what got you into lu?? furthermore, what made you want to write about it???

Story time I guess!

I've been writing since I was eleven, properly since thirteen. When I was about seventeen or eighteen or so, i was actually working on novel that I still haven't finished (whoops!) I was trying to do some character designs and my sister randomly showed me a picture on Pinterest of BotW Link! And, well, I thought he was just the most Person Ever! I wanted to see more! Maybe he would help inspire my work somehow! I mean, she had a princess named Zelda in her stories, so it's not like it'd be weird to learn from something, right? Especially if I didn't lean to heavily into it!

Anyways, cue me a couple months later, scrolling through Pinterest, looking at almost anything legend of Zelda and running into- what's this? Link's meet? Huh, cool! Wait, there's another one? A whole AU? Look at those designs! Look at the costuming! Holy crap this inspires me!

Que me turning to Zelda whenever I wanted to get fired up for art. Somewhere along the line though, I started wondering what all this pretty art by JoJo(random numbers) was from, so I checked out her blog and hello! Sibling dynamics between two of the heroes?

I fell in love with the dynamic between the wolf trio, and honestly couldn't stand a lot of the other links. Legend was a pain in my ass that I thought was super annoying at first. I was here for WILD! He was my baby and I got irritated when he didn't show up for a while.

Yes. I was one of those Wild fans LOL

It wasn't until I started reading fanfics that I learned to enjoy the other boys. I started with the ones JoJo posted and then started looking them up on Ao3. I followed hc blogs and art blogs and anything that looked cool. I read hc after hc about relations between the boys. I found Sillus's work on Ao3 and fell in love with Legend and the Prince leg head cannon.

And then one day, while washing my hair of all things, I was struck with a shower thought. What if all the boys were related?

I thought I'd just submit the idea to a blog and sit back, but my brain took off running. How would it work? Why would it work that way?

I'd been in a writers slump and depressed as I tried to get another story off the ground, but the ideas kept coming so I drafted a outline. Days later, struggling with writing block, I said "screw it!" and wrote the first chapter of TBBU instead of trying once more to introduce a non-existent audience to a made up world even I wasn't sure about.

And, well, once you write one thing, all it takes is time!

Hey Train, do you have any Four fic recommendations? I'm sure you do, but I have to ask anyway, just in case you've found some i haven't read yet.

Hmmm, I feel like most of my favorite Four fics are ones that you might have already read, or ones that you are in the process of writing but I’ll rec them anyway just incase!

“A Concerning Oddity” by Sillus is a fun read that I return to often. Its one of those “Four needs to separate every so often and because he isn't doing that, theres some issues” fics. Features concerned Hyrule, reluctantly conceded Legend, and a Four who just needs some hugs. A little bit of angst for a lot of fluff!

“Tiny Adventures” by Lightning of Farosh is a classic. The banter between Four, Hyrule and Legend (i'm beginning to sense a pattern in my fav fics...) is absolutely great. You can really feel that sibling energy in here. Not to mention, its a tiny adventure!!! Cuteness with a little bit of action, this is a fic for literally everyone, not just Four fans. 

“Threats and Theatrics” by htruona (you're not sly, an, I see you) is just an absolute treat. This is actually more focused on the four sword boys and Shadow than Four as a united entity, but- ehhhhh- the lines are blurry there. Anyway, super fun fic with the boys giving off theater major vibes. Read this for a laugh. 

“i feel it in my bones” by Lightning of Farosh is a fascinating character study of Four. I’ve never really seen anyone take that interpretation of Four but I really enjoy it. Its different and the ending left me oddly at peace. 

“Forged with Fire” by turtleduckcrossing features good Four and Wild bonding (something that I haven't seen very much of) and an interesting backstory for Four. Good emotional beats with a bit of a twist. 

And then I'm also just going to generally recommend the “Shadows of the Past” series by AutumnAlchemist because while its not actually focused on Four, I really enjoy his characterization in all of the fics of this series.

