You're chilling on the couch watching your favorite show. Daryl joins you because he wants to learn about your interests.

"Wha's tha?"

You were curled on the couch, blanket over your body and a stuffed animal in your arms as you watched the tv.

You hadn't even heard him when he came in and only noticed his presence when he plopped down next to you and stole your snacks.

"Huh? H.. hey!" You snatch a handful of snacks as you turn your attention back to the bright pink screen.

"Whatcha watchin'?" Daryl had only recently started living with you and was still getting used to your day-to-day routines, especially on your days off work.

"RuPaul. Never heard of it?" You didn't even turn to face him as you talked, not wanting to miss any of the drama.

Daryl scoffed beside you, laughing at your question as he reminded you of his household. "Yes, dear. But Merle's all nicely tucked away in jail and we're not bailing him out again, so ignore his mental assholery and just watch. Food's on the way."

An amused smile pulled at his lips as he settled properly next to you and tried to catch what this show was about.

As the first episode went on Daryl just ..stared.

"Who's tha?" The question came as the bald man in his crazy suit walked into the bright pink room.

"That's RuPaul. He's the show creator and host." An acknowledging hum was given before going back to trying to understand again.

On screen the contestants were doing their runway makeup after spending most of the time working on the sewing challenge.

"How can ya understand wha' they're sayin'? I aint' even know half of them words."

You let out a laugh, quickly trying to muffle it and apologize. Letting him know he'd learn eventually you turned your attention back to the tv as the runway intro sound started.

A large, gorgeously dressed woman appeared on screen, doing a theatrical entrance and welcoming the judges.

"Who's tha' then? Sounds jus’ like tha’ host guy.” Daryl's questions kept coming. Not that you minded, though. It meant he was actually watching and somewhat invested in one your interests.

"That's because it is RuPaul again."

"Tha's really the fancy suit guy from earlier?" His eyes were locked on the screen, deep in focus as he stared at the woman. ..man?

"Yeah, there's a good reason why she hosts the show." There was admiration in your tone and he couldn't place what aspect of this show earned that admiration just yet.

"Yer shittin' me righ' now." He looked from the screen back to you who stared at him and nodded. “There aint’ no way tha’s the same person.”

"An' why's it She now? Cuz there's a dress on?"

Your smile widened and you snuggled into his side. "Yeah! See, you'll learn."

Seeing Daryl so involved in something his entire environment as a child had shunned warmed your heart. And he was right when he mentioned his family earlier. You could also still hear Merle's voice yelling all kinds of homophobic, racist slurs at any little thing that didn't go like he wanted it.

You both watched all the queens do their runway routines with you spilling your opinions out loud and Daryl sometimes doing more than hun in acknowledgement to your comment. A "yer righ', looks weird." might have been the most he said, but it was something nonetheless. When the judging started you even got a "ya really gotta translate fer me sometime." A shrug and an okay gave him enough answer for now, as you watched the two bottom queens stand at the ready to start their lipsync. "Wait wha's up now? I missed sumthin'."

"They're the worst ones this week. They perform a song and the best one stays." The song was announced and with the one famous quote it started playing and the two started their performance. Daryl had seen girls dance around poles and whatnot at bars he used to go to but this was something else. As the song went on you'd let out an impressed 'woah!' or a gasp, and even Daryl let out a soft "damn." at an impressive twirl and an "oh shit." as one of them dropped into a split.

Right between the end of the song and the winner announcement you glanced over at your partner who nodded at the tv, impressed with the performance.

"I hope the one in yellow wins." You state as you nudge him. "You?"

"Yeah. Yellow's good." You both watched as they went through the elimination talk and you cheered as the one you wanted to stay did win.

As you continued on with the next episode your doorbell announced the food had arrived.

Daryl went to fetch it as you got plates and cutlery and set up the small table to eat on the couch.

When you both came back you both got your food plated and sat down to continue on with the show.

“So,” you swallowed your bite of food. “Do you want translations? Or pause the show to get explanations?”

He gave it a short thought before shrugging it off and letting you know he'd save the questions for after the episode.

So you watched. Comments were still happily given mostly by you but Daryl started giving some lovely critiques as well eventually. Ones like "Man, why's tha' one always bitchin'?" when one of them kept complaining about judges' calls and whatnot.

During one of the sad, emotional conversations Daryl let out a comment that compared the mentioned parents to his own and how they would have reacted maybe even worse if he’s ever had to go through such a talk. You cuddled into his side even more, practically laying in his lap now as you listened to his heartfelt talk while watching the last bits of runway prep.

As the runway intro started again and banter between Ru and Michelle went on you both genuinely laughed.

“I like ‘er, she’s feisty.” You looked up at him from your spot now all the way down in his lap.

You shook with laughter in his lap, complimenting in his taste in women and agreeing to like her a lot as well. The runway starts and Daryl points out one of the queens “tha’s the one tha’ had the backwards cap on earlier? The bitchin’ one?” It was so cute how he tried to tell which queen was which workroom guy but he did get it dead wrong. “Oh, no sweetie. The bitchy one was the second one, with the high ponytails and the belts.” You saw how he gave it a little thought and seemed to connect the dots, so to speak with an “aigh’ yeah, tha’ one.”

On the screen the queens kept coming down the catwalk and showing off their looks as yet another question arose. “So wha’ about those tits?” You burst out laughing at the directness of his question as you thought back and indeed not seeing any breastplates on screen in the workroom yet.

“What about the tits, Dee?” Your breathy laughs were slowly calming down as you waited for him to elaborate. “Them skinny ones, there’s some real lookin’ racks on ‘em. An’ they aint’ got any fat to shove in a bra.”

“Well, Daryl. Them’s fake silicon tits.” You faked his accent before reverting back to your own to continue your answer to the question you thought he’d be saving for after the episode. “They’re like tank-tops, but stretchy silicon that are matched to your skin tone and stop right where the boob ends. The arm and neck holes are hidden with sleeve straps and necklaces.” You could see him stare and think again. He had been doing it a lot during the episode and maybe he was finally starting to understand it all. During the judging emotions were high again and you both watched as the queen poured her heart out on the stage. It might not have had anything to do with the challenge but it was a continuation of that earlier talk at the mirror that was still fresh.

"Mah dad would'a sent a huntin' party after me if I'd even look at a guy fer too long, let alone admit I was into 'em."

You had to go and pause the episode for a moment to let that sink in.

"Daryl?" You rolled over onto your back and looked at him. "Something you wanna share with your girlfriend now that you're in a safe place to talk about it?"

You got a look that was him clearly thinking about the conversation, before his eyebrows shot up and he looked down at you with an ‘oh shit’ kind of look. “Wha? No. I aint’ sayin’ I am.” He had to think first before phrasing this wrong again. “Wha’ I mean’ta say’s I can tell ya if a guy yer eyein’ at the store looks nice, ya know. Like ya girlies all do to each other. Bu’ if I ever let tha’ slip around my family I’d get beat fer bein’ a sissy.”

You reached your hands up to grab at his cheeks and get him close enough for a kiss, being helped up a bit as you couldn’t reach and gave him a loving kiss. “You know you can comment on pretty ladies too, right? If you spot one I’d love to get a peek too!” Daryl laughed before pressing his lips against yours again. “I know ya like them good racks an’ squishy butts too, sunshine.” He pulled his arms away from under you making you drop back into his lap with an ‘oomph’.

“Now unpause.” He pointed at the tv as he stuck his tongue out to you. “Wanna see if the bitchy one in the sparkly blue thing goes home. I’on like tha’ one.” Rolling your eyes and giggling you got comfortable again to finish the episode and see if Daryl’s wishes will be heard.

This is pretty much just a crack drabble since I am currently attempting to catch up to all of the requests! Thank you for being Patient with me!

Dabi

This gremlin knows what Homestuck is and can’t stand the fact that he understands the references Toga makes to it. Also possibly one of the few who has actually read homestuck on this list, and won’t hesitate to correct Toga or Shigaraki if they fuck up a fact.

He also really is into The Walking Dead. You can’t tell me that Kurogiri doesn’t have a TV set up somewhere in the bar so he and Shigaraki can sit and watch. This does end up with the majority of the league having a once a week get together where Jin gets Pizza, Toga gets several boxes of soda for them, and Shigaraki sets up everything.

Denki Kaminari

This bitch was into homestuck. Like he wasn’t just into homestuck, he was INTO homestuck. Most likely one of those kids that used to jump on Omegle in a shitty cosplay for those homestuck Omegle cosplay meets the fandom used to do. He also totally has a genderbent Nepeta cosplay, a Dave strider cosplay, and a Jake cosplay SOMEWHERE. Most likely to accidentally wear a homestuck shirt to class.

Never once picked up a Harry Potter book or watched the movie, but you know this kid has a hufflepuff robe in his closet and some hufflepuff merch. He doesn’t know shit about the actual canon since he is just there to vibe

Really into Kpop. BTS, Blackpink, ITZY, EXO, Ikon, BlockB, BigBang minus Seungri cause he is icky, SuperJunior, NCT, WINNER, Got7, Red Velvet, (F)x, and more. Like you can’t tell me this guy doesn’t listen to girl groups and shit like BTS. (His bias has to be J-hope) He also bops with Mina the most. These two also most likely post dance covers of the songs to instagram and TikTok, so they have quite the following. (But their best video was their “Boy In love” cover they did with Kirishima, Deku, Shoto,Jirou, Momo, and Bakugo.)

This kid was also into Five nights at Freddy. He owns all of the games and will still play them with the Bakusquad, but he is pretty quiet about this fandom just because of how BULLIED he was for enjoying it.

