Scooter Braun is continuing to pay off. Braun found the song and connected Jung Kook with the Grammy-winning Producer of the Year he reps, Andrew Watt."

Did SB write this bollocks himself?? What a twat, seriously.

But wait, there's more...

"Those involved with Jung Kook's forthcoming debut album, which will be an all-English effort, are very bullish on the project and see it as a pivotal moment in the BTS solo campaign. Jung Kook's embrace of sexuality and profanity is giving new life to BTS fans..."

This is where it all starts going a little pear shaped. I can almost see the smile melting off Jungkook's face as he read this article.

Not a word about the themes this album would explore, or the music itself, or even a word from the artist. Just SB crowing about the 'project' that those involved were so bullish about.

In other articles on this site from the same time, Jungkook is referred to as an alumnus of BTS, and the erstwhile bandmate of V. Both of these terms insinuate that he has left BTS, which is very misleading.

At that point, some of us were very worried. It was starting to look like Jungkook himself was the project - a little project for SB to use as a self promotion tool. The sacrificial lamb he was going to offer to the gods of commercial radio and the plastic world of pop stardom to redeem himself for the absolute fucking mess he made when he tied up his label's artists with red tape and held them hostage.

Did anyone watch the movie TAR?

Spoiler alert, but the main character Lydia's attempts to regain her influence after she destroyed her own empire, are not dissimilar to SB's. The only way she could rise from the ashes after figuratively burning her house to the ground, was to reinvent herself in a new environment. She started over, with her trademark ego-driven confidence not dented in the least, believing herself the ultimate maestro as she took on a new project to mould into her image of success.

The parallels are uncanny.

Moving on...

Suchwita with Jungkook was revealing, in that it revealed nothing...

Specifically the nothing that had happened with the mini album!

Jungkook said he hadn't started working on the album, he was still searching single #2. He said after the second single he would release a mini album in November.

"Are the songs for the album ready?" Yoongi asked.

"No" replied Jungkook, "I have to start working on them now."

At the time Suchwita was filmed, Jungkook had yet to start working on the songs for the mini album he was due to release in November.

In a previous Weverse live he also said he hadn't started working yet. He had no songs. The extended break was so good that he would have been happy to keep resting, until SEVEN came along.

Confirmed in the AUDACY interview in NY:

In his interview with Audacy (recorded around 14 July in NY) Jungkook's message was consistent with what he said to Yoongi.

There were 'no specifics set yet' when asked about an upcoming album... certainly no mention of ALL ENGLISH SONGS.

When asked "How do you want to make your solo work special and unique to you?" Jungkook responded that he didn't want to chase anything. That he 'wants everything to become special naturally, because he does his best.' He says SEVEN wasn't released because he had specific plans, it just happened. He wants the next song to come along naturally too.

That's a very different message from the brash, aggressively confident stance taken in the Hits Daily Double article - I think we we can safely assume they were SB's words - and it's also not shining a light on SB as the hero of the moment the way the article tried to do.

Jungkook had either not been briefed on SB's vision for the album, or he wasn't on board with it. Either way, the album was not mentioned again until early October.

Let's return to Suchwita and to Tae's interview.

*this is focused on the conversation about JK's album, no disrespect to our smooth operator.

"This album is the last solo album," says Yoongi.

When I watched this episode I first thought Yoongi was talking about the order that the Suchwita episodes were filmed, when he said Tae's album was the last. He clarified in the next sentence that he was talking about the release date.

"You're the last one," says Yoongi.

&lt;<Wait... so what happened to JK's album?>>

"That's right. I feel so much pressure," continues Tae.

"Everyone was like, I don't want to be last," laughs Yoongi.

What Tae says next is pivotal:

"But if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have released it. I would have said I'm sorry, but I can't."

Oh really?

So THAT'S AN OPTION? He could say "No, I don't like it so I'm not releasing it."?!

They go on to talk about promotions for all the members and how they differed, as though everyone else has done all the promotions they have lined up, but all I can think about is...

Did Jungkook say NO to SB?

Maybe he hadn't agreed to anything when that Hits Daily Double article was published. Maybe SB shot his mouth off before JK had even listened to the songs he was proposing. Jungkook told us he's doing what he wants to do.

Maybe Jungkook didn't like the songs, or the direction the album was taking. Our Jungkook can be stubborn and he knows his worth. Maybe he said he didn't want to be SB's little project?

