“Arya’s proxy to power in the North is an abuse victim!”
Don’t let Sansa stans know that Sansa’s proxy to any power is the murder of an eight year old and the plans and resources of Littlefinger. The man who forced Jeyne to work in his brothel and sold her off to the Boltons in the first place
Any victory or queenship Sansa has in the North using the Vale’s money, power, and resources are co-signed by Baelish. But I’m willing to bet these losers wouldn’t consider that dismissive of Jeyne’s experiences
And if we want to go one step further, we could ask WHY Littlefinger sold Jeyne to the Boltons in the first place when everyone involved knows she’s actually a steward’s daughter, if his grand plan is to make Sansa Queen in the North? But that would be an inconvenient truth for the lemoncakes and their delusions about Sansa’s 100% morally righteous pathway to becoming Qween 😁
All of this...the goalpost is forever being moved by them. The fake activism they invent kills me and it's so obvious they only bring it up to police our discussions; they can't stand to see people acknowledge Arya's importance to the Northern plot, so they came up with the "trying to make Jeyne's pain about Arya" accusation. If they actually cared about Jeyne they wouldn't be using her as a prop against stans/discussions they don't like.
What's funny is that they invent these moral guidelines when all it does is make them look worse. Cause if it's wrong to point out that Jeyne is posing as Arya, the entire point of her marrying Ramsay, how is it okay to write meta about Sansa benefiting from the poisoning of a disabled child (one orphaned by LF's plotting no less)🤔? They never want to touch those moral implications though...at best they're sticking their heads in the sand and pretending Sansa has no idea, at worst they're writing meta about SW being an abuser :/. It's just hilarious that they swear we can't see how hypocritical they're being. That's why their metas make no sense, they don't have any cohesive logic 😭

This is going to be ranty and I've touched on this subject before. So if you're a Steve worshipper look away. For the record, I love his character but I cannot stand the constant mischaracterization of him. It turns him into a joke. He's not a mom and the comparison is frankly sexist not to mention shows how much people are willing to overlook with regard to his character. Joyce does triple the amount of work and is an actual mom, so if you want to praise someone for being a mom look to the real one. Instead she gets practically ignored by the fandom. Steve does the bare minimum compared to a lot of people and gets worshipped, and the result of this is that people end up turning him into a 1 dimensional version of himself. He has flaws and it's important to acknowledge them. He's far more interesting and relatable this way. Without doing that he gets turned into a god-like figure who is infallible. But the worst of this is the constant erasure of Jonathan. I keep seeing posts saying that Steve would be such an amazing mentor to Will and how wonderful their relationship will be next season. Be for fucking real. They don't have a relationship and never will and Will doesn't need him. Not to mention the fact that Steve isn't a mentor. He is a peer. And only to Dustin, Lucas, Max, and Erica who are the only kids who are shown to have any kind of relationship with him. And honestly Dustin is the only one that isn't superficial. It's especially notable in the case of Mike that they never developed a relationship. It shows that not only are Mike and Nancy not that close, but her ex-boyfriend never bonded with him. Mike tends to respond to Steve with the same contempt he has for his father in the brief moments we've seen between the two.
It's Jonathan who is an ally to Will. It's Jonathan Will and Mike trust. It's Jonathan Mike has known since he was 5. And it's Jonathan who has constantly protected them. Neither one of them have a relationship with Steve. All of these characters have been on the show since the beginning. If Steve had a major impact on any of their lives they would have shown it by now. And yes, Steve is no longer the bullying asshole he once was. He has gone through a great character arch that has shown him growing and changing in a realistic way. However, he still has a lot to learn and this was demonstrated through his shitty advice to Robin early in the season. Him dismissing her fears of asking Vickie out was not ok and shows he doesn't fully understand her point of view. Just because he ended up being right at the end doesn't excuse the fact that he told her to just ask Vickie out simply because she paused a movie at a certain time. He could have very easily been wrong and it was valid that she was hesitant.
Steve used to bully people for being gay, and again, it's good that he doesn't do this anymore and has grown. But this is the version of Steve that Will, Mike, and Jonathan know. They know the version of him that called Jonathan the f word and said his brother deserved to die. They know the version of him that said their abusive father was right. Mike and Will are not coming out to Steve.
In fact, people should expect them to be afraid of him and expect Jonathan to immediately be on guard and protective. Because this is the only version of him they know. Steve was known around town for being a bully and he still has this reputation - Eddie says this season he is surprised Steve wasn't an asshole even though Dustin insisted.
Mike and Will are two scared kids who live in a town that behaves the way Steve used to. They expect this kind of reaction. It's Jonathan's calm, empathetic support they need. It isn't the guy who used to be homophobic - and honestly has no patience for the kids - to help them out. Quiet, sensitive Will does not need someone loud and impatient who used to act like his abusive father in his life. And it's not on Mike and Will to absolve Steve of his past crimes.
And I absolutely cannot stand all the headcanons that I see of how Steve is going to start a LGBTQ support group around Hawkins for Robin and Will. It's utterly ridiculous. We absolutely do need Robin bonding with Will (and Mike and Vickie) but there is honestly no excuse for the constant insertion of Steve into this narrative. It is not a place he belongs. As an ally, it's important for him to recognize there are spaces that aren't for him. They do not need his permission or approval to talk to each other.
And bonding with Robin does not automatically come with a close bond with Steve. It isn't required. She is her own separate person who has her own separate experiences that Steve does not always need to be apart of just because they are friends. It's far more impactful to see a moment between Will and Robin (including with Mike and Vickie) without Steve randomly being there saying pointless shit. And they aren't wasting a moving coming out moment with Steve and Mike and Will instead of with people they are actually close to. Inserting him into this narrative changes the focus from the LGBTQ character to Steve. It makes it entirely about him and his response instead of them. In fact it's not outside of the realm of possibility that he just never finds out or it's a very quick moment that happens in passing. But erasing his characters actual role on the show completely misses the point of why he's still in this narrative. The cool guy isn't the focus of this story for once. It's not his story. That doesn't mean he isn't important. It means that for once the straight, white dude who's conventionally attractive is taking a backseat and not only that, but he's not resentful about this. He doesn't act bitter that he isn't the focus. And this is such an important role to see.

i’d love to hear your take on sans’ personality!
i was going through your whole blog (as you do) and saw ur post on how sans tends to be mischaracterized, but fanon takes are also very normal and generally just fine, and i agree - i feel like some amount of personal spin from the author is always expected (and keeps things fresh and fun to a degree), but i also feel as if sans is a somewhat tough character to actually pin down when you’re writing him, so i’ve similarly had to drop some fic when they stray too widely from my non-negotiable sans traits lol. (like Being Calm and unruffled. bc while some of that is depression, a large part of it is Just The Way He’s Built lmao.)
Oh for sure, I also have my own set of Sans mischaracterization pet peeves in fics (though I'd often look the other way if the fic is well-written because beggars can't be choosers, no writer owes anyone a perfect Sans voice, fanfics are for fun, etc etc. Hell one of my favorite fics of all time portrayed Sans as an asshole and I'm not complaining because good god the writing is just THAT delicious and I still can't believe I'm reading it for free).
E.g Sans calling another adult (often times the MC) with 'kid'. Or like I've mentioned on another post, if he's quick to anger or aggressive enough to attack at the slightest provocation. Sometimes it's not a case of mischaracterization at all, just something I personally can't read without feeling like a wet kitten (the next time I read an overused skeleton related pun I will escape my own and DIE).
I often theorize why this is a Thing. I yearned to understand why I'm subjected to read yet another skele-ton, tibia, humerus, funny bone pun. Maybe since Undertale was popular with a big ass fanbase, and Sans is like our mascot, so when you combine this with a majority of the fandom being in the younger side -- youths full of time and creativity and energy though lacked the writing experience -- what's left of our poor skeleton is a pile of flanderized bones. Which is often the case when you're young and you just started writing because damn that blue skeleton is too romance able to deny (want write... But HOW write???).
You thought of some of his traits you often see (ketchup, touch Papyrus and die, blue glowing eye, epic bones & blaster attacks, puns, depression, have I mentioned the touch Papyrus and die? Puns again, threats, the bad time catchphrase, so on so forth) and you use these as a guiding bible to writing Sans the Skeleton. Boom, Sans x Reader 200k enemies to lovers.
,,,Bottom line is, I'm kind of sure the tendency to mischaracter him stems from Undertale's popularity and the younger part of the fandom. That, or after all these years, people had simply grown to love and accept Fanon Sans in all his slightly unlikeable behavior glory (heartwarming). So the inaccurate potrayal is now, like, on purpose -- on top of fanon him being easier to pin down because the canon guy are too tricky to pin down, like you said.
From what I've seen though, the canon Sans starts to get the love he deserves again! All is good. Now I can read a Sans x Reader 200k enemies to lovers, but with the actual dude this time. Awesome.
Ight, that said. I legit also think people should write him in the way that makes them the happiest. Sans is fictional but your happiness isn't. Even if your Sans will finally be the one to prompt me to escape my own skeleton. Or your Sans is RABID and deserves JAILTIME and GROWLS and BARA. Go wild, be free, and more importantly, have fun! <3

