Hope y'all had a FANTASTIC Christmas 💖

and wishing you all a Happy New Year (+ personal update lol)

It may seem like something so small to get emotional over, but Christmas Eve, I burst into tears at having something ~resembling~ a living room for Christmas, AND seeing my desk space finally all set up and running. It has been a heck of a rough time these last 17 months since we moved into our new place, not to mention the 2 rough af years leading up to it. I included some images below from throughout for anyone curious (or just wants to see my cat in a t-shirt 😻), but big ol' venting rant under the read more, sorry if you open it but you've been warned LMAO.

We moved here in August 2022, and these pics really are only a small fraction of everything we've had to deal with. From plumbing leaks and years' worth of water damage, to mould-filled walls and a condemned boiler. TWO GAS LEAKS. One dangerously malfunctioning stove. The fear of potentially dry rot-infested joists. From ripping up and re-laying multiple floors (with more to still do...), to ripping out a fireplace and rebuilding entire walls. Having no bathroom to call our own and having to share my mother-in-law's tiny annexe en suite for 5 months. Having to ask permission to have a shower. Having no bedroom for 4 months and having to squish three of us into my daughter's room—the confinement of which stressed out my cat, Mina, so much that she overgroomed herself to baldness and required a shirt and then a babygro (even if she looked beautiful in them LMAO). THE FLEAS. My god the fucking fleas the previous owners left here.....

From a family of starlings deciding to nest in our eaves and wake us up ~every morning~ with the dawn chorus, to finding (no pics, I promise!) FIVE mummified rats in the attic and needing the whole thing ripped out, sterilised, re-insulated and re-boarded, two pigeon skeletons behind the fireplace (complete with a moth invasion that had been feasting on them 💀 nature, man... so fucky). Needing to get a whole-ass loft hatch installed in our bedroom ceiling because mice were getting in and we had no access to deal with them. R A T S. RATSSSSSSS. *shudder*

So many IKEA furniture building sessions lmao. 10 new doors installed throughout the entire house (with 2 more still to go). New boiler, new water tank, new radiators. New carpets fitted throughout upstairs. Every single room repainted. Cutting and fitting skirting boards and coving ourselves, the latter during a bad bout of medicine-induced low blood pressure, 0/10 do not recommend lest you want to almost pass out standing on a ladder over a flight of stairs... 💀 Honestly the number of things that could have literally killed me this year. Like the incorrectly wired socket that the live wire fell out a centimetre away from my finger........ EVERY SINGLE job we've done to fix or improve this place has been hindered and tainted by the incompetence and cost-and-corner-cutting of the previous owner, taking way longer and costing way more than it should, and/or literally endangering us all. Pretty much everything above was caused by them. Eg. The leak in the bathroom coming VISIBLY through the living room ceiling that they left unfixed for 4+ YEARS MINIMUM that they PROMISED us they'd fixed 🙃🙃🙃

And through this all, we've had no living room or really any downtime space, apart from my husband who has had his office. I've had to move my "desk" (an IKEA table that just about fit my PC+Monitor that bruised my knees to sit at) around like playing musical rooms, until our bedroom was ready, then me and my daughter "relaxed" in there for the last 9 months. The only TV we've had was "shared" with my mother-in-law in the kitchen (aka it's all hers lol).

A lot of this is complaining about first-world problems, I know, I know. We have a roof over our head and are surviving a cost of living crisis that is destroying the lives of many others. But tbh, the last 2+ years of my life have ~rewired my brain~ entirely because I have been in a permanent state of stress combined with an unrelenting limbo. Just... existing. Seeing the light at the end was impossible at times just from the sheer overwhelming amount needed to be done. We are still not finished. But having a living room, unfinished as it currently is, finally feels like that turning point. Having a SOFA HOLY SHIT. Having a space for me and my daughter and my cat to properly ~unwind~ each day. Just being able to have a Christmas tree and presents under it, even if it's not the full-size one we were meant to have, it's still not the tiny 2-foot one stuffed into the kitchen corner we had last year. Mina finally getting free roam of the place the last few days has lifted my soul so much, she's so happy just getting to sit with us and chill.

Bonus; in the new year, I'm finally getting my heart condition fixed permanently, AND then should be starting medication for ADHD.

So yeah. Here's to a turning point, a New Year's start that feels, for the first time in a long time, like a hopeful one. And I really, really hope that translates to more time here going forward, because what little I have been able to do has kept me sane. It'll likely still be spotty for a while, there's still so much to do, but I'm on track now lol.

