people i would trust enough to let them take part in creating byler’s storyline in s5:

• taika waititi. because. yes.

• shawn levy. because he has directed some of the best and most thrilling episodes. i also believe he is a byler at his core, and would not do them dirty. we thank you for your service king

• the byler fix-it fic writers. because you work harder than the devil, and your works need to be acknowledged and beautifully displayed on screen

• jeff t guy. because we need a lot of [tender, emotional music] subtitles included in s5 for obvious reasons

• taylor swift. because her songs are so bylercore, and she has a unique way of putting subtexts and coded messages in her storytelling as well

• noah schnapp. because he would put his whole schnussy into every scene with finn wolfhard and even improvise an unscripted kiss. he is a major byler, if you can’t tell by the 18372 times he has mentioned that. he is super talented too. even when the sufferbags decided to give him 10 mins of screen time in a whole season, he slayed every frame he was in

• finn wolfhard. because he would absolutely Nail It. i know he is itching to beat his bad actor allegations, the worst boyfriend in the world allegations, and the asshole friend allegations. he also needs to maintain his reputation as playing the struggling queer boy in love with his best friend. and this time with a happy ending (cough cough not end up like reddie)

• conan gray. because “let me tell you a story, about a boy and a boy. best friends with each other, but always wished they were more. cuz they loved one another, but never together, cuz they were too afraid of what they’d say. moved to different states”

• brett gelman. because he is for byler if byler is for byler. he would make sure to have murray spend some thought-provoking alone-time with the disaster gays

• leigh janiak. because she directed fear street and is the wife of ross duffer. she could convince her husband to bring a little more fruitiness into st (as @super-nova5045 mentioned <3)

• the 58k and counting people of the byler tag. because i mean, look at us. we literally glow. a lot of us here have already visioned our own versions of how s5 byler would evolve, in our heads. imagine the power we would have if we got to brainstorm all those concepts in the writers’ room. we deserve to put our genius ideas onto the tv screens of people who call us delusional. and also we remember will’s birthday ha

like i can see them cooking together and dancing together while they do; them waking up beside each other in the morning and morning cuddles while still in that sleeping haze; them grocery shopping and bickering on what to get; them finally being ready to take on the responsibility of getting a dog together and bickering again over what to name her; painting walls in their house and ultimately getting distracted with fighting with the paint until they end up making out on the floor; taking care of the other if they’re not feeling well and just so much more. thinking about their life together and making up for all the time they had forgotten each other and pushing each other to be better is so important to me you don’t understand. they’re just so happy and they deserve it.

God, this scene tells me a lot about how mike is feeling. Mikes micro expressions from el to will, is so??? Mike seems to have some conflict going on but we don’t exactly know what it is yet, which i 100% think is going to be addressed in s5. All of the looks, heart eyes and speeches are all going to add up to mike being a gay man. I know that Will isn’t going to be used for his queerness to help a straight relationship. This will ruin all three characters arcs, it would not make sense and it would also be harmful to the queer community:(

Mikes arc: this is based off my interpretation of mike and what i think his conflict and how he’s going to end up in s5. His conflicts are his queerness and his internalized homophobia that causes him to push everyone away while also watering himself down to the standards of “normal” mike is actually a gay man who loves to play dnd with his friends, he also loves star wars and writing :) but his father makes fun of him a lot, he was bullied in middle school, and he is associated with the “occultists”(dnd group💀) at school, he’s pretty much been outcasted his whole life for being different, so of course the poor boy is gonna have internalized homophobia and he going to repress who he actually is to impress el and to seem straight. He even pretended to not gaf about dnd but immediately after s3 he joins a dnd group, clearly he’s pretending to be someone he is not. At the airport he’s wearing his silly little outfit, and argyle points out that it’s a shitty knockoff, which is a double meaning. The clothes are knockoffs of ocean pacific and mike is a knockoff of himself. He was pretending the entire day. So his conflict is pretending he’s normal. Even though he stated in the first episode(with his gay montage) that he doesn’t want to be normal but then he turns around and does this? Interesting.

Mike and eleven: why i think mike and el won’t be endgame, mike won’t have his arc of being himself again and he’s gonna repeat the same thing his parents did(nuclear family) which is boring as hell and also ew? Why are we romanticizing this possibility?? Mike changed for el, mike changed to impress el. He also feels inferior to el and he’s said “i love you” twice to her for the past?? 4(?) years(I don’t remember I don’t pay attention to milkvan) mikes arc would be useless if he was just pushed into this other than, accepting himself and being who he was in s1 and s2 where he didn’t feel the need to pretend.

