Creatures have colors!!

They have been colored along with making some minor adjustments. If anyone wants anything changed please let me know! These creatures are yours so name them whatever you want, develop lore if ya want, and do whatever you want with them. Possible next batch will probably be made later next week.
Art notes under cut :D
I put some music drops because music inspires me too much.
Moonchild-in-blue: The blues and purples!! Opals and the insides of muscle shells inspired me a lot with the coloring (particularly the stars and moon). There’s another shell that has that shiny blue and green lining on the inside but I can’t remember the name of it. It was a full moon last night but I forgot to take a picture! Thought of you but anyways I loved coloring the lady. It was fun but I first I struggled on deciding if I wanted more blue or purple.
Some songs I listened to a lot while coloring this:
Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap
Moon Child - F16s
The Night Does Not Belong to God - you know who
Leonsleftbicep: Colors go crazy! Idk what your favorite colors are but I chose The Blue. I also incorporated some red (for yummy contrast and complementary colors). I realized this looked very vampire media core. EyAH enjoy the critter!
Some songs I listened to while coloring this:
Blue Monday - Orgy
Military Fashion Show - And One
The Apparition - do I really need to say who?
Ghxstly-death: Per your request, red and black was incorporated! Was inspired by Mohg, Lord of Blood, from Elden ring cause he has cool robes and a trident thingy. I really like how it turned out. Like I’ve been doing with every design is adding the bling and I felt gold would work well.
Was resisting the urge to put the entire One EP right here:
Get The Balance Right! - Depeche Mode
Mascara - Deftones
Jaws - Slep tonka
SEVEN HOUR SHITTER (pearisland/perryisle): You use bright colors in your art all the time so we got the colors goingggg. Little guy reminds me of Pumpkin Patch protagonist or Hollow Knight. Idk. Not much to say except TRIPLE DEATH SLIME BARRAGE!!!
No normal music for you. only Kevin Macleod and Pizza Tower ST.
A-s-levynn: More Dark Sun Gwyndolin inspiration… (you can tell I have my dark souls art books open next to me right now). As requested, tendrils/tentacles were added! I think it improved the design a whole lot because it was originally very symmetrical and the tentacles added just the right amount of asymmetry to balance out the overall look. I’m a huge fromsoft fan (playing Elden Ring, waiting for new DLC, have dark souls 1 remastered but haven’t started it yet, have bloodborne Elden ring and DS1/3 art books) so lots of my art has elements from Fromsoft games (neutron activation).
And just like everyone else, some music for the soul:
Too Late - 311
Scared Together - Silversun Pickups
Dark Signs - eepy coin
Foundationsofdecay: Again, taking more inspiration from your blog, colors and stuff. The design had subconscious influence from the game sky: children of the light. Had lotsa fun coloring it. I don’t know much about you like favorite colors or flowers but I tried my best!
Songs that inspired me:
Let It Happen - Tame Impala
Flux - Bloc Party
Rain - tired currency
Polteergeistt: The oarfish colors… A lot Of these characters have cool blues so I tried to use some teal blues to contrast the red/pink(?). “Nintendo switch core” I’m sobbing. I fixed the feet. Now my Pinterest is filled to the brim with fish images (specifically oarfish, sea jellies, and blue lobsters).
The music!!!!!:
UNDERWATER BOI - Turnstile
The Illness (Teenagers Remix) - GoodBooks
Descending - exhausted dollar
Thank you so much. All of you are such lovely people. 🫂💕🫶

So, as you might have noticed, I've been playing Lords of the Fallen (great game btw) and I have a few thoughts on one of the bosses, the Lightreaper.
Tumblr media
This guy has appeared thrice for me now (I just completed Revelation Depths and the Fief of the Chill Curse), and from what I've read (yes, I love spoiling myself), he also appears a fourth time, as a proper, respawning boss in that instance.
So, Rhogar (the demons in the setting) are not capable of true free will, as they are intrinsically tied to their god, Adyr. But according to the description of one of the Lightreaper's drops:
"Existing only to carry out the will of their creator, no Rhogar has ever truly known peace, but only the Lightreaper feels the inescapable, gnawing hunger which would compel him to seek out lampbearers even if he did not do so at Adyr’s command."
Which I take to mean that, while perhaps not all Rhogar have free will, the Lightreaper could have it, it's just that, because of the gnawing need to possess the Umbral Lamp, he literally doesn't care for anything else, and so he hounds our character, in a desperate bid to obtain his prize.
I feel like something that something that supports this free will... heacanon? is the way he taunts our predecessor in the intro cutscene: he is so close to obtaining what he needs, so he takes the time to mock the Dark Crusader's failure. Someone without free will wouldn't take the time to do something that contributed nothing to its mission, something only done to cause petty pain. Not only that, but as far as I've gotten, no other Rhogar (such as the Ruiner boss) takes the time to mock anyone, they just kill and destroy what's in front of them.
Of course, there's the other part of the description, which heavily implies (if not outright states) that the Lightreaper isn't just mindlessly following its hunger; it's following Adyr's orders. While this could refute the free will thing, I feel that, because the Lightreaper was created by Adyr, he feels respect (and perhaps familial love?) for his creator, and willingly obeys Adyr's orders, even without the hunger as a failsafe, should the Reaper ever desert.
