Why Mike Referring to El as "Superman" is Byler Coded
*Note this theory has nothing to do with gender*
This is gonna be long. But don't worry. I think it's worth it.
El + Will
El and Will are intertwined. Interchangeable characters. Almost like doppelgängers or alter-egos. Yet sometimes behave or are placed in situations as if they are foils. Here's what I mean by this.
Season One
From the very beginning, Will and El are linked. When Will goes missing from Hawkins, El appears in the woods of Hawkins. Will is taken from the party and El is given to them (in a sense) when they find her. Immediately they are put in contrasting situations (foils) yet are interchangeable characters (I'll be calling this alter ego since doppelgänger isn't a completely accurate term
Physically she is smaller than the rest of the group, like Will, and she is also shy, like Will. She's not just shy because she doesn't know many words as we know from later seasons, when she knows a lot more English. Though she talks a bit more, she is still reserved with communication, just like Will.
And we can also see their characters mirror each other in the way other characters react to them. Not only just Mike but Lucas and Dustin eventually become protective over El just like they are with Will. Joyce becomes a motherly figure for El once she meets her. Not in season one but eventually Hopper becomes both of their father figures. The bullies make fun of her just like they make fun of Will. But from the very first few minutes, we understand Mike and Will have a special friendship compared to themselves with Lucas and Dustin. Will only tells Mike the truth about the dice. He doesn't lie. Mike's also very protective over and sensitive about Will. He notices he doesn't show up to school. He goes to his house to find him. He genuinely wants to help find Will, just like the others, but he's really adamant from the get go. He has a protector role. As soon as Will becomes lost and they find El in the woods, she takes Will's place in his absence. Immediately, Mike takes her under his wing and protects her. They have a thing about friends not lying, referencing the very first scene where Will doesn't lie to Mike, and only Mike. They both have a special relationship with Mike and it's emphasized by all the other similarities between Will and El. Such as...
Both of the characters being the only ones to have outwardly abusive, shitty fathers. Lonnie is a homophobic bully to his own son and would gladly exploit his death, while Brenner imprisoned El her entire childhood and did nothing but manipulate and exploit her. They both were taken from their mothers, who go crazy looking for them and never stop until they find them or are physically prevented from doing so :( They are the only characters alive who have been abducted, so they share a complex trauma that none of the others can relate to. Automatically this gives them a similar character profile starkly contrasted to the rest. They both feel a connection to the Upside Down and are the other characters main (only?) connections to the Upside Down.
Finally, in the final moments of season one, Will is brought back to the original Hawkins and El is taken into the Upside Down. Interchangeably. A transfer of their characters. The paralellism lol. And this brings us directly into season two.
But before that.
This next sentence is important, so pay attention. Essentially, the only major difference between Will and El is that Will has no powers. Remember this.
Season Two
So immediately in season two there is already another situational contrast between our mirrored characters; Will is now in Hawkins, placed back inside the party, and El was in the Upside Down until she was in the woods (just like Will except reversed) and then Hopper took her in (same person who saved Will), taken from the party. So Will is given back and El is taken. Almost like you can only have one because they're so interchangeable. So there are already many parallels.
**So many that I could stop here and make my Superman point honestly but this is too much fun. So if you want you can just skip to the end for the rest of the theory and it will still make sense. But I suggest reading the whole thing for it to really hit.**
Anyway. Now instead of El being the main character, Will is, at least in relation to the other party members. I would say both El and Will are the main main characters of s2, but regardless, Will takes her place as the main character in the party. So again, they switch places. Indicating they are interchangeable. Which is very important. Just like season one where the party members and eventually the other characters were protecting El from the bad men, they're now protecting Will from the Mind Flayer. He takes the place of protected and Mike is his main protector as far as the kids and teens. Not only that but there are tons of Byler moments in this season and they mirror how Mileven were in season one. If what's happening in a canon ship is happening in a supposed "unrequited" ship, then maybe that ship isn't so unrequited. If people even question it, maybe that ship isn't so canon.
But I digress. Lol
Just because Will and El are so alike doesn't mean they don't clash. That's why they're also foils, imo. And this is what we see in season three.
Season Three
So by clash I don't mean they don't like each other or have ill will for one and other. I mean the trope or role they hold in comparison to the other characters only has room for one, so it can create tension. Otherwise, they still pretty much mirror each other. Both are finally getting to grow up and not experience trauma (in the first few episodes). They are both recovering from their childhood being ripped apart by two heads of the same beast. El has girls night with Max before+after breaking up with Mike, Will has boys night before fighting with Mike. They're two peas in one pod that are constantly revolving around each other. The yin and yang. So similar but constantly moving in opposite directions. When one does this, the other does that. Mileven's breakup scene is funny, lighthearted, fun colored and sunny. Bylers fight is dreary, dark, mono toned color scheme, emotional acting and serious implications. El is seen having fun thinking of other things after the breakup. Will destroys Castle Byers, the place he felt was safe for him, which could even parallel when El destroys the cabin because Hopper won't let her leave/see Mike. They're in almost identical situations (lover/crush isn't reciprocating the feelings I have for them, or at least isn't showing it properly) yet their situations end up completely different. This mirrors their characters but also foils them. Regardless it creates a link between the two indicating they hold similar roles within the show. Other than Mike relations, while El is figuring out something is up with Billy/the Upside Down, Will knows the Mind Flayer is back. They both consistently represent the fantasy aspect and always facilitate that storyline. Now that they've finally been present together in a season, it becomes A LOT more obvious how their characters are so similar it causes clashes, which only further emphasizes how alike they are.
Let's just get into S4 because this is so long lol.
Season Four
El and Will becoming siblings heavily emphasizes them being each others alter-egos and the fact that El has no powers only maximizes this to the fullest. Essentially they're now the exact same character trope/profile whatever you want to call it. El is now being bullied for being "different" and because she no longer has powers. We all know Will has been bullied since the womb 💀 Without her powers, El has a very difficult time defending herself, and so does Will in general. She can't vocally speak up for herself, the only time Will does is when Mike has ticked him off so bad, similar to El without her powers. They both just don't fit in. So why don't they also show Will being bullied? It goes back to how they clash, reiterating how they're the yin and yang, switching situations constantly. When Mike first gets to Cali, Mileven are all over each other leaving Will dilly dallying somewhere in the background and Byler eventually fighting. Then Mileven fight and Byler make up. Both Will and El want to hear something from Mike that he's isn't ready to say. He dances around the issue with the both of them - telling El she's incredible and he cares for her, telling Will they're just friends, and indicating their relationship didn't warrant regular contact. Same situation (I want Mike to reciprocate my feelings) different outcome (Mike doesn't love me, Mike can't admit we were best friends ((or more than that)) and his behavior is weird). This is not for no reason. Writers (and no it's not just the Duffers, so please stop shitting on the writing when if you look into it there's some good subtext) don't parallel characters for no reason. They are trying to indicate something. That Will and El are so alike but constantly stuck in opposing situations.
Okay so that's my in depth analysis of why Will and El are essentially the same character while simultaneously contrasting each other. Alter ego foils. Let's get to the ACTUAL point 😭
Superman
So, in the van scene, before Will gives his speech, Mike has his own little semi-speech and towards the end he says "...that I'm just some random nerd who got lucky Superman landed on his doortstep. I mean at least Lois Lane is a reporter for the daily planet, right?"
Now this may seem like a simple analogy, not knowing much about Superman. However, even when I only knew the basics and tropes, it still stood out to me that he referred to el as Superman, not Superwoman, wonder woman or Supergirl. I've seen a few people for and against this theory and it always revolves around the idea that El is a girl not a boy so it should be Supergirl. And yes, I think that partially helps this analogy, it gives it more attention to an average viewer; but that's not the only reason it works. In fact, I don't think that's the main point at all. It's also important that Mike refers to himself as Lois Lane. Now hear me out...
In the original Superman comics, and some iterations of it, Lois Lane falls for Superman because of his super powers and subsequent charisma/attractiveness, while befriending Clark Kent and not realizing they are the same person. Are we seeing this comparison? Please tell me I'm not crazy.
If it wasn't obvious, Mike = Lois Lane, Will = Clark Kent and El = Superman.
Here's a description of the "love triangle" between Lois, Clark and Superman. Yellow is Will, blue is Mike and green is El.
Tumblr media
Now obviously, Superman and Kent really are the same person. However, I think there's plenty of support for the idea that Will and El are nearly interchangeable characters without the powers. So the Writers used a clever reference to indicate this love triangle (or at least I think they intentionally did lol).
What supports this theory more is Mike's descriptions throughout the seasons of El. He's references her super powers more than twice, referred to her as a "machine" a "weapon in s1". In S3 and S4 he has trouble saying ILY which on its own could be plenty of things but coupled with all of the other subtext... let's just say maybe I choose to be delusional. In the monologue, he refers multiple times to her super powers instead of like "i love your caring soul, your warming smile, how you are literally always there for us". No its "you can move mountains, fly, do anything" etc. Clear romanticization of her powers which she probably doesn't like and isn't a healthy thing in a relationship anyway.
Lois Lane has a close personal relationship with both Superman and Clark Kent, yet she's unable to tell that they're the same person. Even though the only thing being different is a pair of glasses and obviously super powers. This parallels how Mike is unable to differentiate between his feelings for Will and his feelings for El. They're confusing because he thinks he's supposed to like El because of society (Lois is primarily attracted to Superman first over Kent because of the allure he brings with his fame and powers, which relates to social standing) and that he can't like Will because of the obvious implications - being gay would give him hardship. For Lois Lane, it means she has a lower social status than if she were to be with Superman. The way El and Will have so many parallels I feel like this analogy is too blatant to not mean something. Especially considering this is a sci-fi action show and Superman would attract similar fanbases, so some of them would be able to make the connection.
+++It's also NOT a coincidence that he says this RIGHT before Will confesses his feeling VICARIOUSLY THROUGH El. It just can't be sorry.
Now obviously this is all speculation, but this next part is really speculation.
So how is Mike's behavior explained in the context of this Superman analogy?
Now that El lost her powers, Will and El are essentially two peas in a pod. If you analyze closely throughout the seasons you would catch on to it, but now more than ever. Mike has too. They call and write all the time so presumably they talk A LOT about A LOT of things. This gave him the time to understand El apart from her powers. Not only that but they were physically separated so even if she did have her powers, he still wouldn't be as affected by them. He finally gets to know her. And that's not to say he doesn't like her. Or even love her. He just doesn't romantically love her. And he realizes that once he's confronted her true self, and once he gets to Cali it's thrown right into his face (as he may or may not have been expecting) causing him to ignore Will. Even though he's never, even in s3, acted this nonchalant and apathetic towards Will. It's noticeable, probably noticeable enough for the general audience. A stark contrast even. Yes it could be the distance so they grew apart but we know from their talks in Vol 1 that it wasn't intentional. Mike says he lost Will. When's the last time he lost Will? In s2 with the Mind Flayer and in s1 with the abduction. How did he react? Negatively, but urgently tried to find Will. This time he reacts negatively but avoids fixing it. Why? Because he, at least on some level, has recognized his feelings for Will. Perhaps the similarities are so glaringly obvious that he feels stupid and naïve.
And one last thing to drive the point home.
Mike, in episode 8, refers to El as "superman". You can brush it all off as oh that's just the most popular superhero, etc. But in the VERY next episode, Argyle refers to her as "supergirl". It shows that Argyle sees her as a girl, not a boy. Not that Mike doesn't know she's a girl but that he chose not to refer to her as such. Someone else pointed out that he has referred to her as "person" multiple times throughout the series. I don't have the proof in that but if it's true it supports this. It also shows that the writers (may) have used the word Superman intentionally.
Well that was super fucking long but I would love to hear opinions if you've gotten this far!!! I don't think it's that far fetched but I am deluded so I truly can't tell lol.