Mike and will: will, doesn’t pretend to be someone he is not. He’s still in the closet but he’s still himself. He doesn’t want to pretend to be anything else whilst mike is pretending. Mike needs will to fulfill his interests and accept who he is. They need each other to be themselves and they need each other in general because they love each other. If mike ends up with will, we will see our beloved s2 mike. And we will see a more interesting version of mike than mike with el.

Mikes s5 ending: none of us know but one thing i do know is that he’s gonna have his gay little moments, and i want it to be NOTICEABLE. I want people to be like “ohhh, okay that makes sense” LMAO YK?? Also byler kiss!! I’ll take anything, as long as they kiss and confess to each other. I don’t think theyll pull a reddie or all of us bylers are going to riot💀 so i want mike and will alive, they deserve a happy ending.

Also in s5 i want mike to be with another queer character where they open up, like robin orr vickie(?🤨) or maybe even just a conversation with will. OR SUPPORT, ANYTHING FOR THE POOR BOY😭😭 el could be like “mike, ik what you are” and it would work. Please, he needs comfort 😢

The world of LMK is very technilogically advanced and in our current day and age we're getting the process of birthing children from same sex couples down, so I'd imagine it wouldn't be an issue for them even if it's a demon and a human/other being at that point)

Here's something I thought about recently: I don't think I've ever seen someone do an honest attempt to write Bill/Bev as healthy and happy together. Most of the stuff I've seen of them has it be a stepping stone on the way to Ben/Bev or as just a smut one shot. Do you have any thoughts about that? Do you think those two just could never be able to work out together? I think Ben/Bev is fine, I just wish people shipped Bev with other Losers more often instead of just Ben or women adjacent to the Losers.

I think when it first came out Billverly immediately was pushed to the backburner by the fandom. It couldn't compete with Reddie, Bichie, and Stanlon, which, if I remember correctly, were the predominant ships running out the gate in the wake of the release of the 2017 movie. Then Benverly happened. People who hadn't read the book or watched the 1990 miniseries were made aware that Ben and Bev were cannonically end game, to which people latched on to. Because unlike Bill who has many other ships, Ben's only popular ship in the fandom is with Bev, which in my opinion, is a waste. Benverly is great but Ben AND Bev deserve to be mixed around with the other losers.

Back to Billverly. I do think long term they’ve could've worked and I hate that their relationship isn't further explored by the fandom. They're sweet in the fact that they were each other's first loves. But here's a twist, aside from Billverly, my next favorite ship with Bev is Stanverly. Stan x Bev. I've read one oneshot where Bill was dating someone else and Stan and Bev found comfort with each other and idk, i think they would be cute. I've always been a secret Stanverly shipper.

If you're looking more interaction with Bev and the boys in a romantic sense, I highly recommend checking out some poly losers works. I've read a couple great fics where Bev's (romantic) relationship with the losers is so real and sweet. Granted a lot of poly losers fic do push Bev to the background (along with Mike and Ben) but there's a couple I could recommend if you want.

Hhmm, if you like talking about your Robin and Tardif, pls don't hold back! What do they like about each other? What do they dislike in one another? What is their dynamic, which roles get filled by who? Will they stick together? Are there any crisises or huge arguments between the two? Maybe I'm negative, buut I personally find the abundance of pure love/sympathy-at-first-sight-till-the-grave scenario representations a bit frustrating and unrealistic as in real life that's a minority, right?

Now what they like in one another: abridged, Robin really loves how Tardif makes him feel very human. He likes that Tardif comes from and to him represents a normal, human world he never got to experience; life and joy and flowers and fields, marketplaces and inns, travelling by river. To Robin, Tardif is proof that a normal (as normal as it gets with DD but bear with me) life is possible and that it's not out of his reach.

Tardif likes that Robin notices the beauty in everything about the world that a lifetime of looking out for himself has blinded him to. And despite everything he's gone through, Robin is still annoyingly hopeful, patient, kind, everything that he didn't know was possible in a man anymore, no less nobility. He hated it all at first, hated it violently, but against his better judgement it grew on him :)

This kiiiinda ties in with what they dislike about one another, but I think one of the more major crises that happens between them is that Tardif repeatedly does NOT let Robin engage in any sort of violence once they start to develop feelings for one another, a reckless act of way too much protectiveness on Tardif's end. Basically the moment he notices he's catching feelings he doesn't really know how to reel it all back in after spilling. This prompts Robin to get really angry at him, obvs, because he feels like he's being treated like a child or fragile glass, a feeling which he despises. They figure it out eventually tho, lol. Tardif also hates how self-sacrificial Robin can be, regularly martyring himself because he thinks he deserves it for the crimes of his family. Tardif doesn't hate ROBIN for it, but he hates that he feels that way and that someone ultimately undeserving of suffering has to go through that when so many others who actually do deserve it live cushy lives.