LOVES Danganronpa too. Bakusquad do a weekly game night and they all went through all of the games. Let’s just say Denki cried a LOT at the deaths. Like a lot. (He may have a few cosplays of his own too)

Eijiro Kirishima

Kirishima liked Supernatural just because of how manly Sam and Dean are. Like fuck yeah, he wants a chevy impala too cause it is a beautiful car and wants to know how to protect yourself from shit like demons and angels. He never did much besides watch the show, cry a lot, and try to draw the characters. (Also he had a crush on Dean just cause of how badass and manly he is, but nobody can blame him)

He totally sat and watched Denki play Undertale, so he knows all about it. His favorite character is Undyne and he actually cried when they beat her in Genocide mode cause holy shit dude. That sucked. Oh and Sans. Fuck Sans.

He enjoys Kpop and will listen to it with the Bakusquad. He really admires BTS for how much of an impact they have made not only on his friends, but also the world itself and you can’t tell me that this guy doesn’t think the world of Kim Namjoon. Like he listens to Mono on repeat and is such a big RM fanboy. Also really likes Bigbang (He thinks Daesungs voice is so nice and will sleep to his singing if he could), and Kyungsoo is his favorite in Exo. Cried when Bigbang started coming back from the Military, and cried harder when Kyungsoo had to leave.

Danganronpa is a game he really enjoyed with his friends and will even replay from time to time. He gravitates towards the really manly characters, but some others have spots in his heart. Mondo, Sakura, Gundham, Nekomaru, Kaito, and Gonta were his favorites. Let’s just say the game didn’t treat him well.

Fumikage Tokoyami

He ended up picking up the Harry Potter books and fell in love with the world itself. You can’t tell me this guy doesn't have a limited edition trunk set of the books hidden in plain sight. Like everyone thinks that the trunk holds something like crystals or some bones or knives but nah. It’s just his Harry potter books. Oh and Midnight totally gave him a Ravenclaw scarf around the holidays. You can’t tell me otherwise.

Death note? Death note. Only to episode 25 though. 25 happened and he just hasn’t continued watching cause it isn’t the fucking same.

Hitoshi Shinsou

Shinsou liked Supernatural for a while, but he eventually lost interest. He did his best to also never get involved with much of the fandom since it honestly scared him a bit, but his fear didn’t stop him from posting some theories into discussion boards.

He listens to Kpop a bit since he hangs out with Denki a lot and found out he really enjoys Ikon, BlockB, BTS,

Bitch was in the Creepypasta Fandom. Like not even the good ones, he was into Jeff the killer and Eyeless jack and all of those ones. Sure, he would listen to the others and read the crappy ones, but he had a phase he is mildly ashamed of now.

This kid loves everything relating to Stephen King. He will have conversations with Aizawa and Hizashi about the books, and they all agree that Kings writing can rather be extremely amazing, or be the equivalent of a 13 year old attempting to write smut for the first time. It’s so damn funny to him

Hizashi Yamada

He has read all of the harry potter books and actually enjoys them quite a bit, but he tries not to let that show too much. He does have a Slytherin lanyard that holds his keys though that Denki had mentioned. It managed to get Mic off track for the class period when he started discussing the books with the students (Mainly Izuku, Tokoyami, and Denki)

He watches The walking dead with Aizawa

Actually bops to Kpop after the Bakusquad introduces it to him. Massive RM fanboy so he and Kirishima will occasionally go off about how admirable and badass he is. Like RM taught himself english just from watching Friends??? And Hizashi admires that so much. He also loves diving deeper into their lyrics since they normally have such good meanings.

Izuku Midoriya

Oh he loves Harry potter so damn much. He has the books on his shelf, a Gryffindor robe in his closet, a full uniform, and several wands. He is such a nerd so you can’t tell me he doesn’t have a special notebook that has notes on the spells, character analysis, and a variety of different facts.

Really enjoys listening to BTS! He doesn’t know much about other kpop groups, but he really enjoys dancing with Mina and Denki (even if Izuku has 2 left feet and struggles with dancing)

Had a Dragonball phase. Like this kid loVEs Dragonball. It’s actually one of the reasons why he and Katsuki grew to be friends since they both watched the show. They would talk about how they would beat Frieza or the Ginyu squad all of the time.

Katsuki Bakugo

This bastard finds himself actually enjoying Kpop after Mina and Denki go off about their favorite bands, and he really finds himself enjoying BTS, Day6, and SHINee.

Danganronpa was a game he experienced with his friends and FUCK was it an adventure for him. He got really invested with the story and for a while, the Bakusquad chat was active as hell because of all of the theories he had. He fucking HATED Byakuya, actually shed some tears for Fuyuhikos’ character development and Gundhams death, and was about to throw hands during the 4th chapter of V3. It was a Rollercoaster of emotions, but he loved every moment of it.

This kid had a Dragonball Z phase. No shit he would wake up, watch an episode of Goku screaming, and then go out to play. Honestly this routine started when he was 5 and he will still occasionally watch it. He still loves Dragonball, and he totally has a collection of dragonballs somewhere.

After Shoto and Momo watch Rupauls Drag race in the Common room, He gets hooked. His dad is a fashion designer, so he finds himself really enjoying the fashion aspect of the show as well as the makeup part of it all. He actually does Minas’ makeup occasionally and once people start finding out, he becomes their makeup artist. The girls makeup, and occasionally he will do drag makeup on the guys if they ask. Sometimes the Drag viewing parties start by Bakugo doing everyones makeup and then ordering Pizza.

Mina Ashido

Mina fucking loves to dance and everybody knows that, so it’s no surprise that she manages to nail every damn Kpop she does. She really loves the variety of dances and she can match every vibe. A dance in heels? Shes got it. Hip hop? Oh hell yeah. Cute? Sure! Badass? Shes got this. She is really just a bop.

Danganronpa was an EXPERIENCE for her. She absolutely adored the cases that needed to be solved, cried at the characters, and adored the game. She totally cosplayed Tsumugi with Cospox once or twice with Denki just for giggles sake.

Totally was heads over heels for Ouran Highschool Host club. She thought the anime was so damn precious (She adores Hikaru) and was so sad that there hasn’t been a 2nd season, so she bought all of the manga.

Momo Yaoyorozu

She is a Kpop fan! She totally could be an idol since she can sing pretty well, has the face for it, can dance pretty well! Her favorite thing is rapping though. You can’t say that Momo wouldn’t be able to write some bad bitch raps and pull them off with ease. With her, Mina, Jirou, and Ochaco, they make one HELL of a Girl Group. They love to do covers of Blackpink, Red Velvet, CherryBullet, ITZY, and Mamamoo covers. Her biases have to be Jennie, Irene and Moonbyul.

Tamaki Amajiki

Flipped through homestuck when it started, really never got into it but admired the work people put into their cosplays. Knows basic character names and that buckets should be feared.

He actually used to really like My little Pony! He would NEVER call himself a brony, but he really enjoyed the show. He only watched a couple of seasons, but the show itself was pretty relaxing and managed to calm him down when he was feeling anxious. If anybody ever knew he had a my little pony phase though (And still actually will watch it from time to time) he might just die from embarrassment.

Want to play Legend of Zelda? Well Tamaki is your guy to talk to about it. He might start rambling and will completely forget about his anxiety for a moment before realizing how nerdy he sounds. He has a gamecube in his dorm to play Twilight princess and Ocarina of time, He has a Wii for Skyward sword, and god did this kid lock himself in his room when breath of the wild came out. He can speedrun it like none other (Seriously, if he let’s you watch him, you will be fucking surprised by how amazing he is.)

Gotta throw in Teen Titans. Seeing Beast boy use his power in so many badass ways gave him some pretty cool ideas for his own quirk.

Oh and Rupauls Drag race. Nobody would expect him to be a fan of drag race, but he actually does enjoy watching the goofy drama. If you’re dating, you better expect weekly Drag race with him. It’s pretty funny to watch him enjoy the show. Sometimes he gasps, laughs or bites his lip, eyes hooked to the screen.

Shoto Todoroki

Another motherfucker who could EASILY be an Idol if he wanted to be. He actually really enjoys Kpop after Momo introduced it to him. They both often bop to it together when they study or hang out. He is also most likely to be the one recording the dancing videos or editing them too since he really enjoys helping out the girls.

Want to watch him nerd out? Watch the classic Godzilla movies with him. Like HOLY SHIT does this man love the 50s-70s Godzilla movies. Bring him a box set and he will rather hug you really tight or run to grab blankets from his room cause this dude ADORES these movies. (Especially the mothra one. Like he will cling to you, thank you over and over again, and watch them with almost childlike glee.)

This bitch bops with Rupauls Drag race. He really enjoys makeup and has debated on trying drag himself (Not that anybody would know that) but it’s kind of shocking to see that he is the one that started the Weekly Rupauls Drag Race viewing in the UA Dorms.

Yugi Aoyama

His mother used to read Harry Potter to him to help him sleep when he was a child so he naturally knows a lot about it. He knows he is a Slytherin and when Izuku thought about it, it made sense. He is pretty arrogant and wants to impress with his upbringing and french lineage. He also makes it pretty hard to get to know him personally, so Izuku makes a note that he is a Slytherin.

Likes Kpop, but isn’t SUPER into it like Denki or Mina. He likes listening to BTS and Exo and his Biases are Seokjin and Chanyeol.

From the iconic films of drag legend Divine to the campy classics The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar; the essential documentary Paris Is Burning to the groundbreaking TV series Pose; and, of course, the popular herstory-making franchise of RuPaul’s Drag Race. There’s a plethora of content from drag culture that can comfort the weary during these confusing times.

Drag, in its basic sense, is about transformation. It’s a reaction to society’s standards and expectations. However, albeit entertaining at first glance, drag, like any other art form, has always been political. From half a century ago’s queens of Stonewall riots to today’s digital queens, drag has always fought for the downtrodden – all the while wearing seven-inch rhinestone-studded heels.

In celebration of Pride Month, INQUIRER.net talked to six of the country’s fiercest queens about the importance of drag in this period of turmoil.

