something that really bugs me about art history is when it says 'ok and THIS GUY was the VERY FIRST to do this thing isn't that cool! so original of him!' and the thing is like, painting people naturally, or non-representational colours. like.... are you really sure No One At All tried this before? you really think that between the decline of rome and ~1290 no one ever tried to draw a realistic portrait of someone? Ever??

'they didn't know how because their art was PRIMITIVE' like ohhh okay we're using that word are we. a) medieval art isn't lesser for not being as technically good and b) that wasn't as important to them and c) ...life drawing exists. if people could do really detailed and accurate paintings & miniatures of plants and insects then surely they could do people too that can't be that much of a step. like surely there wasnt a seven hundred year period where no one tried. in the whole world. right?? surely someone got their friend to sit still in front of them as they tried to capture their likeness???

especially when realistic sculpture portraits were being made this whole time? and when more naturalistic roman portraits were still there?? you really think it took people six hundred years to try that out?

and the same with nearing abstraction as well 'g*uguin was the first person to put the realm of the imagination in art' IN THE 1880S. WHAT. IMAGINATION. in ART. have you never seen a kid draw?? or like.. anyone draw anything from their mind??? what about all those people painting dragons and angels and miracles and here be monsters? 'non representational colours were new and shocking!' ok that gets a bit of a pass for most of it but like... you really think people spent all of impressionism painting things The Exact Colour They Were? like surely someone thought of that before?? surely there was someone somewhere who did a bit of art for fun who painted, i dunno, a purple tree for fun?

and abstraction as well - you think no one before that ever was just messing around on a page and put some really nice colours together and decided that looked nice as it was??

idk i just get annoyed when people look at art in such a defined and solid way that seems to almost being enforcing limits on creativity by saying that only a few people were even doing new and interesting things. like probably a lot of this stuff did happen and we don't have it anymore but. yeah

i remember once seeing an ad for scar reducing creams and ended up deciding no that's not reasonable to buy if it's literally self inflicted. but because of this now being in a visible place (can probably hide until summer, but after it's too warm to wear long sleeves... oh gosh. :< ) I feel like I probably should do research on how to minimise scarring at least for visible cuts for the sake of others.

and maybe invest in a nice light summer cardigan :) you know those pretty lacy ones, I bet I could pull that off, and I've wanted one for ages so this might be my motivation :)

I've read someone's theory that Barnabas could have created Sleipnir using the soul/aether of someone he's killed before and absorbed their aether (which he seems to be doing with the akashic at the top of the tower in Ash. maybe. idk man), and that is why Sleipnir is the only egi that appears and acts so human. Or that due to his closeness with Ultima he received the power of creation, or some form of it, and was thus capable of giving form to an egi that could develop beyond egis like Chirada and Suparna.

of course, you're hoping this year's afterparty will be a little less eventful -- not that you're mad at how last year's ended.

you, carmy, syd, richie, natalie, marcus, tina, and ebra are all gathered for an interview, answering questions about taking home the big win for the restaurant.

"last year chef sydney took home the rising star award, and this year it's best restaurant great lakes. how does it feel?" the interviewer, a well known and james beard-award winner herself, sophia roe asks as her cameraman follows closely behind.

"yeah, it's uh, wow. it's a huge accomplishment and we cannot be more honored to be taking this win home," sydney answers with a grin stretched far across her face.

it's surreal, for all of you, really.

"mixed reviews from the restaurant staff?" sophia asks curiously.

"it's just-, that's my brother!" natalie is quick to chime in, defending sydney.

We will be making Stuffed Cabbage from Lord of the Rings Online today!

SO, “what goes in to this Stuffed Cabbage?” YOU MIGHT ASKYou cant kinda put whatever you want for seasonings and even the meat filling. I used ground beef but pork and lamb are also stellar candidates.

Yellow onion

Garlic

2 eggs

Ground beef

Rice

A head of cabbage

Oregano

Thyme

Red pepper flakes

Cumin

Crushed tomato

Tomato sauce

2 rolls filled me up for a meal and i made about 20-ish from one head of cabage

A bit plain tbh, the texture is great but I'd really double up on the seasonings

A blank canvas for you to impart your spice preferences onto

Reheating makes it taste almost identical to fresh

Would pair well with a hot sauce dip

could also go well with an artichoke dip

If you run out of room and need to layer the rolls, I'd try experimenting with pouring some of the crushed tomato and sauce inbetween the stacked rolls. Otherwise the ones at the bottom lack a lot of the tomato flavor. However it might make the bottoms on the rolls laying ontop soggy?

I've never blanched anything before. Theres not much western food that calls for it, meanwhile whenever my friend from malaysia shows a dish they ate, 9 times out of 10 the vegetables are blanched. Much easier process than the fancy name might suggest- boil water and dunk the thing in until its done. Whatever 'done' may be for the thing you are cooking.