In regards to them sticking together, that was the plan. Tardif promising to take Robin away from the Hamlet once everything is over and setting up a bakery somewhere nice... something he doesn't know if he can truly do after everything, but something he wants to try for the sake of someone else, for once, as he's long learned that Robin is the only exception to all of his lifelong rules. But, as per DD2, that may not have worked out, and I'm still waiting on some info before getting to work on that ;) a tragic divorce arc (literally, bc they got Actually Married in DD1) where "Robin has ulterior motives of tracking down his husband during the apocalypse" might be in the works, tho 👀

I can't lie and say I'm Not a fan of pure love kind of scenarios, I'm a romantic at heart and I like to see all sorts of different types of relationships play out. But you're right, for my dark dungeon, I like to see some drama more >:) These two can get a little bit codependent and fucked up, and be so very selfish and possessive, but that's what makes it juicy hehe

What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (in other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

Hmm. I guess it depends on who's asking! I've written like... 200 fics???? I think maybe Seeing Wolves (Where There Are No Wolves) on my loserchildhotpants account is a good introduction to like... my writing style? I guess? And it covers my most used tropes; slow burn, mutual pining, love confessions, eventual smut, etc etc.

That said, I think What Used to be Mine on my someonetoanyone account is probably a better example of what my writing has transformed into.

2. Go to your AO3 "Works" page, to the side bar with all the filters, and click the drop-down arrow for "Additional Tags." What are your top 3-5 most used tags? Do you think they accurately represent your writing habits?

On my loserchildhotpants account the top 5 Additional Tags are: Fluff (111), Angst (91), Tumblr Prompt (71) [I'm not gonna count this one tbh], Romance (60), Humor (54) and First Kiss (5)

On my someonetoanyone account the top 5 Additional Tags are: Mutual Pining (12), First Kiss (9), Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence (9), and Love Confessions (8)

and yeah, these are all p accurate - on both lists, the next one on the list would've been 'pining' lmao so a p accurate depiction!

So, first, I'm not big on AU's typically. I'm a basic bitch, i like canon-divergence best of all, and I don't usually stray outside that until I'm like, running out of things to read in the canon-divergent tags lol that said, a canon-divergent AU i NEVER get sick of (for my current fandom - destiel) is time travel fuckery. Older!Dean going back in time, meeting his younger self, or interacting w early seasons Cas, or Older!Cas going back in time and meeting Stanford Era!Dean, Stanford Era!Dean getting plonked into later seasons canon and meeting Cas at all -- it's delicious to me.

23. What's a trope, AU, or concept you've never written, but would like to?

Oh, so many. I'd like to try my hand at omegaverse (i've only read a handful in my LIFE that didn't feel weirdly transmisogynistic and over-the-top sexualized to the point that it had an opposing effect where it was suddenly sexless to me? I feel like i could mASTER IT AND GET IT RIGHT i just have no plot ideas yet lol), sex pollen something or other I'd love to do, I'd love to do a time travel fic of my own, I'd love to write a djinn dream fic, amnesia fic, murder husbands fic -- i wanna do all the things!!!

On my loserchildhotpants account, I think June is the one I was most proud of that didn't get much feedback. And it's got all the hits for the reddie fandom! Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending, Mutual Pining, Love Confessions, First Kiss, it's Richie-centric and i was really proud of the pacing and imagery of June :( the only person to ever point out June to me was my friend Grace, and it made me SO happy to know at least one person remembered June by name and that it came to mind as a favorite ; _ ;

On my someonetoanyone account, I think So Tirelessly maybe deserved some more love ; _ ; i love writing endverse!destiel and i plan to write more of it in the future, but this fic was short and bittersweet and i enjoyed writing it. i was like 'oh yeah, this one's a banger' and then it didn't really draw attention lol

In a destiel rec that will shock absolutely no one, sobsicles' 'let's take a drive' changed my brain chemistry forever and tbh i had a Crisis after going through their entire AO3 bc i was like 'oh what is the point of writing actually when sobsicles is out there doing the damn thing this well i should just be quiet' sdkjfhskldjhf genuinely an amazing fic and writer

In a johnlock rec that WILL shock someone, 'The Quiet Man' by ivyblossom - it's 157k words and i could. not. put. it. down. and why is this shocking? it's in First Person POV and i usually can't handle First Person POV bc it personally gives me the cringe (godspeed to everyone enjoys it, i mean no offense, it's just not personally for me) but this fic Changed My Life and genuinely made me rethink how and what I write.

