Thoughts on Adam x Cherry

So I watched Skate 8 Infinity recently and these two have given me a lot of food for thought. And I have seen zero meta on them so here we go a deep dive on Cherry X Adam as a whole.

Honestly having watched all 12 episodes of the show. I think if we’re talking healthy, recovery, realization Adam the best options for him would be either Cherry or Tadashi.

While Tadashi has his own issues and Adam x Tadashi is a very mixed bag for me. This isn’t about them so i’ll save my thoughts on them for another post because oh boy do I got thoughts.

So anyway Cherry had a huge crush on Adam you’d have to be blind not to see it. The way he silently looks at him tells so much. I also don’t think the feelings were one sided like a lot of others seem to think.

Adam catches Cherry in his arms at one point and that has been the romantic short hand visual in hetero media forever. Its basically the writers winking at the audience that they should start thinking of these two as a couple. That they have feelings for each other.

While its unclear if they actually did date since this a thinly veiled subtext show. Either Adam and Cherry had a full on closeted secret relationship or they just pinned for each other relentlessly.

Also Adam has issues but he did in fact cherish Joe and Cherry.

There’s a clear scene where Adam takes off his hood and when Cherry remarks on the dangers of this. Adam replies that its ok if Joe and Cherry see his face, implying their special.

There’s also some bitterness from Adam and one or two remarks in present day implying Adam felt abandoned by Joe and Cherry.

Adam also refused their beefs with him and while some may take his your boring comment as face value, I dont but we’ll come back to that.

The fallout from what i understand is Adams obsessive need to find his Eve. Adam got more intense and willing to hurt others and Cherry and Joe got cut out of his life for trying to make him see reason.

I think it was Joe at one point states Adam cut them out first.

Adam didn’t want to hear it and if Adam and Cherry were a couple. Adam’s need to find his Eve must of really stung. Its kind of ironic to me that certain fans see Kaoru as not a perfect skate board partner for Adam and that means their not meant to be in a relationship.

Adams whole issue is he is looking for someone who can be his everything but a rival in competition has an opposite set of requirements then what one looks for in a romantic relationship. Adams abusive family has blurred those lines in an unhealthy manner. Skating has become Adam’s whole life to the point Kaoru being unable to compete with him equals not meant to be.

Cherry is still clearly hung up on Adam in the present day and wants to pull him back from the brink. Viewing Adam’s rejection of their offers to beef as a sign Adam still cares.

Cherry’s whole thing with Carla and measuring each degree so he can go faster, even seems to scream look at me! I can go toe to toe with you! suggesting that Adam made Kaoru feel inferior because he wasn’t good enough for Adam. He wants to both help and show Adam he is worth it.

Which I agree with for all Adam’s talk of abuse is love. Adam can only up until the Cherry affair, hurt other skaters he competes with those he devalues and objectifies as his Eve. Adam doesn’t know crap about Reki, Miya and Langa or the other skaters he trashes.

He projects a false image onto them and forgets them when they fail to live up to this image of the perfect Eve. (something he clearly learned from the aunties!) Langa isn’t even special he’s part of an ongoing pattern.

But Adam won’t beef with Joe or Cherry. When Cherry taunts him about this “ were you scared” in an attempt to push Adam to admit he still cares about him and Joe. Kaoru gets a skateboard to the face because Adam lashes out aginst the threat to his Adam persona.

Even before their beef Adam drops his madador of love act completely. He acts distant and not like his usual flamboyant self. In fact he acts more like he does to Tadashi. Your not seeing Adam in that moment your seeing Ainosuke.

Cherry wasn’t attacked for being boring he was attacked because he saw though the illusion. He knew Adam was a lie. At this point Adam wanted to drive him and Joe away. So he could continue to bask in his dellusions.

Though there seems to be some resentment that in Adam’s mind Joe and Cherry” didn’t love him enough” Adam ultimately in his attack on Kaoru rejects the reality of love for a false promise of “perfection” an Eve.

If Eve was the lie Kaoru was the real relationship Adam could of had. The one rejected for the ideal.

So where do they go from here?

I like the ship on two fronts one the tragic angle Kaoru is Ainosuke’s karma he screwed up a good thing or ruined the chance for something chasing Eve who never existed. Adam hurt Kaoru so badly he’ll be lucky to be allowed to crawl back into the friend zone. (Kaoru was still hurt/ salty by the end and he was allowed to be)

Tadashi is Adam’s second chance with Kaoru being his lingering regret. Even if Adam wanted to try again with him Kaoru has moved on.

