tips on how to be more positive?
☆ quit self-deprecation, even if you're just joking around. it's not a "coping mechanism", it's mental self-harm, and it is fully a choice we can either make or refuse. the words you use to describe yourself are so powerful, like magic, and they'll solidify into reality and into everyone's perception, including your own. if you use harsh and negative words to talk about yourself and your actions, this is how the universe will reflect on you, and the other way around is true: if you talk about yourself with positive and constructive words, everyone and the universe will also reflect that. nobody will save you from your own self, and if you are prone to self-deprecation, you'll find that other people - toxic, mean people - will feel free to not only use the same language towards/about you, but also take this energy into their actions. you have to be the first person to stand up for you, to keep you safe, to hype you up and to showcase the good in you; ☆
☆ don't take anything for granted. don't forget how lucky you are to be alive, safe, to be able to drink clean water and eat tasty food and sleep on a clean and warm bed. I've talked about this a lot on another post the other day (I'll add the link at the end of this text). over time, we tend to forget that some of the things that make up our daily lives are not the standard for everyone, and it's easy to ignore that these are still, unfortunately, rare privileges. remembering that these things could easily not be a part of your life can keep you more grounded and make little actions seem like a big event; ☆
☆ observe the world around you more than the world of others. social media can be fun and cool and a good window into the live of people you would otherwise never connect with (like what's happening right now, me writing and you reading this), but it can and usually is one of the biggest distractions from the beauty, the hope, the good, the bliss, the joy that is around us. it is so easy to get lost in the little perfect snippets of life that other people share and to forget that you too can find perfection and absolute happiness in things like a ray of sun or a nice breeze or an unusually shaped rock on the street or a funny thing you overhear on the train or seeing an elderly couple holding hands on your way to school. you don't have to isolate yourself from screens or virtual reality, but you have to train your senses to be more aware of your surroundings than of the screen on your hand; ☆
☆ remember, always, that there's only the present moment. the same energy that you put into rummaging through painful memories or worrying about a painful future can be put into reminiscing joyful memories and fantasizing about a joyful future, and they have the exact same practical effect: they're just exercises of imagination. the past will always be a blurry picture of a picture of a picture that you'll never be able to fully access again, no matter how vividly you try to attach yourself to the memory, and the future will always be just a sophisticated dream. you can spend energy on deteriorated or make-believe stories in the back of your head, but while you do that, reality right in front of your eyes is passing by with all its rollercoastery emotions and so much glory and bliss and peace. you'll never save your younger self and you'll never predict your older self, but you can protect and nurture your current self, right now, with whatever it is that is already within your reach. you don't have to forget or become anything other than yourself in order to be happy, right now. if you focus and exercise self-discovery at every available moment, you'll find out what are the tools you already have to be happy; ☆
oh, and eat lots of fruit ♡

Hey hey hey! I've said this on twitter but I'll explain my rules regarding how people can use my Art here. I can go into a little more detail.
Alright so this is mainly in regards to like comic dubs and profile pictures and the like so here we go.
What you can do!! And I also encourage :]:
- Make comic dubs of my works! So long as you clearly credit and link me that's absolutely fine!! Also make sure to tag me in some way so I can watch it too!!! I would love to see them.
- Use my Artwork as your profile picture! Seeing my Art in people's pfps literally makes me squeal and kick my legs with joy. As long as you credit me in your bio you are free to do so! (I suppose this also extends to banners? Go ahead! Same rules apply)
- Now this is the only time I'll say this, and this is the only context I'll allow it. You may edit my work ONLY if it is to be used for a profile picture. You can add hearts or flags or text to my work ONLY if you use it as your pfp, that's it. Otherwise just the pfp rules apply.
- Oh!! I thought of something else! If you want to use my art in edits or.. are they called fancams now? Whatever, you can! So long as you credit me in someway in the video itself.
- Oh yes! If you want to draw my designs for anything go right ahead! This could be my Outertale Mew Mew, DR Asriel, Knight Papyrus etc. I would love to see your silly drawings! Make sure to tag me so I can see :]!!
Alright so now onto the things I dont want done with my art:
- Reposting it to other social media sites. You know those instagram accounts that mass repost artwork? Yeah, I hate those and I dont want my work reposted. I seriously believe those accounts do not help artists and if I see my Art reposted I will ask you to take it down.
- Editing my work. With the exclusion of the pfp rule or if I have explicitly said it can be edited, do not edit my work in any way. Especially if it's being changed to be nsfw or offensive in anyway. Idk if people do this but I thought I'd cover my bases. Dont do this.
- I think this should go without saying, and I doubt there are any actual techbros on here but again, covering my bases. Do not use my work for NFTs or AI Art. Just don't do it. Nuff said.
Alright I think that's it. Please consider these boundaries if you're going to use my work 🙏. Thank you and I give you all a little kiss.

