Guess what, guys? The first chapter of the mudslide fic is getting posted tomorrow! Which is just so unbelievable to me?? Despite posting 10 fics prior to this one, it was the first fic I started writing for this ship and I've been working on it (on and off) since september and now here we are... absolute bonkers if you ask me.

Now, I know there are like 4 people who are actually interested in this fic – and that's fine, honestly –, but I for one am very excited. So I thought I'd give you guys a longer snippet for today. I actually shared parts of this scene in like 3 different instalments from both of their povs lmao but this one is from chapter one so you'll get the full(ish) picture tomorrow.

“Eddie, a-are you sure you’re alright?” “Yeah, sorry. I guess I’m just tired.” He rubbed the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger. “Eddie, if there’s something going on, you have to tell me.” “There’s nothing going on, I promise.” Buck raised his eyebrows challengingly and as it had so many times before, it made Eddie sigh in defeat. “It’s. It’s the weather.” He gave in with a heavy sigh and it didn’t quite stop Buck from frowning, but he had to admit, it made sense. It’s been raining for over two weeks now as a storm came to California and Buck would be lying if he said that it didn’t affect him in any way, but he was handling it. The only thing he didn’t account for was that maybe Eddie wasn’t. “Hey, it’s okay.” Buck stepped closer and for some reason Eddie was avoiding his gaze now, so he didn’t stop walking until they were standing toe to toe, the proximity forcing his eyes back onto Buck’s face. “Look. This?” He pulled the neckline of his shirt aside to show Eddie more of the scarring over his neck and chest. “This is a reminder that I pulled through.” He knew what kind of marks a lighting strike could leave on someone’s body, but he never really got to see his own. By the time he woke up from his coma, the patterns were gone — unlike the painful and itchy blisters that took over their place; they lasted for nearly two months and despite all the cold compresses and cooling gels, they still left a hefty amount of scar tissue behind, in the shape of abstract lines and ragged edges. Eddie reached out and traced some of the lines above his collarbone with his fingers and Buck couldn’t help but let his eyes flutter shut for a second with the softness of his touch. The pads of his fingers were warm as they brushed over the shiny silver lines and patches, yet Buck could still feel goosebumps build on his forearms and thighs with every microinch he covered. Suddenly, Eddie’s fingers were gone, pulled away abruptly, almost as if they got burned by the contact, leaving his hand to float in the air between them aimlessly. “Sorry.” Eddie whispered and they were just so close. All the what ifs have started to murmur in the back of Buck’s skull with renewed vigor, buzzing like radio static behind his eyes, begging to be turned up for clarity. “Eddie I—” “It’s okay, Buck.” He flattened his palm over Buck’s heart, only the thin layer of his shirt separating them now. “Thank you, for this.” Eddie patted his chest and stepped back, leaving Buck dumbfounded as to what exactly just happened.

But the best part of the 118 was Lieutenant Diaz. The hottest man alive in Buck's opinion. When those deep browns scanned him from his whole body several times, while Bobby and everyone pranked him with coming to the wrong house, this man just glared at him so hard, with incomprehensible look, but it was such a hot look, that Buck was ready to kneel for him right this moment to prove how good he can be for the man. 

And then this walking summary of Buck’s best wet dreams gets up to shake his hand and let Buck see that he was almost as tall as him, built like Buck, and even more bulk, with his uniform highlighting and emphasizing his best qualities. Broad shoulders, Buck wanted to touch, especially to find out how comfortable they could be like a hand rest for Buck, while he would be sitting on these strong hips. Big hands Buck knew he would die if not feel around his waist at least once. 

He still has been picturing it so vividly: those huge palms squeezing him while he tries his best to make the man feel good. 

But the most hottest part about brunette was the thing that surprised even Buck himself, because it never was a turn on for him before. Lieutenant had a little bit of gray hair in his perfectly laid hair and trimmed beard.  And this real evidence showed how this man was definitely older than him and not just his superior, that he just knew that he was way more competent than Buck in everything, and when it was proved blue-eyed had to try hard not to come right that moment.

there's a black cat that i guess technically belongs to one of my neighbors, idk which one, but they always let him run around the neighborhood loose and without a collar. which i don't approve of, but i don't know who's responsible for him and didn't necessarily want my first interaction with new neighbors to be berating them for their outdoor cat.

well tonight apparently they've left him out in 3ºF weather.

if i can get him to come in, he's my cat now.