Also for the ground beef (or whichever meat you use) you don't have to cook it beforehand, but in doing two tries at making these cabbage rolls i would recommend you at least season your meat before mixing it with everything else. The meat will cook to a safe temperature inside the cabbage rolls, i just prefer the taste and texture of it when cooked twice.

I give this recipe a meandering 7/10 (with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.) I want to review more horrible recipes, truly i do, so that the rating scale isnt always a 6 and above, but whenever i try something horrible its like "why the fuck would i put all the effort into making and sharing a review of this thing i Do Not Want others to eat????" yknow?? Would people be interested in roasting horrible recipes? 

🐁 ORIGINAL RESIPPY TEXT BELOW 🐁

Ingredients:

1 yellow onion

6 cloves of garlic

2 eggs

2 lbs ground beef

1 1/2 cup cooked rice

1 large head of cabbage

28oz crushed tomato

14oz tomato sauce

Oregano

Thyme

Red pepper flakes

Cumin

Salt/pepper

Method:

Saute garlic and onion in butter over medium heat until onions are caramelized. When done, remove from heat and let cool.

Season the beef to your liking with cumin, red pepper, and salt. Very, very lightly cook the beef in the same pan used for the garlic and onions. Cook until it starts to brown, but dont let it darken. 

Beat eggs thoroughly with oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper.

Add all of the above ingredients together in a bowl with (cooked!) rice. Mix thoroughly then cover and let rest in the fridge.

Core and blanche your cabbage in boiling water, peeling them off as they become limp.

Once you've separated all the leaves, cut off any thick stems that would prevent the leaf from folding.

Put roughly 2 tablespoons of meat filling into each leaf. Fold the sides of the leaf inwards and roll it up. Place each cabbage roll seam-down into a casserole dish.

If they don't all fit in one layer, its more than okay to stack. Try not to stack more than 2 layers though.

Once you've used all the cabbage, take your can of tomatos and pour them over the rolls. Mix some oregano into the tomato sauce and pour that over the rolls as well.

Bake uncovered in the oven at 350 for about 2 hours. Dont worry if a bit of tomato on top looks burnt.

IF REHEATING LEFTOVERS: Bake 10 cabbage rolls in the oven at 320 for about 40 minutes. Reduce time for less rolls.

i tend to draw on-model canon because im a coward + just personal preferences. but the way i convert the canon designs into my artstyle is that i take the distinct features oda gives them and then combine it with personal headcanons to complete what should look like a unique human. Starting with Trafalgar Law, who is unfortunately a bland-ass conventionally pretty boy

someone commented a while ago the law hat drawing tutorial i made a while ago didn't make much sense and i realize its bc of the specific way i draw law's face: heart shaped (ba-dum-tss). That meaning, a narrow chin widening into a mild defined jaw, wide cheekbones, and up to his know-it-all brain dome.

given that, the pudgy guitar pick shape of his head i mentioned here should make a lot more sense.

i don't think this design point is unique to me, as most conventional pretty anime boy gets given jaws like this. a lot of law artists tend to veer into this head shape. just how life be sometimes. other points: flat, thick eyebrows is bc im a hairy gal and i need to feel better about myself.

Killer gets to be more interesting, because he shouldn't be considered conventionally attractive. my idea behind killer's is that those individual features is smth he would be insecure with enough to hide himself in a helmet but i draw him with all the love in the world actually. i'd like to think its how kid sees him or yknow, law, bc he's my kin assigned blorbo and maybe you ship lawkill as a guilty pleasure too i mentioned before (and ruined people's days) when i said whenever i draw killer he looks like griffith before i put on his goatee. the upper half of his face is distinctly feminine, with the lower half kinda over compensating. other than that uhh...idk. stan killer

Kidd is the bane of my existence, i feel like i can never draw his face consistently. yet at the same time he's so damn fun to draw everyone gotta try it.

my problem with kidd is that this mf does have eyelids. most kidd painters out there interpret this as him having deep set eyes (think Matt Smith or jeffrey star) . and yeh skill issue on me i should practice that. other notes, i try to make him younger than canon makes him look. he is my babygirl and he deserves to look cuddly. my band au kidd version has the honor of being allowed some chubs. he's just tries to look older and more menacing with edgy makeup. also i try to give him dimples when i can because, well i can.

Rosinante last bc i lost steam after kidd. the thing abt cora is that aside from not having eyebrows, everything is structured with the generic one piece man template. which means i gotta do everything myself doffy is there bc the way to figure out how to draw these two is to give them minor differences from each other, that being doffy gets slightly sharper features. in canon, these two are also rly wide boys (more of an oda style feat tbh) but i make them long. though bigger brained donquixote artists know that of these two brothers, doffy should be the wiry-er built. anyway that's it. in conclusion, i need to draw more girls actually i feel like im becoming misogynistic by osmosis from oda's style and now i draw girls all looking the same too.

