I also need to talk about my blorbo (scar. Ofc.) so here's my silly thoughts on these two:

Theyre both aroace and awkward as fuck when it comes to showing affection. Scar loved holding hands. Mumbo does too except he's very weird about it and is always very anxious to initiate any hand holding and doesn't know if it's appropriate in the given moment (he's just like me fr)

Mumbo also struggles with social anxiety. Scar struggles with general anxiety. They're both anxious little fucks.

Scar always feels cold and Mumbo is surprisingly warm so Scar loves cuddling with Mumbo. He's like his own personal heater.

Mumbo is SO aroace and just incredibly socially anxious, like that man does NOT know how to initiate any physical touches and interactions, he just overthinks everything and just makes himself more nervous (pov a friend just hugged him)

Also!! Yes yes yes Mumbo constantly being warm for some reason?? I've been going INSANE over this idea for so long and GAHHHH his hugs are always one of the warmest, so the hermits who are almost always cold like Scar would 100% just seek out hugs from him if they're feeling down

Which I find silly cause I imagine Mumbo just being🧍while cuddling for the first few times that happens because he?? doesn't know??? what to do???? he's the completely oblivious to affection type guy. Okay hi I’ve been working on these on and off all month (mostly off I got really busy whoops) and I have A LOT of thoughts about a Legbone wedding (ft. the drawtectives cause they really are my blorbos) 

Anyways here’s a list of headcannons that I didn’t get to draw:

So right off the bat let’s talk OUTFITS

To me Legzi and Ryjinah had gone looking for dresses but Legzi wasn’t really pumped about any of them 

So maybe they went on a road trip (because ladies bookclub road trips my beloved) to either go look in a different boutique or to do other wedding related shenanigans 

And on the side of the road Legzi spots this rag 

And of course it’s a torn up wedding dress and suddenly she has a Vision^TM

Just Legzi being more excited about fixing up this dress than anything she could have just bought up to that point 

Because to me Legzi is someone who loves to feel like a part of the process and having all her random skills she picked up from Darkmouth 

Then design wise I wanted something puffy so I could hide how much taller I made her 

Because personally I think her using the leg stilts on her wedding day is not only very Legzi^TM but I also made myself laugh with the concept :) 

And florals because those are fun, green, and easy to make by hand (as someone who’s made a lot of ribbon flowers)!! The vines were places where the dress was really torn and needed more structural stitching 

Ryjinahs dress on the other hand I wanted to take some inspiration from her season 1 design (even though I haven’t seen it) 

Also I love a chance to draw some boob

I’ve said it before but “artists draw fan art of each other’s art” where Karina drew Ryjinah, York, Rowan, and Jacob horse all hanging out is CANON TO ME

Which is why all of those characters were invited!! :)

Anyways I imagine all the invitations had your standard stuff- names, dates, rsvp section

But where it would’ve said +1 I think Ryjinah scribbled that out and hand wrote “+2 ;)” 

Which of course Grandma would be slightly flustered by meanwhile York is like “AWESOME you guys can come!!!” 

I believe in drawtectives polycule supremacy and also York is aroace

Which also lead to my miniature leg wrestling joke :)

Oh but the second York and Rah’ōxah lock eyes they’re going to leg wrestle (Pokémon rules) 

Then they can become friends too and we can make Julia’s drawing in “pro artists redraw their old OCs” canon!!! 

Rah’ōxah is both Legzi and Ryjinahs maid of honor :) 

She’s awesome of course she can do both!!!!!!

I wish I had drawn this but to me Parker the cat officiated :)

Maybe while standing on top of Parker the horse 

Ryjinah was not pleased with this but also couldn’t say no to the combined force of Legzi and Rah’ōxah’s puppy dog eyes 

Plus Parker the cat is the only person (cat) they know who’s ordained

Oh last thing I wanted to but didn’t draw was a Rosé & Rowan interaction 

Or not even so much of an interaction but they catch each other’s gaze from across the room and freeze 

Oh more headcannons but they’re siblings to me 

I mean dyed hair? Knives? Mysterious pasts? Color schemes?? Attracted to himbos??? 