Alright 3rd and final Star Wars take of the day that is probably pretty lynchworthy:
Echo should have died/already been dead in the Bad Batch arc in s7. Sorry guys, I love Echo too, but the story would have worked better if he was already dead when they got there.
Like there's a lot of things that could have made this arc better in general that I'm not going to really get into here without touching on the character design or whitewashing and racism around the clones (which many much more qualified people have talked about way more eloquently than I ever could). Like the fact that this arc should have been a Cody&Rex arc rather than writing Cody out so early in or the weirdly dismissive way the writers treated the other characters in order to lift tbb up when they could have just. Not done that. Really very easily.
But specifically the Echo thing: as soon as Rex finds out the possibility that Echo might still be alive, he is immediately ready to jump in with both feet without looking, and Anakin cautions him that they might not find Echo alive and he needs to prepare himself for the possibility that they can't save him. This has huge overall narrative implications, because we, the viewers, know that in a few weeks time he is going to turn his back on the people who love and trust him and betray everything he's ever sworn to stand for bc he is worried about the possibility of not being able to save Padme.
Now Rex goes with tbb and Anakin on a rescue mission that might not be a rescue mission. Tbb are still being very dismissive of the "regs" and Rex, quite understandably, is not handling their attitudes very well.
They get there, it's a trap and so on and so forth, but here's the important part: they don't find Echo alive. The Techno Union found him after the Citadel arc and mined his brain for data through hand wavy star wars means and they had no need to preserve anything else or keep him alive after that.
The rescue mission is too late and they never had the chance to save Echo at all. And Rex breaks. He holds it together for long enough to complete the mission, they escape the Techno Union and protect the village, but once they get back on the ship and head back towards Anaxes, he just shatters. Full on sobbing on the floor devastated bc he was so sure he could save Echo. He was so hopeful that he could save this one person after everything. After Fives and Tup and Ahsoka walking away and Kadavo and Umbara he just wanted to be able to save one person that he cared about. And they were already way too late.
We can see Anakin faced with all of this and the shadow of his future actions that he will do so that he will not have to deal with his own potential grief. We can see the paralells between Rex doing everything in his power to have the possibility of saving his brother and Anakin taking extreme steps to have the possibility of saving his wife.
The shadow of RotS hangs over the entire arc and this then makes the scene with Admiral Trench hit so much harder. Because it's not just the warning of how far Anakin has already fallen, its the spectre of the future hanging over his shoulder in more ways than one, the way that throughout the arc you can see his resolve to never lose Padme hardening so he never has to face that grief.
On the other end of things, tbb are faced with Rex's very real and present grief for Echo and have to acknowledge the love and care that the other clones have for each other. They get to grow as characters and learn to respect the grief of the "regs" bc there is a shared kinship there, they do share more than they don't, and they are all horribly aware of just how easily it could have been them. The arc can end with them learning to respect the other clones and finding a closer kinship with them rather than returning to the status quo just with Echo as a member and they sort of like Rex now. Not only would that have made them more relatable as characters but could have set up a much better conflict for the future in their show rather than the weird thing with Crosshair that we did get and them still not really connecting with any of the other clones in a show centred on the clones.
Like, let the characters fail. Let them lose. Let them have succeeded in their mission without having it be a victory. Let it be bittersweet. S7 is already bittersweet. We know what is coming. We know how close it is. The shadow of it looms over every single interaction in this season. So don't shy away from it. Lean into the shadow of Anakin's choices, lean in to the paralells that you're writing in, let the events have meaning and impact and consequences like so much of the rest of the show.

You know, the narrative plus the fandom sure loves to single out Izu in any way possible. The last ask was about Shig and how his "I want afo" makes no sense.
Can I say what else makes no sense? What was Shig's plan for Overhaul?
"Kill him" yeah sure but that is a goal and technically ...he didnt kill Overhaul.
Not saying Shig should have broke the fouth and said "hey reader here my plan" but like what was the plan?
1) did Shig knew about the raid before happening? Aoyama couldn't know as Izu kept tight lips as the others
2) and even if he knew...so what? The place is crowed with heroes. He could have been captured or LoV could have too.
3) whatever the initial plan was ...it was gone. Thanks to Izu...Shig menages to enact revenge thanks to Izu...
On the third part is what calls my attention bc while Shig stans praise this scene as Shig being a badass villain...I don't think this would have happened without Izu and no credit or aknowldge is give to him.
"You want people to assiciate murder to izu?" No. But Shig is fairly smart and I would like him to understand "oh yes if it wasnt for Izu...I wouldnt have got it" that could help his character a lot. Hell, why not estabilish a connection with Izu? They do have tons of paralels (fandom chose to ignore or downplays it)
Fandom and narrative seems to ignore Izu's pain and contribution in the story.
Shig has cool scenes sure but no depth. Nothing.
On the other side of the coin, Izu has so few cool scenes. He is the mc. Where is the power up? Where is the mentor? Where are the villains reconizing Izu is a big deal? Where are the friends?
Mt kaachan academy.
Anyway. To conclude: Izu and Shig team up accidentally and its still miles and miles and miles away better than bk and Izu teaming up. Think that for a moment, the villain can work better with Izu(even if accidentally) than bk who is stuck and leeching on Izu's narrative.
You bring up some valid points, and it's clear that the narrative and fandom can be quite dismissive of Izuku. Shigaraki's plan for Overhaul is indeed a bit enigmatic, and I've wondered about that myself.
It's true that the goal was to "kill him," but as you pointed out, Shigaraki didn't actually succeed in doing so. The lack of detailed information about the plan is something that's been on my mind too. The questions you raise about whether Shigaraki knew about the raid in advance and the risks involved are important. Izuku's role in disrupting the plan and enabling Shigaraki's revenge is noteworthy, and it often seems to go underappreciated.
I don't think it's about associating murder with Izuku, but rather, recognizing that Shigaraki's success can be attributed, in part, to Izuku's involvement. The two of them are parallels and two sides of the same coin so it's interesting that their actions are so opposite yet end up coinciding. It would have been nice to see more of this.
Your point about the narrative sidelining Izuku and his contributions is a valid one. Obviously, it's one of my biggest gripes with the series.
Shigaraki does have a lot of great moments in the series, but he ends up coming off as shallow a lot of the time. it's like Hori is scared to go all the way with him.
I agree, Izuku's character could use recognition from the villains. Missed opportunity to have villains (maybe not the LOV, but someone) try to convince him that he deserves retribution for what society put him through. I still stand by that it's weird that Bakugou was the one kidnapped. He might have anger issues, but he's the kind of arrogant, entitled hero that the LOV should hate.
In the end, the accidental team-up between Izuku and Shigaraki does offer an interesting dynamic, and I can see how it can be more engaging than the dynamic with Bakugou. It's all part of the complex web of character interactions in MHA.

