ind*a’s h*nduv*ta issue needs to be addressed globally bc they essentially want to do the same thing isr*el is doing to non-hindu indians. They’re also one of isr*el’s biggest supporters + isr*el funds the indian occupation in kashmir. B*p and m*di are garbage and I pray for their downfall everyday. Considering the history of 🇮🇳 , being in favor for genocide should be anti-indian but they hate muslims so much that they don’t care. But when I talk about it some yt saviour on here wants to tell me, a DESI- not just south asian, a DESI person, that im ‘racist’ for calling majority of them garbage lmfao.

Supreme Council of Ethnic Hellenes aka YSEE
An organization I avoid in my practice heres why.
YSEE claims to be the foremost organization for the Ancient Hellenic Religion
After 21 years (1997-2018) of continuous presence in the contemporary Greek society, with over 350 civic actions like protests or press releases, over 800 lectures, commemorations of ancient national historical events, public religious ceremonies, and many educational events, the Supreme Council of Ethnic Hellenes (YSEE) is the formal legal entity representing the historically continuous and since 2017 “legally known” Hellenic Ethnic Religion. The Supreme Council of Ethnic Hellenes has two chapters outside Greece, one in the United States since 2007 and one in Cyprus since 2014, and seeks to establish more in any country that has active Hellenic Ethnic presence.
YSEE is Greek and nothing but Greek to an unwelcoming and ahistorical fault. Based on their own words they expanded solely for the Greek diaspora. I would feel more welcomed in a Greek Orthodox Church, which are extremely diaspora centered, than a YSEE ritual ….. and I’m ethnically Greek. I just happen to be adopted therefore I am not “Hellene from Hellene," I don't have the necessary blood.
They are very focused on it being an ancestral ethnic religion, which it is to an extent. But YSEE twists that into exclusionism that simply does not make sense for any Greek religious tradition if you take even a passing glance at a history book.
A Hellenic Polytheist should respect Greek culture and remember they are not relics of history; but being ethnically Greek or knowing Greek politics is not a prerequisite for this religion. If you read the YSEE American Book…. it’s basically useless for a non-Greek.
(Hellenes = ethnic Greeks vocab wise.)
Here are some ritual passages from their AMERICAN book.
Basic ritual: Lighting the altar flame:
With our nation reduce to cinders, ruined, and enslaved, and with the last Hellenic sacred altar flame long extinguished, a promise of national rising we give to Gods and Ancestors calling upon the goddess Hestia, we ignite the flame of our heart, the altar fire, wishing the Hellenes rebirth enlightenment and freedom.
Name giving ceremony
Hear us ancestral Gods, ethnic Gods of the Hellenes. True offspring of myself and my spouse, Hellene from Hellene / blood of our blood / soul of your souls. Blessed Gods, ethnic Gods of the Hellenes
Funeral Ritual
A hellene born of hellenes, venerated offspring of venerated parents, may you have a peaceful journey
Introduction
[YSEE,] without legal status rendered incapable to defend itself and its beliefs, practices, and sacred rituals. Under such circumstances, and in the interest of defending our religion from what we recognized as an organized attack […] we under took the publication of this book which aims to clarify with the Hellenic ethnic religion is.
Based on the intro it appears the book is a showcase of what their religion is—but NOT an invitation to practice. Despite how the rest of the book is stuctured.
LGBTQ
As for being gay they use Zeus and Hera to justify homophobia; which I cannot begin to tell you how much it angered me:
On the ritualistic level though, since the marriage symbolizes the sacred union of two opposite elements (male-female, Zeus-Hera) for further “demeourgia” (creation, “birth”), we perform marriage rituals only between people of the opposite sex.
They claim to accept it otherwise:
I think I was clear enough: YSEE respects homosexuals, it does not deny membership to them, not even priesthood, and the same it respects people that may have other forms of sexual expression, YSEE does not examine the sexual orientation, we polytheists are friends and not enemies of the human sexuality like the monotheists are
But then use the slippery slope argument of all things:
If we change even once our ritualistic Tradition then there will be no Tradition (ritualistic, I repeat!) at all, because then we’ll have to perform marriage ritual also for a polygamist with 5 brides, also for a nudist couple that may want to be blessed nude, also for a BDSM couple that may want the one part collared, and so on.

(archive) https://web.archive.org/web/20240221203435/https://tjalexander.livejournal.com/61147.html
Also should mention the ultra-conservative/"traditional" Societas Hellenica Antiquariorum won't marry gay people, infertile people, or people older than "child bearing years" to have a religious wedding. And anyone with a medical condition is disqualified from being a priest. But they don't have any outreach outside Greece so its kind of irrelevant to the post but I thought I'd mention it.
Last I checked reconstructionism, not just revivalism, supports bringing these traditions and rituals back to life but also into the 21st century.
Statements in their FAQ
On their Greek website (rather than YSEE USA) they have a hilariously incorrect statment about nations.
[Quick word info: Nation = distinct group of people, nearly synonymous with "ethnicity" but it isn't always; such things can get very nuanced. The French people are a nation. The French have a “Nation State,"— France. There are other nations within France like the Bretons. Thats why "Stateless Nation” is a term, the Kurdish people are a nation but Kurdistan does not exist, hence they are stateless]
YSEE's “Nation” statement:
It is always ancestral and ethnic. It can never be imposed from one nation to another. There is no tradition shared by more than one nation.
Like every word is wrong. I’m sorry have you not heard of Hellenistic times? This is insular and boarders on ethnic nationalistic ideas of exclusion. The Hittites Hurrians Sumerians Akkadians whatever other ANE "nation" you'd like to talk about shared plenty. As a Sumerian and Hellenic polytheist who also separately participates in other traditions—this is bullshit. The entirety of the ANE & Mediterranean history proves it. Sumerians effected Akkadians— Sumerian as sacred language. The Phrygians effected the Greeks— Rhea-Kybele. There are Roman era cultus of Isis, an Egyptian deity, in ancient London— what was that about not sharing? Literally “Greco-Roman Religion” and “Greco-Egyptian Religion” are historical traditions that transcend the modern concepts of a nation. How is this statement even said with any shred of seriousness.
Continuing with the ethnic emphasis:
FAQ: Can someone from a different nation embrace the Hellenic Ethnic Religion? Answer: Ethnic religions refer to specific nations and that is why they do not partake in proselytising. Just like in ancient times, however, they accept people from other nations who freely decide to let go of their own ethnic religion and adopt the religion of a different nation.
In other words, if a Japanese person wanted to “adopt” their concept of Hellenic Polytheism they would have to “let go” of Shinto. In their concept of Hellenic Polytheism also practicing Sumerian Polytheism is most likely offensive to them. Again its insular, you are a Hellene, or you give up your own ethnicity / nation to participate as if you are Hellene.
FAQ: What is your stance vis-a-vis the various political ideologies and their followers? Answer: All decent religions accept people who turn to them, regardless of their individual political, nutritional, sexual, aesthetic or other personal choices. That said, as a religion per se, we steer clear of all ideologies of modernity, especially those that constitute political forms of monotheism and infect humankind with absolute ideas of how to fix the world, threaten human freedom and either deny (internationalism) or misappropriate the concept of ethnos.
I will always say ethnicity and heritage is important, but these people truly take it to a straw man extreme “Internationalism (aka Globalism) denies ethnos!“ No, no it doesn’t.
I think "steer clear of modernity" in and of itself speaks volumes about the organization... in a negative way.
We are a purely ethnic religion, i.e. referring to a very specific ethnos. Under natural, free and normal conditions, that is if the Hellenic ethnos was not under foreign spiritual rule, all Hellenes would worship our ethnic Gods. Proselytising came exclusively out of anti-ethnic or non-ethnic, expansive and global religions.
Source: https://www.ysee.gr/faq-eng.html#2
Alexander the Great. Hellenistic Traditions. Did you not study what they did in Egypt? To the ancient Egyptian "ethnicity”? This literally denies that syncretized Gods existed. Alexander the Great literally replaced Zoroastrian traditions with Hellenic traditions during his conquests. I bet they won't complain about a major global religion such as Manichaeism which stretched from Rome to Persia to China— no they just need a reason to whine about "Abrahamic Religions"
I also love that apparently not following the ancient Greek religion = spiritual stagnation. And blatant theocracy! Even though ancient Greeks weaved religion and politics together literally all the time.
... restoration of the Ethnic, Polytheistic Hellenic Tradition, Religion and way of life in Modern Greek society which is ruled by spiritual stagnation , irrationality, byzantinism and blatant theocracy.
Source
The way YSEE presents the religion certainly lends a helpful hand to anyone who wants to use "Greece is for Greeks go home" type rhetoric. They also present it in such a way that promotes religious disdain for other groups rather than acceptance or encouragement of a diverse society.
-🔹-
YSEE America has some of the main website’s FAQs but not all as far as I can tell.
I don’t care if you are “okay with everyone’s sexualities,” when you use my beloved Gods Hera and Zeus to say my marriage is religiously invalid and it means you might have to start marrying nude people wearing collars in a Hellenic Polytheist ritual, you’re a homophobic shit. Almost as bad as “Love the sinner hate the sin and gay marriage will lead to legal beastiality” Almost as bad, not quite, but it comes close.
Ancestors do not take a front and center place in the religion to the point where not having ancestors of that ethnicity would literally prevent something crucial in the tradition, as opposed to say, root work where it's necessary. Nor was Hellenic polytheism ever closed off completely, the entire ANE & Mediterranean was an open mixing melting pot of Gods and traditions.
FAQ: Why "Supreme"? Answer: Because, as the official entity representing the Hellenic Ethnic Religion, the Supreme Council of Ethnikoi Hellenes is its foremost administrative body
Do not support them, do not allow them to claim to be the authority of Hellenic Polytheism.
They aren't the only Greek organization for this religion! Don't let them fool you.

