Honestly, in all my time of being on DID tumblr and discords, I don't think I've ever really seen people talk about growing up in an environment where animal abuse was present and thats not me criticizing it, shits hard, but I feel there is so little talk about how depressingly futile it is to grow up watching animals get screwed over and hurt on the regular.

Growing up surrounded by animal abuse is very traumatic and yet I dont see it talked about in many trauma spaces and I only really now noticed it.

It genuinely makes me wonder why and sometimes makes me wonder if significant animal abuse is just... somehow not that common?

Input and discussion is welcome and if anyone is comfortable sharing, does anyone else out there have trauma surrounding animal abuse? Cause Im genuinely wondering if its not common or if its just not talked about

I personally believe that people should read the American Psycho book because no paragraph has ever blindsided me as hard as Patrick Bateman getting a raging boner from making eye contact with Bono at a U2 concert. This was a few pages after he got so distressed by a pride parade he had to go home, change suits, give himself a pedicure and torture a small dog to death. He glosses over that so quickly I thought I made it up.

Since I still get (well-intentioned) people telling me "Hey, did you know that you can teach apes to use sign language?", if you don't know already, Koko the gorilla almost certainly couldn't really talk with signing, the videos of her doing so have high evidence of doctoring and behind-the-scenes coaching, the majority of animals in the whole ape language project were abused (including Koko herself), and the studies were butchered and manipulated for media attention. As for now, there is no real evidence that apes can understand and use language much more than a dog can learn to connect symbols and noises with meanings, for example.

 if you ARE in New York, there were two very severe hoarding situations uncovered recently.  One is in Yonkers and the other is in  Westchester County.

Yonkers cat rescue: around 200 cats discovered in a house are being handled by the Yonkers Animal Rescue.  They do not utilize fosters, but they badly need food, money, and support.  They’re reaching out to other cat rescues in the area that DO use fosters.  The cats appear to be social.

Westchester County situation: around 150 cats are being handled by the SPCA of Westchester.  These cats were left alone without food and water for days after their owners passed away.  These cats were called ‘abysinnian mixes’ by the folks I spoke to.  They mostly need financial support.

maedhros and maglor both as shelter cats but maedhros has lost all faith in humanity and hisses scratches and bites and maglor has been taken and returned several times because he's evil but still actually wants to find a home... they are adopted together and quickly become inseparable...

maedhros can still be injured in this situation btw, maybe that's how he got in a shelter in the first place, maybe there was a hit-and-run situation and someone found him, maybe there was a very bad no good owner who abused him, that was how he lost his paw. MAYBE fingon works/volunteers at the shelter and wanted to check in on maedhros after he was finally adopted and discovered there was a very bad no good abusive situation and rescued him and decided that was it he was going to give maedhros a forever home... and before all that fingon was also the only handler maedhros didn't try to maim, that's probably why fingon was sort of responsible for maedhros in the first place...

they probably call him russo, that would be very fitting for a cat...

Hey guys, I need a favor from y'all.

I just came across one of those fake animal rescue channels on YouTube and I need people to report the channel with me so that it gets taken down.

I was going through shorts recommended to me, and one of the videos came up on my feed. I knew almost immediately upon seeing it that something wasn't right, so I checked out the channel, and unfortunately, it confirmed my suspicions.

It is absolutely FULL of videos of this person abusing monkeys, and they have several other animals too. Some of them are graphic and have depictions of dead monkeys. I need as many people as possible to go to the channel and mass flag it so we can get this shit taken down. If you're on mobile, you may have to open the link in a browser, go to the channel, and hit the 3 dots then report user.

Here's the channel. I wouldn't recommend watching the videos, because they're repulsive, but I would highly appreciate and encourage reblogging this post to spread awareness.

I know that they may just make another account or channel.

I'm aware of that, and I am aware that there is a bottomless pit of channels like this. But let's not be pessimistic, and let's get this one taken down.

Update

Hey guys I didnt mean to disappear the way I did this month, but especially in the more recent weeks. I've been in an UNBEARABLE amount of pain with migraines almost every day for over a week and I may very well have a sinus infection (': Like I WAS diagnosed with chronic sinusitis last year iirc but this is unbearable. My throat hurts, my teeth hurt, my face hurts, I can't breathe out my nose. I feel miserable tbh.

Another reason for absence and being so slow on work is because I came really close to calling the cops on my mother in the middle of a fight not too long ago. I'm certain it would've gotten physical if Popo hadn't walked through the front door when he did. Thankfully things DIDN'T get physical, but I'm still very shaken up about it. I'm in no danger, but I'm getting around to making an official post for my [GoFundMe] that's been successfully published now. That was the last straw I just cannot handle how my cats and I are treated. It's seriously affected my workflow for far too long.

Anyway I could really use some positivity and distraction. I missed this place and I missed you guys, home life has just been.. a lot. And I'm exhausted.