So how do I (you, the buyer) choose what I want?

SO when you open up the request form it should look something like this!

We're using the bust order as our example here. At its base price, $15, it is set for the black and white option. If this is what you would like, then you don't have to worry about the add ons at all and you go straight to submitting your request! Now, if you're choosing add ons, it'll look something like these:

The first would be an example of an order of a flat color bust + an extra character bust with flat coloring as well. The color option adds the extra $10 (to match the listed price on the poster for $25), and the extra character with flat coloring adds half of that $25 to the order (well a little less bc i knocked off the .50 cents) which is why it comes out to $37.

The second would be an example of a black and white bust order with an added black and white bust character. This just adds an extra $7 to the price totaling $22.

I'm also comfortable drawing blood and gore though I'll have to keep it on the lighter side (I enjoy blood if it isnt obvious by my url though so depending on what you want we might be able to go a little further with that).

I can do characters with armor as well, however I will require a reference of some sort from you, the client, as I'm frankly not going to attempt armor off the dome. I won't design armor myself either.

Pinups (not full nsfw due to how much of a struggle it is to navigate different site policies) and other suggestive works are also a-ok! a tity does not bother me if that wasn't made clear by my commission card 👍🏽

Im not comfortable trying to draw real people as of right now sorry! I'd hate to mess that up and have somebody clown me for messing up their beloved's features so that is off the table right now but it's subject to change.

I also won't do furry/anthro just because that isn't my forte as I haven't practiced drawing animalistic characters. There r plenty of talented furry artists for you to choose from and I could talk to someone to guide you to a few

(I can do more humanoid fantasy characters however. like mermaids, satyrs, etc)

More extreme gore and body horror is also off the table.

I may love mecha but as it is like armor and a bit more extreme, I'm not drawing it sorry. And also as stated above I'm not drawing armor regardless without a good reference.

Certain fandoms are a no-go for me due to my own comfort. A quick list would be: mogeko games, omori, south park, hetalia, attack on titan, mcyt, hazbin hotel/helluva boss. if you're not sure just ask!

I reserve the right to decline any comission request for any reason. Getting paid is nice but my comfort is nicer yknow.

I think it's absolutely fucking funny to see how bad Valentino is with anything that doesn't involve sex or drinking, I'm confident this man doesn't even know how to do laundry nor do the dishes (he has hired maids/cleaners for that) BUT I feel that once he learns, he's actually useful as fuck because he has four hands (train him by using sex as rewards)

I can imagine Velvette taking over most of the interior design of the house, you know those people that change their living room colors every week? Yeah, that's her. I can also see her still doing fashion but on a much smaller scale, maybe even doing embroidery to kill time.

Also being their sugar daddy/mommy hello???? Remember my past ask about the Vees having a dom who's more powerful than them, yeah that shit fits here like a puzzle.

- At events, they get jealous for whole different reasons. It was one thing to have others flirt with you when they were powerful, cause then, they CAN ACTUALLY DO some SERIOUS damage. Now? You're their ONLY source of comfort/money/things/etc.

- Rewarding them for good behavior hits different too cause now it bleeds to their everyday life. Velvette sewn a few shirts that are a bit worn? You get her that new silk dress that she's being on her ig account. Valentino actually behaving for once? You rail him fast and hard, just how he likes it.

Dude I just love your stuff I can't put it to words properly. It's just... So good, I wish you could just change a couple of names an make this your own story. It's that good. I'd buy physical copies of both this hypothetical story and in blood we rise. Evelyn knows what she's doing and Caleb doesn't mind one bit. Anyway I'm rambling, don't forget to get some rest.

Man, the amount of times I've thought..

Like, legitimately. I've got some redesign ideas and concepts that could help part it from the source material enough that you wouldn't be able to connect the two. And make it its original thing.

I mean.. tbf it is pretty much original anyway, as far as characters go. I made these ideas out of.. basically Calebs inconsistent character design alone? Evelyn doesn't even have a design in TOH, she's always hidden. We don't know their personalities either, or their abilities, or the nature of their relationship dynamics. I've made that stuff up. (;;;T o T)

That aside, I have IBWR, which is already my own original story. But I think it makes itself best as a comic. And not a novel or movie.

It'd be fun to try write something that was supposed to be a 2D animated feature film. And the limitations that would give me to work with. Yknow, just as a non-serious thing, just a practice thing.

I love storytelling, and I love all the different mediums to tell a story in. Unlike a comic, a movie has limited time to tell a concise complete story. Hence why characters often fall in-love so quickly in Disney movies, for example. And it would be fun to experiment and explore that medium.

IT WOULD BE FUN, WOULDN’T IT?

And I like fun.