That would explain why we heard nothing else about his *All English*mini album. Between July and the announcement of the release date in early October, there wasn't even a whisper.

On 3 October, Hits Double Daily released a second article:

The tone of this release couldn't be more different from the first article.

No mention of SB

No mention of ALL ENGLISH

Jungkook is suddenly back in the BigHit stable, whereas before he was being associated with Hybe/Geffen

The source is clearly stated as BH

The forceful language of the first article is notably absent. This piece is purely factual, short and to the point.

Tags for this article are: JungKook, BTS, GOLDEN, BIGHIT. Compared to the first article which was additionally tagged with HYBE, Geffen, Scooter Braun, Bang Si-Hyuk, Andrew Watt.

This sentence: Jung is known as the “golden maknae” (“golden youngest”) of BTS. Suddenly Jungkook is back in BTS (as opposed to an alumnus of BTS). His status as the maknae also firmly grounds him in his Korean roots, a fact which was hardly mentioned in other articles. (and they got his name wrong ffs...)

There's also the MAJOR fact that unlike SEVEN, Jungkook is performing the debut of this album in Korea, not in the USA. That also says to me that SB is not involved (or less involved).

Other evidence of Jungkook's autonomy in this, is his unexpected performance of Still With You at the GCL concert. You could tell he was nervous, he lost his performance presence a little - standing awkwardly with his hand on his hip - and I think it was because there was something more at stake with that performance. All my fingers and toes are crossed for it's inclusion on the album.

Where does that leave us with GOLDEN?

My conclusion is that there has been some level of disagreement between SB and Jungkook about the album. And that Jungkook has stood his creative ground (YES!) and put some distance between himself and SB.

I fervently hope this is true.

Remember that Yoongi said Jungkook is the most talented musician he's ever met.

Yoongi, who I would trust with my soul even if he had horns and called himself the prince of darkness.

Yes, Yoongi said that.

Yoongi who works with dozens and dozens of musicians including 6 of the most successful artists in the world...oh, and PSY.

The suggestion in the first article - that Jungkook's debut album was being designed with strategic market-oriented goals in mind - was so disturbing, when we know what a brilliant artist he is.

Sure it would be advantageous if Jungkook could access the networks and opportunities that come with an association with SB.

But if having an introduction to SB's circle means he's handcuffed to the strategic vision of a person who sees music as a corporate commodity, and Jungkook as a project, I truly hope he said 'I'll pass thanks.'

And let's not forget the album went from being a mini album (2-6 songs) to ELEVEN songs. In my minds eye I see Jungkook saying 'you think I can't come up with a whole album in two months? Hold my beer.'

Jungkook doesn't need SB to be successful...

He is after all...

Vent about the RP community in general under there.

A lot of people like to say that they don't care about your aesthetic or how your blog looks as long as they like your writing style and can see your muse interact with theirs. This is false. Just because a blog looks good aesthetically, like a really nicely edited pinned post, a really fancy carrd, fonted and colored writing style, small and nice icons, does not make them a good writer. They can still be illiterate, keep repeating same words, not be creative. But that's not what matters for most people from MY EXPERIENCE that I've seen. But they always seem to get a lot of followers and a lot of people want to interact with them. However, you can be the best writer, someone who makes the roleplay fun, exciting, someone who makes people eagerly wait for a reply. And if your blog doesn't necessarily look fancy, it's a higher possibility you won't get a follow back. This is very sad. And I'm speaking from experience because I fell for this before too. Just because someone doesn't have cool gifs and small icons doesn't mean they don't put in effort. maybe they just can't. Maybe they don't know how to. And just because they do put in that effort, doesn't mean they can write that good. This is not to down anyone, I promise. I'm just speaking from what I have observed. I've had tons of mutuals on here who didn't necessarily have anything fancy going on. And I would see them keep making starter calls and ask for interactions. Then I look at fancy blogs and they speak about how they got tens of threads, hundreds of asks, they're getting overwhelmed by it, which is really nice, I suppose? It's so cool that people want to interact with you that much! But if your blog was half as fancy, would they? Please think about this guys. And please give people chances and actually read their writing instead of just seeing their promos and stuff and decide if you want to follow or not based on that. I hope no one takes offense to this, my fancy blogged, colored writing mutuals I love you all so much. I'm just talking about how unfair it is around here. Because it's so sad to see people who write so well get little to no interactions because their icons aren't nicely edited, you know?