The art of drag

I always knew I like creating things, whether it’s dressing up our Christmas tree or dressing up for Halloween. When I first transformed in drag, it was like an epiphany. I knew this is something I would do for a long time. It was love at first drag…

As much as the pandemic has taken away the physical interaction that we used to enjoy during our parties, it also opened up more opportunities for the art of drag to be seen and appreciated. In the past, local drag queens and performers can only be seen inside nightclubs and LGBTQ establishments, and a lot of enthusiasts and artists don’t have access to such places, especially minors and those living in the provinces.

Nowadays, I still get to do drag, but more on hosting and co-producing online shows and parties. In doing so, I’m able to gather people and provide platforms for other drag artists to be seen and perform. So far, the reception has been good, especially since online e-numan is slowly becoming the new normal for our patrons in the clubs…

Drag is dynamic, evolving, and very diverse. Here in the Philippines, most people are familiar with drag through impersonators and our trans sisters donned in impeccable gowns. But there are also drag artists with occult or alternative aesthetics, or unpolished makeup skills, or garbage as part of their brand, and those who tell stories onstage that some may not like.

I, for one, am a storyteller. What I do is I incorporate current events or matters of public interest in the songs I perform. By carefully listening to the lyrics of a song, I weave its meaning to my stand on social issues. People may say it’s a political agenda, or that I’m biased or off-putting, but that’s what art does. It’s meant to provoke and challenge ideologies…

Human rights should never be a collateral damage. It is not the law itself that puts the people at risk. It’s the integrity and morality of those enforcing it that predisposes people to danger and makes them fear for their lives. Why would we trust such absolute power to this government?

Mascots of the LGBT community

I started doing drag as an escape from reality. Just like any other art form, it’s a vehicle for the expression of my alter ego. My drag persona is an extension of who I am as a person.

I see it more as a hobby than work. I tell myself that I will stop doing drag once it starts to feel like work. During this pandemic, it’s so heartwarming to see all these queens, young and old, come together during these hard times…

There’s a Chicago drag queen named TRex who said, “As drag queens, we are the mascots of the LGBT community.” That resonated with me because we have a responsibility to amplify the voices of our community. Just because we’re entertainers doesn’t mean we don’t have a say on political issues.

In this country, those who criticize the government get silenced. That’s why as part of a community of outcasts in a society that conforms deeply to tradition, we make it a point to speak out without fear or reservations. Because at the end of the day, we have to be echoes that will remind our countrymen that we are the generation that never forgets…

It’s crazy. “I am the law.” That’s what’s happening in our country right now. It’s no longer about the law of the state. That’s why the Terror Bill is wrong. If the government can abuse the law against journalists who are only doing their job, they can surely do it to anyone.

The problem is, supporters of politicians act like fandoms. It shouldn’t be that way. They hold their positions because the people put them there. But, really, what can we expect from this government? You elect a clown, expect a circus.

Disturbing the comfortable

Drag is a matter of creating your own reality, and in creating your identity, you get to choose the traits that you want to embody. I believe that it’s a melting pot of everything I’ve learned in life, especially from theater and the arts.

As drag queens, we get to break the social norms, and we do it with more power and confidence than we ever thought we had.

Drag is art, and art in general is meant to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. It’s a fun way of looking at what’s happening in our society and of doing checks and balances. Drag queens have always been integral in the LGBT movement, and removing politics from a drag queen is the same as removing that person’s identity…

Ever since the lockdown, more newbies have joined the scene, and they even get to perform with the more veteran queens. People aren’t that busy so we get to interact with each other. Queens from different clubs and cities finally get the chance to collaborate. Everyone gets a level playing field.

At the same time, it’s also challenging because it’s still a live show, so you still have to put in the effort. There’s no assurance of a talent fee, and the attention span of netizens is so short, especially with so many things competing for their attention online. It’s a different stage, too. We’re constricted to the screens of other people’s devices…

I always try to make my drag fun, but it depends on the mood, the sound, and the message. Same with crafting any other performance, there has to be a story. You should get the audience hooked and there has to be an escalation and climax. Whether you make it subtle or literal, the message always has to come across.

For me, the message is often about coming together as so-called deviants and telling people who we are and demanding what is ours, or telling people that we are not a sin and that being ourselves is good enough.

Drag is unbreakable

I did drag for the first time by joining Drag Cartel back in November 2017. It’s a competition for aspiring drag queens. Category for the night was “Disney On Ice,” so I came as Prince Charming in drag. That night, I won, and from there, my love for drag just bloomed.

I do it because it makes me do things that I’d normally just fantasize about. It’s a realization of the things that give me inspiration. The look, the makeup, the attitude. Even though it takes a lot of time, effort, and money, and even though my face breaks out and I get physically hurt while performing, living that fantasy is still the best feeling…

“Keep drag alive” is what we always say, and that goes for togetherness. For drag queens, drag enthusiasts, and drag lovers to maximize the power of social media and uplift queer artists to keep pushing, and to show that this pandemic is not a reason to stop doing what you love…

Drag is a middle finger to all forms of hatred, homophobia, discrimination, social injustice, and stigma…

What’s going on in our country is so overwhelming that I’m often left speechless. Every day I scroll through my feed and I see one issue after another, and it makes me feel sick. I’m disgusted by the people responsible for all this mess.

I just hope people will take note of those in power who haven’t done anything good for this country. I hope that come election season, the people will remember what’s going on now and who’s responsible. I hope they vote for the right people. That’s all we can do as Filipinos.

An image of hope

I started doing drag April of 2019 when I met a few drag queens (now my drag sisters and best friends) who helped me build my drag persona. I have always been very flamboyant and effeminate growing up, and drag opened up the possibilities for me to express those traits even further. Before, I was just doing it for self-discovery, but now, it’s for the community as well.

Drag is about finding the courage to create an image of hope and fulfilment for yourself that could later on affect other people’s lives…

The local scene has been very resilient when it comes to this pandemic. This is a living proof that drag is possible even without clubs and big venues. Just like wild grass, it’s bound to find a way to grow on its own no matter what…

Drag has always been political, and expressing my thoughts on socio-political issues through performances, public posts, online protests, and family and peer conversations is a way for me to maximize my drag as a political medium.

With everything that we’re facing right now, I think a lot of people are scared for their own safety more than ever. Aside from the unresolved coronavirus crisis, it’s really frightening to witness the recent displays of abuse of power and the questionable decisions of this government.

As a member of a community that has long been experiencing inequality, discrimination, and unlawful acts, I am deeply saddened with how all of this misconduct diminishes my hopes for a country free from oppression.

On the right side of history

Drag is my art, my craft, and my passion. Without it, I’m incomplete. It’s an alternative persona but it’s also part of my identity. It is the Juliet to my Romeo.

My interest in drag started after I saw the film To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. The glitz and glamour was so fascinating, and I immediately wanted to be part of that world.

People may see us as glamorous toads with a million rhinestones in 7-inch heels but, girl, it’s not as easy as it looks. Drag is not just crossdressing. It’s a transformation.

Drag queens are probably the most resilient and most creative people I know. Drag is thriving even on lockdown. There are a lot of online shows for all to see. We figured out a new way of showcasing our chops. We will survive this…

Drag is political. It was, it is, and it always will be. Periodt. I am a full-grown adult man dressed up to the nines, looking like Joan Crawford after losing the Oscars. It’s a big middle-finger to toxic masculinity and misogyny.

I like to think I have a considerable amount of following, which means I have a platform. I always have a choice, just like everybody else. One can choose to stay quiet, which effectively means choosing the side of the oppressors. Or I, a drag queen, can choose to be part of a positive change and help inspire a new generation of people who are not afraid to express themselves, political or otherwise.

I want to end on the right side of history. As a drag queen, I believe I can do that.

After several years of, let’s say, improved taste, the Emmy Awards backslid a bit last year. Sure, it was nice to see Fleabag get the recognition it deserved. But that recognition came along with a Game of Thrones final season onslaught that nobody asked for.

With Thrones firmly in the rearview, the 2020 Emmy Awards have a chance to welcome in some new blood. And with an eclectic list of first-time nominees like The Mandalorian, The Morning Show, and Watchmen they may be able to do just that! Who Will Win: The Emmy Awards have a preoccupation with HBO dramas and who could blame them? For the better part of 30 years, HBO has been the go-to spot for brilliant television drama. Succession season 2 is a superb year of television.

Who Should Win: Though Succession is a wonderful TV series and a fine choice for Outstanding Drama, the real winner here should be Better Call Saul. Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad prequel just gets better with age and arguably reached its apex with its fifth season.

And the Emmys didn’t hand out all those nominations just to leave the show hanging at the podium. Schitt’s Creek will win big throughout the night, including taking home Outstanding Comedy Series

Who Should Win: We have no complaints with Schitt’s Creek winning Outstanding Comedy Series to honor its contributions to television and comedy for the past six years. But for the purposes of choosing 2020’s best comedy, What We Do in the Shadows has to be it. Shadows was at its absolute best in season 2, a year that contained zombies, witches, and one Jackie Daytona, normal human bartender.

Who Will Win: Watchmen will win. Obviously.

The category has gotten weaker in recent years with many talk shows understandably working on expanding their respective brands into the digital space. Last Week Tonight does the most research, has the best writing staff, and the most appealing host. It’s the best show of its kind on television and will likely continue to be so for quite awhile.

As would the relentless charming Bob’s Burgers, which just keeps getting better. But BoJack Horseman deserves this trophy for a pitch-perfect final season that brilliantly blends the series comedic and dramatic impulses.

The Emmys have always been fond of The Crown. And after Colman took home an Oscar for The Favourite, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences might be eager to remind folks what medium Colman is best known for.

Who Should Win: Anyone would be a fine choice here, really. We will go with Zendaya for the degree of humanity she brought to a truly difficult role.