Anyways they both have moved on from their family in different directions 

So to suddenly meet again even from across the room 

Then York or Gramdma calls for Rosé and she looks away and they’re gone

But I digress 

Tbh for everyone’s outfits I kinda just went “you know what would be cute???” 

So floral dress for grandma (obviously) 

Jumpsuit + long gloves for Rosé because vibes 

Unbuttoned shirt and double breasted vest for York so he doesn’t have sleeves 

Similar thought process for Rah’ōxah because they give off similar vibes BUT I made Rah’ōxah’s the same colors as Ryjinah and Legzi so she could match both :)

Then a demon Johnny button on her outer vest kinda like the pin/broach she has in Julia’s drawing in pro artists redraw old OCs 

Rowan I just wanted to look swanky and what’s more swanky than a tailcoat? 

And for everyone but Rah’ōxah I tried to keep to their normal color schemes!! :) 

Are all these outfits practical for what I made a beach wedding on a whim? Absolutely not 

I gave pretty much all of them some sort of heels even if they are technically wedges which is better but STILL 

Beaches are fun and easy ish to draw and I never do backgrounds anyways give me a break lol 

But anyways I think that’s all my thoughts!!!

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA she is so ASDHSUJD. Okay I started watching the owl house because I knew there was a WLW couple, so obviously I had to check it out. But upon watching the show, I got so emotionally connected to it, or moreso the protagonist, Luz, that it could go beyond some people's understandings... I remember that almost any scene showing her neurodivergent traits would hit SO. CLOSE. HOME. It would be unbelievable. I literally rewatched the show more than seventeen times one summer. She is just so goshdarn relatable man. Okay, fine, I guess I'll make a post about this, why not. People already know me as the guy with the weird contrarian Dominion takes, what's one more going to do.

The way a lot of people portray Weyoun as a more feminine character really gets on my nerves. And I'm not a person who generally has an issue with characters being drawn or written as GNC/trans, I'm all for it actually, but it feels like a lot of it with Weyoun specifically is less about writing/drawing him actually exploring gender in a creative way and more about treating him as The Girl™ in a shipping context (usually with Dukat or Damar), in what is often a subtly or overtly degrading way.

It's like fandom looked at him and at the kind of character he is and decided "okay, religious devotion is central to this character, and that is absolutely the same as sexual submission, which is the same as bottoming, which is the same as degradation, and all of those things are the same as being The Girl in the relationship" and like. I'm an aroace Weyoun truther but even if I wasn't, that seems like a pretty regressive way to write a relationship between two men.

And on the subject of his religious devotion being a major factor in this weird treatment of him, a lot of the time, being The Girl in a relationship with the Cardassian blorbo of one's choice is presented as, like... a Better Alternative to his service to the Dominion? But is it better, or is it just bad in a different way. Because it seems to me that the way a lot of people write and draw it, it's just a different kind of subjugation. So it ends up looking very much like this:

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

113,598, not bad.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

mostly the Simon Snow Trilogy, but I have a couple of Greek Mythology/Epic Cycle fanfics too. i used to write for Percy Jackson and Marve, but not anymore.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

two old Marvel fics are right at the top, then it’s:

i want the love on your wrist (oh give me the heart on your neck), the first explicit work i’ve ever written, maybe a sign i should write more.

yes, I always try to!

definitely crimson, my COTTA fic from 2022, but a close second is Visions, a little Trojan War Helenus fic i still really like.

well a lot of my fics have fairly happy endings, but I’d say All That She Wants, an Agatha-centric fic, and Happier Memories, a proposal fic, have the most hopeful endings.

no, I don’t think I ever have, luckily!