!! please properly read through this entire post. I put rules and what to say when requesting and most requests I’ve been getting do not listen. I understand it can be a lot, but it makes it harder to write when you don’t give me anything to go off of. !!
. . . . . ◟੭
who I will write for…
.ᐟ anime ˎˊ˗
꒰ attack on titan ꒱ メ ꒰ bungo stray dogs ꒱ メ ꒰ black butler ꒱ メ ꒰ naruto ꒱ メ ꒰ tokyo ghoul ꒱ メ ꒰ full metal alchemist : brotherhood ꒱ メ ꒰ jujutsu kaisen ꒱
.ᐟ games ˎˊ˗
꒰ death stranding ꒱ メ ꒰ the arcana ꒱ メ ꒰ resident evil ꒱ メ ꒰ genshin impact ꒱ メ ꒰ honkai star rail ꒱ メ ꒰ final fantasy vii ꒱
.ᐟ tv/movies ˎˊ˗
꒰ the sandman ꒱ メ ꒰ the untamed ꒱ メ ꒰ word of honor/lord seventh ꒱ メ ꒰ howls moving castle ꒱ メ ꒰ heaven officials blessing ꒱
. . . . . ◟੭
what I will write for…
I’m comfortable writing smut, fluff, angst, head cannons, reactions, scenarios, drabbles, analysis, storyline and non storyline.
I'm comfortable writing for minorities, such as lgbtq+, race/religion (to the best of my abilities), and physical/mental disabilities, as well as mental health.
I don’t mind writing horror or anything along the lines of it. I am okay with writing gore, violence, and anything along the lines of it. especially if it’s in canon!
what I will not write for…
I will not write noncon, abuse, bestiality, incest, nsfw underage, or extreme kinks such as gore play, piss play, or scat.
I might not take any requests involving major character death depending on my mental health, or it may take a while.
. . . . . ◟੭
how to request…
be clear about what you specifically want. if you do not know what you specifically want, clarify that in the request. if you want me to take full control over a request and write it only as I want please make that clear!
please specify the gender or sex of the reader! I write mainly am trying to write for male reader, gender neutral (to cover all gender identities), and lgbtq+ gender identities. if you do not specify it will automatically be gender neutral. I do not write for female reader.
specify if you’d like a headcanon, scenario, analysis, drabbles, etc. if you don’t know what you want again, just lmk!
specify the character or world you wish for me to write for!
here’s some examples…
“Hello! I’d like to request a headcanon with xiao and lyney from genshin with a male reader, where the reader is an electro bow user and fought in the war in inazuma. Thank you!”
“I really loved your … work, what if … happened with levi instead and …? Can you make it fluff, maybe with them cuddling? Gender neutral reader please!”
how not to request…
“can I get general headcanon with attack on titan men?” (asking for something without guidance, direction; it’s way too vague).
“Hi! Can I get a relationship scenario with juuzou?” (asking again without gender).
. . . . . ◟੭
general information…
I mentioned this in my blog rules but I struggle with mental health issues and it can take me a while to answer requests. If it not being done immediately bothers you then maybe do not request. Also, due to some mh issues, I struggle with socializing and reading people, which is why I really appreciate being clear about requests.
If I lose interest in a fandom I will put here, the masterlist, and their respective list that I am not writing for them atm. If I pick back up on it I will probably write for them again!
If you do not see a characters name in the masterlist I do not write for them, same goes for fandom. I'm pretty good at updating masterlists to stay up to date with my writing.
. . . . . ◟੭
I want to make clear that if you request I will automatically assume you read through this. If you’re not clear please understand I will write it however I want and I have the right to! I know this seems strict, I promise I’m friendly and verryyyy open minded! And I cannot wait to see your requests and I hope you enjoy your time here!

anon who brought up antisemitism (I don't expect you to answer this, it's a thorny topic and you've already said plenty on it, just wanted to clarify to you so you didn't feel like I was attacking you!) - to be clear, I was addressing some of the anons, not you, I think you've handled the asks really well and I know you're just replying to what people send in! I also know there are plenty of reasons to dislike Sammy, and absolutely think that criticizing zionism/what Israel is currently doing to Palestine is not the same as antisemitism. However, it can obviously be done in an antisemitic way or for antisemitic reasons, and while you have been great, a few of the anons have done that/seem to be doing that. And as I said, it's not just Sammy - the way they talk about the Hughes brothers is kinda sus, too. (I think you've gotten rid of the worst of the asks but if I notice another one I'll let you know, like a lot of it is less overt and more subconscious stereotypes I don't think anons realize they've absorbed and are parroting.) I honestly don't give a crap about Sammy specifically being criticized, she sounds like a mean girl and if she sees this blog well that's on her, but I was more hoping that some of the anons examine their prejudices (the antisemitism and internalized misogyny) as they move through the world and interact with other human beings. No matter how valid the criticism, if it comes from a really ugly place it's gonna come out in a really ugly way at some point, you know?
No worries anon I 100% understand where you're coming you just unfortunately send it in at a time I was already dealing with other anons lol
I try to make sure the ask I post on here are never too far over the line and delete ones that are
Again I 100% never want anyone to feel unwelcome or bad on here for religious reasons and do please let me know if there are any ask that are over the line
I think from now on anything about religion will not be posted on here as it's hard to let people say their opinions and keep everything respectful
Again I hope everyone understands
Also do always let me know if you feel anything on here is sending the wrong message

An Uncommon View of the Bible
WARNING: Contains religious themes and possible blasphemy
One of the best pieces of advice that I have ever heard about reading the bible is from my religious studies professor. He said the Bible isn’t like a lot of other religious texts. You need to read it as a collection of the Jewish (and later Christian) people’s growing relationship with God as it changes and evolves.
Now, before we begin, I must clarify that I will be using He/Him when referring to God. It’s traditional in my neck of the woods to use capitalized masculine pronouns regardless of where it is in the sentance. I will also refer to Him as a character later or a person. Yes, He is a deity, so neither of these are accurate descriptions, but we will be viewing the Bible not as a religious text during this analysis, but as a literary one. This anaylsis is not intended to attack anyone’s faith or religion. It is just another lens to view the Bible through.
The following is not a common interpretation near my region where I live, but I like this view and have not seen enough of this view in any Judeo-Christian media that I encounter, and that’s a shame. Also, although I reference the Bible, please understand that I am working with multiple translations, not just King James, and some details may be wrong. I am not a theologist. This is for fun.
Now, through the lens of God as an evolving Character, we can see that while God is all-knowing (several people try to lie to him and fail, and at several points he calls people out on their actions) and all-powerful (he did create the universe after all), he’s not all understanding. Nor is he in any way perfect.
In fact, early God has a lot of flaws. For starters, God at first seems to have a bit of trouble disproportionate retribution. When sufficiently motivated, typically by anger, God seems to have a tendancy to overdo his reactions. For example, in the early Bible, God destroyed multiple cities for being bad, commiting genocide, and also caused a massive flood for 40 days and 40 nights. He also turned a woman into a pillar of salt for disobeying him, and when people joined together to build the Tower of Babel and offended God through their boasting, He broke the tower, and scattered the people, also causing them all to have seperate languages.
However, this isn’t just limited to anger. When exiling Cain for being the first murderer, Cain asked for mercy as people were going to get revenge on him for his infamy. God decides to perform an act of mercy, and gives him the mark of Cain, a mark that identifies him and will notify all people that any harm done to Cain will spring back on them seven-fold.
This is actually a fairly important part of God’s character arc early on, as it shows that despite God’s temper (by this point He has flipped out on Adam and Eve for eating from the forbidden tree of knowledge, banishing them from Eden, cursing Eve and her descendents with painful childbirth, and stripping the snake of its legs) He does still contain a merciful streak. Yet even this mercy is a bit dramatic and still reflect His tendancy of disproportionate retribution.
God is also shown to be proud and vain. He greatly admires people showing him respect and worship, demanding it often, and becoming upset when He feels it is not shown. Going back to the Tower of Babel, God is offended by the people boasting about how tall the tower is going to be, how great it will be, and how it will reach Heaven. (In some translations the boast also includes something akin to “God can’t wreck it”. “It’s greater than God’s work.” Or something of that nature for extra annoying God points.) So, He wrecks it and makes it so that people cannot try that again.
He also seems to get super enraged by people worshipping other gods. He makes multiple repeated statements to not do that, and whenever someone puts up his power against other gods, He gets downright boastful about His power outshining them, and will often do things deliberately to spite whoever or whatever the people are worshipping. Like when Moses transforms his staff into a snake using God’s power, the Egyptian court also does the same, and the snake staff eats the others. He also flips out when the freed Isrealites start worshipping a golden calf, and has to be talked down by Moses from doing some serious smiting. He also turns a king to madness for worshipping other gods after he swore to worship God.
God also seems to enjoy obedience.  He tests Abraham by nearly having him scarfice Issac to him. Then sends an angel to tell him “Good job. Here’s a lamb to sacrifice instead.” He also shows great fondness towards Job and brags about him and his loyalty to Satan. Then after Job is tested harshly and still keeps faith, God rewards him very well. He also starts talking to Soloman while he’s sleeping, and doesn’t explain what he wants or why he’s talking to Soloman until after Soloman proclaims his devotion to God. In general, He has a repeated pattern of testing people just to see if they’ll stay loyal and obedient to Him.
Yet, as the Bible goes on, we see more and more moments of softness from God. For example, he promises Noah that He’ll never do a flood again and seems genuinely remorseful for His actions. To Abraham, when He realizes that Abraham is truly loyal and is fond of Abraham, He knows that to Abraham, children is super important to him and swears that one day, his descendants will be as numerous as the stars along with several other promises. He expresses genuine pleasure at Soloman asking for wisdom, and protects His followers from extreme acts of persecutions and grants improbable victories to them.
Although we see less and less miracles as the Bible continues throughout the Old Testament, and the miracles themselves start being less and lessflashy, God seems to slowly start placing more value on cunning, wisdom, and community, with less of a, for lack of a better word, God complex and a need for worship.
By the time we reach the New Testament, God has really mellowed out. Through Jesus’s teachings, we see that He tries to emphasize that being kind is more important than intolerance, that He does not appreciate his worshippers for being judgy about others, and he seems to place a large emphasis on trying to understand others’ perspectives and just being kind and forgiving, even to people who you don’t feel deserve it. He also seems to have stopped favoring one people and expresses love towards all people.
Of course, He still has a bit of his old personality. He does demand that Jesus act as a sacrifice before no one else has to, so there’s still that same demand for obedience, and He also urges the Disciples to spread the word of Christianity, thereby showing He still has a need to be worshipped. Yet, for the most part, He seems to have overcome his anger issues, and the reaction He encourages for the Disciples towards people who spurn their teaching is basically “Don’t get mad. Keep being kind, dust yourself off, and walk away.”
In the end, I think a version of God who sees you, understands what you’ve been through, knows all your sins and forgives you anyways is more powerful when it’s someone who in their own past has had to overcome their flaws and still has them to an extent, but has learned how to go on and tries not to hurt people as much rather than someone who’s been perfect all along. But that’s just me.