So, in the end, the Iron Wayfarer is the real MVP, since he was the one to save the Lamp from the Lightreaper's hands.
The situation also reminds me of some from the Souls series and Elden Ring, where you can't ally yourself with a certain character despite following an ending that directly benefits that character, simply because they're a boss. All of this to say, I should be allowed to spare this freak when doing the Inferno ending >:( Hexworks, let me have the sadist boi

Current Obsessions 🌟🍂🌻 Spooky Season 2022
Writing my first personal post in a while is making me realize that I haven’t done one of these in ages so here goes.
The cryptid podcast I mentioned that I was listening to is Out There:
Tumblr media
The host is a cinnamon roll queer boy who shares witness accounts and then invites his hilarious friends and family members to talk about which cryptid stories they find believable or bogus. There’s an Instagram page as well where you can follow along with the visual evidence that accompanies each of the stories. The audio is all over the place as he switches between story-telling and interviewing, but I kinda love that it’s unpolished, unrehearsed, and feels like a cozy hangout.
Basically all I do these days is embroider & listen to weird podcasts so here are a few more: Coffee & Cauldrons, Freaky Folklore, -ologies, Uncanny Japan, Oddities, & Your Magic (big faves bolded). I listen to all of these on Spotify.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if you like cryptids, perhaps you’ll enjoy this bizarre film I watched recently called Cryptozoo:
Tumblr media
It took me a bit to adjust to the rotoscope-esque art style and the weirdness of the opening scene, but suddenly I was absorbed into this bittersweet story about a woman creating a sanctuary for misunderstood creatures (and even my friend turned completely around in his computer chair and stopped playing elden ring for the first time in months to watch). The climax is particularly visually chaotic, so if you’re someone like me— who occasionally loves being overwhelmed by colors, details, and movement— you will be obsessed. Watch now on Hulu!
The spooky game I mentioned I was playing is called Evil Tonight:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the game, you wander around an abandoned arts academy, fighting evil mandrakes and blood-stained victorian ghosts, solving puzzles, discovering hidden passages, and piecing together clues from tattered journal entries. Bursts of lightning make the game a little more challenging as the scenes will become brightly illuminated and then cast back into shadows. Plus, some of the enemies are almost invisible, so there’s a spooky lil treat for you. But don’t worry, I’m a big pansy when it comes to horror games (or even when the sharks would attack you in Dreamcast’s Ecco the Dolphin omg) and I’m enjoying myself. I bought it for my switch on a super sale for like $2, so look out for those sales!
I mentioned in my personal post that I was listening to Hundred Waters, but they haven’t created new music in a while. They are absolutely magical if you haven’t discovered them, so definitely give them a listen (I love everything they do but my favorite song is Boreal). Here’s a beautiful and haunting piece just perfect for spooky season:
youtube
In terms of current music I’ve been playing Florence Welch’s latest album all summer! And Bjork just dropped her new album, so I’m sure that will be a new obsession. 💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I ate these today:
Tumblr media
The junior mints are kinda silly cause like, who bites their mints in half to see the color haha, but the raspberry and orange sour patch zombie kids are v v tasty!
And soon I will post my embroidery projects!
Bye, I hope you like these!

Soulsborne asks!
8 15 19
( ˘ ³˘)♥
ヾ( ̄▽ ̄)
8. Do you have any fond coop memories? Does a specific moment stand out to you?
I rarely do coop, cause a) I suck and b) I used to get anxious. But! Recently I needed help with Commander Niall so I summoned a dude that looked really edgy. Dual katanas, not wearing chest armor, using Chaos spells... That type. He seemed like he could pack a punch and honestly that's all I needed. Anyway, as we've established, I suck, which means I never dealt with the weird Lion Guardians. So I run past them towards the elevator. My guy tries to be nice or something and tries to fight the first one. I hear Chaos spells and then the guy's health bar drops like a 1/3. I turn around to help. He decides to leave. We pass each other at the stakes and I start throwing boulders at the lion cause it's already hurt a bit, might as well kill it. So he sees me and comes back again. Que him getting agro and then managing to get hit by every. single. attack. He falls down, gets up, heals, get hit immediately and do that three times over. At that point the second lion has engaged my ass and now we're both fighting for our lives. Not long after, he dies and I run to the bonfire to reset the lions, at which point I discover I can cheese them at the gate. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, I just found it funny that a dude confident enough to not use shields or chest armor was getting his ass kicked even harder than me while he was supposed to be helping me.
15. Do you have any unpopular opinions about any of the games?
Dark Souls II was the best in the trilogy. :P
But to say something I can actually back up, I know this isn't unpopular on the tumblr side of the fandom, but the Souls games are about hope and perseverance and are so much more than just "hard" games. Especially Elden Ring, with the Ranni ending pushing free will, Finley loving Malenia despite her curse, Ranni and Rykard keeping an eye to their maddened mother, Radahn adoring his horse, Rya having loving adoptive parents, MELINA, Marika tearing down everything she build due to loosing her child, etc... Just. So much of the story is about love. Platonic, romantic, parental, whatever. The Souls games are about hope and love existing and persevering in the face of decay and horror and I think that's really neat.