Belated Happy New Year, all! Hope 2024 is a good one for you all ❤️

So as some of you may have noticed, I haven't been around/online for several months (and really, I've not been properly on Tumblr/Discord for the past year or more). Usually the reason is "I've been busy, but I'm fine" but the truth is that, this time, I've.... ummm.... not been fine ☹️ I don't want to go into too many details on this website, but 2023 saw me struggling with a health problem all year that I'm waiting for major surgery to resolve, but my surgery keeps getting delayed. NHS waiting lists are horrendous right now, even though I'm on the "urgent" list ☹️

Upon returning to Tumblr/Discord today, it does almost seem as if Dragon Age fandom has nobody left in it – almost everyone I know in DA fandom has departed for pastures new – but I want to let you all know I'm still very much in DA fandom, I've just not always had the energy to interact or create (or the time to come online recently). But I hope you've all been doing well! Missed you all! ❤️

Anyway, for now, I'd like to let you know (when I muster up the energy to do so / remember how AO3 works) I wrote a short fic for the M!Handers Zine in autumn 2023. I'll post it to AO3 and make a separate Tumblr promo post for it when I have time/energy – hopefully by this weekend.

Is it financially viable?

In my opinion, yes but you and I may be at very different stages in our lives. Are you a student? A parent with young children? Are you struggling to pay the light bill? Do you have time and energy to throw into writing daily or nightly around real life? These things matter.

Could I live off what I'm earning since I started self-publishing nearly a year ago? Hell no. I have a very good full-time job with benefits and an excellent retirement package. My husband and I have both agreed I can't walk away from that for anything less than six-figure earnings but I can say our mortgage has been covered by my writing for the past six months. That's meaningful to us and worth my time and effort.

Does success happen? It does but I won't sugarcoat it. For every Lucy Score, Cora Reilly and T.L. Swan, self-published romance authors who are millionaires, there are thousands out there who are making much, much less. From $20 to $10,000 in a month, it varies widely! But there are things you can to do increase your chances of hitting it big.

Also, I should mention that Amy and I are Amazon exclusive, part of their Kindle Unlimited subscription service. The good part about that? We earn 70% of our sales versus 30% if we were classified as Wide authors (people who can publish elsewhere like Smashwords, etc). The not so good part, you're very dependent on Amazon. For now, it's worth it for us and the (very different) niches we chose do well in KU.

Startup costs -

KEEP IT MINIMAL! I would not throw tons of money into fancy formatting software or professional editing if you're looking to self-publish your first novel. Do the work yourself, take advantage of free resources, sites and tools and see a profit (hopefully). I published my first book May 31st last year and I had made up my initial startup costs by the time my second book was released in late July.

What you actually need..

Royalty free images to make covers - $40 and up, up, up

Catch deals from Deposit Photos. Twice a year they do a deal through appsumo where you can get 100 images for $40. It's a steal of a deal. GIMP is free software you can download to make covers. Find YouTube videos to show you how. It's all out there and free. But it takes effort. Sorry, no shortcuts there :)

Reader Services - $10/month

Many, many self-published authors use bonus stories or free stories as Reader Magnets to draw readers and future fans to their newsletters. You need a system to funnel those readers and collect emails. Bookfunnel is who I use. Some of their services are free but you pretty much need that $10/month to make use of the good stuff. They also offer author swaps and newsletter building promos if you want to grow your list of followers. StoryOrigin is an alternative site some people use.

Newsletter - $0

I use Mailerlite which is free up to 1k subscribers. There's also Mailchimp. You can have freebie landing sites from Mailerlite. I haven't bothered with a paid website domain yet but I know this is something I'll need to look into soon.

ARCs - $10 to $20/month

Booksprout is the one I use. There are probably others. I think it's about $10/month for the beginner subscription to get those reviewers. I'm using a mid-list author plan now ~ $190/year. Some niches make use of SM more for this.

Advertising - $0 to thousands

Don't bother until you've got a book or two out there (come ask me if you get to that point). I'd say the only advertising you should focus on to start with is your passive marketing - your blurb, your cover and the keywords you enter on Amazon that make your book discoverable. Beyond that, paid advertising can wait.

However, you can use Tiktok to get your book noticed. Amy is learning the ropes of this and we've both seen people whose sales have skyrocketed thanks to one or two good Tiktoks to draw readers. One person made $10k in a month off of ONE good Tiktok. Other SMs have their successes, too. This is not an area I excel at though. I'd need one of my kids to teach me more... lmao.