On Babbushka
There is a group of well-known writers in the fandom who have been discouraged and put down by one of their own, Zannah - @babbushka. It happens behind the scenes in DMs. It happens in posts and tags.
In DMs, she has started conversations with seemingly innocent questions. When she doesn't receive the response she was aiming for, she diverts the conversation to criticizing and humiliating the person. She has attacked writers for tagging—or not tagging—a post in a way she deems appropriate. She has gotten into arguments over how characters were portrayed and then tried to claim victimization when the other person wouldn't knuckle under.
She will appeal to her following to attack any fan or creator who has an opinion that differs from her own. She will encourage friends to send rude anons. Those same friends will also DM the target with rude remarks.
Several creators have stopped writing altogether because of their interactions with her.
We are tired of being discouraged. We are tired of being talked down to. We are tired of being bullied. Enough is enough. Under the cut we share our stories, let the chips fall where they may. It's up to you, the reader, to decide whether to support her.
We can only warn up-and-coming writers, artists, fans, and supporters of her behavior.

Hope - @callmehopeless
The Australian bushfires of the 2019-2020 season were nightmarish—for those living through it and those witnessing. As the season went on, cries for help increased. Joaquin Phoenix used the time during his Best-Actor acceptance speech at the Golden Globes to call for unity, action, and accountability. Regardless of what we may think of him, it was a thoughtful speech.
Hope, who is an Australian, found Mr. Phoenix's message encouraging and reblogged a gifset of his speech.
Tumblr media
That morning, Zannah made a post about Mr. Phoenix's shady past and his association with a known sexual predator. The main reason wasn't because his speech was inappropriate or not timely, but because she didn't think he should be the one to get the attention over other actors who had spoken of the bushfires during the Golden Globes.
While Hope confessed she was scared of the bushfires, scared for her loved ones, Zannah was more concerned with purity. To Zannah it was about the face of the message, not the message itself. It didn't matter that Mr. Phoenix was amplifying support for Australia, what did matter was that he had done bad things.
It was virtue signaling on Zannah's part.
Still, this remains a complicated argument. Can a person who has done bad things actually have something positive to add to a cause? Should we listen to a problematic person if they share an insight? Does it reflect poorly on us to agree with their isolated statement? Will we be canceled, too? What about the bigger picture?
In this case, the bigger picture was hundreds of homes were destroyed in the bushfires and families were displaced. People died, thousands of animals died. And it was because of climate change. Mr. Phoenix called for his rich peers to examine their respective lifestyles and to give back.
Yes, Mr. Phoenix has done bad things. Yes, he has associated with people who have done bad things. His words resonated with people on Tumblr, and they reblogged part of his speech. He said something that gave Hope hope.
Tumblr media
Hope was asked by a third party how they could help. She came back with a resource guide for those who wanted to send aid to Australians.
When it became obvious Zannah wouldn't silence Hope, Zannah decided to sub-post about the interaction. There, she accused Hope of being a rape apologist for reblogging a gifset and finding a little comfort in it. Zannah placed her ego before someone who was facing a very real danger.
Tumblr media
Side-eying an actor is one thing, shaming a person you know for finding solace during a scary time is another. Hope isn't responsible for which voice got picked up. The only "colors" being shown here are Zannah's. She put her own concerns about being perceived as morally pure above actually supporting a friend.
I'll keep this brief - I knew Zannah for many years. And on one of the lowest weeks of my life, when my suburb was burning down and I feared for my family: she convinced me I was a rape apologist for sharing Joaquin Phoenix's speech asking for action on bushfires. In all my life, I never felt more alone. To add insult to injury, she then posted memes mocking me - something that has stuck with me to this day.
I've had dear friends quit the fandom because of her kinkshaming. I've had people I love message me distraught over what she's said.
Enough is enough.

