But now Cazador can use you to play his game. Chapter one.
You had never flirted around with the idea of death.
Well properly, There had been no adventuring in dark dungeons, fighting in wars or even a bar fight. You had sat pretty and read in the family library, books of mere fairy tales like the sleepy dragon under wyrm's crossing,the druid wolf that gobbled up the young girl in the red cloak and vampires.Only rumours around baldur's gate until the missing posters had started piling up over notice boards all over the lower city,They had become more of a awaiting nightmare and you recall how your father had recounted the days walking home from the Tavern had been safe and now only 100 years later stumbling home drunk on ale would result in a fate far worse than death. Families had never recovered, not properly, not ever. Fore missing posters would remain littered all over the city.
And now you could understand why, flickering embers, crumbling white bricks now stained with black soot. The white marble floor covered in ash and black wooden beams broken from the ceiling,You were orphaned, left all alone.You stepped over broken glass in your riding boots. You wail. Knees Buckling and buried in dirt of your parents grave and home,their ashes now belonging to the air. Never to be seen again.
There was no evidence of ill intent from what started the fire, maybe a maid had slipped with a glass of whiskey, perhaps the sun had shone so brightly that day, resulting in a letter going up in flames from its purchase just beneath the azure stained glass windows. Maybe your mother had been prancing around with a flaming arrow just outside the house and heroically gone to save her beloved. The flaming fist’s had marked the fire as an accident and the death of your parents as an unfortunate incident. No bodies to bury. And now no money, no vault key or vault pass to be retrieved from the home. The fire had been violent, tearing and eating everything in its path, it gobbled up hungrily and grew and grew. Feasting upon wallpaper, jewels ,books and your beloved fairy tales. It gorged itself on your room, stuffing its fiery belly with your gowns and then for dessert it had enough room for your parents.
So you find yourself in the cold comfort of Szarr Palace, and as clean as the oak floors are kept .The smell of blood and vermin had not tired itself from the dark red curtains that covered the large windows painted white, there was no light filtering through out the halls of Szarr Palace unlike what you had known. Your uncle had welcomed you in with open arms, his long nails scratching at your bare arms in cruel demise as he pulled you in for a short hug, your mother and him had been close he had told you, showing you the family portrait, your mothers warmth encompassing the canvas.
“How old are you, girl?” Cazador sneers down at you, his ruby eyes grazing across your untouched face.
“I've just turned Twenty, Uncle” You reply, gentle eyes burning into the dark red carpet.
“Nearly an adult and you're not betrothed? Your father hadn't promised you to anyone?”He interrogates. Your eyes glassy as you gaze up at the sneering man who dominates the space above you, his hands clasped behind his back as he leans over you.
You shake your head. His eyes inspecting your features they run over the expanse of your cheeks and your hair, his pale hands grapes at your chin, your eyes widening as he pushes your head up at him to get a better look. “Yes you'll do well, pity you're so plain and meek” he scoffs in disdain, sharp nails catching at you neck as he lets his grip on you go, his hand flicks to the side of him.
“Take her to the west wing and prepare the bath, let's let our new dweller get settled in” he smiles at you, but his eyes do not smile back.
You notice a bead of blood trail from the nick he had left in the gold framed mirror moments later. Dalyria stifles at the door of the bathroom, nose flared and eyes wide. You wipe the blood with your handkerchief. As you wrestle with your corset.
“Im so sorry do you mind” you turn to her and she approaches wearily as you smile.
“Of course my lady.”
“Oh you don't have to call me that, please” you blush as your corset falls to the floor in front of you clanging on the marble floor.
“I'll take your handkerchief miss, get it clean for you” she smiles sweetly and you nod as you undress alone and retreat into your bath, you hear the door close behind her and your eyes flicker to the ceiling, wet fingers gripping on the ledge of the ceramic bath ,you pull yourself under the hot water and scream.
Dusk falls and you have found yourself wandering down the expanse halls at night with a candelabra to stare at the only image of your mother you had left,the door opens quietly and you hear hushed whispers and a pad of footprints lead up to the stairs, there's a giggle from someone. You pull yourself back into the curtains that hang from the door frame, eyes squinting in the dark as a white haired man tumbles up the stairs quietly, hand hand gripping another he turns and suddenly his face goes placid. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Was there another guest staying at Szarr? And then there's a horrible crashing noise and a large thump. You spot the white haired man dragging an unsightly body, neck bent backwards , you blow your candle out quickly as you feel eyes upon you. You look and spot his gaze but he continues on as if he had never seen you,he carries the body further down the hallway and you stumble back to your room in horror you don't sleep that night mind plagued with the fear he will come back to catch you.
You had never flirted around with death, but it had grabbed your shoulder so tightly and promised it would be back one date to greet you as an old friend, you hoped it would return soon and collect its debt.

