Robin's been keeping count of how many times Keith will ask Steve, in a single shift, to re-organise the front display due to inadequacy. That's the word Keith uses. Says it in that terrible drawl in his throat and with those lifeless eyes that don't seem to care when Steve's eye twitches after he's been asked for the third time.

Steve seriously thinks about kicking the entire display to shit.

He nearly does, just to stick it to Keith and permanently his cheeto-dusted fingertips and greasy mop for hair. God, Keith brings out the worst in him. Steve's honestly just stalling at this point, considering he's got about 15 minutes left of this shift. He busies his hands. Doesn't give the perpetually lurking Keith a chance to drag him into some other mindless job.

The 15 minutes crawl by. He's shrugging off his vest 2 mins out, specifically avoiding Keith's gaze as he maneuvers into the break room quickly.

"You're not finished yet, Harrington!" Keith's grating voice follows him in. Steve doesn't let it phase him, gathering his personal items from the employee room without a pause. He can sense Keith behind him in the doorway like a fucking vampire, some villainous presence hovering nearby.

"I could write you up for that, you know that." A crispy crunch. He's still snacking, even as he berates Steve in that bored tone; Steve wonders if today's the day to pick this fight with him. Really considers it. He ends up just clenching his jaw and watching the clock as it ticks over into sweet, sweet free time.

"Sure, Keith. Whatever you say." He grinds out, not even attempting pleasantries. There's a tight smile on his face but it might be a grimace for all Steve cares. He pushes past him and heads for the door.

"Hey Buckley," There it is again, that drawl that drives Steve nuts. "Can you check the front display? Undoubtedly, your Neanderthal friend will have found a way to mess it up and I'm not staying behind to fix it again."

Steve doesn't need to know what Neanderthal means to know when someone's calling him an idiot. He catches the start of Robin's furious glare, whipping towards her manager, but it disappears from view as he pushes out the door. Too hard. It slams against its hinges with a bang.

The steps rush up to meet his feet as he dashes down them. It's all muscle memory, opening the car door, turning the ignition, reversing out of the Family Video parking lot. The road gets swallowed beneath the car as he drives, a titch too fast than the speed limit warrants. Doesn't matter, Steve knows there's a remedy for his bad mood waiting at home.

You're in the kitchen when he gets in the door. He can tell from your shoes, left strewn halfway across the hall and outside the door to the kitchen, like you'd remembered to take them off at the last second. He toes them to the side with a small smile.

You must be in the middle of fixing a cup of something as there's something in your hand that tinks! gently, a teaspoon against porcelain.

Steve leans against the door frame and drinks his fill of love. Watching you be content as ever in his home, haloed in the setting sunlight through the windows, is a special sort of soothe on his soul. He's not sure he'll ever get used to it; or that he wants to.

Steve takes a breath in, thinks back to when you said love? well, love smells like your shampoo to me once, and thinks now that love must smell like the hot chocolate cradled in your hands. Love smells like you in the kitchen, waiting for him to come home.

You turn, catching sight of him. "Steve!"

His chest turns that bit lighter at your excited voice. He smiles and it comes easy. "Hi, sweetheart."

You cross the room to him, abandoning your steaming mug and Steve's arms are already open by the time you reach him. You slide up onto your toes, arms circling his neck, and you're pleasantly surprised when Steve ducks down and buries himself in your neck, his arms around your waist.

"Missed you," He mumbles and releases a sigh. His arms tighten, pulling you closer.

"Missed you too, Steve." You tell him truthfully, running your hand over the back of his head soothingly. You're like a balm to scorched skin, any fleeting bad feelings scampering at your reassuring touches. "Everything okay?"

Steve dredges his head out of his hiding place, staying close. His nose nuzzles against the length of your own, his eyes tired and affectionate.

"Mm." is the non-committal answer he gives you. He presses forward, lips seeking yours but you dodge them and give him a little frown.

"Everything okay?" You check, repeating the question. Steve can't be mad at your insistence, even though you're depriving him of kisses at the current moment. His thumb swipes along your ribcage impatiently.