Who Should Win: Being the lead on a prestige HBO drama often means getting to play with a pretty showy role. Jeremy Strong’s beaten down Kendall Roy is anything but showy and that just makes the actor’s performance all the more impressive. The consequences of a lifetime of outrageous wealth and outrageous paternal neglect play out mostly between Strong’s ears in a superb, subtle performance.

Who Should Win: O’Hara absolutely should win for her consistently larger-than-life performance. It’s a shame we won’t be able to honor Issa Rae with a statue this year though.

And who knows if Schitt’s Creek’s big run will make it all the way down to the supporting category. Gilpin and Orji are very intriguing but in the absence of a sure thing, this feels like a year in which the Emmys could return to McKinnon.

Who Should Win: It’s hard to think of someone in the TV landscape more deserving of an Emmy than D’Arcy Carden for her work on The Good Place. The actress has taken a Siri-like digital assistant of the afterlife and transformed it (not a girl) into a full-fledged character.

Who Will Win: This is a particularly stacked category that is hard to pick. And when that happens at the Emmys, a good rule of thumb is to go with recency bias – who has won the most awards recently? Multiple Oscar award-winner Mahershala Ali fits the bill here but Shalhoub and Arkin are also appealing in that regard. Levy could ride the Schitt’s Creek wave as well.

Who Should Win: It’s quite frankly asinine that Andre Braugher has not won an Emmy yet for his nuanced, yet still utterly hilarious performance as Captain Raymond Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Portrayals of police officers are particularly fraught this year but Braugher deserves some recognition all the same.

Who Should Win: Both Better Call Saul options are worthy of an Emmy. But the writing of season 5’s penultimate episode “Bad Choice Road” is brilliant and absolutely teeming with tension.

Who Should Win: “Happy Ending” is a superb choice but any half hour of television that features Matt Berry living a life as a bartender in Pennsylvania just cannot be allowed to lose. Justice for Jackie Daytona!

Who Should Win: “This Extraordinary Being” deserves to win. Lindelof and Jefferson’s script was the starting point for a stunning episode of television that presented an idea so radical (and yet so logical) it inspired Lindelof and HBO to reimagine an already near-perfect graphic novel.

Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series

Who Will Win: The Emmys really love Ozark. And they should! It’s a good show. Having said that, the dominance of Succession will likely close off a lot of opportunities for the series this year. But it should be able to at least squeak this one out.

Who Should Win: Ironically, this is the one award that Succession really should win this year above all else. Mark Mylod’s direction of “This is Not for Tears” is a minor miracle, turning a sun-drenched day on a luxury yacht into a tense, paranoid thriller.

Who Will Win: It’s a little weird to see the Modern Family series finale in a category and not be favored to win. For years, the Emmys heaped statues upon this very good but not all-time classic comedy. In the end, the Academy will instead opt to honor the tasteful direction of another series finale in Schitt’s Creek.

Who Should Win: The Great has a real argument here with its drama-level production design assisting director Matt Shakman. But at the end of the day, “Happy Ending” accomplishes exactly what it needs to accomplish and is a fine choice.

Todrick Hall

Todrick Hall (born April 4, 1985) is an American singer, songwriter, actor, director, choreographer and YouTuber. He first gained national attention on the 9th season of the reality singing competition American Idol, where he made it to the semi-finals. Following this, he amassed a following on YouTube with multiple viral videos including original songs, parodies, and skits. A documentary series about his video-making process titled Todrick aired on MTV in 2015.

Starting with season 8, Hall became a resident choreographer on RuPaul's Drag Race, and occasional judge. From 2016 to 2017, Hall starred as Lola in Kinky Boots on Broadway. Later in 2017, he began appearances as Billy Flynn in Chicago on Broadway and the West End.

As a singer-songwriter he has released three studio albums, including the visual albums Straight Outta Oz (2016) and Forbidden (2018).

Early life

Todrick Hall was born in Plainview, Texas, on April 4, 1985. His family consists of his mother, father, one brother, and a stepfather. He knew he was different, he liked playing with dolls, and worried if they would still accept him if he turned out to be one of those gay people they made fun of on television. Hall began studying ballet at nine-years-old, and later worked with Fantasia in The Color Purple. He came out as gay to his family when he was fifteen; it took them a few years to accept. He also appeared in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and performed with Royal Caribbean, Holland America Line, and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Career

2009–2010: American Idol

On August 24, 2009, Hall auditioned to the ninth season of American Idol in Dallas, Texas. He sang a self-composed song mentioning the judges – Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, and guest judge Joe Jonas – to plead his case for inclusion in the program. All four judges approved of his participation; he went into Hollywood week and eventually the semi-finals. In the Top 24, he sang Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" and in the Top 20, he performed Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do with It". He was eliminated in the Top 16 on 11 March 2010 after his rendition of Queen's "Somebody to Love;" he was one of four contestants eliminated in that round, and thus ranked between 13th and 16th overall.

2011–2013: Career growth and YouTube fame

Hall joined YouTube on May 27, 2006, and posted his first video to the site, a performance of "It's Hard to Say Goodbye", in 2008. In following years, his audience has grown considerably: as of June, 2019, Hall currently has 3.1 million subscribers on YouTube, and as of March 2018, his videos have been viewed 531.9 million times. Hall's videos include several of his own original songs and music videos, choreographed flash mobs for Ariana Grande and Beyoncé performed in an actual Target store, (the latter of which Beyoncé personally recognized Hall for), musical collaborations with Pentatonix, and personal updates.

In May 2011, he released a video audition for the third season of Glee titled "I Wanna Be on Glee", for possible inclusion in the show. Though the video was popular, Hall was not cast in the program.In November 2013, Virgin America produced a pop-music safety video directed by Jon M. Chu with music by Jean-Yves Decornet. Hall wrote the song and lyrics and starred in the video.

In December 2013, Hall released a Christmas album entitled Dear Santa, with covers of "This Christmas" and "Sleigh Bells", produced by wiidope as well as original songs "So Cold" and "SplitsOnXmasTrees".

2014–2015: Pop Star High and Todrick docuseries

From April 1 to May 13, 2014, Hall released an eight episode web series on his YouTube channel called Pop Star High. The series takes place in a world where all of the most famous Pop Stars of our day all went to high school together. The series portrays and parodies pop stars like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Kanye West, Eminem, Jay-Z, and Tyga, and draws on the tropes of high school comedy movies. The soundtrack for the series was released on April 1, 2014.

On October 22, 2014, MTV announced Todrick, a docuseries following Hall, would premiere in 2015. On 20 December 2014, Hall produced and appeared in a commercial for the series and featured other celebrities' holiday wishes. Eight episodes of the docuseries were ordered and aired throughout 2015. The soundtrack for the show was released on October 13, 2015.

In October 2015, he was picked as Elvis Duran's Artist of the Month and was featured on NBC's Today show hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and broadcast nationally where he performed live his single "Wind It Up".

2016–2017: Straight Outta Oz, Broadway, and RuPaul's Drag Race

Hall appeared as a guest judge on the eighth season of RuPaul's Drag Race; the episode, which featured a Wizard of Oz-inspired challenge, first aired on April 11, 2016. Hall reappeared as a full-time judge for RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 2 later in 2016 and again for the ninth season aired throughout 2017.

Along with Drag Race, Hall frequently appeared on Logo TV's game show Gay for Play Game Show Starring RuPaul alongside other celebrities. A second Season of Gay for Play is expected.

On June 23, 2016, Todrick self-released his second album, Straight Outta Oz. Straight Outta Oz is a visual concept album that uses the imagery of The Wizard of Oz to explore Todrick's own life and rise to fame. The project's first video was posted to YouTube on June 23, 2016 as well. Shortly thereafter, Hall announced the Straight Outta Oz Tour to promote the album. The tour originally ran between July 7, and August 12, 2016 in the United States and Canada.

The Straight Outta Oz Tour was interrupted by Hall's casting in the Broadway musical Kinky Boots. Hall starred as Lola, a drag queen cabaret performer. Hall's performance was well received by critics. He performed as Lola from November 1, 2016, to March 1, 2017.

The Straight Outta Oz Tour was revived in 2017 and ran between March 30, and June 5, in various North American, European, and Australian locations. It was accompanied by an expanded deluxe edition that included songs that were featured on the tour but not on the original version of the album. Additionally, the album included an extended version and new video for "Wrong Bitch" featuring Bob the Drag Queen, and a rerecorded version of Todrick's previous single "Low" featuring RuPaul.

In August 2017, he had a cameo as a back-up dancer in the music video for Taylor Swift's song, "Look What You Made Me Do".

From November 30, 2017, to January 14, 2018, played Billy Flynn in a limited engagement role in Chicago. During his tenure, the show had its best-grossing week in its 21-year Broadway history.

In December he released the documentary film Behind the Curtain about the production behind Straight Outta Oz. It was screened in select theatres and later released on home video. Later that month he had a guest appearance in the Bob's Burgers Season 8 episode "The Bleakening" as drag queen Miss Triple-Xmas (or Cleavage to Beaver) performing the song "Twinkly Lights". He also released a medley of covers of songs from the Pitch Perfect film series that was featured on the Pitch Perfect 3 Special Edition soundtrack.

2018–present: Forbidden, Haus Party & The Greatest Dancer

In March 2018 he announced his new visual album follow-up to Straight Outta Oz called Forbidden. It was released on March 27, 2018. To promote the album, Hall embarked on Forbidden: The Tour across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

On May 15, 2019, Hall revealed that he will be releasing a trilogy of extended plays to be released across the next six months. The first EP, Haus Party, Pt. 1, was released on May 23, 2019. The first single "Glitter" was released with the album pre-order on May 16, 2019. It also featured Hall's first big hit "Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels." The EPs will be supported by the Haus Party World Tour. While it was originally announced that Part Two would be released in July followed by Party Three in September 2019, the release of Haus Party, Pt. 2 was delayed to September 19, 2019.. It was supported by the singles "Wig", "Fag", and "Dripeesha" (featuring Tiffany Haddish). Part Three was originally announced to be released on October 30, 2019, then November 27. It was put up for pre-order on January 10, 2020 with two singles available, "Blue" and "Pink Dreams", and an announced release date of February 14, 2020. However, this was later pushed back to May 1, 2020.