Luke and Ash living together at Ash’s house during quarantine lockdown and got more serious than ever before.
Amazon Music and Spilling The Quarrantea livestreams, plus other things.
1. The food situation. Discourse back and forth between Luke and Ash of being out of food, during both livestreams.
Both talking about being out of groceries and kept bringing up fish fingers and chicken fingers/nuggets. Pretended to both go get groceries when Michael said the grocery store (Ralph's) just restocked. Ash is the first to get up and leave, fast. Luke only starts to get up to leave.
It seems like perhaps Ash is the one that does the grocery shopping. Ash is the one who says he's going to the store when he can. Luke doesn't offer that idea up. Luke seems like he was sulking because he didn't have the foods he likes. Notice how his demeanor is when they're talking about not having food, in the Quarrantea livestream. Luke even tries to make a point by asking everyone what they're having for dinner, Ash reiterates his fish fingers situation, Michael gives an answer that he hasn't even given it a thought.
2. Amazon Music livestream, Pink Floyd, Lashton listening to Pink Floyd together. Public mentions by both.
a. August 13, 2021 Pink Floyd was one of the influences for Luke’s solo album. Luke brings them up when talking about his song ‘Beautiful Dream’ (Nylon mag interview )
b. Ash worn lots of PF band tees throughout the years (incl. recent pap pics of him walking with Cal via his own twitter May 1, 2019).
c. Ash tweet using “Welcome to the Machine” businessman on fire artwork March 20, 2020.

5. Spilling the Quarrantea - The room Luke is in has very similar style to the room Ash is in (possibly in the same house, noteworthy)
6. Ash promo pic of Superbloom includes similar wallpaper than the wallpaper in Luke’s studio room. (same house? wallpaper shopping together?)
7. I’m suspicious that Luke’s WFTTWTAF ig live was at Ash’s house

9. Luke and Ash each wear the black onyx rings for Twitch stream ranking 5SOS songs (Aug 19, 2021), (Lierra engagement announced June 8, 2021 via People), so he’s engaged yet wearing a matching ring with someone else…. Ok
10. Muke isn’t real, Michael reads wattpad fanfic in front of a huge livestream of fans. A partner wouldn’t do that. Ash swooped in to save the situation by making up his own funny one about Cal.
11. Ash took the trip to the desert to go create his solo album, meanwhile Luke creates his own album back in LA. They gave each other a bit of space in their creative processes to write. Pick someone supportive.
12. Ash writes songs about lies, pain, and he’s so tortured, yet publicly he is supposedly in a happy relationship (which is whats being pushed on social media). Ash’s relationship ends lowkey sometime before his birthday but after release of album. Releases his album independently. Then, right before Luke’s album is released on a record label under Sony, there’s an engagement with the gf who is also a songwriter on his album which is being promoted in his album interviews.
13. Luke writing songs about Camellia Street and a change of heart. The narrative is it's where Sierra’s apartment was when they met, but what’s not being said is there’s actually a Camellia Street in Western Sydney where the guys are from. If he were to say that and Sierra hasn’t lived in Aus, then it leaves it open for question (who is Luke having ‘a change of heart’ with?).
14. Luke writing lyrics “Now with my eyes wide open, I’m nothing but a fake”, “I’m on my way to Wonderland, take off my suit and wander in for a moment Or hide for a lifetime”
15. Ash writes songs about lying and living in a cage (“Perfect Lie”) and lyrics such as, “I’ve been living my life but it’s not how it looks” and “Playin’ but not on the team” (“Sunshine”).