PSA real quick: Don’t buy art advice
I’m not talking about art tutorials or like supporting a tier on someone’s patreon to get feedback or stuff like that, that’s a different thing. This is also not about going to art school.
What I am talking about is stuff like online courses and books that people sell on topics like secrets to growing your art instagram, making loads of passive money off your work, stuff like that. It’s fake.
I’ve seen a disturbing amount of them appear which is why I’m making this PSA. There is no secret to growing your art instagram or making passive money off your art or kickstarting your freelance carreer. If the tips are legit, it’s out there for free if you look for it. We are already talking about it because we’re already doing it. People making these courses and selling these books are only sharing stuff you can already google yourself. These people are rarely making their livings as artists themselves, instead they’re just doing the art world version of get rich quick schemes, they’re praying on your passions and selling you advice that is either already publicly available, unhelpful or even just false.
I’ll give you some advice for free, kay?
Improving your art:
First and foremost working on improving your art should always be priority and you can find tutorials on any subject matter for free pretty much anywhere if you just google stuff like “how to draw a cloud”. Your art is what people will want to buy/see so keep improving it and keep making it if your goals is to build a carreer or an audience, there is no way around it.
Growing your audience
Straight up just engage with whichever app/site you’re using. Post good art yourself, but be a cheerleader for others first and foremost. Post consistently, not constantly, use appropriate tags, talk about your work in your descriptions and engage with people who engage with you. That stuff is in your control, the rest is honestly just luck. For some people it takes a long time, for others it’s a faster progress, there is no secret here, no one knows how to please the algorithm, we’re all just throwing crumbs out and hoping it gets eaten. Bots and promo bots will do more harm than good and spamming other people’s accounts asking them to check you out or tagging someone in your art that’s completely unrelated to them is just annoying. Just chill and post your art and have fun. Remember that social media should ‘t be a popularity contest, it should be social.
Making money
There are so many ways! I don’t even know half the ways and it depends what you want to achieve really. You can make money selling commissions, you can try to get a job at some sort of company, at which there are many who’d want to employ artists, games, films, animation, marketing, marketing departments in companies that otherwise do completely unrelated stuff, I’ve heard of an artist working fulltime at a science lab. There is room for you, you just need to find your industry. You can also license your work which is where the passive income comes in and there are a bunch of ways to do this too google it. You can be an illustrator for books or magazines, you can be a cartoonist for a paper, you can do logos or t-shirt designs and you can work freelance as pretty much whatever you want. It’s not going to be easy finding these jobs and most people do several jobs at once. It takes time to build up clientell and find your opportunities but a good place to start is straight up just googling “how to license my art” or “how to become a concept artist” or just straight up “how to make money as an artist.” It’s all out here.
I don’t have all the answers at hand and I’m too busy looking for all the resources for you. I bet other people will happily provide links and stuff, so feel free to share resources! My point id just this:
Everything is out there for free, google it.

So I came across your recent publishing on Tumblr's "popular reblogs" Tab, and maybe you won't have an answer to this at all or maybe you've already mentioned this, but I've wondered about this for years.
If an author (or Amazon) puts an ebook on sale for free on Amazon, does purchasing the ebook help the author at all or any more or less than purchasing it at a higher price point at a different time? Is it more done as a promotional tool to drive people to read it and rate/review?
And--if you feel like it--if someone is using Amazon as a reader, what 'best practices' should they consider to benefit the authors they love?
Hello! Thanks for the thoughtful ask.
You are correct in assuming that sometimes authors put works up for free on Amazon as a promotional tool. They do not earn anything from these "sales" but instead hope to gain traction and interest in any future or already existing works in their catalog.
This also helps them as, despite the lack of monetary gain from the individual book, it does boost their sales rankings, which can majorly influence how the Amazon algorithm interacts with their work.
If the book is later re-released for actual sale (sometimes with a different cover/minor edits) and you enjoyed the book, buying it again "for real" can be a really nice gesture, even though a lot of authors likely won't expect it.
As for how to be a good Amazon reader: review, review, review!
Entire author careers can live and die on reviews. Even if you don't write anything, just leaving a star rating can really help how likely we are to get future sales and how the algorithm views us. This is especially true when you are an author writing for a marginalized audience, where the algorithm unofficially suppresses promoting certain things over others. Things I write as a queer romance author are often subjected to a higher level of scrutiny by the censors at Amazon than het-romance authors. So not only do we often get knocked back more often for review during the publishing process, but we can also really struggle to gain traction afterward. Reviews help with this. GoodReads is also owned by Amazon, so posting to GoodReads can be a really good way of boosting our traction.
Also, post about us on social media and tell all your friends! So many of my organic sales come from fans telling friends or posting about my work on Twitter/Tumblr (and I'm sure probably Facebook, but I don't log in there to check, lol.) so please never underestimate the power of word of mouth when it comes to supporting the authors you love.
Most authors also use affiliate links in an attempt to earn back what we lose in fees to Amazon. If the author has direct Amazon links on their website, consider using those instead of just searching them out on the search engine, as they are likely using an affiliate link, and every penny we can claw back from Amazon really helps.
You can also "follow" our profiles on Amazon to keep up to date with any new work as soon as it launches, so if, for whatever reason, you don't see our social media posts, you'll always know when we post new works because you'll get an email notification. Pre-orders can also help us get onto New Release/Bestseller lists, which also massively boosts our traction with the algorithm and also promotes us to a wider range of readers who might otherwise never see us, so if you're able, pre-ordering can really help too!
You'd be right if that sounds like a lot of algorithm talk. But unfortunately, that's the capitalist hellscape we live in.
Anyway, thanks again for asking. I hope it is helpful!