Thanks to @authoroflight for the original template! (Though I might have customized it beyond recognizability ksdjgnsd)

2023... I got a lot of art done this year compared to past years! Though the year started out slow, between trades and commissions, the first quarter of the year somehow managed to have at least one good drawing a month, even if March's old-sketch-paintover looks a little strange next to all the creatures. XD; May and June continued the theme of painting over old, though June's original was considerably newer than May's. It also took me forever to find it!! Several of the ones I'd been going to put for June turned out to be from different months (no date on them so was going by modified date at first, oops!). And in July of course there was the Clysmia comic, August with the Choco 'comic'. September was another low but I managed to churn out another paintover. October of course had my annual flower-drawing saga with the last one featured here, and in November I got bored and drew Comet, and December held a delightful surprise in the form of a book-illustrating commission. :3 Gonna keep that one to just a preview since it's part of something that'll be published.

But! Let's go through all the rest. Keep reading for more on the rest of the pieces.

January - This was a secret santa for my good friend @toothpaste-dragon of her OC Baz! Love this grumpy crust of an alien. :D You can view the full pic here.

February - This was a commission from @dreagonarchives of her guy Guido! Full pic: x

March - Paintover I did of my character Sleepi from Torn Apart! Since it was done over an older pic the style looks a little incongruent from my current style 😅 But this was also almost a year a go now, so, y'know.

April - My half of a design trade with @chrystallink! Doggos are a bit of a challenge for me, but it was a fun one! Full pic: x

May - A fittingly sunny pic of my character Nola. This was another one that I think had started from a paintover and just went places from there. Still a little strange-looking, but oh well. Plus a photo of some sunflowers in the background. XD

June: Progress pic of an absolute freak. An attempt was made to sketch out a hand to keep it from hiding, but I never did get back to this pic... 😂

July: As mentioned above, a comic for my good friend Dia featuring her gal Clysmia!

August: The tail end of a final ArtFight attack against Chocobir! I had so much fun putting in on the Easter eggs, and Choco is so cute!

September: The suave business lizard himself, it's Nell! Another one that's painted over an older sketch. Overall I think I improved the face shape a bit since the sketch? Maybe?

October: The final flower from Floratober 2023! I had a lot of fun and it was so great getting so much feedback this year. The wonders of posting on places other than Tumblr! lol.

November: Comet from Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san! Whenever I need to get away and draw, Comet is there as my comfort anime. :) It's been a while since I've drawn the girl and watched the last bundle of episodes!

December: And of course, December's art! From a very fittingly snowy-themed project. :) I don't know yet how much I'll be able to talk about it, but it's certainly going to keep me busy for a while!

It's a very special girl's birthday!!!! April 1st is Cere's birthday!!! (Lei's best girl 😤😤😤)

So of course, I had to try to draw her as cute as possible to celebrate! It's not very good but I even tried drawing a hand... that's how you know I really tried this time LOL . Her hairstyle changes slightly every time I draw her but I think I've more or less settled on the bang style I'm going for with her.

Did you notice that there's a theme going on for the birthday art I've been drawing? 👀 Lei's friends are all wearing white turtleneck shirts and Lei's children are wearing black turtlenecks.

You will see the twin's birthday art in May as I've already drawn Ceres (M)'s birthday art in January... one of the hottest anime boy pics I've ever drawn frfr

Of Lei's friends... in 2024 I drew Vail and now Ceres so there's one more mysterious (?) friend to draw who will appear in August 👀 I already drew Lei and Elise in 2023 but I'll redraw similar outfits for 2024 heheh so wait until then >:3

There's another favourite I want to draw in June but they're not really a Lei close friend... so I wonder how I'll do the bday art for that char? 🤔 There's also bday art I wanna draw for someone in Oct... and since I missed it last year another in Dec 😭 Too many things I want to draw so little time.

I've been sewing so much that I keep forgetting to take pictures and post an update about my progress. In the last five days since my last post I have:

Hand-sewn the final hem for the overdress!

Sewn on the round flat beads at the wrists and the lacing points to the ends of the front laces!

There's one small adjustment I'd like to make to the neckline trim, and then do the beading on top of it if I get time, but for now I'm calling the overdress officially done. (Though certainly in need of a good ironing.)

With that checked off my list, it was time to turn my attention to the underdress -- in the two pics directly above, I had the underdress on the hanger with the overdress so I could mark how much length to remove from the neckline, armscye, and skirt hems.

Buuut since I also needed to cut some silk organza for the overlap flaps at center back of the underdress, I also took a small detour to make a little bag to carry all my stuff around at con:

It's lined with the same organza as the underdress is made of, and has pockets for my phone, card case, and purell, and a bit of space besides to carry other stuff like chapstick and whatever else. If I end up with time at the end of the month I might fancy up the drawstrings a bit, but eh the whole point was to have something simple that will hold my stuff and blend into my dress. (And then I pattern-matched on the side seams anyway because I have zero chill.)

