I haven't gotten the chance to do art for my collaborative AU with @tiny-stack-of-knights​ yet but, I did write a short fic! I wrote this pretty late so if you see a typo... no you didn’t. I’ll put most of it below the cut to avoid clogging the dash (✿◡‿◡)

Warning for violent imagery, it’s not very much but I’ll put a warning just in case!

It was yet again another late night for the king. The crisp air nibbled at the little exposed skin he had, lightly sweeping his hair across his vision.   The king gently swirled the deep crimson wine in his glass, staring off  at the horizon. He took a sip.   He was alone, outside in the cold air, vulnerable to any sort of attack. Yet the king smiled confidently. He knew his abilities well, his power had remained unmatched. He flexed his hand.   Indeed, his rise to power had hardly any support from his new subjects, yet the king paid their distaste in him no mind. After all, there was little they could do, if anything at all.   He chuckled to himself, gazing down at his retiring guards. Finally, his prize has arrived.

   “Quite a lovely night, isn’t it, Sir Meta Knight? Oh my, you’ve certainly seen better days.”   The king stepped towards his golden throne. Taking a seat, he crossed his legs, leaning his head against his hand.    “After the countless, generous offers, it took beating you to a pulp to get you in front of me,” he laughed, “how disappointing.”   “The… others managed to escape, Your Majesty…” A guard spoke, keeping his head bowed.   The king sighed, “that was to be expected,” he said, anger absent from his tone, “however I would have never expected them to leave you behind,” he smiled at the knight, “doesn’t that hurt?”   “Don’t be ridiculous,” Meta Knight spat, “I told them to run, if me being captured means they’re safe from you then so be it…”   The king rolled his eyes, yet his sick smiled remained, “how noble… I supposed you’re not expecting them to come rescue you then?”   “I want them to stay as far away from you as possible.”    “Of course, of course, because you fear I’ll harm them?”    “You nearly killed us all that day!” Meta Knight hissed, “I know damn well you’ll try to do so again!”   The king closed his eyes, “there is no need to shout at me,” he hummed. He opened his eyes, moving his gaze to his guards, “leave us.”   Without a word, the guards bowed, then each retreated silently.   The king stared silently at Meta Knight, eyeing the subtle movements of his restricted hands. The movements were soft, not a sound was made. The king made no comment.   He closed his eyes once again, awaiting the cold sensation in front of his face.   Silence continued, then it appeared.   The king opened his eyes, seeing the knight’s famed sword mere inches away from his face. He laughed, “such aggression, yet you won’t kill me.”   “Don’t be so foolish, nothing good will come from keeping you around.” Meta Knight moved his sword closer, barely touching the king’s skin, “at least I have the decency to tell you first.”   The king laughed, “me? The fool? Oh no, you have it all wrong my dear friend. You have no intention of killing me.” He lifted a hand, gently laying it on the knight’s wrist. He moved the sword to his own neck, “if that was your intention, you would’ve aimed for my neck,” he smiled, “but you didn’t.”   Now he could feel the soft trembling of Meta Knight’s arm.   “My, you’ve got me in such a vulnerable state… what will you do now?”   The king could feel Meta Knight begin to pull back his arm. He tightened his hold on his wrist.   “Why won’t you do it, Meta Knight? I’ve given you such a clear opportunity to take my life…”   Now the knight was struggling to cease his trembling, “trust me I want nothing more than to silence you…” he narrowed his eyes, “but Kirby would never forgive me if I did.”   The king hummed, “what a kind-hearted child he is,” he released his grip on Meta Knight, causing the knight to stumble backwards, “oh how I miss his visits.”   “You were only using us… you don’t mean that.” Meta Knight fixed his posture, “all you do is lie, you lied to us, you’re lying to all these people… you’re lying to yourself.”   The king pouted falsely at the knight, “aw such a sweet person you are, trying to wake me up from my so-called delusions.” He chuckled, “I am wide awake my friend, however it seems you’re the one living a lie.”   “I am not letting you get in my head again…” Meta Knight hissed, “you’re a disease, Magolor, all you know how to do is prey on the weak-minded…”   Magolor sighed, waving his hand in a dismissing manner, “you won’t even allow me to explain.”   “I have no intentions of listening to you.”   Magolor rolled his eyes. Uncrossing his legs, he rose from his throne. He flexed his hand, eyeing Meta Knight’s posture, then swiftly seized his neck before he could make a move. “I have listened to you throw insults at me, now it’s time you listen to what I have to say,” he tightened his grip until Meta Knight released his sword. The metallic sound echoed throughout the throne room.   Magolor locked eyes with the knight, “I am not threatened by you. I am not afraid of you. You and your… friends are nothing but a thorn in my side, an annoyance.” He flicked his finger under Meta Knight’s mask, “you know, being a new king means I haven’t found a proper knight…”   “I’d never work for you.” Meta Knight choked, his movements restricted by Magolor’s hold.   Magolor hummed, “you say that, but you really don’t have such a choice.” He removed his finger from the mask, allow it to conceal the small exposed parts of Meta Knight’s face once again, “you are certainly the most irritating of the bunch, however I do admire your skill,” Magolor smiled, a sickly black substance forming around his finger, “and I think you’d be perfect.”   Magolor wasn’t expecting a response. He simply grinned maliciously as the black substance assaulted the knight’s mask, seeping swiftly through the metal. Hearing Meta Knight grasp for air, he released his hold on his neck, watching as he hit the floor, clutching his chest.   “Since I am such a kind-hearted man myself, I’ll allow you to keep your secrets,” Magolor hummed, folding his arms.   Meta Knight made an attempt to halt his choking, yet no words found its way out.   “Such as your mask,” Magolor continued, “I do not care about your face. After all, whatever identity you had before is gone now, slipped right out from under your nose,” he laughed, picking up the sword, “now kneel.”   He could see Meta Knight struggle, his eyes rejecting his actions. Despite the anger and defiance in his eyes, he kneeled before Magolor, his posture perfect.   Raising the sword, Magolor gently laid the blade on Meta Knight’s right shoulder, raising it again to lay it carefully on his left.

