I'm putting this next to when a fatphobe called me a "sour grape" and told me to "quit whining" because I *looks at notes* was upset that a different fatphobe had told me he wanted fat people to be wiped from the planet by literal genocide.

Their likes are nothing but thinspo, fat positive posts they apparently use as inspiration to starve, and other bigoted thinspo trash saying horrible shit about fat people.

The amount of cognitive dissonance to call a fat person an "active shooter" for being upset about their oppression when you literally follow their blog and obsessively look at their posts for the purpose of getting off to them being oppressed is just...I'm fucking speechless.

And yet bigots like this are protected by Tumblr because hate speech against fat people and such isn't against "community guidelines." The most I can hope for is Tumblr terminating their blog for thinspo. This is also yet another example of how thinspo assholes are not innocent and never have been. There is no mental illness in the world that caused that bigot to press follow on all of those blogs and say heinous shit to fat people as they use fat people's oppression as inspiration to throw up. All of that was a conscious decision made by that bigot multiple times, over and over and over again. Just like the thinspo bigots who tag "inspo" on posts of fat people talking about fatphobia and the thinspo scum who steal and repost selfies of fat people to mock with their friends and the thinspo assholes who post fat people to r/fatlogic and then make sure to tell said fat person about abusing them on a different website. None of that was caused by having an eating disorder. Each and every time a thinspo blog has done bigoted and abusive shit, it was an active choice they intentionally made.

Jimin has a song coming out this Friday. He's collaborating with an idol he admired in his youth, and he helped compose the song. It's kind of a big deal.

Now look, some folks are going to have legit reservations about supporting Taeyang considering past transgressions, and you should let them be true to their lived experience. Everyone has to answer to their own conscience here.

But some people are gonna be vile haters no matter what, and shit all over Jimin. You can expect a flood of posts attacking his lyrics, his voice, his looks, his sexuality, whatever.

Normally, I'd tell you to ignore it, block and report.

I'm not going to ask you to do JUST that, this time.

Instead, I'm going to ask you to start a new trend: co-opt their platform.

Use subversive kindness.

You see a post throwing major shade at Jimin? Don't fight. Don’t clap back. Don’t retweet to call them out. It just amplifies their message.

Take a page out of Jimin's book: be classy, but sassy.

Comment underneath hate posts is with Jimin-supporting hashtags.

Just take those haters’ swords aimed at our artist and beat them into ploughshares.

Deplatform the haters.

Take their free real estate and turn it into fertile ground to trend for Jimin.

2 it's not "derailing" to talk about experiencing the exact same type of oppression for the exact same reasons. like, this is tagged transandrophobia. y'know, the word coined to talk about oppression UNIQUE TO or MORE TYPICALLY EXPERIENCED by trans men and mascs? Like I know we're all super sensitive to "it's just transphobia" because bad faith actors use it to shut us up about our own oppression, but even if transandrophobia is ANY transphobia experienced by transmascs, this one is SO not unique and SO universal that calling other trans people "derailing" for daring to acknowledge they experience it is honestly transphobic itself

3. Are you being transmisogynistic or exorsexist it both? Do you find it offensive that a group even more erased than transmascs (trans people who are neither transfem nor transmasc) might "take the spotlight" by experiencing the same pain as you? Are you just mad that transfems suffer from hypervisibility (a key factor in transmisogyny, no less) that you're wrongly viewing as some sort of privilege?

Like this is the logical end conclusion of exclusion, separatism, and the idea that it's immoral or even just dickish to talk about SHARED experiences of oppression. Even those who aren't convinced that there's no overlap and oppression fits into neat little boxes based on your actual identity (and that people with multiple identities experience each oppression as discrete separate forms of violence OR a new unique form of oppression that no one else ever does) are like "I have the right to shut people out of a discussion of their own pain and trauma just because *I* experienced it for THIS reason

Like, I draw the line at someone saying anything more exclusionary than "oh I didn't name all groups that experience this because this was a more personal vent post, but please share your experiences because this isn't exclusive to us".

Idk I can't even articulate what's so gross and off-putting about this. But whatever, this intersex transneufemmasc is making their own post so they aren't (implied) transandrophobic by, idk, being transmasc but also other things and experiencing this same thing based on those other identities, or acknowledging that those other identities share these experiences in the absence of transmasculinity.

Also, nontransmasculine/non-trans-men experience transandrophobia, you fucking asshole. Transneutral, abinary/atrinary, neutrois, maverique, and other trans people that are seen as transmasc by bigots experience no material differences in the oppression they face. Their experiences are almost identical to yours - except they have to either be misgendered to be acknowledged or get erased. i've only been on tumblr for a few months and just discovered there's a thing called blacklisting.

i'm not trying to be controversial or negative but i'm pretty sure that i'm in your blacklist. i'm just guessing based on what i see or don't, but i've got a couple of questions, if you don't mind.

i realize it could be a hassle, but have you considered that especially for new accounts, the blackslisted account may not know that what they did so they will continue that behavior and pass it on to others? Not everyone is as savvy as you are. (if i'm right, i will never get the benefit of interacting with you and you will never get the benefit of interacting with me and i do have things to offer)

would you rather that i stop reblogging and liking your stuff? i don't have a big following, but i reblog because i thought that we have a responsibility to reblog and get posts seen (esp artists). currently i reblog you a lot because for the most part i agree and enjoy your posts.