With that out of the way, it was time to really focus on the underdress. I got those flaps for the center back cut out and sewn on, and all the raw edges finished since they tend to be a bit itchy. Once those were on I was able to mark out how much I wanted to remove from the neckline and armscyes so that they don't stick out under the overdress, trim those back and start handsewing them down. As of tonight the armscyes are done, and the neckline is trimmed and ironed into place (which was more of a pain than I thought, and took almost an hour all on its own) and the handsewing started:

That lowest part of the V is actually center back, and the darker section folds over to overlap with the other side. Once the neckline is all in place I'll tack down the pointy outer corner (and the matching one on the other side) to the edge of the neckline. This will keep the neckline nice and fitted, but let the center back section open freely so the whole thing goes on over my head easily. It'll also give a nice, opaque, no-skin-showing underlayer right beneath the back lacings of the overdress, without actually having any closures of its own.

Once the neckline is done and the back flaps tacked down, it'll be time to really finish up the seam finishes that I've been handsewing off and on since, oh March or so, lol. I have all of them finished to about hip level, and since the skirt seams all are straight, I'm hoping I'll be able to iron them in place and either handsew them much faster or just machine sew them, we'll see. Last thing for the underdress will be the hem for the skirt, but since the overdress's hem went fairly smoothly with fabric that is much more fiddly, I'm hoping that the hem for this one will go pretty quick, too.

There's one bit of construction that I need to do for the jewelry, and I need to finally actually style the wig, but I'm starting to feel close to the finish line for Rhaenyra. Like I said earlier, I would really love to get the beading at the neckline done too -- but not as much as I would like to have all my other costumes pulled together, so that will definitely be a late August thing, if I get to it at all.

Ideally I would like to have all of the underdress sewing done by Thursday or Friday so that I can shift gears and start working on sewing the shorts for my Harley Quinn mashup. I've got five four weeks and a couple of days to finish everything, so if I can spend one week on this underdress, one week on Harley Quinn, and one week on all the wig work (five in total), I'll still have two weeks and change roughly 10 days to get to all the various detail work that I've been putting off. I'll try to remember to take pictures and post updates as I make progress!

omg so ,, i was trying to figure out what i was gonna make this guy WEAR on this "date" and i def had the choices of the christmas in august concept photos, so basically his outfit is inspired by the all white glitter concept lol ANYWAYS i once read on reddit abt how really rich people have like,, very subtle things that make them really rich. apparently they don't usually flash their money, but u can see hints of their wealth in how they don't really worry abt price and they focus on quality esp. a lot of yada yada stuff but i promise it's relevant!

and obviously, bc eric is really rich in this fic, he knows how to dress well and has the means to dress well. all the jewelry to tie his outfits together, the nice, effortless quality to all of it. not just the massive house and land itself, but the fact that he uses a grocery app 😭 sorry, i always get groceries myself so i can check quality and prices, but since ik eric can't really cook, he uses a grocery app to buy a hundred dollar bottle of red wine for dinner 😭💀

OKOK MOVING ON LOL but as i was writing the section on describing his house, i realized that i really wanted to enforce the fact that he came from a loving family. like,, i feel like rich families r always stereotypically depicted as cold and distant from each other, but i wanted him to be so full of love yk? and so obviously i pointed out a lot of details to make this happen, and that in itself seems to brighten up the setting a lot lol

oh yeah, and the paying for dinner thing HAHA i just had to put that in there, he's totally the type. also, callback to the "honey" nickname, both from yn and eric—its a word of endearment i often use too, and it just feels natural w him. anyways lol this is getting kind of long

Lol August is my birthday month, but it's a BIG birthday and Tears of the Kingdom comes out this month, so... early birthday present time! 😁

I've had the eldest since she was twelve weeks old! She is turning 18 this month, so it IS her birthday month. She is absolutely my baby, half the size of the other cats, and she is a royal terror. She has a furious screech that sounds like it is coming straight from hell.

The fifteen-year-old is the diabetic and is Missy's grandkitten. She WAS my sister's cat, but when it was discovered that she inherited Missy's flea allergy, she became my cat, as I could better care for her. For the best, considering the health issues which have since popped up (diabetes but also chronic urinary issues). She's a good girl and insanely stubborn.

The youngest is turning ten this year! He was just a street kitten when I got him. He literally fit in my hands. The vet thought he was a female kitten at first. Now he is a massive boy with mid-to-long fluffy hair. He is also a coward and has had panic attacks at the groomer and vet. When he settles on my chest, it's hard to breathe. Lol

Here are some pics! Dresden can be difficult to take pics of... and yes. Dresden is in a box on a table. It is one of his favorite places in the world. And Missy is very happy in that picture. She just has a resting bitchface.

I told myself I'd turn this into a tradition, so here I am throwing all my art in one place again.

All the art featured here is what I had on my art flash drive since that's mainly how I keep track of when I drew what.

Explanations for all the boxes under the cut:

January: Ok, so, turns out I didn't draw shit in January except a fun little doodle of Goldic (the character) fighting one of my friend's ocs. Not gonna throw it down here because it was for a friend. (I also never finished that one thing I was eluding to in the last progression post, big sadge; it would've been so funny if I finished that, or at least enough of it so I could put the other half at the start of this one)

February: Ah yes, playing Uno with Silent Magician and Silent Swordsman. The best way to spend Valentine's Day, tbh. Oh yeah, the GoldicSoulless emote also came into existence.

