God it's so strange having a show I like that actually has regular and consistent output, after so many fandoms with years between seasons/series.

Meanwhile Taskmaster over here giving us two series per year, plus a yearly special, plus another special every five series (ish, scheduling depending). It's nice to be fed and happy for a change.

Welp, I just watched the first episode of Miss Sherlock, and I am hella gay.

#I'm not in the habit of posting original opinions on this blog but I guess being a fandom of one for Sesame the Fox last week got me in the #habit. #Anyway I was a little reluctant to start this show because the title felt a bit like it was pandering. #Like I thought it was going to be made somehow stereotypically girly to appeal to what women are supposed/believed to like rather than a #serious mystery/crime drama. Everyone gives Sherlock Holmes a hard time about being mean about Watson's writing, but honestly imagine you told your roommate "sure, you can write up an account of my work for the newspaper," thinking it would be like, about the murder, but then he publishes it and it's 90% about you, as a person, and it's a huge hit and now everyone in London knows that you hoard newspapers and do cocoaine when you're depressed. Because I think you'd be little miffed too.

I never watched BBC Sherlock or engaged in the fandom and being into original Sherlock Holmes in the year 2024 feels like frolicking in a meadow that’s grown up over a battlefield. *hitting you with a stick* no benoit blanc movies should not interact. they should not lead up to something. you need to detox from the marvel/sherlock bbc poisoning. they should be completely independent movies (maybe w some cameos/little references for fun) and go on for as long as there are stories rian johnson wants to tell in this universe. i do not want an overarching plot i do not want a team up i dont want a benoit-focused prequel i want some good old fashioned episodic murder mysteries that have nothing to do with each other!!!!!!!!!!! also rian johnson has literally said he's not gonna do a prequel and he wants the movies to all stand on their own

addendum 1: by "marvel/sherlock bbc poisoning" i dont mean that those caused this over-serialization, but i think they are partially responsible for why audiences are expecting it. learn to engage w murder mysteries on the genre's own terms