   The king now had his knight.

Since I can't seem to stay quiet and I all but made up my mind to stay away from the tag for the next week or so, let's talk about recent discussions about jance and bokris and this...weird ship war that has been going on, shall we?

Under the cut bc while I am annoying, I will spare you the essay if you don't want to read it, god knows I write too many of these.

I don't know when we as a fandom got to a point where we are even fighting over which ship is more likely, more realistic and if the other ship is "more queer coded" or whatever the fuck. I was under the impression that the fandom is meant to be fun thing we do, but that we are all aware shipping is something that's made up. And that even if guys play into it or even if someone is indeed really dating we are aware that what we think about it is irrelevant. Factually, even if someone "was right" about the ship, our perception of it will be widely different than the truth of real people's relationship. Because these are real people, not fictional characters. They cannot queerbait, and jokes aside, even calling someone queer coded is weird, you guys. At the end of the day, we cannot assume someone's sexuality based on how they look.

As for the whole bokris-jance discourse. I don't even know why this is a thing? Bokris people, you got fantastic solo photos of both Bojan and Kris, full of symbolism and got the fire-water link between them that's just perfect for fics.

Jance people, you got joined photoshoot, with Jan and Nace clearly being very intimately connected, which you can interpret in whatever way you wish in fics and fanart. The fact that there are less pictures speaks volumes about how private whatever they have is.

Both have it's merits. Both have it's weight. I don't understand this aggression and fighting over art. Art all of them participated in creating by speaking with Damon about it before doing the photoshoot.

I have friends who ship jance more and I have friends who ship bokris more. The truth about both is that we simply don't know what's going on behind closed doors. Even more importantly, is whatever it is that we don't know worth losing the community we built here? I feel like every time I get into the tag, there is something new people are fighting over. This is just the last thing that seems relevant and that most people got involved into.

But genuinely, I am just tired. I hope things calm down when the new song drops, although god knows there will likely be a discourse over that as well, but hopefully...less than this.

And yeah, I do know this will probably get me blocked from one or the other side or both but let's just...get it over with. Since I feel like this will happen again, I might as well make my stance clear now. Which is-I am not picking a side. I don't think real people can queerbait and that they'd do a joined photoshoot if they didn't have a very deep connection to one another. I don't think they also need their virtue defended because they definitely knew people will speculate after this. But I also don't think this 100% means they are together. Yes, it sucks that queer people need to outright say these things, but I also wouldn't claim a straight couple is dating unless they publicly announced it.

So yeah can we all just please try to chill and do fun stuff again, please?

soooo I think the reason there are so many contrasting headcanons is not only because of the open interpretations the games leave, but because of what kinds of kirby media people are introduced to at first. you got the main games, the anime, the mangas, the light novels, etc. which. wow that's a lot of material you can build on. AND CONSIDERING THE AMOUT OF LORE EACH OF THESE TOPICS ARE COOKING???? DAWG WH

and I GUESS I can understand why some hcs are so bizarre in other people's eyes. but the way this fandom handles those different headcanons is...a lil bad.