Rose - @the-wayward-rose
This PM exchange started after I tagged my reblog of Zannah's fic Feast (Cameron Bistle x Reader) with cw: white reader. I had been on her taglist, and I wanted to show support because I liked the fic overall. For context, the reason for my tag is because of this sentence:
"But then you're blushing so pretty and squeezing his hand affectionately and reaching for the handle to the passenger side of his car, and then you're laughing when he swats your hand away to open it for you, and then you're beckoning him down as if to ask a question – only to place a chaste kiss to his lips instead."
This is from Cameron's point of view.
She asked the reason for the tag, and I explained it was because of the use of "blush" to describe Reader's appearance.
Tumblr media
She misunderstood my premise. I did not mean only white people blush.
According to Merriam-Webster, blush means "a reddening of the face especially from shame, modesty, or confusion" or "a red or rosy tint."
It is an autonomic response, though. It happens in all humans for body cooling and nonverbal communication. The main problem with using it universally is that melanin obscures the appearance of said autonomic response.
Here's an example of three runners:
Tumblr media
The two pale women, left and center, are pink in the face. They are blushing. The woman of color on the right is likely blushing, too. However, the melanin in her skin obscures the blood in her cheeks. She is not pink.
That's the pitfall of the word "blush." The observer can't always see it. We know what it feels like. We all do it. The face and/or neck gets hot. The use of "blush" is shorthand in narrative, and I understand that. Nevertheless, when writing to cater to a reader-insert audience of unknown heritage, writers need to consider describing with universal terms.
Tumblr media
Again, she misunderstood my premise. I clarified by asking how Cameron sees the Reader blush under an abundance of melanin:
Tumblr media
She sidestepped the physiological explanation to go straight for justification. She tried to legitimize "blush" as "perhaps [this]" or "perhaps [that]" when I stated earlier that blush by definition is pink or is to redden. That's the logic. A noncommittal, covering-all-the-bases, complicated defense diluted the conversation.
With her earlier "I have friends of color, hence I can't be exclusionary" statement, I wasn't sure she would get my point. I take full responsibility for not explaining, too. I should've asked for some time to gather my thoughts, but I didn't. Truthfully, I was unprepared, because I didn't think my insignificant tag would be an issue.
Also, I was confused why she was trying to police my blog.
Her replies came rapidly—before I could mention my confusion—and felt aggressive in the moment. Maybe that wasn't her intention, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
That doesn't take away from the fact that words have meaning. It's why we use specific words. It's not understood in the narrative that her use of "blush" could mean a bunch of things. If I had known, I wouldn't have tagged as I did. How is a reader of color supposed to know that? How does Cameron see Reader's blush if she has darker skin?
As writers, we don't know who is reading. Someone could be very pale or very dark. A person with medium-toned skin can turn a shade of pink or red. A person with darker-toned skin will not. We can't assume all readers are medium to pale. We need to develop better writing skills. We have to include everyone.
Readers of color > White-writer feelings
When I stood my ground, she doubled down, stating I made no sense in my tagging and that I lacked the ability to learn from her. She then diverted the argument, attacking a ficlet I wrote a few days beforehand—which had nothing to do with this argument. The Christian imagery in that ficlet was upsetting to her and "in such poor taste" because she headcanons Flip Zimmerman (BlacKkKlansman) is 100% culturally and ethnically Jewish.
Tumblr media
Flip stated in the movie:
"I'm Jewish, but I wasn't raised to be. It wasn't part of my life. I never thought much about being Jewish. Nobody around me was Jewish. I wasn't going to a bunch of Bar Mitzvahs. I didn't have a Bar Mitzvah. I was just another white kid. And now I'm in some basement denying it out loud[...] I never thought much about it. Now I'm thinking about it all the time. About rituals and heritage. Is that passing? Well then, I have been passing."
By his own admission, Flip is ethnically Jewish, but not culturally. These are two separate things, and that should be recognized. While Judaism is ethnically and culturally entwined in ways that other religions are not, one does not equate the other. You can be one and not the other.
At the time, I didn't want her to sic her 3000+ followers on me. I wasn't going to argue further. I asked myself if the ficlet was important and worth anon-hate and realized, no, it wasn't. It was a throw-away.
And since I'm not culturally Jewish, maybe I had misstepped. And since Zannah is both culturally and ethnically Jewish, I asked for her guidance.
Tumblr media
She flatly refused my request. I don't know how I was supposed to learn from her if she wouldn't teach me.
Tumblr media
It sounded as if she wanted me to delete the whole fic. Like none of it was worth saving because it hadn't been Zannah-approved. I had gone against her headcanon, and the fic was too offensive to fix.
The last sentence was supposed to cover her back from criticism, and it placed all the responsibility on me. Obviously, she was above such petty concerns as someone else's blog or writing. Never mind that she had just attempted to get me to change my tagging system and rewrite my ficlet. On my blog.
Later, I figured out she was only criticizing and not offering a constructive critique. Her argument was not in good faith. It was retaliation for not giving her the obedience she thought she was owed.
This is the passage that offended her:
"It’s because of the way he fucks you. Like it’s confession—though he’s never been much of a church-going man. Every touch, every thrust, is a truth between you. Even when it’s rough and greedy. It feels like flagellation when you claw his back. He wears the sin proudly."
This is what I edited it to:
"It’s because of the way he fucks you. Every touch, every thrust, is a truth between you. Even when it’s rough and greedy. It feels like flagellation when you claw his back. He wears your marks proudly."
Yeah, I'm not pleased with the revised passage. It's lost its teeth, but I keep it.
The anonymous message(s) she mentioned weren't very anonymous, either. Unfortunately, I've since deleted the two messages. I had apologized to Anon for disappointing them. I said that if the fic was too much, they should unfollow and block me. I meant that in a self-care way. At the same time, I did not—and do not—owe anyone discourse. I don't have to explain my art when it doesn't hurt anyone. And no one was hurt by some purportedly misplaced religious imagery.
I have been silent about this since late January/early February. I was embarrassed. I had been bullied into changing my blog and my fic by someone who proclaims to never do anything of the sort. I had been a fool. Since this conversation with her, I have been blocked/blacklisted by third-parties, most likely at her behest, when none of this exchange had been necessary.

Kassanovella - @kylorengarbagedump
Zannah's followers have asked her about Kassanovella’s Fix Your Attitude. For context, it's currently one of the most kudo-ed fics for Kylo Ren x Reader on AO3. It had a bit of a renaissance earlier in 2020 because a TikToker wrote a song for it.
Tumblr media
There is nothing wrong with not wanting to read a fic. If the subject matter doesn't work for a reader, they don't have to partake. Easy as that. So, these tags aren't a problem.
However, it led to this...
Tumblr media
She lashed out, calling Kassanovella's fic a joke. A joke.
She implied her fics should be as popular as Kassanovella's because she works really hard on them. She admitted she's tied to the metrics. She implied she wouldn't be writing fic if not for the external validation.
Here's the thing about fanfic: readers like what they like. They don't care about a writer's effort. They only know what works for them. They comment and give kudos, reblog and like what they connect with. That is not under the writer's control. All a writer can do is try their best and concentrate on what they're passionate about.
To bash another writer's fic because it's popular is disrespectful. This whole bitter rant drips of entitlement and is an affront to Kassanovella.
Some time later, an incident happened in a chatroom during a streaming event for veterans by Arts In the Armed Forces (Adam Driver's organization). At least one fan brought up Fix Your Attitude while waiting for Mr. Driver to make an appearance. They were also disrespectful towards the other presenters by demanding to see Mr. Driver. It caused a big stink within the fandom, and Zannah had some choice words.
Tumblr media
While mentioning the fic during the livestream was inappropriate, it was also inappropriate to throw all fans of the fic under the bus as she did in her tag. Sweeping generalizations and incriminations of a subset of fans certainly reads as if she resents those fans for a perceived slight.
Next, Zannah made an earlier disparaging comment about Kassanovella's fic, Little Bird. Unfortunately, that comment is lost. However, the messages supporting the comment remain. (For context, Little Bird is a Kylo Ren x Reader The Handmaid's Tale AU. It has been well received in the fandom, earning thousands of kudos on AO3.)
Tumblr media
What an author wants to write about and sexualize is their business. Fantasizing about being dominated by Kylo Ren isn't cringe. It's a sexual fantasy. Some sexual fantasies can be disturbing to those who do not share the same kink.
Sexual fantasies are like ice cream. There's a reason why there are different flavors.
Also, "I will never ever be a person that tells an author what to do or not do" is an absolute lie. As evident in this post, Zannah most definitely tells authors what to do or not do.
Tumblr media
Again, she bashes Kassanovella, claiming her writing isn't good. Her motivation for bashing Kassanovella can only be speculation. With Zannah's previously stated opinion of Fix Your Attitude, though, it indicates a certain level of negative emotions.

Anonymous
An anonymous person came forward with a case of Zannah policing their blog. Anon has a sideblog for their personal AU with Flip Zimmerman. They reblog gifsets and post headcanons. They were an enthusiastic fan of Zannah's and reblogged a few of the gifset she made. Anon tagged their reactions, and Zannah blocked them for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anon went to Zannah and asked why they were blocked, because all they wanted to do was have fun and support fellow Flip lovers.
Tumblr media
Anon was under the impression that because they were shipping themselves, and not Zannah, with Flip, she blocked them. Their personal AU doesn't align with Zannah's headcanon that she alone is married to this character and has his children.
While Zannah's reply may sound innocent, and perhaps it is, it also speaks to someone who has set herself up as the owner of Flip Zimmerman. (Wait until Spike Lee or the real Ron Stallworth hears about that...) It appears that if a fan does not comply with the Zannah-approved headcanon, where only she is married to Flip, that fan shall be blocked. If a fan uses tags on their blog that she does not approve of, that fan will be blocked.
Zannah's policing is disturbing. Going into a blog to look for something as a reason to block is disturbing. Any fan is allowed to use any tag on their blog how they wish. If the OP has said their post can be reblogged, how a reblogger tags is beyond the OP's control. To punish that reblogger for not behaving in a way she finds acceptable is uncalled for and unjust.

Anonymous
Backstory: Zannah does not view Ben Solo's arc in the Star Wars sequel trilogy as acceptable canon. However, she does view the story she created for Flip Zimmerman in BlacKkKlansman as completely canon.
This is not the first time she has been asked to clarify her position. Nor is it the first time she has avoided giving an on-topic response. A question asked in good faith should be responded to in kind.
Tumblr media
If a creator doesn't want to address the issue, they can state that they don't. Deflecting from the question only muddies the waters. Fans feel dismissed. The creator feels hounded, and comes across as irritated and unapproachable. No one has a positive fandom experience.
There is nothing wrong with having a headcanon. What is wrong is Zannah mandating her headcanon for Flip on the whole fandom. As evident in this post, if a fan does not comply with her headcanon, they will be summarily blocked.
Also, there is nothing wrong with rejecting canon. Writers of transformative works have always done this. The problem is shaming fans who have accepted canon while not offering justification for that shaming. A creator saying they "can't help them" is the creator washing their hands of responsibility from articulating their thoughts when they themselves began criticizing the canon in the first place.
Again, this is a bad-faith argument. Creators can't ask for discussion and attention and then get mad when their viewpoints are challenged. Just because a discussion isn't going a creator's way doesn't mean it's an attack, either. It means people want clarification, and if one criticizes, they should be able to back up their criticisms.
-
While sharing our stories has been freeing, it's not our aim as fellow fans to cancel Zannah. We would hope she would take the opportunity to reflect on the damage she has done to the fandom. We hope we all can move forward with a more approachable and supportive scene.
No one person speaks for our fandom. The actions of one fan do not represent the entire fandom. Whether creator or consumer, you are welcome here.

