I gave dessas hair a little redo since i wasn't that big a fan of how her old hair looked, but shes big trailer chain smoker vibes which is EXACTLY what i was going for. Also fun fact, she actually canonically has a fascination with guns and due to mainly trauma reasons she has a 9mil in her panties! How cute!! :3

FUN UNKNOWN FACT! she wears eye contacts on shifts but usually takes them off during night shifts, they also make her eyes look more anime like so she can manipulate her customers!

kinda out of good art ideas at the moment (used up all my Flashes of Genius for the next month pretty much) so the next time i get really bored i might tryna draw the rwd crew as arknights characters with similar vibes bc VR-LA as ebenholz (sass, tragic backstory involves the death of a close friend with very gay undertones, magic comes from a very powerful magical entity they've... bonded with one way or another, funny dps capabilities) and dani as nian (genius artificer vs genius craftsman, Ship MenaceTM, deep down very scared of losing their (found) families) are like... screaming at me. also i think VR-LA deserves an absolutely massive cape and dani deserves some really short shorts

Not gonna lie. This current Arknights event? My least favorite so far. I'll be honest... Executor really Does Not Interest Me as a character, so I don't have a lot of reason to be excited about an event centered around him. And the Residents... I do not enjoy them in the stages one bit. It's not even in a "this is too hard I don't like it" way. They are just very annoying. Like you've been standing there for at least 15 seconds or more staring at this hole and you're telling me you're just gonna jump right in and die unless I put down some spare planks???

Hello, Anon, I am very sorry for being a little late. I haven't been particularly motivated to do anything at all these last few days (which enabled me to watch the entire season 1 of Sandman in one day).

Anyway, here you go:

The land is the fictional country of Esmar, with New Calrion City (a bayside port city) as its capital. As far as development goes Esmar is roughly on a similar level of technical innovation as our world.

Other big cities are Adjama (south-east) and Zecras (north-west)

Both Southern and Northern parts of the country used to be independent monarchies, that were at war for a long time

There is a pantheon of Gods, The Council of Makers, that is recognized as the main religion (with regional differences in worship and belief)

One of the eldest Crafted Ones are the Fae, most noticeable for their colorful skin and horns

(Unicorns do not exist)

Crafted Ones is a dusty reference to a good portion of sentient beings that were explicitly (at least as the Old Texts tell it) crafted by the Makers. Other sentient beings that have in contrast to that evolved to be what they are (for example the mushroom people) are referred to as Grown Ones. These are old religious terms, that no one outside of places of worship ever really uses.

Witches are part of the Crafted Ones, mostly indistinguishable from humans at least physically, but with the unique ability to use Energy to perform "magic". Other beings, like Fae, can have a special connection to Energy but cannot use it like Witches.

Witches themselves are a younger group of beings, only coming into existence about 1550 years prior. There are two generations of Witches, the MC belonging to the younger one. They are age-wise immortal but can "die" if they chose to. As a result, most Witches have left the living world already.

Uh, so I just saw a reddit post on why Shining escaped with Nightingale, and... is that true??? You seem to know stuff on the CN side so I just want to double-check, because if it's true... then holy shit

Short answer: That post is largely a theory/headcanon and the OP does a very poor job of clarifying it as such. None of what is in that post is confirmed by the limited information of what has been revealed so far.

Long answer: Outside their parents looking similar, there is nothing in the story saying that Confessarius and Shining are meant to "unite" in "that" way. Just because the parents probably did, doesn’t mean that is the purpose of the children. There isn't anything about reincarnation either--what can be gathered is that the children (Shining and Confessarius) inherit the memories and Arts of their parents. This is how the Confessor bloodline has been operating for millennia.

I think people took Shining calling her brother "father" and started spewing theories on what that could mean.

Unless HG made a mistake in the writing connecting her module to chapter 11, they would probably have to retcon what they said about which sibling inherits which parent. Because as it stands, it’s implied that Shining was supposed to have inherited their father, while Confessarius got their mother.

That's why it's weird that Shining refers to her brother as her father. If the module is indeed correct and that line in chapter 11 is not, then Shining would be her own father, not Confessarius. In order for Confessarius to be both brother and father, he would've been the one to inherit their dad, thus making Shining's module incorrect.

Right now, there are three possibilities:

Brother inherited Dad, Shining inherited Mom

Shining inherited Dad, Brother inherited Mom

Brother inherited both Dad and Mom

Shining’s module suggests #2. Shining calling her brother “Father“ suggests #1. But there’s nothing really that suggests Shining has any part of her mom within her. But it’s also possible Mom’s memory was never touched, and is still somewhere in the Sarkaz Collective Consciousness. Or the brother accessed the father once he was old enough through his own Arts. There are too many options and it’s hard to discern which one is the most likely at this time of writing.

In Shining's module, her father told her that "our lives will be merged as one in a higher form". Another theory is that the Confessors operate like a hivemind; they transfer and pass down memories into a combined consciousness for the current generation. If Confessarius does possess their father within himself, it can explain why Shining called him “father”--to differentiate which one she’s addressing.

And quite possibly the reason Shining doesn’t seem to be part of this supposed hivemind is because she rejected her blood family. Disavowed them. It’s very clear that Shining wants no part of this.

Also we need to remember that Hypergryph LOVES being purposely ambiguous with their writing. Very few things are explicit. You know how it’s widely accepted that Gummy committed cannibalism? IIRC, that was never actually hard confirmed in the text; just very, very heavily implied that no other interpretation makes as much sense.

All in all, we don’t know for sure. Anyone who claims otherwise as fact is lying. We’re working off incomplete (and quite possibly contradictory) information.

Out of interest, do you know any good places to catch up on Arknights lore? I enjoy it but find it really hard to absorb it ingame for some reason...

I'm very lucky to have several friends who are way more versed in Arknights lore than me. I find the writing in-game to be so mind-numbing and tedious that I often skip the VN segments.

But the arknights wiki on gamepress has been very useful!