Watching Picard season 3, episode 1. The Next Generation.
(Contains Major spoilers for the ep)
The music is so chill, tho I DO want to set the world on fire
Awww, pretty flowers
Uhhhhh, the masks are kinda random 👀
Interesting, one of Picards logs is playing 🤔
OH IT'S BEVERLY!!!
Wait oh found them?!
Oh no what happened to the crew member?🤔
OH HOLY SHIT
NO BEVERLY SHE'S BEEN SHOT
NOOOOOOOOO
Ngl, it's giving Ranger vibes
She's so badass I can't even I'm screaming
She just came out of the fog like a freaking angel of war
Oh noooo, she's bleeding
Is ANYONE gonna let the crew dude out?
OOOOOOOO SHE'S TRANSMITTING HER MESSAGE FROM THE TRAILER
LARIS! I THOUGHT SHE WASN'T GONNA BE IN THIS SEASON I'M SO HAPPY
Are they talking about his past relationships?
Oh
They're talking about a painting 😂😂😂
YEAH GEODRDI MY BABE
He runs a museum? Wasn't expecting that, but good for him😂
Awwww, Laris won't let the guy pack up Picard's painting
Ohhhh, so they're going on a trip, I thought they were going over his Will 😂
*sees the flute* I'm gonna sob it's fine
"I am not a man who needs a legacy." Dude you totally are that type of man😂
When I see that record player all I can think of is Q
Computer: "Unable to determine the location."
"Thanks for your help." I do not think that he was thankful for the help😂
OH MY GOD IT'S HIS OLD COM BADGE
I'M SCREAMING
I have literal chills
OH NY GOD IT'S BEVERLY I HAVE SO MUCH CHILL
"And Jean-Luc. No Starfleet. Trust no one." I'M SCREAMING OH MY GOD
I love Laris and Picard's talks by the fire
Dude, you've seriously haven't spoken to her in over 20 years? For shame dude
Oh, she cut everyone off😅
"You even tried to be Lovers, didn't you?" Man, I picked the absolute worst time to take a drink of pink lemonade, I nearly choked cause I couldn't help but burst out laughing 😂😂
I love how Laris is fully behind the fact that Beverly isn't paranoid
Picard: "I'll be back in a few days, maybe even less."
Laris: "Maybe even more."
Me: Or maybe he won't be back at all, and he'll die before you can ever see him again.
Oh fuck, she's gonna save him a seat😭 imagine if she's sitting there waiting for him only to get news he's died.
Their first (on screen) kiss!
I love that Guinan seals souvenirs😂
"That's 'Galaxy Class' to you young lady!" Riker is offended 😂
"Deanna and Kestra will appreciate the time away from me." Oh no, what happened (what did ya do Riker)
Picard totally wants to ask what happened but is holding his tongue, tho I wish he wouldn't cause I wanna know
WHAT HAD BEVERLY SO TERRIFIED!
So she cut off Deanna, Will AND Geordi as well, that definitely raises red flags since she was close with Deanna
RAFFI
I KNOW THAT WALK IT'S TOTALLY RAFFI
Oh God, the Daddy kink still lives? I hate it.
Nooo, Raffi's getting drugs😭
"My girlfriend left me." NOOOOOOOOOOOO
PLEASE LET THIS BE HER COVER 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I'm thinking it's a cover since she's really trying to get info
Who's the Red Lady? BEVERLY? SHE HAS RED HAIR! COULD IT BE ABOUT GOING AFTER HER
Oh, I would greatly like to kill this dude for hurting Raffi
OOOOOOOOOOO SHE IS UNDERCOVER YAY
I'm so proud of her for dropping the drug instead of using it😭
"I'm not sure about this plan."😂
"It's not a plan, it's a ruse." Same old Riker😂
THE TITAN
THAT MEANS SEEVVVVVVVEEEN!!!!! OH, I remember it from Lower Decks 😂
"The First Officer, on the other hand, I think you'll recognize." SEVEN
SEEEEVVVVVVVVEN!
Tumblr media
(Actual footage ^ of the Saffi Fandom)
"Captain Shaw prefers that I use "Hansen," Admiral"
Oh hell no, I hate this Captain with a burning passion now cause how fucking DARE HE
The way that Picard paused to correct the one guy's posture and badge 😂
Oh Seven totally doesn't like the Captain 😂
*Ensign grins at Picard* Picard to Seven:"Is there something wrong with that Ensign?"
"Ensign La Forge, eyes on your station." I'M SCREAMING
Oh God, Riker is totally embarrassing her by bringing up her Nickname from the academy. If Deanna was there, she'd totally hack him and say: "Will!"
Seven's face when Picard said she should take the ship out😭 she was like a lil kid trying to hide how happy she was😭
*Picard tells Seven something way out of date in regards to flying then ship*
Seven:"It's all automated now."
Picard:"Oh... Of course." *Clears his throat awkwardly* "You're going to be a Captain before you know it, Commander Hansen."
Riker, grinning: "Excellent recovery, Admiral."
Picard: "Shut it, Will."
This Captain eating has me uncomfy
Dude, Picard was definitely not expecting this guy to be an ass
Riker looks like he would like to beat up the Captain 😂
Oh. Wow. I really hate this guy
Seven just watching the convo between them is a mood
Picard really should've done his homework on what stations were open
Seven is so helpful
Oh wow, he's even more of an asshole than I expected.
Honestly, I'm kinda shocked they're not gonna just knock the Captain unconscious and take control of the ship, saying that the Captain isn't feeling well😂
Seven watching Riker and Picard go has me wondering what her plan is🤔
AWWWWWW RAFFI'S GRANDBABY😭
"Good morning sweet girl"😭😭😭😭😭
Raffi's lil smile 😭
Raffi looks so done with her handler
Awwww, my poor babe, she's so tired
Did she just get discharged from Starfleet? Oh, just pulled up into from her file
"You are a warrior." The way Raffi's whole demeanor changed has me thinking she was brainwashed and this was saying was the trigger word to activate her
It would totally make sense since we know Worf fights her at one point
WHAT IF HE'S HER HANDLER
Oh my god, Riker and Picard are sleeping in bunkbeds 😂😂
Seven summoned them! Yay
Oh what is she planning
"You're gonna tell me what the hell you two are really doing here of I'm about to throw both of you out of an airlock and never look back." Aw, this reminds me of Voyager Seven😊
SHE MENTIONED JANEWAY!!!! I'M SCREAMING
Oh damn, Seven should go back to the Rangers, cause honestly I just want her to be happy and she doesn't seem to be.
Did she throw the Captain out of an airlock
Awwww, she ignored orders and brought them to the edge of federation space
I love how Seven followed her instincts
"I like that Seven." Same, Will, same.
The way everyone looked back as the Captain kinda fired Seven, they like her better
I feel like I should have an idea who Rachel Garrett is but I'm blanking
OH SHIT
Raffi's trying to get through to Starfleet, but it isn't working 👀
Oh I hope my babe doesn't witness an attack cause that could really traumatize her
OH NO
OH MY GOD, I HAVE CHILLS
The screaming of them is horrible 😭
She just witnessed a huge tragedy and wasn't able to do anything, that would definitely mess a person up
WAIT
Her son's family doesn't live in District Seven, do they?
WHAT IF THAT'S WHY SHE TRIES TO HAVE A FIGHT
"So long as we don't have to move or shot we should be fine." Me😂
The fact that Picard made Beverly a playlist instead of giving her flowers 😭😂
Wait wait wait
WHAT IF BEVERLY STOLE THE STUFF TO PROTECT IT AND WHOEVER ATTACKED HER STOLE IT AND USED IT TO ATTACK STARFLEET
Oh fuck, what the heck happened to her nose? It looks Alien
"Number one she's here" not me thinking his Dog was about to come running with a wagging tail😂
DUDE (Me to the guy who's holding Riker at gunpoint)
Does Beverly have another son?🤔
HOLY SHIT I WAS RIGHT
Wait, were they after him?🤔
I wonder who his dad is🤔
Wonder if his older brother ever showed up to take him to baseball games in the past 😂
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THAT'S HOW THEY END IT? OH COME ON
The older trek music has me so happy
If you'll need me, I'll be screaming and reading as much fanfic as I can until the next episode.