Devil May Cry OC Week Day 5
Hello and welcome to @dmc-oc-week Day 5: Weapons/Abilities| Jobs/Hobbes!
I feel like this will be a partial retread of things I’ve already said this week, but that’s fine either way. I like talking about Sirrus! So let’s go topic by topic and flesh things out! And as always, I’m trying to keep it as spoiler free as possible. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything of if you have questions or just simply have input. Thanks!
Weapons: Sirrus only has one physical weapon. His dark blade, Kilnsbane. Due to it’s construction consisting of about 2/1 Damascus Steel, 1/4 meteorite, and 1/4 other nebulous metals like tungsten, his blade contains naturally occurring carbon nanotube. Needless to say, it’s basically indestructible despite the fact that’s a damn swept hilt rapier with a thin blade. But, due to the blade’s incredible melting point (Approximately 3,400C due to the presence of tungsten, which is about double the heat of one of his hottest flame abilities, blue flame.) it’s the perfect match to his abilities.
Abilities: Sirrus has several nebulous powers that can’t be explained without spoiling what he is, but I can explain how they work and their uses. In addition to things like increased agility, speed, stamina, increased healing speed, and endurance, his most notable abilities are his flame ability that are technically not flame, and his dark powers.
1. His flame ability comes from an inborn gift to control light. Essentially he causes things to ignite by raising the heat index of the light around him. he’s basically creating localized flash burns. That’s also how he keeps himself from burning. He can cause an imbalance in the temperature around his body. His skin isn’t fire retardant.
2. His dark powers manifest in nebulous ways such as increased night sight and higher sensory abilities in dark environments. As such, he’s difficult to sneak up on, but he can sense things around him in a greater radius when in dark environments. But due to the duality of his abilities and nature, he also feels the pull of darkness, and as such, he uses his darker abilities sparingly. He fears losing control of them and overwhelming his own allies. He also has other abilities, but they will be revealed later. That’s spoilers territory. You’ll see...
Jobs: He has two main jobs, but while one is as a direct result of boredom (see #1 in this section) his other is more for personal reasons than anything else. He feels a sense of responsibility those less powerful than him due to the power and standing he possesses, so he does what he can to keep the world from folding in on it’s self. Here is a better breakdown:
1. As an adjudicator, he’s job is to go to regions and cities that are having supernatural activity, find the source, and solve the problem. He doesn’t strictly deal with just demonic activity. He sometimes deals with curses, tears in reality, and even serves as a mediator between powerful factions to avoid full on conflict. As such, he’s well read on legal maters that relate to his employers, and is able to read several languages including Adamic, Enochian , Latin, and even a little bit of Coptic, but that’s mostly just for the fun of it. His favorite among the languages is Gaelic, however. He considers it beautiful, and occasionally barrows a word or two from it in casual conversation. Makes you wonder how he became so fluent in it...
He also has a deep respect for the more disrespected religions in modern society, and doesn’t like seeing them portrayed in a negative, inaccurate light. Examples include Voodoo being considered entirely evil and Pagan’s and Wicca's being considered silly, evil, or hedonistic. He respects the tenacity of their cultures and the fact that they have survived so much oppression, though he does not practice any of them himself. But as far as he is concerned, believing is not intrinsically linked to respecting. He doesn’t have to understand to be tolerant and respectful of other cultures beliefs.
2. As an ally to the team. He came to town at the behest of his “superiors” and at the request of his father’s divorced second wife’s sister, magnolia. (His family tree is a mess. I have to post it sometime) to investigate the fact that in like 2o years there had been at least 8 known large scale demonic attacks. But upon arriving, he came to the conclusion that there was a need for him to stay and assist the team. His boss was just going to have to be irritated at the lack of desk work getting done. And after an extremely powerful Devil got involved, he was firm in his convictions. Being personally injured by that demon didn’t have anything to do with that. Nope. Sirrus is totally immune to petty grudges. Yup.
Hobbes: In his spare time, Sirrus likes to take in the arts. He participates in a few of them as well, ranging from sketching and drawing, to writing and even a light bit of photography when he has the time. One of his favorite pastimes is actually dancing, something that he doesn’t mention, but would totally be down to do at a moment’s notice. He comes from a somewhat transient background on his mother’s side (She’s from a Gypsy background, but left it to strike out on her own during her youth due to unfortunate and somewhat involuntary circumstances, but some of her culture remained and she passed it on to her son. This is part of his respect for marginalized and disrespected cultures) so  Maybe he could teach V sometime.
He loves nature, and spending time in it is always agreeable. He just hates bright sun. The migrains are NOT worth it.
Here are the other days if you need them!

I just want to mention before you slate anyone for hating on Gabriella Walsh; she's been called out a multitude of times for taking advantage of pretending to be Latinx and for profiteering off Latinx people and culture when she had no Latinx heritage or blood.
She's been asked repeatedly to stop appropriating Latinx culture, roles and appearances and she refuses to acknowledge it or understand that what she is doing is harmful.
It has absolutely nothing to do with misogyny or any ships and everything to do with racial/cultural appropriation.
Just in case you weren't aware or were confused!
Hello anon! I hope you're prepared for a read, because I have quite a few things to say in response to this. I am neither unaware nor confused, and nor by the way are other POC friends I ranted about your ask with.
So let’s get into it.
1) It's interesting this is literally the only thing you choose to address. Not the misogyny or malicious hatred Gabrielle and the other female actresses' on the show get, but simply this. Interesting.
Now, you should ask yourself, why when someone makes a post against malicious hatred and misogyny it is not your FIRST response to agree, but rather try to change the conversation against them.
2) Secondly, please understand that everything I am saying comes from my own experience and point of view as an afro mexican myself and honestly if you are white, I could care less what you think on the issue.
I find it interesting you're so comfortable attacking Gabrielle Walsh for these claims of "taking advantage", "pretending to be latinx", and "profiteering off latinx people."
Such big broad powerful statements to say, when in reality you should NOT be so comfortable attacking a mixed African American woman, or any person of color for Fox's CHOICE to cast Gabrielle Walsh in this ambiguous latinx role.
Why aren't you attacking FOX about their casting choices? Why aren’t you going against networks for choosing to do this, but POC?
Let’s not forget that we all know there are a few other actors you could bring this debate up against, but that doesn't really happen now does it? I wonder why.
3) Tell me, what do you know of the struggles of being a black woman in America or a black woman trying to pursue a career as an actress in America? Any race of color and so on?
What do you know of what it's like to be a person of color going through a rigorous casting process, and potentially constantly only get casted as latinx because you are mixed and do not have the stereotypically features/attitude the casting wants?
You don't know.
Hell, I don't know either because I've never had to be in Gabrielle Walsh's shoes or any black women trying to get an acting job in America or anywhere in the world.
But, I do know that growing up as an Afro mexican myself in school with a Spanish name, but "ambiguous" features, people have literally sat around me and debated my race before I could speak up or clarify.
"You look black."
"No, you look mexican."
That is such an uncomfortable position to be, and I would imagine Gabrielle. Walsh has felt the same, because it's a feeling a lot of mixed POC can most likely relate to, constantly getting placed in a box by what race they are and what race they're perceived as. POC actors are constantly forced to deal with these issues, while it’s easy for people to attack us for them online.
I can only imagine how many times a white casting director has looked at her and thought, “Well, I know that you’re not latinx, but you certainly look at it, and that’s all we care about.”
Because at the end of the day what does white Hollywood really care about? Trying to get that diversity win.
4) In my opinion, a lot of the hate Gabrielle is even getting is because she's getting in the way of the fandom's favorite ship. Any female who gets in the way of the ship gets hate.
So, is it really your niche to constantly pinpoint POC actors or any actor really who gets cast to play a character of a race they are not? Ambiguous or otherwise. Is it your passion to speak on this issue?
What about sexuality? Straight actors who play LGBTQ+ roles and vice versa? What about religion as well? There are so many angles to look at this from.
Ask yourself seriously, if you are attacking Gabrielle. Walsh because you're genuinely THAT concerned that a mixed black woman is getting cast to play this ambiguous latinx role.. OR if you're just concerned for your ship.
5) Not to mention the amount of issues black and latina women themselves face in the industry and their experiences. Honestly POC actresses and actors are the most hated on in fandoms. People love coming for their necks over nothing and anything, and that’s how it’s been for a long ass time.
6) Now to speak on it from another point of view, I wish Casting Directors did not do this. I wish that people were cast to play the race they are, and that people of color didn’t have to deal with these types of issues.
I wish people of color weren’t placed into boxes by how they appear, and not what they are.
But no, I myself as a afro mexican am NOT offended that Gabrielle. Walsh is being cast to play these roles. Nor would I be offended if the roles were reversed, because you know what? There are so many more important things to be upset about when it comes to the injustice of POC.
People of color have had to fight so hard to even have their place in the entertainment industry and we constantly have to see famous white actors portrayed us our races.
Now, I’d be very interested to know what Gabrielle Walsh herself actually thinks about the issue and her experiences, and what she thinks about all the hate she has received from it.
It’s actually a very deep conversation to have that should be had, and probably because of fear of backlash, we will never see her speak on it.
And genuinely, if other latinx people have an issue with Gabrielle’s role, or any other similar issues to this, I respect their voices and I respect that conversation because we are valid.
But I do not accept vilifying her for this, especially if it’s coming from a misguided place.
So nah, you ain't about to come into my inbox and try to make her seem like some money hungry culture stealing witch to me. Nah.
Honestly, there's a lot more I could say on this topic, but to summarize, I do not agree with your blind views, and I will not tolerate any hate against this actress on my blog.
Think whatever the heck you want about the character, I am indifferent, but this ain’t it for me.
So if any other Gabrielle haters want to try it, you're simply going to be blocked because I am not dealing with your bullshit.
EDIT: Someone asked my opinion on the interview Gabrielle did and I’ll be frank. I did not like her wording on it, but it is not an odd thing to hear a person of color say in my experience. I’ve heard POC people around me say similar things. Is it a problematic statement? Yes. Should she be informed of that? Yes. Do I think it came from a malicious place? No.
However, I don’t think she took that question very seriously, nor do I think the interviewer was really trying to get to the BOTTOM of her serious thoughts on it.
When I say I would be interested to hear her thoughts on the matter, I’m talking about a deep dive, another POC asking her the serious questions and getting to the root of her thoughts and others on the matter, there and now.