ALL reasons to ship garvez (CME version)
See here the original recap.
1- Their relationship is growing season by season. At the beginning Luke was the most taken, but in S16 she finally reached him.
2- Penelope cares a lot about Luke opinion on her. She showed it in: 16x1, when she smiled so happy after Luke said he almost didn't know the names of her replacements, she also replied "It's weird that I kind of love it?"; 16x4, when she asked his opinion on her idea about Tyler Green (TG), and was so surprised when he said it was great, also she seem almost shy when he explained it to Emily.
3- After 7 years, Luke is still so in love with her. It's so clear that they had to put in an article (Variety). It's canon. Same for his jealousy. See below:
Tumblr media
4- Penelope made a really big steph, during season 16. She finally let him close, really close, really in, but also let herself the chance to consider Luke as a man, a whole human being, who could have feelings for her.
5- They are much closer. Think about what she said in their first scene: "I don't really discuss my personal life with my coworkers". And, after years and having shared hard moments, she still kept him at safe distance (14x8). Penelope said they will never be a duo. Then, she happily accepted his asked out, but, most important, she first said to him "me and you" (16x10, detailed analysis here).
6- Tyler Green is the draft of Luke Alvez. They have in common too much. Both were in the military. Both have a dark side (but Tyler is not so able to control it, while Luke does). And, the paralellism becomes almost absurd if you consider Tyler with Penelope. The way they started their relationship (not in a romantic way). The mutual hatred. Then, a kitten gift. The things he said her, even if in the wrong moment and for the worst reason (because after it they did what they did...)... the scene of their second kiss would have been so perfect for garvez finally kissing. Their "are we really doing this?" "yes, it seems we are" dialogue... imagining it with Luke at the place of TG. And when she called him at phone to close whatever there was between them... what he was doing? He was running alone, like a certain someone.
7- After their date, despite how went, Luke courtship is even more blunt. You can see it right in first episode of S16. He flirts with her a lot. His kiss to thank her. He didn't hide anything. He supported her a lot. His love is so strong and pure that he couldn't help but console her for TG. Luke just wants to see her happy.
8- The way Penelope looked at Luke in the last scene of 16x10. And anyway the way they look at each other. This is not changed. They still say a lot with their eyes.
9- Their date was awkard right because they care too much. Luke tried almost everything to make it work. Penelope backed out. This is only my opinion: she was too scared. She knew that with Luke she could be really herself, totally herself, without judgment (not like with Shane and Kevin). And she could have let him in for real. She never did it. Not even with Morgan.
10- Messer said that Penelope love situation will stay complicated next season. That it could be a triangle (Tyler-Penelope-Luke). She also said that they don't want to ruin garvez dynamic put them together as a couple... but I don't see it in a bad way. First, they are still working on the screenplay, so there is anything definitive. Second, they would have never said in a spoiler article "we will make garvez canon this season". They have to hold the attention of the audience. In another interview she said something about continue to deepen garvez relationship. They shared a lot emotionally; the next step must be about physical sphere.
11- Luke is allergic to cat, but still babysitting Sergio.
All my ramblings

Some things to expect for Gilbert's route in no particular order and for no particular reason.
Eyepatch=Heterochromia=Yandere? Unless he doesn't have heterochromia and they consider Keith's "eye color change" between softKeith and darkKeith to be the yandere aspect of this game and Gilberts eye is normal, he just uses it for the villain baddie aesthetic. Yeah. I could see him do that.
Kidnapping attempts. Lot's of them.
Emotional damage.
CaneBert = GunBert confirmed?
Unconventional uses of a cane…? (take that as you will)
Lots of murder😊
Biting. Lots of biting. And hickeys probably too. Establishing dominance through marking. He's a wannabe vampire. (Is the concept of vampires even a thing in this time?🤔)
Tragic backstory. Hit me hard Cybrid.
Confused Mc. Like is this dude lying or does he hate lies? Does he really like me or just wants to get close to me to f me up (in both ways).
By chapter 15 things are gonna start to get real. Like, I know that this is Gil that we're talking about so shits gonna be real from the first chapter but at 15 it's gonna hit the messed up mark. I expecte this route to be darker than this mans color palette.
Stressed Mc.
Choking scene. Yay or nay. Really depends on the context for some. But it's always gonna be yay for me, cuz I love me some messed up shit.
Sariel complaining about headaches. Do I need to explain why?
Concerned baby boy Rio. Rightfully so, I would say.
Complicated diplomatic stuff.
Going to Obsidian, probably via kidnapping but still. Cybrid you better make those Obsidian backgrounds. I wanna see what's up. I wanna see the room of this Emo/Goth Twilight lover boy.
Going to Obsidian, at the end. And actually staying there.
Yves involvement in something? I dunno, maybe some kinda blackmail stuff like they did in his route but different obviously. I hope my boy gets his time to shine even if just slightly. He's not one of my favs but I think he is very unappreciated and seeing him play a bigger role in Gils route of all them would be awesome.
Tea party with the three new princes. darkKeith, not the soft one cuz he wouldn't be near Gilbert unless it was mandatory. Or maybe he would just to be polite. I dunno.
Many trips to the kitchen to make food cuz he is an hungry boy. Really sticking to the tiger aspect on that one given that a pet tiger needs to eat at least, 6 kilos of meat per day. (Don't quote me on this very quick research I did)
Angry Gilby go brrrrrr
People avoiding Mc like the plague. Mc knowing that it's his fault but not wanting to blame him and Gilbert knowing it's his fault but it's convenient for him cause more time with his girl.
A d*ck measurement contest between Gil and Cheva. Rivalry to the max. Alpha males in action. A whole ass national geographic documentary on these fighting tigers. I wanna see blood.
They usually do one ending with Leon as king and another one with Chev when the route in question involves someone that either refuses to be prince or just can't. Gilbert ain't gonna forgive us in the Cheva ending.
Sexy CG.
It has been mentioned several times that Gilbert hates Mcs type of woman. Why? Is it because they're more difficult to break? Has he had someone like this screw with him? Is this "hate" disguising a "like" and Chev has just been reading him wrong? Because if so then Gilbert is even more mysterious than we thought.
Baby boy just wants to be loved🥺. And he knows that in his position only someone with an unbreakable and strong spirit like Emma would be able to do this, so he is toying and testing her.
Maybe it's just me, but I wanna see him cry. Because Angst. Even tho Emma will be the one that cries.
They've mentioned poison far too many times for me to not think that one of us is going to get poisoned. It would also paralel that one Chev ending.
Trampling. Get those killer boots working king.
Mansplain, Manipulate, Manslaughter 💅
Some crazy stuff with the emperor or whatever I can't remember but Gil says he's not as ruthless as him(the emperor) so aparently he his the big daddy of evilness.
Some Luke involvement? Since they share a background, it would be interesting.
The Bloodstained Day from Gils perspective.
Sexy CG. Please.
Figuring out how he gets undressed with all that stuff on. Sir, is that for protection? A bulletproof vest in the making?
Undressing Gilbert.
G string gloves. I want them to be relevant somehow.
Gil eating Clavis deserts. He likes them. He is crazy.
Murder spree stopped bcs Emma does some hope speech or surprises him in some way.
Is this the route where Mc is gonna have to fight? I want this Mc to be such a baddie. Like she's scared but she still has the backbone to talk to him like she would to Silvio. Hopefully she slowly grows to be less and less scared of him until she reaches that point. But of course there's gonna be some big thing happening that will break her down. Cause angst.
Maybe war? I think it will probably happen but the time that's spent in that could be time spent with Gilbert so maybe not?
We're gonna need a lot of interactions to understand and be simping for this man (the MC will, we players already are), so expect every chapter packed with Gilbert interactions. Especially bcs he is needy af.
Jealousy. Towards Chev. Maybe they'll play it off like in that one event where Mc and Chev are already close so gil has one more reason to steal her away. Remember this act starts in the middle of our time as Belle.
Because of that I feel like a good amount of stuff will happen after she chooses the king. But the bigger ones will come before. They're either going to have a lot of stuff happening in one day that spreads out through multiple chapters or they're gonna do this. Maybe a little bit of both.
They danced in the prologue didn't they? I want that to happen again.
This man is gonna force you to go everywhere and mixing that with your studies as Belle and always having to pull a facade, she's gonna be tired. So maybe a repeat of Gilpillow. Pillowbert? Maybe some cuddles.
Sexy CG. I want it.
Are we going to see Gils guest room? Or maybe they'll just recolor it like they did with Emma's room in Bentoite.
Gilbert scolding Silvio for his lack of manners but he is also kinda gay for him. The man said it himself, gender doesn't matter to me.
Don't know what happened in that event where the g string gloves come off and Gilbert is a stray cat out in the rain, but if there is something that is relevant to the story pls tell me ( and tell me what happened in that event while you're at it👀)
Suprised pikabert. Gilbachu? This sounds coursed when said out loud.
He wears red eyeliner. Will we get to put it on for him?
Feeding Gilbert.
This route better make me cry.
MC and Gil reading together. Imagine him just giving her some random obscure Obsidian book and just staring at her as she gets excited.
You know he is gonna use it to blackmail her but who cares really?
MC librarian in Obsidian.
If MC is the one that convinces Gil or the emperor or whoever, to form ties with rhodolite so that they can benefited from the land than she's gonna be the nations sweetheart. She saved them all so they'll have no problem having her as queen ☺️
Gilbert and kids interactions.
Maybe he has siblings or something.
I just wanna see him do a magic trick for the kids. And they all go wahh!
Thank God he is a man cuz if he was a woman performing a magic trick in the streets in this time, the kids would go wahh for another reason...
Gilbert pulling a sausage out of his clothes. Context is needed for this one but without the context it is also appreciated.
Please dont let him be the ninth lost brother of rhodolite.
Sariel should have given this man (king) a condom if he didn't want so many headaches.
He's gonna be the only child. He's deemed to be alone. It's why he likes kids. They're the little bros and sisters he never had.
A random kid just ask if they're in a relationship and Gilbert says yes. Of course he does.
And the they ask them to kiss.
Ah that's right, pecks on the cheeks. Apparently Gilbert likes to ask for those so...
Give me a sexy CG for god's sake.
And last but not least: Gifbert.
This was way longer than expected.
Feel free to add anything.