only twice so far, though I have another stewing in my brain that might get written. I can’t really say i'm limited to a certain “type” though, i’m pretty versatile, pun intended.

no, they’re not really my thing.

not to my knowledge! i hope not.

back when i used to write on wattpad i got some DMs asking to translate my fics and i always agreed, but i don’t know if they ever followed through.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

yes, i really love doing so! I wrote a stucky fic with one of my friends years ago, but we never ended up posting it anywhere. also, the two aforementioned marvel fics were co-written with another (now ex) friend, and the tale of two merwolves was written as part of a group.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

snowbaz, definitely. it’s been my longest-running OTP (do people still say OTP?) and i’ve written so any fics for it.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

hmm, i’ve only got 3 wips and i think i’ll finish them all eventually, but blow on the tinder and we are slaves to the gods are definitely on the back burner for now.

16. What are your writing strengths?

i’ve been told i’m good at writing dialogue, which is good because that’s two thirds of all the words i write.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

descriptions and anything sappy, which gives me second hand embarrassment.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i tend to shy away from it, but if i do i always put it in italics and will put a translation in the notes unless it’s super obvious, and like when other authors do the same.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Percy Jackson! I wrote so much solangelo and was actually pretty popular on wattpad, one of my fics broke a million hits which is still insane to me. i still get the occasional message asking me to come back and finish my fics, but i logged out of that account in 2018 and am not going back.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

oh, that’s hard. i’m really enjoying writing Shoulder To Shoulder right now, but i still love All That She Wants and Liar Liar. i also really love I’m On My Way To Believing, which is a greek mythology Pyrrhus/Hermione fic. they’re my blorbos. but i’d have to say my all-time favourite will always have to be the first carry on fic i ever wrote, which got me out of a years long writing slump: Rats.

Salt and Jay's dynamic is so interesting cuz, they're divorced and yet they've never been married. Jay's a lunar eclipse and salt is a solar eclipse, feel? They can never align. Bcuz Jay's the type of aroace that doesn't care too much about shipping, doesn't have super strong opinions and doesn't really ship anyone too strongly, and salt is absolutely insane about a plethora of ships. Both for just one character, though, that's the thing; they've both got their blorbos, they're both well known to the fans of those blorbos, and their interests don't perfectly line up, neither will the relationship. They agree on many things, and salt is more solar coded so they feel more strongly about things, and jay will agree with them. Always agree, always laugh.. The red string of fate will get lightly tugged in both directions, but they'll never be face-to-face with each other, y'know? Never upfront about what they really feel. Which is why the constant divorce I think; if you're never gonna address the problems the only way to do it is through jokes, through anger through jokes. Never straight about what they really feel, never straight about anything. They're both incredibly queer, but they will never be queer.. for each other.. and they don't want to be either... It's a relationship fueled by laughs, but really it's hatred. But when you're the only two nosy neighbors fans in the universe you gotta look out for each other y'know? You gotta stick up for one another, like it or not. And that's why they'll never leave. A lot of the characters on this list are some combo of autistic agender aroace (or coded as such)—that’s where a lot of the ‘comfort’ comes from bc I love to just bask in the warmth of loving a character for traits I’ve struggled with in myself—but for Murderbot all of those levels are cranked up to maximum.

I personally headcanon Agent Phoenix to be agender and primarily use they/them (but doesn't mind other pronouns), who is the most gender ambiguous (I forgot the word) person ever like they wear disguises and don't mind looking like any gender at all and also I hc them to look like the most normal and standard background character ever, simultaneously. Also, I headcanon them to be aroace?? which was a slight surprise when finding out how many people shipped them with John Juniper but the vibe between them is nice I saw them as siblings who would fight each other constantly and are the biggest annoyances to each other. I somehow expected more shipping between Agent Phoenix and Handler but that might just be my experience with the Stanley Parable. I do get the ships between Phoenix and Juniper- the fics are nice and the art!