19. Do you play PvP?
I used to duel a lot in DSII and DSIII but I stopped cause it felt way too tryhard and just... DSIII duels were really unfun. And I also got really tired of the meme culture the series had at the time so I left.
I recently got interested again, purely from seeing your posts and you having so much fun as an invader. So I got an actual legal copy of the game and last weekend I almost finished setting up a RL90, beast incantations based build, wielding the Cinquedea. Just need to get one more Deathroot for Gurranq's Beast Claw and then I'm invading left and right. :D (never touching duels again though, fuck that noise)
Thank you! <3

My experience with Baldur's Gate 3 thus far:
The Good:
1) I admit it. I am ridiculously impressed They took all the good things about Divinity and tripled it. It is quality, engaging, and, above all, FINISHED. Despite what Blizz, Obsidian, Beth, etc. are bitching about, it is NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR IN A GAME.
2) SO. MUCH. CONTENT. WOOT!
3) It is a DnD game through and through. So much shenanigans! The random kind of chaos you can experience is what is so great about DnD/tabletop games in the first place. Super Spouse and I are having hella fun causing trouble. Me and that thunderwave spell are best buds. Sneaking up behind creatures and sending them careening off cliffs is satisfying as hell.
Just as long as I don't accidentally take out a companion with them...
Also, anyone else accidentally pull the wrong lever on the windmill? We laughed for a good ten minutes over that one.
Oops.
4) Props to the writers. The random conversations from the party and the general dialogue is tops! Hell, the whole main story is intriguing as hell. And, the little stories you run into just enhance the depth of the world. Awesome stuff.
Although getting into a battle because I accidentally walked in on a sexual rendevous was unexpected. Hilarious, but definitely not on the bingo card.
The Bad:
1) It's got shit for accessibility. There's some, but not much. Very disappointed about that. I do not need it but many do, and as I get older I mayneed more later! It is ridiculous for it not to be standard practice and is shooting themselves in the foot by ignoring a swathe of gamers.
2) THERE IS ZERO FUCKING REASON FOR WASD TO CONTROL CAMERA AND MOVEMENT TO BE MOUSE CLICKS. NO ONE FUCKING DOES THAT.
Seriously. That is my biggest complaint. It is stupid as hell. WASD/arrows should be movement and mouse should be camera. It is fucking intuitive at this point. It has beeen that way in RPGs forever! I have a ten key game pad and I am still having to use controller because the camera controls on keyboard even after reassigning them is trash. I PLAY FUCKING ELDEN RING ON KEYBOARD/MOUSE FOR FUCKS SAKE! Get with it Larian!
The Ugly:
1) I had to get a refund from GOG and download it on Steam because there was no fixing the download issue for me because it expanded to a "mismatched data"error that none of the solutions solved. I had no patience to wait to find out how long it was going to take that support ticket to be filled considering it is a common problem.
I was not pleased, but whatever.
2) Stuttering and fps drops big time - My PC is a beast. This game is not a struggle for her. It is absolutely on Larian's end. However, I found out disabling the fucking unneeded and unwarranted godsdamn Larian launcher has solved 95% of it. There is still some, but even Elden Ring had that trouble at first and they patched it so I figure it will be fixed soon. I also find restarting the game after a couple of hours gameplay also helps.
Seriously, why the fuck do they have that launcher? Fucking hell.

Hero Forge: My "Souls-Borne" Characters so far...
I've cleared Bloodborne enough times to get platinum, and still enjoy going back to it every once in a while. It's undeniably my favorite of all Fromsoft's titles (that I've played, but I don't think DS3 or Sekiro are likely to usurp it when/if I get around to them.)
Anyway, I had a seriously rough go of it trying to get through Dark Souls 1, starting two attempts that ended in rage quits extremely early on. First try didn't even make it TO Undead Berg because I got lost right at the start and got eaten by endlessly regenerating skeletons, second try I managed to actually beat the first Taurus Demon, and don't remember exactly what I got stuck on and inevitably rage quit again, but it happened.
It was only my THIRD attempted playthrough- after getting hooked on Bloodborne and making use of the same strategies- that I was able not only to actually see the rest of the game (which I had up to that point theorized didn't even exist and any known details were just part of an elaborate inside joke among people pretending to have made it that far), but actually beat it.
And finally overcoming such an infamously difficult game was cause for some kind of celebration, so I immortalized the Chosen Undead I took from the Undead Asylum to the Kiln of the First Flame...as a Hero Forge figure trying my best to match the loadout I had when I defeated Gwyn. The Gargoyle Tail Axe carried me through the ENTIRE game after I got it.
Tumblr media
THEN. I did what any sane person who hated every step of Dark Souls would do after finally beating it...I played Dark Souls 2. Again. After my two rage-quits of 1, I thought maybe 2 would be better and fix at least SOME of the things I hated about 1...
NOT SO. ONCE AGAIN I went the "wrong way" and got obliterated by a bunch of giant knights that, given my "I literally just got out of the tutorial area" level, each qualified as a boss fight by themselves even though they were just normal-ass enemies.
ATTEMPT #2 WOULD BE DIFFERENT, THOUGH. I beat Bloodborne AND Dark Souls 1, after all. It would be painful, no doubt, but possible. And no, it was decidedly NOT better than 1. I discovered entirely new things to hate about it in ADDITION to the returning obnoxiousness from 1.