If Barbatos controls time and can send us through different timelines he just basically told us that different timelines and paralel worlds exsist, like in a world where he isnt a royal butler, or he does not have a pact with Solomon, could he enter this timeline? Probably he sent MC back in time.
Also Barbatos is secretive we dont know much about him we know in lore that Barbatos and Solomon go way back, and we can do a little digging in theology that some say he was a fallen angel. Now his appearence is discribed as some what of a an archer or like the fable of robin hood. Which we see In NB that he is in the forest.
Now im assumung come from little media and lore, he kills and betrays the one he serves, and he has probably seen this timeline but does not do anything about it and being loyal to the young prince.
Yeah, the thing about different timelines and parallel universes and a character who can travel between them is that this basically means anything is possible.
I think one of the theories about Nightbringer is that he is in fact Barbatos from a different timeline. A version of him that hasn't pledged his loyalty to Diavolo and therefore still uses his powers freely. I definitely think it's possible for this to happen.
It seems unlikely that anyone else could be behind sending MC back in time. Although we have a lot of interesting theories about who Nightbringer is, Barbatos and Michael are the only ones who have actually shown that they have time powers in some form. Yeah, Solomon's cooking sent us back in time, but that was likely just an accident. It's certainly possible that it wasn't an accident and that Solomon only pretends that he doesn't know what his cooking can do. But if we look at the information we have, the most likely scenario is Barbatos, though possibly from a different timeline.
The game definitely implies that there is some backstory with Barbatos that we don't know yet. There's a reason why he decided to stop using his powers. We just haven't been told that part yet. There's a reason he saved Solomon and brought him to the Fountain of Knowledge. But we don't know that yet, either.
I think it's possible that all of this has to do with why Nightbringer exists, who he is, and why he sent MC back in time.
Assuming that the alternate timelines are infinite, it's completely possible that there's one where Barbatos betrays Diavolo. That's how it goes when there's no end to the possible alternates. One little thing changes and suddenly Barbatos has a reason to lose his shit and take over the Devildom himself? Why not?
This is all part of why I find Barbatos to be such a fascinating character. I'm really curious to see where they go with his backstory and whether or not it's him or some version of him that's behind all the Nightbringer nonsense.

I still think about you describing Lalo as a shepherd and how he sees anyone outside his family as less than human, because I feel that really captures him perfectly. I believe he genuinely likes people in a broad general way; he seems very social and enjoys being around people. But it's always in that detached way where he doesn't care about most people as individuals. Like he can be amused or charmed or intrigued by someone for a bit but is capable of killing them without hesitation or remorse (very sexy of him tbh).
The writers are already emphasizing some Lalo/Kim parallels this season, but Kim's attitude towards other people is really reminiscent of Lalo's, even in earlier seasons. You ascribed the same "shepherd"-attitude to her that he has, in the sense that she will mercilessly dispatch wolves praying on her flock. And the other side of that is of course that she also views most people in that condescending way, as sheep which may need protection and guidance but exist on a completely different level to her and Jimmy, and ultimately don't matter as individuals. She likes them, but not as fellow humans.
...this is just me trying to goad you into expanding on this (or clarifying or disagreeing) because I loved it when you brought it up the first time and these parallels are super interesting to me
Yes, Lalo often finds the little people cute and he might feel a tinge of regret when he has to kill someone he likes, but it never stops him or even causes him serious regret. I think Lalo's cavalier attitude about his own death also colors this - he isn't especially afraid of death himself (everyone dies, after all), so he has a more philosophical view on the subject. I'm going to have to disagree about Kim, though. They have been drawing parallels between the characters, and I don't think we'll fully understand the relevance until the end of the show. However, Kim very deeply cares for all of her clients, and she does view them as individuals. It's her life's calling to help people in need - she's willing to sacrifice a lot for that. Like I said, we won't know exactly what these paralells mean until we get to the end, but this is what I'm brewing on and something I've been thinking about for a while - how much does motive matter in the Gilliverse? By drawing a parallel between Lalo, a very obviously villainous character, and Kim, a character with at least some virtuous motives*, they're pointing out that motives actually don't matter very much. What Kim intended and what her motivation was don't make an ounce of difference. Howard is as dead as he would have been if Kim had pulled the trigger herself * Kim's motive was also to get revenge on Howard, of course. However, I think it would be a huge mistake to declare her intentions about helping the needy insincere just because her motivation of revenge was shitty. She's complicated - both can be true!