On June 17, 2019, Hall appeared in the music video for singer-songwriter Taylor Swift's song "You Need to Calm Down"; he co-executive produced the video with Swift. On June 19, 2019, Hall announced that he will be returning to Broadway to play Ogie Anhorn in the musical Waitress opposite friend Colleen Ballinger, who will be making her Broadway debut as Dawn Williams from August 20 until September 15.

In August 2019 he joined the panel of Dance Captains for the second series of The Greatest Dancer alongside the other Dance Captains Cheryl, Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison. The series aired on BBC One in January 2020.

Artistry

Hall is a baritenor with a soulful, expressive voice, including falsetto; in addition to a singer, Hall is also a rapper. The genre of his works include R&B, pop, hip hop, neo-soul, funk, and musical theatre. Many of his lyrics include elements of social commentary, such as gun violence in and against black communities in "Water Guns" (featuring Jordin Sparks), acceptance of interracial relationships in "Color" (featuring Jay Armstrong Johnson) and queer culture; Hall writes and produces much of his own music with Jeeve Ducornet and wiidope. Hall also posts musical tributes to his favorite musical artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift. These tributes feature elaborately-produced mashups of the artists' songs sung by Hall.

Hall's music videos often feature extravagant production value not typically associated with artists outside major labels. Hall's videos often include bespoke costumes and urban fashion, elaborate sets, and extensive choreography, much of which is designed or created by Hall himself. He frequently directs his own videos as well. As part of his style, many of Hall's music videos include drag as a central component, either featuring Hall in drag himself or famous drag queens including RuPaul, Bob the Drag Queen, Willam Belli, and Alaska Thunderfuck, among others.

Tycoons Off Duty (2017)

Run time: 6-10 minutes

Genre: Reality Show

Status: Ongoing

• 'Tycoons Off Duty' is a video clip series that is uploaded to Tycoons' official YouTube channel, showing their daily lives behind the scenes through raw, minimally edited footage either recorded in third person view or 'vlog style' as Tycoons wanted the viewers to feel like they are a further part of their life. The first vlog was released on the 25th of January, well over 3 weeks after promotions for 'Tycoons The Album' and 'MAFIA' are done.

• These clips show their slow/lazy everyday routines that mostly include watching television on the sofa, playing games and eating snacks together, or occasionally they'd go out to buy groceries, run errands here and there and maybe even greet fans on the side. Most of the time the siblings are even shown bickering, having silly fights and taking care of each other like how normal siblings do, and many people find these antics to be endearing, funny and —for the most part— relatable.

Cooking with Carmen (2017)

Run time: 15-18 minutes

Genre: Cooking Show

Status: Ongoing

• 'Cooking with Carmen' is a video series that stars Carmen cooking dishes and baking desserts of all sorts, whilst also showing off her culinary skills and using them to boost Tycoons' popularity. The series was created upon the fall season when Tyke has to go away to do his annual military service after doing his initial one.

• Carmen isn't as flashy with her 'acrobatics' around the kitchen as other chefs are, but she makes up for it in food presentation, flavor and aesthetic. The company's team also decided to occasionally allow a bit of ASMR to the videos before cueing back in with some soft accompanying music.

• Capos enjoy this series as it shows a different side of Carmen they'd never thought they'd see, being such a bold, sexy, stoic character on stage, and they found it fascinating and endearing. They seem to be highly interested in how Carmen could've become a chef instead of an idol by how talented she is (or, how talented she's made to seem) and made fanfictional 'alternate universes' or 'AU's where Tycoons are running a family-owned cafe with Carmen was the head chef and Tyke was the Barista. Tycoons themselves enjoy reading these fanfiction stories and get shocked or rather amused by how accurate or inaccurate the way their Capos interpret their personalities without even meeting them.

A Talk with Tyke (2017)

Run time: 15-18 minutes

Genre: Talk Show

Status: On Hold

• 'A Talk with Tyke' is a show that stars Tyke as the main host. It is predominantly a talking show that discusses upon several random topics ranging from school bullying to internet dating to socks, accompanied by funny animations and picture scenery inserts that filled the empty space of green screen behind Tyke, that would sometimes cut into view as he made mistakes while talking or if he's laughing too hard and needed a break or if he said something too funny that even the staff had to laugh. The show is often seen as a 'sibling series' to 'Cooking with Carmen' where his sister is mainly starred, and Capos seem to really like the coincidences.

• The show covers on a certain topic, as mentioned before, and at first Tyke starts talking a little more seriously about it but until the half end of the video is when he starts making jokes as funny edited scenes cut in from everywhere else. There have been recent collaborations with Tyke's own sister and other Tycoons Carmen, Stray Kids' Changbin and Woojin, TWICE's Momo and Chaeyoung, and Park Jimin of former group AOA.

• Capos that were also fans of a show called RuPaul's Drag Race often compare this show to one called 'UNHhhh' that features two of it's former contestants for it's comedic use of flashy edited pictures and sound effects, floating words and funny topics. They've dubbed it the 'Korean UNHhhh minus the drag', though again, this is debatable.

Tycoons' Secret Wish (2018)

Run time: 30-45 minutes

Genre: Reality Show

Status: Ongoing

• 'Tycoons' Secret Wish' is a show that stars both members of Tycoons and is about the idols meeting certain fans who have been struggling with familial, social, monetary or internal battles and had friends and/or family members secretly sent ask letters to JYP Entertainment's main building with the special secret wish code, also known as, 'I call upon the Godfather' as well as a proper reason as to why they wanted their friend/family member to join the show and have their idols see them in order to be accepted by the show. The show is meant to promote the idea that idols can help those struggling hard by listening to their concerns and offering moral support from said idols' experience. Being that Tycoons have witnessed and experienced unfair deaths, inequality and a deteriorating hope during their childhood, they are considered well versed in this moral giving concept.

• The series would always start with Tycoons leaving the JYP building and telling the viewers about who their visitee is, what their background is like, whom sent in the ask letter, and why they would need to send in the letter. Then the duo will get in their transport car with one of their managers and go to the location of the visitee and meet them by surprise which comes into the idea of a 'secret wish.'

• Capos enjoy the series and is dubbed by Vogue as one of the best foreign television series to ever grace the TV screens all over the world, however, this is of course debatable. Unfortunately this show was published a couple months before Tyke has to leave for his annual military service after serving his initial one, and had to stay on hold for a couple of weeks so Tyke can come back and rest, and also regrow his hair back.

Tycoons Off Duty

• In a scene from episode 15 of season 1 [by far the most controversial and popular episode to this date] the episode starts off with Carmen greeting the camera with a croaky morning voice ["Good morning Capos, and everyone who's watching this, Tyke's asleep, and I'm Carmen, and together we are Tycoons"] before momentarily setting it down on the kitchen counter, taking what looked to be medicine pills from the kitchen cabinet above her before bringing them, paired with a glass of water, back into the bedroom where Tyke was still sleeping peacefully on their queen-sized bed that they were sharing for the time being. She sets the medicine on the bedside table and proceeds to wake him up, with much convincing and bribing with candies, Tyke soon wakes up and takes the pills that Carmen just took out.

• People of course speculated what those pills could be and on one of their Vlives held not long after this episode aired, Carmen explains to some questioning fans that Tyke does suffer from an illness that needed medication and specified on it being depression. She clarified that she was giving him prescribed medicine given and approved by his psychiatrist and their agency. She even mentions earlier in the Vlive that she already asked permission to their manager about 'breaking the news' to the Capos. [By that she meant telling them about Tyke's depression]

• This ruffled some Korean Capos the wrong way and they began spreading rumors and derogatory comments about Tyke on his and his sister's social media, saying that they should just stop being idols if they had such severe mental problems or if they're just trying to use the illness as a marketing ploy to catch the attention of the public. However the international Capos praised Carmen for being transparent about Tyke's mental illness and Tyke himself for being able to carry out the duties of an idol whilst harboring a mental illness which they presume from other idols' lives and troubles to be extremely demanding physically and mentally.

• By breaking the flawless, perfect image that idols are supposed to uphold, Tycoons both knew that they were going to have to dip into hot waters and apologize whilst also defending themselves by saying that they hope that the media will understand and never forget that music is how Tycoons themselves cope with their internal troubles, and hoped that this terrible and toxic the privilege that fans feel over their idols' personal lives and information will never happen to them or anyone else.

Tycoons' Secret Wish

• In a scene from episode 10 of season 1, Tyke is seen asking his present manager at the time Hyejeong a request to the bathroom while a female fan came into the shot and head locked him, before dragging him towards a room, whilst Hyejeong fought and tried to free the poor idol in the girl's grasp. Carmen darted out of the visitee's room and threw a strong punch at the fan before they were separated by Tycoons' security sent to prevent mobs [or flying sasaengs] and keep the idols safe. The fan seemed to be crazed with awestruckness and love for Tyke as she was giggling and sending kisses towards his direction as he laid on the floor, still shocked and trying to process everything that had just happened.

• Apparently, the fan that had done this to Tyke was a sasaeng and Capos managed to find pictures of the girl at fan signs, concerts, airport arrivals and many more locations, and the visitee felt embarrassed to say that said fan was one of her kpop crazed cousins that originally introduced the visitee to kpop and Tycoons. The girl didn't end up apologizing in her apology nots even though she did say that she regret what she did but hoped to let Tyke notice her next time. [Edit: He didn't SKSKSK]

“But the RuPaul’s Drag Race star, who grew up in Australia in the ’80s, decided to go all in during a confrontation with her parents — telling them about her sexuality and decision to be a drag queen ‘all in one sitting’.