Cal remarks about Luke’s background, Ash makes a joke “that's not blurred that the clouds bro, Luke lives up in the hills.” Cal: “He doesn’t like those jokes.” Ash: “I love it! He hates them!” *continues laughing* (this reminds me of when Ash brought up the nickname “breadstick”/a>)
Ash helps Luke with figuring out how to get the chat. “You need to get it fullscreen Luke.” (Helping one another)
Luke “Ashton, where do you buy your glasses? The toilet store” Ash “No no no, Don’t encourage him! 2002 Simpsons humor!” Luke laughing (Luke dishing it back at Ash)

Ash “Heartbreak Grill” Luke “Heartbake girl” Burgers versus cookies. Ash starts to fight him on it but then lets it go.
Luke is stone faced and quiet when Ash starts talking about his ‘long lost love bodybuilder gf in high school’.
Ash’s dinner last night was 8 chicken nugs and a bag of popcorn. (In an interview, Ash said of the whole band, he’s the best cook and Luke is the worst, Ash poked fun at Luke microwaves eggs, perhaps Luke doesn’t cook much at all at home so Ash fends for himself often. Also, if Ash supposedly has a gf why didn’t she help figure out food?)
Ash: “Here's a good comment. Luke speak, I want to hear your voice” (Very smooth Ash. Ash has spoken a lot in interviews about how much he loves Luke’s voice. A couple of examples: backstage 2018 ARIAS Seconds of Summer: Backstage at ARIAs 2018 (5SOS Uncut), promo interview for Superbloom )
Ash: “Do you mind if I go upstairs and make a sandwich and be back in 20 mins?” Luke: “a chicken nuggets sandwich?” (the ongoing references to chicken nuggets/fish fingers, they are sharing a freezer/fridge)
Ash chooses a comment asking to sing Pink Floyd, Ash impromptu singing “Wish You Were Here”. “Uh! I’ve got that one!” * Luke immediately picks the guitar back up and starts playing a couple chords with a grin on his face*
(44:00) Luke has heart eyes and touches his eye with his hand, when Ash ends the story he wrote to redirect attention of livestream from the super uncomfortable wattpad Luke romance fanfic that Michael reads.
(48:50) Ash reads a “worst” comment to sing Lady Gaga but yet starts singing “Perfect Illusion”.
(about 50:00) Randomly Ash says “You’re telling me, you’ve seen a million faces and you’ve rocked them all?” *Luke laughs* A lyric of one of Luke’s longtime favorite bands Bon Jovi. Again, Luke picks up guitar then plays a few notes of “Dead or Alive”.
(about 52:00) Ash reads a comment to listen to “Toxic” by Britney Spears. Ash then dances to it. Luke with huge grin on his face, bopping his head.
(about 57:30) Ash reads a comment for Luke to sing SLSP. Luke picks up guitar and starts playing. Ash “that rocked, that rocked my world”
(about 1:00:00) Fun fact: Empty Wallets was the first single they wanted to release off of Youngblood. (Lashton song, but that’s for a different day.)
(about 1:00:00) Ash “Here’s one. ‘Luke sing “Single Ladies” by Beyonce.’ I want to see that.” starts singing “put your hands up”
(about 1:02:00) Luke compliments Ash doing low screams, then says he can do the low screams and Luke can do the high screams.
(about 1:04:00) Ash “I like this comment. ‘This is what real men vibe to.’ Damn right. That’s… thats true” *smiles* Luke: “Damn straight”