quick "about me" post
I'm pro-fiction, pro-kink, pro-bodily autonomy, and a radical inclusionist (NOT r.adqueer).
Most people just call me Tired or Error, either one is fine. I'm fine with being referred to with any neutral pronouns.
Anon is always on for my inbox; if you send a message off anon and want it responded to privately, include that in the ask please, otherwise everything gets posted.
I almost never answer DMs on here. Mutuals and people who interact with me frequently can ask for my discord off anon, but I go on long isolation sprees where I just do not talk to people. It's not you, it's me. Sorry!
You all have blanket permission to use anything I post as inspiration for fics/art/whatever. You don't need to ask me if it's okay or give me credit, but if you want to shoot me a link to the finished product, it would make me happy.
I'm not on any other social media except an aethy I don't really use (@tired_fandom_ndn). Anyone claming to have interacted with me on twitter, instagram, tiktok, etc is lying.
I'm NDN/Native. No, you do not need to know my tribe. Yes, I will absolutely call you out on cultural appropriation and racism.

2023 FFXV Kudos & Comments Event - January 15 to 21, 2023
TL;DR: Leave kudos and comments on FFXV fanworks that slipped through the cracks.
What Is This?
Inspired by the Zero Comment Challenge, the goal of this event is to search for FFXV fanworks on AO3 that don’t have any (or that have very few) kudos/comments and leave kudos/comments for the creators. There are over 33,000 FFXV fanworks on AO3, and there are undoubtedly many works that slipped through the cracks, especially on fast-moving days.
So we’re going to unearth these hidden gems and give them a little love!
How Can I Participate?
Option 1: Kudos
Go to the FFXV tag on AO3 and apply whatever filters you need to enjoy your experience. Then sort by Kudos and go to the very last page. Check out any works that appeal to you, and leave a kudos when you’re finished. That’s all!
Option 2: Comment
Go to the FFXV tag on AO3 and apply whatever filters you need to enjoy your experience. Then sort by Comments and go to the very last page. Check out any works that appeal to you, and leave a comment when you’re finished. The comment can be emojis, keyboard smashes, “extra kudos,” calling attention to details you particularly liked, or even live-blogging your reaction. (If the creator has comments turned off, go ahead and just leave a kudos!)
Option 3: Recommend
Did you find something while doing Option 1 or Option 2 that you particularly enjoyed? Share the link on your favorite social media platforms! If you’re on tumblr or twitter, use #ffxvkudos on your rec posts. (NSFW recs are fine!)
Please be courteous and include title, author, pairing/relationship, rating, and mandatory archive warnings in any recs you make. Providing screenshots from AO3 may be easiest. If you do use screenshots, please add ALT text! This account will try to reblog all of the recs.
Option 4: Boost
Don’t have time to participate fully in the event? Please retweet, reblog, and otherwise share other people’s recommendations!
Questions?
Please send an ask if you have any questions.

