Hey guys, I need a favor from y'all.
I just came across one of those fake animal rescue channels on YouTube and I need people to report the channel with me so that it gets taken down.
Tumblr media
I was going through shorts recommended to me, and one of the videos came up on my feed. I knew almost immediately upon seeing it that something wasn't right, so I checked out the channel, and unfortunately, it confirmed my suspicions.
It is absolutely FULL of videos of this person abusing monkeys, and they have several other animals too. Some of them are graphic and have depictions of dead monkeys. I need as many people as possible to go to the channel and mass flag it so we can get this shit taken down. If you're on mobile, you may have to open the link in a browser, go to the channel, and hit the 3 dots then report user.
Here's the channel. I wouldn't recommend watching the videos, because they're repulsive, but I would highly appreciate and encourage reblogging this post to spread awareness.
I know that they may just make another account or channel.
I'm aware of that, and I am aware that there is a bottomless pit of channels like this. But let's not be pessimistic, and let's get this one taken down.
Thank you. ❤️

Wait what’s wrong with Jay’s Prehistoric Pets? Is he not caring for his snakes right?
I'm so sorry to be the one to break this news, but Jay's Prehistoric Pets is pretty infamous for being one of the worst reptile content channels out there.
His content is very clickbait-y and often relies on playing up how "scary" snakes are; he goads his snakes into striking way too much for content. The animals featured on his channel (and related accounts like "the Reptile Zoo") are often obese and crammed into tiny enclosures. Egg-cutting is already a controversial topic, but everyone agrees that the way he does it (cutting the eggs open and actually pulling babies out) is wrong and inhumane. He frequently misreads reptile body language (here's an example rating for one of those videos). At the end of the day, he basically treats animals like fun collectibles instead of living creatures.
I'll give many reptile creators the benefit of the doubt, but Jay's Prehistoric Pets is one of the worst and I consider much of his content to be straight-up animal abuse.

i can not imagine being proud of a set up like this. and yet it is Depressingly common. You have three Incredibly expensive fish that also happen to be extraordinarily aggressive in a tank that's on the small side for one of them. with an additional aggressive predator that's half the size of them and so likely to get mauled. and at least one ray that will outgrow that tank quickly.
and then on top of it all you have no substrate layer, and thus no where for the microbiome to set up and keep the tank stable following water changes, no enrichment, no line of sight breaks nowhere for any one of your incredibly aggressive fish to hide from eachother.
This is a tank that only looks stable because all the fish inside it are too stressed to risk attacking each other. but the Moment one of them starts showing weakness from the cortisol poisoning happening here the others will turn on them and the tank will collapse.
these are animals. They're not just decorations. If you want that aesthetic ™ just spend the money this nightmare cost you on a resin mount.