March: Oops, didn't draw anything. And if I did, I doubt any of it was Tumblr-worthy.

April: Oops, I did it again. I just didn't feel like drawing around that time. It was a nice art break, I guess.

May: Back to drawing and I... didn't draw much, but I did draw a redesign for Moon! ...That I never shared until now:

I also designed regional variants of Riolu and Lucario for fun (and for my fake region, Avnou, that you don't get to hear any infodumps about yet, I'll share that when it's more "complete"; Riolu is Ghost type while Lucario is Ghost/Ground):

June: PRIDE MONTH, WOOOOOOOO- *ahem*, I drew a lot of shit in Pride Month, like: - Me holding my giant af flag made of multiple flags - Note and Symph being cute and gay - Mew and Mewtwo designs for the comic I didn't make yet - A bunch of Pikachu sketches for no reason in particular - and this as a little treat for myself since Sonic's Game Anniversary and my b-day are so close together (literally two days apart):

July: My current profile pic was drawn here, as well as a new (and currently unfinished) ref sheet for Goldic! Here's what is done right now:

though, I'm tempted to just redo it again with all the improvements I've made to my art since drawing this...

August: I just drew a bunch of doodles around this time, tbh. I even colored a couple of them. Also drew Angora again:

Beyond that? Nothing of note.

September: Cyno. Just Cyno. Definitely my best attempt at soft shading in recent memory. Also, you're not tripping, I did design an Ash (and Goh) for that Mewtwo comic I didn't make yet (Ash's design is a mix of his Unova and Journeys designs with some creative freedom mixed in; Goh's ref isn't done yet, but he does have a doodle here!):

October: I... didn't draw shit in October, but I did draw some all-digital doodles with my mouse! (because no art tablet, lol); I can't share most of it because Angst and NSFW™, but I can share what I haven't shared already:

November: I also didn't draw shit in November, but when I did, I made two whole characters: a catboy (Kitari) and a duelist, yu-gi-oh style, that I didn't share yet (Yune). Fun Fact: Yune is the first Yu-Gi-Oh oc I've ever made, despite loving the series for years, and all I have to show him off is a colored headshot and some messy sketches:

Outfit design isn't final yet, but hey. He exists. Yes, the scarf (and hair) will stay.

December: S Q U A R E - The Puyo Puyo Brainrot returned and so did me drawing Squares. I also drew a bunch of emotes for Kitari (of which only half are done) and another little something that I'll share later~

Overall: - Very productive year in terms of art improvement (mainly anatomy and color choice; character design quality has also improved a lot) - More brainrot fanart than in previous years - Less art overall, but more got shown off - 10/10 quality (compared to older art), hell yeah

I am SO glad you enjoyed your trip here, I love it when people learn about each other's cultures it literally makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!! I love how detailed your posts about the trip were and I really appreciate you sharing it with us <33

You knowing your tourist guide's whole story with the pharmacist to history lover is so real 😭 some people be having the wildest career paths especially the ones who've been at it for a long time and you somehow get to know their whole story in the span of 20 minutes

Personally I think summer in the US feels worse bc ceiling fans and all around ventilation isn't very common there from what I've seen and heard, while winters in India are worse for the most part since electrical heating and room temperature control isn't common here outside of the cities (inbuilt room temp control isn't a concept here at all currently, I've only ever seen it in hotels)

This was probably the best time for you to visit india cause peak summer temperatures haven't even started yet and you were already dying from the heat (me too dw)

And trust when I say you're not the only one struggling to cross the streets not all of us are built for this do or die type of shit 💔💔💔 (though I'll have to build up that confidence since you know. I live here. Don't exactly have a choice 🤡)

Awe thank you! I def love sharing my experiences! I love traveling and will def have to come back. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it cause i tend to ramble on about stuff! Yes! Another tour guide we had in Jaipur used to be a laywer. He was so knowledgeable too, he was with us all day and took us a few different places. It was fun learning about them. One thing I definitely took back from that and was inspired by was seeing people leaving "socially prominent" or high status jobs for something they loved. Seeing as I went as apart of my MBA program it was an unexpected but great reality check that sure we are all in this program to progress our careers but we really need to keep self-fulfillment and happiness in mind. Whats money or status if you are miserable? Like they had us eating out of the palm of their hand with how much passion they had for what they did and it really inspired me to find that in my own life!

Omfg yeah, it really depends on where you are. The sun feels a bit more intense in India because we were closer to the equator than in the US but the heat in India I experienced at 100 degrees F was a walk in the park compared to the time I stupidly went to las vegas in August and it was nearly 120 degrees F. Also where I live summers have been getting hotter and hotter so people arent equipped for heat waves. I've always had AC cause I have really furry dogs who need to stay cool though so thankfully ive been prepared. Also winters can be an issue here too, Texas been getting ice storms and blizzards in the past few years and as a hot area are completely unequipped. Even in places that are used to cold like NYC, when I lived there I moved into a new building paid a stupid high rent to live in a box that had central AC but was poorly insulated so I had to buy like the shiny foil insulating sheets to put over my window in the winter or I felt like the wind was passing right through.