Are you okay with people using, reposting or editing your art with proper credits? :3
(I'm sorry if this has been asked, I can't find anything mentioning this!)
Thank you for asking 🧡
Hmmm I think it depends a bit of the case? I think you here have good intentions, but since "using" is very broad term I'm going to answer kind of broadly here and not just yes/no in case someone else would refer to this ask at another context.
So, all of my works are copyrighted under Finnish/EEA copyright laws. The copyright is created and valid automatically from the moment of creation of the art piece (and it also includes sketches I've posted on Patreon, for example). My answers are based on those copyright laws and on my personal preferences within those.
(under cut as this got long)
USING: I'm ok with most personal use. That is, for example, printing out a single image for personal use or using a picture on your blog header or as personal playlist (spotify etc) cover art AS LONG as it is not a piece commissioned by someone else.
If you own a print you have ordered from me, you have also right to display it publicly (i.e. posting a photo of it). Owning a print doesn't however mean that you get right to print more copies for sale.
I'm not ok with my art used in buyable products or copies of my art sold by others than those I've individually authorized. I have copyright even to commissioned pieces, so even those cannot be used in products without my consent. If you'd like to use my art on products/covers or otherwise do some kind of collaboration, send me an email at artharakka(at)gmail.com and we can discuss prices and royalties.
REPOSTING (public display): Usually I'd say I prefer people reblogging (through the little arrows at the bottom of the post) rather than reposting it (meaning making your own original post with it). If you'd like to post it on other social media sites besides tumblr, I do have Instagram (also @ artharakka) where I post my art and I'd prefer if no new art of mine ends up on twitter/x/whatever.
However, if you'd like to do a collab of my art or with my art, to do reference/shoutout post or a moodboard for your characters etc., I'm ok with reposting as long as I'm mentioned as the artist. Though here you are also bound by the laws' moral obligations which means no putting my art "in context that could be offensive to the artist" (very broad and case by case point but I bet mocking me is not your intention)
I'm also ok with using my art in noncommercial contexts i.e. as figures in articles or school projects.
EDITING: I'm ok with most edits, again, as long as it isn't offensive to me. (And offensive meaning mostly not aiming to mock me or use in contexts that would show me in bad light, but also don't draw smut of my characters without asking). Im ok with, for example, removing a background from some piece, but in that case you have to remember that I still own the copyright. If the edit / modification of the idea is original enough, it might become it's own piece with own copyrights (again, I don't own themes or ideas and sometimes I also borrow compositions/themes from older art).
TLDR: I'm ok with most things not offensive and that you don't aim to earn money with. Credit is welcome and I prefer as direct link as you can provide. Commissioned pieces are off limits without the commissioner's consent.
For individual case questions you can send me message, email or another ask!

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
March 26, 2024
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
MAR 27, 2024
At about 1:30 this morning, local time, the Dali, a 985-foot (300 m) container ship operating under a Singapore flag, struck the steel Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, that spans the lower Patapsco River and outer Baltimore Harbor. The bridge immediately collapsed.
Eight maintenance workers were on the bridge repairing potholes when the ship hit. Two were rescued from the water, but the other six remain missing. Search and rescue operations were complicated by twisted metal and debris from the collapsed bridge. This evening, the Coast Guard called off its search. Tomorrow morning, divers will begin recovery efforts.
It is possible there were motorists on the bridge, too, but fewer than there might otherwise have been. Crew members issued a “Mayday” call—an internationally recognized word meaning distress—that Maryland police heard. At 1:27, police radio recorded an officer saying a ship had lost control of its steering as it approached the bridge, and to stop traffic and evacuate the area. There were cars submerged in the water, but they may have belonged to the construction workers.
The loss of the bridge will tangle traffic and disrupt supply chains. Named for the Maryland lawyer who in 1814 wrote the poem that became the national anthem, the Francis Scott Key bridge carries I-695, the Baltimore Beltway, and is used by about 30,000 people a day.
The Port of Baltimore is one of the nation’s largest shipping hubs, especially for both imports and exports of cars and light trucks. About 850,000 vehicles go through that port every year. So does more than 20% of the nation’s coal exports. In 2023 the port moved a record-breaking $80 billion worth of foreign cargo. Now the shipping lane is closed and must be cleared of debris.
“There is no question this will be a major and protracted impact on supply chains,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said from Baltimore today.
Perhaps learning from the 2023 East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment, when the government response was fast but quiet and thus opened a window for right-wing complaints they weren’t doing enough, the administration was out front today. Buttigieg rushed to the scene from a trip out West, and Maryland governor Wes Moore told reporters Buttigieg had called him at 3:30 am, just two hours after the crash.
By around 6:00 am, the National Transportation Safety Board already had a team of 24 people on the scene to launch an investigation into the cause of the collision.
Speaking today, President Joe Biden said: “I’ve directed my team to move heaven and earth to reopen the port and rebuild the bridge as soon as…humanly possible. And we’re going to work hand in hand…to support Maryland, whatever they ask for. And we’re going to work with our partners in Congress to make sure the state gets the support it needs. It’s my intention that federal government will pay for the entire cost of reconstructing that bridge, and I expect…the Congress to support my effort.”
Former member of President Obama’s 2012 campaign Jason Karsh noted Biden’s speech and said on social media: “[B]ecause Biden got infrastructure spending done for the first time in over a generation, and because [Pennsylvania] was able to rebuild that bridge that collapsed in record time, Dem[ocrat]s have the credibility to say things like this. Competence in government matters.”
It remains far too soon for any solid understanding of what caused the deadly crash.
Despite the impossibility of solid information in the hours immediately after the collision—or perhaps because of it—verified accounts on X (formerly Twitter) began spreading conspiracy theories. They posted that the accident was linked to terrorism, Jewish people, or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. “Did anti-white business practices cause this disaster?” one posted. Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones wrote that the collision was “deliberate” and that “WW3 has already started.”
Technology reporter Taylor Lorenz, who studies social media patterns, explained in the Washington Post that many of these accounts are “engagement farming.” This is the practice of posting extremist comments to generate attention, which can then be monetized by, for example, getting a cut of advertising that appears near those comments. Comments with heavy engagement can receive thousands of dollars.
For a long time now, America’s political right has riled people up with wild political rhetoric to get them to buy stuff. Just today, Trump began to hawk Bibles for $59.99, plus shipping and handling, with a video message saying “Religion and Christianity are the biggest things missing from this country, and I truly believe we need to bring them back…. That’s why our country’s going haywire—we’ve lost religion in our country.”
That system appeared to be in play as Trump supporters apparently flocked to today’s public offering of the Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind the Truth Social app, sending the stock upward 16%. That surge would value the company at more than $7 billion, although in the first nine months of last year it had only about $3 million in sales and lost nearly $50 million. Julian Klymochko, founder and CEO of Accelerate Financial Technologies, told NPR’s Rafael Nam that the $7 billion valuation “is completely detached from any sort of fundamentals.”
Buying stock in the company is “more of a political movement or just a speculative meme stock [a stock driven by social media] that’s completely detached or unrelated to the underlying business fundamentals of Truth Social,” Klymochko said.
As well as convincing supporters to buy products, extremist rhetoric can push them toward violence. Yesterday, John Keller, the head of a Department of Justice task force set up to protect election workers, told reporters Trump’s lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen has put the U.S. in a “new era” in which election workers are “scapegoated, targeted, and attacked.”
Today, on his social media network, Trump attacked individuals related to his upcoming election interference case. He lashed out at one of the prosecutors on Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg’s staff who previously worked for the Justice Department; Judge Juan Merchan, the judge in his upcoming criminal case for election interference; and the judge’s daughter. Of the judge and his daughter, Trump told his angry followers: “These COUNTRY DESTROYING SCOUNDRELS & THUGS HAVE NO CASE AGAINST ME. WITCH HUNT!”
Legal analyst Joyce White Vance of Civil Discourse called out Trump’s “rank effort at intimidating the judge by threatening his family,” which she said “merits a gag order but also serious pushback from [Republican] leadership—which we know won't come.”
Republican leadership indeed stayed quiet, but the judge noted Trump’s pattern of using  “threatening, inflammatory, [and] denigrating” statements against individuals in his legal cases and placed a gag order on him. Merchan noted that in the past, Trump’s statements had intimidated the individual targeted and required them to hire protection.
Trump can still talk about Merchan or Bragg, but he cannot comment on any attorney, court staff member, or family member of prosecutors or lawyers. He can’t make statements about any potential or actual juror.
Other news today suggests that Americans outside the MAGA bubble are turning against the poisonous politics that appeals to fear and hatred so its perpetrators can gain money or power.
The outrage over NBC’s hiring of former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel was so strong that today the chair of NBC News, Cesar Conde, emailed staff to tell them he had “decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor.” McDaniel had trafficked in lies to support Trump and had worked with him to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
When the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine today, observers thought the justices seemed inclined to back away from the decision of extremist antiabortion judge Matthew Kacsmaryk taking the abortion drug mifepristone off the market. Antiabortion activists have long sought to ban abortion nationwide, but a strong majority of Americans support reproductive rights and have made their wishes known at the ballot box.
Voters’ frustration with the extremists who have captured the Republican Party appeared to be behind the results in today’s special election for a seat in the Alabama legislature. There, voters in a swing district elected a Democrat, who ran on protecting abortion access, to replace a Republican. In 2022 that Democrat, Marilyn Lands, won about 45% of the vote. Today she won almost 65% of it.