Have I mentioned how much I love the art of ieytd??? because I do. I love all the interpretations of the characters, the short little comics the silly little headcanons of everyone and just !!!

9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

Okay, so romantically speaking, this year I've only posted fics for Melizabeth in different constellations - Elizabeth/Meliodas, Goddess Elizabeth/Meliodas, Elizabeth Liones/Meliodas, and Liz/Meliodas. Out of those four, Goddess Elizabeth/Meliodas was the most fun to write. I just really enjoy exploring that era and that pairing to be honest. I mean, enemies-to-lovers in a holy war whose love story was so revolutionary that the gods decided to kill their own heirs?

Liz/Meliodas takes second place because Liz and the Danafor era deserves some more love - but I've only written one fic with Liz and it wasn't that much focus on her/her relationship with Mel in that one.

But if we're talking pairing as in two people with any kind of relationship (romantic, platonic, whatever) then it's hands down Meliodas & Zeldris. I mean, it's the demon bros, do I need to say more? I am, personally, a huge sucker for siblingship of any kind in media. (Maybe because I have a lot of siblings myself? Maybe because my aroace self feel a bigger connection to those relationships even tho I really enjoy romantic ones too). Plus, there is so much fun dynamics to explore with these two; Mel and Zel's childhood, the betrayal, reconciling after everything, or other stuff completely (<- I'm actually low-key working on an au where Mel and Zel are goddesses and Ellie is a demon and it's been really interesting to figure out the brothers' dynamic without the canon betrayal, also they're twins in that one fyi).

10. What work was the quickest to write?

Ooh now that's an interesting question. Let's see... The fastest ones were probably all written in February to be honest, because that was my most productive writing month (I was also doing Febuwhump which added pressure and motivation to complete the fics quick lol).

There All Along was probably the one I finished the quickest. It was written in February, within a day, and also one of my shortest fics.

My Love, It Burns was probably the quickest longer/multichapter fic I wrote this year. It was written during the end of February, also within a day I think, and, well, inspiration just struck. I had a clear idea of what I wanted to write, and was excited to try writing two different endings to the same fic. (Plus I wanted to write the endings close together so they matched up well).

But also telling how quick a fic is to write is hard lol usually I write down the idea and maybe even make the document but then don't actually work on it until days/weeks/months later...

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

This is actually a difficult question. Because while I do love writing about Meliodas (he's my blorbo, my baby - the only fic out out 25 that he wasn't tagged as a character still had him featured in the background and as a "topic"). But I also feel like I tend to write other characters' pov more than his (possibly because he's mostly the one getting whumped lol). So Meliodas is a character I like to write stories of, but if were talking point of view and all, I liked writing Merlin and what's-his-face... Gavin!

Merlin is actually a character I find hard to write (but hey it can be a fun challenge) but also fun to write. I especially love how she can be like a bridge of knowledge between what the other characters know of Meliodas/demons and the truth (that she knows). Writing from Merlin's pov also allows me to really tap into the age and history of Meliodas and her :)

Gavin (my oc from One Man's Beast, aka the Monster Sins AU) was fun to write because to be honest outsider's pov is really funny when the Seven Deadly Sins are involved (the chaos! lol). Also it allowed me to explore the AU in a better way. (<- speaking of, I'm playing around a bit with the outsider's pov in my next Monster Sins AU fic too, because a part of that one is from Dreyfus and/or Hendy's pov)

Corunir vs Eldacar of Gondor

Corunir:

Ranger of the North; part of Golodir's company. Waited for his trapped friends for years (Lord of the Rings Online character)

he's a ranger of the north who followed his captain to angmar despite aragorn very specifically telling them 'hey, angmar's super dangerous, Do Not'. most of his friends got stuck and/or killed by some haunted statues, and he kept trying to cross the statues to go help them (failed many times til they almost killed him) and just waited for them on the other side for years before he managed to get a message back to the rest of the rangers. love his friends So Much and will not stop following them into stupid dangerous situations