But I slogged through, raged at the bad parts, acknowledged a few good parts, and EVENTUALLY the Bearer of the Curse became Queen of Drangleic by taking the throne (in contrast to to how I ended the previous game by *not* doing that.) Another Hero Forgery was in order! This one was a bit tougher just because of how much unique armor and gear there was. The life-stealing Butcher's Knife became my favorite after favoring various axes up to the point where I got it.
Tumblr media
With that, my Dark Souls journey is done until 3 goes on a decent sale, but I did get Elden Ring, and that's actually been a ton of fun! Not "dethrone Bloodborne" fun, but it can comfortably take 2nd place in my rankings.
At the time of posting this, I haven't actually beaten it yet, but I am AT the final boss, and it's a massive Fromsoft-level pain in the ass. I'm sure I can do it, and I'm on track for the "marry the pretty moon witch lady" ending once I do, so I jumped the gun a bit and made...
Tumblr media
I spent far longer than I care to admit trying to make something look like Ghiza's Wheel, AKA the Whirligig Saw, AKA the Pizza Cutter, but I just couldn't get anything to work for the blades.
NOW. If you've read this far, you're probably wondering something like, "Wait, you said Bloodborne was your favorite, so why didn't you make one of these for that game?" I didn't make a "Bloodborne Neiri" because my original Bloodborne character, and the one I first beat the game with was actually Tailii. I didn't make Neiri as a character until I realized that NG+2 Laurence was just too much for Tailii to handle. So I started a new character, played through the whole game again, and was able to take out Laurence and the Orphan of Kos, and get its weapon drop for the platinum.
Only after that did I decide to give the other Souls games another chance, and start making the different versions of Neiri in Hero Forge. For the sake of completion, I made Bloodborne Neiri after finishing the Elden Ring version.
Tumblr media
And here she is. Because of how BB's armor system works, I actually frequently change outfits throughout the game, so neither Tailii nor Neiri ever had a consistent look, so I went with the Knight's Set purely for fashionable reasons.
Wow. This post ended up being a lot more text heavy than I planned.
If you want HF links to any of these, here:

Something I've realized more and more about FromSoftware's games is that the difficulty is not the point of the game, or even that important of a part of them. A lot of people tend to overemphasize either how hard the games are or how important that is to what makes them good experiences. This is obviously not to say that the challenge shouldn't exist or that it isn't important, it's just not the only thing of note in these games.
Side note: I have not played that much of Sekiro because it's just. Not clicking for me. At all.
The type of challenge I enjoy in these games is finding a situation and learning how to "solve" it with the character I am playing. How can I use my chosen tools to move forward. Learning boss movements, enemy placements throughout a level, the ways I can use my weapons and items (usually the last one is pretty simple, as the combat is no Devil May Cry). The difficulty is important here, but it doesn't need to be all that extreme to be engaging.
Two examples of good challenges to me were Hoarah Loux and 1-1 in Demon's Souls.
Hoarah Loux was a surprisingly emotional fight for me. At this point, I had just beaten the Fire Giant, a fight I didn't understand all that well and felt was just not all that enjoyable, the Godskin Duo (which made me summon, something I normally don't do because I usually enjoy learning boss mechanics and Playing The Video Game), and Maliketh, who I felt was way too much to learn and had too much bullshit in his first phase. I was exhausted. I hated the game at this point. Then, this 9 foot tall, beautiful man showed me why I liked getting my ass kicked by these games. Learning the timings and blind spots of his regular attacks, jumping over his tremors, throwing lightning spells when I fell back too far to avoid an attack. In the second phase, he was faster with shorter range, with more dangerous AoE attacks and the coolest hrab in any video game. I didn't mind dying to him cause it was just more time to spend fighting and learning his moveset, and said moveset felt well balanced, fair, but still hard.
What I don't enjoy is how brutal the games are at times, even when adequately prepared. Losing a bunch of souls permanently has made me drop characters completely multiple times. Some enemies, like the Tomb of the Giants bone dogs, are less enemies and more stage hazards with how unfair and unfun they are. Boss runs filled with difficult to avoid enemies are tedious, even more so when Elden Ring made a mechanic that was made to remedy this, but then doesn't use it.

Huge Path of Exile 2 gameplay video just dropped and what can I say? I’m excited. I’m looking forward to more AAA devs whining about how you should reduce your expectations from them. It’s just a fluke. Rockstar behaviour that will never be seen again. From a studio of maaybe 200 employees?
The game looks so much more modern. So much more action oriented.
Sometimes I like to imagine what kind of game I would like to make and how I would approach the issues that I experience with the games that I play right now and a lot of it is addressed.
Melee feels bad because you’re stuck spendin half the time walking around the attacks or simply eating them? Add movement to skills themselves. Never stop moving.
Weapon swap is an idea that never quite work right. Supposed to allow you to react to situational issues or have an alt skill. In reality it’s just too fiddly. So automate it. And allow personal customisations about which skills will cause the swap. Also some skill points can be specced specifically for one weapon rather than the other. Dang.
100 unique bosses to find and fight. Each with their own theme??? Heard some clips of the music and it is going to be amazing. Banger after banger.
0 cooldown dodge ability on every class. Because they want to make actually interesting boss fights.
I don’t think it’s quite the Elden Ring of ARPG, but they brought it damn close.