Luke and Ash both say that they are low on food, then when Michael says Ralph’s just restocked they both pretend to go together. Ash keeps repeating he only had fish fingers to eat, and Luke saying deflatedly that he has nothing left. When they get back into frame, Luke picks a quarrel by saying he bought all of the fish fingers so he can’t have any. Ash “I’m already down to my last groceries” Luke “Yeah I’ve got nothing left.” It’s brought up again later on. Ash “I just ate my last bag of fish fingers” Luke “yeah I’ve got no, I’ve got no food. I just ate my last chicken fingers.”” Luke brings up “what are you guys having for dinner?” Ash “I ate my fish fingers until I brave the outside world.” *Luke’s small awkward laugh*
Ash: “How was Ralph’s?” Luke: “Ralph’s was good. I bought all the fish fingers and there’s none left for you”
Luke and Ash being in sync so much they both turn to the side and lean down at the same time, at the end.
Ash makes a joke about Petunia being Luke’s roommate. Notice how much Luke and Ash are making jokes and ganging up on Cal and/or Michael.
Right at the beginning, Ash starts pretty much serenading Luke by playing the guitar and singing “Hey Carissa” to him.
Luke starts singing “Come come with a kick drum and a gary” and Ash is the only one that immediately starts clapping along.
Cal asks what they’ve been up to, that he hasn't seen them for two weeks, and Luke jokes about finishing the 5th album. Luke and Ash: “Gotta hit’em with a two hit wonder”, they both start shadowboxing.
Luke and Ash gang up on Cal about his outfit being a surf culture company. (Mind you, they themselves have been spotted before wearing the same company). Luke and Ash are losing their shit laughing.
Ash says “this is gotta be x rated, x rated, parental guidance rating for that fringe” when Luke’s bangs are in front of his headphones. Luke and Ash smirk and laugh.
Luke: I was trying to get the lighting right, does it look better or worse?” Ash “guess so, guess so” Luke: “It's hard to get lighting right” *Ash laughing* Ash “So hard” more laughing while Luke then pouts. (Luke has a pattern, since they’ve known each other, of pouting and fake crying to Ash, if he wants to get his way or feels like he’s let him down.)
Luke is asked “What have you been up to?” Luke: “I’ve been growing this beard, dyed my hair for a music video that didn’t happen” Ash flamboyantly says “you look amaaaaazing”.
Luke does a move with his hands thinking it was a move for the music video for “Lost Boy”. Luke: “That's that video we did this thing.” Ash: *agrees softly to him* (a music video doesn’t exist for “Lost Boy”.)
Ash remembers Luke’s mom's tuna bake “that shit was good”. Luke jokes: “sounds like you're gonna make a your momma joke” Ash: “it was good” (a memory involving Luke’s mom is something that Ash recalls from their time in London, of which all the guys were just saying they don’t remember anything from then.)
Luke and Ash having their own conversation about Ash shaving his head for the album promo. Which then leads to joking about host mode. Luke bullies Ash about asking Michael about his least favorite song on the first album, Ash fondly laughs.
Ash tries again to get Luke to go into host mode, but then Luke tries to put it onto Michael to host.
At about the 26:00 mark, Luke and Ash are mirroring each other's head tilts.
“The Girl Who Cried Wolf” Luke and Ash copy each other’s “it's just lies!”
Ash “When do you think we’ll be able to see each other again.” Luke gets quiet with a serious look on his face and puts hand in front of his mouth.
(35:00) Ash and Luke mirroring touching the forehead.
Luke bursts out laughing when Ash puts the Ikea site on screen. (Luke finds Ash hilarious for everything istg, it's adorable don't get me wrong)
After the Ikea site, the first google search Ash does is “luke hemmings worst moments” then “luke hemmings net worth”. (Luke is first in Ash’s mind)
Ash mimicking Petunia’s zoned out face.
Ash “wow your roommate’s so hot, whats her name? Patrice?”, when Luke turns around to see Petunia, Ash does the same exact maneuver. Mirroring.
Luke does the “I love you” hand sign, and Ash says “I love you man”.

HAPPY B-DAY @cortanas-wielder
(Sending this at 0:10 here because I can't sleep. It's technically already your birthday so-)
Yesterday I randomly asked you your fav PJo characters and stuff ._. it was to make you a present! Like a wallpaper or something you could use.
At the end I realized I didn't know how to make one, so I'm gonna give you a story! :) I had to translate it from Spanish, so idk how it turned out :') I hope you like it!!
(this is a story I made not so long ago ._. I wished I could've wrote one specially for you but I've had NO TIME. Lots of exams :'D)