Hindu gobbar eating pujari. Fuck you and your fascist ass.
Hello, anon!
Thanks for this...very kind ask. For your kind information, I'm agnostic, inspite of the fact I write about Hindu ithihaasa. I don't follow any religion, but I respect all of them, be it Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism or Zoroastrianism.
I do not understand why Hindus are targeted as 'being fascist'. Yes, our country's ruling party has fascist leanings, but, not all of us support their ideologies.
Hinduism, like any other religion, is based on love and acceptance. It's not every Hindu's fault that there are some Hindu religion extremists, just as there might be Islamic/Christian/other extremists, the existence of whom IS NOT an innocent person's fault.
I believe in the philosophy of live and let live.
And I think it says a lot about you that you attack me in your anonymity, rather than facing me outright.
Your degrading slurs do not deserve a reply. This is just me making my stance on this issue clear, so that anyone else who has... accusations like this can clear the hell out of my blog and my friends' blogs.
Thank you.
Tagging @carminavulcana @1nsaankahanhai-bkr @medhasree @an-oranophobic-maniac @shaonharryandpannisim @iamnotthat who are practicing Hindus, as far as I know, and will be able to clarify it further.

sorry, a little rant/explanation of my moral philosophy
i’m going to explain/describe something that i think many vegan radfems/activists in general avoid saying because we can’t be bothered dealing with the discourse and backlash from those with differing morals:
non human animals are an oppressed class to us. they are oppressed by humans, who exploit, abuse, torture, and murder them for taste and profit in such a systematic manner that many billions of land animals are killed each year and trillions of fish are killed each year. yes, for some (i can’t speak for all) this issue occupies a similar place in our psyche as other axes of oppression. we consider all life as of equal in value, we are anti speciesism. this is a legitimate philosophical, ethical view that has existed and been discussed for centuries.
Tumblr media
as long as we’re anti all oppression and fight for other classes to be liberated, what’s the issue? we’re not comparing oppressed classes to non human animals in order to dehumanise them, the concept of dehumanisation shouldn’t exist at all to be used to oppress, because no living being that feels pain and emotion should be exploited and made to suffer, human or not. we literally just want a life free of suffering and full of happiness and opportunity for all animals, which includes humans because WE ARE ANIMALS. there is no logical reason to separate ourselves from other animals, we are no better than them, we are just different. we’re all different, and our value simply comes from our existence.
call me bigoted if you want, i know i’m not. i’m against and speak against and fight against all axes of oppression within humans, whether i’m a part of them or not, because it is morally what i should do, especially as a vegan. i just want no one to suffer. why is that portrayed as extreme or wrong or offensive? the religion of jainism is literally based on this concept of universal non harm of all living beings, this stance has existed for a VERY long time, and i’m firm in my life goal of having as large of a positive impact on the world as i can, while trying to have as little of a negative impact on the world as i can. that’s the bare bones base of my morals and everything builds from there. if you see not wanting to hurt anyone or anything as offensive because it places humans in the same category as non humans, then obviously our moral and philosophical stances aren’t aligned, but that doesn’t mean mine is wrong.
i am part of many classes/axes of oppression (female, disabled, bisexual, poor) and i feel love and kinship and empathy with all life and, to me, the only reason one would be offended by being compared to said life is if we know that we treat other life terribly and in a way that would be awful to be in that position. many times, we compare ourselves or others to animals with traits we admire and respect. yet, we have animals in a particular category that are shameful to be compared to because of their position in our societies, not because they are worth any less than us or other animals inherently.
i hope this clarifies my moral and philosophical position on this topic. it’s okay if you don’t agree, but i don’t stand for accusations or attacks or insults based on instinctive emotion and zero logical rebuke (”humans are just not the same as them!!!” is not a logical rebuke). philosophy is subjective, i’m a moral absolutist and many people aren’t. it’s fine, as long as you at least have examined why you believe what you believe, and if it has a solid logical basis.

Got this in the mail. I don't support Donald Trump, but my mother does. Her name and our address appear on the letter. I read it, and I am disgusted and terrified by what it says. This is fearmongering, conspiracy, and outright dishonesty plain and simple. I don't even know where to start.
Let's examine photograph 1, the first part of this letter. It lists names of people that Trump/Trump's administration claims will threaten the latter's recipient(s). The wording of the first claim, that Elizabeth Warren will be Secretary of the Treasury, really bothers me. "Kiss your retirement savings goodbye". That is a threat linked to E.W.'s name, and a claim of a future that is not elaborated upon in the letter. HOW would she threaten someone's retirement savings?
The next claims are worded in threatening, hyperbolic ways, but they are also directly insinuating that the people named are going to implement policies that are in direct opposition to key beliefs held by Republicans. These bullet points are specifically made to create fear in Conservatives that their government will be made socialist, that the economy will be destroyed by the "Green New Deal", and that there will be strict gun control (none of which are supported with evidence in the letter). At the end of this portion of the letter, seen at the bottom of the first photo, the letter claims that "it is a nightmare scenario that puts the 'Far-Left Elite' in charge [of the government]", and that "socialism would replace capitalism". This is all speculation at best and conspiracy at worst, especially given the idea of "Far-Left Elite", which sounds close to major conspiracy theories (such as the antisemitic "lizard people" conspiracy theory). Again, there is nothing in this letter to support these wild and hyperbolic claims.
The next portion of the letter, shown in photograph 2, is worded in a threatening way that claims to be fact when it is also unsupported speculation specifically written to make it opposed to the values common of Republicans/Conservatives. It makes the claim that taxes for the average American would be so high that they would have next to no money left for them or their families. It claims that the Biden administration has a hard-on for handing out benefits to "illegal immigrants", benefits which the letter claims to include "taxpayer-funded abortions", a direct punch at his target demographic's popularly held religious beliefs.
Turning the letter over, we get photographs 3 and 4. The very first words are underlined and bolded for emphasis: "The American Dream would die". Words like "declare war", "wither", and "gutted" are used to create a fear response in readers. Trump claims Biden will target small businesses and farmers, and that this would cause the economy to be desolate. There is also a shoe-horned threat of military weakness at the end of the paragraph, claiming that other world superpowers like China and Russia would see America as a "paper tiger" that they would "neither fear nor respect". It is implied that, in this way, those other superpowers would try to attack the USA.
The next sentence does not give the reader a choice, but rather TELLS the reader to "imagine the worst" when thinking of a Biden presidency. A few sentences later, it is claimed that "fake news" is going to write Biden's inauguration speech FOR him. Again, conspiracy not backed by any facts, at the very least not supported in-letter.
Finally, we have Trump claiming that he will personally "protect your family, your faith, your Second Amendment rights, and your hard-earned paychecks", that he will "be the guardian of all of your rights and the American ideals we hold dear". I would like to foremost address the SECOND point that he claims he will protect, being FAITH. Not only is it religion based fearmongering to say that the "faith" of an individual is threatened by any political candidate, but it is also obvious that he means Christianity here. What about Americans who aren't Christians? Will he defend Muslims? Judaism? Buddism? Pagans? No, he will defend the Conservative CHRISTIANS who SUPPORT HIM only. There is also the wording of "your hard-earned paychecks", and as we all know, flattery will get you anywhere.
Given the sentence in photograph 4, "Your past support...", I can only assume my mother has given money before. Tell me why a man as rich as Donald Trump needs money for a campaign? The letter mentions nothing about HOW the money is going to be used to help Trump or his campaign only that the contributions will "make America great". It is also written that "we will...overcome the hundreds of millions of 'dark' money and Super PAC dollars that are doing Joe Biden's 'dirty work'." Does the letter clarify WHERE this supposed "dark money" comes from? And what is "dark money"? The implication here is that Joe Biden and his company are "evil"; this also feeds into religious paranoia about an "Antichrist" or "New World Order", a belief amongst many Christian Conservatives that Satan and compatriots are trying to take over the world through a unified government. It is subtle, but definitely implied, and given that my mother is one who believes in "a New World Order" and has it DIRECTLY impact her political choices, I am NOT just pulling subtext and speculation out of my ass.
Many Conservatives see Religion and Politics as intertwined. This letter makes claims that religious faith (specifically Christian given the target audience) is being threatened by Democrats and Joe Biden's campaign. But in reality, Donald Trump is closer to an antichrist than Biden. I will not go into specifics here, but anyone who is religious or familiar with Christian religious texts (or who is unfamiliar but willing to put in a little time and research) will see exactly what I mean. I find it hilarious that the same people who claimed Obama was an antichrist figure are the same people who support Donald Trump and his heinous fear mongering and lies.
It is gravely important that we vote 💙BLUE💙 in November. Donald Trump CANNOT be allowed to have a second term. He claims that Biden will destroy freedom and the economy when Trump himself is already doing the same. Biden may not be a perfect candidate, but he is certainly better than the asshole who created this letter. I will try to speak with my mother about it and change her mind, though it may be a fruitless task. I hate conflict and try to avoid it, but this letter genuinely terrifies me. If any of your family members receive something like this, DESTROY IT. It is just a greedy, fascist man using fear and empty threats to manipulate his followers into giving him more money. Stay Safe.