Because I am way too anxious to bring this up off anon, I come to your inbox bearing anonymous musings.
Something I don't see a lot of is.. Link being anxious about the child prodigy that Tulin has always been. We see in HW: AoC and TOTK that Tulin, from a young age, has a lot of talent, and abilities most Rito don't have. Teba is a skilled warrior, but I can see Tulin, in his prime, easily surpassing that.
And Link gets to see that. Link gets to watch Tulin grow, helps the fledgeling grow, nurtures the adventurous warrior spirit of a boy who'll certainly fight alongside him someday, and someone he'll be proud to have there.
But the problem comes when ToTK comes around, and Tulin becomes a sage. I personally can see Link, maybe intentionally, maybe not, projecting who he once was, kinda still is, onto Tulin. This child prodigy, amazing with his favored weapon from the very start, slated to save the world, and all too willing to do it. And Tulin makes it clear that Link inspired Tulin's willingness, helped the fledgeling become fearless.
I think about the paralels between Tulin and Link very often. And, in my interpretations, as proud as Link is of Tulin for becoming a fine young man.. He can't help but remember how he used to be, when he pulled the Master Sword. And in the final battle, when Tulin is knocked out with the rest, I wonder if he thinks about how he brought a child, practically his little brother, into a situation where he could so easily die.
Sorry for the ramblings- i've been scrolling through your blog and thinking about your color hc especially and. I guess it sparked a bit of a brainrot "^^
first off: hello, hi! please don't ever be sorry for sending in an ask like this — i love discussing meta with others, especially on a level of engagement like this. i wish it'd happen more, really! genuinely, if you have more thoughts you'd like to share, i'd love to hear them out!!
okay okay, time to address your delicious content. i'm a botw and totk link enjoyer more than i am writer, so i can't give too many thoughts about him from my end ( would be stoked to hear any input from actual link writers though...eyes emoji ), but you came to the right place for tulin brainrot [rubbing my hands together]
you're right in a lot of aspects, particularly about the parallels between link and tulin. it's why i find their dynamic so compelling and crave to always play around with it, because it's at once they are fambly!! and this is who you could've been if given unconditional support and love — that you partake in because you are what you're trying to ensure he will never have to grow up to be.
( tulin also notably shares many parallels with revali! one in particular that tickles me silly whilst also making me emo is like. how irreverent they are? because they put so much stock in hard work and meaningful results...revali has his knight with the darkness-sealing sword that he can't fathom putting such an alarming amount of faith in as the "key to defeating calamity ganon" when all he's done to earn that title is pull a sword; tulin has his stormwind ark that his people are pinning all their hopes on for no reason other than it appears in a Song, when they're basically starving and struggling and could be doing something actually substantial ( disclaimer: they are both unreliable narrators ). aside from age and other obvious character intricacies, they're pretty much one banger support system removed from being each other...but that's a ramble for another time sldfkjld )
and yes, totk made it very clear that tulin and link are familiar to that extent! i am still so thankful for it! we'll never know the specifics, but honestly, the mere act of giving tulin someone else — someone more present and tangible than revali ( at least until aoc sldkfjdf but after that as well! ) — to chase after and strive to be like would've been impactful enough on its own!! and yeah, he has his dad too, but what teba represents is very different from what link represents!
link projecting onto tulin in that way is a concept i'm glad you brought up, because it would for sure add another great layer to their relationship! all those complicated emotions...yessss, i eat it all up!! and i can definitely see how far link's feeling of responsibility over tulin would stretch, both as someone caring for a kid and as someone caring for his little brother, but the thing is...tulin would be doing his damnedest to be there even if link — or anyone, including his parents — said no.
tulin's hierarchy of people i want to be like and surpass is still, to this day: 1) revali <- 2) teba <--> 2.0001) link. and while link's absolutely been a huge inspiration in important departments, tulin's pluck, drive, and eagerness to do whatever he can is and has always been all his own. link may help enable him, but tulin has consistently not been able to stand by and do nothing if he can help it! combine this with his legitimate skills and cultural values — i.e. how integral warriorhood is to the rito — and you get a preteen who is going to be there with you 'til the end, as he promised, whether you or anyone else likes it or not :')
WHICH, you know, could feed into the parallels...and hence the projection...they would benefit from a real sit-down-and-talk, probably slfdldk and if nothing else, i hope link takes heart in the fact that tulin has a sincerely great support system in his family and community — there will be really bad days to the really good days, of course, but he gets to be a kid ( no matter how much he refuses to acknowledge this ), and he gets to work through his traumas and insecurities in full, and he gets to heal. i promise you, he gets to heal!
i have other murky thoughts i cannot properly collate right now, but i think i got the bulk of what i wanted to say out lskfjldg thank you so much for sending this in!! it was a pleasure to read through and answer ♡

For the Choose Violence ask game - Discworld 12, 17, 18, 22
Hello! And thanks fro the ask <3
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Igor from the Monstrous Regiment. It's not that she's unpopular but she's not as talked about as other Discworld character, which makes sense since she's just a minor character in one novel, but I just wish I could see more of her. Igors are such interesting family/species (are they an idependent species? not sure) but most of the ones which appear in Dicsworl novels are men and it would be very cool to see how female Igors operate. also Igor was such a badass - just sew her own scalp on, can switch her face however she wants - would make for a great undercover agent and I really want to see that kinda story
Also Letitia Keepsake. The girl starts as the stereotypical shallow fiancee of a man Tifanny may or may not fancy but then proves to be such empathetic caring girl with incredible potential to be a witch. She gives a Teddy bear to a wailing ghost! And a pumpkin to a headless rider spectre so he could carry it around instead a head! Her mother is this awful bosy judgy woman and it would be easy for Letitia to be just her mother's brainless lackey and I mean she is under her mother's thumb in a way, but she also does her own things and is curious and kind and brave and frankly a bit too good for Roland but I digress. Anyways I want more of her.
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
There should be more art of the entire Monstrous Regiment regiment. Most art is of Poly and Maledicta but all regiment members are so cool. Also more Angua fanart.
As for fics I think every fandom should have *insert character that dies in canon* meets Death (or Susan bcs Death is on the vacation) fic, just for fun and to help deal with the trauma
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
I feel like I don't see people talk about the discworld trolls that much. Which I feel is usch a shame because they are such an interesting species… I mean they get stereatyped as being big and dumb but they're actually quite clever only they are constantly in an enviroment which does not allow their intellect to be shown.
Also idk if this counts but I find it said no one is discussing paralels between Lavender Jack the webcomic and Captain Vimes (specifically in Nightwatch). I know it's random and most people do not talk abt it bcs they just have not read the Lavender Jack. still I think it's be cool
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
I'm basic bitch so I don't think I have a bit which only I appreciatte. But as soemone who studies psychology I have great fondness to that one bit where Vimes explains that you cannot deduce someone's entire life from one time you pass him on the street because many things can have different meanings like a tattoo can mean the man spent time with navy or that he made a drunk decision to get tatttoed when he was a teenager. And that's rings so true becuase in psychology there are a lot of symptoms and behavioral patterns hwich can mean certain mental condition... or another condition which is completely different or it can be normal behavior given the right circumstances - and that's why diagnozing is so hard, even though I met a lot of people in my life who think that just because someone acts certain way they have to be *insert diagnosis here*. which is according to these people *bad*. My point is basically that I like the aknowledgement that things are not always striaght cut becuase HUMANS ARE COMPLICATED
Also, but this is more of a language barrier thing and technically not and issue relating canon - something I really love but a lot of people have no chance of experiencing are the joys of czech tranlsation of the books. The translator Jan Kanturek did absolutely masterful job and he often adds his own translator notes to make some interesting comments (not like adding to the Discworld lore, but like to explain certain real world references or highlight soem hilarious parts) and I mean if oyu like disworld footnotes from Sir Terry I can guarantee these ones are also great. (There was this one where he explained the czech/slovak word "kurva" (meaning wh*re) used to be an archaic term to refer to girls in general so about a century ago a proud parent somewhere in Moravia may proclaim something like "we have two little boys and a little wh*re" and idk but I still remember that one to this day and like to quote it on people to show how the language changes)
Also also - unrelated but ever since I read I Shall Wear Midnight my dream wedding ceremony invovles jumping through fire and while the officiant calls me and my significant other profanities XD.

*slides in with sunglasses on* 😎 Well hello there.
I hope you can share some time with me. *wiggles eyebrows* You know that a 'professional', 'fandom approaved' matchmaker needed to be matched with somebody too. XD
Alright, I'll stop with the tomfoolery. Maybe.
💫
✨ I changed my name to Erlando no, it's still Polly. I am 21 years old. *looks down* I think I am still a girl.
✨ My hobbies include: writing things that will never happen to me, drawing people that will never be real, listening to music in order to travel to a paralel world, watching videos that rot my brain and playing the game that lets me control other people (aka. Genshin Impact).
✨ My personality... Oh, boy. Alright. Time to expose myself. XD
I'm actually very strict in real life. When I am with my little sister, people often think that I am her mother because of how nurturing I am. It doesn't mean that I don't like to goof around, I actually enjoy it a lot! I am not very good at joking and I prefer to laugh at people's jokes rather than make my own (because they are Cyno level bad).
I have my own principles and I follow them. There are times I am very skeptical of everything and it shows on my face. Some people get scared of it, hence they run away before I can say a judging speech.
But this happens very rarely. If I am surrounded by good people (and there are a lot of them where I live), then there's no need for me to be skeptical.
I act calm if the person prefers to have calm conversations, and I can be silly if it's what my interlocutor is more comfortable with. Although, I get very loud when I make myself a fool.
✨I want to marry and have children, so, obviously, I want a man who values his family and wants to start one too. He has to be good with money (because I am bad at it) and he has to be very initiative to keep my attention on my goals instead of doing something else. He has to have a kind heart too!
✨I dislike it when people are indecisive. I hate this trait in myself, so I can't tolerate it in other people. I don't like it when people don't make sense and are greedy, money-grabbing. I prefer it if people are more humble. I like people who are very creative and think outside of the box. I like people who purposefully break stereotypes. I get along with shy people and I love them.
✨ My favorite romance tropes would be 'shy person x confident, sly person', 'huge man x little girl', and I love it when two characters are slowly falling in love while doing something together. And I ADORE it when a man acts like hopeless romantic while the woman is oblivious to his sincere affections and obvious pining — this trope is GOLD!
💫
I hope this helps, Dust. :D If your requests are closed by the time send it in, oh well, that's alright! I will still have fun reading your matchups!
Hehe! ~ Hiii, let's see what one matchmaker has in store for another matchmaker... well then:
Your Perfect Match is...