I feel the burning air whipping my cheeks, as I watch the flames, tall and straight as pine trees, engulf the building.
I feel how two tears slowly slide down my cheek, cold in comparison to the heat emanating from the fire and hitting my body.
Not 6 hours ago I was inside this building, not 6 hours ago since it was a proud little fire station.
I had just finished my service, and as I was taking off my heavy firefighter's uniform, which I kept in my locker, I was called by my boss.
"Sofia, we need to talk," she said in the monotone voice she reserved for his employees, cold and without any compassion. As soon as those words left her lips, my heart froze.
I followed her with a heavy heart to the door of her office, where, once seated in one of the uncomfortable and worn chairs in front of her desk, she dropped the news.
"Sofia" I hated the way she said it, always getting stuck on the 'f', as if my name was the devil's own name that made her precious holly mouth choke "you're fired."
"What?!" I said, getting up from my chair and placing both hands firmly on the desk. I watched as a hint of a smile danced in her gray eyes, while her mouth remained a thin straight line.
"Fired. Pack your things and I want you out now."
"B-but- " I stammered "why?" I noticed the distressed tone in my voice.
"You are not longer needed in this company" she said calmly, looking at me with superiority, analyzing my reactions with her viper eyes "besides, your behavior is.... well, you're a very smart girl, I'm sure you understand me " She emphasized 'smart'.
"No no nonono" I said in anguish "you can't ... you can't do this to me! This job is everything to me, and you know it" I hated myself at that moment for begging, humiliating myself in front of my boss, that .... that being that I hated "Surely there is something- something we can ...you can't do this to me!"
"Yes, I can" I noticed the amused tone in her voice. She had always wanted to fire me, and had finally found the opportunity to do so. "And watch me do it. You're. Fired."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I furiously turned my back on her. With my head held high, I walked out of her office. Once outside, I ran and ran, and when I got home I threw myself on my bed. That's when I allowed myself to let my tears flow.
I shouldn't have been fired.
Six hours later I received a call from a colleague.
The office had gone up in flames.
How ironic. The fire station is on fire. I ran there, where I am now, staring helplessly into the flames, already as high as the surrounding buildings.
What had started with two tears is now a river of them flowing from my eyes. I close them and take a deep breath. It smells of smoke and ashes.
I absentmindedly reach into my pocket as I continue to stare at the flames, and feel a small cardboard box, filled with small wooden sticks. A box of matches
Yes.
I definitely shouldn't have been fired.

WIP Wednesday/WIP Weekend
I was tagged by @carry-the-sky and @chrissy-n-eddie for WIP Wednesday, except it's Friday so this is more of a WIP Weekend.

*Fortune Teller Prompt – left over from Halloween. I've had an idea of a new direction and am now actually very excited to finish writing it!
*Chrissy Gets Injured At Cheer Practice Prompt – this was from @hellcheer-prompts & I think it has potential as a little meet-cute fic, I'm just trying to think of a way to jazz it up a bit, plot-wise
*Two Established Relationship Chrissy POV Porny One-shots – in which our heroine makes some ahem discoveries about herself. One of them features Eddie the B(ashful) and the other Eddie the B(DSM enthusiast)
Snippet from the vampire fic – I'll post more snippets from the other WIPs if requested:
Sometimes, as she lay alone in her bed, Chrissy Cunningham dreamed a strange dream. As if separated from her body, she would watch herself slip out from underneath the heavy floral quilt and open the bay window that overlooked the front yard.
The grass there – what had once been her mother’s prized lawn – looked the same as it did in real life; shrivelled and brown, deadened by a searingly hot summer that had melted away overnight in early September, gone as quickly as it had arrived.
Impervious to the autumn chill, nor the precariousness of the slanted roof, dream-Chrissy climbed down the porch awning. In a trance, she walked barefoot, moving inexorably toward an unseen destination – an invisible force beckoning her onwards.
The moon was always full in the dream, its silvery light casting an otherworldly glow across her skin, turning her summer tan winter-pale, like a ghostly twin. The image was exacerbated by Chrissy’s pyjamas – a floaty, ruffled nightdress whose thin straps and short hemline left her arms and legs completely exposed to the elements.
As she reached the road in front of her house, she would blink and the scene would shift; now, her dream form was in the Hawkins woods, the trees standing bare like skeletons.
There was no sound, and yet it felt as though someone was calling her. A voice she’d heard before, surely? One that caused her pulse to quicken.
Another blink, and she would see herself in a clearing, the moon high and bright above, illuminating a dark figure on the other side. At first, it was too far away to make out, and it seemed to turn and regard her for only a moment before melting into the shadows of the naked trees.
After it disappeared, she’d find herself blinking awake to familiar pink wallpaper, weak beams of sunlight streaking through the gauzy curtains and an odd feeling prickling across her skin. Anticipation?