Haha thankfully I was always in busy areas cause me and my friends when we werent with our guide would always just wait until we saw someone else who was clearly Indian cross the street and cross with them lmfao. We probably looked so stupid standing and waiting there lmfao but we never waited more than 5 mins thankfully LOL. Its funny cause looking back I've had friends here in the US scared to "jaywalk" with like one car coming thats practically crawling down the block and in India you have people boldly stopping speeding cars to cross LOL. I just imagine how funny we must look scared to cross with one car wayyyyyyy down the block coming, even I'm laughing at us.

I hope you get some resturant thaali soon! I'm definitely going to be craving it soon too. I know the next time I eat Indian food it ain't going to hit the same AT ALL lmfao.

It's hard to watch Tribute shows when the artist meant so much to you. Not that it was a tribute show but I had an emotional time watching the last Hip show when it aired. I had been invited to watch with friends but I choose to stay home alone and sit on my couch with a box of tissues. That's another amazing doc Long Time Running!

That's awesome you want to learn Guitar! And Van Halen were amazing. Of the 3 frontmen which was your favourite? Apart from Metallica and Megadeth which really scratched my angry itch so to speak as a teen, I spent a lot of time with strong female singer songwriters (Stevie Nicks; Amy Winehouse; Beth Hart; Patti Smith; etc..). Pearl Jam also really helped me with some things. Eddies lyrics hit really close to home sometimes.

It's so fun right? I don't think anyone else in my fandom is doing it but sometimes I'll check the SRS 22 tag and it's so interesting to see.

Me and the mutuals do a lot of music tag games. Although I've been slacking lately and I have a few sitting in my drafts waiting. If I see a post I think one of them will like I make sure to tag them and they do the same for me. I love that all our interests are so varied yet we all meet through music.

Well I technically have had my account for 6 or 7 yrs but I never posted anything back then. I was the Pyramid icon and just checked out blogs but never interacted for some reason. Then I kinda forgot about it lol. But 2 yrs ago I decided to find fellow PJ fans and made a real blog and have had the best time since.

What's you go to comfort meal? I have Crock Pot Chili cooking at home as I type and I can't wait to have a massive bowl of it after work. I like it spicy and I love to eat it with nacho chips 😋

So out of nowhere I was tagged and quoted by a SR shipper for a blog of mine posted in August of last year. Talk about throwback but, hey, gotta appreciate that level of snooping. 😉

Back in the day I actually used to encourage discourse amongst Inuyasha fans- both shippers and antis alike- but I've since realized that it's a lost cause. But for you, @feministmetalgreymon , I'll grant this exception. Just 'cause it's been a while so why the hell not. haha

I want to assure you, however, that nothing you say will ever convince me that Sesshomaru and Rin are meant to be together romantically or that the story intended it so. Nor will you find any validation here. You can ship them for all I care, but please for all that is good and holy while I have your attention try- I mean really try- to understand why it is so many of us Inuyasha fans are so against this pairing in the first place (newsflash: it's not about ship wars), and why we believe a romance between the two of them is completely and utterly out of character.

For those of you interested in reading this, the blog of mine in question that the above shipper mentions in their counter-argument is here for reference. It's titled "Jaken = Rin's Dad?" I'm going to try and keep this short, but I'm also making no such promises. After all, I'm not exactly known for my brevity. haha Now let's get crackin'!

Like you, feministmetalgreymon, did for your recent blog here where you took screenshots of mine to address certain parts, I will be doing the same and dissecting yours accordingly.

I worked with kids for many years as a teacher, and many people in my family have too or still do. Two of them happen to be just over 5 feet which is quite short for the average adult woman living here. I've also worked alongside many a women of short stature, and never did I hear any of them complaining of issues with their students having difficulty differentiating them from their own peers just because they were short as well. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. Kids are quite smart and pick up on a lot more than you seem to give them credit for. Height is not the only characteristic they look at to determine who's an adult and who's not, and it's foolish to suggest otherwise. So unless you're a babysitter who's still in their teens and/or who has very childlike features or behavior then I'm afraid what you're getting at is total hogwash. This is just another example of how you shippers offer nothing of real substance to your reasoning, it's only ever cherry-picking or strawmanning from you guys. Stop deflecting from the real issues please, because this certainly isn't one and only winds up being a complete waste of time for all parties involved.