Round 5 (main finals): Chara Dreemurr (Undertale) vs. Amane Momose (MILGRAM)
Tumblr media
Propaganda below the cut
Chara Dreemurr (?):
They were constantly blamed for killing all of monster kind in the no mercy route, despite players choosing to go that route. People ignored that they sacrificed themselves to attempt to free the monsters from the underground.
----
everyone wants to blame their own actions (genocide route) on chara, who is a literal child. i don’t know how to tell you this but you are the one playing the game. it’s about YOUR CHOICES. chara is there is punish you for that, you killed the only family that ever loved them! how could they not be upset at that! also if you don’t mind, here’s a good video essay on the subject
youtube
Amane Momose (12):
Amane was voted guilty in the first trial so that she would acknowledge her guilt. It backfired, and now she’s considered a threat. Well, everyone is a threat, but nobody’s threat level has been as heavily discussed and debated as hers. Consider the next prisoner in line, Mikoto. He’s objectively more dangerous and cannot be restrained. He beat up the guard in trial 1, and he was able to hold his own when the other guilty prisoners were attacked. But a good incentive to forgive him is so that he will calm down. You know what? That’s a good incentive to forgive Amane too! But she *can* be restrained, so a good portion of the discussion went into how she should be voted guilty so she *will* be restrained and not a threat. Since her vote was a near 50/50, of course a good chunk of the voters expressed dissatisfaction with her forgiven verdict. Some are already planning to vote her guilty for trial 3, calling her a “lost cause”. She hasn’t even done any concrete harm yet. Hold the pitchforks until she actually causes harm, please? And what if she *was* voted guilty in trial 2? We’ve been warned that she will continue to deny our judgement. A second guilty verdict won’t make her better either, and then what? She’d be called a “lost cause” as well. There is no winning with her.
----
Where do I even start? So first of all she’s an cult child who was physically and mentally abused and tortured by her parents and then (presumably) murdered her mother after her mother killed a cat that she took care of.
Now everyone in Milgram is a murderer but when Amane came and her MV showed her murder and circumstance in an admittedly highly fictionalized depiction of it the audience decided to…repeat the cycle of abuse!
She was voted guilty for the main reason of “teaching her” and helping her “realize that she was abused.” I would like to note that this tough love approach is something her parents utilized against her. “We are only doing this to help you.”
So the audience replicates Amane’s abusers and repeats the cycle of abuse and that’s pretty shitty but it isn’t exactly “Fuck Em Kids” level.
And then Trial 2 happened. Cause Amane is bitter and angry and horrifically traumatized so she acts aggressive and hostile. Especially towards another prisoner.
Now, again, everyone here is a fucking murderer (of atleast could be constructed as one) These people being able to Harm is a core concept of this series.
Yet for some reason it feels like people treat Amane as a “delusional creepy kid who wants to kill people” which completly takes away the nuance of her character. She does have the capacity to harm! Everyone here does! She’s not Uniquly Dangerous! She just has a Reason to be Dangerous. A Reason we GAVE HER by REPEATING THE CYCLE OF ABUSE.
In short: In a series full of Murderers I’m honestly a bit pissed that the 12 year old abuse victim is the one who’s treated like the guy from American Pyscho.
----
TL;DR: "We metavoted this abused, indoctrinated child guilty in trial 1, but it didn't work. Now she is a threat to three grown adults: one who is fully free and two whom she has been shown to get along with. Please metavote her guilty again so she will be restrained and unable to attack them, even though that means subjecting her to further psychological torture." Amane Momose is the youngest of ten murderers, prisoners of Milgram who are to be judged innocent (forgiven) or guilty (unforgiven). In the first interrogation (voice drama), she said that what she did was in line with her religion's doctrines. If we judged her the "wrong way", she said she will just deny the verdict. Combining the voice drama and music video, you could piece together that she was raised in a cult and abused, even though she is cheerful and downplays her pain. She never shows *who* she killed, only *why* she did. After the first day of her vote, she was 81% innocent, but this wouldn't last the whole three months. Many people voted her guilty so she would "see her sins", part of the practice commonly known as "metavoting". Her innocent percentage rapidly decreased, and she hit guilty in the last 15 days, finishing at 51% guilty. At the end of the first trial, Jackalope (who is something like a host) went over all the prisoners' verdicts and commented on the general reasoning. When he got to Amane, he *laughed* at the audience for voting that way to make her realize her sins. Trial 2 rolled around, and it was revealed that Amane's victim was her abuser. On day one, she was at 74% innocent. Seems like a cut-and-dry case now, right? Well... in the intermission, two of the prisoners (Fuuta and Mahiru) were badly beaten up and became reliant on the care of Shidou, a doctor. Amane became hostile to Shidou because what he was doing was against her beliefs. She visited all three of them on their birthdays to convince them to change their ways. She seems to be especially close to Fuuta, who is now murmuring about salvation. Guilty prisoners are psychologically tortured, forced to listen to voices that reject their beliefs. Fuuta and Mahiru both say that the mental strain is worse than their physical injuries. But Amane, who also looks worse for wear, was thrown under the bus because she isn't injured and is considered a physical threat to them (never mind that she gets along with them). She's considered a threat to Shidou, a grown man who is twice her size and fully free, while she is partially restricted by the long sleeves in her trial 2 uniform. She might indoctrinate Fuuta even though, in a prison of ten people and one guard, she's the only voice of her cult. Fortunately, she got a break. Her vote was falling at a similar rate to the first trial. But this time, it stabilized at 51% innocent, 12 days before the end of her vote. But there's no way this is over.