"I've just... had a terrible day at work," he admits with a sigh. "So, just kiss me? Please."

And how could deny such a sweet request like that? Not when he sounds like your kisses could cure all his ails, could make any bad day a good one.

"Of course, loverboy," you breathe with a grin, eyes searching his face for the usual blush that arises at the pet name. He doesn't disappoint. Cheeks pink and lips even pinker, you tighten your arms around his neck and kiss him warmly. Steve gleefully tastes chocolate on your lips.

"Any time," you murmur when you pull back, and you mean it. Steve takes you up on that without a moment's hesitation.

OF COURSE CRANE!!!!! I love Hark so much man.

SO!! Sam 'Hark' Harkins is the second yongest of 4 boys (Tony, Louis, and Blake) and is the strangest out of the sports boys; with his blank expression, intense stare and flat tone in his voice, he comes across as a pretty scary guy. But if anyone were to ask his friends, they'd say he's one of the sweetest and most charming dudes they know - his expression just adding to his character!! Although he grew up surrounded by love and suppot, Hark has grown up with a lot of mental health issues from around 10 years old, but the worst of it has been his struggles with a Dissociation Disorder (I'm thinking DPDR BUT I have to do a bunch more research on it to finalise my thoughts mmhm!) which makes it really hard for him to connect with others (including close friends and his own family) and be in touch with his emotions. Thankfully though, his family and friends are super supportive and makes him feel a little less like a stranger in his own skin <3 <3 <3 SOME QUICK HAPPY FACTS THOUGH!! He's the tallest (along with Vince) in the sports boys group at 6'2", he got a cat face tattoo on his left side after a drunk night in the city (drawn by himself, 5 minutes before he got it on his body), he goes to the same high school as Jock and and catches his school bus at the same bus stop as Matty, and was nicknamed Hark by some of his friends from primary school cause his intense stare reminded them of the phrase 'Watch them like a Hawk' and just made it fit with his last name eheheh BUT YEAH!!!! Hark, my beloved lil man, what a DUDE.

So I was playing The Sims 4 and I automatically remembered posts about what it would be like if the boys played Minecraft and Roblox, so I asked myself: How would each of them feel and react playing The Sims 4? I'm a new follower and I love your posts!

YES this is so cute omg, also to anyone else sending asks I SEE THEM I will get to them, I got like 35 of y'all in my inbox and I LOVE YOU ALL just be patient, thank you mwah. Anyways, the headcanons below da cut, here we go.

Kazuma Kiryu

Fascinated by The Sims. Mostly watches the kids play it, but they end up roping him into playing eventually. Needs some help at first, it takes time to learn the ropes, but he's pretty good at picking up on it. Says things like "Ah... I see." a lot. Out of all the games the kids have shown him, The Sims seems to stick the quickest.

Majima Goro

Takes a million years in character creation alone. Like decorating things or dressing the people up. Total chaos lord, if something catches on fire in game he just gets confused. A lot of saying "What do I do, c'mon, tell me!" really quickly and loudly. Talks to his Sims, says things like "Darn it, I told ya to go HERE."

Akiyama Shun

Makes his Sims hit on everyone. Actually a bit of a chaos gremlin but only in games like The Sims specifically. Once he realizes that game is basically him making a bunch of tiny people do funny stuff, he will proceed to do exactly that. Will always pick THE most styling outfits for his Sims.

Saejima Taiga

Squints a LOT, especially when trying to read options in the charater creation menu or when a Sim has choice bubble pop up. When he sees a Sim isn't happy, he says things like "Huh? Didn't I just feed ya?". His first playthrough is super messy and the house he builds is totally not functional so it'll take him a few attempts to actually get going in the game.

Tanimura Masayoshi

Honestly the most basic of all the boys at Sims. Plays it straight, pours in exactly a reasonable amount of hours, struggles an average amount. It's not his most favorite type of game to play and he prefers to watch others play it as he finds their choices more interesting than his own.

Ryuji Goda

He's all about that house building, babey. Probably ends up building himself some monstrosity of a tower and is like "Look what I made!". He actually kind of likes The Sims a lot once he realizes it's supposed to be a little chaotic. This makes him actually relax more, whereas with other games he can get a little frustrated when something unusual happens.