Canonically the ranger who would give the best hugs

he's loyal to a fault, staying behind (alone) in the dread-realm of Angmar just desperately hoping for word from his captain. He couldn't make it further east to where Golodir was because of a valley of powerful watching stones that killed like half of their company when they passed through them the first time. Corunir was trapped on the west side while the survivors made it east, but kept trying to pass them for years and years "until my very spirit was broken within me" as he puts it. like. dude. this poor guy! he kept throwing himself at the valley of death-statues for years and he somehow survived. he was broken by it but he did it out of that stubborn loyalty, because "I could not abandon my captain" :( he just wants his friends to be ok!!! I'm literally so normal about him. also he's somewhere on the aroace spectrum. this is canon probably dude just trust me. we love an aroace-spec king

Eldacar of Gondor:

The twenty-first King of Gondor, also known as Vinitharya. During his reign the conflict known as the Kin-strife occurred and he was forced from his throne for ten years.

The blorbo of all time actually. He’s the protagonist of one of the most interesting stories in the LoTR appendices, the Kin-strife, and everything about his life story is so fascinating! His father was the crown prince of Gondor and his mother was the princess of Rhovanion so not a Númenorean. As a result all the racist nobles of Gondor made noises about how Eldacar was of “lesser race” and wouldn’t live as long as a “true Dúnadan”. One of the most fascinating examples of fantasy racism in Tolkien’s works imo – the bigotry is awful but the bigots have a shield to hide behind! Obviously their concerns are actually valid because they just don’t want their king to die young! (Their concerns aren’t valid. But I think the worldbuilding here is great.) Anyway Eldacar was born in Rhovanion and given the birth-name Vinitharya, but when he returned to Gondor aged five he was obliged to take up the Quenya name Eldacar, presumably to pacify all the racists in Gondor. He’s the EMBODIMENT of mixed-race/immigrant child trauma my beloved. Eventually his father died and he ascended to the throne of Gondor, but then his shitty second cousin Castamir (all my homies hate Castamir he’s the worst) started the civil war known as the Kin-strife and usurped Eldacar’s throne. Eldacar was forced to flee north to Rhovanion but Castamir captured his eldest son Ornendil and had him cruelly put to death which is SO SAD. But Eldacar, being brave and resourceful and clever and extremely cool, put together an alliance with his mother’s kinsfolk in Rhovanion and after ten years reclaimed his throne, which turned out to be slightly easier than expected because Castamir was The Worst and all his subjects hated him. And Eldacar PERSONALLY fought and killed Castamir HIMSELF and AVENGED HIS SON which is extremely important when you consider all the cringefail elves in the legendarium whose quests for revenge didn’t really go anywhere at all. Then he lived to be 235 proving that all the idiot racists who were worried about his lifespan didn’t have any idea what they were talking about, as is par for the course with racists. Also the Kin-strife itself has such far-reaching consequences for the history of Gondor! The Corsairs of Umbar, Gondor’s long-standing enemies, are actually followers of the descendants of Castamir. And during the Usurpation of Castamir Osgiliath was sacked and burned, leading to the beginning of its decline as Gondor’s greatest city. Even though Eldacar’s story is, to me, ultimately hopeful, it’s also such a fascinating turning point in the history of Gondor. Also ALSO he’s explicitly surrounded by textual ghosts which is really fascinating. His father Valacar has “children” plural – so Eldacar had siblings!! What were they like? How did they react to it all? And his son Aldamir is described as Eldacar’s second son and third child, meaning that he had a daughter too. Who was she?? What happened to her? He’s such a blorbo and there’s so much interesting stuff to dig into around him and he has to win this entire tournament please please please❤️

Monkey King's Guide to Physical Contact

Fandom: Lego Monkie Kid / Journey to the West Rating: T Words: 15,913 Status: Complete Oneshot

I've recently re-read this, and even knowing exactly how it was going to go, I still teared up a bit. I have never wished harder than I can reach into a screen and hug a fictional character. The emotions and potent and visceral (and still in character!!! everyone is so in character it's so good) and this fic can dig into your soul if you blink. It does take into account S1 and S2 of Monkie Kid, but honestly, you can probably read it without knowing the show plot, if you know your Journey to the West synopsis. (Though LMK is an amazing show and I also highly recommend it.)