YES I KNOW THIS ISN'T SPECIFIC TO THE KIRBY FANDOM, but the whole reason why I'm making this is to at least understand why people take it so close to heart.

and. not calling anyone out. but I do see quite a lot of posts with people (critiquing? complaining?) about how popular headcanons "ruin" the fandom (and this goes with ships too, but I'll get into that later) and all I gotta ask is

does it really??? does it really ruin the fandom?

I'm just gonna say. no. it doesn't.

you are focusing on a small percentage out of...oh idk...AN ENTIRE FANBASE? at LEAST open up a little and find a new circle if it is bothering you that much. or better yet. BLOCK! filter out tags!

with the amout of differing kirby medias, please understand that there will be headcanons that will oppose yours and that's okay! just don't be a jerk about it!

NOW. with the ships. specifically metadede. gonna try to put my overwhelming bias aside for this one I promise.

though metadede is the most popular ship in the fandom, it still comes with it's critics. and some are. actually valid! such as their relationship doesn't immediately have to be romantic. it can be seen as platonic! and I can understand why people feel that way.

but things get sour when people immediately try to crap on it because in their eyes, and correct me if I'm wrong here, metadede overshadows every other ship in the fandom. you hardly get to hear about their rarepair because of how metadede is everywhere.

if you take a step back and really look. there is a reason it is so popular. because of the LARGE amounts of media they have together. in the games. in the mangas. in smash. in official art. I mean if you wanna count the anime go ahead.

what I'm trying to say here is that compared to any other character interactions, meta knight and dedede are definitely up there for the most interaction in the franchise. and I'm not trying to downplay any rarepairs or other ships with a smaller fanbase.

BUT DON'T BLAME THE SHIPPERS! they are only doing the same as anyone else, they are going off of what they are given by canon and simply building off of that.

though, because I am a metadede shipper myself, you can take this segment with a grain of salt.

in conclusion...people can have their different takes. and that's okay! having different opinions is what builds this fandom and draws the attention of so many. but please! do not take any of these takes personal!

Welcome to the third annual Sailor Moon Rare Pair Week! The event will take place from March 24th - March 30th, 2024, but I'm announcing the themes early to give everyone plenty of time to create their fanworks.

What counts as a rare pair for this event, you ask? Any pairing that isn't Usagi/Mamoru (or any of their incarnations), pretty much! (Don’t get too hung up on the word “rare”. Just roll with it, okay?) They usually have their own week, so this event is a chance for fans to show their love for pairings other than the Miracle Romance, canon or not. You can even include poly, platonic, and cross-over ships, if you'd like! Almost anything goes, as long as you follow some simple guidelines.

Fanworks should somehow incorporate the one of the day's themes. (You can pick just one; you don't have to use both.) How you choose the interpret the theme is up to you!

A non-UsaMamo pair must be the MAIN focus of the work (although Usagi/Mamoru can appear as a side pairing or as part of a polycule).

All ratings allowed.

No smut involving underage characters, which I'm defining as under 18 years old. Otherwise, as long as the characters are portrayed as adults in the fanwork, go wild! Just please make sure to properly tag.

Pairings of all sexual/romantic orientations welcome.

Fanfics should be a minimum of 500 words. Poetry may be shorter, though. (If you would prefer to write drabbles instead, you can write five separate 100-word drabbles about the day's themes, but a day's entry should still be at least 500 words long. You have over four months until the week begins and plenty of time afterward if you don't finish in time. That's plenty of time to write 500 words. I don't think that's too much to ask.) If you're writing fanfic, I REALLY would prefer you post your fics on AO3 or Fanfiction.net and provide a link to your story, but if you must post on Tumblr itself, please make use of the "Read More" option.

Fanart should be a completed drawing. (Any fanart portraying nudity or anything of an R/NC-17 nature should be cropped if immediately visible on your Tumblr post and/or posted with the appropriate community label. You can post the full image under a "Read More" or provide a link to the image on another site.)

Graphics, image boards, playlists, cosplay photos, crafts, meta/essays, etc. are also welcome!

Comments, kudos, and reblogs are encouraged, but don't be a jerk! If you're not a fan of a pairing, please just ignore and move on.

We are now some 2.5 months away from the 10th anniversary for the airing of the Strongest Mega Evolution Act I. I am excited!

1) How to participate?

Pick the prompt that you like best for each day of the week, create a fanwork for it and post it on tumblr, tagging #tsmeweek2024 or #tsme10thanniversary! You can also pick several prompts for one day to combine, or mix prompts from different days, as you wish. You can switch days up as well! Go wild! All forms of fanworks are accepted! Fanarts, crafts, fanfic of any lengths, cosplays... Pick the medium you prefer! Prompts can be interpreted however you want. If you pick "Miare" and want to depict an alternate ending for the Flare Crisis where everyone dies, go for it! Creativity is welcomed! 2) Does PokéAni XY&Z count? What counts as TSME?