The first time you stumbled into you was at the town square in Mondstadt, you were taking care of your sister who had been pushed on the cobblestone by Timmie and was now crying.
He went over to you and inquired if you needed help with anything, which you at first declined but eventually asked him if it would be a bother if he could go fetch some ice for your sister's knee.
He gladly obliged and was quick to bring you some ice. That was where your first interaction ended and you didn't see him for a good amount of time until your paths crossed again a few weeks later.
You wanted to thank him for helping you with your sister's injury back then and thought about how you could repay him for it so you offered to buy him a drink. He agreed to it.
The longer you talked over your drinks the more you realized there was some chemistry between you two, which he too noticed. As the evening ended you both agreed that you should meet up again. Which you did.
He was the one to make the first move eventually, telling you that he has started to develop feelings for you and would like to pursure something more serious with you if you're willing (of course you agreed!).
You two would be perfect for each other not only because your horrible jokes actually crack him up (let's be real, Cyno level bad means that they're so bad they're funny again. An artform in itsself, so to speak).
He loves both your silly and your calm and serious side - you're basically the whole package and everyday feels like an adventure with you.
Like you he would like to have a family one day and would love to marry and have children.
Good with money? I mean, yeah. He's leading an entire wine empire, of course he is good with money.
He would be very supportive of you and your goals as well and would definitely make sure you don't get sidetracked.
Bonus points for you: he is very easy to fluster, you just love seeing him all blushy and shy (don't push it too much though, give him a break sometimes, hehe ~).

The Croods (2013)
Originally published February 4th, 2014
The Oscars are becoming less and less important to me, but some things still pique my interest.  I couldn't help but notice that after the controversy of Pixar taking home an Oscar last year, none of its 2013 projects were nominated for an Oscar this year.  What furthered my suspicion of manipulation were the projects that were nominated over Pixar's, specifically in the Best Animated Feature category.  The Croods received a nomination.  I thought "Hmm.  Let me watch this.  Let me see if The Croods truly deserves a shot at recognition over Monsters University."
It doesn't.  Buckle in, kids.  I have a lot to say.
At first, I thought this:
HOW can your theme POSSIBLY be don't be afraid if you constantly demonstrate all the hostilities ever present in the environment around you?  What good reason is there to just NOT BE AFRAID?
But then I thought:
Well, I guess they're implying that despite these dangers, there's a hope to overcome them.  That there are ways around them, as demonstrated by a nomadic friend who shows them inventions of his to overcome obstacles.  With the hope to alleviate their fears with solutions, they can "not be afraid".  Fine.  Alright.
At first, I thought this:
WHY just be a story about not being afraid?!  It would be so much more interesting if it were a story about finding a balance between living in fear and living your life.  After all, they live in such a dangerous world!  It seems remiss to just say "don't be afraid" when people should carry some fear with them!
But then I thought:
Well, some of my favorite movies have simple themes.  Beauty and the Beast was inhenrently just about inner beauty.  I can't fault a movie just because it isn't necessarily complex.  Alright... Fine...
And that's about where I draw the line with giving the movie credit, because it was just sloppy.  Even if its theme is forgivable, it just wasn't done in an interesting way.  You had the central character, the dad, who wanted to stay afraid, and this new guy constantly showing him up by proving you didn't have to be afraid.  And you just watched this father's entire family turn on him, and it's one of THOSE movies.  Where the main character is wrong the entire time, everyone knows he's wrong, and then he changes his ways.
That pisses me off.  Why would I want to see the character I'm supposed to be rooting for just suck for two-thirds of the movie, only to catch up with everybody else at the end?  That's not even growth, that's just--leveling the playing field.  At least if the movie HAD subscribed to the more complex theme, the central character could have been right to an extent.  His urge to be afraid could have been useful.
In fact, I almost thought the movie might go in that direction.  When a big, catastrophic volcano eruption happens, everyone seems inclined to be afraid.  It seems that fear might keep them alive!  NOPE.  The movie isn't ballsy enough to have a climax hinging on "SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO BE AFRAID".  It wasn't going to be a movie where the dad learned to be less afraid while the traveler learned to be more afraid.  It was destined to have that BEAUTIFUL, INTERESTING PARALELL.  Naw, instead, when everybody starts to get afraid, the dad is suddenly not afraid.  Like, in one moment, EVERYBODY reversed their positions.  I want to say this expresses how passionate the father character is about what he believes in, as when he changes his ways, he finds himself even less afraid than his newly fearless family.  But I would likely just be humoring myself.
There were other problems as well.  The progression of the story was not that interesting.  It was essentially the family trying to find a safe place to go.  That would be compelling if there were constant danger provoking them to find this place, but there wasn't.  In fact, most of the movie was just a pleasant romp that really only served to prolong the dad's arc of "not be afraid".  There was hardly any forward motion to keep the plot going.
Listen.  I like slapstick.  I'm willing to permit it in animated movies.  Sure.  A little lightning strike that leaves you unscathed, a giant boulder falling on top of you, alright.  It could be problematic that slapstick lowers the stakes when actual danger comes around as it’s been proven the character can take a lot, but good storytelling can get you nervous at the right moments.  But this movie--it had occasional bouts of slapstick and that was it.  There wasn't any consistency.  It just confused you whenever there was action because you couldn't tell if it would result in slapstick or legitimate pain.  (And also, a movie that's about overcoming fear might not benefit much from slapstick, which tends to imply a nearly supernatural imperviousness to things.)
Among the other sloppy things included the story beats.  All the sentimental parts of the movie were talked out extensively, which is always annoying.  I don't want to see the movie not have any confidence that its theme is told clearly enough without specific dialogue being spat out.  There was a lot of "What's this?"-eqsue caveman humor that kept making the characters stupid (and stupidity tends to be an unlikable trait when in such great numbers.)  And the CHARACTERS.  I'll need a new paragraph for that...
The designs were unimpressive.  Most of them exhibited what I call "crazy eyes", which is when there isn't enough white around the pupils.  It just looks offputting.  And I really try not to make this criticism, but the voices really didn't fit the characters.  The characters actually seemed more expressive than the voices coming out of them, and the voices themselves just didn't really exert much of anything.  The performances were powerless.  Whoever directed the actors sucked at their job.  And poor Catherine Keener, hardly given any lines.  Of the six family members, only the dad and the daughter were even close to important.  The other characters were just shoved in the background.  Not that any of those character had an ounce of development, but they had the potential to be interesting.  They could have easily been developed and used more.  But they just kind of existed as talking tropes.  Every character.  Which is the absolute worst kind of character to write.
I'm honestly kind of astonished with how much I disliked about The Croods.  I was never interested in watching it, but its Oscar nomination made my viewing of it inevitable.  I expected average family stuff, and that's what I wound up getting.  But I was just taken aback by how unimpressive average really is.  It offered me nothing new.  Aside from two chuckles, all this movie gave me was confusion that was eventually replaced with disappointment.  They had cavemen, cool creatures, vibrant settings!  There's so much that could be done with that to be engaging and new!  But nope.  They just had to make the movie all...
...
...primitive.