a quite BBIGG project................. i got these “ living pods “ from an aquarium shop a year ago, hoping to do something with -- as is ever the case -- , now i have acquired - more than enough - games workshops ash wastes. these pods are ideal for any desert dwelling aliens, orriginally they were intended for some star wars sand people, ( i had yurts too ! )or my british colonisation of mars. . the hex gaming grid is from Kallistras Hexon11 range, just a glued and sifted builders sand covering , i prefer to use a hex grid , for gaming, it cuts out measuring time and clutter. the small hexed table top is wallpaper from a d.i.y. store ( B&Q ) pasted onto old wardrobe doors.. i ve posted earlier stuff on that................................i will be getting first deliveries next week , so will start assembly and vehicle modifications., i also found ( in my “ cupboard of things that are nice but cant use yet “ ) . some usable monsters from the gene stealer and corsair dark eldar ranges , so please look out,...... the dark eldar reaver skiffs are realey appealing, as too are some jackal bikes.

top 10 gayest h2o episodes: a definitive ranking
i'm back with another ranking, but this time it's a little different! today, i'll be ranking the top 10 gayest episodes of h2o: just add water. (in MY opinion. i realize that this show has no canonically LGBT+ characters, but come on, the subtext. also, i write sapphic h2o fanfiction, what did you expect?) anyway, please don't take this too seriously, it's just for fun.

honorable mention: 1x05 "something fishy"
i'm just going to link this post and let it speak for itself.
10. 1x26 "a twist in the tail"
the episode where the girls are "outed" (the official h2o jaw youtube channel uses this term, no joke) to dr. denman, zane, his father, and nearly the world. thankfully they're able to avert exposure with advice from their gay mermaid mentor/queer elder, miss chatham. however, they begrudgingly have to give up their tails (temporarily, though they don't know this). even with the challenges that being gay a mermaid poses, they've still come to love what they are.
9. 2x11 "in over our heads"
rikki almost dies trying to retrieve a deep-sea treasure and emma cradles rikki's head in her arms while trying to save her. so... yeah. emma also shows hostility towards rikki's boyfriend, zane... and i get that he was a mermaid hunter last season, but this also reads like emma is jealous of his relationship with rikki. but on the flipside, zikki is kind of like a het relationship for gay people. idk. there's a lot going on here.
8. 3x21 "the jewel thief"
rikki and bella's moon crystal necklaces gravitate towards each other and cause a city-wide electrical blackout. this is gay, please don't make me explain. oh, cleo also gets a matching crystal necklace in this episode and the girls all wear them to symbolize their "friendship" (or are they just in a throuple? nobody knows).
7. 1x18 "bad moon rising"
mainly put this episode here because of emma's iconic line to rikki: "if we're going somewhere we're going together" and then their smoldering gazes that follow. but, generally, the subtext is off-the-wall. when rikki loses control of her powers, she thinks she's a danger to society and tries to isolate herself—just like how gay people have been told for thousands of years that we're destructive to society. this one is kinda sad actually :(
6. 1x07 "moon spell"
not only are we introduced to camp gay miss chatham, but there's something really queercoded about embarrassing your family at a party (as emma does in this episode). she also calls rikki "rikki baby" and now i'm realizing that this ranking is pretty much a love letter to rikma.
5. 2x04 "fire and ice"
sometimes i think the writers just forgot who rikki's canon love interest was at the time?? half of these season 2 episodes frame rikki and emma as girlfriends. anyway, emma's desire to be rebellious and wild reads like a baby gay trying to be something they're not after coming out. in the b plot, nate tells lewis he's not "manly" enough and the latter struggles with this. maybe it was unintentional, but some lines make it seem like the show is queercoding lewis. i'm here for it, either way.
4. 2x17 "moonstruck"
a moonstruck rikki and cleo try to expose emma as a mermaid to ash, but without context, you'd think they're trying to tell him that emma's a lesbian and that's why she's been so secretive and distant with him. another mermaid=gay allegory? no one knows for sure, but sources (me) say yes!
3. 2x06 "pressure cooker"
ah, yes... another episode where the writers forgot that rikki and emma weren't dating, included multiple scenes of them on an actual date, and hoped we wouldn't notice. plus, we see that rikki is emma's phone wallpaper. cleo and charlotte also could've had an enemies-to-lovers moment here, but what do i know?
2. 1x01 "metamorphosis"
three teenage girls discover something life-altering about themselves and must stay closeted keep the secret from the rest of society. in the process, they become much closer to one another but also feel isolated from their families and other girls their age. are we reeeally certain that this isn't an allegory? sure, a lot of this applies to the rest of the show, but "metamorphosis" is the episode that started it all, so...
1. 2x18 "the heat is on"
this episode is actually the reason i made this ranking. not only does rikma's homoerotic feud cause a thunderstorm, but they (+ cleo) ditch their boyfriends at the juicenet to celebrate their "anniversary" of becoming mermaids. okay, straighties! bonus points for zane and ash's UST during that game of pool.