The rules are lax. The XY&Z season of PokéAni definitely counts, as TSME characters played a very important role in it. So does the World Championships in Journeys, since Alan appeared in it. As a basic principle, so long as it involves a character that appeared in Act I-IV of TSME, it counts as TSME. So yes, you can absolutely create a fanwork about Daigo/Steven exploring Hoenn with Shouta/Sawyer, or Pachira/Malva dating Carnet/Diantha if your heart desires. You can also create fanworks with TSME characters and characters they never interacted with in canon!

3) Other rules

This blog will have ship art and will accept any ship. Do not harrass people over ships. Racy pieces or pieces with content warnings will be accepted on the blog and tagged with a "n/sfw" tag and "cw" tag. For viewers who do not want to risk seeing any such pieces, you can block these 2 tags. As an artist with a n/sfw or cw piece, please help making the blog friendly for all, by putting the full art under a preview and read-for-more. Please tag the full cw as well!

if the question bothers you then please ignore it ;; but I wanted to ask what you thought of “shadow peach” cuz it’s a pretty dominant ship in the lmk fandom. Again, if you don’t wanna answer questions like this then please ignore this ask😭

alright. so. shadowpeach.

here's the thing. if you ship it, cool. i get why you would. it's sorta easy to see that dynamic between them in lego monkie kid. if you ship it , have at it! you should enjoy making or consuming content for whatever you like. personally, i see the mystic monkeys as having a familial or platonic type of bond between them (pre-betrayal). their relationship isn't much more than a short-lived rivalry and a murder in the book, so it's free to interpret as you will.

however.

there's a pervasive issue in the lmk fandom when it comes to tagging this ship. i think that because shadowpeach is such a dominant ship, some people think they dont need to tag it. because everybody likes shadowpeach, right? 🙄 now, ive done my fandom curation. i don't like the ship, i block the tags associated with it, and that's as far as my interactions with that tag and the folks in it goes.

the thing is, ill be scrolling through the general lmk tag, and ill see art for shadowpeach completely untagged. sometimes it's just suggesting the ship, other times it's full-on ship art. again, ship what you want, that freedom is what fandom is for.

but please, please don't assume that just because a ship is ultra popular that you don't have to tag it.

i know this is a problem a lot of fandoms have; one ship gets super popular, and then it's assumed that everyone ships it; any other points of view get steamrolled in favor of the big ship. and then the issue of people bashing anyone who doesn't ship it eventually comes up. in the course of my relatively short time in the lmk fandom, ive received more toxic anons than I have in any other fandom ive been in. ive gotten reblogs that just say "no" on my posts and then i go and see that the blog that reblogged it was full of shadowpeach.

it's just...tagging things correctly is the least you can do on tumblr. it's there for curation. please don't assume that everyone is going to agree with you just because you're on the biggest boat.

and shadowpeach is the only lmk ship ive had this issue with? every other thing that can be shipped is tagged fairly well, though i don't have anything else blocked.

anyways, long story short; please tag your ships.

The styles:

Sketch- just the early stage of the drawing, rough forms and somewhat messy lines. May include 1 rough color for emphasis;

Lineart- clean lineart with the brush of your choice (I have 3);

Flat colors- includes lineart and simple coloring, no shadows/source of light;

Shaded- includes lineart, more detailed coloring compared to flat colors, simple lighting/one source of light;

Painting- either pieces with no lineart (regardless of type of lighting), or those which have lineart + complex lighting/two or more sources of light.

It's a shame to feel shame over something so "trivial" for lack of a better word.

I'd argue that's all the more reason to reblog and share, if people are going to be wierd about something objectively harmless, that's on them.

I've noticed not many people reblog my billford art and sometimes they do but don't add any tags, as if they're quietly embarrassed by enjoying something that's percieved as "sacrilegious" to the commonly accepted interpretation.

Rather than make me upset or insulted it makes me a bit sad honestly.

To hell with that! Enjoy yourself! Reblog and share and proudly tag whatever it may be!

And if you're friends are gonna make you feel bad about enjoying a thing that they don't like, then they need to learn to be less petty.

I'm really tired of all the fandom confliction over the solarmoon ship-I personally don't ship it, but I do think the art is nice to look at, and while I don't ship moon with anyone in my aus or in cannon because of him being aroace in cannon, I think people should be allowed to have their headcannons without anyone being rude about it. If you look at what's going on in the fandom about this, it's really disheartening-some solarmoon shippers shutting down other people who believe moon to be aroace, others shutting down solarmoon shippers because they believe it to be incest or something. (This is not to say that the majority of people with these headcannons do this, I am merely citing examples-apologies if this comes off as otherwise.)