Hello there I'm relative new to the F1 been watching since 2020 my brother got me into it. He promised me Lewis supremacy FIA Mafia for only him 😭 He lied. I have never cared for sport and 2021 destroyed me, i will never recover that horrible night. Anyway twitter is full of merceds has betrayed Lewis and listened to G, etc. So I want you opinion on this, my brother thinks it's impossible for them to throw lewis away this soon, but it happend to Seb at Ferrari so it will happend, for me it seems impossible but since last year something feels terrible wrong and maybe is just Totto who betrayed him, after all he his prodigy gets the best outcome of "beating" Lewis, but I still think Mercedes would want to keep using Lewis a little longer to praise G. I have seen your asks and at the moment you seem like a neutral person who is calm and can have a more informed opinion about this, do you think toto has wrong Lewis this year listening to the new guy who has never won anything before or is just fandom going nuts over a long time coming hate towards G.
For me,now it's that it just took time for people to see him for what he is. For me the moment he went to hit Valterri went he was "trying" to prove himself to Totto that's for me is who he is. (Another dirty driver as Max) Lewis is older now and clever and I believe that even if G turns worst that Nico, Lewis will handle things destroying him in a way that he didn't do NR because that shit was in another level because after all it was the betray of his childhood friend, Lewis seems so chill about G is like he is not even there to begging with.
I don't want to believe Mercedes actually did this wrong to his fucking best guy but Totto is not giving me any good vibes these days.
I hope this is not rude or anything. I just want to know your opinion.
hey! putting the whole thing under the cut because i don't want to be negative or whatever this answer is going to make me sound like. might regret answering but oh what the hell. so yeah, 2021 has changed a lot of things and nothing's the same ever since for me too and i get you.
anyway i have to say the vibes are off and i'm not liking it at all. lewis himself has said they didn't listen to him although we don't know exactly which suggestion. also i don't know if they listened to george over lewis. amid everything toto's waffled in the last few days, one thing that matches with everything that's happening is, there's a fundamental issue that lewis isn't happy with. it could be the same issue he asked to get fixed and they ignored. toto also said it will take time to fix it but a) we don't know how long and b) he didn't necessarily say they're going to fix it?
lewis on the other hand sounded hopeful and despite the shit he's trapped in, he's waiting for a major update they might get after the first 3 races are done, so i'm hoping things might start looking up for him. i'm going to hold onto that and remain calm. because the only fight he can have is with that damn car till then sadly.
and about them pushing him out, it's a real possibility with all the teams so i don't see why this team would be any different. (i'm saying this knowing full well his loyalty, determination to stay and all the long term plans he has for diversity, sustainability, etc. btw) not saying it will happen but if it does, i won't be shocked is all i'm saying.
i've avoided adding to the clusterfuck and doom & gloom fully thus far but i have a feeling something monumental is afoot behind the scenes. he's either making the big shuffle for the preparation of a round two per se or he is leaving or a secret third thing (we'll die a slow and painful death watching him continue to struggle).
but whatever it is that happens, i'm here for him.
maybe this isn't what you expected but this is how i'm feeling the past few days. hope i'm not being rude traumadumping on u

For the Fandom Game: Narcos
The gasp I fucking gasped at this! I love it. Letsgoooo
The first character I first fell in love with: My unhinged colonel, Horacio Carrillo. I love him and all of his war crimes. 😌
Tumblr media
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Okay so someone who grew on me in a major way was definitely Amado. I never disliked him, but for the longest time he was just Some Guy to me but now when he's on screen I am fully 👀 paying attention 👀
Tumblr media
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I feel like there's no one in OG Narcos that I dislike that people would really consider an unpopular opinion. I'm gonna tweak this a little and do a character from Narcos: Mexico because??? I can 😂 My apologies to the Calderoni girlies but I would throw that man off a roof with my bare hands if given the opportunity. And I wouldn't feel bad about it. 😌
Tumblr media
The character I love that everyone else hates: Okay I know that he is not everyone's cup of tea, but there is something that I am just so fucking obsessed with when it comes to Navegante. I don't want him. But I want to study him. I want to put him in a big ol' terrarium on my windowsill and take notes on his behavior.
Tumblr media
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: I still love all the characters that I loved that the start. Momma didn't raise a quitter. 😌
The character I would totally smooch: He's a Wife Guy so I know that he would never, but god the way I just want to plant one on Jorge. I love him. Let me put him in my pocket I'm begging. (There are hardly any gifs of him in the search which is fucking CRIMINAL I'm weeping. Look at him and his little beard. God. He could fix me I know it.)
Tumblr media
The character I’d want to be like: Please let me be a boss bitch like Judy Moncada. I want a painted portrait of myself and a tiger hanging in my living room. I want to have weird, antagonistic sexual tension with Javi. Por favor.
Tumblr media
The character I’d slap: The list is too long! I love all these men but god they can all be so stupid sometimes! Passing one brain cell around just simply isn't enough. 😂 Although I will say, despite how much I love him, I think that my hillbilly husband Steve Murphy should've caught hands at some point. Maybe someone could've slapped some Spanish vocab into his brain idk 😂
Tumblr media
A pairing that I love: Limon and farming. 😌 Lmaooo no but real talk I will be a Steve/Connie girlie till I die. I love them so much. God. Yes.
Tumblr media
A pairing that I despise: Not a romantic pairing, but the entire dynamic between Pablo and his mom drove me absolutely up the walls. The cognitive dissonance of those two really had me putting my head through drywall lmao 😂 It's not even like they have a ton of scenes with just the two of them or anything but they are just such a horrid little feedback loop for each other.
Tumblr media
Thank you for this!!! xoxo
Send me a fandom!