Or Ainosuke is hit in the head with the fact he still has feelings for Kaoru and has to actually work his ass off to make it up to Kaoru and has to learn to handle an real adult relationship with someone who adores him but will not put up with his shit.

I like either option honestly because both would lead to interesting stories.

So those are just some of my thoughts on Adam x Cherry and or Love blossom.

Hi im emi and i think way too much about sk8 the infinity part 261

COLOUR THEORY TIME i just had like, a brain blast in realisation.

Reki is yellow coded, langa is blue. Usually people would ASSUME reki is the "red" character of the show because of his hair, but i think that just helps to show off his passionate and firey personality. His colour is yellow because he is energetic, friendly and most often optimistic (especially when it comes to helping people learn how to skate or make friends)

Langa is blue coded, usually used for quiet, cold and mysterious characters, or those with lots of sadness (think inside out). BUT because he is pastel blue, his sadness is lighter because of people like reki lifting him out if it. He is still young and has time to grow.

Because they are yellow and blue coded, its different from what is the usual trope of red and blue which are most often rivals or opposites. BUT because theyre yellow and blue, theyre actually perfectly made to compliment each other. I like to see it as reki being the sun to langas moon.

Now. You know who IS red coded? Adam. He is passionate and all about love and anger, the two emotions most connected to red. Because he is red, it links into his whole idea of thinking he "belongs" with langa, but he is already fulfilled by being with reki.

Then we see adams colours slowly change from red to that dark blue we see him wearing in the finale. He comes to realise that he was chasing after langa because he thought they were the same (blue = sad and hurt. Adam being a deeper blue means his emotions and sadness runs deeper aka because he has had YEARS longer to sit with his feelings and trauma) but it takes langa, a fellow blue, being happy and excited and wanting to skate with REKI not him, to show him that he doesnt have to put on this red boisterous persona. If we look at Adam through the years, he's never really had a red-coded personality. It's always an act. How he thinks people wANT him to act.

He's a blue, just like his hair and the suit he wears.

Now. Joe and cherry.

Cherry being pink is so INTERESTING TO ME. Its seen as graceful and youthful, but is also just a toned down version of red. Cherry CAN be graceful and composed, but is also full of so much anger and emotion (especially towards adam) and the fact the two are similar in colour makes me so invested. I also think Cherry has a complex colour pallet- being not only pink, but also wearing deep blues and whites. He is elegant and complex.

THEN JOE. oh joe. My deep green giant. He is down to earth (haha get it) and is always trusting his gut with everything, AND IDK IF YOU HAVE NOTICED THIS BUT HE NEVER GIVES BAD ADVICE!! Green is usually associated with grounded and level-headed characters, but green is also the colour of jealousy. Joe doesn't seem like the jealous type, but he has this strange loneliness to him. All he has is his restaurant and Cherry. He never seems to be able to fully grasp what he wants, so finds his fufillment in other places.

Now onto the fact that pink and green ARE opposites and so are cherry and joe. Where cherry is quiet and reserved, joe is loud and energetic. Their lifestyles and jobs couldn't really be more different. They argue and bicker and always seem to know what perfectly annoys the other most.

BUT!! Pink and green (while being opposites) ARE ALSO COMPLIMENTARY!!!! they work well together beCAUSE theyre so different. And being together just seems to work out somehow.

ANYWAYS. Yeah. Sun and moon coded renga are very special to me :)

Cherry

Uncomfortable with it. At first

Since he’s always had a ‘feminine’ look to him, he’s never been into really cute things; like nicknames.

He only uses the nickname ‘Cherry’ to keep his professional and SK8 lives separate.

Does get use to it, over time, however. And does end up liking it.

Preferred nickname is ‘sweetheart’.

Joe

Loves it.

Kojiro has always been into dumb, cute stuff like that. With anyone he’s dated.

He’s one of those people who rarely uses his s/o’s name at all once they’re together. Changing the nickname up until he finds the perfect one.

He calls them ‘babe’ or ‘beautiful’ a lot.

Preferred nickname is ‘honey’. (yes it is influenced by cooking)

Adam

Also someone who likes it.

Ainosuke thrives on attention and adoration. Nicknames of endearment are just another way he can feel that rush.

Plus, he’s a very passionate man. And having ‘secret’ names for one another adds just another layer to their intimacy.