it doesn't surprise me that this list consists mostly of season 2 episodes, because rikma was probably at its peak (imo) in the first half of season 2. it also doesn't surprise me that only a single season 3 episode is here. i'm not sure why that is—maybe it's emma's absence, maybe it's the way the tone of the show shifted considerably from the end of season 2 to the beginning of season 3. anyway, hope you enjoyed this :-)

my current pet project oc is just a local chaotic neutral trans gay deeply traumatised bastard man, but the interesting part is that he clearly cares a lot about the people he loves but will throw everyone under the bus if you piss him off. it’s fun to work with, because at the end of the day he will put himself first if pissed off enough, and even if after some character development he’ll put others first for longer he will continue to put himself first if he snaps
#well to be honest if id:#a) had a whole lot of trauma from murdering a lot of people between the ages of twelve and fourteen#b) been running from the people and history that put me into that situation for three years#c) had new trauma wallpapered over the old after pursuing a passion of mine professionally and had that temporarily go wrong due to injury#and been hurt while trying to deal with that injury both physically and emotionally#d) been forced into a killing game against my will by my hellhole of a city#e) had said killing game triggering my ptsd and forcing me into a catatonic state for a solid two hours at one point#f) ran away from my old city to a new one and having to uproot my entire life in order to do so#g) befriended another group of messed-up people like me and had one of them get into trouble she/they needed help with#and had that backfire into a life or death situation where one of the people involved stated that i was still a murderous member#of that fucking group that started this whole mess of murder and trauma#i would throw everyone else in that group under the bus to get back at that person too#ash writes

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

he's a lawful neutral. he is used to operating within systems of rules and he'll do whatever he can within the boundaries he is given to keep his loved ones safe, no matter how ruthless it forces him to be. in the years after his death, eiji realizes that actually, he's never going to be fully okay with shorter handing him over without so much as a word of warning to the others, even if it was for nadia's sake. in shorter's mind, though, he did what he had to.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
actually this Is realistic: he's aro and bisexual as fuck and he fucks to survive, then happily regales all of his friends with the tales of his misadventures. one of these misadventures is why ash gets free dumplings from chang dai for life, but no matter how many times nadia asks what exactly shorter did to get so deeply in ash's debt, ash simply says he's sworn to secrecy for shorter's dignity.
(ash rescued him after he got his dick stuck in a freezer, is what he did. shorter cried.)
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
there's a spot of green hair dye that stained the wallpaper in the bathroom from the first time he dyed his hair. nadia tries to hide it behind a photo frame so she can just brush her teeth without crying every morning, but it doesn't work; she just stares at the photo and feels like she's trying to smother his memory.

tbh i don't have that many complaints about canon shorter but i Will say i wish we got to actually see his friendship with lao. in fact i hc them amicable exes; they broke up bc shorter realized he was aromantic, but lao never fully got over him before he died. it's part of why he was so fucked up about it.