Nishikiyama Akira

Probably the most likely to make his Sims look like himself and/or people he knows. If not people he knows directly, then something like a celebrity or famous character. Pretty good at matching his Sims to people's appearances, although he mostly cares about the character creation than anything else. Might not even play the game beyond making characters honestly.

Daigo Dojima

Very precise gamer. House has to be spick and span, all the Sims have to be happy before he turns the game off. Fond of the decorating or dress up aspects and likes to see his Sims make friends or start relationships. Treats it more like a dating sim than anything.

Mine Yoshitaka

Sort of like Daigo but he treats it like a business management Sim. His Sim is going to be the very best like no one ever was. Won't really tell anyone he plays the Sims as it's kind of his guilty pleasure game. Prefers having as few Sims as possible in one game so it's easier to manage them all.

Tatsuo Shinada

Best Sims player to watch in a livestream of all the boys. Total goofball, tons of "What's this option do?" and general fucking around and finding out with his gameplay style. Makes the most random looking Sims. Naturally comedic when he plays it. Tries super hard to romance other Sims though.

puffy purple clouds coast along the magenta and bubblegum pink sky, the sun making its slow ascent into the sky, its light leaving behind touches of marigold along the water. nothing, you think, can beat the view. you don’t normally wake up this early, but you’ve barely slept and you’re wired enough to enjoy the solitude of being outside on the ship’s deck as your crewmates sleep. the ship’s been anchored along the coast of a small island since last night, a small seafaring town not too far away. the plan is to stock up on supplies before sailing out again.

a breeze ruffles your hair and clothes, caresses your face—gently, a touch of adoration as the scent of sea salt infiltrates your nose. it’s a wonderful sensation, one that you like to remember from time to time; it’s almost as if you’re experiencing a rebirth every single time.

on average, he sleeps about three or four hours; on this particular morning, he wakes up after tossing and turning for far too long, grouchy, the fatigue sapping more and more of his patience as he steps out of his room in search of coffee. he likes this part of the morning, specifically because it means he has a little bit of tranquility before the chaos of the day begins. when he spots you near the railing, he pauses to take you all in—the way your eyes crinkle at the sides as you close them, head facing upwards, your smile equally as radiant as if you can taste the warmth of the sun. and maybe you can; he’s always wondered that—not seriously, no, but you seem to shine brightest when you’re outdoors, when the sun is at its highest peak, when your skin glows. golden, ethereal, the sort of thing that forces people to write poetry — but he’s no poet, and it’s impossible for him to capture your essence in word form anyway.

he won’t bother trying.

what he will do, though, is make his presence known. so when he calls out to you, shaking you from whatever meditative state you found yourself in, your smile only grows. he joins your side and as he’s about to reveal that small truth of his, the one he’s been meaning to tell you for quite some time  now, it starts to rain. at first, the drops are soft, spread out—hardly anything to concern himself over. 

but it’s the new world—the weather isn’t forgiving, nor is it predictable by any means. 

the clouds darken, the amalgamation of colors that lit up the sky blur together, revealing a sinister storm that might possibly head this way. you don’t move, though; the water is refreshing, you close your eyes again, the raindrops falling harder, multiplying in quantity, snuffing out the residual heat from the air completely. it takes a minute, but you’re already soaked, and he is too. he’s used to your impulsive decisions, used to your out-of-the-box thinking, but this—even this is a little outlandish for him.

killer doesn’t move from your side, however; he wonders what it is that keeps him in place, when he knows how much he hates the way water trickles inside of his helmet, but you’re here and if you’re here, then he must be too. it’s an illogical decision, one that he doesn’t understand completely, but you do. you open your eyes, droplets of water dripping from your eyelashes; he wipes it gently, almost as if he’s afraid of disturbing whatever tranquility you seek out in the rain. you’re grateful the rain picks up, because it distracts him and you can suffer in silence, your cheeks burning from that one gesture.

your hand finds his, you tug him along, feeling guilty that he waited in the rain with you. it’s not your intention to just monopolize his time like that, and you’re sure that killer can take care of himself, but you nudge him into your room and motion for him to sit anyway. 

he hates being wet, but he doesn’t hate it as much right now. and because of that, killer removes his helmet and places it on your nightstand, so that when you come back with a large fluffy towel, you’re momentarily stunned. it’s a testament to how much he trusts you, and that pesky blush finds its way back onto your cheeks, spreading down your neck and onto your chest.