He loves to whisper their special name in their ear when they are at public events or parties.

Preferred nickname is ‘dearest’.

Langa

Embarrassed.

He is still pretty young. So this would probably be his first s/o, and time being called these names.

He’d try a few out himself. Ones he’d picked up from teen dramas in the states or Japan, but gets nervous or easily flustered trying to call them that.

Langa would rather just be called by his name, and vice-versa.

Preferred nickname would be ‘babe’. Most embarrassing nickname is ‘snow bunny’.

I did hear her wrong (she thought the neighbor might have done something) BUT MY CAT CAME BACK! She was really skinny and had a little bit of blood on her ear but she's back!

Hi Squeezy! Oh my goodness, that's such good news! I decided to do headcanons for this so there are two endings, the good and the bad. I hope you like the headcanons!

Fandom: Sk8 the Infinity

Characters: Reki Kyan, Langa Hasegawa, Miya Chinen, Kojiro Nanjo, Kaoru Sakurayashiki, Ainosuke Shindo (Adam) x gn! Reader (separate)

Reki is delighted your cat has returned safely. He didn’t say it but he was starting to get very concerned that it wasn’t going to come back.

The first thing he’s going to do is get in touch with everyone who was helping him look for your cat and give them the good news.

Then, he’s spending some well earned quality time with you and your furry friend. He’d love to cuddle up with you and your cat for a while, just enjoying your presence.

If you lay most of your attention on your cat and ignore Reki a bit, he won’t be put off. He knows how much this whole thing affected you so he’s not going to begrudge you spending time with you cat now.

Langa is quietly pleased by this update. Most likely, the only outward sign you will see is a soft smile, but he’s very happy your cat is okay.

Like Reki, he’ll get in touch with everyone who was helping search and give them the update.

For a lot of the people at S, he doesn’t have a way of getting in touch with them quickly so he’ll let them know next time he’s there for a race. He’ll pass along their messages of congratulations to you.

He’ll give you a bit of space to reunite with your furry friend alone but is also more than happy to keep you both company as well if you’d prefer.

Miya is crying tears of joy. He’s so happy your furry friend is okay, he’s possibly just as happy as you are.

Sure, he knows she needs to update the internet and every one who was showing their support to you during this incident but first, he wants to spend time with your cat.

Since he’s young, he hasn’t really had a lot of experience with coming to terms with almost losing someone or something he cares about like this so it’s going to take him a while to get over this.

Once he’s had his fill of spending time with your cat, he’ll send out a post to all his social media letting everyone know the good news.

Joe is glad your cat is okay. He would be okay either way but he’s glad things turned out well for your sake. Had your cat not returned, he would have been saddened more for you than himself.

If any of the patrons of his restaurant helped in the search, he will be offering them a free dessert next time they come in.

Joe will want to spend some time with both you and your cat and will make sure you’re okay on your own before he leaves for work or S.

Speaking of S, he will also give anyone who helped out there the good news. He’ll pass on their well wishes to both you and your furry friend.

Very similar to Joe in that he will be happy for you. Cherry was preparing for the worst so it’s a pleasant surprise when your cat returned.

He will definitely suggest putting a tracking chip into your cat or your cat's collar at least. If something like this happens again, he wants to be able to find your furry friend easier.

Gives the internet a brief update before calling up everyone he contacted regarding help to give them the same information.

Then, he’s putting his work on hold for a while until you’ve both had your fill of spending quality time together with each other and your cat.

Adam is very glad your cat is okay. He didn’t want to have to carry out the plans he had for revenge should any other outcome occur.

He’s going to call up his contacts to tell them that the search is off before telling Tadashi to take charge of his business for the day.

Adam will spend as much time with you as you want. If you’d rather have some alone time with your cat, he’s happy to leave you alone but he’d much rather be with you both.

He will also use his vast resources to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Whether that’s a tracking chip, a personal drone that can help locate your cat, or making sure the garden has enough to keep your cat entertained without roaming.

I just had a thought

TadaAi are the original traumatized ones

Several reasons, some of which were uncontrollable for them, why their relationship fell apart. I made this account trying to figure out how and why that is. There’s the fact that their environment wasn’t safe to miscommunication/lack of awareness to the actions that they either took to not realizing (or realizing too late) that they’re attracted to each other.