Fuck It Friday 🧇

Aaaalrighty. I am actively trying to get back to working on my wips but ngl until we know where the show will take the characters, I probably won't be working on anything non-established relationshipy.

This also means that I might have to scrap some (or most) of my wips by the time the season ends, starting with the jealous eddie fic. So I thought I might as well share some stuff from it before that'd happen.

He hooked the chart back to the end of the bed and walked over to the bedside table. “Thirsty?”

“I- yeah, thanks.”

Jason filled up a glass and passed it to Buck, sitting down on the edge of the bed.

“Not to sound like I’m glad you’ve been crushed by a collapsing floor — because believe me, I’m not.” He leveled Buck with a look that reminded him of Maddie before he continued. “But I am glad I finally got to see you. I was beginning to think that you’ve been ignoring my texts on purpose.”

Buck held his glass over his stomach and stared at it for a moment.

“I uh I kinda was.” He admitted quietly.

“Oh?” Jason asked in surprise and even though he didn’t seem upset, Buck still couldn’t help but flinch. “Did I- did I do something wrong?” He frowned, almost as if he was asking himself instead of Buck.

“N-no, no, not at all it’s just… did I? Do something wrong, I mean.”

“Buck…”

“Y-you uh you bolted pretty quickly after our date so I thought—”

Jason put a hand onto Buck’s thigh, just above his knee, and he snapped his mouth shut.

“It’s… nothing,” he shook his head, “I think it just seemed like you had your hands full with work and family and I didn’t want to make it worse. You know, before we could see where things were going with us.”

Maybe Eddie was right and he didn’t mess this up that badly, maybe it really was salvageable.

“Yeah?” He tipped his head up hopefully.

“Yeah.” Jason shifted his hand onto the top of Buck’s, bringing immediate warmth to his skin and he couldn’t help but lace their fingers together on top of the bedsheet.

He also couldn’t help but to instantly think about Eddie holding his hand through two layers of gloves while they both thought Buck was about to die. The way he desperately wished to feel Eddie’s touch one more time as he caressed Buck’s cheek and made him talk through bloodloss.

“So, are we on for another date?” Jason’s quiet voice teleported Buck right back to reality where Buck wasn’t dying and Eddie was no longer holding Buck’s hand.

“Yeah, s-sure I’d love that.”

Upon entering the room, Eddie can no longer hold back tears, seeing Buck so white and motionless on the bed, sharply recalling the events from Buck's last cardiac arrest. “But now he is not in a coma,” Eddie reminds himself that, “there is no ECMO around him that breathes for him. He's just sleeping after anesthesia and from everything his body has been through. He's just sleeping. He's alive, he's breathing, he's here.” “We get through it, ok? Just come back to me,” Eddie whispers these words into Buck's hand, which he took to feel his pulse himself. He knows that he should have taken a chair and sat down, but the pain of his knees hitting the floor is grounding, making Eddie feel like he begs someone more powerful to have mercy on them. On Buck. It almost feels like a good enough price to pay to be able to hold Buck's hand now.  It almost feels like he has a chance to hope that everything gets better eventually. That's all Eddie has right now. This hope and fear that Buck kicks him out as soon as Eddie tells him everything that happened to him.

The fighting had started almost by accident, out of rage. It was about throwing punches full of frustration and anger and sadness. And then he’d found the money. Now he fought out of necessity – to keep him and Chris afloat. He hated it now. He hated that his fists were covered in bruises that he tried his best to hide and that after some nights there was a wheeze to his breathing there wasn’t before. He hated that he didn’t sleep and he didn’t see his son and he didn’t have time for friends. Chim and Hen hung out all the time, Bobby hosted BBQs on weekends, Ravi and Lucy were fast friends. And Eddie stood just outside it all, staring through the glass at what he could have if he only had the time. It was times like this he hated Shannon, for leaving him, hated his parents, for more than he could even begin to spell out. And then he’d hate himself, for hating them, for not being enough, for having to do something so vile as beat the shit out of people for money.

Most hits, kudos, bookmarks, and words i want to scream "I love you" from the top of my lungs, but I'm afraid that someone else will hear me Buck drunk calls Eddie to confess his love anonymously. Eddie doesn't hear it. Buck struggles with his feelings.

Least words i just wanna fold you up and keep you warm, keep you warm buck and eddie are sharing a cabin for chim and maddie's combo bachelor/bachelorette party. and theres only one bed. and they get snowed in. and the heats out. of course.