It’s seeing these kinds of releases that makes me feel like I don’t need to make the game that I want. Because someone is already working on it.

How Path of Exile 2’s combat learns from Elden Ring
Tumblr media
Combat in Path of Exile 2 is so far looking extremely good. The Path of Exile 2 announcement at ExileCon demonstrates the truly interesting choices that the game's creator, Grinding Gear Games, is making to help design the next generation of combat for its cherished loot-chasing RPG title. Jonathan Rogers, the creative director of Path of Exile 2, explains to PCGamesN how Grinding Gear Games explores different genres to find intriguing concepts that might work well for its game. “We’ve always drawn inspiration from non-ARPGs,” Rogers tells me ahead of the ExileCon reveal, “The leagues that we do , we often tend to say, what’s a cool game mechanic from another type of game entirely – what if we could do that in PoE as a league?” We saw this in the Path of Exile Sanctum league, for example, which occasionally dropped players into a separate dungeon adventure inspired by the best roguelike games. Sanctum proved so popular that Grinding Gear Games is already preparing to bring it back in a new endgame format as part of the Path of Exile 3.22 update. That next league, meanwhile, is perhaps even more intriguing, with you building a team of AI companions to enter into a tournament of sorts. Rogers tells me the new mode is “inspired by sports games, weirdly enough – it’s more of a football game, in a way.” For Path of Exile 2, however, there are some clear inspirations to Elden Ring. The first of these is the robust dodge roll mechanic – an ability available to all classes at any time on the space bar, with “no cooldown and no restrictions.” This not only allows you to avoid incoming damage and reposition for your own attacks, it’ll also cancel you out of almost any skill, giving you a reliable safety net to attempt more involved attacks, such as channeled skills or ones with longer cast times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8OL9qqnhDo Unlike Elden Ring, the dodge roll doesn’t give you true ‘iframes’ – so you can’t stand in the way of a big area attack and simply ‘roll through it’ the way FromSoftware games allow. It will, however, cause incoming melee attacks and projectiles to miss you if timed well, meaning you can take on Path of Exile 2’s “over 100” boss fights in a manner much more akin to that of a Dark Souls encounter than anything ARPGs have seen previously. Rogers actually points to a different mechanic as the most directly inspired by the likes of Elden Ring, however – the way crowd control works in PoE2. Unlike its predecessor, where effects like freeze and stun are binary states that an enemy can be put into, crowd control mechanics in the sequel use internal meters that you build up to apply the status effect. “It’s a little bit like Poise from games like Elden Ring,” Rogers tells the audience at ExileCon, “though the meters tend to be a lot smaller. When you freeze an enemy, it increases the amount of freeze you need to do to get another freeze, but the increased difficulty bleeds away slowly.” “More freeze will always let you freeze the boss more often,” he explains, “but this system means it will not get out of control in party play or interact badly with other crowd control mechanics, allowing us to let these kinds of mechanics actually work against bosses.” It’s similar to the way Diablo 4 boss staggering works, although a little more nuanced, as individual types of crowd control are handled separately in Path of Exile 2, meaning you’ll get to actually apply your specific effect rather than just a generic, all-encompassing stagger. The introduction of stagger meters for the bosses in Elden Ring was probably one of my favorite additions to that game – making it so that most of them could be susceptible to tools like parrying without it completely trivializing the fights in the process. I’m really glad to see it make its way into Path of Exile 2, allowing me to more eagerly pursue a status effect build. As for the reduced speed of combat in the demo, Rogers tells PoE streamer Octavian ‘Kripparian’ Morosan in an ExileCon sit-down that this was partly a consideration to help show off the game to an audience, though he does admit the final game “will be a little bit slower.” He explains that most players won’t notice this, however, as it’ll only really affect high-level players with the most broken builds. “At the top end of players, you get this absolute ridiculousness with 600 projectiles a second… You just can’t see fking anything, so you don’t have any ability to respond to boss mechanics.” He says this small change should help boss fights feel more interactive, but emphasizes that the team still wants it to get silly. “I still want the player to feel like, ‘Oh I totally broke the game with this bullst that I’m doing here – it needs to feel like you still broke it. The Path of Exile 2 closed beta begins Friday, June 7, 2024. Rogers says the team wants to “make sure we get it right,” so we’ll have to wait a while longer to get our hands on the finished product. In the meantime, you can tease your tastebuds with plenty of gameplay from the ExileCon stage. We’ve picked out the best games like Diablo you can play right now, if you’re eager to get your hands on even more tasty loot. Alternatively, the best free games are packed with more delightful choices that won’t cost you a thing. Read the full article

Elden Ring on Steam - How to Play and Refund Elden Ring
There are many ways to purchase games on Steam. This includes the different methods of refunding or fixing any problems. Elden Ring is a great adventure game with an enormous area of play and great combat. In addition to its vast area of play, you are able to play in different ways and face many different enemies. There are numerous ways to progress through the game, including fighting enemies, exploring the environment, and accomplishing quests. Issues with ELDEN Ring If you're having difficulty playing Elden Ring on Steam, it's likely that you're having a variety of issues, from low frame rates to invisible enemies. Try updating your graphics card drivers or checking the game's files for any of these issues. If none of these solutions work, you can always try reinstalling your game. If the issue persists then contact FromSoftware for assistance. Fixes There's no one else having issues launching Elden Ring on Steam. There are many PC configuration issues that can cause this. Update your graphics drivers. You'll need to download the most current version of DirectX, which will be required for the game's to run. You can also turn off the Steam overlay while playing the game - click the Settings menu located in the upper left corner of Steam and select "In-game." Your Steam window will then disappear after a few minutes, and you'll need to sign in again. Refunds Are you having difficulty getting your game refund? You're not alone! Many gamers have experienced the same issues and are demanding refunds for their games. Steam allows users to request refunds within 14 days of purchase, as long as you are not banned from the VAC. Learn how to get a refund for your Elden Ring game. Here are some guidelines to assist you in getting your money back. Also, don't worryabout it, we've got you covered. Graphics Compared to the previous generation of PC games, Elden Ring on Steam is much more stable. Windows 10's DirectX 12 API takes away the burden of memory management threading from the driver. However games that aren't "fully baked" suffer from constant stuttering and shader-compilation halts. This causes the frame rate of the game to drop. Get more info It also causes the game to stop when it's needed to create the essential components of new events. Gameplay The action-based role-playing game Elden Ring on Steam is similar to the original Dark Souls, but with certain major differences. Dark Souls featured massive areas with linear progression, whereas Elden Ring has a wide open world, and a huge variety of enemies and zones. A good part of Elden Ring's appeal lies in the fact that it allows you to explore virtually anywhere. Learn more Although it can be very frustrating to lose repeatedly It's also very fun.