People for the most part aren’t saying shit like “uwaaaa simon deserved to die because he was irredeemable!” Literally the whole point was that he could have changed and was given multiple opportunities to, but he chose not to. His death isn’t justified, it’s supposed to be fucked up and sad. Grace literally starts sobbing and holding the ashes of her best friend. She WANTED him to change and he ignored her and uhhhh LITERALLY THREW HER OFF THE TRAIN-
Everyone is aware Simon has trauma. But Grace has trauma too and she improved herself. And the reason that people say “Grace did nothing wrong” is because 97% of Simon fans are racist and misogynistic. Blaming all of his shitty behavior on her, saying his behavior was justified because “Grace lied to him” (never mind the fact that she lied to him because she knew that he would have zero problem KILLING A SIX YEAR OLD-), complaining about how Simon didn’t get redeemed in a show about redemption even though Grace is the protagonist of b3 and the whole season was about her redemption. If anyone says something like “fuck Simon and his white boy problems” it’s because we’re fucking tired of black characters getting shit on because everyone favors the white boy instead. There’s also obvious racist coding on him where he he expects Grace to owe him everything and tell him how to behave
I’ll also say the npd incident on Twitter is shitty as fuck, but it wasn’t a confirmation. An ignorant part of the crew said Simon was a narcissist, got called out, and took it back. It’s a huge stretch to say the season was ableist for killing him. Also anyone with any disorder can be shitty and they aren’t exempt from being called out. You can argue that the killing off of Simon was ableist because it implies that he deserved to die for having npd, but I literally covered that point in the beginning by saying his death was never supposed to be deserved
The last thing I’m gonna say is that like. Do people know they can like an antagonist character without trying to justify their actions??? I personally had fun watching Simon be a bastard and that’s why I liked him. Sometimes a character is traumatized but also a bastard that’s fun to hate. That’s the point of most villains
Sayonara
...okay. with all due respect, anon, not only are you wrong; you are also quite literally proving my point. i'll try to keep this as brief as can be, which if i were honest, might not be very brief.
for starters, most of the people who vehemently hate simon– which really consists of a majority of the fandom, let's be honest– reiterate that his "refusal to change," (ie. his refusal to redeem himself) is why he deserved to die. because if grace changed, learned, and grew as a person, he could have, too; however, his perceived refusal to do so makes him somehow worthy of his demise. this mindset, accompanied with some other things i'll be touching on later, makes it evident that there was ableism written into the show with simon's character. however, we can get to that in due time, since i want to respond to some of the other things you brought up first.
i'm well aware that his death is supposed to be fucked up and sad. that being said, his death can be fucked up and sad while also having ableist ideology embedded within it– the ableism is the problem here. also, if it was meant to be so sad, then why did they demonize him to the extent that they did, and why did the audience celebrate his death? all that being said, i will leave the mentions of the ableism for when i get to where you bring it up.
second of all, saying simon was given multiple opportunities to change ignores the fact that without guidance, some people will not be able to change. without a support system, some people will not be able to change. and don't come in here with "grace guided and supported him!" or "grace doesn't owe him any of that!" as if support isn't something almost everyone needs in order to grow; especially support from a friend. as for my first example, she really didn't guide or support him; not in the way he needed to grow as a person. all of his "opportunities" to change were moments where grace ended up lashing out at him for doing something wrong without explaining to him what he was doing that was wrong. she'd simply end up putting distance between them– making simon think she's going to abandon him just like samantha had– or saying something along the lines of "now's not the time, simon." and scolding him; or, at worst, pulling rank on him. people like simon need love and support to grow as people, and of course you're going to want it from someone you admire and trust. literally the only reason grace came to grow was because she was shown love by this little girl and she saw how much the girl– who she believed to be human at the time– loved this denizen as if she were her own mother. that made her realize she was wrong about the denizens.
the only reason it didn't work like that with simon was due to his previous experiences with samantha. telling himself that the denizens didn't have real emotions was the way he coped with the abandonment. calling them "null"s and saying they don't feel anything made it easier for him to accept that he was abandoned, because that'd mean if they did feel something, then samantha just didn't care for him enough. i know we're on the topic of simon and grace, but it's important to touch on at least one of the reasons why simon's "opportunities" to grow weren't really opportunities, since he's so deep in his maladaptive coping mechanisms and disordered thinking processes that it just doesn't occur to him that tuba was actually capable of loving hazel. even right before he killed tuba, he still believed what he believed despite what he knew about her since he just couldn't wrap his mind around a denizen genuinely caring for a person.
thirdly, on your point of him throwing her off the train– i'm not saying he was in the right to do so, because... no, he obviously wasn't. however, he wasn't initially planning on throwing her off after she saved him. it was her saying she doesn't know why she did it– which, again, i don't blame her for; i understand how she feels there, sometimes your gut tells you to do something, and you just do it– that triggered his paranoia, made him fear that if she doesn't know why she saved him then she could easily betray him again. her breaking his trust made it difficult for him to trust her again, even after she saved his life. the moment he realized what he had done, he started crying and regretted it. yes, he was also laughing, but that's not because he found it entertaining that he had [supposedly] killed his friend.
and, yeah, a lot of simon fans have a chance of being racist and/or misogynistic, that's one thing you got right. and i understand the sentiment of saying she did nothing wrong to combat the bigotry towards her; the only problem is she has done wrong, just as much as simon. she's not perfect, either. acting like she's done nothing wrong completely undermines her growth and development.
moving onto my next point, it does bother me a lot that you said she knew simon would have no problem killing a six year old because that's just... not true. simon never showed malicious intent toward hazel, neither before nor after he learns she's a denizen. grace believed simon would kill hazel because, after he killed tuba (which was initially an order from grace, btw) and she discovered hazel is a denizen, hazel was afraid she was next– which makes sense in the mind of this kid who just lost her parental figure and knows simon's distaste towards denizens. simon values grace's opinions, if she had just sat him down and explained things to him before the point where he started harboring resentment towards her (that is, episode 5 and earlier) then he likely would have listened. would he have a difficult time understanding and accepting it? yes. but he wouldn't have killed hazel. he would try to understand because grace mattered that much to him.
obviously she isn't to blame for [most of] simon's harmful actions, but she was one of the most influential figures in his life and quite literally shaped many of his beliefs and world views, along with samantha. she is not responsible for his actions, but it's important to acknowledge her role in all this, since she had a pretty big one.
also, i'm sorry, but him expecting her to owe him everything– since i assume you mean the line in episode 10, where he said that to grace– was a direct parallel to the first episode of book one where grace saved simon from when his harpoon pack broke. he said he owes her one, and she responded with something along the lines of, "you owe me everything." simon expects her to tell him how to behave because she is not only the leader the the apex, but also because he is quite literally dependant on her; she's the only person his age who he can confide in, since there is absolutely no one else their age around them, they are surrounded by kids several years younger than them.
OKAY. now to the ableism discussion. remember when i said i would try to keep this brief? yeah. apparently there wasn't much i could do to make it brief.
while the canonicity of simon's NPD is semi-subjective (i say "semi" because... it was observably written and coded into his character), the clinical narcissist tweets made by lindsay still massively impacted how the fanbase perceives him and that is undoable. also, it's funny that you say "an ignorant part of the crew" when the whole crew has a massive history of ableism; the fact that they got called out and deleting their tweets does not mean that they took it back and changed for the better. it is not a stretch to say the season was ableist for killing him because it quite literally was.
a while back, a friend of mine had called out lindsay's ableism and owen, you know, the creator of infinity train, blocked them for it. then owen proceeded to delete some tweets where he said things about how sociopaths are incapable of change and he wanted simon to be one of those types of characters in order to show that not everyone on the train is good. owen is literally ableist. the "ignorant parts" of the crew is the whole crew. no one took any statements back, they just tried to sweep everything under the rug. owen saying he wanted to make simon like this and then him dying due to his incapability to change is quite literally proof that ableism was written into his character.
and just one question to you. do you have NPD? like, really, do you? because if you don't, it's awfully strange that you're trying to argue that it's not ableism.
and, finally, yes. people do know that. i know that. i like many villains without justifying their actions. do people know that others are allowed to defend the characters they like who are widely hated and misunderstood by the fandom??? i also had fun watching simon be a bastard, but AS SOMEONE WITH NPD, it fucking irks me how you guys treat him. so sorry that i don't tolerate ableism directed towards my very stigmatized disorder! lmao.

I like how you approaches this argument, you are so objective.
My fear is that Colin is doing all this watching a contract from which he can't go out. I think everyone told him: "Hey! Let's do NFT! It's too cool! Trust us!" including his brother. Unfortunately, as you said, it's obvious that he doesn't have a true expert manager to help him. So he says "Ok, I'm not the expert. You are. Let's try this" and now he can see the big bullshit that they told him (and he told himself, onestly). I can't believe that someone can have fucked him like this, making him spend money in this shit.
As a fan I wait more the film "Lucky" in august, because it was better that he continued to dub, pending a major project, rather than embarking into this. It is also really strange for Colin publishing so stubbornly. When "Arcadia" came out he put only one post (or maybe two). Always super gentle and excited, writing a few stupid cute things. Now seems more than he's saying "Guys please I'm forced. No my fault. Wtf I have done?", meanwhile he screaming for what is happening to him.
I'm in love with Hook, and I admire Colin for his interpretation, so I'm sorry to see him in difficulty (and I am also a lot disgusted by these NFT brothers). I can't hate him, for me is a naive " victim" ( Not completely victim, maybe he would have to think about it better)
What do you think?
I agree completely!
It's almost certainly part of whatever contract he's signed that he's expected to promote the project - both the podcast and the NFTs. So he really has no choice but to keep posting/retweeting about it, regardless of how we feel - or even how he feels, himself.
I do think he was surrounded by people telling him all about how great it all is - and not enough exposure to the predominantly negative opinions the rest of the world has. The NFT community is very much an echo chamber, where they purposely "shut down" dissenting voices and write them off as "scared" or "jealous" or "not as smart/cool/etc as we are". And their entire business model is built on convincing newcomers of how awesome and profitable it all is.
And I think his brother's experiences likely helped support those ideas. Allen probably hasn't gotten anywhere near the hate/criticism that Colin's gotten - firstly, because he's not famous, and secondly, because a lot of his 'fans' are the younger and/or more impressionable members of Colin's own fandom. (I don't mean that as an insult to those fans - I was once young and impressionable, as well, and I absolutely threw unwarranted attention at friends/family of my faves when I was. Now I'm older and view things very differently; one day they likely will, as well. That's life.) The very fans who are appalled at Colin doing this are generally the kinds of fans that haven't been following Allen and frankly don't care what he's been doing. So I think the extreme negative reaction might very well have been a complete surprise to both of them.
All the more reason why Colin should have someone watching his back and guiding him in these kinds of matters. If his guidance is mostly coming from family and friends, he's just asking to get taken advantage of - and I honestly feel this time he has been. All one has to do is look at the negative press Brie Larson's NFT activity has generated and you can see it's NOT wise for a celebrity to get involved with the things unless they're truly willing to "ride or die" for the cause or they literally have nothing to lose.
But it warms my heart to see his fans come out and support and comment on his non-NFT posts when he makes them. I think he DOES have a very sincere and loyal fan base that will likely stick with him through this, at least for the short term - provided he continues to touch base with us through non-NFT posts at times. But I hope the contract he signed isn't for too long of a term, and I hope he gets out of it at the first opportunity. I also hope he hasn't sunk too much (any) of his own money into the crypto network.
And I'm excited for "Luck" too! ❤️ I think it's great that he's got another project on its way, although apparently there's some drama with the studio behind it - though I've completely forgotten what it was, as it wasn't of interest to me. At any rate, I hope that project goes better than this one!