4. Are there any writers that inspire you?

HO BOY okay so it’s funny cuz everyone loves the big name ones and while i aspire to be like seeking and sillus and train, it wasn’t anyone huge who got me into fanfic.

like obviously crazy insanely good authors like them make you wanna be like them, but if you feel like you’re not like them? it’s intimidating! fanfic wasn’t really something i’d ever considered trying my hand in.

until i read fics by newer authors, younger authors, english language learners, and they were good as frick. but it wasn’t as scary, you know? these weren’t masterpieces (not to say i haven’t read masterpieces from people younger than me or from folks with english as a second language, because i absolutely have) but they were still the bomb. i looked at them, though, and i saw someone who was trying their best, even though they weren’t like the big names. seeing all the fanfic from people who AREN’T huge and still deciding to write anyway i was like HOL ON! i like to think i’m confident, but seeing all of these people putting themselves out there inspired me to do the same and, well, here i am.

so thanks to y’all little guys out there. you matter more than you know.

18. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?

like dang uhhh While You Still Can is definitely my most chaotic as in all cylinders are firing CONSTANTLY for the entire thing and it’s just 30k of high octane insanity so i’d probably call it my wildest. XD

22. Do you listen to anything while you write?

oh no now you’ve done it.

YES ABSOLUTELY YES WHEN I WRITE FIC, STEP ONE IS SOUNDTRACK!!!

i have a livewriting playlist on spotify that i hop around in. (note: the music i listen to just like,,, in my life is exclusively video game/movie/anime soundtracks, lofi, and Christian rock sjkghdfkg) there’s a lot of Made in Abyss, Celeste, and Kimi No Na Wa on that playlist. for some reason i haven’t put GRIS music on that playlist yet, but i listen to a lot of it.

it’s funny cuz i also listen to a lotta lofi irl but CANNOT write to it. my go-to battle-scene-writing-music has been a lotta HW:AOC stuff but also this is the video i wrote While You Still Can to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtqRjGP3uoY

of course, i pick other songs depending on scenes and sometime i’m like AIGHT TIME TO GET THIS ONE SPECIFIC SONG FROM XENOBLADE CHRONICLES X. i surprisingly almost never write to zelda music unless it’s relevant to the scene somehow, which i find really funny and ironic.

when i’m writing a scene, i generally leave one song or a couple similar songs in the background on loop until the scene is done, just to keep me immersed in that moment as much as i can.

it’s funny because there’s this one song i never listen to except when i’m writing horrible, horrible angst or trauma and it’s my 5th most played song of 2020,,, (the one i write fluff to is 3rd, but i also listen to it just normally, too)

Asuran | Dhanush,Manju Warrier| Tamil [Prime]  : A Must Watch- Fair warning not for the weak Hearted, Has some Very Graphic scenes Dark and Gripping Saga about 2 families at war with each other. Vetrimaran has so smartly Merged the sociopolitical issues in the otherwise revenge story.Easily one of Dhanush’s Best Performances if not his finest yet(it is imo and i urge you all to see this to see how Lower classes are treated.It was the best Film of year 2019 Hands down for me. this one Gave me sleepless nights ,shook me like anything and i still shiver when i think of some of the things that have happened here. IF you want to see a BLOODY GOOD MOVIE watch this one.Manju is equally Fabulous as the grief stricken mother trying to keep her other family members safe.

Thambi|Jyothika, karthi|Tamil[Netflix] :From the Director of Drishyam(the original) An edge of seat thriller about a lost brother and her sister’s quest of finding him with humor and family drama included. After Drishyam another Fab family Thriller, Karthi has done a superb job and has shouldered the film well. i wish there was more Karthi and Jyothika Bonding though, Jyo is Good as always too but this one belongs to karthi 

Helan | AnnaBen,Lal| Malayalam[prime}: A very Well done Survival Drama about a girl stuck in a freezer at work place, Major Shoutout to the cinematography and ofcourse anna who’s so vulnerable int he situation yet has this fierceness in her act.

AlaVaikunthapuramloo|Allu Arjun,Tabu,Pooja Hegde| Telugu [netflix] Now this is what you call a complete family entertainer. After ages an allu arjun film which is so enjoyable and entertaining and has an interesting story too. It’s basically about a poor PA switching his child with the Boss’s child and what happens next.My only complaint is why don’t we have more of tabu and Bunny together. full on paisa vasool movie.Heard Karthik aryan is doing remake. plzz are you kidding me with this[so offended]

Sillu Karupatti|tamil| *sara arjun and a bunch of new People lol[Netflix]  Ahhh every story in this compilation of short stories is so real and So Beautiful. This one makes you beleive in Actual Love. Watch it esp for PinkBag(the first story and the 2nd one i forgot the name of)