MatchaBlossom are the original (lover) victims

They were around the same age when shit went down for TadAi, so of course they’re the ones who are most affected. I have to post something about them soon on how their role affects the 2 other relationships.

Regna are the generational lovers curse.

They have elements of TadaAi. But because they’re in a healthier environment, they’re able to express their emotions to each other, whereas the couples above couldn’t.

Sk8 has all the makings of a great magical boys show.

Langa is the protagonist who just moved and needs to make friends. He bumps into new classmate reki outside of school after failing a job interview and accidentally sees reki transform to fend off an enemy.

Reki decides that Langa could help him and join him in taking down the bad guys- cut to training montage and them becoming friends.

Reki pulls Langa along to S, which was once a community training ground for magical boys and girls turned into a battleground between magical users and the villain, adam.

Langa meets miya, the young and very powerful one. Along with joe and cherry the magical mentors, and Shadow the wild card and langa sees how powerful these other magical boys are compared to reki. And how weak they all are compared to adam.

Like?? MAGICAL BATTLES AT S???

REKI TEACHING LANGA THE MAGIC OF FRIENDSHIP????

Kojiro Nanjo/Joe

🍝 Joe is no stranger to good looking people, there are a number of different people, men and women that throw themselves at him but he had never found someone that he wanted to throw himself at. 🍝 At first he thought that it would pass, that it was just seeing something new but the more that he saw you around the more that he wanted to have you all to himself. 🍝 Now honestly despite the clear jealousy that he showed towards those that showed an interest in you, he never thought the same might be true for you given the attention that he was given, you might need to use your fans to your advantage. 🍝 Joe would often poke at your dimples when he was teasing under your eyes when he was reassuring you.

You had been helping Joe out in the restaurant the past couple of weeks, it had somehow become busier and he needed all the help that he could get. It seemed that you tending to the tables seemed to attract a different kind of crowd, more men taking an interest in the establishment then before.

There were two problems arising from this, the first being some female client refusing your service since we all know that you weren’t what they had come here for and the second being that the male clientele were far too flirty and definitely weren’t there for the food. At first he didn’t mind too much but when it became a common occurrence and now he was standing watching you interact and sell his menu like a pro while avoiding their advances. “Are you going to just stand there and glare, you gorilla?” Kaoru asked. “What are you talking about?” Joe asked as his eyebrow ticked, his attention drawn from you for a second to look at his friend. “Well it’s clear that they bother you.” Kaoru said calmly, “I’d much rather enjoy my meal without your grunting.” “What did you say!?” He asked, his outburst caused you to look over at him and giggled, you excused yourself from the table making your way towards him. “Is everything okay?” You asked. “Just fine dear.” Kaoru answered “just asking how you put up with this beast constantly.” “Kaoru…” Joe warned as you shook your head. “He’s fine just the way that he is.” You answered tapping his chest as you walked towards the bar getting the drinks that the men had ordered. “I’ll take those.” Joe said softly as he moved past you poking softly at the dimples forming from your smile. “Stop that!” You scolded him, as you waved away his hand, he smirked as he leaned down pressing a kiss to your cheek. “What are you doing?” “Nothing.” He answered but you could see his eyes on the table you had just walked away from. “Do not ruin your business over me.” You scolded him “I can handle them.” “You don’t need to handle them, in fact I’ll handle them and don’t worry about the business Kaoru brings enough to keep this place a float.” He pressed another kiss to your forehead before heading over to the table. “Gorilla.” Kaoru muttered, pressing the heel of his hands to his forehead as you giggled. “Sorry Kaoru.” You muttered. “It’s not your fault, trust me, he’s been like this for years, you are the first woman to bring it out of him though.” Kaoru explained as you both watched him put on a smile and serve the table.

Kaoru Sakurayashiki/Cherry

🌸 Cherry appreciated your beauty, everything from your dimples to your eyes and anything else that he noticed along the way, he wasn’t always good at saying these things out loud. 🌸 Carla would often be the one to compliment you, it would always make his eyebrow twitch, not to mention Joe getting under his skin by throwing you a few compliments. 🌸 You and Cherry honestly were the perfect couple doth in looks and interaction, it didn’t take long for you both to be living together and sharing your lives. 🌸 Cherry didn’t often get jealous of other people, in fact given his general vibe people very rarely approached you. All your antics came from inside your relationship.