Courtney, who hosted last night’s Rainbow Honours with Blue’s Duncan James, told Guilty Pleasures: ‘Growing up in Brisbane in the ’80s and ’90s wasn’t the easiest place for a young queer kid.

‘I never saw anyone like me reflected back in the media, which can be quite isolating.

‘Then, there was so much fear about coming out. It’s amazing to think about how much worry and how many tears went into coming out to my family and myself.

‘I did the liking boys and doing drag all in one sitting. One night, over dinner, my mum and dad came down to Sydney to visit me. I was very fortunate. They took it very well and have always been loving and supporting.’

Last night’s ceremony, held at Madame Tussauds, in London, shone a light on the LGBT community and saw TV host Sue Perkins and London mayor Sadiq Khan win awards. Nods also went to writer Caitlin Moran and former rugby player Gareth Thomas.

Courtney — real name Shane Jenek — added: ‘The Rainbow Honours are great because they’re about giving a voice and giving some attention to the unsung heroes.

‘I think good hosts try and keep the night moving… try and have some fun.

‘I’m sure I’ll flirt outrageously with Duncan. Keep it light, keep it happy, keep it gay.’

And with the boom of RuPaul’s Drag Race on BBC3, Courtney couldn’t be happier to see people falling for drag again.

The 37-year-old laughed: ‘I would say there are more drag queens on the planet right now than at any time in history.’”

My Diamond Crowned Queen Pt. 1 (Ravja) - Chardonnay

A/N: Part 1 of 2. Based on Raja’s “Diamond Crowned Queen” music video (if you haven’t seen it yet, go watch it. You won’t be disappointed). Part 1 is the tease, Part 2 is the smutty follow-up. Enjoy!

It was a warm day in Riverside, California despite it being the end of January. David sat in the bathroom of his home applying face powder as he slowly transformed himself into Raven. It was a Monday, only the middle of the day, but David liked to start his process early so he had plenty of time and didn’t feel rushed to finish his intricate paint. This week was going to be a good time at Micky’s, the girls who were away filming the third season of Drag Race had just come home, and tonight was the LA girls’ first night back at Micky’s. Delta and Raja were the 2 queens selected this year to compete on the reality tv show to represent West Hollywood, and David was particularly excited to get to hang out and party with Sutan again after so long apart.

Before Drag Race, Sutan had been away on a “world tour” with Adam Lambert. He had been gone for almost that entire year travelling the world, and in that year David’s whole world had been flipped upside down.

He never thought that competing on a low-budget reality tv program run by one of the most famous drag queens on the planet would actually change his life. But fast-forward a year and Raven had quickly become one of the most famous and celebrated queens in West Hollywood. She landed herself a permanent hosting gig at one of LA’s biggest gay nightclubs and her “fans” would flock to see her perform.

He had briefly seen his friend for a couple of days before Sutan left for filming, and the show was all they could talk about. Their time together wasn’t long, but for those couple of days the two of them felt connected in a way that they hadn’t since their last interaction over a year before. Connected though shared experience. But there was something else, something new looming over their conversation as well. Nearly 2 years ago now, before Rupaul’s Drag Race or world-wide tours, Sutan connected with David in a completely different way. After a long day of work and an even longer night, the 2 men drunkenly hooked up in Sutan’s West Hollywood apartment. It was totally impulsive but also some of the best sex David had ever had, and then it unexpectedly happened once more before Sutan left for his tour. Now there was something new in their interactions, a flirtiness in the way Sutan looked and smiled at him, but David didn’t let anything go too far as he knew Sutan would soon leave again to film the show. He wanted to try to keep things casual between them, but Sutan’s last night before leaving for Drag Race involved a little too much wine and an unanticipated heated makeout session.

As David finished blocking his brows and began the long process of contouring, his phone rang. It was if someone had been reading his thoughts when he saw Raja’s name pop up on his caller ID. David was surprised Sutan was even awake this early, knowing they didn’t have to be at work until 7pm that night. David put his phone on speaker as he continued to paint.

“Hello? Is this who I think it is? The elusive unicorn himself who only comes to visit me once a year?”

“Oh my god you are so dramatic” David could hear Sutan rolling his eyes through the phone, but just hearing the sound of his voice at all made David smile.

“Bitch I feel like I haven’t seen you in like a year!”

Sutan sighed “I know I’m sorry I’ve been busy and-”

“I know, I know its fine, I just miss your face. Now what was so urgent that you couldn’t wait a few more hours to tell me in-person? You better not be cancelling tonight I swear…”

“No, no I’m not.” Sutan assured him, “I actually called because a couple of days after I got home I met with a music producer.”

“A music producer? Why? You don’t make music.”

“Well guess what bitch? I did! I recorded a song”

“…really?” David was skeptical.

“Yes! And I’m calling to tell you you’re going to be in my music video.” David took a second to process everything Sutan had just told him, he never in a million years thought Sutan would be the type to want to make music.

As if Sutan was listening to his thoughts, he interrupted “I didn’t actually sing that much, I mostly just made the song so I could make my own videos for them. Part of my artistic vision. So are you in?”

“Sounds like I don’t have much of a choice…” David teased.

“You don’t”

“Okay then I guess I’m in.” David laughed and tried to play it cool, but he was actually very flattered that Sutan had thought to ask him and curious about what this video would entail.

“Cool, I just sent you an email with the song file attached. They just finished the final mix yesterday so I’m trying to organize the video shoot as quickly as possible. Give the song a listen when you can and text me what you think. I gotta make another call.”

As soon as David hung up the phone, his curiosity got the better of him and he immediately opened up his email and found the file from Sutan entitled “Diamond Crowned Queen”. David rolled his eyes, “real subtle…” he thought to himself. He was still in the process of finishing his face, but he figured he could multitask and listen to the song while he painted. He was wrong.

The beginning of the song was certainly something! It was obvious that Sutan was not a master lyricist or any kind of singer, but the beat was actually not that bad so David continued to follow along, amused by the exceedingly sexual lyrics. So Sutan. Then the breakdown of the song came and his bathroom was filled with the all-too familiar sounds of Sutan moaning and whispering. He knew very well that Sutan was an extremely…passionate person, so although this kind of thing didn’t exactly surprise David, it was still very bold. And provocative. David had to stop in the middle of painting as possible scenarios flew through his head, did he just agree to be in some kind of soft porn film? Straight away David texted Sutan to ask what exactly this video shoot would consist of and what he’d gotten himself into.

“You’ll see ;)” was the only message he got back.

Exactly 2 weeks later Raja stood on the rooftop of one of his apartment buildings setting up cameras and a blank white drop sheet on the wall. This video was being filmed on the lowest possible budget, but Raja knew he wouldn’t need much more than himself and the three other people he’d casted to make it work. He wanted the concept to be very simple and the focus would be on his 3 favorite things: clothing, sex, and himself.

Raven was the last to film of the three friends he featured in the video. The other two shoots were done the day before and went incredibly smoothly as everyone easily fell into their roles without hesitation. There was lots of messy kissing and smudged makeup involved which was always a good time. He was having way too much fun making out with all his hot friends, and he intentionally saved Raven for last. David was the first person Raja thought of when he envisioned this video. He needed someone who was good-looking, strongly resembled himself, and who he knew he had tangible sexual chemistry with, and David checked all of those boxes. This final shoot was going to be different from the others, he wanted to use that connection and tension he felt with Raven ever since their drunken hookup all those years ago. It was strange, Raja couldn’t get the thought of them together out of his head, and he was the master of random, meaningless sex, usually a fuck em and forget em type. But for some reason it was near impossible to forget that night with David, and he craved more. So of course his very first thought was to cast Raven in this very specific role.

David arrived on set exactly as Sutan had instructed him to, with his foundation done and brows blocked but nothing else. He always felt ridiculous without brows, like some kind of alien, but knowing Sutan that was probably the look he was going for. David was a bit nervous when he arrived, but seeing that they were filming outside relaxed him a bit. They couldn’t get too nasty if they were filming on a rooftop, right?

Raja was sitting off to the side viewing something with the 2 camera guys when he saw David walk in and waved him over. “Hey! I’m just watching some playback of the footage with Mario I shot yesterday. I’ll come over in a second and we’ll finish your makeup.” David was curious and glanced over Raja’s shoulder to see what the scenes looked like, and to no surprise it was a lot of aggressive, messy kissing. “So this is what I agreed to”, David thought “I’m getting paid to have makeup smudged all over my face…” He was a bit unsure how he felt about doing all this for a music video. Of course he’d made out with Sutan a few times already but never in drag and certainly never in front of a camera. He gave a nervous smile as Raja turned around from watching the playback.

“C’mon, let’s go get your makeup finished.” He took David’s hand and led him over to the makeshift makeup station set up on the opposite side of the rooftop. “The idea is I want us to look as similar as possible, so we’re just going to keep a light contour to eliminate our facial features and no brows”

“You’re not letting me wear eye brows?” David whined.

“Nope, I want us to look like twin androgynous aliens. And I have these cool foam wigs too” Raja always had the craziest and most creative imagination, but he also had good taste so David trusted his vision. He sat in the makeup chair as Sutan started getting all his brushes out. “You brought your blue contacts right? I want to really focus on your eyes so I’m not putting on as much liner as you usually do”

“Okay fine.” David said, I’m trusting you with my face which is a pretty big deal for me y’know…”

“Bitch relax, I know what I’m doing. You’ll look good.”