Okay, calm down now. I wasn't insinuating that relationships between parents and children can't change over time in terms of how they get along. Of course that's possible, as all families experience their fair share of estrangement and abuse. What I was speaking about was in reference to the overall dynamic between the two. Because a bad mother or father can still be viewed as a parental figure to their child even if say they're not in said child's life anymore. Since Sesshomaru and Rin share a healthy bond- and just a friendly reminder that in my blog I even said that he doesn't have to necessarily be labeled her father but that a romantic relationship later would still be inappropriate- I didn't deem it necessary to address what you brought up. Plus, it kinda, umm, misses the point?? Please, let's stay on topic. And it's not captured in the screenshot, but stop acting like there isn't a small part of them that idolizes their parents at some point during childhood. Just like you mention later on how it's normal for kids to have innocent crushes on adults that they eventually grow out of? Well, guess what, the same concept applies here. Kids eventually learn that their parents are far from perfect and make mistakes too. Rin is so damn young in the OG series though that we never even get to see her reach that maturity level.

LOL! Alright, okay, so the "unbreakable bond" bit you're mentioning was actually me quoting you sessrinners. Did you not catch that? I literally spelled it out. *sigh* The whole point I was making is that shippers like yourself make hypocritical and contradictory statements all.the.goddamn.time. One moment you guys claim that Sesshomaru and Rin were essentially strangers and meant very little to each other, only to say in the same breath a few seconds later that they were destined to be together and their bond is like no other. I agree, their bond is special, but why must that mean they're going to fall in love?

That is the root of the matter here. Too many animes/mangas have romanticized this older adult man & young girl growing up falling in love trope that it's become way too normalized and widely accepted across the world- and yes, in some cultures more than others. Sadly, you lack the awareness to recognize how this all works. You know how we know that? When we see that you shippers are so desensitized to sexualized images of girls in the media that you share posts like this one below which *subtly* imply a future romance although one half of that pairing is still just a child in the pic and then try and pass it off as cute. That's like super fucking problematic and it scares me that you can't see that (or deny you do). 🤢

After all that's said and done, Sesshomaru leaving Rin in the village with Kaede is to me the strongest indicator more than pretty much anything else he's done for Rin that proves he is her adoptive father. It's so funny to me how you somehow see the exact opposite though. 🤔 What I think is happening is that you got yourself on some squeaky clean ass shipper goggles fresh out of your little echo chamber. Because I hate to tell you, but what you're fantasizing is what you want to see and not what's actually there on screen or was written into the story. I'm strictly talking about Inuyasha and the manga of course. [For the TL; DR version skip to the last paragraph.]

Parents looking after their kids is what parents are supposed to do. A good parent will do anything to keep their child safe and ensure they are cared for, so what he did for her by leaving her there was in her best interests clearly. Besides, as a babysitter, you more than most people should understand that parents aren't always able to be there for their kids so sometimes others gotta step in to help. Haven't you heard of the saying, "it takes a village to raise a child?" Which in Rin's case is literally true! 😂 Sometimes kids are even sent off to stay with grandparents and that's who raises them instead. Or maybe they have to temporarily live with an aunt or uncle because their single parent's job requires they work out of town 4-5 days of the week so they're hardly home. But that doesn't mean that the parents care or love their kids any less, and it's foolish to assume that Sesshomaru must have thought very little of Rin simply due to the fact that he made the decision to leave her in the village. Come on, y'all are acting like he abandoned her there!!

It's just given the circumstances Sesshomaru finally came to learn that Rin traveling with him was no longer safe. I also like to think it's because he wished for her to live a more normal life and to learn how to fully trust humans again. Plus, continuing to travel with him as young as she was would have proven dangerous and unwise. Now for you to know all this and still manage to turn his past actions towards her while she was just a child into a romantic gesture is what boggles my mind. Regardless of how you look at it, from my perspective or your own, Sesshomaru is in the wrong. Either he's a father figure who impregnates his daughter at the young age of approximately 14. OR he's this man she used to travel with who maybe isn't a father to her but who nonetheless basically rapes her since kids her age can't consent to sex with an adult. Idk about you but it sounds to me like nobody here wins with either scenario we're given. In other words, you should be just as mad as we are. If only one side didn't choose to forsake their morals they know we both have in common for the sake of a ship. Welp. 🤷‍♀️

I agree, incest is disgusting but that's not the only problem we have with this pairing. A romantic bond forming between Sesshomaru and Rin would also constitute as grooming.

You realize that over the years he visited her in the village that he brought her gifts too and essentially watched her grow up right before his very eyes, right? I mean, I know you do, but I really shouldn't have to explain further why pursuing a romantic/sexual relationship with each other is plain and simple wrong. And before you say it's not because he didn't have any malintent, please understand that considering their history and power dynamic up to then that yes this is still considered grooming even if Rin supposedly "wanted it" or "made the first move." Whether you consider him her father or not, as the adult who took on a role resembling that of a caretaker in her early life- a critical developmental time for a child- Sesshomaru is obligated to turn down any advances by Rin and most definitely should not initiate any himself. As the first close adult figure she's had in her life since her parents died, it's unfathomable to imagine how Sesshomaru could go through with taking advantage of this young girl who was under his care and supervision since they met. To think he could be capable of betraying that trust sickens me to the core.