so i'm usually a ship and let ship kind of bitch. like even if a dynamic makes no sense to me and i could never in a million years see a particular pair finding their way around to being romantically interested in each other, i get that fiction is malleable. you can do whatever you want and write those characters however you want and put them in whatever scenario you want to get them together and it's all in good fun.
so with all that being said, i'm about to be super petty and judgmental about a ship. we have weebs on instagram to thank for this utterly unproductive and meaningless vent. major jjk spoilers because ofc this is about the jjk fandom.
i don't think there has ever been a ship that makes me so viscerally uncomfortable and makes my skin crawl so much as people shipping megumi and sukuna does. it's like levi/eren on super steroids.
like i know i'm being a cranky grandma by pointing out that sukuna isn't interested in megumi because he wants to smooch him but instead because he wants to use megumi's powers for his own ends (and is most likely planning on literally consuming him because he is literally a cannibal), but sukuna's interest in megumi reads far too much to me like grooming behavior to ever find it compelling in any way as a ship.
and tbf i can understand watching the fight scene between them in episode 5 (and hearing about the show me/bewitch me/seduce me line) and thinking "ooh yeah a sexy villain ship" and not thinking that hard about it. sukuna being a cannibal isn't even something that has been mentioned in the canon story, only in an author interview. but once the story progresses sukuna only gets worse. the story only gets darker. so all the cutesy memes about sukuna making megumi fucking breakfast or whatever just drive me insane. i just can't find the humor there.
yuuji is willing to die to prevent sukuna from carrying out whatever plan he has for megumi. we as the audience are meant to be concerned for megumi. we are meant to not want whatever sukuna is planning to come to pass. there is a literal artistic parallel drawn between the way mahito fucks with and manipulates yuuji and what sukuna is trying to do with megumi and the audience is meant to be creeped out by it. the fact that people romanticize and find sexy a dynamic where an adult man and mass murderer is planning on manipulating and using a 15 year old boy for some nefarious purpose that will likely end with megumi's gruesome and torturous death is quite frankly revolting to me.
it's all just extra upsetting to me when i think about how so much of the story and so many of the characters are motivated by preventing kids from being abused. gojo's entire goal as a character is a restructuring of the status quo to prevent another toji or another getou or another riko. he is seething with righteous fury when he figures out that higher ups set up yuuji to die and didn't care if it meant megumi and nobara died with him. he specifically intervenes in okkotsu and yuji's cases because he rightly recognizes how fucked up it is to clandestinely execute a child for something that isn't their fault.
i saw a brilliant write up on how nanami and mei mei are narrative foils both in their philosophy towards jujutsu and how they care for the young people in their care. nanami comes back to jujutsu because he knows he can save lives and help people. he makes it clear to yuuji that he is the adult and it is his responsibility to keep yuuji safe. he dies trying to get to megumi to make sure he's safe from toji. he carefully chooses his final words to yuuji so as to not fuck him up. meanwhile mei mei is only in it for money. she won't lift a finger to protect anyone, let alone a child, unless she's getting paid. she has her kid brother wrapped around her finger and expects him to be prepared to sacrifice his life for her. she dips at the first sign of something being too dangerous and it is implied her relationship with ui ui is beyond inappropriate. which character do you think gege wants us to sympathize with more?
we could also look at maki's story, hakari's story, kamo's story, junpei's story, etc. again and again gege shows us kids being mistreated and fucked up because of adults' ambitions. it literally could not be more clear what the dynamic is for the sukuna and megumi storyline and if i have to see one more "teehee it's cute that sukuna only cares about megumi they should totally smooch" meme on instagram i will lose my god damn mind.
this is exactly what i think of when i see those takes about actually looking at a story for what it's trying to say and how it presents itself and not just divorcing the characters from it entirely so you can decide who's the most shippable.

dragon ball for the fandom asks :D
WoAh I somehow didn't actually expect to get any of these?? Thank you! OK here goes;
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)
Tumblr media
gonku 👁️💋👁️. Not just because he Sparks Joy (though he does) but because his character is genuinely very multi-faceted and really interesting in a lot of ways that don't really seem obvious until you deep dive into the veritable hell that is Overthinking Dragonball Lore™️. I love that he's such a legend and a hero but also very very much Just Some Guy. But he's also NOT a complete moron and just. I could go on about him all day. No thoughts only Goku supremacy.
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)
Tumblr media
OK this could be so many characters honestly, the way Toriyama draws kids is ILLEGALLY cute with their round little designs. I go absolutely feral over any picture of tiny Goku, but since I don't want to put him twice; Gohan. ALSO an insanely complicated character with a bonus of some crazy trauma but that's not what this category is about SO. Anyway I want to pick him up and squeeze him.
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
Tumblr media
I've done all three members of the Son family now sjdjd but seriously. Chichi is amazing and anyone who says anything bad about her owes me money. She's not perfect and has flaws in the same way nearly ALL the characters do (where it's mostly played for laughs until it Isn't) and she gets SO much unnecessary flack for it that other characters don't. Respect her or leave my sight 😤
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
Tumblr media
🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗💕💕💕 omg hiiii hi there 17 hiii. What is there to say really. hi for the love of god HELLO
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)
Tumblr media
look listen it doesn't get much more problematic than this. but in my defense i don't like frieza in an "omg scrungly 🥺 i want him 2 be redeemed" way. I just think he's funny and adrogynous and so so good at being a major bitch and i like watching him fuck as much shit up as possibly everytime he's on screen.
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
Tumblr media
i have no specific beef with vegeta in cannon and in fact i think he's kind of funny and kind of interesting (sometimes) but speaking purely as a mascot for his fans well. I would put him in the toilet. vegeta gets stanned by THE most annoying people on the planet to THE most rabid degree where no one can even point out the obvious flaws about him without fearing for their lives ALSO his schtick got kind of old after awhile. You are NOT goku's bestie you will NEVER be krillin grow up and get a hobby that isnt pretending you dont love your wife so you can continue to collect your Evil Severence Package or whatever.
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell)
Tumblr media
look i can accept *checks notes* mass genocide and space racism but i draw the line at unfunny gross sexual harassment of minors. Die forever.

Why Jaime Lannister's GoT Ending Was Actually Bad
youtube
Nearly every aspect of the end of Game of Thrones earned ire from the majority of the show and book fandom, but one aspect of the show's conclusion that seems to have frustrated fans across the board was the ending for Jaime Lannister. More specifically, that after a seemingly solid and nearly complete redemption arc, he returned to Cersei and King's Landing to die in a manner that somewhat works as a metaphor but didn't resonate well with the audience at all. And, while Jaime's ending was a flop, it didn't fail for the reasons that many viewers seem to think that it did.
The Lannisters are obviously some of the most complex and important characters in A Song of Ice and Fire, but one of the most interesting aspects of their family dynamic is that it was established far before the contemporary storyline actually began. And, while Game of Thrones seemed to paint it as if Cersei was a source of toxicity that Tyrion and Jaime couldn't get out from under the thumb of, the truth is that the bad apple that spoiled the bunch was never Cersei, it was always Tywin.
One of the most meaningful and important themes of George RR Martin's work is the long-term effects that abuse has on children, and there isn't really any example that is more present and potent than the horrific effects that Tywin's abuse had on all of his children, and how it affected them in different ways.
Jaime, Cersei, and Tyrion all have some of the most intriguing points of view in the entire story. And one aspect that all of their POVs seem to share in common is that while nearly everyone in their world perceives them as a villain, they all see themselves as victims. And the truth is, both sides of this coin are correct.
Yes, the Lannister children have done many horrific, irredeemable things in their lives, but they have also been the victims of extremely traumatic abuse that understandably altered their outlook on the world and on themselves in general. There is a balance between victim and perpetrator that needs to be struck with their characters, but one of Game of Thrones' bigger flaws was its inability to do that.
Unsurprisingly, nearly every character's book point of view grants themselves more sympathy than they should. Almost everyone sees themselves as a better person than they are or is capable of rationalizing away their bad deeds and focusing on their more positive decisions and personality traits. But this is of course one of the many ways in which George RR Martin utilizes his POV traps.
Translating a story that is told through the eyes of the characters themselves and filming it from a more objective third-person perspective means that plenty of important information is going to be lost in that translation. But one of the fatal flaws when it comes to the Lannisters is that, while Game of Thrones does still present Cersei as pretty forthrightly villainous, the narrative pretty drastically whitewashes Tyrion and Jaime. Essentially, it seems to take Tyrion and Jaime at their point-of-view word and treats them like they're much better people than they truly are. Thus, Jaime's ignominious end with the supposed biggest baddie of them all feels like a betrayal of his character development when it really shouldn't be.
Every character needs to be held responsible for their own choices, but the downfall of House Lannister really does rest in the hands of Tywin, and Game of Thrones ignoring that fact did a disservice to every one of the Lannister children in one way or another.
Yes, out of all of the Lannisters, Jaime was as close as Tywin could get to the golden child of his dreams, but it's easy to overlook that while Jaime may have been the favorite on the surface, every single one of Tywin's children was disgustingly mistreated, and the effects of his abuse all showed themselves in different malignant ways.
While Jaime may have gotten preferential treatment over his siblings, Tywin was never anything other than a terrible parent, and more importantly, Jaime's superior treatment only told him exactly how he could expect to be treated if he ever failed to live up to his father's high ideals. And of course, in many big and small ways, he did ultimately fail to live up to Tywin Lannister's exacting standards.
Tywin was a terrible parent because he was an abuser, but he also raised his children with his own values of pride, entitlement, and superiority. Obviously, the notion that they were simultaneously failures who had earned their own mistreatment but were also Lannisters who deserved to be above everyone else is opposing perspectives that are in constant conflict with one another, but it also seems to be how Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion see themselves as constant victims while still perennially victimizing others.
George RR Martin has repeatedly discussed that one of the strongest themes of his work is the idea of the human heart in conflict with itself. Game of Thrones lost the plot with this in nearly every character adaptation, but Jaime's was one of the worst, largely because he is a character who has done some of the most monstrous and most heroic things in the story. He is both the man who doesn't hesitate to murder a child and the man who stopped a king from slaughtering thousands, and therefore his inner conflict is extremely vital.
Jaime's character arc in Game of Thrones follows a classic redemption arc almost perfectly, but that clearly doesn't seem to be the intent behind the character in the books. Yes, there is a part of Jaime that wants to be redeemed, but he does often revert back to his more brutal and nihilistic side, and his desire for so-called redemption seems to be driven more by how he wants the world to see him rather than how he wants to be.
And in that sense, the show did him a great disservice. Because there are many ways in which Jaime hasn't healed from Tywin's abuse, but the fact that he still seeks the approval of others in a rather superficial manner rather than developing a deeper understanding of true honor and justice is one of the clearest indications that, while Jaime does want to get out of the path that his father laid out for him, he is still crippled by what Tywin told him being a Lannister meant. And ironically, Tywin's belief about what being a Lannister means has essentially trapped all of his children into trying and failing to live up to that example simply because they can't survive unless they do.
Because ultimately, it's not necessarily just about what Jaime, or Cersei, or Tyrion wants. At some point, every single one of them has made obvious indications that they don't want to be a part of the legacy that Tywin Lannister laid out for them. But, when Game of Thrones presented Tywin as a super-intelligent master strategist instead of a completely unnecessarily violent and aggressive asshole, it made all of the Lannister children's choices harder to understand.
Both in the A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones fandoms, Tywin is typically put up on a pedestal, and that's completely baffling. Many viewers and readers perceive him to be brilliant and badass, but everything that Tywin is famous for actually makes him seem like a complete moron upon further contemplation. Winning battles by absolutely obliterating your enemies is a terrible precedent to set for many reasons, but one of the biggest is that it essentially requires all of the Lannister children to maintain this scorched earth policy because Tywin's hyper-aggressive superiority complex has put them in a position where they almost always have to choose to kill or be killed.
And, his cruel and dishonorable behavior as well as Jaime's reputation as the Kingslayer essentially guarantees that even if Jaime completely changes as a person and becomes the hero he wants to be, he really can't ever become that in the society that he lives in simply because the stigma around the Lannisters is something he can't escape.
That is one of the great tragedies that Game of Thrones failed to articulate, and that is one of the biggest reasons why Jaime's character conclusion was so off-putting to the audience. Because the audience saw the result of where this character arc would naturally go, but the story never actually took the steps to get there. In fact, the show went out of its way to erase a lot of the obvious building blocks that are leading up to both Cersei and Jaime's demise that makes it clear that, while they're obviously responsible for their own choices and actions, the groundwork that Tywin's abuse and cruelty laid and set in stone was something that they couldn't control, prevent, or undo.
Game of Thrones largely presented Jaime's characterization with the implication that if he could only escape Cersei, he would be a good man. But the reality was, if only Tywin hadn't been his father, then all of his siblings would have been better people. They may not have been good, but they almost certainly wouldn't be the kingdom-destroying villains that they became.
I also think the TV series likely bungled his character in that his story is meant to be a subversion of the classic redemption arc rather than the straightforward bad guy to good guy story that Game of Thrones told. George RR Martin obviously doesn't like flawless characters, and nearly every person in A Song of Ice and Fire does good things and bad things all the time, they never go in a straight line from point A to point B. So, of course it was going to be incredibly jarring when the show did move Jaime in a straight line from point A to point B and then abruptly gave him an ending that is probably somewhat similar to his end in the books.
But with that in mind, for all of the faults in Game of Thrones and the way they handled Jaime's character arc, I don't really understand the idea that his character was ruined by his ending either. These characters are clearly designed to never be just one thing, and if Jaime killing King Aerys or trying to kill Bran doesn't singularly define his character, then going back to Cersei in the very end shouldn't either.