Kingslayer AU: Chapter 12
I am so sorry for the radio silence! That shouldn’t happen anymore (key word: shouldn’t)
Not much in this chapter but it needs to happen so :b
Dying torchlight, the smell of blood, and ash permeated the linen closet Scott had been locked in.
A chest was pushed up against the door, but he didn’t care about getting out. He pressed his temple further into the old wallpaper of the abandoned cellar that Dogwarts has been built on. It’s faded floral pattern was stained with blood and tears where he’d curled up against the wall.
He had been stripped of his armor and tools. Even his pager was taken from his belt. Ripped jeans and an old T-shirt, clothes he didn’t mind getting ruined in battle, and his bloody bandages were all he was left with.
Scott sunk his eyes to his knees and squeezed them shut as he held down a sob. Too many images played behind his eyelids underneath the swimming colors. The wound across his forehead had coagulated now and matted his bangs to his skin.
His left arm hung limp at his side. A nasty bruise had appeared down his shoulder, along with a sore bump, and he couldn’t move it.
A feeling of disgust grew in his chest as he contemplated what had happened again. Staring at the wall, he wondered if he deserved this. To be locked in a room and kept away from the world, so he wouldn’t hurt anyone.
Shuffling outside the door brought Scott out of his daze. Dim light came under the door as the chest was pushed away, and the doorknob made a metallic click when it was gently pulled open. Someone peeked inside, barely holding the entrance open.
The light contrast between the rooms made it hard to see who it was.
Then they quickly slipped inside. Shutting the door as fast as they opened it. It was Tango.
He was almost too tall to fit comfortably in the closet, so he knelt down instead.
“I told them I wanted to talk to you, they finally let me in here,” Tango said softly. He didn’t look angry, but Scott still flinched when he put a hand on his knee.
Scott shook in place, words were caught in his throat.
Ringing silence filled the air as he stared at his shoes.
“Are you okay?” Tango asked, and it surprised Scott.
He looked up quickly, “Me?” he questioned softly. Unsure if he heard the other correctly.
“Yeah, that was a nasty tumble,” Tango clarified. He gestured sympathetically to Scott’s shoulder, “pretty sure it’s broken,” he observed out loud.
Scott grimaced, “I’m pretty sure my ass is broken,” he said humorlessly.
Tango hummed, “I wouldn’t rule it out,” he motioned for Scott to sit against the same wall as him.
The other winced and shifted himself to his knees, then slid heavily to Tango’s side. Knees to their chests in the small space. Tango took Scott’s right hand, from the arm that wasn’t broken, and gave it a meaningful squeeze.
“Where’s Impulse?” Scott asked. He hadn’t seen him since Bdubs body slammed him during the battle.
“He’s been around. Anywhere but here; I went back to the cow farm hours after they brought you here and he was still there,” Tango explained.
Tango had told Impulse that his absence was suspicious, but Impulse didn’t care about what Dogwarts thought of him at the moment.
“I think he feels responsible for what happened, some way, he blames himself for you,” he sighed.
“It’s not true,” Scott shook his head.
“To him, yes, it is. He tried so hard to bring you around, I think he felt like it was going so well,” Tango replied, “it killed him inside to see this happen while he wasn’t there to help you.”
“He’s done so much for me already. This is my cross to bear not his,” Scott argued.
“I did this. I failed him. I failed everyone,” he said.
Tango leaned forwards and brought the other into a hug, carefully avoiding his broken shoulder.
Scott leaned on Tango’s shoulder, apprehension and shame kept his good arm from returning the embrace.
“Whatever happens tomorrow, I’m going to make sure you don’t get hurt,” Tango said.
Scott did not reply. He caught himself before he could say he deserved whatever was coming to him. There was no point in self loathing.
“Do you think they’ll actually give me a trial?” He asked instead.
“No,” Tango said. His face conveyed that he may have wanted to say more, but he decided against it.
“That’s reassuring,” Scott mumbled.
Tango held his gaze with an unreadable expression. The corners of his mouth were turned down, and his eyebrows were slightly worried.
Scott pulled away slowly and looked down.
“You should probably go before they get suspicious. Thanks for visiting me,” he said with no conviction.
“I’ll spend the night if you want… I feel weird just leaving you alone in here,” Tango replied.
Scott shook his head, he pushed himself away and back into the wall.
“No. You still have a bed in this place, you should make use of it,” he said.