David sat in the chair and let Raja work on his face and transform him into his own version of Raven. It had been a long time since anyone had done David’s makeup for him, and he forgot how much he loved the feeling, especially with Raja doing it. Their faces were so close together, and seeing Raja so concentrated studying him like a painting combined with the soft touches of the brushes against his skin created a kind of quiet intimacy. They chatted casually about the shoot. According to Raja they weren’t going to be moving around too much, staying pretty much in the middle of the white drop sheet, and Raven’s job was very simple: just stand there and look pretty for the camera. The thought relaxed her, looking pretty was something she could do.

“Now I know you usually do a more matte color on your lips, but I want both our lips to look more full and highlighted so I’m using a gloss. I think a lighter one than I have on will suit you better. But I’m warning you now…” Raja continued with a playful smile “we’re both going to be wearing each other’s shade by the end of the shoot.”

Raven laughed softly but inside she felt her stomach flip. Raja had been away for so long, and ever since that night years ago Raven couldn’t help that every thought of him was invaded by that intense look in his eyes before he kissed her, or the way his bare skin felt electric against her own. She missed him so much, and each interaction they’d had since had been oozing with underlying sexual tension. The anticipation for this video shoot was making her both anxious and excited. Raja finished up applying her gloss, even the feeling of the wand was sensitive against her lips, and she couldn’t help but notice the way Raja took his time. He was being especially gentle and slow, seemingly transfixed on the fullness of her pout. She didn’t know it, but the anticipation was mutual, and Raja couldn’t wait to have Raven the way he wanted once again.

Raja was someone who very much liked to be in control of things. He was an artist and a creator, and he liked when things turned out exactly as he envisioned them. This was true for his art and in his personal life. Most people wrote him off as a submissive or passive person because of his more feminine qualities, but in reality Raja was the polar opposite. He was disciplined and authoritative, and very much a “my way or the highway” type of person. He was hotheaded, competitive and bossy, and he absolutely loved getting his way. Being the creative director for a music video was like a dream to Raja, as he got to make every decision down to the last detail. He also enjoyed telling other people what to do and how to stand and how to act, even the mere thought of it was a complete turn-on for him. His vision of Raven’s role in the video was very much inspired by their first time together, his thoughts were constantly filled with memories of how well David complied with all of his directions. He wanted Raven to be a subset of himself and his own desire for sex and control, hence why he dressed them the same. He needed Raven to follow and trust him completely, and Raja was eager to have him in that vulnerable position again.

After Raven’s makeup was finished, Raja went to grab the outfits they were both going to wear as Raven looked in the mirror at Raja’s work. She was actually amazed at how good she looked and how similar she looked to Raja yet still like herself. Not that she ever doubted Raja’s makeup abilities, but she knew her face wasn’t the easiest to work with. When Raja returned Raven wasn’t sure what she was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t the leather harnesses that he held in his hand. She was glad she made the decision not to eat anything today in case she had to take clothes off on camera, but it seemed like they wouldn’t even be putting clothes on to start with. She did wish she had a drink though, because every new revelation was giving her a better idea of the direction this video was going in.

“You want me to wear that?”

“Yeah, why? Are you not into leather?” Raja joked.

“I-no it’s not that, I guess just…not what I was expecting? But its fine! I’m fine.” Raven stumbled over her words a bit but tried her best to play it off.

“Okay good, take off your shirt” Raja’s instructions were short and direct, reminding Raven a bit of his tone during their first sexual encounter. And just like she did that night, Raven immediately obeyed and discarded her t shirt as Raja did the same. The cool breeze felt good against her newly bare skin. Raja tried both of the harnesses on them, deciding which one looked better on himself and which looked better on Raven. As Raven tried to put each of them on she struggled, unsure of how to properly fasten clips and which strap went where. Raja looked at her and laughed “Oh my god, what are you doing? Come here” as he helped her dress. She felt a bit embarrassed, clearly not having much prior experience with these things, but she gladly accepted Raja’s assistance. Even just the simple touch of Raja’s fingers on her bare torso made Raven’s pulse quicken, but she suddenly remembered that they weren’t alone with the small camera crew present and tried to push any unholy thoughts out of her head. She had to remain professional.

Once they made a final decision about their attire, Raja gave Raven a quick run-down about what he wanted them to do as they made their way over to the white backdrop.

“The song is going to play through those speakers beside us so that I can mouth the words while it plays.” he gestured to the left, “You don’t really have to do much, don’t lip sync or anything. I just want you to kind of stand there and look at the camera and really just…do whatever I tell you to do.”

“Whatever you tell me to do? I’m not sure if I like the sound of that.”

Raja smiled and stepped a little closer, murmuring low enough that only Raven could hear “Actually if my memory serves me correctly, you very much enjoy being told what to do.”

Raven blushed as memories of submission and obedience came flooding back, and Raja was right she had enjoyed it, more than she ever thought she would. “Yeah but that was different, we were alone!”

“Then just pretend we’re alone now too, there’s only like 2 camera guys here anyways.” Raven still looked a bit hesitant. “Look, I have a few pre-planned ideas but I’m mostly just gonna do whatever I’m feeling with the lyrics, so you just react or do whatever feels natural too. I’ll direct you if I want something specific.”

Raja reached out and gently took Raven’s hand, trying to calm her nerves. “Don’t you trust me?” Raven looked into his dark eyes and nodded her head and smiled. She had a really hard time saying no to Raja. “Good, now go stand in the middle of the white backdrop so I can tell you how far you need to stand from the camera.” Raven did as she was told as Raja stood behind the camera and continued to direct her, “A little bit closer. Closer…perfect stop there.”

“So are we just being shot from the waist up or do we have to take our pants off too?” Raven half-jokingly asked.

Raja looked up from the screen. “Well I wasn’t going to but you are more than welcome to take them off. I know I wouldn’t object.”

Raven laughed and looked away as Raja gave her an appreciative look. She still wasn’t completely used to Raja sexualizing her so openly in front of people. She’ll have to get over that embarrassment quick, Raja noted to himself. These people were going to witness a whole lot more than that.

Raja made his way back over to stand beside Raven and the other guy not working the camera came to mark their places with tape. He had gotten rid of pretty much everybody who wasn’t completely necessary because he knew this one was going to be much more intimate and authentic than the others. “Okay so for this first part I want you to just stand straight on looking at the camera. And just look…cool” Raja instructed.

“Cool, sure okay.” Raven laughed a bit at Raja’s vague directions. Again she was wishing she had a drink (or four) to take the edge off. Why was she so nervous?

“You know what I mean.” Raja rolled his eyes as he stood right beside her, so close that Raven could feel the heat radiating from his body. “Just stand there, just like that, and don’t move.”

“Okay.”

“I’m serious Rave, don’t move. Even if I touch you.”

“Okay!”

Raja leaned in even closer so close Raven could feel his breath against the side of her face. His eyes were fixated on his fingers tracing over the designs in the tattoos on her shoulder, his mouth right next to her ear.

“Because I’m going to. Touch you. But you have to stay still. You can’t even look at me.” Raja’s low, stern voice in her ear sent a shiver up Raven’s spine.

“Okay” she whispered.

Both queens turned their eyes toward the other and there was something, a silent understanding coupled with an intense anticipation burning between them. Raja’s eyes glistened with a heated but playful energy, almost challenging Raven in a way, and suddenly the air around them shifted. Raven felt her nerves begin to dissipate as she fell into that rare yet familiar role, a surrender reserved for one of the few people who dared to assert control over her. Raja felt her submission as the authoritative energy took over him, and he knew both of them were finally ready.

“Alright, let’s get started.”

The first few takes were admittedly a little clunky. Raja decided they would film the video in pieces rather than running it straight through and having to fix their makeup a thousand times. He also had the idea that as the video progressed he would allow Raven more and more freedom to react to his manipulations, which he knew would become increasingly intense later on. Right now Raja had Raven standing stock-still and staring at the camera as he moved around her. He wasn’t quite sure what he was doing yet, all he knew is that he wanted Raven silent and motionless like a prop he could use however he pleased. The thought alone was exciting to him, but actually having her here proved a bit more overwhelming than he anticipated. Raja mouthed along with the words of his song while he improvised around her, posing and draping himself over her, whispering in her ear, and smoothing his hands over her shoulders and chest. Raven was doing pretty well not reacting to the touching, for the most part she stood completely still and her eyes never left the camera. But when Raja starting lip syncing in her ear and their faces got a little closer, Raven couldn’t stop herself and let out a small laugh.

“Raven!” Raja stopped the camera and gave her a look.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry” Raven covered her mouth to stop herself from giggling more.

“Stop laughing. This is supposed to be sexy!”

“I know! I’m sorry” Raven tried to straighten out her smile, “but you have to admit that ‘thunder-breathing dragon cat’ is kind of funny. How high were you when you wrote this?” Raven couldn’t help the smile that was sneaking back onto her face.

Raja tried his best to act offended couldn’t help the little laugh that escaped too. Raven always somehow managed to clock his intoxicated antics exactly, however he wasn’t about to admit she was right. He needed to keep Raven under control and her unexpectedly shading his song lyrics was not part of the plan. He stepped directly in front of her so the only thing the camera operator could see was Raja’s back, their faces only inches apart so that only they could hear one another. Raja tried his best to eliminate any amusement from his voice that Raven’s teasing caused. He needed to remind her who was in charge here.

“Stop it Rave. I need you to take this seriously”

“I know. I’m really trying to, I swear-“

“Are you?” Raja tried to keep a rigid tone. “Because I told you I need you to do exactly as I say”

“I know.”

“And that didn’t include your shady commentary about the song lyrics. I specifically remember asking you to be still and quiet.”

Raja was being strangely serious about this, Raven wasn’t quite sure how to respond. She was slightly intimidated by Raja’s authoritative tone but also kind of turned on. Raja was really hot when he got angry. She opened her mouth to apologize but Raja cut her off, leaning forward so his mouth was right above her ear. His right hand tightly wrapped around her wrist.

“If you can’t behave properly and follow instructions I’m gonna have to take you inside and remind you how to act. And believe me, you don’t want that.”