Caitlin Doughty (Ask a Mortician) does such important work with her youtube channel and her nonprofit Order of the Good Death, as well as the books she’s written (I’ve read them all).
She is also bringing awareness to how cruelly animals are treated in this video she just posted. Animals continue to perform for people to this day.
Please keep in mind it’s heartbreaking and hard to watch but I think it important.
Also, youtube is treating her and her channel like a pariah and she depends on her patrons.
YouTube has taken her videos down before.
youtube
Even if you don’t watch this particular video I think she’s doing such vital work and changing the way we confront death. So check her channel out!
And check out:

Happy Escapril! I hope everyone’s having a good day so far. I’m dropping my 3rd poem this month with @adventurerswritingguild third Escapril prompt combined with an AWG specific prompt from their lists! Day 3 is “Eye Contact” with “hand / god / knife.” I shocked myself once more with my writing. There was such emotion this nearly became a short story than just a poem. I channeled several songs and a Rick and Morty quote for inspiration.

For my work to cause such a viscerally deep reaction in a relatable or impactful way is my whole drive for creating. When I was younger, it was just to create things that mashed folks smile, like Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night did for me. Now, since I’m aware of many difficult and often traumatizing concepts that folks go through but it kept being swept under the rug or shunned for any reason—I want my work to provide the space for discussion of the uncomfortable.
“Art disturbs the comfortable, and comforts the disturbed.”
That’s my main goal with my work. A driving force to not only comfort but build for better in society.
This deviated from the point of this update as it’s now 9:15PM; but I’m happy to have vocalized it. Today was rather turbulent, so I wanted to get it out.

Please consider this: anyone who can shoot a 14 month old dog in the face, because they were too difficult to deal with - instead of re-homing them or surrendering the animal to a shelter - is not showing "toughness", or an "ability to make hard decisions". They are demonstrating that they believe the solution to even the slightest annoyance is to destroy that thing, rather than make even the slightest effort to be compassionate. Consider also that at 14 months old, this dog was a puppy, with all the normal excitable puppy behaviours. Anyone who can shoot a puppy for being a puppy can shoot anything, or anyone, if "provoked" enough. If you think you should excuse her behaviour because "it was just that one time" - it wasn't. She also confessed to killing other animals because they were simply annoying or inconvenient. She sees it as a declaration of "strength". It's the declaration of a psychopath.

the stories we can't really tell
There is this children's picture book that I haven't read, but the animated short film based on it is on youtube. It's called "Sinna mann" (lit. "angry man"), and was written as a didactic tool to use for children living in abusive homes, with a simple message: Don't keep it secret. Tell someone.
Unusually for the way the discourse on this topic tends to go: when a person of authority (the king, as it happens) steps in, the one who is offered help isn't the child, but the abusive adult. The violent dad has to leave the family so that he might learn how to fix himself, and he has to stay there until he can be a good man. The child lives in a safe home now that the abusive parent is gone, but this tale offers the much-too-rare insight of why its audience needs so much encouragement to open up about the abuse inflicted on them: Because they love the abuser, and they know that telling someone has the risk of losing them. Better to suffer the temporary hurt and live on the hope that this time was the last, than to never see them again.
That element is one that is lacking in a lot of popular stories involving parental abuse. Mathilda Wormwood lives a delightful revenge fantasy, but she is an outlier. Most children love their parents; if they're not loved back, they think the fault lies in themselves, that they aren't good enough. It might be incomprehensible to the outsider, who knows that the abusive parent is rotten, but that is the real tragedy in all domestic abuse. Punishing the abuser will hurt the victim, too.
The film has a hopeful message: With the help of other adults, the dad can learn how to no longer be angry, and it ends with the child visiting him in a safe place. The dad is healing. The child is healing, too, knowing that his mother is safe and his father is getting better. It's not a rosy happily ever after; the family seems unlikely to be back together (good for you, Mum), the dad hasn't magically become neither a sage nor a saint. But he no longer gets angry, and his focus is not on his own feelings, but of those of the child.
Another vital part of this, perhaps more important to the adult audience: The dad's violence is never directed at the child. But we see what the child sees: the agonising silence before the storm breaks, the fear for the mother, the genuine fear that she'll die. The child isn't hurt, except he is: haunted by terror, anxiety and shame. Having to witness abuse is also a form of abuse, and this film thoroughly makes clear why that is.
I don't know to what extent the film was ever shown to children; it's impressively gutting for being a work of cut-out animation with talking birds and the king making home visits.
youtube
Fun fact: the lady next door is voiced by the author of the book.