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CV
It was a love story from the very beginning
Gabe, the Sexologist Archangel
(13x20/13x21)
Hello my dears! I will talk today about a very interesting topic and how Gabriel's character was used as a reminder and also as a realization of angelic sexuality. Not just that, but a constant introspection to sexuality too for Dean.
Gabe as a reflection of Dean
First of all and before jumping to Gabriel sexy bones, let's talk about the way Dean was talking with his husband at the phone as he was scolding his little brother at the same time... I'm talking about episode 13x20, "Unfinished Business"...
[Dean’s on the phone with Cas]
DEAN: Yeah. No, we just got in. Mm-hmm.
DEAN, to SAM: What are you doing? Don't unpack.
SAM: Dude, we could be here for days.
DEAN: No. No. Hey, hell, no.
DEAN [again to Cas over the phone]: Hey -- No, not you. That's… Just call us when you get to Amarillo, all right?
[he disconnects his call]
Why am I pointing at this scene? Because when Dean realizes Castiel thought he was yelling to him, he immediately changed his body language and the tone of his voice became more sweet, almost intimate, as if he was saying: 'No, not you, babe." It looks like that and it sound like that. Just go rewatch that scene and die with me.
The encounter with Gabe
Gabriel will speak and behave as if he were showing future Dean, but also, will bring the sexual references.
Just a little thing over here to connect with my meta of hands and foreshadow, in the middle of the battle between the Nordic gods and the boys we had Sam touching his neck, as a foreshadow of they way he will die in episode 13x21.
Gif credit @myheartofmusic
Tumblr media
DEAN: Whatever. What did they want with you?
GABRIEL: I killed their brother.
This is very meaningful because if we took the demigods as the angels and Gabriel talking about killing their brother, it's what Dean will do when he will kill Lucifer in 13x23.
While Gabriel was telling his story, Dean was the one imagining it. And how his mind went from porn stars to watch a man receiving a relaxing touching from a handsome black haired boy with a red ascot, related to Dean and his own bisexuality.
GABRIEL: Don't let anybody ever tell you you're just a pretty face.
[Dean frowns and shakes his head at that]
This is so cute, because Dean is listening to him as if Gabe was his teacher. He feels identify with Gabe story and words. Gabe is literally, a Destiel Sexologist.
GABRIEL: Oh. That top one? That is for the man with the plan, the architect of my torture, and my own personal public enemy numero uno. Their papa… Loki.
The big similitude between Gabriel's revenge on Loki for being his torture, and Dean's trying to find and kill AUMichael, for being his torture too, in 14x03, is noticeable.
Another important paralell is Gabe taking a new identity to hide, but, adopting Loki's shape by doing it. This is the same with AUMichael, who will take Dean and a woman's shape.
Another foreshadows...
Pay attention to Kevin's last words...
KEVIN: Michael doesn't want to kill you. He wants to break you. He said for me to tell you that, “Even if you win, you still lose.” I'm sorry.
This is what Michael will do with Dean. He will break him while releasing him at first, making him think he won, and then will possese him again in 14x09.
Dean going alone to kill Loki is Jack going alone to kill Michael.
But... Loki vs Gabe (played by the same actor, it means, the same two faces) as a foreshadow for AUCas vs Cas, but mostly, AUMichael vs Dean in Rocky's bar (14x10)
Now, it's time to see Angels can have active sexuality.
Jumping to episode 13x21...
Let's talk about Sammy's dream. And Castiel, the pizza man, giving Dean his pizza. Even when he ate 7 pieces.

7 is the number that will appear too on episode 15x10. And is symbolically talking about TRUTH. So, practically, Dean will have the truth from Castiel in 15x18!
But also the innuendo that comes with it... Because this episode will talk about angelic sexuality.
Grace and virility
A lot of points and scenes with sexual innuendo throughout the episode, because Gabe is here:
Gabe taking off his own grace could be related to masturbation, thanks to Castiel's hands gestures and Dean's reaction.
The little grace Gabe gives them to open the portal was related to Erection. Also Gabe following "the fall" of the rift with his own sword.

His dialogue with Rowena as he read a book with a pipe on it, another sexual reference to erection.
The seduction after that between the red haired witch and the Archangel.
The "make out session or more" between Rowena and Gabe with it's consequences as they were caught: Dean is amazed, Sam is speechless and Castiel is ashamed (because the sacred oath).
The incident after they arrived to the AU, in which Gabe's face is on Castiel's crotch, a very gay scene for Dean's eyes. Which at first was staring at them with curiosity and suddenly in turned out into a gay panic mode.

The triumph over the brother's pathological codependency (at least for now)
When Sam dies there was another scene writers tried to show how the pathologic codependency could be left behind. Castiel stops Dean who was heading to look after Sam. The angel said it was in vein because he was already dead and there was a mission: to find Mary and Jack.
The trust in Castiel won over the codependency between brothers. Even when it was a very controversial way to show it.
To Conclude:
Gabe's character introduction brought the idea of sexualization of grace and angels.
The idea of a sexual active Castiel blocked by the sacred oath and the introspection of Dean's bisexuality.

You've talked about Core 4 and VA/BJ being essential to Riverdale narrative and why you're sure BA won't stay together. And I mostly agree with you (I just think it's boring how predictable it is, sorry! You do deserve your first endgame!). But where do you think the lack of BV/JA in these last seasons fits with what you said about what holds Riverdale narrative (and renewal) together? And why VJ don't have interactions of their own?
hello, happy friday!
thanks for supporting my endgame crusade lol!
i always tend to go for journey > destination on a show and i never care all that much about endgames, tbh. the only reason why i’m confident here is because in riverdale i feel like all journeys just point to one direction and the canon is really, really, like you said, predictable. i happen to like varchie for a thousand reasons, and while i’m not the biggest current bughead shipper (i still hold on a lot to their s1 shape, although i do like them a lot), i see that for them as well. so in this case, the journey and destination here kind of aligned. even if they are not the best written ships in the world - they aren’t! riverdale’s writing is seriously flawed in all fronts. but they’re what holds the show together as it is, and it might be a sucky show, but it’s the show that people out there care about, and the show that sells.
the thing is, if riverdale was a coming of age, character driven teen drama, like one tree hill, dawson’s creek, etc, i think the relationship shake ups would be much meaningful and wouldn’t disrupt the show’s formula all that much. that is, they wouldn’t be used as a plot device/a plot twist, they’d actually have impact in the storytelling. i’m sure that if you watched oth, you can see the difference that was, storytelling wise, lucas cheating on brooke and archie cheating on veronica now. it was all a major focus, we had scenes between all three characters leading up to that for episodes. riverdale doesn’t do that, because that’s not their focus. their focus is the mystery, and bughead solving the mystery, and varchie doing something highly dramatic/telenovela on the side, and whatever else they need from the other characters and relationships.
unfortunately, that happens to beronica and jarchie as well. they only interact when the plot needs them to interact. we are meant to believe that these are strong friendships, but we are not meant to see it, unless the plot needs us to. it happens to ba as well (especially their friendship scenes, they’re so rare. they just interact when they’re about to fight jv and be upset with them lol). and jughead/veronica is no different, but there is this concept that boys/girls cannot be friends in the media without it becoming instantly a build-up for some sort of romance (and the show proves it with veggie in s3, and archosie, etc), so they don’t have jeronica interact unless it serves the plot. there’s a lot of paralleling between them as subtext, but that’s all up to interpretation. actual canon shows us very little.
the core4 are bugvarchie, ba/jv paralelling, and we believing that jarchie and beronica are bffs. other interpretations exist but they will not hold the show formula, imo. and the time jump is just gonna be more of the same.