You had been cleaning around the house while you waited for Kaoru to come home, you had been milling around the room. Since Langa had beaten Adam at Sk8, Cherry had been going through old pictures from school, you hadn’t noticed before but as you looked closer at the pictures he had left out you saw the piercing in his eyebrow and lip. “What are you doing?” Cherry asked as he walked over to where you were, you hadn’t paid attention, you didn’t hear him come in. “Just looking at your old pictures.” You answered honestly. “Oh those are not my best days.” He answered as he looked over your shoulder, you frowned. “What do you mean, I think you look very good in these, you know if I had known you then I still would have dated you.” You explained. “I’m sure.” He mumbled, you looked at him for a second before pulling him to the bed and prompting him to sit down. You settled in front of him pulling out your phone, you scrolled through an old album that had been saved to the cloud before showing him the phone screen. He looked down at the picture where you were smiling, full eyes closed, smiling, you looked happy. “Beautiful.” “Really?” You asked. “Of course.” He answered. “Even without the dimples?” You asked. “Huh?” He asked as he looked at the photo again, sure enough the dimples that now adorned your cheeks weren’t there. “I didn’t even notice.” “Mmm.” You hummed “now will you believe me when I say the same about you?” “That you didn’t notice?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, you narrowed your eyes before turning so that you were straddling his thighs. “That you were beautiful even despite the change.” You corrected “besides…” You leaned forward biting softly at his lip and pulling “it would have given me something to hold on to.” You hopped off the bed and headed out of the room. Kaoru watched you go, his face red as he looked down at the photo. Maybe putting in a ring for you every now and again wouldn’t be so bad. It’s the least he could do for you, giving him those stunning eyes and beautiful dimples.

❤ He had nothing to worry about the moment that he started to pursue you, his standing in both the skating and business world meant that no one ever tried to challenge him. ❤ Adam honestly has very stunning eyes himself, you were both the talk of the town the moment that you started dating, the perfect couple according to the press and most of his business partner’s wives. ❤ Adam made a point of complimenting you and keeping you close at business parties and outings. ❤ You’d often go and watch him skate, he gave you a mask after the first time so that he’d be able to come over and scare off anyone who got too close to you without giving away either of your identity.

You were leaning against the wall watching Adam in his match against someone you hadn’t bothered to remember the name of, your attention was pulled from the screen when someone approached you “Woah! You're so cool, are you a skater!?” The kid asked, you raised an eyebrow, you recognised the second boy, the one that people were dubbing Snow. The one that had beat Adam before you started dating. “I don’t skate here.” You answered with a small smile. “Your eyes.” The kid, Snow said as he looked at them. “Pretty striking right?” You asked. “Pretty is one way to describe them.” You recognised that voice as Joe, one of the other skates and a childhood friend of Adam’s. “Is there something that I can help you all with?” You asked. “I just wanted to know how my friend was doing, I don’t know what these idiots are doing here.” Joe answered and you raised an eyebrow, eye catching Adam skating over the finish line first, his eyes easily finding yours in the crowd as he winked. “We were just trying to figure out if they were a skater.” The red haired kid defended himself and you shook your head stepping back away from the conversation and straight into someone's chest. “Now what’s going on here?” Adam’s voice said softly as he leaned down, his words sounding like they were spoken directly into your ear. “Just chatting.” You answered. “W-what!? Adam?” The Red haired kid asked. “You know them?” You asked. “Well you know I know these two…” He pointed to Joe and Snow. “This one I know in passing.” He pointed at the red head. “Huh.” You grunted.

Joe, Langa and Reiki looked at you, honestly now that you were standing with Adam, you were far more intimidating. The way that you both slotted into what seemed to be familiar roles, something practiced and comfortable, his chin resting on your shoulder and he talked directly to you and no one else, they couldn’t even hear what he was saying over the noise around them. Both your eyes glowing in the light as you looked down at them, they had to admit that you had a slightly softer look then Adam did but you were both still a formidable pair and Joe wondered how any business partners ever held your gaze long enough to make a deal.

“Are you ready to go?” You asked. “I think so.” He answered with a kiss to your cheek, he turned you towards the car as he waved over his shoulder. “Nice to meet you all!” You called as you left.

“Woah… That is what you call a power couple.” Reiki said as you both disappeared into the crowd. “Best to stay on their good side huh?” Joe asked. “Langa already beat Adam.” Reiki reminded him. “I don’t think either of them hold it against you.” Joe said as he turned away “just try not to give them a reason to hold anything else against you, either of you.”