“here,” you say quickly and hope he’ll take the towel so you can put some distance between you. he has something else in mind entirely; he pulls you onto his lap and while you fuss at him, you’re not really upset. if anything, you’re in a daze that feels more like a dream than anything. and even after you insist on him drying off first, he ignores you and instead brushes his lips against your cheek, your soft skin and accompanying sigh encouraging him to continue. you’re too stunned to speak, afraid that if you utter anything, it’ll come out foolish and he might leave.

you don’t want him to go. not now.

he’s not sure what he’s doing either, but he presses a soft kiss on your cheek and mirrors the move on the opposite side. when you look up at him, it’s with a tenderness that tears through his walls with ease, so much that he doesn’t anticipate you leaning forward and dropping a tiny kiss on the tip of his nose, a cheeky grin on your face as if you’re so very pleased with your actions. and in the end, he laughs and laughs, finding his situation—predicament, really—so ridiculous that he can’t believe he was ever concerned over a measly thing like confessing to you properly.

“Hey, do you guys have ‘The Black Pit of Dr. M’?” Randy turns from the cart of movies with raised eyebrows. You were just behind him, a stack of vhs’ in your hands and a slightly embarrassed smile. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt you… you do work here, right?”

“Yeah! Yeah I do, sorry, I just…” Randy gives a short laugh, his face burning pink. “I’m surprised that you know that movie is all.” You shrug, your smile growing in confidence and width. He likes your smile. He turns, berating himself; what a Randy thing to do, start falling for a stranger all because of their obscure taste and stupidly beautiful smile. “We actually do have it.”

You laugh, one that sounds really fucking ncie to Randy, and he grins back at you. “Oh thank god! You wouldn’t believe how many stores I’ve been to trying to hunt it down. If you’re not busy, could you point me in the direction of it?”

Randy stands up straighter, a sudden burst of confidence. “I’ll do you one better; follow me, fellow cinephile.” He cringes as the words leave his mouth but you laugh and now he’s really confident in that joke. You follow him through the store, past the Thriller section and Dramas until Randy pauses in front of the Fantasy section.

“Shouldn’t it be in horror?”

“That’s exactly what I said!” Randy chimes in, crouching to look at the bottom shelf. “I’ve always believed it’s more on the ‘horror’ side of things, but what do I know? I’ve only seen it twelve thousand times.”

He finds it, letting out a ‘aha’ as he snatches it off of the shelf. His knees pop when he stands up but he hands the dusty VHS off to you with a sad smile, like he was saying goodbye to an old friend. “God, you’re a lifesaver! Thank you so much,” Your eyes dart down to his shirt and for a second, Randy thinks you’re checking him out until you continue. “Randy. I like that name.”

“Thank you! I’m sure you’re name is great too,”

“Y/N.” You hold out your hand, the tapes held precariously in your other one. “So? What’s the verdict?”

He takes your hand, squeezing it before he lets go. He taps his chin with his finger, running the name through his head. “Pretty good. 8/10, room for improvement.”

“Ha ha,” You snort, the sarcasm making Randy grin.

“C’mon, I’ll check you out. If you’re finished, that is?” You nod, following him to the counter. The eight movies, growing in obscurity, come out to a total of $24. You fork over the money, taking a second to look Randy over as he counts out your change. “Here ya go.”

You pocket the change and go to turn but stop, deciding to speak. “You said you’ve seen the movie a bunch of times before, right?” Randy nods. “So, obviously, you have great taste. Any recommendations?”

“Tell you what; when you come to return those, I’ll give you a whole list, as long as you bring one too.”