Finally, I'll say, I didn't go into this thinking it would make me rich and famous. I wrote 3 million words of Jonsa out of love over the course of five years. I've written 350k words of original fiction the past year and it's paying the mortgage. Thankfully, I love what I'm writing and I've set myself a five-year plan for my 'side hustle' to see how I feel in 2027. We'll see where I am then. Fingers crossed I can claim I'm a six-figure author!

But what you can achieve in self-publishing can be phenomenal if you're writing to market (giving romance readers those tropes they love and hitting the expected story beats) in a genre and niche that has hungry readers. Our discord has verified tiers so people who say they're making 50k in thirty days aren't just blowing smoke. They've proven it. Imagine making money like that and then, if you're at a point in your life where you want to try, GO FOR IT.

hi, and welcome to the 'frequently asked questions about cooking is terrible' post! some of these are scattered in other places around my blog, but i figured i'd collect them for ease of reading. if you want to read the promo post about the book, you can go here.

is cooking actually terrible/how can you say you hate cooking/cooking is an art form and you're disrespecting it see, the thing here is that i'm actually a good cook! i've cooked for a living before, i'll happily pull together a meal for fifty with twenty-four hour notice, and i love a cooking project. i love cooking for community. what i fucking hate, though, is having to somehow produce food for myself, and then consume it, multiple times a day, every day, for apparently the entire rest of my life.

some people love cooking, and i genuinely admire you. sometimes i don't mind it or even enjoy it, and on those nights, i don't need this book. sometimes i'm too tired or in too much pain or too busy playing a video game or too depressed, though, and the idea of spending thirty minutes making food i don't care about makes me want to walk into the sea, and on those days, yeah, cooking is terrible.

is this book vegetarian friendly? yes! there are a handful of recipes where the point of it is meat, but probably 90% of the book is either vegetarian or has options to make it vegetarian. i was a vegetarian for about a decade, and still tend not to cook a ton of meat because the cost of messing it up is so high. there are a number of recipes that call for things like 'chunks of chicken or tofu', but tofu is cheap and delicious, so i'm just as likely to use that as i am chicken.

is this book vegan friendly? maybe. if you're comfortable with things like vegan cheese and plant-based yogurt, the answer is probably yes. the biggest issue for vegans will be dairy, but there are a lot of good vegan dairy replacements out there.

is this book friendly for [basically any other dietary restrictions]? yes again! everything is designed to be pretty flexible. if you're comfortable with the basics how to substitute things for your specific needs, you should be fine with this. (by 'basics of how to substitute', i mean 'tamari instead of soy sauce' or 'gluten-free noodles' or 'sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter' level of substitutions.) i have severe food allergies, so am very much on board the substitutions train.

is this book useful for people with chronic pain and/or mental health issues? you are very literally the target audience, because i, too, am a disabled person with chronic pain and adhd and other assorted mental health issues. when i started writing this book, it wasn't a book—it was a text file that i could read over when my brain wasn't working well enough to provide me with instructions for complex tasks such as 'make sandwich'.

is this useful for people living in [almost literally anywhere in the world]? unless you live in a place where you can't buy staple foods like rice, beans, and vegetables, it's probably useful. i've personally bought everything mentioned in the cookbook at stores in the us and australia, and have also checked availability at tesco and rewe. there are sometimes minor differences in what things are called, and occasionally one thing or the other is entirely unavailable, but probably 99% of ingredients can be easily purchased in most supermarkets.

do i need to have fancy appliances for this to be useful? hard no. there is zero slow cooker, instant pot, stand mixer, or even rice cooker content in this.

i assume that you have a knife, a bowl, and a source of heat. some things are easier (or nicer) if you also have a $20 immersion blender (mine's from kmart), but that's as fancy as we're getting. i wanted to keep the barrier to food as low as possible.

is it easy to modify recipes in this? yes, and a bunch of recipes are either lists of suggestions (sandwiches! rice toppings!) or have variations listed.

what kind of recipes are in this book? there's a range of them.

stuff that needs no cooking at all—sandwiches, dips, smoothies, salads, etc.

bowls of stuff: pasta, rice, soups you can make in ten to fifteen minutes, oats, etc. using ready-cooked rice or pasta is 100% fine by me, so this focuses pretty heavily on quick and easy toppings.