30 Uncommon Character Development Questions
11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
Carter absolutely believes in evolution! She specifically believes in the primordial soup theory, as well as the first law of thermodynamics (which I covered here, albeit in the opposite direction dgfjkhsdfh). Evolution is actually something she works with quite a bit considering her line of study, since she’s often figuring out how life could survive and evolve on other planets (which I should cover at some point tbh dfshjdsfh), so it’s something she is rather passionate about, although isn’t obnoxious or rude about it if someone doesn’t share the same line of thinking
with that being said, she’s agnostic! Personally, because as far as I’m aware this hasn’t been something confirmed in canon, I headcanon that Carter grew up with a mix of Catholicism and atheism, with Obadiah being Catholic and her father being atheist. Again, I just wanna clarify, this is my personal headcanon and I don’t expect anyone to feel the same, and I honestly don’t know if religion has been established for either character! Anyway, because of that, it was... pretty tense at times if the subject of religion ever came up, and with her having plenty of questions about a supposedly loving God allowing bad things to happen, led to her being agnostic - she’s not going to attack or ridicule anyone who is religious, since she fully understands how important religion is to many people, and she doesn’t want to encourage that sort of hostile environment
she also has no issues with acknowledging she could very well be wrong about there not being a God or Gods (which, now that I think about it, probably is pretty stupid considering that, y’know, Thor is a Norse God and uhhh they’re very much so real in the MCU sdfghjsfdgjh), but overall tends to keep her line of belief to herself unless asked. She’s more than willing to listen to someone talk about their religion as long as they’re respectful (like, someone trying to use it to excuse their shitty behavior is only gonna piss her off - especially in terms of bashing other religions or different sexualities), but does prefer not to talk about it overall. It can make her uncomfortable at times, but not to the extent where she feels the need to shut down any conversation involving it
16. What are their best school subjects? What are their worst? List five of each.
her best subjects are: science (particularly biological, physical, and, of course, astronomy), music, physical education (which might be surprising to some, but Carter’s actually fairly active!), technology, and geography
her worst subjects are: English/language arts, foreign languages (her brain struggles to understand and remember even the most basic components), history, drama, and political science
29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
She does get very restless when things are too quiet!! She doesn’t mind so much being in solitude, and she’ll often play music or having a movie or show playing in the background to fill up space, but she has a hard time in silence. Her thoughts can become too loud for her to handle, especially when her mental health is low, but it also very much stems from past trauma: specifically, the night when Obadiah almost killed Tony when taking the arc reactor out of his chest
when she had woken up, things had been eerily silent in the house, and when she went downstairs to get water and investigate why, she saw someone she had trusted and looked up to trying to kill her father. After that, if things become too quiet, she gets anxious, and will snoop around to see if anyone else is there and if they’re okay. That’s actually a small part as to why she’s living at the compound! Because, if she lives alone, the constant quiet (even behind whatever background noise she plays) will become overwhelming, and the fact no one else is there can make her anxiety worse

Tumblr media
hi! have this kinda old fanart of ginjaninjaowo i never posted here as an excuse for me to drop a final clarification on this whole deal.
under the cut!
i’ll make it as short and sweet as possible. i’m not a huge fan of felix’s content, i grew out of it when he stopped gaming. i just enjoy his minecraft series because i think it’s really wholesome, and i’m glad minecraft is back. therefore, i’m tired of defending him because i have to defend him in order to defend my views. i honestly do not care about him, i just start caring when it becomes an attack on me and my choices.
felix has been friends or associated himself with controversial, right-wing people in the past like ben shapiro. let’s be clear: i don’t like ben shapiro, or most controversial figures on youtube that the majority haven’t decided are clear, if that makes sense. i’m a left-leaning lgbt agnostic korean living in a muslim country, and if i thought someone was being racist/sexist/homophobic/discriminatory against different religions, i would never support them.
i just don’t think pewds is that kind of person. he has followed people with those views in the past, and i’m disappointed in him for doing so. he has had ben shapiro on meme review, and that’s really off-putting, frankly. he’s irresponsible and stupid and doesn’t know what he’s doing in the worst way possible.
but the claims i was getting in my tumblr askbox were mostly that he himself is a nazi, a racist, etc. but he has distanced himself from those supporting that kind of view, and he himself is friends with many prominent left-leaning/left-wing figures like jack black, jacksfilms, etc.. he dropped the n-word, and i was very, very disappointed in him and because of the event, i dropped watching any of his content for a while. i was shocked when i saw the stream, and was iffy on him for a long time. but he apologised and NEVER SAID IT AGAIN. i know he’s an adult and he should have realised the significance of the word, but i personally don’t think he thought it through and thought about the actual meaning of the word before saying it, if that makes sense. his mind didn’t understand the significance of that word and passed it off as just another swear word in that fraction of a second. if he had said “chink” under the same circumstances and followed up on the issue in the same manner that he did, it would have been the same for me. i would have forgiven him in the end.
i understand why you wouldn’t like pewdiepie. he tends to say things without thinking, without realising that his actions, more so than most people, have consequences, and it can be so easy for his words to be misconstrued and to be promoting alt-right ideology. i’m still iffy on the guy myself, truthfully speaking. but not because he’s actually a nazi or racist, because he’s not. once again, if he was racist/a white supremacist, he wouldn’t have mourned etika’s death like that nor would he have been so cordial, respectful, and polite in the japan trip. all the “evidence” “proving” that he’s a nazi were all honest-to-god mistakes on his part. STUPID MISTAKES, undeniably, but NOT ON PURPOSE. therefore, he’s not a nazi, nor is he trying to intentionally spread nazi propaganda.
irresponsible, makes too many edgy jokes, naive, hung out with stupid people in the past, yes. i understand that you may be upset with him for that because i’m upset with him for that too. but don’t come at me calling him a nazi and also thinking I’M OKAY WITH NAZIS or anything like that.
i hope that clarifies things, and i hope that was worded correctly. anon asking has been turned off, because if you’re going to attack me with outrageous claims, you better be brave enough to do it to my face. i’m fine with polite discussions on controversial topics and always have been. i have a very open mind, just no patience for unbased claims.
all in all, i just enjoy a guy’s minecraft series. fucking let me be. deadass.

(Same person about luhan) Just wanted to clarify, i'm not trying to attack you in any way or anything and i ran out of characters💗💗 but wanted to explain were people were coming from. Yes people were harsh but it's understandable considering the situation for muslim people in china. People know it wasn't his fault per say and that's why many were looking for the stylist instead, but yeah wearing that really wasn't it considering how important the shahada is for muslims.
I didnt take it as you attacking me in any way (if you're talking about the initial luhan message in regards to Luhan). I'm just the kind of person who likes to bring up debatable questions. I completely understand where people are coming from in wanting to educate Luhan on why he shouldnt have worn that but I still dont believe that means they have the right to attack him or the stylist. Educate, ask both of them to be more aware and move on. Because I feel that it's not as universally recognized as other religious symbols or texts. But I still stand by my earlier question because, truth be told, religious people of all walks are prosecuted in China (I'm highly aware of the camps in China). They have their rights taken away, are jailed, and even killed. It's sad and everyone should be free to practice their religion. Circling back, religious symbols are extremely precious and deserve respect no matter which culture they come from. Make the person aware and from there it's up to them if they care enough or not.