Essentially, have you ever considered how an immortal monkey deals with immortality? How a social creature navigates a world of customs, over and over, again? How he copes with repeated trauma? How he deals with outliving his friends? (Spoiler alert: it's not well.) Luckily for Wukong he gets surrounded by a cast of Straight Up Cinnamon Rolls and the oneshot has a happy ending, in that sense, but man it hurts. I never considered the emotional repercussions of a tactile creature such as a monkey being buried under a mountain for 500 years but now I have. Now I have... ;-;

Always Chasing After Something

Fandom: My Hero Academia Rating: T Words: 291,994 Status: Complete. Two parts, total of 43 chapters.

「While his class is on internships, Aizawa seeks out an underground informant to get information about the League of Villains. After a disappointing conversation, Aizawa finds the informant badly injured and takes him for medical help. And finds out how young this guy really is. And that there's another kid. With no parents in sight.

Look, they're underage, he HAS to get involved now.」

It's a canon divergent AU of MHA, that takes the synopsis of wait if Midoriya was kidnapped as a kid by the AfO foundation, and man does this plot slap so hard. You can set canon to the side and still get allll of that juicy character content. This is an Erasermic story, but they're already established and it's more focused on parenthood than romance. Because yes, this plot mostly focuses on adopting one traumatized and jaded Midoriya and one also traumatized (as per the usual) Eri. And it's amazing.

It balances the POVs so well. The suspense in this fic is insane and addicting but also the fluff is the fluffiest most wholesome bits you ever did see. This fic has it all. It's so found-family shaped, but with everyone (except maybe Hizashi) in that family being a startled cat that has to be eased into it. Slow-burn found family? Except also with the "I've had these children for two days and if anything happens to them—" mentality at the exact same time. I don't know how to explain it, but the flow is immaculate and the trauma and ptsd is very well addressed, without it becoming too grimdark or anything.

This mad lad managed to turn a month full of prompts into not only a cohesive fic, but a really wholesome and moving one as well. Jason-centric, it's the cathartic joys of seeing a Red Hood from a more emotionally constipated Batman cast getting zapped into a world with a less emotionally constipated Batman cast, with Jason tumbling straight into adopting a tiny version of Tim. And with him, via dimensionally shenanigans, still having a developing siblinghood with his OG Robin Tim. This fic has all of the joys of DC-brand dimension travel and none of the frustrations, because even though it's a lovely whump/hurt comfort prompt month, family fluff is solidly on the table.

Fandom: Twisted Wonderland Rating: G Words: 62,244 Status: Ongoing, on a break, but 18 chapters thus far

Y'all I made the mistake of scrolling past this once but I was incorrect: this is the best thing ever. Utterly amazing. I don't know what black magic was cast to keep everyone in character and explore character arcs when half the cast is five and the other are adults, and keep true to their in-story ages, but damn. This person did it. They did it soooo well ;-;

I don't even care if you know nothing about Twst. I will thrust this fic into your hands. (Though if you do it's sooo good. Cater gets all of his trauma addressed baby. And everyone else too is just asdkjfsdjgsg ughhh trust me it's so good.) This fic really does balance heart-restoring, tooth-rotting fluff and then the most existential, quiet, real-life shaped sort of hardships, and it's masterful. I laughed. I cried. (Legitimately cried: tears exited my eyeballs for a solid five minutes. I am going to draw that scene one day It's in my drafts. It's coming.) Sometimes you get the kiddos decorating cookies and turning them into toys; sometimes the five-year-old is asking why his dad can't pick him up yet again. Sometimes the teacher is getting a little too excited trying to share the joys of teeth hygiene; sometimes the struggles of being an only parent are a little too noticeable. This fic may be ongoing but I don't care; it already has it all, and each new chapter is going to come for my emotions. Which ones? Debatable. Could be all of them, all at once. (It probably will be.)