And in a final, spicy and unpredictable thorki rec that no one asked for, 'Find A Home,' by Aria and filiabelialis is... incredible. Listen, when you open the link, you'll see it's 107k words, DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED, GO READ IT, IT'S LITERALLY INCREDIBLE AND SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER STUDY SDJHFKSKDJHF PLSSSS

Not people making art of Barten Of Ganban!! Hypocrisy out the wazoo, yeah, yeah, but just. Really? The most soulless and effortless """game""" on the market? The one without an ounce of personality or originality?? The one with THOSE designs that wouldn't pass for some YouTube Kids knockoff shit???

Rant incoming.

It's so unfair how these incredibly skilled artists and writers seem to have way more passion and care for these miserable """characters""" than the developers of the game. It's nothing new that 70% of the actual story and characters is carried by fandom in an indie project. We've seen it with Nive Fights Fat Reddy's, Nello Heighbour, Pendy, and now Bobby Blaytime especially. Fainbow Rriends from way back when already felt like one of the lazier examples of that kind of bait. But this... This is irrationally upsetting.

It's genuinely touching how fandoms can form around the things you least expect. Just talking about something, analysing it, sharing it with others is a precious experience, it is a form of art. But all of it feels so thoroughly wasted on things like this, where maybe two or three people behind the original project had any love for it, and the community survives on just those crumbs of love for it, doing most of the legwork. Fans end up making so much good, amazing stuff even, with so much heart and character in it, they may as well just take full ownership of the media, because they clearly care more about it than the actual people behind it.

But the reason they could make it was because they were offered this barebones foundation. One with just enough shits given for the gears to turn in people's brains, and get them to pump out storytelling and content for the developers. I struggle to find an example outside of gaming, but Uneven Stiverse reads to me like a similar situation as well, where the community literally made up several "AU's" with far better stories and themes than the showrunner halfway in, while the breadcrumbs of "lore" they were tossed to theorise about were quickly and hastily finished after skimming some quirkier fan-theories.

Projects like this just have no worth without the people that care. Obviously, if nobody is there for any story, nobody will know about that story, but a good... Thing. Just thing. Movie, book, podcast, show, game, legend, that thing can stand on its own, if it has something to say, if it has a heart, if it's used as a vessel to speak by the person who made it, and who genuinely cares about it as something more than just a quick cashgrab, using an impressionable and exciteable fanbase, ravenous for more content.

Barten Of Ganban is worthless. It does not deserve any positive or negative attention. There is no care or love put into it. It has nothing to bring to this world. I sincerely hope it's forgotten by the people that were unfortunate enough to give a damn about it, and that they can find better ways to pour their creative hearts out.

Side Note: I feel like people attribute all the "bad" parts of a fandom to just the younger fans getting too excited and therefore "cringe", but sometimes we need to stop and take a hard look at the media we so furiously want to "protect" from children. See if it's actually geared towards general audiences, or just kids. I don't think it's a bad thing that kids like horror or cute'ify it. Horror is just a genre, some people like it, some don't. Coraline is very much a horror movie made for kids, and I'm happy for everyone that fell in love with it, and everyone that figured out the genre wasn't for them, and everyone that tried to adjust it to cater more to their preferences in media. Even if those preferneces are far away from horror, and lean more towards. I dunno, romance and comedy.

Hell, teens and adults can engage with spooks in a similar way, too. People should be able to have fun, and engage with the things they like without being mocked and bullied for it. But I do wish they got to engage more with projects that actually have some heart behind them. Otherwise it's just another forgettable piece of content, that attracts the attention of the least "weathered" demographic online. A demographic that's easy to exploit, making merch for parents to waste their money on, spinning mysteries upon mysteries and vague shit upon vague shit to keep people talking about it. And just because some adults also fell for it doesn't mean it was ever geared towards them.

Eddie finishes his super long germ rant after coming home from a restaurant and when he's done--he forgets everything around him, so when the car stops--he tries to get out of Richies car with his seat belt on and struggles until he realises; and Richies stood there-- laughing his ass off to the point his glasses slip off and its a long pause until they both burst into laughter.

Richie loved him so much and Eddie deserved to know that he deserved to know that there was someone in his life that loved him for exactly who he was and didn’t want to control him, that just wanted to see him happy. he deserved to be with someone that would support and care for him without being manipulative. Richie was that person and Eddie adored Richie in every way and he deserved to know that Richie was that person. Eddie deserved all the happiness that Richie would have given him.