The Qadiyani debacle of Pakistan
Let me start off with saying that I have recently realized that I am a coward. I am quite privileged in what I have in my life, what I have been able to see, able to achieve and above all able to enjoy. I might not be in the top 5% but I am still probably in a high percentile of privileged people in my country, Pakistan. I do have my disadvantages, but overall they are not anywhere near my privileges and I should admit it. Am I ashamed to have them, not at all. Me and my elders worked hard and honest for it. Perhaps, they were catching up to the damage they received by their participation in the unsuccessful “War of Independence in 1857″ or as British Raj would call, “Indian Mutiny/Rebellion” where they were found guilty and as a collective banned from buying/acquiring more land (the most common way of increasing wealth or passing it on to the next generations) and from Government jobs until pretty much into late 1930s just before independence of Pakistan. Large part of my family was even able to avoid major bloodshed (not everyone was lucky though) of 1947 migration, and we somehow got progressive access to education, our passport to posterity and then rest is history. But with all that has gone well for me, I am still a coward. When I moved back to Pakistan I decided to teach a course of “Entrepreneurship for Engineers” for three semesters as a visiting Faculty member at a large University in Lahore. It was a pleasure sharing my ideas, my experiences (especially failures) with an average class of over 300 students. Most of these were very interactive and aimed at making them not Entrepreneurs (it is a shame how we think we can make everyone next Sir Richard Branson with some degree or course) but good analytical thinkers, problem solvers, rational managers and perhaps in the process some of them the next owner of a unicorn from Pakistan. In one of my first classes I challenged the stereotypes of my students by asking them how many of them know any Jew or Qadiyani in real-life, even through a second degree connection and how many of them distrust them? Surprisingly majority of the students not having ever shared 30 minutes one-to-one with either had a very negative view of them. Interestingly, out of if I taught 800 students I remember only one girl who raised hand for knowing a Jewish person, but that’s another story. So I questioned them how they can form an opinion about someone without even knowing them? But here is the most interesting part, just 15 minutes after I was done - I realized my mistake. This guy who had recently returned from Scotland, whose accent still had a hint of rolling-Rs, has just sympathized with Qadiyanis - apparently something more dangerous than sympathizing with Jews. I had to clarify myself what my personal beliefs are, and I didn’t have to, but I did! Because yeah, I am a coward even with all that privilege.
So recently this is what has been happening in Pakistan which I would like to share in a manner of list:
Qadiyanis are non-Muslims as per Constitution of Pakistan since 1974 by a populist leader, and wait-for-it a Champion of Secular values, Mr Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Yet even after that official deceleration we do not afford them the rights of a common citizen.
Logically if they aren't Muslim the Majority faith in the country, then they ought to be a minority.
Since they are a minority then they can be part of the “Minority Commission”, a body which has no legal value except for making recommendations to the Government about state of affairs.
But now we want to say that they are not even a minority, then what are they??
Apparently to be accepted as a Minority they have admit officially that they are non-Muslim.
If we need their official deceleration, then why is our Constitution making one? Is their deceleration more powerful than our Constitution?
Our moderates, our even radicals, our Communist Awami National Party and radical Marxist (and quite supported by our friends in Kabul and their friends on our other side), PTM who all usually have nothing to do with religion are aligned against the Qadiyanis.
Apparently this whole show is being run by people who have turned Khatam-e-Nabuwat idea into a business from last two-three generations. This is the only way they have made money, name in politics and moved from not even have a bicycle to moving around in brand new 4x4 SUV which costs after taxes enough to buy a large family house in many metro areas of the country. This nation on other hand will be emotionally led into anything and everything! Just look at how many “conferences” are held under the title of “Khatam-e-nabuwat conference” in this country every month and how they are funded by getting donations from common people and virtually no accountability!
Our nation apparently negates Quran openly, doesn't understand a word of Arabic and have no respect for the Islamic traditions including shared in Surah-e-Fiel (Chapter of Elephant) and learned by almost every young Muslim kid by heart. What did grandfather of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.w. did when Abraha from Yemen attacked Macca? He locked the Kabaa, took his people and animal away and said - "Allah this is your house you can protect is the best". And here we are, trying to be executioner of things far above us! Don't we have any iman? Is our Aqeeda so weak that we cannot even save ourselves? Allah even promised protection of Quran in 15:9 but somehow we believe we can do it better.
Oh and why I am referring to them as Qadiyanis when they call themselves Ahmadia? Well for three things; that’s what my country’s constitution refers to them as, their movement arose from a place called Qadiyan in present India and finally didn’t I mention before, I am a coward?
p.s. if you are reading from India and smiling - we are doing all that what you are doing, just with slightly less everyday violence. Guess we still have common problems.

people kept saying that jello joked about trans people being hermaphrodite 5 years ago, is any of that true? i saw someone in the notes talking about it on the original post. i thought you would probably know
Before we begin my computer has witnessed a power outage AND an error code within 5 minutes and WOW have I never felt the need to scream more in my life.
Let me know if anything needs to be clarified/expanded on or is incorrect and needs to be fixed!
Onto the discourse!
The Welcome to Tumblr video was created January 2014, posted onto Jello’s official yt channel. I suggest you watch it before proceeding. Long post ahead!
Alright! The quote in question, our main suspect!
2:32-2:52
Oh, you’re back! Ah, I see you’ve added something to your facade! (Squeaky toy SFX showcasing a green sticky note with a Y, labelled ‘Vagina’ and underneath, ‘I am a hermaphrodite’). A vagina on a man is a good start, but you can’t go around calling yourself a ‘hermaphrodite’. That’s racist. What you need is a politically correct name for yourself that you can use to yell at people with. You’re not a ‘hermaphrodite’, you’re vagin-abled.
Lets bounce right into it.
A hermaphrodite is where an animal has both sex characteristics. Notably, the clownfish is a sequential hermaphrodite that changes from male to female when needed. Hermaphrodite is a pejorative, outdated term to describe intersex folks.
Intersex is where humans have both sex characteristics, internally and externally. Some people go through their lives never knowing they’re intersex. It’s full of genetics and all that jazz, and I’m not nearly qualified to talk about this, so I suggest you head over to the ISNA to learn more about it.
Anyway, the video is a satirical piece that is supposed to make fun of ‘SJW’s and the radical feminism/inclusionism of passive-aggressive folks on 2014 tumblr. I wasn’t around for that, so I can only witness this post-happening.
SO! Trans people and intersex. There’s a lot of differences here, and better definitions and questions on ISNA. I’ll try to keep it simple:
Trans folks are, for the most part(I’ll get to that in a moment), physically aligned with their assigned gender at birth. However, they experience doubt and dysphoria over that. Its a mind vs body type.
Intersex folks are not aligned with their assigned gender at birth!
Both can use surgery/testosterone/estrogen to align themselves as they please, which is why some intersex folks consider themselves trans! There’s definitely a line that defines the two, but for the most part, they’re separate identities that cross paths every now and then.
Onto the next part.
The ‘vagina on a man’ part can absolutely be interpreted as transphobic, if its taken slightly out of context. The video itself is the context, and focusing on that part alone and not the video as a whole counts it towards being transphobic.
Some parts of the video just didn’t age well, but here’s the thing: it’s supposed to be satire, comedic, and not meant to be taken seriously.
So, answering your question: was jello making fun of trans people and saying they’re hermaphrodites/not true guys/gals/nb, and is any of that true?
Answer? Yes-ish? In a sense. He was making fun of the 2014 shitshow of tumblr, the pitchforks and mobs if you didn’t show enough respect. The radical political correctness and SJWs was what he was aiming at. He wasn’t basing the entire video on digging at and hurting any selective group, he was showing how random people on the internet will chase people down over anything and everything.
Certain parts didn’t translate well, most other parts did! Remember, it was a satirical take, and while not one of my favorite videos, it definitely flew right over people’s heads. You kinda had to scrape off the face-value to see the context underneath, and analysing it made it easier to see the comedic effect Jello was trying to get.
It was ALSO almost 6 years ago. The dude has a series based on AC that he did with his friends that is already a diverse world.
People want him to take WTT down and apologize, but... he doesn’t have to take it down. Its a somewhat relevant, somewhat poorly aged satirical cartoon he meant for people to laugh at. People took it seriously and, while the quote I’ve been talking about can be taken as transphobic, if you look at the piece as a whole, its purely attacking the 2014 assholes.
((Ok, so now that’s over: political correctness, feminism, and SJWs are a whole can of worms and again, I’m only gonna continue repeating this: be kind. It doesn’t hurt to be respectful towards people’s race, religion, gender, orientation, etc. Just be kind.))
Onto the rest of the video!
WTT is still somewhat relevant, considering portions of it. (still not a fan of the trigger portion, but that’s for another day and I’m tired)
1:22-2:30 is still true! Check your sources kids! Also, the part of ‘if you don't reblog you’re heartless!’ It’s like those chain letters of ‘if you don’t send this to 20 people then SHE’LL be in ur room at 3am tonight’. I hate seeing those. There are absolutely people on here that are self-diagnosing and are almost always incorrect in their ‘diagnosis’. If you want a diagnosis, please go to an actual doctor and not a stranger on the internet, or even TRUST what half the info you see says. The facts/symptoms on tumblr are so out of proportion and sometimes aren’t even ‘facts’.
That’s all I’ve got for WTT, but there’s a couple other takes I think would help form a better understanding:
@hotfox69‘s long take. While I don’t agree with it wholeheartedly, it makes a lot of really, really good points.
@themightylorax had a small take on it. I can’t tell when this was created, but 2014 Tumblr was garbage. It was not a safe place, and the people defending it as a ‘safe place’ knew it wasn’t. It’s just a little better now, but there are still pitchfork-wielding people out on the platform.
@kingofdersecest has a cursing and somewhat vulgar take, and while I don’t agree with parts of it, it surrounds the rest of the video and simplifies it down into what Jello was jabbing at.
Tl;Dr: Jello’s Welcome to Tumblr didn’t age well in certain aspects, and while some of it is relevant today, a lot of it was focused on the overly political correctness of 2014 tumblr and the radical feminism and inclusionism that took place. It was also made 6 years ago. The quote in question can absolutely be taken as transphobic out of context, though it was directed as a satirical take on the aggressive people of 2014 tumblr.