The Mandates
Just wanted to share my thoughts on the pro-ported mandates because they cast a shadow on this comic.
“Game characters cannot have relatives unless they were estabilished in the game canon, i.e. Cream and her mother.”
This one is understandable and you can blame Penders for this. Mind you that most licensed comics of gaming franchises don’t actually delve too much in personal family relationships or expand on them. So this is expected and honestly Sega should have put the screws on Archie decades ago about this.
“Game characters can not die. There are workarounds for this, such as being Mistaken for Dying or "Mistaken For Dead”
Again. Yes. Not a big deal.
“Game characters cannot have wardrobe changes unless approved. Chao Races and Badnik Bases has some characters (mainly the female game characters) wear different clothes for extreme conditions. Male characters remain the same.”
This is a useless rule but whatever. I mean Sega, you are the ones putting bad wardrobe choices on the characters so again it’s whatever.
“Sonic can't be shown getting too emotional (i.e;cry)”
This is one that it complained about because it really wouldn’t matter unless it is called attention to. A lot of superheroes don’t cry. But that doesn’t prohibit them from expressing themselves. IDW Sonic has been sad. He has been pissed. He has been furious.
Tumblr media
Is this not too emotional?
Tumblr media
Is he not expressing himself appropriately?
I don’t even know why this is brought up. When in this comic has Sonic not been expressive or displaying the appropriate amount of emotion? When did Sonic needing to cry be necessary?
“Game characters cannot enter in a relationship.”
Oh GOD YES. Don’t threaten me with a good time.
“All major Character Development must be approved by SEGA.”
Yeah, of course. Let me remind you that Penders and Archie ruined any strand of trust Sega could have in comic media. They played loose at first and all of the sudden, they are involved in a lawsuit about characters in a Sonic comic that they didn’t even know about. They probably lost a video game business relationship because of it. If they want to be involved in the comics, fine. That means that they are now forced to World Build. They have to invest in it now and not just be like Lucas Films and let anybody do anything with their flagship title.
“Much like the post-reboot of the Archie comic, the words "Mobius" is banned—the planet is simply called "Sonic's World". Unlike the Post-Boot, which allowed the names "Mobian" and "Mobini", anything related to Mobius is banned in this comic.”
…Of course but how about you throw the writer’s a bone and I don’t know, name the fucking planet. If it is not Earth, give it a name.
“Sonic must always win at the end. Even if he and his friends are at the losing end in an overarching story (the Metal Virus arc, for example), they must come out on top when it concludes.”
I don’t even get this rule and the knee jerk hatred for it. Why even have it? Why even share the existence of this rule? Archie Sonic didn’t really lose too bad. It’s more on how you frame a victory. The fact of the matter is that Eggman is still actively trying to conquer the planet. Sonic stops him but Eggman still has control of land and has military installations all over.
This rule is offset by this. While Sonic can’t lose, Sonic can’t completely win.
“Characters and material from other licensed properties (Sonic the Comic, Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics), Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM)', Sonic Underground, the OVA, Sonic X and the Paramount films cannot be used. This rule extends to characters and redesigns done by the current writers. The only exception is Sticks from Sonic Boom, and that's because she was created by SEGA themselves and showed up in non-Boom media, but any ideas regarding her use still need to be okayed by SEGA.”
First off I am glad that Sticks was spared by this rule and I look forward to her eventual inclusion. Second, again, this is not much of a big deal as it was expected. Sorry Freedom Fighter fans but honestly deal.
“Male characters, sans Eggman, can't wear pants, which was also a thing in the Post-Reboot, albeit never explicitly stated. The inverse is also true; female characters have to have some form of lower clothing.”
Okay this is a pedantic rule. It is so weird with how precise it is. Like…huh?
“Classic characters such as Mighty, Ray, Nack/Fang, Bean, and Bark won't appear in non-Classic issues, as Sega doesn't want Classic and Modern Sonic to mix.”
One of the most bullshit mandates fueled by the nostalgia boner fans created. Like this is stupid because Archie Modern Sonic has added more character and depth to all of these mentioned characters than any of the Sega Sonic games they appeared in which only amounts to 1 or 2 at most. Why neuter your own potential stories with this stupid limitation?
“According to Ian Flynn, a specific incident involving Shadow's characterization when he's exposed to the Zombot infection was written in a specific way because of Sega mandating that he be written as an "overconfident asshole rival" character, similar to Vegeta. He later followed up with an explanation that out of every character, Shadow has the most mandates and notes attached to how he's portrayed. According to the podcast, Sega says that Team Dark is no longer a thing. The three members are not a team and they have never worked for G.U.N.; Shadow also doesn't even consider them friends.”
This is my opinion is the worst rule. First it’s contradictory to the character Sega introduced us to. Stop trying to be like Dragon Ball for once and actually be your own thing. It’s one thing if we are changing it because Shadow was unpopular because of his personality. But no one likes this Shadow. People miss the somber but reserved Hedgehog that continued to fight in spite of the world betraying him. Hothead Shadow is a cheap Knuckles. And I don’t even understand why Shadow even has so many mandates when he wasn’t the most egregious offender. Knuckles was.
Also, Team Dark aren’t a thing and Shadow doesn’t even consider them to be his friends. First off that doesn’t even fly in your own games. Who outside of Sonic does Shadow interact the most? Rouge. They have teamed up and were a packaged duo since their inception. When Shadow appeared, Rouge appeared right next to him. If Rouge was in a game, so was Shadow.
Team Dark or just Rouge has fought alongside Shadow in every game they appeared in. Who else does Shadow talk to if not Rouge?
“Sega has stated to Flynn that only male hedgehogs are allowed to go Super with the Chaos Emeralds.”
Except in Sonic Mania.
“Ian isn't allowed to directly reference a game, since the comic is supposed to be its own thing.”
Okay. Not only is this rule stupid. But it’s untrue.
Tumblr media
This references the end of Sonic Forces.
The first page of comic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has referenced Sonic Adventure, SA2, Sonic Generations , and Sonic Unleashed.
Tumblr media
This referencing Shadow the Hedgehog.
I don’t believe this rule exists and even if it did, it is dumbest rule since the whole point of this comic is to base it off the games more. The dumbest rule.
“Knuckles is not allowed to leave Angel Island unless he has a very good reason to.”
For decades, people have complained that Knuckles routinely leaves the island. For decades. Now does this mean Sega is going to 1. Use Knuckles and 2. Amplify the importance of Angel Island and the Master Emerald? No. Again, this criticism should be levied at Sega because they often conveniently forget Knuckles purpose and just hand wave it instead of giving Knuckles more to do on the island like I don’t know, have other entities invested in attacking him.
In summary, here is what I think is going on. Do I think most of these mandates are real? Yes. Given what happened to Archie, I do think Sega is doing some brand alignment. I think they got the clamps on.
But what I think is going on is a Japanese cultural thing called Power Harassment. It is normalized abuse of power. Sega of Japan is normally laxxed about their brands. They don’t mind blatant rip-offs of their mascot nor do they get stiff about fandom creations or mods. The comic division, however, is getting tough love because not only did it cost them a publishing deal, but ruined a relationship with a high end developer. So the IDW writers and staff are being subjected to intentionally hypocritical rules and strict mandates that they know don’t make sense until they’ve shown to be obedient.
A lot of the mandates aren’t strict. But some are so asinine that I don’t think they aren’t aware with how stupid they sound imposing those rules. Like Shadow is the most narratively complete Sonic character and yet, Sega puts this tight mandate as if Archie Shadow was the most egregious thing. Archie Shadow was overpowered. He wasn’t out of character like Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails were. They can’t be that stupid or be that intentionally dense. So they want to see if the writing crew can follow orders. That’s it.
But that’s just my take.