stuff you cook while you watch netflix, like 'throw this into the oven and then ignore it for an hour'. more importantly, lists of ideas for how to use the things you cooked.

baking and desserts, none of which require more than about five minutes of hands-on work.

if this list is insufficiently convincing, i've also put up a couple example recipes here.

which storefront/format is best? honestly and truly, on my end, it doesn't matter that much—after various fees and things come out, it's within about 50c of each other for ebooks, and maybe a dollar for physical books. amazon currently nets me slightly more than other retailers, but that's changed in the past and will likely change again.

on your end, amazon is probably the cheapest way to get a print copy (and—in the interest of full disclosure—is slightly more money for me, as well). amazon's printing costs are significantly less than anyone else's are, so the book is cheaper there.

why are there so many price points? this is partly because publishing at this point is several business models in a trenchcoat, and partly because retailers can set their own prices and discounts. if you see very low prices, especially at big vendors like amazon, they've decided it's worth it to sell the book at a loss. i have no idea why, but i get the same royalties from it.

if you see very high price points—like $40+ for the paperback version—it's because the vendor is using a traditional-publishing business model and pricing accordingly. please do not buy this book for forty dollars. anywhere in north america and europe, the paperback should be between 10 and 20 of the local currency (dollar, pound, or euro); australians might see it as high as $22 because it costs more to have things printed here.

i want to reiterate: please do not buy this book for many tens of dollars. one, maybe two tens, fine. but forty is as many as four tens, and that's terrible.

is there a print version of this book? i used to get this a lot, and then there was an amazon-only paperback version and i got it less, and now there's a paperback version that you should be able to buy anywhere you buy books.

worth noting is that the available print versions are not spiral bound. if you would like a spiral bound copy and you feel strongly enough about this that you'd like to have it printed and bound yourself, the digital versions (most usefully the pdf from gumroad) have an explicit 'please feel free to print or have this printed' release.

Just some thoughts on our boy, Terry.

First of all, how rad is this promo art???

Season 4 gave us so much to think about, and the dynamic between Claudia, Terry, and even Viren set up an interesting web of plots. There are a few directions that the writers can take this in, and I want to make a prediction now and see if it'll come to fruition.

For the record, I'm a huuuuuge fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and many of the fundamental people behind TDP also worked on ATLA. In fact, I feel like TDP 'feels' similar to Avatar, more so than Legend of Korra (not sure if this makes sense, but I've said this to a few people in the past and they've agreed with me. But that's another conversation...).

So if you're familiar with ATLA, you'll be familiar with these crazy kids here...

And you'll be familiar with their dynamic...

...and their betrayal of Azula.

So the reason why I bring all of this up is because...

I think Terry may jump ship from the bad guys, and join the Dragang on their quest.

So here's the thing.

Obviously, Terry loves Claudia, and Claudia loves Terry. But there is a good, good person in there. We see this at the end of S4.09, where he makes a point to tell Claudia his thoughts about his treatment of Rayla.

"I've seen you do a lot of awful things. Dark magic things. But I always believed in you because you had a reason. But what you just did...the way you tricked that Moonshadow Elf. It was just...cruel." (Terry, The Dragon Prince - Season 4, Ep. 9).

First of all, good for Terry for being Claudia's conscience. Second, Terry clearly has a moral compass. And I think the Dragang's beliefs more closely align with his own. Claudia seems to think that elves believe humans are inferior...thanks to Aaravos' influence, of course. And the Dragang is trying to bring about peace between the elves and humans.

And what does Terry want? He wants Claudia. He loves Claudia. And I think he's going to side with the greater good in later episodes because of his love for Claudia.

This is all speculation. I could be so wrong that this post will come back to bite me in 6 - 12 months and I'll look like a fool. (Also, please don't let the next few seasons take that long to release!!!)

I'm calling it now. Terry's gonna switch sides, ya'll.

And Claudia...well. It may sway her too, or it may cause to her go truly, utterly berserk. We'll just have to wait and see.

Star Wars Book Cover Overview

The Twitter User "SCentralized" inspired me with his "if this Star Wars show/movie were a Book of Expanded Universe in the mid 90s" Covers to do a little overview of Star Wars cover designs.

In this post I will go through these Covers. I hope you have fun with it!