Same anon as genderpunks/718697907650461696/ (why did Tumblr remove the ability for anons to use links in asks, it sucks), and actually yeah people here (and every social media frankly) are just weird about lighter skinned / "white passing" mixed people in general huh? Like, I've straight up seen people say that "if you're white passing, you shouldn't claim to be a person of colour"... and man it's really not as simple as they act
Sure, my skin is certainly quite a bit lighter than my late nan and some other family members, but that doesn't magically make me immune to racism. A white supremacist is still able to easily figure out I'm not white because of my facial features and incredibly curly hair, nevermind the fact my skin is still not as light as a large percentage of white people. And I'm not just talking outta my ass here, I've had far too many incredibly bad and/or suspicious experiences for it to just be a one-off or coincidence (hell, I went to a small primary school where basically everyone else was white, and the teachers would just... target me for everything and I was under the "troublesome" pupil program almost all my time there)
IDK, people need to take a step back and 1) stop acting like light skinned people and people who are otherwise disconnected from their racial heritage are magically immune to oppression, and 2) realise that people of colour have existed in Europe for centuries, and that we're victims of horrific shit happening and erasure. Europe isn't "just white people", that's just what the white supremacists who have tried to get rid of us want you to think
i literally couldn't have said it better, myself, u are so right on the money!
what ppl can't seem to grasp is y'all can only see glimpses of what's happening in the present. but when i was a kid, the white side of my family kept telling me i needed to get chemical hair straightening, because my hair was "ugly" and "needed to be fixed". my mom told me nonstop, up and down that it was "wrong". stylists still to this day ask me if i want my hair to be thinned, because i "must be so miserable with all that hair on my head".
my mom would spend hours telling me how "ugly" she found my dad and grandma's deep set eyes, hooded brows, dark eye circles, dark eyes, thick curly hair, and deep olive skin were. she would tell me how ugly these things were on me, but then tell me she was glad at least i turned out looking mostly like her.
i have been treated like shit since i was a kid for having a big nose, because "girls can't have big noses" and "my nose was too masculine for my face" and that my nose is "ugly" and "unsightly." i've been told up and down my entire life that i was "too ugly to be a girl" and just in general "ugly as hell" for, again, my deep-set eyes, hooded brow, dark eye circles, and whatever other features are not white enough for people.
thank you so much. like you said, just because we're light skinned doesn't magically make us immune to racism.
thank u for sending this. i am sorry you have been targeted for literally no reason other than your race by your fucking school... i hope things get a bit better for you here on out. i hope u have an amazing week, take care