Hunting with hounds was banned in 2004, but people continue to hunt wild animals just for the thrill of it. There is still no respite for the foxes, deer, and other mammals chased and killed.
SOURCE: protectthewild.co.uk
In 2004 the passing of the Hunting Act made fox hunting illegal. Since then hunts have claimed to be following artificial scent trails rather than deliberately hunting wild mammals. This is nothing but a lie.
Trail hunting is a smokescreen used as a means to continue to illegally hunt wild foxes. Indeed, in November 2020 hunting official Mark Hankinson along with other senior hunters spoke of this ‘smokescreen’ during a Hunting Office webinar which was leaked to the public. You can read more about these now infamous webinars at the bottom of this page.
In 2022 Protect the Wild released the ‘A Trail of Lies’ animation to expose this smokescreen once and for all. Narrated by Chris Packham, the film documents key moments in the campaign to end fox hunting for good.
youtube
However, don’t just take our word for it.
In 2021/22 we supported the Hunt Investigation Team in two ground-breaking exposés in which both the Beaufort Hunt and VWH Hunt proved beyond any doubt that ‘trail hunting’ is nothing but a lie.
youtube
The footage secured from the investigation is the first time that a hunt has ever been caught on camera shooting their hounds, but this is not to say that the incident is a one off.
It is yet further proof of the ‘trail hunt’ lies. If hunts were genuinely following trails there would be no need for them to kill young hounds in this manner.
Please, please help stop this cruelty xx

i wanna share my opinion on brian barczyk rq cuz i have a few things to say lol
to preface, i wish him and his loved ones the best and i hope he recovers smoothly.
firstly, i think a lot of the things he portrays in his videos are extremely unproductive. i dont think its a good look to be associating with people like the paul brothers, or mr beast, or emulating their energy in any capacity when it comes to live animals. they arent props, they arent objects, yet it seems that Someone on his team thinks its a good idea to jump, scream, and shout when the snakes, that they work with DAILY, do anything snake-like. i dont think ANY person with reptiles should be doing anything like this, if any animal already has a stigma around it, it helps absolutely NOBODY to sensationalize them the way his staff do.
second, i originally wrote a little blurb in the preface about how i think hes done a net good for the reptile community, but honestly thats out the window. id heard murmurs in the past about Blatant animal abuse, but i didnt look into it for myself, until now. im gonna link a short video below going over a Very small amount of what hes done. needless to say, i am not a supporter or a fan. ive tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, ive been on the fence about my opinion on him and his content for a couple of years, and i really truly wish id looked into it earlier.
youtube
nothing will deplatform him and its not my intention to, but honestly it makes me wary of the creators that i AM a fan of that have shown support for him (beyond his fight against cancer). i dont think any of what hes doing or has done is helping the reptile industry/community, the second you knowingly let your animals suffer you are doing a disservice to everyone involved. its so deeply saddening to see someone get so far especially hen he has OPENLY mistreated his "beloved" animals, and it really REALLY doesnt help that he absolutely has the means to take proper care of his animals but chooses not to. IMO, the only good "pet-tubers" are the ones that share educational content, and there is no education to be found on his channel. his videos are just as bad as family vlogging in my eyes.