I've recently reread this one, and to be honest I have read it multiple times. It's short and sweet and it means so much to me. Cyno and Collei's special brand of awkward bean found family just gets me. (Somehow, despite being written before the reveal that Cyno has his own messed up childhood with even more parallels to Collei, it manages to encapsulate that essence so well.) It is a very sweet oneshot of a very (rightfully so) bitter, chronically ill and traumatized girl and an awkward human-weapon-of-a-matra just... traveling from Mondstadt to Sumeru. Just little snippets. Yet each snippet does so much for the characters, in such little ways, and I am constantly in awe.

i see cyrus as autistic and adhd tbh. the way he gets so hyper focused on his work that he literally does not perceive anything else around him is a bit too relatable, and he strikes me as a very brilliant man who simply does not retain information unimportant to his interests. he could tell you the precise components of the most advanced computers and explain their relationships with one another, but hell if he knows who the president is. you’re lucky if he even remembers what day it is. this man constantly uses reminders and alarms for sure. 

he’s on the aroace spectrum i think. i’m not exactly sure how but he just gives me those vibes. 

also transmasc swag tbh?? i think i’ve seen that hc around and it goes hard 

hear me out. cyrus listens to rap. this is based on absolutely nothing at all i just know it with my very being. he likes stuff with fast, predictable and heavy beats. would totally blast shit like masquerade by siouxxie sixxsta at full volume in his office. it helps him get in the zone. idk what to tell you man [<- 100% projection] 

cyrus is like. absolutely fascinated by zane. he admires dr julien’s work so much and wants to study zane under a microscope. as he gets to know zane better personally though, i think he would realize that he has been looking at things through the lense of an engineer for so long that he forgot zane was just like his human family. it’s not that he ever viewed zane as simply a machine, quite the opposite - he fully acknowledged that dr julien had created a full person, and an incredible one at that - but cyrus still has to remind himself that people don’t like being poked and prodded. [the moment he makes the mental connection between zane getting put on an examination table and himself getting operated on by the overlord against his will, he realizes the error in his line of thinking] 

oh yeah. the trauma! yeah cyrus might be just a little bit majorly fucked up over the overlord thing. the overlord did amputate his right arm after all, which leaves him with only one fully functioning limb. he still has nightmares about it. getting used to a prosthetic arm wouldn’t have been such a hurdle if the overlord had put any sort of thought or care into the operation, but it left him severely scarred up and just fucked in general. however! as the years pass he becomes pretty much fully accustomed to his situation and doesn’t let it inhibit his creative passions. 

also when zane died in s3 cyrus was super broken up about it and blamed himself for it in part. then, not days later his daughter disappeared for reasons he would not understand until like a year later, which totally messed him up. he inevitably threw himself into his work in an effort to not feel anything. he didn’t take very good care of himself during this time. when zane returned from chen’s island, he let pixal explain everything to cyrus, who was just glad they were alive, but the whole situation took a really long time to get over. 

when he’s hyper focused he forgets to eat/sleep etc and can run on fumes for hours before his body suddenly becomes a wet paper towel in a parking lot at 3 am and he has to konk out at his desk. thankfully he has people looking out for him, and he’s slowly getting better about it, but once he gets started sometimes the only way to stop is by brute force. 

i absolutely love @alanshee’s amazing cyrus headcanons, so you should totally go check out her takes. she has some really cool headcanons about his 16 robot children [in reference to a line where cyrus mentioned pixal was the 16th iteration, i believe] and they always make me smile so big. a lot of my headcanons are inspired by her stuff!