Okay, not to be a shill, but. My job is hiring. They seem to be going hard on hiring, starting up social media accounts to try to reach people.
But they aren't reaching out on Tumblr, which is a shame, because this is The Autism Website and the Otherwise Neurodivergent Website and the Chronic Illness/Disability website, and it really seems like these communities should have first dibs which is why I'm posting.
Do you like mildly repetitive tasks? Do you wanna sit at your computer and Do The Thing and maybe you don't talk to your coworkers and that's fine? (Or you can if you want!) Do you like working from home, for as many or as few or as variable whenever hours as you want/are able to?
The website ( https://dataannotation.tech/ ) says $15-$20+/hr. I suspect if they're phrasing it that way they have their reasons and I shouldn't say differently but look, I am making gestures and emphatic tones of voice and eyebrow-waggles at that +, okay?
The catches: 1) Standard gig-economy catch that it's no benefits, etc. 2) They're currently only hiring in US/UK/Canada/Australia/NZ/Ireland, but other folks can still sign up and be in the system for later. 3) It's AI. It's not the most famous name in AI, but some of the projects are for Big Tech Companies. I know folks have Strong Feelings about AI, and there have been a few projects that I've passed on. So I'm being upfront.
My experience with the job:
Sign up. Tell them about your skills, but it doesn't have to be a whole resume-ass thing, just "I have xyz interesting knowledge and skills" -- like if you have a degree, or that you like to write, or whatever. Take a qualification test.
Waaaaaait. Maybe you don't get in (and then they don't message you, which does suck of them). Maybe you do! Then you have a dashboard and it'll have links to things you can do (and what they pay, hourly or per-task). And there's a Slack for some of the projects, that's about half asking questions and half "look at this ridiculous thing the AI did."
For me, right now, they are all some variation of "give the AI a task/ask it a question; select the better answer." Sometimes there's "help us make training data for the AIs." Sometimes there are more qualification tests to get into more projects.
Record how much time you spend, report it, wait for them to validate the time (~1 week).
Cash out with Paypal.
Ask questions and I'll try to answer!