1970s / 1980s:

The first "era" of covers I would call the "Classic SciFi Cover " era. It includes the novel adaptationsof the OT as well as "Splinter of the Mind Eye", "The Han Solo/Lando Calrissian Adventures" The covers are designed the way sci-fi novels often looked at the time.

The 1990s

Things got really fancy in the 90s. The covers of the "Movie Poster" era look like the posters of Original Trilogy. That may be due in part to the fact that Drew Struzan designed some of those covers. The books of this era are works of art and the cover alone makes you want to read the book.

1999 - 2005

That changed in the early 2000s when the Star Wars publishing rights went back to Del Rey. This "Early Del Rey" era is dominated by 2 cover types: Promo images of the movies put together in Photoshop, and abstract illustrations that sometimes looked really good, sometimes weird. This era spanned the entire period of the prequels' release. 1999-2005. The prequel era books mostly featured promo images and the "New Jedi Order" series, also released during this time, featured illustrated covers.

2006 - 2009

From 2006 onwards, there was a mixture of Photoshop, but also a return to illustrations and, for a short time, 3Dish models. One example of this is the "Darth Bane Rule of Two", Fortunately, this trend was quickly discarded.

2009 - Today

In 2009, the "Fate of the Jedi" series started with an interesting cover design. Personally, I'm a big fan of it.

From then on, the focus was completely back on illustrations, and it has remained that way until today.

Every now and then, however, there are "relapses" into the past. For example, Star Wars Brotherhood or Jedi Battle Scars.

Of course, this is only a selection of covers and not all covers were and are the same - that would be boring. But it is interesting to see what "trends" there were and are.

I have some ideas, they’re mostly Twitch-based though so some might not apply for other sites. Unfortunately I mostly play by ear when it comes to streaming. I don’t know how to specifically help with whatever this audition is but hey

I’d say one of the best things to focus on is audio quality as that may make or break if someone wants to keep watching a stream imo (aside from just chat engagement or general interest)

You don’t need to get fancy expensive microphones, just a decent one. Balance volume, and filters like gain, noise suppression, and noise gate to limit background noise but be heard clearly.

Eventually I want to do this too but you can try making whatever room you’re in have better acoustics. You shouldn’t need expensive acoustic foam, there’s other DIY alternatives out there that I haven’t fully looked into yet.

Unless you want to go for the aesthetics and can afford it then I can’t really stop you.

(And maybe you actually have furniture in your room that breaks down sound better than my barren echoing living space)

Don’t feel too discouraged if the spike of viewers comes and goes. And don’t feel bad about self-promo because people wouldn’t know they can watch you if you never say anything about it

Having a friend around doesn’t hurt. Mine have helped with feedback on stream quality, and general levity

Don’t feel like you need to put on a boisterous entertainment persona as that might get draining; it may take a while to find a comfortable streaming mindset but you’ll get there

Be sure to check your moderation settings, especially auto-mod if you don’t have someone to moderate for you. Consider things like nightbot or streamlabs cloudbot for further moderation and custom commands. Take advantage of Twitch extensions; some give chat more to do and look at

If you want to be more personable to an audience, encourage conversation when you can. Like asking questions back and bringing up discussion topics. (be mindful of parasocial relationships though, both ways. how often chat talks doesn’t define your worth)

Something something, eye-catching overlays but not being too crowded to watch

I’m sure there’s other ways to improve quality like bitrate, fps, internet connection (ethernet is most recommend), but I can’t think of anything else specific at the moment, or it depends on your programs and specs.

It took me about a year before getting into a comfortable groove so pretty much don’t give up and try to have fun with it

If anyone else knows any good videos or other tips for this anon, leave a comment or something. I know I’m definitely forgetting a couple quick tips I would’ve answered a different time.

Not quite as fancy as my 911 or tgd ones lol, more like the normal ones, just with the end of a liveblog as well :).

I made a post about this before coming back to this one, but happy 100th episode all!! Lowkey forgot this was the 100th anniversary lol. But it makes so much sense and it was a GREAT 100th episode :D.

I love that everyone had their little moment (at least): James with the music, Wesley with Oscar, Luna with her college classes, etc :). And just Randy, Chastity, Oscar, and Henry BEING there lol. Though to clarify Oscar was not at the wedding xD. But seriously, I really loved all the cameos and little character moments this episode :)).