Raven didn’t even have a chance to react before Raja suddenly spun around to face the camera man, smiling again. “I think we’re gonna do a couple more takes and then switch it up a bit, move on to the next part”

For the next few takes Raven did exactly as she was told. She didn’t make any noise, she just stood and stared directly into the camera lens as Raja continued to touch her neck and shoulders while he lip synced. However her mind was distracted by Raja’s calm, casual warning in her ear and wondering exactly what he meant by “remind her how to act”? The thought of Raja taking Raven inside to punish her was strangely arousing and she wasn’t sure how to feel about that. Submitting was one thing, but actually looking forward to punishment? That was not something Raven was familiar with. There was just something about Raja that seemed to make her crazy sometimes. The tension between them was tight like the knot in Raven’s stomach, yet he was still so gentle with her. Raja on the other hand was fully enjoying the complete submission he felt from Raven after their little talk. He wanted to see if she really was trying to take this as seriously as she said, so Raja found ways to knowingly test her limits. He would intentionally touch her as softly as he could, breathing the song lyrics next to her face and letting just the tips of his fingers dance across her collarbone, and then suddenly he’d move to the other side and grab on to her shoulders and neck harshly to see if she would react. But she was so good for him, staying still and doing exactly as she was told. Her eyes never diverted from the camera, but Raja could still see the combination of distraction and need behind them. It was a game of wills they were playing, and Raja had to be in control. He had to win.

Finally Raven thought her prayers were answered when Raja announced that they were moving into the next section, but Raja wasn’t quite done playing with her just yet.

“So this is gonna be more of a tight shot, just the shoulders up, so we won’t see anything below that” Raja explained while he checked to make sure her makeup was still intact. Raven sent a silent thank you to the lord above that she would finally be able to move and touch him, or so she thought. “I still want you mostly still though. I’m going to be behind you in your ear so you won’t really see me” Raja noticed the faint disappointment in Raven’s eyes even as she nodded. He smiled as his hand left her face and skated softly down her body, pausing to run his fingers over her hip and slowly moving across the waistband of the front of her jeans. “but you’ll feel me, and you can move a little more. You don’t have to be so stiff this time.”

Raven inhaled sharply at the feeling of Raja’s fingers so low on her stomach. His gentle touch coupled with his deep voice had her entranced, and she internally willed his hands to travel just a few inches lower as she nodded again to show she understood. Raja didn’t hear her silent plea and instead ran over to check-in with the sound guy that everything was set at the correct time. Raven let out her breath, suddenly remembering that there were other people on set, and mentally ran through Raja’s directions again. They were starting the breakdown section. Raven vividly remembered listening to the song alone in her bathroom, and realized the “breakdown” was likely that section in the middle with all the moaning and whispering. Raja was going to do all that behind her? And she wouldn’t even be able to see? Raven would be lying if she said she wasn’t a little disappointed.

The heat of Raja’s body coming up behind her interrupted her thoughts, and she instantly felt his hand begin to caress her back. Ever since his little ‘threat’ earlier, Raja’s hands were like a magnet to Raven’s skin, constantly touching as soon as they were within a certain distance. Each small touch felt like an electric current running through them both, and it evoked a heady sense of desire in the pit of Raven’s stomach. Raja leaned her chin on Raven’s shoulder, the air between them was think with anticipation for what was coming next.

“Are you okay?” Raja asked, still rubbing Raven’s back. Raven nodded her head again, distracted.

Raven smiled meekly “I know, I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” Raja’s hand moved all the way up the base of Raven’s neck as he leaned his head on hers. All he wanted in that moment was to kiss her, but he had to restrain himself to avoid making a mess of their makeup. Instead he continued to tease her, dragging the fingertips of his right hand across her shoulder blades and his left hand coming to trace over her lower back, the sensation making Raven’s eyes fall heavy. Raja leaned in and murmured softly “Remember, the focus is just on our faces here, so make sure you look at the camera okay?”

Raven was so distracted by Raja’s hands on her that she barely registered what he was saying, but still she managed to follow his instructions and open her eyes. When she felt Raja’s right hand brush over a particularly sensitive spot on the side of her neck, Raven couldn’t help but lean against Raja and reach behind her to tentatively caress his thigh. Raja hissed at her touch. The dominant side of him was screaming at him to make her stop, that she wasn’t allowed to touch yet, but he closed his eyes and allowed himself to indulge for just a moment. Raja’s hands went away too as he signaled to start the music. A little bit of the last verse was played as a lead in to the breakdown and Raja mouthed the words directly beside Raven’s ear. At this close proximity she noticed that Raja had a tendency to actually say the words under his breath when he lip synced rather than just mouthing it. She stood a little in front of him and stared at the camera with her lips parted slightly, still a bit affected by Raja’s gentle petting moments before. Raja draped his arm over Raven’s left shoulder and let his hand drag up her chest, over her shoulder and down her back as he sang “I’m gonna give you all of my love”, then he shifted his body forward, snaking his hand around to her front and pressing himself into her back as he breathed in her ear “much much more than kisses and hugs”. Raven gasped as she felt Raja press into her from behind, not expecting to feel him half-hard against her back. She tried her best to keep her composure but Raven was sure that the camera caught the sudden moment of surprise in her eyes. Raja didn’t stop though, as the music slowed and sounds of him moaning surrounded them, Raven felt the hand splayed across her stomach begin to drift downward to the inside of her thigh. Both sets of eyes never strayed from the camera while Raja touched her and let out a breathy groan in her ear. Raven tried her best to stay still and collected but as his hand slowly inched higher up her leg Raven couldn’t control her instinctive response. He could see Raven becoming overwhelmed by the constant stimulation of his hands and he didn’t want things to get out of hand yet, so he murmured a low warning that he was going to let go of her. “Okay.”

“Really close. As close as possible” Raja brought their hands to either side as he took a small step towards Raven, practically standing on top of her. “I want our bodies completely pressed together. I want to be able to feel every inch of your skin against mine.” Raven felt her breath catch from Raja’s words in her ear. “I need to be able to touch you anywhere I want, and I want you to touch me back.”

Raven exhaled a small sigh of relief at the last part “I’m allowed to move?”

“Yes, but only a little. I’m still the one in control, I’m gonna hold you and I’m gonna touch you. I just need you to follow me.”

“Follow you where?”

“Follow my touch” he whispered in her ear. The smile in Raja’s voice was hypnotic, “React however feels natural for you, but I’ll give you little directions while we film.”

Raven absentmindedly nodded “Okay.”

Raja’s hands left hers to signal the music and cameraman to start, but immediately they returned to stroke either side of her face. Their gazes locked as Raja’s hands continued down her face and neck. At this point neither one of them were mouthing the words, but she heard Raja’s muted instructions, “Look at the camera.” Raven did as she was told and Raja continued to move his left hand down her body. He watched intently as his hand drifted over the muscles in her chest, feeling each one flex under his touch. His right hand held onto her shoulder to steady her as his fingertips continued grazing down Raven’s stomach. Raja watched her face attentively while his fingers continued to explore, her eyes staying locked on the camera as per his instructions. His right hand came up to caress the side of her face again, and when she didn’t waver under his touch, he let his left hand drift down further to brush against the front of her leg, his right hand falling down the side of her neck. Raja closed his eyes and envisioned them in a much more private, intimate setting.

Raven felt herself shiver at his touch, but her eyes never left the camera. Although she had permission to move and reciprocate, she felt frozen in place. She was so used to being touched and manipulated like a prop, it was almost natural for her to just stand and enjoy the feeling of Raja’s hands on her. Suddenly Raja stood tall again, bringing his left hand back up to meet his right. He turned her face back towards his, close enough that their eyes fell closed. Raja savoured every reaction he saw across Raven’s face, trying to burn the image into his memory. He heard the cameraman say something which finally caused Raja to pull away, suddenly remembering that there were 2 other people present. He looked over to see the camera still filming so Raja continued his performance while Raven recovered from his attack on her mouth. Raja could feel her body almost limp against his own, her chest rising and falling with deep, heavy breaths. She was completely exhausted and he wanted to take advantage of her satiated state, so he continued to tease her just a little more. Raja brought his hand across Raven’s shoulders and back, feeling her exhale heavily and lean into him. Raja’s hand lifted to the side of her face, his thumb grazing over her smudged makeup, and Raven thought for a moment that he was going to lean in and kiss her again. Instead she felt his hand glide down to lift her chin slightly. His fingers lingered just below her bottom lip, still seemingly entranced by her full, messy pout. His next instruction took Raven by surprise.

“Open your mouth.” Raven’s response was automatic, still hazy from their very long and intense makeout session. Raja smiled at her easy compliance “Good girl, now lick me.”

Raven looked at him with a dazed confusion, unsure if she had heard him correctly.

“Lick my fingers” Raja instructed as he traced them along her bottom lip. Raven hesitantly stuck out her tongue and licked the pads of Raja’s fingers. Both of them shivered at the intimate contact and she heard Raja curse under his breath. “Turn towards the camera and do it again.”

Raven followed his directions and turned herself slightly so her eyes were on the camera. She let her tongue run over Raja’s fingertips again while he smudged his own lipstick even further with the back of his hand. This time however, Raven didn’t just stop at a simple lick. Once her tongue reached the very tips of his fingers, she put 2 of his digits completely in her mouth, sucking on them gently. Raja hissed with a perfect mix of surprise, arousal and frustration at Raven for not following his instructions directly. He pulled his fingers out of her mouth and stroked the side of her face. “So eager” he shook his head, but all Raja could think of now was Raven’s lips around him. He hadn’t even noticed that the song had ended and they were standing in complete silence. Raja broke their stare to look up at the crew, easily shifting from intense to casual.

“Did we get all the footage we needed?” Raja asked the guys behind the camera.

“Yup, I think that’s a wrap!”