dude same hat about dimitri and yuri. seeing dimitri-stans constantly treat claude like he's the stinky inferior lord for the sake of 'my route is better' or shipping discourse drove me batty, and the whole 'yuri is the better claude' takes cannot die sooner i've had enough😩🔪
especially when they say shit like 'yuri actually schemes unlike claude🙄' and like... yuri's epic gamer strategy in cindered shadows was to bank on byleth- who, mind you, they literally just met- just showing up. like what was yuri gonna do if byleth didn't pick up on his clues or decided 'hey fuck that guy actually i don't trust him :/'?? die???😂👌 but i'll throw him a bone... yuri does actually scheme in the main game. once. in his paralogue with constance which ends with her being Pissed at him lmfao
and i know VW has a tell don't show problem, but claude is still is the one to come up with the plan to invade fort merceus, still the one who kept the alliance out of a war they couldn't hope to win, still planned for the alliance to be taken care of in both AM/CF, these aren't nothing to sneeze at imo
but really, fandom wants to act like yuri and claude are interchangeable characters instead of appreciating them as separate characters with their own traits and motivations... that, and yuri-stans resented that claude didn't live up to his pre-release fanon of being a bisexual casanova that yuri fills oop🤷‍♂️
yeah, in general i find the "my route is better" discourse to be kind of frustrating (mainly because it always feels like it's the same two sides going at it while expecting everyone else to be their allies against their evil enemies the edelstans/dimitri stans), but i think it's the shipping discourse that i find especially aggravating. if i never see another "claude just f*cks off to almyra, not like dimitri, who is a perfect prince who ✨you✨ fixed and who always wants to be with ✨you✨" take it'll be too soon. i've seen very little yuri ship discourse comparing him specifically to claude, but i'm sure it's also obnoxious.
and as others have said—per the original japanese, claude isn't actually supposed to be a "schemer". he's a tactician who uses unconventional methods to accomplish what he wants. and honestly, yuri isn't even so much a schemer as he is just like...a chaotic good crime boss. he's clever and slippery, for sure, but scheming...? i mean i guess maybe the CS plan was meant to be a big scheme, but like you said, it kinda hinged on one major thing not going wrong.
(also calling yuri's CS plan an "epic gamer strategy" made me snicker, thank you 😂)

Social Media Anon Here!
Firstly, never change Grumpy ;) you are probably the only person on Tumblr to LISTEN to another view and let it change a prejudice.
Secondly, the Padagram/Social Media change bus continues. Don't be fooled people will be looking at positive and negative reactions to that change on social media.
So here goes!
1. They are starting to market season 2 of Walker in Hiatus. That really doesn't happen. That means they know they need to target new viewers. They are acknowledging they have a problem. The main problem is Jared either didn't learn enough about production quality on SPN (Jensen/Misha were both more interested in behind the camera's) or that he thought he could stick a Stetson on and we all had such sh1t for brains we'd watch anything. So they need a viewer boost DESPARATELY and are going all out to (a) persuade Walkers remaining viewer(s) that it's worth sticking around and (b) get back old viewers or convert 1m+ viewers to season 2. So now we see all the cast (and Keegan has more followers than Jared and Lindsay has a VERY engaged following) trying to persuade their followers how fabulous Walker is. Expect this scrabbling to continue if they want their COVID paychecks.
2. Connected to 1, Jared has started trying to break out of the fandom bubble. I don't think he's trying for power couple (the clue in a power couple is that two FAMOUS people get together and create a super brand, here we have one niche C famous guy and a hanger on wife), I think we are in Jared profile raising and trying to raise his recognition score, which is probably a little low having half assed it in the last year and a half. He's doing it by scatter-gunning so I'm not sure it's going to stick.
3. Connected to 2,
(i) if I run my algorithm clean laptop with a "Jared Padalecki" news search, I get (a) a daily mail article on Jared "clarifying the rift" (b) a "hello" magazine saying he's been "inundated with support after death of "family member"" (c) the new york times article on Walker and Supernatural. It then goes into a variety of articles about Jared raising money for Holly's family (fucking atrocious in my view to use her death for publicity) and a series of derivative articles on his mantrum and later explanation. ONLY THE NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE MENTIONS WALKER other than as a throw away, all of the others link to Supernatural only. Walker isn't on the main radar of anyone as a show. It's not mainstream enough to mention. it has ZERO buzz.
(ii) if I run the same search on my compromised tablet, I get a SEA of fluff articles "jared padalecki goes to venice", "jared padalecki's wife wishes him a happy birthday" "jared padalecki goes to watch soccer" "jared padalecki goes to the wrestling". I'm expecting "Jared Padalecki defecates regularly" tomorrow.
At the end of that I get the same articles as in (i) but the majority of his publicity is still going through the fandom and the, not very viewed, endless zine type websites that update on every episode of every geek show every day.
So we are seeing, and I expect it to continue, a break out Padalecki, (who knows he and his forehead may wish to have a final crack at films), and a fluff Padalecki, trying to stay relevant a year after SPN relevance ended, because he hasn't got the same push for season 2 of Walker as he had for season 1 and Walker has zero presence. No one, not even the fans are talking about Walker.
Will it work? I don't think so. Keegan has 7m followers on Insta and that's because he's a photographer and writer and it's interesting. I would follow his account (I don't), but certainly it isn't a Walker instagram.
Jared is a clever guy, but he's boring on social media. He has a limited appeal. He does family snaps, hunk snaps, flogs orange pee and flogs his show. He says "family" and "mantra" a lot but that's really it. The clue is, if you didn't know who he was and came across his instagram you wouldn't follow him. Why would you? For a video of a guy running up steps? A smug picture of two middle aged men trying to flog you something?... (oh and lots of "brother" comments on Keegan's social media, which is irritating. It's like he thinks that is his repeatable formula and it isn't).
His media approach won't work because advertising and exposure pushes a product. In TV's case, it's not a one off product and there is a lot of competition. Product Jared needs to be more interesting (his mantrum's are the only exciting thing about him - and that is tragic) and his TV show just needs to be BETTER, well, a LOT BETTER.
Soooo, expect the Padapush to continue, but it's not about a couple, it's about individual marketing and for Jared breaking out of SPN bubble. For Gen, it's her tag along profile that she'll never break out of. She'll have to be satisfied with her superpower of being able to persuade people to buy toothbrush's and dog food (if she can).
Expect though the couple's bit to die off a little. Jared is getting over exposed. His engagement rating is plummeting (nearly 3% is a plummet) because of the repetitive photo content. He'll have to back off or people will switch off (I have already). What makes me laugh is.... from the dawn of time when cavemen took their wives 2 miles away for a new cave weekend.... NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN INTERESTED IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HOLIDAY SNAPS.... Gen and Jared apparently need to learn that lesson...
I might stop these posts now because, well, it's gotta be a bit boring for you and I write LONG. :)
Stay safe and wear your masks ;) xxx
I don’t want you to ever ever change, lovely! Also, I’m NEVER bored by your messages! You put so much effort into the research you do and the messages you send and it’s appreciated! <3
I started following Lindsey on IG because she seems pretty genuine, and her cat is way too cute! Plus, I like her attitude. I haven’t followed her for the whole Walker season, but even she doesn’t post a lot about it. She posts interviews and then posts about that night’s episode, but other than that, nothing.  Can’t speak for Keegan, but how are fans and non-fans supposed to be excited about a show when the people STARRING in the show can’t be bothered? Maybe they’re all aware of how shitty it is or maybe they’re lazy, but it doesn’t make sense.
I’m always interested to see the difference in an “algorithm-free” setting and one that has an algorithm. I always figured Google was the same for everyone, but seeing the difference in articles you’ve outlined is insane. It really just goes to show that Jared isn’t the star that his stans think he is. He’s not as important as they think he is, he’s just an actor.  It’s even more jarring to see just how little Walker is talked about at all. All of my devices probably have been “contaminated” when it comes to algorithm so I can’t really speak personally about the public and fans talking about Walker or not talking about it. I can say that on the posts about Walker from the Supernatural Facebook page, a good chunk of the comments are people saying they stopped watching, never got into it, or thought it was trash. There are only a handful of comments talking about how they enjoy the show.
I think it was disgusting for him to use a fan’s passing for publicity. And no, I don’t think it was anything other than a PR stunt. Her family had a GFM going that was promoted by plenty of the case INCLUDING GEN, so you know he knew about it. But for him to make his own special one and then have articles posted everywhere about how charitable he is? That’s gross PR bullshit and I hope it backfires.
I still follow a few Supernatural fans, Jared fans, Jensen fans, etc. on Tumblr and even they aren’t mentioning it. I think maybe the hardcore Jared stans post gifsets or whatever, but I don’t see much praise for the show itself, just Jared’s looks. Even the fans aren’t biting and that would make me reevaluate everything if I was Jared.
I'm expecting "Jared Padalecki defecates regularly" tomorrow. This made me laugh way too hard!
who knows he and his forehead may wish to have a final crack at films You are on a ROLL!  Maybe I’ve become biased, but I can’t see Jared doing films. I mean, I could see him doing like a side character role or something small, but I can’t see him having a big part of a movie. Like I said, maybe that’s me being biased but I see him staying in TV. I could be proven wrong, but I don’t know.
I agree about Jared being boring on SM. I used to get some giggles from his Twitter posts and even some of his early IG posts because they were goofy, clever, and candid. It showed his humor and was more personable. Now it’s just all fake and comes off as someone whose only motivation to engage with fans is money and that’s a big turn off.
For me personally, I think that if instead of the “couple goals” bullshit that they try to push for their lavish trips, if they just posted cool pictures they took of different locations, activities, food or whatever, that would be more palatable than all the “Look at my hubster and I! We’re in Italy! Look at how in love we are!” But maybe that’s because I’ve become a bit of a photography nerd?
I guess time will tell whether or not Jared will make positive changes and if Walker can be saved, but I’m not really optimistic about it.
I AM optimistic about your takes on things so keep them coming! Long posts or not, I love them! <3