“Sounds like a date,” Your face burns hot and Randy's face flushes. “I mean, it sounds like a plan. Bye, Randy.”

He waves even after you turn around. “Bye, Y/N.”

Top 5 Cats the Musical moments AND Top 5 Cats the Musical Movie moments? 😂

tho i have to say i’m not nearly as familiar with cats as a stage musical as i am the movie. i’ve seen bits and pieces of the 98 version (i’ve seen misto’s, skimble’s and griz’s songs fully. and parts of the other songs, enough to know what they sound like. and like i watched somebody else watch the 98 version, which gave me the Gist but it’s not the same, obviously). meanwhile i’ve seen the 2019 version 3 times (been on painkillers every single time! not on purpose just amazing timing) AND i’ve watched all of the scenes over and over and analysed it to bits..... so mayhaps i’m a tad underqualified here

so i can give a top 5 for 2019 cats but i don’t feel secure in doing the same for the 98 version. BUT i will say this: all of misto’s song is amazing and “presto” hits harder than any drug. misto’s presto is deservedly iconic

okie this is gonna be hard for me. 98 the problem is i don’t have enough cuz i haven’t seen it properly. 2019 the problem is theres just too many

also i’d like to preface this by saying im at a point where i genuinely adore this movie (aware of the problems, certainly) and i can’t regard it as a bad movie anymore. last time i watched it, i was having the time of my fucking life

so the first half is misto’s song is cute and awkward (and its meant to be, i will defend this song, damn it. tho laurie cannot hold a note, aw honey...) but the second half? when the triumph kicks in? that is golden! golden i tells you! during which i am experiencing genuine euphoria. it’s all good, the whole song is good for me and i love misto so much. but like a moment during this that REALLY gets me tho is when old deut has come back and it cuts to misto looking so overjoyed and the music kicks the fuck in into triumph mode and that is the bit that makes me cry. like a laugh cry. it’s so good, so good. that shit is PEAK

i can’t pick a favourite part of skimbleshank’s song and nobody should. the entire thing is great and it pretty much plays continiously in my head. i dunno if 5 minutes counts as A Moment but fuck it all. he’s a cat that. cannot. be. ignored

griz’s song, memory, is of course amazing. i don’t even need to say that. but also like her “TOUCH ME” is so powerful it’s like all of my organs were being pulled towards the screen at once. thats the best way i can describe it. fuck me that hits like a motherfucker

okay i’ve made it abundantly clear that my love of robbie fairchild’s performance in this has evolved into uh, worshipful. love me a theatre bitch. chaotically sincere and sincerely chaotic. but i can’t just say “every moment with munkustrap” because thats so much of the movie! king!!! this movie rests upon this lovely stripy shoulders! and picking like BEST? for him?? impossible. but i will mention two scenes: the passionate and loving performance given during “old dueteromony”. the singing is beautiful and the aaaacting is lush. that bit when munku nuzzles old deut is A++++. mwah. and the other scene being his background acting during the ad-dressing of cats. the one where he’s emoting so fucking much in the background. and he’s doing that the whole movie actually but its more obvious there. i’ve been to that scene a lot and lemme tell you whatever frame you get of munku in that scene is fucking gold. special mention goes to what he does when old duet mentions the caviar. also i cannot stress enough that robbie does not blink!!! he’s a mad lad!!!!

i love all of jellicle songs for jellicle cats, great song, proper bop. and i dunno if this is my fave part but i think it deserves to be on here, i like when we get to the slow verse where its all like religious and stuff, they’re reaching up towards the everlasting cat as they sing and i think its beautiful. then these lyrics happen (and munku is guiding victoria thru these lyrics, which is nice) “feline, fearless, faithful to others that do...” and the macavity says “what”. and then suddenly the song goes back to really fast paced again. i dunno, i just love the way that part hits. i dunno if it should go in the top five, there are other moments i love more, a lot of them didn’t feel Big Enough. so they’re going in honorable mentions

instruments: i wish i had the coordination (or the confidence to believe i could achieve the coordination) to play like. string instruments because i love them all so much. as of right now, i can play the ocarina tho, and im not half bad with garage band!!