Also CHENFORD AAAHHHH!!! Their MOMENTS this episode y'all I was losing it xD. I do kinda wish it hadn't been that Tim isn't supporting her despite thinking he is, though? Because the vibes last episode were just really on Tim's side, I guess, and now they're just tossing him into "bad guy" a bit. But, I think it'll work out in the end. I'm also glad Chastity brought up that Lucy could also be scared! I think that's a real possibility :). Anyway, they were ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE and whether it was the first time in universe or not, WHOOO FIRST I LOVE YOU!! And it was so cute :'D. Also the dance 😭😭😭❤️ stop I'm not okay :').

BAILEY AND JOHN ARE MARRIED!!! WHOOOOOO :'DDDD!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🎊🎉🥂🎂🥂🥰❤️❤️🥰. I'm so happy for them :'DD

They might not be my favorite couple on the show but I still love them and this has been a long time coming. I'm also glad that despite all the issues they still had the wedding and everything was okay and beautiful 🥰🥰. Thank goodness they actually had it and we saw it lol (looking at you Wopez - still mad at the writers for that). Also I'm SO EXCITED for the next episode with their honeymoon :D.

I felt so bad for Celina and Aaron this episode 😭. Aaron because poor boy is going through it and misreading signals/situations xd, and Celina because she's trying to be there for him and do what's best and she as also, you know, kidnapped and beat up xD. But, I think they'll make it through it :).

Really though Aaron you need to talk to your therapist 😭. It's dangerous going out when you know you're not healing :(. Hope he learns it soon D':.

I loved all the togetherness moments this episode!! The bachelor and bachelorette parties (y'all I can't articulate it beyond loving individual characters and them all hanging out but oUAGH chomping on it)/last minute preparations xD were SO GOOD!! And the wedding, especially the dancing :'D. AUOGH, I love them <333. And of course the final mission at the end - they slay together :DD. Also, I'm glad Celina's okay :')).

Don't even get me started on the Wopez/Wesley angst. Y'all I'm about to have so many thoughts about them moving forward (even more than usual/always xD). Like! AUGH! OSCAR!! SITTING ACROSS FROM HIM!! DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE WAITED FOR THIS

[[ let me preface by saying that this definitely is a ramble, but I really do appreciate the patience and kindness so many of you offer me. the fact that so many of you are here and so overwhelmingly positive in the little corner I carved out for Katie and myself means so much. 💙 each of you have never made me doubt about how much she means to you or your muses, or how much we mean to one another behind the screen as friends and writers developing our nostalgia better than the author or show/movie creator does.

while this post summarizes it well, the last few months haven’t really allowed for me to return to writing like I keep wanting needing to because IRL keeps adding more to everything else happening right now (I might detail it later but just know it’s been A Lot.)

I recently updated my rules to reflect this so here is a summarized version --- I have been formally (yet only recently) diagnosed with a neurological / sleep disorder has brain fog, excessive daytime sleepiness, and other symptoms accompanying it. my energy level when writing, plotting, or even casually talking out of character, is going to be sporadic. sometimes I have plenty of ideas to plot with, but not enough energy to type all of it; sometimes I think I already answered a thread / message / ask only to find out that I didn’t (thanks, brain fog) or I never even received a notification (thanks, tumblr). sometimes it means taking awhile to check out the about and rules of new followers. I’m currently in the middle an uphill battle with this condition and medicine / treatment, but please know that if I follow you, I want to write / plot / talk with and get to know you and your muses, no matter how long it may take me to personally gather enough spoons to do so. since I know that the blue hellsite sometimes causes stress for people, I’m also open to writing and plotting on channels through D.iscord. ;;" (though it’s set up under my personal info not Katie’s.)

I still have plenty of my own headcanons and development for Katie that I want to bring from my behind the scenes to this blog’s center stage, regardless of how big her role is in P.JOTV. I really hope that the new year will bring more consistency with my writing — for Katie, Colton / my sideblog, the multi which I hope to launch in the new year — and mean it since I know that I have been saying this for awhile now (:upside down face:) — whether it’s on tumblr or D.iscord, fanfics, and especially with the original works — and hopefully better health.