you know what, I didn't think I would ever publicly share my opinion full (mainly out of fear of harassments by gamers)
BUT
FromSoftware needs to learn how to write endings for their npc side quests..
----------------------------------------------------
And before we continue I'm gonna get into some npc spoilers if you'd rather not read that, finish the game, come back(or don't this is mainly just a really... really long think piece lmao)
----------------------------------------------------
And I'm not saying their side quests are bad by any means, it's just the fact they always end up one or two ways, a) they go insane and snap and you have to kill them OR b) they're doa
there are some variations, but ultimately end the same
and I know this has been a thing for almost every game thus far, I've played through all of bloodborne and, yep, it's there, too (why can't we, the people who are "trained"... kinda to do this, can't guide a LITERAL CHILD to safety). However, I feel like in Elden Ring:tm: it's a lot more... apparent.
It's not EVERY single npc, but it's absolutely a majority of them. Before 1.03 dropped I was genuinely surprised Diallos WASN'T going to snap, wasn't going to die, I was getting MAD Alfred 2.0 vibes but he just... accepted that revenge wasn't the right way, and that was refreshing, even if the revenge was justified BUT GUESS WHO DIES POST 1.03.
and it kinda makes no sense. Why couldn't we help jarburg? why couldn't we help Diallos track who the thing that was ultimately going to end up killing almost everyone in that town Including Diallos?? We Knew it was coming, why couldn't we help prevent it?
It feels like a complete and utter lack of player agency They could have 10000000000000% done a split ending for this side quest(and I'm using this one quest as an example cause it's what really made me Angry about these quests, like, it opened my eyes to how badly written they can be),
lets say, you get to this point in his quest and you can find the thing that is killing everyone, you can either go find it, Diallos can be a summon or whatever, and you kill it he's a hero to the town and he gets a good ending you decide not to, you get to a certain point in the game boom, death. And, that may seem a little punishing to the player who may not know, but.... THEY'VE DONE THIS BEFORE!! POINTS THE BLOOD MOON IN BLOODBORNE!!!! this is Exactly what NG+ and just, a new file is for!!! And honestly, that's really what made bloodborne feel, impactful? At least, from the npc stand point, they're actively affected by the world (and, yes there is a point in Elden Ring this does happen... but that's another time and another post). Here's the list of the fate of npcs(tallied by my friend): dead w/o player control: 11 determinant/difficult to keep alive: 7 survives (unless you specifically kill them): 6
Eleven... that's a pretty big number... and then 7 more you can keep alive but you have to kinda bend over backwards to do... making that number potentially 18... Hello??
It's always been a thing that from has suffered from, poor endings for npcs and unjustifiably so... "Oh but it's unrealistic that every npc survives!! It's SUPPOSED to be grim dark" that's not what I'm saying at all! but if we're talking about realism in.. Elden ring... lets just take away the dragons..... or the magic.... or the giant dogs with knives(we can make them tiny dogs with knives).
and I cannot stress enough, I don't want all of them to survive, but them just dropping like flies when you have to go to the ass crack of no where to get this specific item after fighting 700 bosses... only for them to have a last pieces few dialogue... and drop dead just like that... It's an incentive to not even Do these side quests because we know the ending is always gonna be the same...(Ranni's quest is probably my favorite side quests to do because we know she'll be okay BUT we still have to sacrifice The man Blaidd to do it... and first of all... how dare you).
And GRRM's influence absolutely did not help with this issue that has been around for a long time, in fact I'm utterly terrified he made is a thousand times worse.
I could go on and on about this, but you get my point by now I'm sure.... It's just, what's exactly the point of doing these side quests when you know Exactly how it's gonna end... Every. Single. Time.