ok but honestly i don’t feel the same anxiety as like … basically the entire fandom? that “twp is the end & all my favs are gonna die” (if you get what i mean lol)
cause cc never really kills off her favourites important characters; i know it can seem far fetched to think that way but i genuinely don’t see her as the type of author who would do so
i’ve seen her pattern and it’s basically killing off the side characters [who are important to the mains] or for plot convenience. In the case she does kill off a main it’s never really major? E.g Livvy. Correct me if i’m wrong though. If anything it becomes a “Jem” situation where the death plot is changed into something less serious.
It’s a lot of rambling but my conclusion is there isn’t likely gonna be a “so everyone died hehe” moment in twp, like majority of the fandom thinks - we can’t expect the side characters to all come out untouched though
I made a post kinda relating to this a few months back 🤔
And same! At this point I hope CC kills off a main character (and they stay dead *cough cough* Jace and Jem *cough cough*)
There isn't a single important character who dies (George Lovelace is a different story, because not only was he not a Shadowhunter, he was a novella side character)
It's not like it's exactly a bad thing to not kill off characters, but you can't say there are high stakes and it dangerous if no one ever dies??
Also like the only one who died and was really "important" was Livvy, and we ended the next book with two of her so-
I hope the TMI mains die, it would be symbolic (even tho the only one really at risk is Simon bc she was originally going to kill him off (pls 😭))

The Untamed, episode 15 - watching notes
Here we go!💃🕺💃🕺
Wow, that was a cold open. So the Yao clan was attacked. I don't think there's any major character who's from that clan so far, right?
Clan leader Jiang is such a genuinely decent person, but still, I feel like all the clsn leaders (apart from the wen clan leader obviously) should have st least tried to come up with some kind of strategy. Especially, since it was only a matter of time until the wen clan attacked them
Oh no, please don't tell me that this is is how clan leader Jiang will die :(
Oh God, I'm genuinely tearing up at the image of jiang Cheng and wei Wuxian side by side, being instructed by their father/uncle. Just ugh ... I hate it when brothers turn against each other!
Shiiit, it's the petunia-lady
Wait, is she actually... nice? Is this her begrudging "i lost a sister" moment?
I have the definite feeling that the Jiang clan leader will die now, and I'm genuinely crying now :((
Oh wait, maybe that was a grave oversight of mine, but I never realised that the Wen Cksn needed Wen Qing formedical purposes specifically, since apparently, whatever dark form of cultivation the sect leader is practicing has a negative effect on his health!
It's kind of humanising to see Wen chao actually care for his father
Still a dick though
I miss lwj btw, he hasn't appeared since mid-last episode :(
Nice sneaky time laps! Just indicated by a "they've been away for 10 days"
Shiiiit! No! The wen clan is there 😳
Huh, is this going to be a fight between lady Yu and the ... wen lady whose name I forgot? I mean, I dislike them both, but I'm still intrigued :D
This while scene is just wild. The dialogue is amazing! Exactly the kind of deceptive accusations you would expect from a skilled manipulator.
Also l, it's strange to suddenly root for madam Yu
Okay, I take it back
Don't you fcking dare touch Wei Ying!!!
Jiang Cheng!!! 😭
This is going to be one of those story lines, isn't it? It's just pain from here on
Shitshitshitshit
I couldn't type during half of this because I didn't want to stop the stream but just FCK I know where this is going
He's going to sacrifice his hand right? And it's STILL not going to be enough for this woman. Why do I have a feeling that it has always been like this. Little Wei Wuxian, as a child, getting punished by her and thinking that maybe, it might be enough some day. But no, it isn't. She resents him for his very existence, so nothing he does and no punishment will ever be enough. And so he commits to it. If all she sees him is a nuisance and a troublemaker, than troublemaker he'll be. (Maybe I'm wildly off the mark here, but this thought just punched me in the gut and I needed to share)
"If I can bring peace back, one hand is worthwhile"
Tumblr media
What? Supervisory office?
Okay, so madam Yu just values her own skin and prodebefore anything else. That's not a nice characteristic, but ar least its predictable
It's interesting how she still says "we yu clan". Honestly, as much as I don't like her, she's getting more and more fascinating
Hooooly shiiiiit
Tumblr media
her maids are something else
"Purple spider"? Now that's a fitting title
Now, that's one fight scene! I'm fascinated! I love that there aren't any swords involved for a change and while, sometimes, slowmotion in fight scenes can be overdone, that's definitely not the case here
Every time Madam Yu talks to wei Wuxian I just want to take him in my arms and hold him forever
Again  I couldn't type for a while... I have tears streaming down my face right now
It's just so GODDAMN UNFAIR!
The fact that she can't get over her goddamn hurt ego and see that wwx is just a lost, hurt child without a parent to call his own and that he loves his brother and would never subvert him. How spiteful and bitter can someone be? And I KNOW, this scene showed that she has her reasons and that, in her selfish way, she loves her son, but shit, the way she first cradled Jiang Cheng and then put down Wei Wuxian even further broke my heart in so many ways ... I'm honestly not okay
And I know, i just KNOW that JC's and wwx's falling pit will tear my heart to pieces, now! I already sobbed right now! How will I survive??
Also, all the awards to wwx's and jiang Cheng's actors!!!
.... breath sophie ...
I'm pressing play again
Ahhhrrggg!!!
It's not getting any better 😭😭😭😭
You don't understand, the episode is over and I'm genuinely sobbing!!!
This dysfunctional, (mostly) loving family full of idiots got me HARD!!!
And that goodbye!!! 😭
And just .... again (while clan leader Jiang was gentler than his wife), ALL he had to say to wei Wuxian was "watch out for Cheng and Li"!!! No "don't cry" like with his children. CAN SOMEONE JUST TELL THIS CHILD THAT HE IS LOVED JUST FOR HIMSELF, UNCONDITIONALLY!
Please.
Seriously, get your shit together Lan Zhan!
What is this show doing to me? I'm not okay 😭😭😭
@sweetlittlevampire @fandom-glazed @elenirlachlagos @allhailthedramallama @luckymoony (I'm blaming some of you personally for my suffering, btw!)