I'm going to be visiting some family for the new year (and finally watching PJOtv — while also missing my pets 😭). I'm also going to be hopefully have time to begin looking for loose threads / starters in this blog's labyrinth, into new followers, tweaking tags if needed, and adding final touches to the multi (even if it still doesn't have a fancy promo, oops). how does one correctly format a post to promo their ao3 fanfic? asking for a friend who is new to tumblr

I'm sorry for answering late. I did think about this question so hopefully it can give you the traction you need. There is, I think, no one way or correct way of promoting a post...without having to pay for it (i definitely don't know if that's possible but I'll assume you came for how to boost posts organically)

If you mean to promote someone's fanfic on a post, the 3 best things that I think work are:

1. Tagging, like tag the most noteworthy keywords about the fanfic. Tumblr's search system is a little...meh, so use the most popular tags you know of, in accordance to the post/fanfic/content

2. Curating the look of your blog. Tumblr still has elements of old school blogging type of way. If you're here to help boost fanfics you like and for a friend, make and edit the appearance of your blog! You definitely can describe all the things/fandom you're into. You can also add warnings, such as saying 18+ or the triggers. Totally up to you.

3. Liking/reblogging other people's content that calls to you also helps, so your username and activities are seen by others. Tagging and even crediting that reblogged content pushes their name! To me, this is like just paying kindness forward. We are all pushing our content to a non-existing algorithm here 😅

The 3 things I mentioned work for most types of posts. If you want, you can try to find very specific fanfic blogs. Approach them kindly if you wanna boost a fanfic. And engage with their content, like/reblog/comment if anything suits your fancy.

Again I will say this is what I do and I personally don't know the most foolproof way in tumblr.

You can definitely keep asking around what they do, especially the ones who handle fanfics. I'm sorry to tell you I haven't totally spoken to one who archives/blogs a lot of fanfics but I'm pretty sure they don't bite.

I've been around the tumblr rpc since around 2014, so I've seen a lot of changes (both good and bad), but one I don't really get is the fancy borders, icons, and promos. Don't get me wrong, they're really cute and aesthetically pleasing but I also think they're kind of distracting. If you use them and love them don't let me discourage you, I just don't think they're for me! I also just don't really have that kind of time to put into my roleplay blogs (again, if you make your blog look super cool and unique the more power to you!) Another thing is just posting musings and face claim gifs but not actually writing anything in character. I won't follow you if you do that, I'm not really here to look at character gifs.

Forget all about fanon. Before anything else, I cannot iterate how desperately I urge you to forget any and all fanon takes of the character of Kafka if you choose to look through my blog. I do not adhere to 95% of the fandom's takes on Kafka. But it's also incredibly important to note that I am exceedingly canon-strict, which means that, well, apparently fanon and I just strongly disagree; this seems to be a consistent thing with me. My portrayal of Kafka touches on a modern woman, meshed in with a very archaic and conservative traits and tropes. She is not a dominatrix, she is not power-hungry nor does she flaunt her power, she is not a hater of men, she is not some sex goddess, and by all that is holy and unholy, Kafhime will not find any sort of reign here. In other words, please take Kafka's own words before you dilly-dally your way through my blog: you won't remember a thing except me. In other words, forget everything fanon has ever taught you.

Mains. I practice them, and you can find all the information needed over here!

Shipping/Romance. I'm exceedingly particular about ships beyond canonically confirmed pairings, and quite honestly, while I write my own fair share of romance-oriented threads and love to do so, I don't go out of my way to seek to write such material. Now, Hoyo is rather good at keeping a lot stuck in insinuations, but I am an avid shipper of both Kafblade and KafCae. If these aren't up to your fancy, that's quite alright, I have tags that I tie to all posts that relate to either that allow you to blacklist them if it's preferable to you. Any judgment will be promptly deleted, as I'm quite frankly not here for it. Now, I'm not stuck to merely to those ships, but I'm a very firm believer in chemistry, development and realism. It is worthy to note however, while I can ship Kafka perfectly fine with women, I do not ship Kafhime, nor am I fond of Kafstel. No, in regards to the latter: I don't hate women, I simply think that there's an immense significance to the power dynamic when it comes to Kafka.

Social Politics/Etc. This is incredibly simple: your mess is your mess and it is no one else's. Take it to the dashboard and I will unfollow you. I'm too old and too tired for this, I don't do and never have done call-out culture, I don't do anon-hate, I don't do pettiness, guilt-tripping and quite frankly, I have zero interest in seeing people take advantage of having an audience of followers to air any kind of dirty laundry in front of. I'm simply not here for it. In other words, I will unfollow you if you're guilty of any of this. And also, as it's happened in the past— I do not and will not engage in white-knighting of any kind whatsoever, and this rule counts, again, regardless of my connection with you.