Elden ring slaps from like a game design perspective but the technical issues are starting to really pile up. Fps drops, general mini-freezes as things load in, but the most egregious is that co-op just Doesn’t Work sometimes. Two nights in a row we’ve tried to all team up to gank a boss together and one of us just can’t see our group’s signs no matter what we do. I’m used to mysterious fucked up multiplayer cause I’ve been playing these games for years but it’s a real bummer, especially considering this game was advertised as having more user friendly multiplayer.

Your Computer May Be Compromised.
How would you feel if these things happened to your life by merely playing a video game? Things such as,
bank account hacked
sensitive information stolen
computer system bricked
All by simply connecting to another player, let alone interacting with them? This is possible by Remote Code Execution exploit found in our Dark Souls series network code for the PC on January 22. How it basically works is that as network packets are sent as connections are initiated, malicious code may be sneaked in—shown in Figure 1: RCE Process below. Essentially, the worst case scenario allows total control over one’s computer, as show cased here in Dark Souls 3 a recorded live Twitch stream segment from streamer The__Grim__Sleeper as he played with others in Dark Souls 3.
Tumblr media
Blue Sentinel.
There’s only one option beyond simply going offline in Dark Souls 3, and it’s by this tool. It’s an online anti-cheat tool created by LukeYui that defends against such various exploits such as players who use glitches (unintended mechanics) and cheating their stats beyond the RCE exploit by,
flagging offenders and blacklisting offenders.
blocking invalid, cheated in items.
automatically booting out them from your session.
or disconnecting yourself automatically, and blacklisting said offenders.
among a host of other anti-exploit related features.
We must give them immense props as not only did they disclose this vulnerability to us privately but that LukeYui and a host of other volunteers of the community lead this effort to defend against bad actors. We HIGHLY recommend playing offline until further notice, or if you decide to play online install Blue Sentinel. It is free and easy. There is only three easy steps, as explained below.
Registering for Nexus mods.
Downloading the file.
Dropping the file into ones game directory (usually “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game"
Network Server Shutdown.
“We pride ourselves on Dark Soul’s challenging  and brutal yet fair gameplay that rewards players who adapt and preserve to factors that entirely within their control,”
We will be shutting down the network servers with prior notice in the near future, until this vulnerability is fixed for ALL Dark Souls games, except Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition.  We apologize profusely for any and all inconveniences this may of caused as we will ensure Elden Ring doesn’t encounter this same issue. We pride ourselves on Dark Soul’s challenging  and brutal yet fair gameplay that rewards players who adapt and preserve to factors that entirely within their control, and will NOT tolerate further exploits.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Fixes Problems You Didn’t Know Existed
https://ift.tt/39mYjY8
The Cyberpunk 2077 team has revealed the full patch notes for the game’s recently released 1.2 update and all we can say is “wow.”
There’s no use trying to breakdown the entirety of this patch since it contains over 500 updates, fixes, changes, and improvements. I highly recommend that you check out the (mostly) full rundown of the update if you’ve been waiting for that massive Cyberpunk 2077 patch that will finally make the game significantly more playable. This won’t be Cyberpunk 2077‘s last update, but it feels like the first of the game’s updates that are trying to do more than just put out the biggest fires.
If you’re looking for the highlights, though, then I’ve got you covered. Here are the best, biggest, and weirdest patch notes that I’ve found in the Cyberpunk 2077 1.2 update so far.
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Notes: The “WTF?” Fixes
“Player can no longer cancel fall damage by performing a slide action when about to fall from greater heights.”
If you’re like me, this is one of those things that you didn’t even realize was possible in Cyberpunk 2077 but now desperately want to try. Based on some videos that I’ve seen of this technique, it’s actually possible to survive some insane falls via this method but your survival is based on the specifics of the fall itself and your mastery of the technique. Honestly, they should just turn this technique into an official in-game modification ability.
“It is no longer possible to perform Gorilla Arms finishers against civilians.”
Cyberpunk 2077‘s latest patch notes make it clear that civilians in Night City have it kind of rough. I’m not entirely sure what the basis of this particular change is, but I kind of hope that they put it in there just to give the poor people of Night City a break by not letting you beat them to death quite so easily with your mechanical fists.
“Extending the sliding ladder won’t result in player’s death if they are below it.”
I’ve never actually seen this happen in Cyberpunk 2077, but the fact that it could happen is downright hilarious. Super-powered characters being killed by tiny bumps in video games is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I love the idea of being killed simply because your character is too stubborn to move out of the way of a ladder.
“It is no longer possible to use guns near the arcades during the Raymond Chandler Evening fistfight. // You can no longer pull an Indiana Jones in El Coyote Cojo.”
Ok, I’m actually a little upset by this one. As pointed out in the patch notes, it’s actually kind of hilarious that this was possible as it plays into the player choice element of the game. You could argue that too many of these glitches add up to be more than an amusing annoyance, but I think this one might have been funny enough to leave in the game in some form.
“Fixed multiple issues during sex scenes”
CD Projekt Red doesn’t give any additional details about this patch note, but I really wish they would. Just how many issues were there in these sex scenes? I’ve heard some people say the animations used in these scenes were awkward (which is true), but I’ve also heard reports that players were falling through floors and clipping through objects during those sensual moments. I’m sure fans will waste no time telling us everything that’s different about them when this update hits.