Varane Avashyamund|Dulquer salmaan,shobana,kalyani priyadarshan|Malayalam[Netflix] This is the one that makes you miss home..leaves you smiling and you don’t realize when you’ve started feeling like you are part of the same apartment complex. again why so little of DQ and shobhana though?:( but yeah if you want to watch a feel Good film watch this one

Kaithi|Karthi|tamil {hotstar}  Kaithi is a tense, impressively shot action thriller It;’s about  A prisoner on parole, who’s on his way to meet his daughter, is enlisted by an injured police officer to protect a few cops. With the entire lot of gangsters in the place after them, can the prisoner save the day? Watch it for some Awesome Action sequences and For Karthi in probably his career best performance. Watch it before bollywood ruins it . i heard they are casting some shit actor for it. so yeah you probably wanna watch it with karthik. i was moved by the father daughter’s bond even though they were strangers to each other

Uyare|parvathy,tovino thomas,Asif Ali|malayalam[netflix]: a poignant tale of courage and survival. Parvathy is On some other High as  pallavi. it’s about an Acid Victim’s determination to be what she wanted to be to find her place in society. Brave Act and a Freaking awesome Movie

Virus|parvathy,tovino thomas,soubin,rima Kallingal|malayalam[prime] This one is quiet relevant in the times of Pandemic too. A film full of compassion  about containing a virus before it ruins too much based  the nippah virus outbreak in kerala recently. Also what An ensemble, Props to asshiq for managing to get that cast on board and then making a brilliant film.

Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal|dulquer salmaan,Ritu Varma|rakshan|tamil[netflix] Two cons fall in love and decide to mend his way and settle down with their girlfriends. But a couple of curve balls, one in the form of a determined cop, are just waiting in store. It works for it’s Twists I Mean  Who expected someof  those twists and Turns?? Watch it for it’s unapologetic nature and Dulquer’s Performance.

Chhapaak|deepika padukone,vikrant massey|Hindi [hotstar] Hah! another Acid Victim survival Film. Yup But this one is Not entirely Fictional. This one is Based on a  real victim. Equally Compelling and Amazing. Deepika is simply At her best as malti. 

Thappad[tapsee,pavail gulati,ratna pathak shah|hindi[prime] A Must Must Must Watch. If I want you guys to watch anything on this list for sure it is This and asuran. This one is What you call a film on true feminism Which speaks about Domestic abuse but that’s not it it has underlying themes of Sexism,unequality . i have raved so much about it. it is SUch a strong take  Shown in a rather tender way minus any big lectures yet it’s hardhitting and soul stirring. WATCH IT LADIES 

Oh my Kaduvale|Vijay Sethupathy,ashok selvan,ritika singh|tamil[einthusan] it’s a Romatic Fantasy FIlm and again what a twist that was barely have seen a desi fantasy film handled & presented  this well and being his enjoyable. Sweet,simple and feel good. watch for the super fun cameo by Sethupathy hehe

Kombalungi Nights|fahadh faasil,shane nigam,anna ben, soubin saher|Malayalam[prime]  The film revolves around four brothers who share a love-hate relationship with each other. Their relationship progresses to another level when Saji, Boney, and Franky decide to help Bobby stand by his love. I didn’t wanted this one to be over. Experience it i won’t say much caz whatever i say won’t be enough so i’d rather not waste yours or my time hehe.

On paper, it’s is a story that spans across a single night and it follows events that happen in a span of four hours. The film is set in a world where Kamal Haasan’s Virumaandi meets Die Hard meets Assault on Precinct 13. No Tamil action film in recent years has worked as wholesomely as Kaithi, and it’s unimaginably riveting from start to finish. This is a pure genre film and even though it panders to the masses with the way it has treated action, it’s still a refreshing departure from the doldrums of crowd-pleasing commercial cinema.House Owner

Monster stood out for its innovative idea.Nelson Venkatesan’s Monster is one of the most innovative films to have come from Tamil cinema this year. Cut from the same cloth as Mouse Hunt, the film is centred on the battle between a man (played by a terrific SJ Suryah) and a house rat. It’s a creature feature done well and it hits all the right emotional notes to leave one moved by the end of the film.