hi! i’m slowly getting interested in f1 but i don’t really know how to start. so i was wondering if you had any content to recommend (except for the races of course) to get into the fandom, or anything else that could help, really.. thanks :)
oh anon i would love to help!!! are there any drivers/teams you're already particularly fond of or things you want to learn more about? i feel like it'd be easier to narrow down content if i understood your interests better since it's really something you can mold entirely to your own tastes and there are a million different ways to Enjoy and Consume the sport LOL. tbh i call myself an f1 fan but i mostly just rep oscar and in reality enjoy junior formulae more as a whole because i find the process of getting to f1 more intriguing than actually being in it... so it's really whatever you make of it! i'll try to divide my notes categorically so hopefully that helps a little bit but lmk if there's anything specific you're looking for :') and as always apologies in advance for my rambling 💔
getting into the actual sport
having a baseline understanding of the sport is obviously useful but i'm not sure how much you already know so i'll assume you can find super basic info about how seasons and points work! if you want to delve just a Bit further then:
i think chain bear is a decent youtube channel for easy explanations on some technical aspects and little things you may not have picked up on yet that will help when watching races
drive to survive is of course Not Great but it can be a nice and quick window into learning names and faces, even if a lot of it is ridiculously simplified or overexaggerated. it's basically like using duolingo for learning a new language in that it should be regarded as a semi-reliable supplemental material readily packaged for convenient consumption. if there are specific drivers you're interested in you can always pick and choose eps to consume decent Background Lore for, e.g. you can just watch s1e8 if you're a sharl fan
honestly not to shill for official f1 media but i do think f1tv is a pretty decent streaming platform when getting into the sport... definitely not saying you should subscribe to it (if it's even available in your country!) but just as an aside and maybe for future reference i do believe it's very friendly for new watchers because live races have different feeds that let you track race data (gaps, tyre usage, granular sector data during quali, etc.) and it also lets you switch between driver onboards which can be cool. moreover it has pre-race/post-race shows, technical analyses, archives of past seasons, all the f2/f3 content, documentaries, etc. so it's a pretty complete package! although a good amount of stuff gets x-posted to the official youtube channel so it's not a big deal
if you like podcasts, i think beyond the grid is cool because it has a fun variety of interviews (current drivers, retired drivers, tps, engineers, etc.) about both past and current events so you can basically seek out whatever you're interested in learning more about. otherwise i don't really listen to f1 podcasts regularly because i have weirdly low patience for them compared to hockey, but my friend told me that shift+f1 does yearly primers so that could be something useful to check out! (here's the 2023 season preview, i haven't checked it out but i thought i'd link anyway)
keeping up with news
obviously an important part of fandom is trying to keep up with current affairs, so if you haven't already then i would of course follow the f1 youtube channel + twitter account (or whatever other social media you use), f1 nowadays is extremely effective at marketing itself so it's not like hockey where you're fighting for your life waiting for the unfunniest puck personality video in existence to drop every 8 months. not that all f1 driver content is necessarily funny but there's probably a touch more investment in maintaining the illusion! anyway.
if you use reddit then r/formula1 is honestly probably the best aggregate source of f1 news and up-to-date info, i don't read everything there but it's pretty useful and easy to navigate. plus sometimes when i want to cause myself irreparable psychic damage from something that already pissed me off i can venture into a 500-comment section to get my blood boiling even more... 10/10 would recommend
other than that it's really like — follow official channels for any other drivers or teams you're fond of tbh, i do have a few motorsports journalists in my twitter list but since i respect the fact that some people don't enjoy endless news spam i'd maybe just recommend chris medland if you want a succinct live feed during races for the moment? f1 journalism is kind of godless so you don't *need* to follow that many reporters on a whole.
driver personality content
unfortunately i'll be showing my age when i say i don't have a tiktok account but now that i think about it that's probably a great source of information because it seems like f1 fandom is thriving over there!!! regardless the official f1 youtube does have a lot of little driver personality videos you can watch to get to know them more, and again i'd recommend checking out official team + driver channels for more tailored longform content. for ex just from very recent mcl fan pov they have an unboxed series with behind the scenes of select races and also loads of fun minigame content; every team should have at least SOMETHING to nibble on but certain teams are definitely more marketing-savvy than others (aka big 3 + mcl) 🥲
official f1: f1 has a yearly series called grill the grid with just mini quizzes that all the drivers compete in, some are less interesting but it's overall not bad content. the channel has a playlist for the 2021 gtgs which includes the iconic sebvettel world champion video LOL... actually if you sort the f1 channel by Most Viewed there are probably some fun classic videos in there (looking now it's a lot of crashes but you can ignore those lol), like press conference highlights and other convenient top 10 lists. for a random rec i was just nostalgically revisiting the 2019 rookie of the year video and it was getting to me a little bit!
sky sports f1 will also occasionally have good interview/inside content that you can check out, a lot of it is geolocked though (same with canal+ content in france). but for example i felt so much experiencing this random alex interview from last week... he is truly guy of this world
fan compilations: again if there are any drivers you like then you can just search up their names and there will be a ton of comps with Funny MomentsTM, sometimes it helps to just pick a guy and see how you feel about him as you consume content because your true interests will organically develop and surface eventually... sorry i feel like i'm writing a manifesto on fandom in general which is definitely not what you asked for LOL. but like twitch quartet (aka charles, george, alex, and lando) have a ton of silly streaming highlights you can find on youtube, lando has a gaming company called quadrant that he does videos with which can be uhhh hit or miss depending on how much you enjoy Lad Culture, etc...
really it's so easy to get hyperspecific with content once you pick a team or driver so i'm not sure what else to recommend on a general level but that's what i've got off the top of my head! fandom definitely skews a lot toward rb/merc/fer/mcl so it's easiest to consume both video content and fic for them, but if you're willing to go trawling for interviews then you can really get invested in anyone... fandom culture also varies so wildly depending on how you follow the sport and which drivers you invest in emotionally. my closest friend is a "chirlie" as they say and it really is an experience rife with organizational trauma and TFW You're Beholden To The Stranglehold Of Your Legacy so that's always a great pick if you're craving maximum narrative evisceration, or if you're in it for the fic then you could literally just get really into maxiel, but i'm basically chilling in my land of rookie stonks and sit down to watch non-mcl content maybe once a month.
honestly i only follow like 3.5 f1 fans on tumblr because i'm objectively terrified by the size of the fandom HLSHDFLKH so i mostly consume things in a vacuum and talk to like one friend 😭 but there loads of cool creators out here and you can always find a few gifmakers/fanartists/etc. and just follow the rabbit hole from there!!! best of luck and hope this helps >__<