Look, I block people for a small number of reasons.

they post content that is triggering to me

they actively harassed me in some shape or form (this includes me blocking people via hateful anon asks, which works but does not show you who they were)

they harassed someone i care about

they are very present in a tag I frequent and their content actively dampens my enjoyment of that topic and/or their content is not triggering but still upsetting enough to warrant a block simply to keep my experience here fun

they're openly being bigoted about something and show no signs of changing their opinion

they are or very much look like a bot

That's it. It is, in my opinion, a very reasonable list, and even if it weren't and I were to block people because their blog is blue, it still wouldn't matter because I get to curate my space.

Now, I have two observations to make.

a) You were able to send me this ask. Tumblr requires people to have an account to send anon asks.

b) You can see and interact with my content.

This means that I have not blocked the account you're using, otherwise you'd not even be able to find my blog, tumblr would send you straight to an error page.

So whatever has brought you to the conclusion that I blocked you, I did not, at least not the account you're currently using. Furthermore, I have honestly no clue who you might be, so even if I had blocked you, i wouldn't even know what to look for.

As long as you're not being an asshole on my posts, in general, or in my inbox then I don't care whether you interact with my stuff, you're free to do so if you want to, I'm not gonna sieve through my notes and check every single person's blog.

Actually makes me so upset looking up YouTube and Twitter in the Doctor Who and David Tennant tags and seeing so many transphobes and bigoted losers complain about the latest specials being "woke" over that small scene of Fourteen asking the Meep its pronouns and the metacrisis resolution between Donna and Rose.

It's actually so disheartening, seeing so many people missing the fucking point of Doctor Who, and these are also the same people who shat on Jodie's entire run bc BWAAAA, WAHMAN NO BE DOCTOR!!1!1! and lord knows what's gonna happen when Ncuti's run finally begins and what he'll have to endure with these bigoted losers with a huge ass victim complex. Doctor Who is a show that has been vocally anti-fascist since the beginning with episodes reflecting the UK recovering from the effects of WWII with the Daleks being a metaphor for Nazis, feminism, or hell, even episodes in the new run of Doctor Who way back when it started in 2005 talking about themes of slavery, government corruption, and even subtle LGBT+ themes with Jack Harkness being an openly flirtatious bisexual, Bill Potts being openly lesbian, and hell, even Martha being the first black companion in Doctor Who history (Bill being the second). Not to mention the Twelfth Doctor, who these "fans" claim they stopped watching the show after he regenerated but completely gloss over this fact, sucker punching a racist who was harassing Bill. Not to mention the Doctor as a whole character growing more love and empathy with every new regeneration and not being afraid to emotionally express themselves with love instead of having to hide it, something these "fans" fail to have or even see and understand. Reading all the hate in the pan-related tags is seriously getting me down and making me so sad for my fellow pan people, so let me say this to y'all:

Fuck what these assholes are saying. We are better than that, better than them for not sinking to that level, and better than the hurtful things they say and believe! We don't deserve this. We don't deserve to have our identities repeatedly and constantly scrutinized, torn apart, and tossed aside. We don't deserve to have people post hate in our positivity tags. We don't deserve to be harassed and ridiculed for having a different identity. We. Deserve. Better.

We deserve love, kindness, understanding, and acceptance. We deserve to be part of the overall queer community, to share it with those who call themselves "more palatable, more acceptable" queer people. WE ARE PART OF THE LGBTQ+! WE BELONG HERE, TOO!

It's not the fault of every single pan person if one of us doesn't understand what pan means and/or has been told the wrong definition of it. It doesn't automatically make that person or the rest of us inherently transphobic, enbyphobic, biphobic jerks. Misunderstandings happen, and people spread false information due to confusion or hate. But that doesn't mean we're all bigoted, and it doesn't mean we want to be pitted against bi people or any other mspecs. We simply want to coexist and be allowed to use the labels we feel fit us the most.

A little lesson for y'all... Bi and pan are not and never have been the same. Bi includes trans/nonbinary people, and it always has. Pan includes them, too, which it always has as well. One is not better than the other, but neither is the exact same as the other. Pan simply means "attraction to ALL genders, regardless of gender," while bi is "attraction to two OR MORE genders." Bi CAN include all genders, yes, but it doesn't have to if the person claiming the label doesn't want it to. But pan ALWAYS includes all genders. So yes, they are different, and no, saying that doesn't make anyone rude or hateful or biphobic or panphobic. And there's nothing wrong with pointing out differences (nor similarities) between each other.