This. Now THIS is how a parent/guardian or a similar adult caretaker (babysitter, teacher, etc.) talks to a child. And, in turn, this is how some young children talk to adults. You'd be insane and delusional to deny it! We see it in our everyday lives, do we not? From where else do you think our stories draw most of their inspiration? Yes, obviously these fictional universes have aspects of fantasy that don't exist in the real world, but so how then do you suppose we're able to relate to them? The reason for that being is because these stories are written by people for people, so naturally there are going to be real life aspects embedded throughout. Sure, a little escapism doesn't hurt as we don't need to take everything so seriously, but ultimately we all need to recognize that the messages in the stories we tell matter. Most stories possess a combination of both light and dark themes, but when it specifically comes to the latter we gotta be careful with how we tackle this in children's media since kids are far more impressionable.

So if at the center of a story we have two of the main protagonists whose mom is basically their same age and to top it off she knew their dad when she was just a girl and who just so happened to help raise her, wouldn't you say that's beyond fucked up or at the very least so fucking weird? Like why would we think it's even remotely okay for our children to watch this garbage?? Really think about it. Try and be objective for once and think about how it would sound explaining this storyline to an outsider who's never watched IY or HNY. Well, antis have tried this before many times and we always get the same reaction: Ewww!

Like I said earlier, if you wanna ship it then fine, but 1) please stop seeking our approval or trying to change our minds - your ship wish came true didn't it, so why do you need us to validate it? 2) even though it's not canon, respect that we don't support this sequel portraying pedophilia in a positive light. It's harmful af to not only allow but glorify the continuation of sexualized images of young girls everywhere. And I shouldn't have to say this, but just because this trope is popular as you say does not make it right. Lolicon themes in the media have been an issue forever and it needs to stop. Yes, even some people in Japan or "the East" would agree. Shocker!

We're pissed off and rightfully so because Yashahime's TV rating is 14, not to mention it airs at the prime time kids in Japan watch TV after getting home from school. That's Towa and Setsuna's age, true, but if Rin being the mom when she's like only a year older than them (please don't argue w/ me about the math- antis have so far been right every time with it) is straight-up disgusting and not something we should be supporting or endorsing. Rin's a whole ass child!! Please don't start with the "but times were different then so her having kids at 15 is acceptable" argument either, because we've already debunked that and every other single excuse you guys throw at us. Besides, how or why would you expect young viewers to know these historical "facts" anyway, especially if as you suggest fiction doesn't affect reality so what does it matter? Yet here we are, arguing over a fictional show in real life almost a year and a half into the "Sesshomaru fucks?" sequel being announced. My ass, your ass, hell all our asses fiction doesn't affect reality!

Look, I do apologize if the tone of this blog came off as snippy or condescending at times. I do not wish you any ill will, it's just I'm not really sure what you expected to get out of all this besides maybe getting on my nerves perhaps. haha A lot of you shippers have been desperately scrambling to interact with us, lurking in our tags, jumping onto our posts screaming canon and getting so defensive even though you sought us out first. We've been sticking to our tags, so how about you stay in your lane too. By the way since we're on the topic, have you seen Twitter or Reddit?! SR shippers there are the actual worst and many Inuyasha fans (not just antis) have complained of not feeling welcomed to engage in fandom spaces anymore. Shippers swarm them and scare them off simply because fans don't like your ship and refuse to accept it. It's pathetic, really. No one should ever be bullied or harassed just because they don't like something you might. We're all fans of Inuyasha, aren't we? So let's act like it. Yashahime on the other hand, you guys are welcome to that pungent heap of trash. Fans have a right to criticize it too, but if you like it then good for you, so keep on liking it and don't mind us.

I'm almost done, but real quick back to Jaken! Let's not forget about how the official Yashahime website- which came out after my blog, mind you- described Jaken. This translation isn't the best one available but it's the only version a fellow anti friend could track down. They do recall a better one done by a native Japanese speaker who was also an anti, and that member confirmed that Jaken is indeed called Rin's babysitter. So you see, I was right in my interpretation. In the original post I did compare Jaken to a brother, but after talking to others (some comments can be found under said post) I did acknowledge that he's more of a reluctant babysitter who's not related. And if he's not at least a brother to Rin, then he's definitely not her father.

At the end of the day, the creator Rumiko Takahashi has the final word. Which is guess what? Hogosha. 💖 Probably should've just started out with that and saved us all the trouble, huh? Good day/night to you.

She back with the goals 😎 I had a whole long post for this but it deleted itself so, here's my second attempt 😩

I've been struggling with thinking in unhealthy thought patterns again, which I tend to do when I'm very stressed. I just left an old job, started a new job, and I'm getting married in two months! So good stress, but definitely still stress lol. My solution for combatting the impulsiveness of E.D. thought patterns is introducing more structure in a healthy way (because I am still trying to lose weight, but I want to do it in a positive and sustainable way!). Hence revisiting the monthly goals, even though we're close to the end of August now. It's all about building habits!

