This time of year can be rough, especially for plurals.
So, this Thanksgiving, I want to say thank you to:
Native, First Nations, and Indigenous systems of any and all kinds
Those who struggle with being around family, or a certain family member in particular
People with broken homes, divorced parents, or other circumstances that make the holidays feel isolating
Those who don't celebrate Thanksgiving
Systems who have a hard relationship with food
Plurals below the poverty line who can't afford to celebrate, even if they want to
And anyone else who just needs some extra reassurance for today
It's going to be ok. Today and this coming month won't last forever. I know you're going to get through it. I believe in you.
Positivity requests are still closed, but feel free to flood our inbox with any other messages. Venting, advice, needing comfort, anything. We're here for you. ❤️
This Kwanzaa we will focus on empowering yourself, reconnecting with your community, and learning survival skills from your ancestors. Do not allow the word “ancestor” to scare you. This society forces you to learn traditions and ancestors that are not yours like Santa, the tooth fairy, Halloween, 4th of July and so forth. If you are willing to celebrate those things then why not your own people?
Today is Kujichagulia, so we light the red candle to symbolize the blood that pumps life and self-determination through our veins. Umoja reminded us that we must stick together in order to create a bright future, however today we will place all of our focus on ourselves. If we are not properly aligned with our emotions and actions, it opens a door that can cause harm to our community.
New Year Resolution
Most people change their environment, acquaintances and lifestyle during the new year, but that is actually the worst time to do so. Firstly, why would you wait for a specific month to change things that need to be changed right now? Secondly, your mindset is being served on a silver platter. You do not know what the future holds! Your ancestors had to live their day-to-day based on starving, sleeping outside, constant walking, fighting and fleeing wild animals, while your daily concern is if your food is too cold from the microwave.
Nature
Why is your new year resolution during the season of death? No wonder it never comes true. If you truly want to do a new year resolution it should be in spring when nature finishes its rebirth cycle. Death is necessary so don’t get gloomy about it because without it we wouldn’t have space for anything new. You may not be sleeping next to bears at night anymore but you can surely improve other things like your concentration, discernment, observation, balance, temper, empathy, speech, and confidence.
Technology
Put your phone, remote and laptop down. Most people spend hours on social media feeding themselves garbage. There is no reason why you should know more information about celebrities than your own skills in life. Technology is cool but it shouldn’t dictate your entire life. Besides, you should enjoy what’s left of nature and freedom before it’s attempted to be stripped away from us, again.

Seasonal reminder that as the H.olidays including, but, certainly not limited to C.hristmas rev up reminders that...
Do Not assume people's squicks/triggers.
use the tagging system properly.
Please do not be presumptuous or intentionally Eurocentric.
It is fine, to be happy, it is fine to be sad, these are standard human emotions, and you need not be joyous all the time.
Not everyone has positive relationships with the C.hurch/C.hristianity or any faith, again, tag properly.
SAD is far more common than everyone thinks, about 10-40% of the population experiences it, especially in winter and in the northern hemisphere's colder places, you will get through this.
Christmas magic! I love Christmas but this year has me stressed to the max! The amount of money I’ve spent of Coit is insane but he deserves it!
I’ve got messages in my inbox about Jack, Lewis, and other stuff that I haven’t even had time to answer and I’m sorry! Life has been busy!
I doubt I’ll be on much in the next few days with all the Christmas stuff I have got planned for Coit, Addy, and Noah. Dakota being thrown into the mix has made it interesting!
I hope everyone has a blessed and merry Christmas! If you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful last 2 weeks of 2023!