Why Jonsa does not work in the books.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This post is where starts the conflict. Jonsa thoughs. My toughts.
What makes a lot o people ship Jon x Sansa is because of the show, and I can understand it. Ship what you want. It's your right.
It does not mean that people can lie about what happens in the books, or what is cannon by GrrM himself.
D&D gave part of Arya's history and traits to Sansa in the show. Fact.
Jeyne Poole was using Arya's name. She was the one that was abused by Ramsay Balton. This false Arya was the one that the North went into a War, and the one that made Jon Snow break his vows. It was not Sansa who Jon fought and died for.
Ship what you want. You are free to ship. Making paralelles about Cat and Ned with Jonsa. Okay. I am a Jonrya shipper. I make parallels of Jonrya and Lyanna/Rhaegar and Alyssane/Jaehaerys. We are passionate shippers after all, in a fandom where morality is not a big deal the most part of time. You have a mean to make your point, then use it.
But whatever. GrrM said that the show and the books are like different universes. Words of the author. You can't discuss that.
What I can NOT take is people lying about canonic things, and my mind explodes when I read a lot of lies of the books to justify Jonsa.
Like Sansa is Jon's type. Like Jon remembers of Sansa when he met Ygritte. Like Jon and Sansa were always close. Lies!
He compares Ygritte to Arya, tought he addmit they don't even look alike, he never, never tought about Sansa while with Ygritte. He compares Val to Arya.
"They had always been close. Jon had their father’s face, as she did. They were the only ones. Robb and Sansa and Bran and even little Rickon all took after the Tullys, with easy smiles and fire in their hair. When Arya had been little, she had been afraid that meant that she was a bastard too. It had been Jon she had gone to in her fear, and Jon who had reassured her." (Jon, A Game of Thrones).
"And Arya … he missed her even more than Robb, skinny little thing that she was, all scraped knees and tangled hair and torn clothes, so fierce and willful. Arya never seemed to fit, no more than he had … yet she could always make Jon smile. He would give anything to be with her now, to muss up her hair once more and watch her make a face, to hear her finish a sentence with him." (Jon, A Game of Thrones)
"The memory of her laughter warmed him on the long ride north." (Jon, A Game of Thrones)
"Gods of my fathers, protect these men. And Arya too, my little sister, wherever she might be. I pray you, let Mance find her and bring her safe to me." (Jon, A Dance with Dragons)
"Bring her home, Mance. I saved your son from Melisandre, and now I am about to save four thousand of your free folk. You owe me this one little girl." (Jon, A Dance with Dragons)
“I have no sister.” The words were knives.
"The girl smiled in a way that reminded Jon so much of his little sister that it almost broke his heart." (Jon, A Dance with Dragon)
"What do you know of my heart, priestess? What do you know of my sister? "(Jon, A Dance with Dragons)
The Ygritte comparation:
“Jon could see fear and fire in her eyes. Blood ran down her white throat from where the point of his dirk had pricked her. One thrust and it’s done, he told himself. He was so close he could smell onion on her breath. She is no older than I am. Something about her made him think of Arya, though they looked nothing at all alike. “Will you yield?” he asked, giving the dirk a half turn. And if she doesn’t?” - Jon VI, ACoK
“Ygritte watched and said nothing. She was older than he’d thought at first, Jon realized; maybe as old as twenty, but short for her age, bandy-legged, with a round face, small hands, and a pug nose. Her shaggy mop of red hair stuck out in all directions. She looked plump as she crouched there, but most of that was layers of fur and wool and leather. Underneath all that she could be as skinny as Arya.” - Jon VI, ACoK
“Ygritte trotted beside Jon as he slowed his garron to a walk. She claimed to be three years older than him, though she stood half a foot shorter; however old she might be, the girl was a tough little thing. Stonesnake had called her a “spearwife” when they’d captured her in the Skirling Pass. She wasn’t wed and her weapon of choice was a short curved bow of horn and weirwood, but “spearwife” fit her all the same. She reminded him a little of his sister Arya, though Arya was younger and probably skinnier. It was hard to tell how plump or thin Ygritte might be, with all the furs and skins she wore.” - Jon II, ASoS
“If you kill a man, and never mean t’, he’s just as dead,” Ygritte said stubbornly. Jon had never met anyone so stubborn, except maybe for his little sister Arya. Is she still my sister? he wondered. Was she ever?” - Jon III, ASoS
When he received the letter of Ramsay
"Jon saw no reason not to tell him. “Moat Cailin is taken. The flayed corpses of the ironmen have been nailed to posts along the kingsroad. Roose Bolton summons all leal lords to Barrowton, to affirm their loyalty to the Iron Throne and celebrate his son’s wedding to…” His heart seemed to stop for a moment. No, that is not possible. She died in King’s Landing, with Father."
"Jon could almost see her in that moment, long-faced and gawky, all knobby knees and sharp elbows, with her dirty face and tangled hair. They would wash the one and comb the other, he did not doubt, but he could not imagine Arya in a wedding gown, nor Ramsay Bolton’s bed. No matter how afraid she is, she will not show it. If he tries to lay a hand on her, she’ll fight him."
"His fingers closed around the parchment. Would that they could crush Ramsay Bolton’s throat as easily." (Jon, a Dance with Dragons).
"Jon felt as stiff as a man of sixty years. Dark dreams, he thought, and guilt. His thoughts kept returning to Arya. There is no way I can help her. I put all kin aside when I said my words. If one of my men told me his sister was in peril, I would tell him that was no concern of his. Once a man had said the words his blood was black. Black as a bastard’s heart. He’d had Mikken make a sword for Arya once, a bravo’s blade, made small to fit her hand. Needle. He wondered if she still had it. Stick them with the pointy end, he’d told her, but if she tried to stick the Bastard, it could mean her life." (Jon, A Dance with Dragons).
• In books the quote “Love is the death of duty” by Maester Aemon is used when Jon decidesld break his vows from nights watch to save “Arya”. Arya is the character Jon loves the most and he thinks on her in every moment.
He dies thinking about Arya:
"Jon fell to his knees. He found the dagger’s hilt and wrenched it free. In the cold night air the wound was smoking. “Ghost,” he whitspered. Pain washed over him. Stick them with the pointy end. When the third dagger took him between the shoulder blades, he gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold…" (Jon, A Dance with Dragons).
George's Interviews:
“At some points, when [Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I had discussions about what way we should go in, I would always favor sticking with the books, while they would favor making changes,” he said. “I think one of the biggest ones would probably be when they made the decision not to bring Catelyn Stark back as Lady Stoneheart. That was probably the first major diversion of the show from the books and, you know, I argued against that, and David and Dan made that decision.” - Time Magazine, 2017
“You have to remember that I started writing this story in 1991 and I first met David and Dan in 2007. I was living with these characters and this world for 16 years before we even started working on the show. They’re pretty fixed in my mind and I’m not going to change anything because of the show, or reaction to the show, or what fans think. I’m just still writing the story that I set out to write in the early 1990s.” - Time Magazine, 2017
My conclusion:
Like I said before. You are free to ship everyone, but not lie about Canon things written by George RR Mantin himself. This is the canonic verse. Jon and Samsa rarely think of each other. Sansa was always distant from him, she regreats it later, but still is a fact. I am not an anti-Sansa. She is not my favorite, i addmit, but anti, for me, is somente idiot that says stupid arguements with insults just to put another character in glory, only because they dislike another, and even refuse to aguement as adults. In another words, those antis are childsh.
There is a lot of people saying that Jon would be good for Sansa and take him out of her is something cruel, as everything that is good for her is fanservice. We agree in disagree. There is no way we could try taking Jon from Sansa, if he was not hers in first place. Like I said, they rarely think of each other, she bullied him when they lived together, she kept distance following Cat's personal opinion. Sansa's fault? No. She was a child seeing her mother's opinions, and following it. It does not change what she have done. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that Jon hates her, but the memories he shares with Sansa during his childhood are not the best. It doesn't mean they won't get along. They will! Of course they will, by all they could know, they would be the lasts of the Starks alive. Sansa might go to Winterfell in TWoW before Arya. Would they get closer? Probably. Will they share the same bond showned on TV show? No. This is bad for her? No. She would be home, with her family. This is bad to you? Sounds terrible? Does it sounds harsh?
Like, other thing that I hate about Jonsa-stans (just a part of them) justifies that she needs someone to make her happy. With all respect, if you think this way about Sansa, you do not like her. Not really. Sansa is much more complex of a character to say that only a romantic relationship with a man could make her happy. She does not need someone else in a romantic way to make her happy. She passed through a hell in King's Landing, and Petyr actions with her can be described only as disgusting. To say the only good thing that could happen to her is a man, you are reducing her character to a simple one. Everything she wants it's to go home. She is smart, kind and clever. Sansa is making Petyr Baelish play in her hands. I don't want Sansa to end up alone. She deserves a lot. She is really strong, in so many ways. Her strengh is not like Arya, Ygritte or Val. It's subtle and delicate, like Margaery in someway. Sansa deserves a man who respects her, a man who loves her with all his heart, a man that carries for her the same way Jon carries for Arya. Uconditionally.
Other thing that I hear is that Jonsa stans always says that, we, Arya-stans, look to Jonsa as threat to Arya, and we all get mad about it. I can't talk in the name of the others. For me, fuck the show. I don't care. I don't even look at the show as part of GrrM work anymore. But what gets me mad as an Arya stan, and a Jonrya shipper is not Jonsa itself. They had chemistry on screen, but in the books they don't have any of it. This is what gets me mad.
It's trying to stole something that belongs to Jon and Arya alone that gets me mad. One of the strongest and purest bonds I have ever seen in books or screen. It doesn't belong to Sansa all this devotion. It's not canon in the books, and annoys me to see tons of people lying and self inserting Sansa in Jon's heart just because they want the books to happen the same way in the show. Forget it. It's not going to happen. A lot of other characters and relationships have been destroyed by D&D, not only Jon & Arya. Write and read fanfics. Ship whatever the hell you want, but don't lie about cononic things. If Jon and Arya get along as a romantic couple or not, does not change that this bond is theirs. Sansa has her own history in the books. Her own importance. She wil be part to take Winterfell back, not the same way she did on the show, but she will be a big part of it. And she is a Stark! The end! Sansa is a southern lady in many ways, but she is Sansa Stark and a princess by her own right, dammit! She says it herself that her strengh comes from the walls within Winterfell!
Thank you to read. I have to be greatful to another posts that helped me to write it. I have to say sorry about my grammar. English is not my first language, but I hope what I wrote was clear to understand. See you soon.

I just binge read your serie For reasons wretched and divine, and I love it so so much! The wholle concept is amazing, and I love the whole idea with paralel worlds and mythology and all that. You did a great job with the world building, and don't even let me get started on the way you depict each and every single character!!! They have so much depth and personality, and I can see them so vividly in front of me. Truly, such a well-written piece of fiction! You are a great writer, and you left me hanging and waiting for the next chapter! 😂 I really can't wait to read and see what is going to happen next, and assist on the love story between Y/N and Chan❤️ I soo love it when I find such gifted writers in here.