More in depth explanations for each and a pic of the bullet journal tracking page under the cut:

1. No soda - Right now, I'm unable to have a healthy relationship with soda. It's a very big trigger for me to feel out of control and I'm unable to control myself with it and have it in a healthy amount. So until I can do that, I'd rather just not have it for now. I'm also working much longer shifts at the salon and I need to be properly hydrated!

2. Exercise - I'm intentionally keeping this vague so I don't feel like I "messed up" by not meeting whatever goal I set for myself. Usually I like to set more measurable goals but, since I'm feeling vulnerable to unhealthy thought patterns, for now I'm just trying to get back into a habit of being more mindful of and tracking my movement. And this includes any sort of intentional exercise, even if it's just walking for 10 minutes! It's better than no minutes and it was a conscious effort to move my body 👍

3. Stick to your meal plan - Because I'm at the salon for 3/4 days for 11+ hours now, I've had to start planning my meals more so I can eat lunch and dinner at work. This has resulted in me doing really well for those three days....and then sort of floundering around and eating whatever for the rest of the week 😅 So my fiancé and I came up with the solution to make a plan for the entire week including "free spaces" and treats to have so we're not overindulging (and subsequently feeding into that "messing up" mindset that comes with the resurgence of the E.D thoughts).

I think that about sums it up! Overall, this is a "progress, not perfection" month for me. I started falling back into a toxic mindset, but I noticed it, and am making plans to get back into a healthier one (while also being mindful of not pushing too hard while I'm still feeling vulnerable!).

So here's to the end of August! Do you have any goals you're working on/ready to start working on? For me it's time to get back on the horse that is healthy thinking, sustainable life changes, and just overall positivity 😎

Twitter having breakdowns because “Tom deserves better” because z hid him away like she was ashamed of him then broke his heart and flaunted her new relationship in his face 🤭 like Tom has clearly moved past that so why can’t they?? Some of these folks complain about Tom being babied then act like this. If they’re gonna throw a tantrum everytime they’re just hanging out then they need to brace themselves because my gut is telling me this isn’t the end

You know what? At this point antis and certain "fans" just need to give it up. 🙄 Right now it's pretty obvious that Tom and Z both like each other. Whether it's just friends or more, the point is, they love and care about each other, and definitely want the best for each other. So some fans need to just hang it up! TZ are gonna do what they want to do, and fans should respect that, regardless of WHAT happens.

Also, if you consider yourself a true "fan", wouldn't you want your fave to be happy? They are both DECENT PEOPLE, so idk why fans would be upset at this pairing.

Also, SOME fans need to remember that they are only basing their opinions of their previous relationship on like 5% of the information. Whereas THEY (Tom&Z) have like 98% of the information. Tom knows the type of gf Zendaya was behind closed doors. Fans don't. To even assume that you as a fan know better than them is just really crazy imo lol. 😅 I could see if they both (or either one of them) had bad track records, or a shady past, had cheated on each other (or on previous bfs and gfs), or you saw them being dismissive towards each other in public or smthg, by that's literally NOT the case.

Plus, HOW was Zendaya "flaunting" her relationship with JE exactly? Even the pics in Greece were taken by FANS. And the NYC pics were like 5 months AFTER that. And even then she was begging fans to take the pictures down! So how is that flaunting? Did she even do a birthday post for him this year? No! Did she even post him on IG to go "official"? No! Was she blabbing to the media and talking about her "boyfriend Jacob Elordi"? No! So how was she "flaunting" her relationship w/him exactly? 🥴🤷🏾‍♀️ She didn't even put out a statement that they broke up! (Even though that's been clearly obvious since early August)

Also, I've said this before and I'll say it again: If they (Tomdaya) were indeed starting to fight a lot since late 2018 (as Audrey's tea suggests), and distance and time were an issue, and they couldn't agree on how "transparent" they wanted to be to the public about their relationship, then I feel like they really did need to break up! Sometimes you need some time and distance from a situation (or a person) so that it helps you see things more clearly and with a different outlook.

Also, keep in mind that Tom never said he was against them being private. Even he's said in his own words that "I'm a very private person". I just think he wanted them to lessen the extra-ness of them hiding the relationship so much. She wasn't really hiding HIM, she was hiding the relationship. In reality, she actually posted him quite a LOT during the years they were together. Of course, we'll never get anything like that in her future relationships again lol (she never really did that even when she was dating JE tbh), but it was nice while it lasted in the Tomdaya rlshp years ago.

I swear, some fans really need to let NYC go. That was back in February. We are now NOVEMBER. In fact, we're about to be in DECEMBER (almost a year). It's time to let that stuff go. 🥴 It's pretty clear both Tom and Z have moved on from that, and I think the fans need to as well.

Sorry for the dissertation, but some so-called "fans" really are doing the most. They would all just be so much happier if they just went with the flow.
