Bear Cave, Aulanko, Hämeenlinna. There's 322 steps from the tower to the cave. Downwards goes fine but up again... let's just say it feels a lot more on a hot summer day. 😄

Nyland Yacht Club (off. Nyländska Jaktklubben) in South Harbour right next to the city centre of Helsinki.

Linnanmäki Amusement Park. The wooden roller coaster was built in 1950 and it's one of seven remaining roller coasters in the world still being operated by brakemaster who stands at the back of the train. Usually there are two or three trains simultaneously on track. It's a really fun ride! 😊

1944 06 15 Karelia offensive, StuG III  - Kari Vertanen

In mid-June 1944, Finland and the Soviet Union fought the battle of Kuuterselkä. The battle was part of Karelian offensive during the Continuation War. The battle was fought 75 years ago this week. As it is the anniversary of the battle, I share my painting from a few years ago.Finland had acquired German Sturmgeschutz 40 Assault guns in 1943. These Assault guns had a significant role in the battles of Karelian offensive.In my painting, Stu-40 assault gun number 6 takes part in the battle of Kuuterselkä. During the fighting from Kuuterselkä to Tali-Ihantala, this assault gun scored 9 wins over enemy tanks. In the battle of Kuuterselkä, this assault gun was commanded by lieutenant Olli Aulanko while sergeant Olavi Taponen acted as a gunner, private Pentti Leppäkoski acted as a driver, and the gun was loaded by private Paavo Havu.In Kuuterselkä, Havu's assault gun was hit by enemy fire killing Havu and wounding Aulanko. At the end of June, Olli Aulanko was awarded Mannerheim Cross of Liberty.My website has prints of this painting available for order. More info:

Aulanko by Erik Bruun who was born in 1926, Was very friendly lad and he made multiple posters art in Finland. He was one of the most humble and kind person who attracted tourists and travelers to Finland. In Bruun’s posters one can always sense his typical tongue in cheek attitude, like in this interpretation of Aulanko.Talking about the image itself it describe the tourist on a castle roof enjoying the view. The particular castle also has a interesting illustration of plate, fork, knife and different kind of glass illustration.This poster was actually never published in the early 1970s, but the original copy got published later on.

Soulful. That's the first word that came to my mind when I met them for the first time. You should see their house, it's the most stunning place in nature, full of beautiful dried flowers and antique furniture. It's like every item has a story to tell. Well, here's a glimpse of their story. In recent years, I've been photographing more and more elopements. There's something very different about elopements compared to more traditional weddings. It's the intention. When you're having a traditional wedding, usually the main intention is to throw a party for your friends and family. Eloping, on the other hand, is more about your own experience as a couple. It's about doing something meaningful together, spending the day where you feel relaxed and inspired, having your ceremony at the best possible location, and in general, celebrating your relationship and commitment together as a couple. As you probably know, there's no wrong way to celebrate your love. But some ways might suit you better than others. Sometimes it's also possible to have the best out of both worlds and invite your closest friends and family to your elopement day. Anyhow, they started their day walking together in a swamp, which was important and I guess a spiritual place for them. It was on their elopement day schedule on paper, which made me smile, because it was a priority for to them, spend time together before getting ready. Some backstory about the photos: 1) walking away just after their ceremony in the woods 2) before the first look they said some words to each other in the front of their home, which was a great atmosphere builder 3 & 4) they loved the nature at Aulanko since it reminded them of their earlier life in a place where the nature was similar 5) home-made bridal bouquet by the bride, stunning right?! 6 & 7) individual portraits when the light was at best, I just love the idea that you can put your spouse's photo into your wallet and carry it all the time For you photo nerds out there, all shot with #leicam10 and #summilux50asph.