Weekly Pond Newsletter
For those in the US, today is Mother's Day. If you are a mother to anyone to anything, whether human, furry, scaly, or otherwise, we hope you have a great day without any yellow-eyed demons!
Tumblr media
Old Business:
The Winchesters was officially cancelled by the CW, but Jensen has put out the call for the fandom to fight to give it a new home! Be sure to show your support by using the hashtag #SaveTheWinchesters on all of your social media posts, as well as watching the show on HBO Max. In news semi-unrelated to SPN, Walker: Independence was also cancelled, as well as Kung Fu (written by Bobo Berens from SPN), while Walker was renewed for a 13-episode season. No news, yet, about Gotham Knights. Although the Pond stays firmly in the SPN universe, we support our favorite SPN folks and their new endeavors!
We had two sessions of Competitive Writing Sprints and lots of writers won fabulous prizes while adding words to their WIPs! The next set will probably in a couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for announcements with dates and times!
Last week's #TweetFicTues prompt (via @writerswritecompany) was:

"This one gives me post-apocalyptic AU feels, for some reason." - Admin Michelle
New Business:
Jason Manns & Hayden Lee will livestream their show at The Heist via Stageit on Friday at 5:20PM Eastern US time. Jason Manns is best known to SPN fans as the singer/songwriter whose song, Vision, plays in the Impala during episode 4.01. (You know, the song that makes Dean rip out the iPod dock Sam had installed.) Click here for more info and to buy a ticket!
Manta Ray in the discord server! A few hours after Jason & Hayden's show, @katbratsupernaturalwhore will be hanging out in the discord server for an hour. Come join her and talk about whatever's on your mind!
Fishing for Treasures weekend is next weekend! This month, we're focusing on ships, especially rare pairs. Submit links to the blog, or drop a link in the #fishing-for-treasures channel in the discord server and we'll reblog your fics next weekend. Deadline to submit is Friday night at midnight, Eastern US time!
Know of a bang or writing challenge that you think we should signal boost? Send us an ASK or send a message to one of our admins and we'll do it!

If there's something you want to see on the calendar that's not there (maybe a convention we missed, or cast birthdays, or something similar), send us an ASK and let us know!

Q&A Two
Answering a second round of questions from the sign-up sheet:
Stating beforehand, first of all, if you asked us any sort of question regarding if there's something that needs to be fixed with your wishlist or otherwise, we'll be contacting you privately closer to when, or after, sign-ups close. Don't worry if you don't see your question here!
Tumblr media
[Text: Will these be posted anywhere other than tumblr, and is there a way to let you know if we want the final pieces to stay tumblr-only?]
All gifts will be posted on Tumblr only!
Tumblr media
[Text: how specific does the wishlist need to be? i can update mine if need be!]
At minimum, all you need is two characters and three prompts. Regarding prompts, they can be as specific or non-specific as you'd like. "Kirby and Gooey being friends" and "Kirby and Gooey watching movies while having a sleepover" are both equally acceptable prompts. You can even list "do whatever you want" as one of your prompts. As long as it gives your santa any sort of idea of what you'd like and what to make for your gift, it counts.
Tumblr media
[Text: Will our email address be made public? Is it possible for you to only use my tumblr username?]
Oh goodness, we absolutely won't be making emails public, don't worry 😆. All participants will be credited with the social media(s) they listed in the "Link all social medias you'd like to be credited with when gifts are posted," question on the sign-up sheet. Everything else is kept private.
Tumblr media
Not a question, but here are the current statistics of the poll, by the way, since I realized I forgot to add a "show results" option. It's been about 50/50 the entire week. Notably from our mod perspective, there are wayyy more more votes than people participating in the event. More than double, actually. I do not expect us to receive anywhere close to 100 applicants, which leads me to believe a lot of people not participating are voting in this poll for fun. If the poll continues to stay this close until the end, we will run a secondary "sudden death" poll. It'll be the exact same question with the exact same options, only the poll will run for 24 hours instead of 1 week to ensure more accurate results to those participating in this event.

Re the previous poll: I love my mutuals, I won't follow you guys anywhere. I'll give out my discord upon request but! As other folks have said, until this site 404's I'm here for better or for worse and then nowhere.
There is a slim-to-none chance I'd pick up my neocities site to be able to write about my day in an online journal but I'm gonna be honest, I do not have the urge to code much at all. It's fun but like directly from the sidelines only to me. Otherwise it's frustrating.
I'd live off of whatever servers I'm in and find other stuff to fill my time. Just directly share stuff with my friends like it's middle school again and I'm using my precious lunch time to.share the link of the OC story I wrote.
Truly, reach me via email in this hypothetical space of mass Tumblr migration. I'm NOT going. We can exchange phone numbers, I'll get a fuckin' p.o. box and we can write to each other.
If anything, less screen time/less social media would be better for me 💜. Anyway, that's all I have to say ever.
tl;dr I'm not going anywhere but it's fun seeing everyone have the yearly jump ship thing. If you're genuinely leaving Tumblr/thinking of it and wanna stay in contact send an ask or IM and I'll give my discord