Honestly, the position people have on the ship depends entirely on their own perception of the show-i don't think people who ship solar and moon headcannon them to be siblings (though I certainly can't count as a representative for anyone because I don't dabble there too often), and those who see moon as something other than aroace are just following their own personal headcannons-to me the ship kinda just seems like the offset of an au-cannonically speaking, of course, moon is aroace. I don't think (or rather, I hope-somewhat optimistically, in lieu of certain circumstances) that people are arguing about what is cannon, but rather what the 'right' interpretation of the characters in general is-which sort of defeats the purpose of having a diverse fandom, because the point is to have different headcannons. And that means that sometimes people's own interpretations will conflict-and that's okay!-just please understand that your interpretation is not the only interpretation that there is. And that is not to say you can't block the tags or declare yourself against something-that's completely fine! But going onto other people's posts and arguing with them about their position, or barging into someone's askbox to chew them out for something that you percieve to be wrong is not how people go about things. Please treat other people and their opinions with the same respect that your are entitled to-no one is asking for a debate on headcannons, so please just keep your opinions to yourself if you disagree and block the tag.

I would like to apologize if this comes off as rude or passive aggressive, that is not my intention and I personally have no opinion on this matter-I am merely speaking as someone who has seen the effects of this conflict on the fandom. Also, thank you to the moderators of this blog for giving people the opportunity to vent about their opinions on the show.

Mask (Baby Hero of Time) looks like that because he's worn the Fierce Deity Mask too many times for extremely long periods, and now it's started to stain/scar his skin.

I'm also putting her little doodle she made me bellow too.

Mask (Baby Hero of Time) has a/his shadow following him around. This is apparently my sister's view of their relationship.

(She was nervous about letting me post the gif and required that I clarified that it's a low effort, quick animation she only made to get a laugh out of me, lol. She was correct about making me laugh. I was in tears for, like, an hour.)

These pieces of art are both from an AU of mine that we roleplay a lot.

I'd explain more, but it's built off an alternate timeline/universe of @wutheringmights story "Call them brothers". And I'm not sure what her rules are about fanart or fanfics, mostly because I never asked or looked into it and I never intended to.

I make AUs for the fanfics I read, write fanfics for those fanfics with thousands upon thousands of words in them and then never post them or do anything other than hand them to my sister to read. She does the same with her art.

...Fandoms are messy enough without me accidentally stepping on someone's toes. (I think my sister doesn't post her art because she's too unconfident though.)

That aside, Call them brothers is literally my favorite fic I've ever read. I know we like to throw that phrase around in the fandom a lot, but I have every intention of getting that sucker printed and bound once it's finished. I've been reading Fanfiction for nearly a decade and this is the first one I've wanted to do that for.

If you're a person who enjoys darker stories and want a story line with some actual consequences for the characters, I'd totally recommend it. The last time I was this gut punched over characters and their development was Red Rising by Peirce Brown (My favorite published book series ever), and Wuthering's descriptions of a war ravaged country and all it's horrors is fucking immaculate.

I found Call them brothers through my desire to see a longer fic that had Spirit Tracks Link, and it did. not. disappoint.

Wuthering's takes on what Spirit's abilities, character traits, and game culture/lore are currently my favorite I've seen from anyone in the fandom, and I would doubly recommend the fic just for that.

That said, it's not a story for the faint of heart. It's Dark. With a capital 'd' for a reason. Wuthering doesn't add all those tag warnings for no reason. Also, if you can't stand to see one of the Link bois written as anything other than what the mainstream interpretation for them is, this isn't for you. War isn't out of character, but he's certainly a bold take. A fantastic one, but bold none the less.

Plus there's mild mentions of Links being interested in other character's that aren't their Zeldas or their typical love interests. There is NO shipping of the Jojo's characters amongst each other, but if you're the kind of person who can't stand alluding to characters having crushes that aren't Link x Zelda, it isn't for you.

I know there's some people in the fandom who don't like that kind of thing, so I thought I'd mention it. Also, you've been warned so no being mean to Wutheringmights about it!

If you're okay with the things I've listed, please, please, please give it a read. @wutheringmights deserves all the love for writing something so good.

(Anyway, I could ramble for hours about all the reasons Wutheringmights is my favorite Author in the LOZ fandom, but this was supposed to just be a post about my lil sis's art that got waaaaay away from me.)