Really, it breaks my heart to see so much in-fighting STILL going on after years and years of it. I know it can be frustrating on both sides, but we have to stop. We don't have to be friends, we don't even have to like each other, but we have got to stop throwing hate at each other. We're all part of this community, we all belong here, and we all deserve to feel safe here. No matter how you feel towards each other, please realize that while we're all different with different genders and orientations, we have much more in common than you think. We all face discrimination from cishets; we're all fighting for equal human rights; and we're all just trying to make our way, find ourselves, and exist in a world where many people hate us simply for who we are.

not the usual rant...

but I haven't been on twitter in a while, and all for the better really, I'm starting to accept. people will preach endlessly about how you can "curate" your experience, but I just do not think that is possible of twitter.

the practice of quote retweeting bigots/bigoted bait posts is way too common, even amongst people who genuinely have something intelligent to say in response and do not care for the engagement the qrt might bring them. I swear, it doesn't matter how many people I mute, block, or unfollow...there's always someone who's qrting some scummy shithead's terrible opinion. I really don't need to see you qrting a transphobe to know you do not stand with them... likewise, I think I can safely say that most people belonging to a marginalised and/or minority group would much rather you ignored those bigots' accounts entirely, and spent your time...oh idk...educating yourself, or directly supporting us and other peoples facing oppression.

then there's all the ignorant, and often wilful, misinterpreting of people's words...the complete lack of understanding some people have that, no, someone cannot fit an entire dissertation's worth of nuance into 200 or so characters of commentary. that, or someone will see a tweet of a partially expressed opinion and a (1/5) tacked on the end, and still only respond to that first tweet in the thread, completely ignoring the rest of the person's commentary because they were overcome with immeasurable lust at the mere opportunity to "dunk" on someone. not to get too personal, but I have a problem with understanding how sincere people are, and thus always feel as though I must make my own thoughts and intentions as clear as possible. and I feel as though being on twitter genuinely makes that problem worse for me. it's hard to tell if people are saying what they are because they care, because they want engagement, or because they are plainly an asshole.

and of course, seeing awful fandom related crap is also unavoidable because twitter has a terrible tagging system. the worst out of all the major social media sites, I'd argue. the algorithm hides posts with too many tags, so it's not necessarily possible for you to mute something upsetting or irritating, and avoid seeing those things. not that people would tag some of the things they post, anyway, because while a system to warn people of mature content exists, most users do not actually use that feature. this is a problem that obviously extends beyond just fandom, and that is where the real issue lies. regularly you will encounter videos of real life carnage, pornography, and the like, posted just...wherever! under a tweet announcing a celebrity's passing, under a piece of artwork, or through a qrt trying to "make a point." it's awful.

I hate the whole atmosphere of the site, there is so much of this...careless subjecting of others to cruelty, to violence, to bigotry...all for the sake of attention. people are so unbelievably rude to each other, because they've cultivated an echo chamber in which their negativity is being rewarded, and so they are driven to say just the nastiest things imaginable to total strangers. and this will be under the guise of "activism," or of "intellectual superiority," or simply because you tweeted something random about a character, or a musician, that you do not particularly care for. it's pure madness. I do not understand how people can willingly spend hours on that website.

Mlvns need to clear out their own house before they come after bylers. Sure, they can call us delusional, but our bad apples are very few and far between. Meanwhile EVERY SINGLE BYLER POST (at least on Twitter and insta) has at least a few homophobic comments. And the popular posts have DOZENS. An ASSLOAD of people who support their ship are bigots. And mlvns BLATANTLY ignore it in favor of going after bylers for the simple fact that they don’t ship mlvn. And the VERY SMALL AMOUNT of shitty bylers are a drop in the bucket compared to the shitty mlvns. AND what’s the worst thing bylers say? They think Mike is actually gay? Wow how offensive. They think El should focus on healing more before she has a serious relationship? Wow what assholes. And yeah it’s a really fair comparison (sarcasm) to those calling byler gross, pathetic, forcing gay stuff, predatory, weird, etc. I saw a mlvn tweet today that said Will should find someone else to hide a relationship with for the rest of his life (in addition to a shitload of awful comments on fanart or pro-byler posts). If people don’t understand how horrific a perspective like that is, I don’t even know what to tell them. But on top of that, not one post that had any of these comments were in any way negative toward El or mlvn. Not ONE. They were all fanart or byler posts with no tagging or mention of mlvn/El whatsoever.

And yet.

I don’t have receipts because the tweets were relatively quickly deleted, but mcr is on it because gerard way is an antisemitic dick. he was just ignorant in his defense of making captain america, a jewish character with golem qualities whose original purpose was to fight hitler, a nazi for fun. but when he was educated on why Jews were rightfully upset, he doubled down and called us all snowflakes, essentially, and said it was an attack on artistry. like those comedians who think comedy is untouchable by criticism just because people wanna laugh at racist and bigoted jokes. the response was overall antisemitic and I don’t fuck with that.

taika is on the list because he’s an arrogant asshole that uses rapist language and he’s overall just unlikeable as a person, and I don’t get along well with the kind of people who actually like him. the language was telling someone genuinely just critical (not a hater or even being disrespectful) that they “didn’t know what they wanted until he gave it to them”, and it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way for good reason.