“Kerry’s bathrobe is no longer incorrectly attached to his lower part of the body.”
I had to look this one up, and I’m glad I did. It seems that Kerry’s bathrobe suffered from this strange glitch that made the bottom of it operate independently from the rest. I have no idea what causes it, but it kind of looks like it’s accounting for the proportions of a gentleman with much wider hips. Check it out for yourself:
“Fixed incorrect censorship when playing a copy of the game from a region other than Japan while the console region is set to Japan or language to Japanese.”
This isn’t the strangest patch note, but it’s one I didn’t know about. Apparently, the Japanese version of Cyberpunk 2077 censors some of the sex scenes and a few of the more violent moments. I’m genuinely curious how many people were accidentally playing the censored version of the game due to this issue and didn’t even realize it.
“Fixed an issue where pedestrians could get teleported after being hit by a vehicle.”
I still just want to know where those civilians went from both a design and lore perspective. I’m imagining that there’s a pile of civilian bodies lying around somewhere like at the end of The Prestige.
“In The Pickup, it’s no longer possible to trigger both scenarios at the same time: a peaceful deal with Maelstrom and fighting them.”
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Notes: The Oddly Specific Fixes
“Fixed an issue where dumping a body in the trunk started the vehicle’s engine.”
Ok, I ran into this one several times during my Cyberpunk 2077 journey and just convinced myself that it was a feature. At the very least, I feel like Elon Musk may make a car that automatically starts when it detects a body in the trunk for the convenience of the evil billionaire with goons on the go.
“The TV in Tom’s Diner can no longer be destroyed. If a player destroyed it before this update it will now be fixed and the news will be displayed correctly to progress Playing for Time.”
I also didn’t know this was possible, but it’s hilarious to imagine a player going around and destroying every TV in town only to find that they can no longer progress through the game as a result of their actions. Honestly, who discovered this one?
“Fixed an issue that caused NPCs to trip over other NPCs too often.”
It’s the “too often” part of this one that gets me. Who determined that the amount of NPC tripping going on was well beyond the acceptable parameters for such a thing?
“Fixed a rare scenario where the painting wouldn’t appear in the drop pod in Space Oddity/Space Oddity no longer spawns multiple paintings blocking the quest’s progress.”
I love the idea of largely useless paintings causing so many problems during one of Cyberpunk 2077‘s biggest missions. You just get the feeling that this is the little problem that made the team realize what a mess Cyberpunk 2077 was at launch.
“Fixed an issue where A Like Supreme could get blocked if player rushed to the toilet to take a pill before finishing a conversation with Nancy.”
This one just brings to mind a million instances in open-world games where you realize that QA testers should consist of trolls and video game speedrunners who are able to find absolutely every little thing you can do to ruin a game.
“Car lights will no longer stay on after the car battery dies in Ghost Town.”
How far down the list was this particular problem? Either this is a sign that the team is ready to move on to more minor fixes or this problem was a particular sticking point with someone on the team.
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Notes: The Cat-Related Fixes
“Cat food needed to adopt Nibbles can now be bought at several food shops around Night City”
While I actually like the idea of specific items only being available in specific shops in Night City, the fact of the matter is that Nibbles doesn’t have time for such role-playing concepts. Nibbles needs food, Nibbles needs love, and Nibbles needs it on their time, not yours.
“Fixed an issue in Nocturne Op55N1 where petting the cat would play without dialogue. // V will now properly address the cat, even without Misty’s answer.”
You WILL properly address Nibbles, V. Thank you to the Cyberpunk team for fixing such a glaring omission. Clearly, this is the reason why the game was delisted from the PlayStation Store.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Notes: The Welcome Fixes to Strange Problems
“Fixed an issue where V could get stuck in empty buildings when exiting a vehicle parked close to a wall.”
This one happened way more often than it ever should have. This scenario is also common enough to really make you wonder how this problem escaped the testing process.
“Jackie no longer shouts ‘Nice shot!’ when V kills enemies while in stealth mode.”
Truth be told, I actually kind of love that Jackie couldn’t hide his enthusiasm during these instances, but it’s hard to deny that his piercing shouts did kind of ruin the immersion of these moments.
“Collisions will no longer fail to stream in randomly during driving, which could lead to V driving into buildings and falling out of the world.”
I get that Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t supposed to be GTA, but it sure will be nice to be able to collide with something without having to worry about disappearing into the void where those civilian bodies go.
“NPCs will no longer stay blocked on traffic lanes while in fear.”
Cyberpunk‘s poor NPCs will finally be able to move out of the middle of traffic which is good for you, good for them, and good for the city’s cleanup crew who have seen too many horrors.
“NPC hit by a car will now immediately run in panic/Added different animation variations for pedestrians running away from a vehicle.”
Some saw this problem as a sign that Night City’s NPCs just don’t care, but I think these patch notes make it clear that they wanted to run away and just didn’t have the ability to. It’s a real “have no mouth and must scream” scenario.
“V’s hands are now correctly displayed on a steering wheel while driving”
V gets a few animation fixes in this upcoming patch, but this is one of my favorites. I don’t know why it was so difficult to properly animate V using a steering wheel, but I’m glad we’re moving past the days when you’ve got to wonder what the character’s hands are supposed to be doing.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
